Abstract:
Linen production is one of the long-standing traditional crafts and plays an important role in the economic and cultural life of the H’mong tribe. In the socio-economic activities of the H’mong tribe in Cat Cat in particular and in Sa Pa in general, although traditional crafts are not the main income-generating occupations, they are religious activities of the H’Mong tribe and contribute to the creation of products that serve daily garment needs. Currently, linen production as well as many other traditional crafts of H’mong tribe has been focused on development and conservation by the local authorities and people. It has been turned into unique and attractive tourism products that make practical contribution to economic activities and cultural preservation of the local community.

Abstract:
Sophisticated mummification using chemical preservation was prevalent in ancient Yemeni civilization as noted in the 4th century B.C. mummies of the National Museum of Yemen, Sana’a, used in this study. Five of these mummies were used to evaluate hydrolytic enzymes produced as a result of fungal contamination. Forty-seven fungal species were isolated, thereby reflecting a high degree of contamination which may have resulted from the poor ventilation and preservation system.Aspergilluswas the most common genus isolated (48.9%). Fifteen isolates exhibited ability to produce cellulase (EC; 3.2.1.4),Aspergillus candidusbeing the highest cellulose-producer. Pectin lyase (PL, EC; 4.2.2.2) and pectin methyl esterase (PME, EC; 3.1.1.11) were produced byTrichoderma hamatum, whereas chitinase (EC; 3.2.1.14) was produced byAspergillus niger. Protease activity was noted by onlyCladosporium herbarum. The higher activities of these fungal hydrolytic enzymes represent the major threats of biodeterioration including deteriorating linen bandages as well as the mummy bodies. Therefore, it is recommended to improve the preservation system of the mummies at the National Museum to minimize the contamination up to the lowest level and protect the mummies from biodeterioration.

Abstract:
The content of the report of Ivan Fedorovich Kruzenshtern at the meeting of the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences «On the preservation of the health of sailors on ships» (1838) is considered from the point of view of a historical example of a deep understanding and interest of the commander of a warship in preserving the health of the crew. In his opinion, the reason for the high morbidity and mortality on the ships of the Russian Fleet were damp, insufficiently ventilated rooms, inadequate food, substandard drinking water, dirty linen and clothing of sailors (due to the inability to wash), lack of fresh vegetables, as well as tedious ship work and the sad disposition of the crew. Admiral I. F. Kruzenshtern instructed young officers in all ways to exclude these reasons for preserving the health and combat capability of the crew.The purpose of the study: to analyze archival materials about the views of Admiral I. F. Kruzenshtern on the issues of preserving the health of sailors during long sea voyages.Materials and methods. Retrospective analysis and scientific generalization of archival materials of Admiral of the Russian Fleet I. F. Kruzenshtern.Results and their discussion. The rules formulated by the admiral on the basis of personal experience, almost 200 years ago, remain relevant and today they form the basis of the requirements of the Naval Charter for the protection of the health of military sailors and constitute the essence of modern naval hygiene.

Abstract:
A description is provided of the crocodile remains that were found during an excavation carried out in 2019 at Qubbat al-Hawā (Aswan, Egypt). The material consists of five more or less complete bodies and five heads that were in varying states of preservation and completeness. The absence of resin, which was apparently not used during the preparation of the mummies, and the almost complete loss of linen bandages, due to insect damage, allowed a detailed morphological and osteometric description of the remains. Attention was focused on the general state of preservation of the crocodiles, the completeness of their skeletons and skulls, the presence of cut or other marks that could indicate the cause of death, and the processing of the carcasses. Moreover, the possible provenance of the crocodiles, the methods of capture and killing of the animals and their possible chronological attribution are discussed. It is concluded that the manner in which these specimens were prepared, as well as the variation observed in the type of ‘final product’, are unlike any other crocodile material described so far. The preparation method suggests a pre-Ptolemaic date for the deposit. The morphological and metrical features indicate that both Crocodylus niloticus and the recently resurrected species Crocodylus suchus are present among these individuals that range from 1.8 to 3.5 m in length.

