Abstract:
When technology is scaling down, reliability and power issues are arise in the intercommunication of System on Chip (SoC). The intercommunication links are suffers with various noise sources like crosstalk, temperature variation and voltage deflection which lead to communication link failure. To get reliable system, the strong error detection and correction codes are required. In this proposed work, Crosstalk avoidance code detects and corrects of one bit error, two bit error and some of three bit errors. The Hybrid Automatic Re-transmission Request is also used when the CAC detects the burst error of three. Apart from this, the Low Power Codes are used to get low power consumption using Bus Invert (BI) technique in proposed work. The LPC code reduces the power consumption of interconnection wires using reducing switching activity. The performance of proposed work evaluated in Xilinx 14.7 in Vertex-6 Field Programmable Gated Array (FPGA) device. The proposed work is calculated of power consumption of codec module and interconnection wire, delay of CAC and LPC code and link swing voltage. This work provides 11.7% improvement in power consumption and presents high reliability than JTEC. The energy dissipation of wires in the proposed work is decreased 23.5% than un-coded schemes.

Abstract:
In this paper we formalize a combinatorial object for describing link diagrams called a Planar Diagram Code (PD-Code). PD-codes are used by the KnotTheory Mathematica package developed by Bar-Natan et al. We present the set of PD-codes as a standalone object and discuss its relationship with link diagrams. We give an explicit algorithm for reconstructing a knot diagram on a surface from a PD-code. We also discuss the intrinsic symmetries of PD-codes (i.e. invertibility and chirality). The moves analogous to the Reidemeister moves are also explored, and we show that the given set of PD-codes modulo these combinatorial Reidemeister moves is equivalent to classical link theory.

Abstract:
Due to recent advancements in big data, connection technologies, and smart devices, our environment is transforming into an “Internet of Everything” (IoE) environment. These smart devices can obtain new or special functions by reprogramming: upgrade their soft systems through receiving new version of program codes. However, bulk codes dissemination suffers from large delay, energy consumption, and number of retransmissions because of the unreliability of wireless links. In this paper, a delay-aware program dissemination (DAPD) scheme is proposed to disseminate program codes with fast, reliable, and energy-efficient style. We observe that although total energy is limited in wireless sensor network, there exists residual energy in nodes deployed far from the base station. Therefore, DAPD scheme improves the performance of bulk codes dissemination through the following two aspects. (1) Due to the fact that a high transmitting power can significantly improve the quality of wireless links, transmitting power of sensors with more residual energy is enhanced to improve link quality. (2) Due to the fact that performance of correlated dissemination tends to degrade in a highly dynamic environment, link correlation is autonomously updated in DAPD during codes dissemination to maintain improvements brought by correlated dissemination. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that, compared with previous work, DAPD scheme improves the dissemination performance in terms of completion time, transmission cost, and the efficiency of energy utilization.

Abstract:
Free space optical (FSO) communication systems provide wireless line of sight connectivity in the unlicensed spectrum, and wireless optical communication achieves higher data rates compared to their radio frequency (RF) counterparts. FSO systems are particularly attractive for last mile access problem by bridging fiber optic backbone connectivity to RF access networks. To cope with this practical deployment scenario, there has been increasing attention to the so-called dual-hop (RF/FSO) systems where RF transmission is used at a hop followed by FSO transmission to another. In this article, we study the performance of cooperative transmission systems using a mixed RF-FSO DF (decode and forward) relay using error-correcting codes including QC-LDPC codes at the relay level. The FSO link is modeled by the gamma-gamma distribution, and the RF link is modeled by the Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) model. Another innovation in this article is the use of cooperative systems using a mixed FSO/RF DF relay using quasicyclic low-density parity check (QC-LDPC) codes at the relay level. We also use the space-coupled low-density parity check (SC-LDPC) codes on the same scheme to show its importance in cooperative optical transmission but also in hybrid RF/FSO transmission. The latter will be compared with QC-LDPC codes. The use of mixed RF/FSO cooperative transmission systems can improve the reliability and transmission of information in networks. The results demonstrate an improvement in the performance of the cooperative RF/FSO DF system based on QC-LDPC and SC-LDPC codes compared to RF/FSO systems without the use of codes, but also to the DF systems proposed in the existing literature.

Abstract:
The Skynet IV satellite will provide a medium for an integrated digital communications network. This will use the packet-oriented techniques employed in many modern communications systems. One important role of the system will be to provide jam-resistant services. The advent of sophisticated electronic jammers has required the application of complex error-correcting codes and data interleaving techniques. When the satellite link forms part of a wider network, these have profound effects upon the performance of the data link protocol. This project has examined some of these effects. Terrestrial data link control protocols were found to be very inefficient, and a number of enhancements to these protocols have been proposed. An implementation of the enhanced protocols has been tested within a simulation environment. The simulator was written in Simula, an object-oriented programming language. The performance of the link was observed to be highly dependent upon the error environment presented by the underlying physical layer service (in this case a frequency-hopped spread spectrum anti-jam satellite circuit). A model of the physical layer was combined with a link layer simulator. The model used an unusual technique to reduce the computational requirements of the simulator. The project revealed that a conventional anti-jam satellite circuit is unsuitable for carriage of packetised data services. However, a number of simple changes to the protocol and error control techniques may yield a significant increase in the performance, permitting use of the service even in the harsh error environments presented by hostile jammers. These results are to be used in the specification of future satellite modems.

