Abstract:
The paper deals with reputation and face treated as emotional and rational evaluation and self-evaluation of a person correlating with their respect and self-respect. The most important features of respect/disrespect reflect its deontic character and focus on the correlation of respect/disrespect and affection/disaffection. The emotional component of this attitude is its basis, whereas the rational component is its addition. The feeling of self-respect is actualized if it may be threatened. The descriptions of reputation usually contain expressed or inferred motivation for such attitude. Reputation may be a masque meant to hide real motives of behavior. The correlation between respect/disrespect and reputation may be presented as an opposition of process Vs result and content Vs form when we describe the attitude to a person, or group, or organization. Reputation is connected with external signs – someone’s good or bad name. A speech act description of reputation and face includes the contradistinction of sincere and formal behavior in a situation of a threat to respect and selfrespect of a person. Conceptualization of face is predominantly determined by the norms of certain communities in a certain epoch.

Abstract:
The article examines the systemic features of the subgenre of “chain letters” – “Advance-fee scam”, which meets the criteria of anonymity, surprise and manipulativeness. The nomination “Advance-fee scam” was fixed for this type of letter thanks to their authors, financial scammers offering the recipients of letters fraudulent financial transactions with the aim of subsequently extorting money. The work revealed that the senders of the advance-fee scam are identified based on the similarity of general features, characteristics and behavior patterns, as a result of which they can be attributed to typified individuals. In the course of the research, the conceptual, figurative and value characteristics of the “financial scammer” type are highlighted. At the conceptual level, the lexeme “scammer” has a rich synonymic range, characterized by expressiveness and negative connotations. The figurative characteristic is determined by the type of male or female at the age of 30 years old. To determine the value attributes of the typed identity of the fraudster, a survey was carried out, which made it possible to identify the attitude of the carriers of today’s linguistic culture to the linguistic personality of the financial scammer studied in the article. In addition, the article notes that the main strategy of fraudsters determines their communicative behavior, in which a series of different verbal means are used to achieve the goal - to obtain material benefits through deception. The material of the study was a collection of authentic chain letters in Russian, English and French, received by the authors in the period from May 2020.

The article establishes the linguacultural gender specifics of the British song slang. All languages are constantly changing, slang invades the vocabulary of people (male and female). Of research, interest is the definition of slang, its origin, the vital need for human communication. The purpose of the study is to identify the gender characteristics of British song slang. Slang as a language system of modern linguistics is considered. In the article, main features and gender characteristics of British slang are described. The authors analyze the song slang of female and male performers and compare the song slang of performers of both sexes. The methods of research are descriptive method, comparative analysis, definitional analysis, lexical and semantic analysis, lexical and grammatical analysis, stylistic analysis, interpretive analysis, quantitative analysis, involving a continuous sample. The material of the study was songs by modern British male and female performers. The theoretical significance of the study is to identify the features of modern British song slang. Research results contribute to the development of lexicology and stylistics of the English language, to contrastive linguistics, linguoculturology. The establishment of the gender specificity of British musical slang contributes to the development of linguistic gender studies. The practical application of the research results is revealed in the possibility of teaching courses in English lexicology, stylistics, and gender linguistics, as well as compiling a linguistic dictionary of modern musical culture.

Abstract:
Modern lexicography is being replenished with dictionaries of a new type, which in their content combine information on the language and culture of a particular nation. The study is focused on the theoretical comprehension of such dictionaries, the identification of their most important characteristics and types based on the analysis of publications dealing with Russian culture. The article presents the analysis of the influential lexicographers’ theoretical works. As a result, the author specifies the definitions of dictionary types and determines the role of culture dictionaries in modern linguistics and language education. The article also distinguishes the subtypes (genres) of the cultural dictionary: a dictionary of concepts, linguocultural, linguistic and cultural dictionaries, a dictionary of cultural literacy. The author concludes that the dictionary of culture is a specific lexicographic genre, reflecting the achievements of modern directions of linguistics such as cultural linguistics, cognitive linguistics, and linguistic conceptology. These dictionaries combine linguistic, cultural and regional information. The dictionary has become not only a linguistic publication, but a book aimed at providing the reader with information on the culture and mentality of the nation. Dictionaries created to describe the cultural component for the purpose of understanding language and culture, their active use, and solving educational problems including problems of cross-cultural communication can be defined as culture dictionaries. As a result of the analysis of dictionaries of Russian culture, the author distinguishes the following genres: linguistic and cultural dictionaries aimed at describing a foreign language environment and culture, focused mainly on a foreign reader, containing information on geographical, social, political, ideological and other aspects of culture-specific concepts in the life of a particular country; dictionaries of cultural concepts, which are often not dictionaries in the traditional sense of the word, but collections of detailed philosophical and cultural articles; dictionaries of cultural literacy, containing information on culture, knowledge of which is necessary for successful communication; linguistic and cultural dictionaries, which popularize cultural information for a general audience and are especially useful for educational purposes.