Abstract:
When the imagination conjures up an image of an Egyptian mummy, it is normally one of a human body wrapped with undyed linen bandages. However, the reality was much more colourful, as shown by the set of red mummy shrouds and textile fragments from Pharaonic Egypt considered in this work. The textiles were subjected to scientific investigation with the main aim of shedding light on the sources of red colour and on the possible reasons for the different levels of colour fading. The red colourants were investigated using various non-invasive and micro-invasive approaches. The results pointed towards the presence of three sources of red colour, which, in increasing order of lightfastness, are safflower (Carthamus tinctorius), madder (Rubia spp.), and red ochre. Micro-morphological observations and elemental analyses also enabled some hypotheses to be formulated regarding the application of these colourants to the textiles. The results not only deepen our knowledge of dyeing technologies in ancient Egypt and shed new light on the function of red shrouds and textiles as part of the funerary practices of Pharaonic Egypt, but are also essential in planning the display and future preservation of these mummies and their associated textiles.

Abstract:
The SuperPATH approach is a direct superior portal-assisted approach for total hip arthroplasty (THA) that utilizes the interval between the gluteus minimus and the piriformis to access the hip capsule. Patients and Methods: SuperPATH arthroplasty was performed by a single surgeon between December of 2016 and December of 2021 in 344 cases. The technique described by Chow was performed in all cases. The average length of stay was 1.3 days, and all patients were discharged for home. All patients were mobilized on the day of the operation. Six cases presented complications: four intraoperative femur fractures and two peroneal nerve palsies. No infection and no hip dislocation were noticed in any case. Modifications: We recommend that the patient be placed as far from the surgeon as possible as well as the use of a sterilized standard linen pack to elevate the foot and internally rotate the hip. In addition, regarding instrumentation, we recommend the use of a 4.5 mm drill for the first guidance femur drilling and a standard corkscrew for femoral head removal. Finally, we propose a different reduction technique using a hook. The use of the SuperPATH approach allows for maximal tissue sparing through preservation of external rotators and minimizing stretching of the gluteus medius. There is no range of motion restrictions postoperatively and patients can achieve a high level of function with a very low dislocation risk and reduced inpatient stay. Furthermore, an incision extension is possible if needed in complex cases. For surgeons familiar with the standard posterolateral approach, the SuperPATH approach is a reliable and safe method with promising results for the patient. In order to improve the surgical effect and facilitate some steps in the procedure, we share our experience and recommend some modifications.

The growth in flaxseed oil consumption is due to the popularity of a healthy lifestyle, the ease of its use in nutrition, and the increased demand of food manufacturers. Flax has gained great popularity as an ingredient for various flour products, jelly, cereals, etc. The purpose of the study is to study the flax oil market in Kazakhstan, the problems and prospects for its development. Methods – industry information from open and closed professional databases, reporting of enterprises, information about their foreign economic activity, publications in scientific literature and the media, consumer and expert surveys, monitoring of wholesale and retail prices, aggregated into a single information array was analyzed. Results – a detailed systematic analysis of market offers of oil of this agricultural crop in the republic in 2017-2021 was carried out, growth rates of its main indicators, trade balance in physical and value terms, production of this type of food in the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan are presented. External factors affecting consumption and distribution channels are considered. The impact of quarantine restrictions due to the coronovirus pandemic, which disrupted established economic ties along the entire chain from growing oilseeds to their processing, was noted. The main directions for the sale of raw materials and commercial products were identified. Conclusions – the Kazakhstani linen sub-complex in a short period entered the top three world leaders. In the medium term, domestic exporters have the opportunity to strengthen their positions by market structuring and branding their products. It is necessary to carry out indu stry research, including development of the latest formulations of oil and fat products with the involvement of processing facilities; increasing the area under flax cultivation, applying the best farming practices that ensure preservation and increase in the fertility of farmland.

