Abstract:

This paper investigates the global chaos synchronization of identical Liu-Su-Liu chaotic systems (2006) and non-identical Liu-Su-Liu chaotic system (2006) and Liu-Chen-Liu chaotic system (2007). In this paper, active nonlinear control method has been successfully applied to synchronize two identical Liu-Su-Liu chaotic systems and then to synchronize two different chaotic systems, viz. Liu-Su-Liu and Liu-Chen-Liu chaotic systems. Since the Lyapunov exponents are not required for these calculations, the active nonlinear control method is effective and convenient to synchronize Liu-Su-Liu and Liu-Chen-Liu chaotic systems. Numerical simulations are also given to illustrate the proposed synchronization approach.

Abstract:

A new type of two-component Casimir-Qiao-Liu type hierarchy (2-CQLTH) is produced from a new spectral problem and their bi-Hamiltonian structures are constructed. Particularly, a new completely integrable two-component Casimir-Qiao-Liu type equation (2-CQLTE) is presented. Furthermore, based on the semidirect sums of matrix Lie algebras consisting of3×3block matrix Lie algebra, the bi-integrable couplings of the 2-CQLTH are constructed and their bi-Hamiltonian structures are furnished.

Il presente elaborato si concentra sul lavoro di due autori, lo scrittore taiwanese Liu Kexiang e il romanziere cinese Liu Xianping. Queste due personalità sono accomunate dallo stesso interesse per le tematiche ambientali e dallo stesso desiderio di contribuire all'educazione ambientale di bambini e ragazzi attraverso le opere letterarie. Alla luce di questo, i due volumi oggetto del mio lavoro di tesi sono rispettivamente un’opera saggistica a carattere scientifico e un romanzo d’avventura per l’infanzia. La tesi si compone dunque di tre capitoli: il primo capitolo verte sull'indagine del pensiero e dell’aspetto didattico dei due autori; il secondo capitolo offre due proposte di traduzione di due estratti dalle due opere precedentemente accennate; il terzo capitolo propone un’analisi traduttologica in cui saranno esposti i meccanismi linguistici e culturali che mi hanno portato ad optare per l’una piuttosto che per l’altra resa traduttiva. Verrà infine offerto un glossario come ausilio durante la lettura.

Abstract:

The purpose of this thesis is to describe the work process and the results of our work with developing a web based auction system for students at Linköpings University. The present options open for students to sell objects within the University is limited to a billboard that doesn’t support bidding. Because of that a system was developed to offer an environment where they could present there objects and let demand set the final price level. A new function in this process is the option of alternate ways to end an auction with the intention of eliminating some of the problems that exists within the currently available web based auction systems with last second biding.

Abstract:

Liu Renhang (1885–1938) was known as a Shanghai publicist and propagandist of Buddhism, vegetarianism and non-violence. Having been educated in Japan, he could not establish relations with Zhang Xun and Yan Xishan. He made a long journey to India and Indochina, talked with Rabindranath Tagore. In the 1920s and 1930s, Liu Renhang published over 30 books, mostly translated from Japanese and English. He published translations of L. N. Tolstoy’s short stories, books on hydrotherapy and yoga, and founded the Institute for the Cultivation of Joy in Shanghai (乐天修养馆). The main work of his life was Dongfang Datong Xuean in 6 juan, the creation of which was carried out in 1918–1924. The treatise was fully published in Shanghai in 1926, and was reprinted in 1991 and 2014. Its main content was to consider the classical ideals of Xiaokang and Datong, and the possibility of combining ideals with the realities of the modern world. Liu Renhang believed that the ideal of Datong Confucius and Kang Yuwei is fully compatible with Buddhist teachings. During the fifth session of the Central Election Commission of the Kuomintang of the fourth convocation (1934), he tried to announce at the meeting a petition on the introduction of the principle of Great Unity in international relations. In 1938, he created the utopian commune Datong in his native village, and tried to interest Zhou Enlai and Dong Biu with his theories. In the Dongfang Datong Xuean treatise, Liu Renhang introduced the “history of the future”, which was influenced by H. G. Wells’ globalist and Fabian ideas. Liu Renhang directly referred to his novel The War in the Air in conclusion to his own treatise. Like Wells, Liu looked with pessimism on the prospects of modern mankind, and called for the emergence of a “modern Genghis Khan”, who would ruin the world, on the ashes of which the sprout of a new Great Unity would rise.