Abstract:
At the present paper the aspects of linguistic consciousness and communicative behaviour are discussed. Some likeness between the concepts reflected in linguistic consciousness and the scripts reflected in communicative behaviour are described. Valuable components are expressed in the text through inner composition meaning, determined by the stereotypes as well as through the image of the situation (the setup) and the succession of communicative steps - the scenes (the scenario). According to the axiological linguistics communicative behaviour can be represented as a multifayer formation with the following components: meaning, set up, scenario, script. An example of communicative behaviour of lecture participants in the academic discourse is given. The typical actions of participants in the communication are based on the situation and determined by their cultural values.

Il lavoro – che vuole essere un contributo agli studi su lingua italiana, televisione e divulgazione linguistica - si occupa del programma tematico sull’italiano Le parole per dirlo, in onda ogni domenica mattina su Rai 3 dal mese di ottobre 2020, condotto da Noemi Gherrero con la partecipazione dei linguisti Valeria Della Valle e Giuseppe Patota. Le parole per dirlo è al momento in tv l’unica trasmissione interamente dedicata alla lingua italiana, dato significativo tanto più in un contesto televisivo che dedica ai programmi linguistici uno spazio di gran lunga inferiore a quello occupato da altri generi della divulgazione scientifico-culturale. Il lavoro presenta il programma in seno alla programmazione linguistica Rai dagli esordi (metà degli anni ‘50 del ‘900) a oggi e a correlati fattori storico-culturali, sociolinguistici, comunicativi (fasi e caratteri del mezzo televisivo e sua evoluzione tecnologica; missione di servizio pubblico della Rai; la “lingua” come oggetto di informazione culturale), descrive struttura delle puntate e aspetti crossmediali, illustra le strategie della divulgazione e i temi linguistici privilegiati, anche con focus su puntate specifiche, riportate secondo gli usuali criteri di trascrizione del parlato televisivo. Osservazioni su lingua e tecniche divulgative si basano su un totale di 28 ore e 20 minuti di materiali audiovisivi. The essay deals with a thematic programme on the Italian language, Le parole per dirlo, broadcast every Sunday morning on Rai 3 since October 2020. The programme is presented by Noemi Gherrero with the participation of two linguists, prof. Valeria Della Valle and prof. Giuseppe Patota and it is currently the only TV programme entirely dedicated to the Italian language (a very significant fact in a television programming scenario in which programmes about the Italian language are given less space than other scientific and cultural outreach programmes). The work presents the programme within the Rai linguistic programming from its beginnings (mid 1950s) to the present day and takes into consideration historical-cultural, sociolinguistic and communicative factors (phases and characteristics of the television medium and its technological evolution; Rai's public service mission; "language" as an object of cultural information). It describes then the structure of the episodes and cross-media aspects, the strategies of dissemination and the discussed linguistic themes: the analysis focuses on specific episodes, reported according to the usual criteria of transcription of television speech. Observations on language and dissemination techniques are based on a total of 28 hours and 20 minutes of audiovisual materials.

The aim of this work is determined by the importance of expanding and advancing in the development of conceptual directions within the framework of political linguistics, cultural linguistics, and consideration of linguistic characteristics based on the material of Kazakhstan political Internet comments, which has a greater effect on the consciousness of the people. It is implied in this statement there is an idea of ​​the most important characteristics of representatives of the population – a parameter that influences the development of political discourse in conceptual and expressive aspects. The results of the generalized analysis serve as a basis for deepening such studies and disseminating them to other languages. The conducted research Internet commentary makes a certain contribution to the general theory of modern linguistics, practical lexicography. Evaluating different approaches to discourse also pushes this area forward methodologically. Research shows that well-known discourse centers are organizing a networked public to conduct a survey.

