Full textFrench literature has a pecular charm which makes the chinese people keep it in great esteem; besides, it is one of the foreign literatures most welcomed in my country. "reception of french literature in china" intends to study that chinese welcome between 1899 and 1949. I. E. From the first publication of french literature in china to the eve of the creation of the people's republic of china. That survey, based on translation files and catalogues gathered in the most important chinese and french libraries comprises: subject matters and their authors translated; translation method: translates and editors along with the historical conditions of that introduction. The final part is dedicated to the study of the french influence on the chinese novelists, tale-writers and poets, particularly the influence of maupassant, zola and the french symbolists. Not only the french literature strikes with wonder the chinese readers, but it also cultivates the taste and inspiration of the great chinese literati. Comprehension and borrowing between the two great literatures are quite likely to happen. Their love-match leads to the fact that modern times open the page of world literature

Full textTo what extent do the methods applied by literary reception from foreign literature differ from those applied on the national scale? This controversial question led to the investigation of the acceptance of the French literature of the twentieth century (1949-1990) in the GDR by literary reception. The thesis' first aim is to define a method which may be transferred to similar research projects. The data, a bibliography computerized phenix, which has been added to this thesis on cd-rom and which contains all the information on the transposition and spreading of the French literature in the GDR, were subjected to the examination of the three following points of analysis : cultural, peritextual and systemic. This bibliography, constituting the research data, was discussed by taking into consideration "intersystemic anomalies", and has led to results which allow the distinction of different "stages of transfer" and a definition of a body of "problematic" literature, i. E. Literary works which were often subject to controversial discussions ending in non-acceptance in the GDR. Thus, this special situation, the "threefold literary discussion" defined by the country of origin of the literature in question, the country of transfer (GDR) and a third country which influenced by ways of exchange (USSR), i. E, a research context characterized by intrasystemic anomalies, has determined the second part of this thesis. Finally, the analysis of the intersystemic anomalies was based on the different ways of literary publication (reviews, single literary works and anthologies)

Full textThis thesis tries to determine the major trends of the literary criticism of French revolution parliamentary eloquence (1789-1794), from 1789 to 1814, land particularly to seek what is the importance of this eloquence in the change from the age of belles-lettres to the era of literature. This work develops in a chronological way. The first is about the constituent, legislative and convention periods; it points many different reactions to the revival of deliberative, from total reflect to exaltation, including the study of Garat, Chamfort, Morellet and Laharpe, as well as Lequinio, Robespierre and Condorcet. The second part deals with “thermidorian convention” and the “directoire”; in this period the problem of "revolutionary language" is crucial (Laharpe, Mercier and Mme de Stael). The third and last part is devoted to the consulate and the empire: although revolutionary eloquence is widely abandoned, many writers are still favourable to it; some of them see it as an achievement of the belles-lettres age (M. -J. Chenier, Andrieux), while others consider it as the dawn of a new literary world (Nodier); both views being based on two very different understandings of the sublime

Full textFrom a huge reception study of French literature in Italy during the inter war period in literary periodical (some 2500 articles), the author establishes its scope, quality, and conditions. Using the concepts of generation and 'literary field', she intends to show the very social conditions which make the reception of a foreign literature, in the context of an ever totalitatizing political regime. Moreover, she articulates this aspect with the mechanisms proper to the coining of the specific critical discourse applied to the analysis of foreign literature
Zékian, Stéphane. "Les aventures de la tradition : la référence au "siècle de Louis XIV" dans la France révolutionnée (1795-1820) : formes, usages, enjeuxComplément du titre." Paris 4, 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008PA040110.
Full textIn the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, French public sphere was marked by references to "Le siècle de Louis XIV”. This dissertation focuses on the structural ambiguities of the formula's consecration between Thermidor and the beginnings of the Restoration. "Le siècle de Louis XIV" was more a bone of contention than a memorial elevated by consensus to the glory of the Classics. The conflict in question is not, however, that of the Classicists against the Romantics but rather that of two irreconcilable versions of the Classical Tradition. Disputed between the apostles of the catholic revival and the heirs of the Enlightenment, literature from "le siècle de Louis XIV" was used in the service of contradictory regimes of exemplarity. What are the words and the tools of appraisal that can enable one to name and assess it ? Moreover, to what extent can this category, "le siècle de Louis XIV", bear the process of historicisation as it is de facto both the wavering subject of a sacralization which absolves it from the weight of History, and that of a more secularized admiration ? The present study introduces and analyzes the implications of "Siècle de Louis XIV"'s oscillating nature. Beyond the mere interpretation of Classicism, it is the definition of post-Belles-Lettres "Littérature" itself which is at stake