Abstract:

Denna rapport fokuserar på två huvudfrågor: Hur man hittar dataset och var forskare från Linköpings universitet (LiU) deponerar sina forskningsdata. Forskningsdata utgör grunden för vetenskapliga analyser och resultatvalidering. Dessutom förbättrar återanvändningen av forskningsdata forskningens effektivitet och påskyndar utvecklingen av vetenskaplig kunskap. Publicering av forskningsdata har blivit allt viktigare för forskare idag och att genom att publicera sina forskningsdata visa på sina vetenskapliga framsteg. Rapporten inleds med en översikt över forskningsdatalandskapet som betonar vikten av tillgänglighet och sökbarhet genom att följa FAIR-principerna (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) och konkreta rekommendationer för att hitta dataset ges. Sedan undersöks både generella och ämnesspecifika repositorier, och sökmotorer för dataset. Genom en metodologisk analys identifierades över 350 dataset från LiU-forskare, främst deponerade i Figshare, Zenodo och Dryad. Fördelningen av forskarnas institutionella affiliering har identifierats och anlyserats. Rapporten lyfter fram behovet av tydliga riktlinjer för LiU-forskare om datasetdeponering och betonar fortsatt arbete för att övervinna utmaningar i det fragmenterade forskningsdatalandskapet.

Abstract:

I den här rapporten presenteras resultatet av projektet Uppdragsutbildning på distans på Tema Barn, som 2020 beviljades pedagogiska utvecklingsmedel för e-lärande av universitetsledningen för Linköpings universitet. Rapporten är skriven så att den ska kunna vara till nytta för andra miljöer på LiU som har planer på att utveckla uppdragsutbildning. Inom projektet har vi fokuserat på uppdragsutbildning relaterat till Barnkonventionen, men behandlar detta som ett exempel som man kan dra mer generella lärdomar av, som därför kan vara till nytta för andra. Genom hela rapporten pekar vi på olika överväganden som är relevanta att beakta för den som planerar erbjuda uppdragsutbildning på distans, samt även uppdragsutbildning generellt. Rapporten beskriver först varför vi på Tema Barn ville undersöka uppdragsutbildning på distans, samt hur de allmänna förutsättningarna för uppdragsutbildning vid LiU ser ut. Sedan följer en beskrivning av arbetet med att identifiera och förankra vår uppdragsutbildning i omvärldens behov och efterfrågan, vilket leder vidare till en diskussion om pedagogiska överväganden. En väsentlig poäng här är att det finns skillnader mellan traditionell universitetsundervisning och uppdragsutbildning. Avslutningsvis presenterar vi den grundmodell för kursupplägg för e-lärande på distans och kursupplägg i modulform som vi utformat inom projektet, som är tänkt att kunna presenteras för potentiella beställare av uppdragsutbildning, för att förklara vad vi har att erbjuda och vilka möjligheter som finns för beställaren att utforma utbildningen efter sina önskemål.

Abstract:

Denna rapport har skrivits inom ramen för det tvärvetenskapliga forskningsprogrammet ”Effektiv räddning på framtidens skadeplats” som fokuserar på komplexiteten i det framtida räddningssystemet, till exempel med avseende på resurser, teknik, metodutveckling och utvärdering. ”Effektiv räddning på framtidens skadeplats” är femårigt och finansieras gemensamt av Myndigheten för samhällsskydd och beredskap (MSB) och Linköpings universitet (LiU). Det bedrivs inom Centrum för forskning inom respons- och räddningssystem (CARER) som också är att samarbete mellan LiU och MSB. Efterforskning av försvunna personer (EFP) är polisens räddningstjänstuppgift. Varje år rapporteras ca 26 000 personer försvunna till polisen varav en fjärdedel gäller allvarliga och akuta försvinnanden som orsakar stort lidande, innebär höga kostnader och där några inte skulle överlevt om de inte återfunnits i tid. Denna rapport redogör för en delstudie i ett bredare pilotprojekt för att kartlägga verksamheten EFP. Rapporten gäller polisens hantering av information och kunskap i verksamheten och syftar till att peka på behov och ge förslag till utveckling för en långsiktig kunskapsbaserad verksamhet. Studien har utförts med kvalitativ innehållsanalys av bland annat intervjuer och dokumentstudier i flera steg. Studiens slutsatser pekar på centrala områden med behov av uppföljning och utveckling; 1) Verksamhetsuppföljning, styrning och utbildning, 2) digitalisering och digital integration, 3) EFP-metodens inriktning och olika inslag samt slutligen 4) statistik, jämförelser och samverkan med forskning för en kunskapsbaserad verksamhet. Inom digitalisering och digital integration pågår utvecklingsarbete. För samtliga områden ges förslag både för uppföljning och utveckling.