Rancho La Brea (California, USA) is the most emblematic Quaternary fossiliferous locality in the world, since both the high number and diversity of the specimens recovered and their excellent preservational quality. In the last decades, paleobiological and paleoecological knowledge of the different groups of mammals from this site has increased notably; however, some aspects have not yet been inquired or there is little information. In this work we provide information on one of the most abundant mammals of this site, the equid Equus occidentalis, based on the study, from osteohistological and histotaphonomic perspectives, of thin sections of different limb bones. On the one hand, from an osteohistological viewpoint, we observe that the distribution and characterization of bone tissues in the different skeletal elements are, in general lines, similar to that mentioned for other extant and extinct equids. Cyclical growth marks allowed us to propose preliminary skeletochronological interpretations. On the other hand, from a taphonomic viewpoint, we note that all the samples reflect an excellent preservation of the bone microstructure, slightly altered by different pre- and post-burial processes. The variations recorded evidence different taphonomic history and preservation conditions among pits. This is the first study including fossil material from Rancho La Brea exclusively based on the analysis of the bone microstructure features.

Abstract:
Branched cable communications are carriers of fire load, they are tracks along which fire spreads in buildings and structures. Therefore, currently, fire safety of cables is one of the most important tasks of the cable industry. The spread of flames in vertical bunch wiring depends on the following factors: the amount of combustible material that is exposed to high temperatures, geometric shapes of cables and their mutual location when laying, the ignition temperature of gases emitted by cables, the volume of combustible gases emitted by cables at a certain elevated temperature, the room capacity and volume of air passing through the cable structure, cable devices. Analysis of regulatory documents revealed some key differences in the methodology of standards. It was found that the spread of fire is not only affected by the volume of laid cables, but also by their mutual placement in space. A direct correlation was found between the influence of the crosssection of the cable core and preservation of the cable line in case of fire. Parameters were determined for the preservation of serviceability under fire exposure in the case of bunch and in the case of single wiring. It has been determined that it is impossible to spread the results of fire tests in case of single wiring in accordance with GOST IEC 60331-21-2011 and in case of bunch wiring in accordance with GOST IEC 60332-3-22-2011 to the results of tests in accordance with GOST R 53316-2009 for the preservation of operability of cable lines. The parameters of fire resistance and operability of cable products under the influence of flame depending on the type of cables and the method of their installation have been determined.

In what remains an immature discipline there are seldom any assurances of the viability of individual preservation infrastructures, and a pragmatic, risk-averse approach is critically important. The Digital Repository Audit Method Based on Risk Assessment (DRAMBORA) provides repository administrators with a flexible self- audit methodology and online tool, facilitating the validation of their objectives and methods and the management of intrinsic and extrinsic threats. This article introduces DRAMBORA, outlining its respective strengths and describing where it fits into a wider evaluation context.

Abstract:
An understanding of the physical and chemical nature of archaeological textiles is an important prerequisite for their successful conservation treatment, display and storage. Ancient Egyptian linen textiles were examined through a combination of optical microscopy, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM), ion chromatography (IC), and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA). These analytical techniques were used to distinguish between flax fibres, foreign matter present on and within flax fibres, and natron or other salts absorbed into the linen fibres in a form of partial mineralization. The use of ESEM enabled the observation and recording of the movement of salts, in real time, during cycles of hydration and dehydration. Few studies have been undertaken to date on the dynamics of salt crystallisation within organic archaeological materials, and none previous to this has been published showing the dynamics of salt crystallisation within archaeological textiles. Once the dynamics of salt crystallisation were viewed and recorded it became possible to investigate methods for the treatment of salt affected textiles through washing trials followed by alternative methods of drying. The release of salts from linen samples during washing in deionized water was monitored using IC and ESEM with EDXA, showing the pattern of salt removal and retention. The use of IC, ESEM and EDXA to monitor salt removal in textiles has not previously been reported. A conservation treatment for ancient Egyptian linen was developed, incorporating a long water washing to remove salts, soils and organic deposits, followed immediately by carefully controlled freeze drying. This was effective in preserving the integrity of the ancient linen. By combining archaeological, historical and chemical data, this pilot study of the effects of salts upon and within linen textiles has widened our understanding of the role played by salts in both the deterioration and the preservation of the textiles.

