Abstract:
The 16th c. tragedy, Arden of Faversham, depicts the murder of Arden by his wife and her lover. There are a number of critical issues that have been addressed by researchers in this tragedy like sexuality and domestic violence. But what I will focus on in this short paper is a trial of tracing the reasons that have led to the disastrous disintegration of the Ardens’ marriage in a way of extracting lessons from old literary texts for the benefits of our daily lives. Discouse analysis will be used to explore the tragedy and the way it treats the disintegeration of the Ardens’ marriage. Hence, this article aims at analyzing the texts and exploring what causes the failure of the marriage in question. The topic is complicated and it is hard to hold an individual in the family accountable for what has taken place. There are factors that lead to the consequences that this family ends up with.

Abstract:
Based on the different contents, topics, and characteristics of the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi Jinping’s important discourses on the history of the CPC integrate three narrative types: philosophical narrative, historical narrative, and literary narrative. The integration of the three typical narrative types enables the important discourses on the history of the CPC to contain profound philosophical speculation, heavy historical connotation, and aesthetic and literary conception. The value and significance of exploring the narrative types of Xi Jinping’s important discourses on the history of the CPC lie in continuously strengthening the study of Marxist classic works and promoting the Sinicization of Marxism, improving the Party history narrators’ theoretical attainment and excellent traditional Chinese cultural literacy, actively participating in various forms of social practice activities, accumulating socialized discourse materials through close contact with people from different social classes, and enriching the “corpus” of discourses of the history of the CPC, thus making the narratives deeper and more concrete.

Abstract:
Information literacy is a critical topic in contemporary pedagogy and information science, it is ranked among the essential competencies for the 21st century, and in recent years, it has received increasing research interest. The problem, however, is that the research is focused mainly on primary and university (college) contexts and only rarely analyses secondary school settings. This paper, therefore, focuses on a group of high school students and on whether the literature's idea of their needs corresponds to their actual needs. Based on the analysis of 32 documents indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, the paper identifies seven significant discursive areas addressed in the literature, both theoretically and empirically. These are the relationship of libraries and librarians to the development of information literacy, information evaluation, the relationship of information literacy and learning competencies, connection with other competencies, emphasis on constructivist approach, the social dimension of information literacy and its possible use for self-actualization. These topics form a specific research discourse, which they set out. In the second phase of the research, focus groups (8 groups in 4 schools, 41 students) on information literacy are studied through the seven essential discourses mentioned. Although our sample lacked reflections on the relationship between the library and high school students, the remaining six fundamental discourses appeared in the testimonies of high school students (Libraries and librarians, evaluation of information, learning competencies, connection with other literacy, constructivist approach, the social dimension of information literacy, information literacy as a means of self-actualization). The findings show that the main difference between literary discourse and student responses is in the perception of libraries as centres of information literacy development and that students prefer the school or their teachers in their place. Abstract:
Every year in Bulgaria there are publicly reported dozens of deaths of women, killed by their partners. It is a problem, broadly discussed in media. At the same time, there is a massive movement in the country against the ratification of the so called Istanbul Convention, a treaty of the Council of Europe against violence against women and domestic violence, (even from the leadership of the self-proclaimed leftist former Communist party). The voices proclaiming the need to preserve the so-called traditional values are also very popular. In this situation, it seems interesting with the help of the methods of Critical discouse analysis (CDA) to investigate the most common linguistic strategies and narratives used by people who downplay or defend violence against women. That is why two case studies are presented in this particular paper – the first one is a thread of posts on Twitter concerning the murder of a woman, who has been found dead at the International day against violence against women (25th November); and the second one is a forum thread of 100 posts that may be found after a piece of news about reported violence against a popular Bulgarian actress, published in the pro-European liberal online media Dnevnik on 4th December 2022.

Abstract:
In contemporary and postmodern literary discourses, feminism has introduced a paradigm change in the sex debates. The plan of feminist critical discourse analysis is to explore different discourses from a feminist viewpoint. The planned study conforms to this field of feminist discourse that will attempt to analyze Kamila Shamsie's selected work, Broken Verses. She, being a famous feminist, has produced discourses in which structural and thematic samples absorb sex debates. Her feminist tendency has established clear expression in all the aspects of her works: body, voice and characterization. The current study shows how she has used feminist discourse strategies in conventionality with her feminist literary position. This research extensively improves the perceptive of Kamila Shamsie's work and pictures how the feministic arrangement and feminist critical discourse analysis have been inventively infused in her famous works.