Social media enable messages to be exchanged beyond geographic constraints. Some of the messages could be shared and forwarded by people with different cultural backgrounds across different geographical regions. Studying the content of messages that can reach diverse populations is important for practices such as movement propagation and global marketing. Existing studies mainly investigated the characteristics of messages that are popular, i.e., shared or forwarded by more users. As the diffusion of information is prone to be echoed inside certain geographical and linguistic boundaries, popular messages are not always to be shared and spread across geographical and linguistic boundaries. We investigated the linguistic characteristics of social media messages that can reach and be disseminated by people across nations, and across geographic and linguistic boundaries in the MeToo movement. Specifically, we analyze the diffusion paths of messages according to the geolocation of tweets and conducted statistical analysis to compare the linguistic characteristic of tweets that spread across geographical or linguistic boundaries with those that do not. We focus on the linguistic characteristics from three aspects: ‘emotions’, ‘social relations’, and ‘economics, politics, and religion’. Our findings reveal that popular messages tend to contain more negative emotions, however, messages with negative emotions are unlikely to be disseminated across geographical or linguistic boundaries. On the other hand, messages on economic topics or non-adults’ issues are more probable to be disseminated universally. The findings provide insights on the content that is more probable to be shared and disseminated by people with different cultural backgrounds across geographical regions.

Language is the "spirit of the people". Today the generally accepted idea is the one of the anthropocentrism of language. The formation of the anthropocentric paradigm has focused researchers' attention on a person, on its place in culture because the linguistic personality is the center of cultural tradition. Within the framework of this paradigm, cultural linguistics are developing – the science focused on the cultural factor in language and the linguistic factor in the person; the science that aims to study the correlation and the communication between language and culture, between language and consciousness. The formation of the stable nomenclature is the cultural linguistics' problem of high priority. One of the most important concepts in this field is the concept of linguistic-cultural code, along with the concepts of "cultural code" and "verbal code". The article is devoted to the analysis of modern approaches to the study of the concept of linguistic-cultural code, which is a verbal embodiment of the cultural code. It aims to analyze existing works on this problem and define the theoretical foundations of the study of the linguistic-cultural code. The article reveals typological and functional characteristics of linguistic-cultural code systems. It describes methods of classification of codes within the system on the thematic and substantive grounds, namely the division of codes into substantive and conceptual ones. The purpose of the classifications of this kind is to identify and organize material means of expressing culturally relevant information. The article considers the system of the hierarchical ordering of linguistic-cultural codes and uses the term "subcode" to denote the linguoculture of lower-level systems. The linguistic and cultural interpretation of the subcode as a unit of the lower level than the code and of its place in the system of cultural codes with branchy vertical and horizontal internal connections, forming a figurative cultural paradigm, appears to be relevant. The conclusions of the article may serve as the theoretical basis for further practical research in the field of linguoculture and linguistic semiotics.

Abstract:
The article clarifies the list of the most basic features of the Ukrainian language, which have become the focus of attention of leading cultural figures, scientists in linguistic aphorisms of different time periods. The sources of the research were figurative statements about the language, represented in the works of famous scientists, cultural icons and included in modern collections of statements about the language. To implement this task a descriptive method and elements of the linguistic component analysis of the text were used. The analysis of linguistic aphorisms, whose authors are scientists, cultural icons of the past and present, proves that to the most important specific features of the Ukrainian language they attribute the power, richness of expressive means, picturesqueness, brightness, melodiousness, sweetness, flexibility of morphological and syntactic means, poeticity of the Ukrainian language. These features are currently confirmed by the scientific investigations of modern scientists. The melodiousness and sweetness of the Ukrainian language is based on the pronunciation peculiarities of vowels and consonants, the structure of the Ukrainian syllable, and quantitative indicators of the frequency of sounds formed with the participation of the voice in texts of various styles. The power is confirmed by the stability of linguistic means over the centuries, the richness of expressive means – the length of the rows of lexical synonyms, the variety of grammatical and syntactic synonymy. Picturesqueness, brightness, and poetics are confirmed by classical prose and poetic works that enrich world culture. We see the prospects of the research in describing the specifics of figurative means of linguistic aphorisms, scientific, journalistic and artistic discourse.