Abstract:
As a result of economic, social, and cultural changes, cities across the country are looking to outdated and abandoned infrastructure for use as public space. The primary objective of this study is to comprehensively examine one such project, the High Line in New York City, to contribute to the body of literature related to urban transformation, reuse, and analogous projects. In this thesis, the High Line was analyzed as a case study and examined in-depth, through an array of data gathering methods. A historical study of the site was conducted through archival research. A typology, and subsequent description, of the key role-player involved with the project was also established through analysis of over 300 newspaper and blog sources. The design and creation process concludes the archival research portion of the study. Subsequently, the designed environment of the High Line was evaluated for its role as public space, measured against established principal elements found in urban design literature. Special attention was paid to the places where the former infrastructural use has been utilized to provide those public space elements. Behavior observations, surveys, and interviews helped determine how the space is used and perceived by its visitors. Research indicated that while the High Line looks different than traditional public space, it contains all the elements crucial to making public spaces successful. Additionally, it was discovered that the High Line influences perceptions of the City of New York, beyond the physical structure of the High Line. The final outcome of this study is a complete narrative portrait of the High Line from the creation and subsequent reuse, the influencing surrounding factors such as cultural context and physical setting, and how the space is actually used and perceived. The narrative informed implications on the utility of the High line model for other cities across looking to create similar reuse projects.