The study is focused on the principles of discourse analysis in the perspective of the analysis of movies and their literary sources. For the sake of research in the study the types of discourse are regarded as "text" for literature and "discourse" for movies. All the elements of text and discourse analyses wouldn't be the same; the aim is to single out identical elements and to compare the literary text and its movie version. Several stages in the analysis procedure were established to reach the goal of adequate comparison.

Abstract:
The termsdiscourse analysisandstylistic analysismean different thing to different people. Most narrowly defined, discourse analysis has only to do with the structure of spoken discourse. Such a definition separates discourse analysis from literany stylistics and pragmatics—the study of how people understand language in context. At the other end of the spectrum, discourse analysis can be carried out on spoken and written texts, and can include matters like textual coherence and cohesion, and the inferencing of meaning by readers or listeners. In this case, it includes pragmatics and much of stylistics within its bounds. Similarly, stylistics can apply just to literary texts or not, and be restricted to the study of style or, on the other hand, include the study of meaning. For the purposes of this review, relatively wide definitions of both areas have been assumed in order to make what follows reasonably comprehensive. The main restriction assumed is that the works discussed will be relevant to the examination of literature in some way. The section on literature instruction will include matters relevant to both native and non-native learners of English, and will also make reference to the integration of literary and language study.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT This study analyzes the use of literary texts in three textbooks of Portuguese as an additional language (PAL) adopted by universities in the United States. Specifically, it aims to answer the following research questions: 1) How do the activities based on literary texts promote communication in the target language? 2) What opportunities do the activities offer for the development of literary literacy? 3) How is culture approached in the activities? To address these questions, we consider the following criteria of qualitative analysis: first, modes of communication (interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational), extended discourse, and grammar; second, basic steps of development of literary literacy (i.e., motivation, introduction, and interpretation) and diversity of texts; third, cultural products, practices, perspectives, and the notion of interculturality. Results indicate the textbooks incorporate most aspects examined but inconsistently and in relatively low number of activities.

Abstract:
Most of the critical discourse analysis is directed to analysing media discourses and political discourses, however; literary works can be subjected to critical discourse analysis on different levels such as drama and novels. This paper focuses on employing Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) in investigating linguistic and rhetorical devices of Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea. The main objective of the current study is to analyse the literary texts selected from The Old Man and the Sea in terms of linguistics and rhetorical features by adopting two models: Fairclough’s three-dimensional model (2001) and Burke’s four master tropes model (1969). The study has reached the following concluding points: Hemingway uses more informal and simple vocabulary and concrete specific words. Besides, the linguistic analysis shows that the present discourse uses conjunctions and pronouns, and the current social analysis has different occasions including Santiago, the boy, and the fish.

This article aims to discuss the role of discourse analysis in literary analysis. For this aim, the writers apply Sperber and Wilson’s theory of relevance. This theory says that the meaning of utterance might be analyzed in terms of explicature, higher-level explicature, and implicature. The drama analyzed is Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. The writers suggest that discourse analysis can function to analyze the language used in the context of drama and that this analysis should be applied in studying literary works.

Abstract:
This dissertation presents an account of fictional discourse which is teleological. According to it, questions about what is said in fiction and how it ought to be said are answerable in terms of the goals and methods belonging specifically to fiction-making as a practice. Viewed in such a way, it is argued that the incompleteness of fictional discourse and its apparent tolerance of inconsistency are distinctive of it. Moreover, it is argued that there is a sense in which one can produce true statements in fiction without thereby committing one self to the thesis that words made use of in fiction are endowed with reference. Throughout the dissertation, the view espoused in it is contrasted with rival positions on the issues of what fiction is about, and whether it can be true. It is argued that a teleological account of fictional discourse can present a coherent alternative to these.

Abstract:
The objective of this study is to investigate the picture book as a form of communication. The investigation comprises both a theoretical and a practical approach. An extensive literature survey was undertaken, publishers interviewed and visits undertaken to process and printing houses to establish the methods and approaches that are currently employed to produce a picture book. The theoretical formulation forms the background and motivation to the practical aspect of the study. The practical component entails the actual conceptualization, design, illustration and publication of a picture book. The possibilities and constraints imposed on the illustrator, comprising all the elements that influence and shape the communication process, are presented and discussed - firstly in theory and then in direct reference to the picture book which is bei:1g illustrated. The theoretical and practical components of this study combine to show up the picture book as a unique art and literary form. The manner in which successful communication is achieved through the effective utilization of all the processes and elements that combine to form the picture book is demonstrated. This study emphasizes that the illustrator should get to know and use all possibilities and restrictions to their full advantage to create an effective, unique interpretation and expression in picture book form.