The article considers the coding of the system of national values in Kazakh art and their linguistic expression in the linguocultural aspect. There is a linguistic representation of the place of art in the national culture, the activity of cultural values in the worldview of the ethnos. If the indicator of the culture of an ethnos is cultural values, then the value of cultural values is determined by language. Art is an indicator of cultural and social life, endowed with the ancient cultural and spiritual value of the national existence of the ethnos. Considering that different forms of art and their compositions are marked and distinguished by language, the article analyzes in detail the question of the relationship of art to language, language to art. The existence of such categories as the history of a nation and the ethics of words, culture and art of an ethnos, aesthetic cognition and taste, folk wisdom and spiritual food is considered in the existence of a language. Abstract:
The goal of this research is the analysis of linguistic aspect of the fragment of linguistic worldview of the francophone part of Switzerland. Due to the fact that linguistic worldview is a mental-lingual formation, it incorporates linguistic and extralinguistic side of reality, as well as reflects correlation between them. Analysis is conducted on the specific lexical units of the Swiss French language; they are compared to analogues in the language of metropolitan country for the purpose of revealing the features that convey extralinguistic information. The subject of this research is the ethnolinguistic characteristics of helvetisms – linguistic peculiarities that reflect national-cultural specificity of Swiss ethnic group and are absent in the French language of France. The scientific novelty consists in consideration of the fragment of linguistic worldview of French-speaking Switzerland related to horticulture, using a set of methods for the analysis of various characteristics of the word or phrase as an independent linguistic unit. In the course of study, the author applies semantic analysis of the word, analysis of etymology of the word, analysis of inner form of the word. The acquired results contain information on ethnocultural content of such characteristics helvetisms, as external form of the word, inner form of the word, origin and meaning of the word. It was established in majority of cases, ethnocultural information is usually conveyed by such characteristics of lexical unit as external form of the word or phrase, or separate components of the structure of word meaning. The presented results can find practical implementation in cross-cultural communication, lexicographic, and cognitive linguistics.

The article presents the methodology of collecting linguistic facts, which allows a more structured and in-depth study of linguistic phenomena, their functions and characteristics. Applying this methodology of data collection and verification helps to carry out a comprehensive linguistic analysis not only as a system, but also as a means of communication, and the extensive authentic material enables to reach the mental level. The first part of the article describes the procedure for collecting, verifying and processing the actual linguistic material; the second part presents the results of analyzing the slang structural and semantic characteristics: the typology of derivational mechanisms in student slang is presented, identifying universal and unique derivational mechanisms; slang units belonging to different thematic fields are interpreted, and a «portrait» of a representative of modern French student is modeled. In the course of the research the authors used both general scientific and specialist methods and techniques: at the level of data collection these were field and desk analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, as well as surveys, personal and in-depth interviews, Internet questionnaires (google forms), ranking, etc. To analyze the data we use methods of scientific observation, analytical description, semantic field analysis, retrospective, semasiological and onomasiological analysis, analysis by dictionary marks, linguistic commentary and linguistic interpretation of experimental data. The empirical basis of the study is the linguistic material collected by combining the methods of introspection and corpus linguistics, based on the entries in the latest dictionaries of unconventional lexis. The authors conclude that since language is a factor determining not only cultural reality, but also mental matrices, national stereotypes and worldview models, the youth slang is an important tools for modeling the linguistic (naive) picture of the world of its speakers, and reflecting the realities of the youth's world.

The ethno-specific phraseology – the phraseology which manifests interlanguage differences – is contemplated in the paper considering the phraseology corpora of the Russian and English languages. The popular opinion that ethno-specificity in phraseology is predetermined solely by unique features of the national culture is questioned. The three types of phraseological ethno-specificity are differentiated: ethno-linguistic (ensured by distinctive features of the national language), ethno-cultural (connected with the originality of the national culture), and ethno-cognitive (ordained by the uniqueness of the national worldview). The characteristics of the phraseological units that belong to each of the three types of ethno-specificity are enumerated, and the circles of questions on the ethno-specific phraseology to be studied within traditional linguistics, cultural linguistics, and cognitive linguistics are outlined. The possibility of coexistence of several types of ethno-specificity in one phraseological unit is shown. It is noted that in order to comprehend ethno-specific phraseological units of the three types a different degree of immersion in the foreign linguistic-cultural-cognitive space is required.