Abstract:
Improved cochlear implant (CI) designs and surgical techniques have allowed CI patients to retain acoustic hearing in the implanted ear post-operatively. These EAS (electric-acoustic stimulation) CI users listen with a combination of acoustic and electric hearing in the same ear. While electric hearing alone improves speech recognition in quiet, preserved acoustic hearing allows EAS CI users to outperform traditional CI users in speech recognition in noise and demonstrate “speech masking release,” an improvement in speech recognition in temporally fluctuating noise relative to steady noise. Masking release is arguably an ecologically valid metric, as listeners often attend to target speech embedded in fluctuating competing speech. Improved speech recognition outcomes have been attributed to the spectral and temporal resolution provided by acoustic hearing. However, the relationship between spectral and temporal resolution and outcomes in EAS CI users is not clear. This study evaluated speech masking release, spectral ripple density discrimination thresholds, and fundamental frequency difference limens (f0DLs) in EAS CI users. Both the ripple and f0DL tasks are thought to measure underlying spectral resolution and temporal fine structure. EAS CI subjects underwent testing in three listening modes: acoustic-only, electric-only, and acoustic+electric. Comparisons across listening modes allowed the benefit provided by acoustic hearing to be quantified. It was hypothesized that speech masking release, spectral ripple density discrimination thresholds, and f0DLs would be poorest with electric-only hearing and would improve in the acoustic-only and acoustic+electric listening modes. This would reflect the benefit of preserved acoustic hearing. It was also hypothesized that speech masking release would correlate with spectral ripple density discrimination thresholds and f0DLs, reflecting the roles of spectral and temporal fine structure cues. Lastly, it was hypothesized that EAS CI users with more residual hearing (lower audiometric thresholds) would perform better on all three tasks. Speech masking release was evaluated using a 12-alternative-forced-choice (AFC) spondee recognition in noise task. The noise was a two-talker and a ten-talker babble presented at -5 dB SNR, and masking release was quantified as the difference in spondee recognition in two-talker babble relative to ten-talker babble. Spectral ripple density discrimination thresholds were assessed in a 3-AFC task using a broadband stimulus that contained spectral peaks and valleys logarithmically spaced on the frequency axis. The spacing between spectral peaks (ripple density) was varied to determine the threshold at which listeners could no longer resolve the individual spectral peaks. F0DLs were assessed via a 3-AFC task using a broadband harmonic complex with a baseline f0 = 110 Hz. The f0 of the test intervals was varied to determine the smallest change in f0 that the listener could detect. Results showed that performance in all three measures was poorest when EAS CI users were tested using electric-hearing only, with significant improvements when tested in the acoustic-only and acoustic+electric listening modes. F0DLs, but not spectral ripple density discrimination thresholds or audiometric thresholds, significantly correlated with speech masking release. Speech masking release also significantly correlated with open-set AzBio sentence recognition in noise scores obtained from clinical records. Results indicated that preservation of residual acoustic hearing allows for speech masking release, likely due to access to temporal fine structure cues provided by residual hearing. The significant correlation between speech masking release and sentence recognition in noise indicates that the ability to extract target speech embedded in temporally fluctuating competing speech is important for speech recognition in noise. Resumo: A Madeira Laminada Colada (MLC) é uma alternativa promissora no mercado brasileiro de construção, as indústrias vêm buscando alternativas que melhorem a qualidade de seus produtos seja através das espécies de madeira utilizadas, tipo de adesivo ou processo de fabricação. Este estudo avaliou os métodos de ensaio de delaminação e resistência da linha de cola propostos pelo projeto de revisão da norma brasileira de madeiras ABNT NBR 7190:1997. Foram considerados os métodos de ensaio ABNT NBR PN 02:126.10-001-5 e ABNT NBR ISO PN 02:126.10-001-3. Foram utilizados dois gêneros de madeiras (Pinus e Eucalipto), com e sem tratamento preservativo das lamelas com CCA e três tipos de adesivos (poliuretanas mono e bicomponente e resorcinol-formaldeído). Para os ensaios de delaminação e resistência da linha de cola, foram confeccionados os dispositivos necessários (autoclave e dispositivo para ensaio de cisalhamento da linha de cola). Os resultados de delaminação revelam que os valores médios obtidos para as combinações ERS (Eucalipto - Resina resorcinol-formaldeído - In natura), EBS (Eucalipto - Resina poliuretana bicomponente - In natura) e PRS (Pinus - Resina resorcinol-formaldeído - In natura) apresentaram valores dentro do aceitável de 4% pelo projeto de norma PN 02:126.10-0001- 5. Os resultados da análise estatística entre as linhas de cola mostraram que há diferença significativa entre as resistências médias ao cisalhamento. Abstract:
An understanding of the physical and chemical nature of archaeological textiles is an important prerequisite for their successful conservation treatment, display and storage. Ancient Egyptian linen textiles were examined through a combination of optical microscopy, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM), ion chromatography (IC), and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA). These analytical techniques were used to distinguish between flax fibres, foreign matter present on and within flax fibres, and natron or other salts absorbed into the linen fibres in a form of partial mineralization. The use of ESEM enabled the observation and recording of the movement of salts, in real time, during cycles of hydration and dehydration. Few studies have been undertaken to date on the dynamics of salt crystallisation within organic archaeological materials, and none previous to this has been published showing the dynamics of salt crystallisation within archaeological textiles. Once the dynamics of salt crystallisation were viewed and recorded it became possible to investigate methods for the treatment of salt affected textiles through washing trials followed by alternative methods of drying. The release of salts from linen samples during washing in deionized water was monitored using IC and ESEM with EDXA, showing the pattern of salt removal and retention. The use of IC, ESEM and EDXA to monitor salt removal in textiles has not previously been reported. A conservation treatment for ancient Egyptian linen was developed, incorporating a long water washing to remove salts, soils and organic deposits, followed immediately by carefully controlled freeze drying. This was effective in preserving the integrity of the ancient linen. By combining archaeological, historical and chemical data, this pilot study of the effects of salts upon and within linen textiles has widened our understanding of the role played by salts in both the deterioration and the preservation of the textiles.