Abstract:

This report is made by students at the International Master’s Programme in Ethnic and Migration Studies (EMS), Campus Norrköping, Linköping University (LiU). At the end of the first year of the Programme, students take the course “Critical Cases in Ethnic and Migration Studies” with Erik Berggren as Course Coordinator. In this course the students apply their knowledge and experiences in Ethnic and Migration studies to produce their own articles on a given theme. This year´s theme is “Migration and Democracy” sparked by recent moves towards more restrictive and punitive migration policies around the world, including Sweden. This development gives reasons to look into questions of democracy in connection to migration policy, at migrants (immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers) inclusion or exclusion from different realms of society, and, not least, if migrants, and immigrants, are seen as rights-bearing subjects or not. The articles engage with different aspects of migrant experiences, and democratic, social, and educational exclusions or inclusions. Many texts go beyond Sweden and Europe and look to South America. Some seek the voices of migrants themselves. Other articles deal with anti-immigrant policies and rhetoric, their structure and how they are rationalised. The International Master’s Programme in Ethnic and Migration Studies is a part of the Institute for Research in Migration, Ethnicity and Society (REMESO), at the Department Culture and Society (IKOS) at LiU. Programme Director is Professor Claudia Tatzreiter. REMESO is an international institute that pursues research and education. The REMS report is one of the ways in which we, as students, are trained to identify and analyse problems related to migration, integration, and diversity and to make research and education accessible to a wider audience. Abstract:

Genome editing tools have promised tremendous opportunities in agriculture for breeding crops and livestock across the food supply chain. Potentially addressing issues associated with a growing global population, sustainability concerns, and possibly helping address the effects of climate change (Kuiken, Barrangou, and Grieger 2021). These promises come alongside environmental, cultural, and socio-economic risks. Including concerns that governance systems are not keeping pace with technological developments and are ill-equipped, or not well suited to evaluate risks new genome editing tools may introduce. Understanding these complex, dynamic interactions across the LAC region is important to inform appropriate and acceptable regional governance and investment strategies. The power and promise of gene editing, CRISPR specifically, were first realized with the discovery of CRISPR loci in the 1980s (Anzalone, Koblan, and Liu 2020). Since that time, CRISPR-Cas systems have been further developed enabling genome editing in virtually all organisms across the tree of life (Anzalone, Koblan, and Liu 2020). Gene editing is not a singular technology or technique; it refers most often to a set of techniques that enable the manipulation of a genome with greater precision than previous iterations of genetic engineering (Shukla-Jones, Friedrichs, and Winickoff 2018b). The Inter-American Development Bank partnered with North Carolina State Universitys Genetic Engineering and Society (GES) Center to assess the regulatory and institutional frameworks surrounding gene-editing via CRISPR-based technologies in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) regions. The project studied the following core components: Current Policy Evaluation: Understanding what the future may hold requires a critical examination of the current status of the regulatory landscape. Analysis of the existing regulatory systems for agricultural biotechnologies throughout Latin America and how they included considerations for novel biotechnology strategies such as gene editing through CRISPR technologies were done. Forecasting and Future Policy Scenario Analysis: Potential products created through gene editing may face very different situations on the ground, depending on countries diverse regulations and market structures. To clarify the potential impacts of regulatory reforms, we included concrete case studies in our analysis. Identifying investment priorities: The diversity of the region naturally means that countries will have unique priorities and needs with respect to investment in agricultural biotechnology development and regulatory infrastructure. The document evaluates the accomplishments of the region in the development of gene edited products, highlighting both private and public sector innovations.

In a paper by the Harvard Law School Program on International Law and Armed Conflict (HLS PILAC) titled “Quantum of Silence: Inaction and Jus ad Bellum” (2019), Dustin A. Lewis, Naz K. Modirzadeh, and Gabriella Blum examine the actual and potential roles of silence in the identification and the development of international law, with a focus on the legal regime governing the threat or use of force in international relations. The analysis in the paper is complemented with an annex — to which a team of HLS PILAC research assistants contributed — that contains the most comprehensive catalogue to date of apparent self-defense reports to the Security Council under article 51 of the U.N. Charter. Those contributors were Lindsay Anne Bailey, Emma Broches, Laura Clark, Sonia Chakrabarty, Thejasa Jayachandran, Daniel Levine-Spound, Sarah Libowsky, Samantha Lint, Yang Liu, Carolina Silva-Portero, Shira Shamir, William Ossoff, Tamsin Parzen, and Shanelle Van. The paper and catalogue arose out of the HLS PILAC research project titled “Self-defense, States’ Silence, and the Security Council.”