Purpose of the study: The current study deals with a close examination of the linguistic and cultural characteristics of proverbs describing family relations in the paradigm of peculiarities of the German linguistic picture of the world. The purpose of this article is to study and analyze German proverbs describing family relations. Methodology: While conducting the present research work such scientific methods were used: the method of theoretical analysis of literature on the topic under consideration, the method of semantic and structural analysis of German proverbs, the method of lexical and semantic group description, the comparative method. In the course of our study, 180 proverbs were analyzed (describing family relations with the following components: Mann, Frau, Mutter, Vater, Kind, Bruder, Schwester, Sohn, Tochter, Verwandte), reflecting, to varying degrees, the specifics of family relationships. Among these proverbs, thematic groups were distinguished. Main Findings: The semantic features of German proverbs about the family have been distinguished. The classification of German proverbs about the family to the semantic groups was done: the role of women in the family, the role of men in the family, the characteristics of the relationship between wife and husband, etc. Applications of this study: The study may be used for close browsing of the current state of investigations in this scientific area as well as for further investigations of linguistic and cultural characteristics of proverbs describing family relations in the German linguistic picture of the world. Novelty/Originality of this study: When considering the connotation of German proverbs about the family, the author discovered the following regularity: most German proverbs about the family have a positive connotation. The author conducts a semantic analysis of proverbs, during which he identifies specific features that characterize family life in Russian linguoculture. Such findings were firstly done in the current survey.

This article is devoted to the identification of typologically common and different characteristics of the semantics of numbers in the phraseological units of languages, in terms of cultural and typological characteristics of the concept of number reflected in them. The study of numbers, from the point of view of thinking about the ethnocultural and mental characteristics of the concept of number, is carried out not only by linguists, but also by psychologists, ethnologists, culturologists, historians, mathematicians and researchers in the philosophy of mathematics. Numbers have additional symbolic meanings in the cultural system of symbols and are therefore polyfunctional semiotic signs. This work is dedicated to taking into account the numerological components specific to the phraseological units of the French language. The comparative analysis of French phraseological units with a numerological component from zero to nine, the results of which are presented in the article, makes it possible to judge similarities and differences in the cultural connotation of numbers. Phraseologisms, reflecting in their semantics the long process of development of the culture of people, fix and transmit cultural attitudes and stereotypes, norms and archetypes, from generation to generation. Therefore, the study of phraseological units with numbers turns out to be the most indicative in terms of identifying the cultural and typological characteristics of the concept of number reflected in them.

The article is devoted to the problem of anthropocentric research of the synergy of the Kazakh word on the basis of ethno-cultural content in the «linguistic picture of the world». In this regard, special attention is paid to the following characteristics of a native speaker (linguistic personality) as its creative and creative essence, sensory perception (poetic) and interpretive (pragmatic) character, substantiating artistic representation in language. An artistic word expressing the inner collapse of the people, i.e. the linguophilosophical ideas of V.von Humboldt and the judgments of A.Baitursynov that «if the language disappears, its carrier (ethnos) will disappear» laid the foundation for the principles characterizing the anthropocentric direction in determining the synergy of the word. In accordance with this, if the «linguistic picture of the world» is considered as a way of reflecting the spirit of a native speaker, and the synergy of the word is determined at the level of the activity of the spirit. In the article «the linguistic picture of the world» is considered as the living activity of the spirit, the way of its expression, and the synergy of language determines the level of manifestation of the activity of the spirit. The scientific and methodological basis for the study of this problem is based on a transdisciplinary methodology within the framework of the linguosynergetic paradigm, which is developing in linguistics in the era of globalization. It characterizes the high level of development of science and technology and the integration of human activity. Therefore, the term synergetics (gr. Synergtikos – «joint activity», «influence») transformed from the sphere of natural science, expresses components and subsystems in the structure of a common system that were formed as a result of the internal organization of complex relationships. This phenomenon, in accordance with the interdisciplinary trend, is also applied in the study of language.