With the various development of technology, there is getting more people use their digital or 3C products, which can enlarge and enrich our live. For instance, people used to take a photo with range finder camera but now it is popular for using digital camera or digital single lens reflex camera, even using smart phone. Unfortunately, it is hard to fit the image in different kinds of devices with various ratios. Take the iPhone with screen ratio for example, the height and width ratio is 3:2; people cannot put the image such as 1:1,640*480 those kinds of image into iPhone without distortion in visualization. The solution is to resize the image to the target ratio. There are several kinds of method to resize the image such as Scaling, Cropping, or Warping. Scaling and Cropping are the fast method to achieve such goal. But the previous one may distort the important object. Although cropping is the fast way to crop the interest area that the user wants, it may lose the other information too. Warping is another way to resize image, but it is not so effective as well. There is an effective and novel approach called seam carving that could achieve content-aware image resizing. Users may reduce or expand the height and width by themselves. But it may distort the line detection and object shape easily. In this thesis, we focus our research on improving the all line and shape structure in an image, trying to avoid seam goes through that kinds of things. Moreover, we discuss the seam carving on video resizing, which is more complicated than image resizing. At last, the experiments are carried out on different image/video frame with different number of seams. The results demonstrate the prominence of our method.

After many years of being overlooked as a game ranching area and tourist destination in favour of more established areas, the Eastern Cape, in terms of game ranching and tourism has ‘come of age’. It has become a huge industry in the Eastern Cape. Income was initially generated from commercial hunting, followed by non-consumptive eco tourism. As the industry expanded, the true value of game was discovered coupled with games inherent ability to survive with limited human interference has made it an attractive business. These factors and others have encouraged more and more farmers to convert from other forms of farming to game ranching. With this came the desire to restore their properties back to or as close as possible to its original state. Resulting in ‘emergence’ in the form of ‘resistance to power lines’, because they were seen as hideous and an unnecessary visual intrusion which impacted negatively on tourism and property values etc. The purpose of this dissertation was to surface the underlying causes for the resistance to power lines. A systems thinking approach was used, which emphasised multiple causes, and by means of systems diagrams gained an understanding of the various issues and arguments that relate to the placing and managing of power lines in rural areas. Key focus areas were motivational theories, mental constructs and factors that contribute to people’s perspectives and worldviews that ultimately influence their behaviour.

This research discusses the importance of historical research as it serves to determine ideas and helps to group historical facts into explanatory scientific systems. Thus, by systematically documenting this knowledge contributes to develop and improve the theory and practice of education. Since design education in Sri Lankan is nearly two decades old, subject areas such as Graphic design lacks the needed literature on early Sri Lankan graphic practices that determine and contribute towards clarifying current and future trends built on historical research. The historical data that contributes to these subject areas are found at archival locations, and the preservation process in such locations limits us from the opportunity to observe historical data (primary data); that is required to establish new knowledge; in this case graphic design. Thus, this research aims towards documenting historical data towards building new knowledge. To achieve this, the historical data: specific to early book cover prints are compared with a literature survey on early printing technologies and on how they are identified. For this, the primary data (early book covers) from archival locations, were documented and visually observed with the use of a linen-prover magnifying glass with x4 enlarging capacity. The findings were compared with literature on different print technologies used during this era with the knowledge on how to identify them. The findings were compiled into stimuli for the analysis purpose. And finally, the gathered data was chronologically compiled as new knowledge. In conclusion, we were able to determine the technology used in early prints, more specific to print technology used during the early book publishing and printing industry of Sri Lanka. Since the data is chronologically (1870-1920) compiled we were able to identify patterns that help build new knowledge into other subject areas. It opens up discussion on historical trends in book cover designs, parameters of each technology used in Sri Lanka that influence book layout, its typography and letter composition for further research.