Full text
Abstract:
The focus of this study is the area of discourse analysis. This thesis is a rhetorical analysis of the political discourse of Queen Rania of Jordan’s English speeches. The data of the study consist of 56 English speeches (56,706) words delivered by Queen Rania from 2001 to 2010 in different countries around the world. This study investigates how Queen Rania tries to convince the audience by using various rhetorical techniques. It investigates two main canons of rhetoric, invention and style, which are based on the classical Aristotelian classification of rhetoric. In analysing invention, her ethical, emotional and logical appeals to the audience will be examined in detail. In addition to that, this study analyses Queen Rania’s style in her speeches in a corpus-based study of two figures of speech, metaphor and metonymy. This study examines whether her speeches draw on the characteristics of the feminine style of women’s political discourse proposed by Campbell (1989a), Dow and Tonn (1993) and Blankenship and Robson (1995). The qualitative and quantitative analysis reveals that women’s political discourse has common features such as using personal experience to construct political decisions, being inclusive, believing in achievements, not mere words and promises and prioritising women’s issues and supporting their rights in the political arena. These observations support the results of the studies propounded by Campbell (1989a), Dow and Tonn (1993) and Blankenship and Robson (1995). It is argued that figures of speech such as metaphor and metonymy are not only used for ornamentation to make the speeches appealing to the audience; they are also used to call the audience to action and convince them to adopt certain ideas or change prior ones. It is revealed that political speeches use certain rhetorical techniques in order to persuade the audience such as employing rhetorical questions, telling stories, argumentation and identification, inter alia.

Cook, Guy William Davidson. "A theory of discourse deviation : the application of schema theory to the analysis of literary discourse." Thesis, University of Leeds, 1990. http://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/12996/.

Full text
Abstract:
Schema theory suggests that people understand texts and experiences by comparing them with stereotypical mental representations of similar cases. This thesis examines the relevance of this theory (as developed in some Artificial Intelligence (AI) work of the 1970s and 1980s) to literary theory and the analysis of literary texts. The general theoretical framework is that of discourse analysis. In this approach, the usefulness of schema theory is already widely acknowledged for the contribution it can make to an explanation of 'coherence': the quality of meaningfulness and unity perceived in discourse. Building upon this framework, relevant AI work on text processing is discussed, evaluated, and applied to literary and non-literary discourse. The argument then moves on to literary theory, and in particular to the 'scientific' tradition of formalism, structuralism and Jakobsonian stylistics. The central concept of this tradition is 'defamiliarization': the refreshing of experience through deviation from expectation. In structuralism, attention has been concentrated on text structure, and in Jakobsonian stylistics on language. It is argued that whereas AI work on text pays little attention to linguistic and textual form, seeking to 'translate' texts into a neutral representation of 'content', the literary theories referred to above have erred in the opposite direction, and concentrated exclusively on form. Through contrastive analyses of literary and non-literary discourse, it is suggested that neither approach is capable of accounting for •literariness* on its own. The two approaches are, however, complementary, and each would benefit from the insights of the other. Human beings need to change and refresh their schematic representations of the world, texts and language. It is suggested that such changes to schemata are effected through linguistic and textual deviation from expectation, but that deviations at these levels are no guarantee of change (as is often the case in advertisements). Discourses which do. effect changes through text and language are described as displaying 'discourse deviation*. Their primary function and value may be this effect. Discourse categorized as 'literary' is frequently of this type. Discourse deviation is best described by a combination of the methods of A1 text analysis with formalist, structuralist and Jakobsonian literary theories. In illustration of these proposals, the thesis concludes with analyses of three well-known literary texts.