Plant names (phytonyms) are associated with the symbolisation of mankind’s achievements in cognitive studies. The primary function of these lexical units is referential. However, many of them contain additional semantic characteristics in addition to the main (referential) meaning. They perform expressive and cumulative cultural functions reflecting the specific mentality of a particular nation. Some phytonyms have strong national cultural connotations and deserve special attention. For example, one such word is the lexeme nettle. The paper aims to reveal the cultural connotations of this lexical unit. We consider the word nettle as a unit of the Russian lexicon and an object traditionally used in the Russian people’s customs as well as a characteristic element of the Russian oral tradition. The analysis enables us to conclude that the word nettle in Russian has a neutral referential "botanical" meaning, but at the same time it contains extremely negative national cultural connotations. These are most actively manifested in phraseology and folklore texts.

The research is devoted to one of the modern trends in linguistics - cultural linguistics. The topicality is related to the study of the Russian language functioning as the language of diaspora in the eastern region of Latvia - Latgale. The research aims to characterize the means of expressing the concept fire based on modelling and analyzing its associative field in the aspect of Latvian picture of the world. Theory and practice of the associative experiment were used as a methodological framework for the research. The method of free associative experiment reveals the specific features of different cultures, as well as the functional peculiarities of the linguistic consciousness both of a separate individual - a native speaker, and of a certain ethnic or national group. The word fire (Latvian - uguns) was suggested as a stimulus word. The received reactions were analyzed according to linguistic and cultural-contextual aspects. A comparative analysis of the associative fields revealed both the specific features of the Russian linguistic picture of the world, which combines the characteristics inherent in the Russian language of the metropolis and the ones that indicate the influence of the linguistic and cultural environment, and the features and signs that coincide or are identical in the Russian and the Latvian linguistic picture of the worlds. The data processing and the analysis define the concept fire precisely as a full-fledged concept in the perception of the native speakers of the Russian language in Latgale, since not only the dictionary meaning is actualized in their linguistic picture of the world, but also a multi-level associative field, unique in terms of contextual connotations, is modelled.

The article deals with the definition of linguistic personality in the context of the relationship between language and culture. Language as a cultural phenomenon in determining the linguistic personality is considered in the works of J. L. Weisgerber. Speaking about language as a cultural value, the researcher evaluates the possibility for understanding it as an internal content of culture. Moreover, the author considers the linguistic personality within the context of the internal features of culture, taking into account the existential characteristics of language in its statics and dynamics. In Russian science, the first mention of the linguistic personality is found in V. V. Vinogradov’s works. In his interpretation the linguistic personality acts as an integrative formation including two sides, the collective (social) and individual. An important aspect of V. V. Vinogradov's linguistic personality reconstruction is the fact that the author focuses on the speech structure, which demonstrates real understanding of a language with regard to its functional characteristics, which overcome the closed existence in the system of set rules. Modern Russian linguistic and cultural concepts present more detailed study of linguistic personality practices in the context of culture. For example, V. I. Karasik considers the linguistic personality from the point of view of linguistic conceptology, focusing on integrative understanding of a language in its semantic and value aspects,on the one hand, and in its practical and functional aspects, on the other. Y. N. Karaulov tries to integrate the polarity of the linguistic personality with the levels of its organization, taking into account invariant and variable characteristics. The author notes that the linguistic personality can be characterized from the position of language consciousness and speech behavior. However, the focus of its study in the context of culture reveals certain aspects of human nature and life connected to the implementation of cultural forms, in which the existential foundations of human life are realised, reflecting its spiritual content.

The work analyzes the concept of “Mental activity” as a component of the linguistic personality of a child during his infancy and early childhood on the linguistic material of the first book of the autobiographical novel by I.A. Bunin’s “Life of Arseniev”. Thus, the subject of the research is the linguo-cognitive model of the concept of “Mental activity” with a core and a system of peripheral means. Cognitive activity as a component of the characteristics of a linguistic personality occupies an important place in cognitive linguistics. Thus, the relevance of the presented article lies in the appeal to the phenomenon of the linguistic personality of the character of a work of art, the problem of its typology and method of description. The purpose of the article is to identify and then analyze the lexical means of representing the concept of “Mental activity” and its func-tioning in the novel based on statistical, descriptive methods and the method of conceptual analy-sis. In the conclusions reached by the author of the article, it is substantiated that the mental activity of a child reflects the specifics of his age and intellectual development, the characteristics of his environment, the socio-economic and cultural-historical conditions in which he grows up, is associated with the communicative strategies of his linguistic personality. The materials of the article can find practical application in university courses on textual criticism, cognitive linguistics, and linguistic text analysis.