The diploma thesis describes the elaboration of a program for the simulation of an optical transmission path. The work introduces the basic parameters of optical transmission, such as attenuation, dispersion and bandwidth. Furthermore, the techniques of line code and error detection are described in the work, especially a cyclic redundancy sum. The key parameter of this thesis is dispersion of the optical signal. The work includes the characteristics of the eye diagram and its analysis. The resulting program can also be used to measure the real transmission route and its parameters.

Abstract:
This work is devoted to improve the coding/ decoding performance of a transmission scheme over noisy and realistic channels. For this purpose, we propose the development of optimized image transmission methods by focusing on both application and physical layers of wireless networks. In order to ensure a better quality of services, efficient compression algorithms (JPEG2000 and JPWL) are used in terms of the application layer enabling the receiver to reconstruct the images with maximum fidelity. Furthermore, to insure a transmission on wireless channels with a minimum BER at reception, some transmission, coding and advanced modulation techniques are used in the physical layer (MIMO-OFDM system, adaptive modulation, FEC, etc). First, we propose a robust transmission system of JPWL encoded images integrating a joint source-channel decoding scheme based on soft input decoding techniques. Next, the optimization of an image transmission scheme on a realistic MIMO-OFDM channel is considered. The optimized image transmission strategy is based on soft input decoding techniques and a link adaptation approach. The proposed transmission scheme offers the possibility of jointly implementing, UEP, UPA, adaptive modulation, adaptive source coding and joint decoding strategies, in order to improve the image visual quality at the reception. Then, we propose a robust transmission system for embedded bit streams based on concatenated block coding mechanism offering an unequal error protection strategy. Thus, the novelty of this study consists in proposing efficient solutions for the global optimization of wireless communication system to improve transmission quality

AbstractChapter 7 explained the detection and hypothesis testing problems, Huffman codes and the situation where errors are independent and Gaussian. In this chapter, we prove the optimality of the Huffman code in Sect. 8.1 and the Neyman–Pearson Theorem in Sect. 8.2. Section 8.3 discusses the theory of jointly Gaussian random variables that is used to analyze the modulation schemes of Sect. 7.5 . Section 8.4 uses the results on jointly Gaussian random variables to explain hypothesis tests that arise when analyzing data. That section discusses the chi-squared test and the F-test. Section 8.5 is devoted to the LDPC codes that are widely used in high-speed communication links. These codes augment a group of bits to be transmitted over a noisy channel with additional bits computed from those in the group. When it receives the bits, when the augmented bits are not consistent, the receiver attempts to determine the bits that are most likely to have been corrupted by noise.

Abstract:
AbstractIn a digital link, a transmitter converts bits into signals and a receiver converts the signals it receives into bits. The receiver faces a decision problem that we study in Sect. 7.1. The main tool is Bayes’ Rule. The key notions are maximum a posteriori and maximum likelihood estimates. Transmission systems use codes to reduce the number of bits they need to transmit. Section 7.2 explains the Huffman codes that minimize the expected number of bits needed to transmit symbols; the idea is to use fewer bits for more likely symbols. Section 7.3 explores a commonly used model of a communication channel: the binary symmetric channel. It explains how to calculate the probability of errors. Section 7.4 studies a more complex modulation scheme employed by most smartphones and computers: QAM. Section 7.5 is devoted to a central problem in decision making: how to infer which situation is in force from observations. Does a test reveal the presence of a disease; how to balance the probability of false positive and that of false negative? The main result of that section is the Neyman–Pearson Theorem that the section illustrates with many examples.

Abstract:
A framework for optimizing rotor blade airfoil shape is presented. The framework uses two digital workflows created within the Galaxy Simulation Builder (GSB) software package. The first is a workflow enabling the automated creation of a surrogate model for predicting airfoil performance coefficients. An accurate surrogate model for the rapid generation of airfoil coefficient tables has been developed using linear interpolation techniques that is based on C81Gen and ARC2D CFD codes. The second workflow defines the rotor blade optimization problem using GSB and the Dakota numerical optimization library. The presented example uses a quasi-Newton optimization algorithm to optimize the tip region of the UH-60A main rotor blade with respect to vehicle performance. This is accomplished by morphing the blade tip airfoil shape for optimum power, subject to a constraint on the maximum pitch link load.