Lewis, Yewande Eleene. "Literacy in elementary school in Jamaica: the case of the grade four literacy test." Diss., University of Iowa, 2010. https://ir.uiowa.edu/etd/698.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to describe changes that led to the revision of the Grade Four Literacy Test in Jamaica from a classroom-based assessment to a national high-stakes examination in 2009. Educators and researchers in Jamaica have observed and examined the less-than-desired student performance in English literacy exams over several decades. My research continues the tradition and adds to the investigation of literacy challenges in Jamaica. The overarching research question for this study was to understand how the Grade Four Literacy Test, originally a classroom-based assessment for a decade, became a national high-stakes exam in 2009? I used Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as the main theoretical and methodological framework while analyzing key education government documents and newspaper articles related to the Grade Four Literacy Test. Using qualitative case study methods, I conducted classroom observations and interviews at two public elementary schools located in inner-city settings. Using CDA, I traced the changing discourse within four education policy documents and newspaper articles that promoted a test-taking accountability agenda during the revision of the literacy test. School observations and interviews enabled me to observe how faculty and administrators responded to the amended literacy test. Through interviews with key research participants I examined stakeholders' assumptions regarding literacy identity. One of the implications of this study is the importance of enhanced teacher training in comprehension and bilingual strategies, and effective use of classroom-based literacy assessments within the Jamaican language context. Future research might focus on efforts to ensure that students who eventually pass supplementary literacy tests are assisted in moving beyond learning to read to a position where they are reading to learn key content needed to succeed within the academic setting of school.

Our study aimed contribute to the literary literacy process of high school, so we propose a methodological procedure that track in ways that can collabore for the student to become a more autonym and critical reader, always trying to understand the function and literacy discouse of the paper, through the fundamental contributions of AD, as also motivate him to have aesthetic experience. The choice of the theme was given by observing that the students showed disinterest in reading and difficulties to understand the meaning of literary genres, likewise the literature develop an essential role for the subjects integral formation. Authors such as Maingueneau (1996), (1997) and (2012); Orlandi (2009); Cosson (2014a) and (2014b); Candido (1995) and (1999); Compagnon (2009), Jouve (2012) and Renato Melo (2005) among others, formed the theoretical basis for the development of this research, corroborating for the validation of the theme. The methodology used was action research, with lessons analysis; diary researcher; intervention; activities; questionnaire, interviews and production of text with 30 students of the third year of high school in a semi-comprehensive school in the metropolitan region of Recife. Based on interaction situations it was found that the practice of literary reading as well as its development is precious little accosted in class, reflecting in the lack of motivation of students to read as well as its analysis in parallel. From the experiences of interventions, we concluded that there was an awakening to the reading of literary genres, linking aesthetic pleasure to the need to generate knowledge (making it clear that is not given in a closed form, but unsettling), thus improving the literary formation of students as ti the vast majority changed the view analytical and conclusive for these texts.

Abstract:
In this article, we propose a reflection on how (anti)racist discourses manifest themselves in language, especially in Lima Barreto's literary production. Using Foucauldian Discursive Studies (EDF) as a basis and in dialogue with Literary Studies, we analyzed excerpts from the author's works "Triste Fim de Policarpo Quaresma" (2015) and "Recordações do Escrivão Isaías Caminha" (2010), seeking to identify and report racist practices from the beginning of the 20th century and understand how they resist and persist today. Considering the literary text as a space for the materialization of discourses, the next topic proposes an analysis of the enunciative excerpts of Lima Barreto's works mentioned, exploring the controversial themes addressed by the author within the historical context in which they were written. Furthermore, the analyzes and data obtained will be used to reflect on possible connections with the present and the discourses of (dis)continuity of this literary object.

Abstract:
Since the semiotic turn in the 1960s and 1970s, discourse analysis provides a lasting importance on the understanding of literature. Regarding the cultural turn of the 1990s, literary studies have become even more affiliated to each other by using concepts and questions in an interdisciplinary way. Travelling concepts in the humanities (Mieke Bal) have a significant impact on numerous writers who incorporate this discourse into their works. Based on some readings of German and French authors, it will be discussed to what extent such metatextual references have a decisive influence on the form and content of literary text production.

Abstract:
This study employs Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to quantitatively analyze the descriptions of male and female body parts in Portuguese literature. We investigate these descriptions' frequency, specificity, and objectification by examining a corpus of literary works. The results indicate distinct differences in how male and female bodies are portrayed, revealing evidence of gender bias in the choice of specific descriptors for body parts. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse surrounding gender representation in literature, shedding light on the potential biases in textual descriptions. Furthermore, it underscores the significance of NLP techniques in uncovering patterns within literary texts, providing valuable insights into data mining. Through this analysis, we deepen our understanding of gender dynamics within literary works and foster critical discussions on representation in literature.