Compared with the current research situation abroad, the focus of the research in China is still on basic concepts, theoretical frameworks, research methods, and research reviews, with insufficient case studies and relatively narrow research perspectives. This study selects several typical places in Shaoxing, a national historical and cultural city in China, as the research sites. With the quantitative and qualitative research methods, this study investigates the current situation of linguistic landscape, including language use, physical characteristics, cultural and historical elements, translation of texts on bilingual and multilingual signs, multimodal signs, and attitudes and perceptions, and examines the interactions between linguistic landscape and its environment. The study concludes that the linguistic landscape in the city is well constructed with distinctive historical and cultural characteristics and is in harmony with the environment except for a few ecological problems. And it suggests that more researchers pay attention to the protection, inheritance and development of linguistic landscape, and experts and scholars from a wider range of fields jointly conduct research on LL with Chinese characteristics, and finally accelerate the process of globalization and internationalization in China.

The representative and axiological characteristics of the concept of businesswoman in the French language are defined. The article presents a multi-faceted analysis of the concept “businesswoman”. The main modes of verbal exteriorization of the concept “businesswoman” with the help of the French language means are studied. The most important cognitive stereotypes are identified. These cognitive stereotypes serve as the reproduction base for the analyzed concept in the French language. It has been proved that the structures of the verbal exteriorization of the concept reflect the main model of a businesswoman in French cultural linguistics.

Developing intrinsic cultural interest is an important factor for sustaining motivation, which is more likely to occur when learners have distant cultural/linguistic backgrounds from Japanese. Closer cultural/linguistic backgrounds, on the other hand, may become hazardous for having accurate self-efficacy.

Recognizing that developing the competences needed to appropriately use linguistic resources according to contextual characteristics (pragmatics) is as important as the cultural-imbedded linguistic knowledge itself (semantics) and that both are equally essential to form competent speakers of English in foreign language contexts, we feel this research relies on corpus linguistics to analyze both the scope and the limitations of the sociolinguistic knowledge and the communicative skills of English students at the university level. To such end, a linguistic corpus was assembled, compared to an existing corpus of native speakers, and analyzed in terms of the frequency, overuse, underuse, misuse, ambiguity, success, and failure of the linguistic parameters used in speech acts. The findings herein describe the linguistic configurations employed to modify levels and degrees of descriptions (salient sematic theme exhibited in the EFL learners´ corpus) appealing to the sociolinguistic principles governing meaning making and language use which are constructed under the social conditions of the environments where the language is naturally spoken for sociocultural exchange.

The article focuses on irony as a multilateral phenomenon, which is the subject of many spheres: history, philosophy, culture, literature, linguistics etc. Different views on irony’s production and interpretation, as well as its development in history, are analyzed. Irony is viewed as a historic and cultural phenomenon, as well as a linguistic one. Irony exists in the sphere of other phenomena - humour, satire, sarcasm, joke etc. These notions are interrelated, they have something in common, yet irony has its own characteristics and peculiarities. It is stated that irony and language are inseparable, irony can function as an utterance, as a speech act and as a speech genre. The aim of the article is to analyze the characteristics of irony in discourse and to determine the conditions of efficient ironic communication. The author argues that irony as a discourse category is a common product of both the speaker and the recipient. Thus, to be effective, an ironic speech act needs proper cultural, social and psychological atmosphere. Theoretical basis is represented by both classical works on the nature of the comic, and contemporary research on irony.