Abstract:
Refraining from reasoning in support of the universal taste and the experience of the beautiful, cultural sociology treats taste as socially contingent and constructed. The objective of this paper is to outline a social critique of different judgements of taste when it comes to different types of literary production based on the theoretical framework established by Pierre Bourdieu and on the example of the reception of popular literature, mainly historical romances written by Marija Jurić Zagorka. The methodological approach thereby applied includes the deconstruction of common distinctions based on Bourdieu’s concepts of habitus, field and doxa, genealogy of highbrow taste in the era of so called highly textual modernism, critical analysis of gender discourse underlying cultural evaluations of literary production by women and for women, and the practicing of the ethnographic shift towards the reader in her context. This empirically contextualized analysis of literary tastes expressed by various recipients in Croatian cultural history has led to the results that reveal a long persistence of popularity and adoration of Zagorka’s novels on the one hand and harsh, almost visceral, disgust with her production by official discourse on the other, confirming the thesis that judgments of taste are based on society (and class). However, these results do not suggest a linear (let alone causal) relationship between the class system and the system of cultural classifications as well as between consumerist desire and taste. Historical novels by Marija Jurić Zagorka, mainly written in the first half of the 20th century, contain a foundationally strong inscription of opposed social strata, thus providing a useful and relevant empirical basis for the analysis of complex processes of cultural modernization and accompanying changing forms of social power.

In ISIC: the Information Behaviour Conference. University of Borås, Borås, Sweden, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.47989/irisic2009.

Full text
Abstract:
Introduction. There is a substantial amount of research on refugees and integration. Also in library and information science there are studies focusing on refugees. However, this research knowledge doesn’t easily transfer between disciplines. This paper is a scoping literature review on main perspectives studied within integration research. The aim is to explore how the information perspective is represented and if there is a need for bringing the information perspective more actively into the integration research discourse. Method.Review articles were retrieved from the Web of Science core collection indexes using Boolean search strings. Analysis. (1) The retrieved review articles were categorised into the research areas with content description through keywords. (2) Thematic analysis of the review articles with information related perspectives was conducted. Results. The analysis showed that most integration related research is done within public environmental and occupational health. In library and information science there is relevant theory development and important research on information literacy and other information related phenomena. Conclusion. It is important to bring information literacy to the common integration frameworks as a (meta)facilitator of integration. Better communication is needed across the disciplines to guarantee the contribution of research results to successful integration.

Abstract:
Numerous studies have emerged so far on Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) across different disciplines. There is virtually no facet of human experience and relationships that have not been studied. In Nigeria, these studies include knowledge and attitude, risk perception, public perception of Covid-19 management, e-learning, palliatives, precautionary behaviours etc.,, Studies have also been carried out on public framing of Covid-19 discourses in Nigeria; these have explored both offline and online messaging and issues from the perspectives of citizens towards government’s policy responses such as palliative distributions, social distancing and lockdown. The investigators of these thematic concerns deployed different methodological tools in their studies. These tools include policy evaluations, content analysis, sentiment analysis, discourse analysis, survey questionnaires, focus group discussions, in depth-interviews as well as machine learning., These studies nearly always focus on the national government policy response, with little or no focus on the constituent states. In many of the studies, the researchers work with newspaper articles for analysis of public opinions while others use social media generated contents such as tweets) as sources for analysis of sentiments and opinions. Although there are others who rely on the use of survey questionnaires and other tools outlined above; the limitations of these approaches necessitated the research plan adopted by this study. Most of the social media users in Nigeria are domiciled in cities and their demography comprises the middle class (socio-economic) who are more likely to be literate with access to internet technologies. Hence, the opinions of a majority of the population who are most likely rural dwellers with limited access to internet technologies are very often excluded. This is not in any way to disparage social media content analysis findings; because the opinions expressed by opinion leaders usually represent the larger subset of opinions prevalent in the society. Analysing public perception using questionnaires is also fraught with its challenges, as well as reliance on newspaper articles. A lot of the newspapers and news media organisations in Nigeria are politically hinged; some of them have active politicians and their associates as their proprietors. Getting unbiased opinions from these sources might be difficult. The news articles are also most likely to reflect and amplify official positions through press releases and interviews which usually privilege elite actors. These gaps motivated this collaboration between Ekiti State Government and the African Leadership Centre at King’s College London to embark on research that will primarily assess public perceptions of government leadership response to Covid-19 in Ekiti State. The timeframe of the study covers the first phase of the pandemic in Ekiti State (March/April to August 2020).

Abstract:
The scientific research considers and analyzes the epistolary heritage of Olena Teliha. Excerpts from her correspondence are presented, which testify to the formation of a brilliant woman, a creative personality who played an extremely important role in the struggle for the formation of Ukrainian statehood. It is from the letters that we learn that for her letters are almost an ideal way of communication. The epistolary heritage of Olena Teliha allows us to reveal the vision of the main processes in her personal life against the background of the general historical discourse. In addition, the main communicative visions that determine her creative personality are highlighted: communicative vision of friendship, love, creation of literary talent, perseverance and strength, resistance to rejection. Attention is focused on the importance of studying and researching the epistolary heritage of creative personalities in the context of social communications. From the quoted letters, which are distinguished by their sincerity and accuracy of expression, it is possible to determine and formulate what positions and ideas the civic activist, poet and publicist adhered to. In addition, we can see the line of consistency in the formation of a creative personality who not only lives and writes, but acts – creates history, its moment, the value of which is felt and understood by future generations. It is found that the life path in its interconnection with historical circumstances and social environment influenced the formation of the creative personality of the genius poet and publicist. The peculiarities of the epistolary of Olena Teliha are determined by the circumstances, people and personalities that she had to face in life. The promising areas of research are the letters of Olena Teliha, which are in the archives of other countries and the allocation of journalistic and documentary aspects of her epistolary heritage. Keywords: epistolary heritage, letters, public figure, journalism, creative personality.

Yatsymirska, Mariya. MODERN MEDIA TEXT: POLITICAL NARRATIVES, MEANINGS AND SENSES, EMOTIONAL MARKERS. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, February 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2022.51.11411.

Full text
Abstract:
The article examines modern media texts in the field of political journalism; the role of information narratives and emotional markers in media doctrine is clarified; verbal expression of rational meanings in the articles of famous Ukrainian analysts is shown. Popular theories of emotions in the process of cognition are considered, their relationship with the author’s personality, reader psychology and gonzo journalism is shown. Since the media text, in contrast to the text, is a product of social communication, the main narrative is information with the intention of influencing public opinion. Media text implies the presence of the author as a creator of meanings. In addition, media texts have universal features: word, sound, visuality (stills, photos, videos). They are traditionally divided into radio, TV, newspaper and Internet texts. The concepts of multimedia and hypertext are related to online texts. Web combinations, especially in political journalism, have intensified the interactive branching of nonlinear texts that cannot be published in traditional media. The Internet as a medium has created the conditions for the exchange of ideas in the most emotional way. Hence Gonzo’s interest in journalism, which expresses impressions of certain events in words and epithets, regardless of their stylistic affiliation. There are many such examples on social media in connection with the events surrounding the Wagnerians, the Poroshenko case, Russia’s new aggression against Ukraine, and others. Thus, the study of new features of media text in the context of modern political narratives and emotional markers is important in media research. The article focuses review of etymology, origin and features of using lexemes “cмисл (meaning)” and “сенс (sense)” in linguistic practice of Ukrainians results in the development of meanings and functional stylistic coloring in the usage of these units. Lexemes “cмисл (meaning)” and “сенс (sense)” are used as synonyms, but there are specific fields of meanings where they cannot be interchanged: lexeme “сенс (sense)” should be used when it comes to reasonable grounds for something, lexeme “cмисл (meaning)” should be used when it comes to notion, concept, understanding. Modern political texts are most prominent in genres such as interviews with politicians, political commentaries, analytical articles by media experts and journalists, political reviews, political portraits, political talk shows, and conversations about recent events, accompanied by effective emotional narratives. Etymologically, the concept of “narrative” is associated with the Latin adjective “gnarus” – expert. Speakers, philosophers, and literary critics considered narrative an “example of the human mind.” In modern media texts it is not only “story”, “explanation”, “message techniques”, “chronological reproduction of events”, but first of all the semantic load and what subjective meanings the author voices; it is a process of logical presentation of arguments (narration). The highly professional narrator uses narration as a “method of organizing discourse” around facts and impressions, impresses with his political erudition, extraordinary intelligence and creativity. Some of the above theses are reflected in the following illustrations from the Ukrainian media: “Culture outside politics” – a pro-Russian narrative…” (MP Gabibullayeva); “The next will be Russia – in the post-Soviet space is the Arab Spring…” (journalist Vitaly Portnikov); “In Russia, only the collapse of Ukraine will be perceived as success” (Pavel Klimkin); “Our army is fighting, hiding from the leadership” (Yuri Butusov).