The language interpretation as a marketing structure has recently become urgent, and the depending scientific expansion has led to the emergence of such a new interdisciplinary field of knowledge, as marketing linguistics. Marketing linguistics focuses on the special status of a language not only as a communication system, but also as a linguistic and economic phenomenon, the functioning of which can ensure the effectiveness and dynamism of macro- and microeconomic processes, primarily related to the promotion of certain products in certain market segments. However, marketing linguistics should be interested in combining marketing activities with the steps leading to the cultivation of the communicative space as a whole. The existing contradiction between exclusively economic and linguo-economic phenomena, which naturally include marketing and its objectively determined goal, and language as a set of pragmatically oriented and communicatively determined units, as well as ways of using such units, seems to take into account the ethical norms and linguistic-pragmatic specifics of the language units used in advertising discourse. Thus, the linguopragmatic parameters of marketing communications are a set of characteristics determining the specifics of the discourse/text, and include, in addition to the traditionally allocated parameters, the hierarchy of communicants, linguistic and cultural conditionality and predicted lacunarity in the texts’ translation and their embeddings in other linguocultures. Linguopragmatic parameterization of marketing communications involves the significantly expanded interpretation of one of the traditional orthological parameters: the inclusion of a variety of such norms as ethical and linguistic ones, as well as the dynamism. Nowadays anthropocentric approach is widely used in the study of national culture in the Russian and foreign linguistics. It proves the emergence of linguistic and cultural trends in modern science, in which there is an interest in the issues of conceptualization and linguistic world view. Linguistic world view is a fundamental object of many modern scientists’ research, which is a complex process, the study of which is dictated by the development of linguistics and its individual areas in particular linguoculturology. The concept as a carrier of cultural information of a particular nation and an integral component of the national conceptual sphere unites the whole range of conceptual concepts and scientific views. The concept is a conceptual formation containing individual judgments and generally recognized standard values, i.e. the possible conceptual content of the object study or a linguistic phenomenon. The article considers the main results of the comparative study of the concepts “war” and “peace” and their representation in the linguistic world view of the Russian, English and Japanese languages. The result of the study of these concepts is the modeling of their field organization in the form of verbal and graphical representations, i.e. the content of concepts in the form of their field structures. This modeling allows us to confirm that the field organization of concepts in the implementation of their comparative analysis reveals the relationship of language with the existing reality, as well as reveals the national and specific characteristics of the linguistic consciousness of the ethnic group. The respondents’ reactions to the concepts “war” and “peace” directly depend on their linguistic identity and the type of culture they belong to. The modeling of the field organization provides a complete picture of the national and specific nature of the concepts. It is the concept “war” rather than “peace” that has a higher level of frequency and expressiveness in the native speakers’ minds of all three analyzed languages, that is not surprising, since respondents regardless of their cultural differences constantly face the outside world phenomena and experience the same basic emotions.

It is impossible to imagine people’s lives without geographical names. Geographical names are required to distinguish one place from another. Our people have long observed the benefits and harms of each plant in their habitat, using it in their daily practice. Because nomadic life habits required knowledge of the characteristics of each pasture land: climate, terrain, water sources, vegetation, suitability of grazing, seasonal use. In this regard, special attention is paid to the efficiency of cultivation of various types of agricultural products, which are characteristic of these regions. For example, it was convenient to breed cows in A Quiet Place, sheep and horses in sagebrush, in a secluded place, camels in a desert area. It can be seen that the more often phytotoponymic names appear on our Earth, the more influence the cultural code has. Because the culture of the people is inextricably linked with its way of life. By studying the phytotoponymic vocabulary in toponymy, you can reveal the secret of interesting information about the disappeared features of the landscape of a particular region. This article discusses the importance of Geographical Names, draws attention to how the plant world manifests itself in Kazakh toponymy, in particular in the system of oronyms, hydronyms and oikonyms, and provides information about the language code and cultural code of several plants.

Последовательно дается определение терминов «аутентичность», «аутентичный текст», раскрываются лингвистический, социокультурный и психологический аспекты такого текста, его характеристики, приводятся мнения различных ученых по данной теме. Автор знакомит читателя с разными классификациями аутентичности (Л. Лиер и М. Брин). Также в работе раскрывается содержание термина «лингвострановедческое чтение», описываются его ключевые особенности и преимущества по сравнению с другими видами чтения. Результаты проведенного педагогического эксперимента по использованию аутентичного текста в образовательном процессе подтверждают его положительную роль в обучении как лингвострановедческому чтению в частности, так и иностранному языку в целом The article considers such an urgent issue for the modern methodology of teaching a foreign language as the use of an authentic text when teaching students of a non-linguistic university linguistic and cultural reading. The paper consistently defines the terms “authenticity”, “authentic text”, reveals the linguistic, socio-cultural and psychological aspects of such a text, its characteristics, provides the opinions of researchers on this topic. The author also introduces various classifications of authenticity (L. Lier and M. Breen), reveals the content of the term “linguistic and cultural reading”, describes its basc features and advantages in comparison with other types of reading. The results of the conducted pedagogical experiment on the use of an authentic text in the educational process confirming its positive role both for teaching linguistic and teaching a foreign language in general.