Introdução: O vírus da imunodeficiência humana (HIV) acomete os linfócitos T-CD4+, importantes células de defesa do organismo. Dentre as principais estratégias para sua prevenção, a mais básica é o acesso ao conhecimento por parte da população, entretanto, sabe-se que esse é escasso em diversos grupos etários, dentre eles, os adolescentes. A falta de conhecimento de jovens sobre os mecanismos de infecção do HIV demonstra um grande risco para a disseminação do vírus nesse grupo, sendo importante e conhecidamente vulneráveis, devido a precedentes biológicos e comportamentais, como a maior variedade de parceiros sexuais e o uso irregular de preservativo. Objetivos: Descrever a conjuntura da vulnerabilidade que envolve a prática sexual de adolescentes frente ao HIV. Material e métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica narrativa, cujos artigos foram encontrados nas bases de dados SCIELO, Portal BVS e PUBMED, entre os anos de 2017 e 2020. Resultados: A adolescência e juventude são períodos de descobertas e amadurecimento, tanto emocional quanto físico. Porém, o estabelecimento de uma vida sexual saudável é dificultado perante a sociedade devido a noções e contextos socioculturoambientais estereotipados que criam uma falsa percepção de invulnerabilidade ao HIV. Um exemplo característico dessas noções é a submissão feminina às vontades do parceiro, sujeitando-se ao uso inadequado de preservativos, culminando na maior vulnerabilidade à infecção ao HIV. Ademais, vemos a iniciação sexual mais precoce quando comparada a outras gerações, sendo aos 15 anos tanto no sexo feminino quanto no masculino, que se demonstra outro fator que exacerba a exposição ao HIV, uma vez que quanto menor a idade menor a rede de apoio e condições de se proteger. Conclusão: A adolescência deve ser faixa etária vital como alvo da promoção e educação em saúde, sendo necessárias orientações direcionadas, ressaltando recortes de gênero e contextos socioculturais. Portanto, o início prematuro da vida sexual e o uso esporádico do preservativo contribuem na acentuação da vulnerabilidade de adolescentes perante ao HIV, fazendo-se necessário uma ampliação da oferta das formas de prevenção combinada, para assim, reduzir a propagação do HIV.

Introdução: A tricomoníase é uma infecção sexualmente transmissível provocada por um parasita, Trichomonas vaginalis, que pode causar inflamação na mucosa vaginal, prurido, corrimento, dor pélvica, lesões hemorrágicas, infertilidade, câncer do colo do útero, parto prematuro, peso baixo em recém nascidos, além de facilitar a transmissão de HIV ou pode ser assintomática. A enfermagem é responsável por atender e orientar sobre diagnóstico, tratamento e controle dessa infecção e das demais IST´s. Objetivo: O objetivo desse estudo foi revisar a literatura sobre a atuação do enfermeiro no diagnóstico, tratamento, prevenção e conscientização sobre os riscos da tricomoníase em mulheres. Material e métodos: Esse estudo foi realizado com busca eletrônica em base de dados como: PubMed, SciElo, LILACS e livros para ampliação sobre o tema. Resultados: Dentre os artigos revisados, poucos abordam especificamente sobre o papel da enfermagem frente a essa parasitose, a maioria abordava sobre diagnóstico através dos sinais e sintomas por meio da coleta de material para avaliação microscópica da secreção vaginal, tratamento com antibiótico- como o metronidazol-, sintomatologia e prevenção com programas de conscientização e uso de preservativo, pois a tricomoníase pode não apresentar sintomas dependendo das condições imunológicas, carga parasitária e infectividade do parasita no organismo. Conclusão: É de extrema importância a ampliação de pesquisas científicas acerca da atuação da Enfermagem frente a essa IST já que é responsável por examinar físico e clinicamente uma mulher com queixas ginecológicas; informar sobre as consequências não só da infecção mas de reinfecção da tricomoníase; realizar o tratamento de forma adequada, orientar quanto a importância de finalizar esse tratamento mesmo que já não tenha sinais e sintomas; estimular o autocuidado; e incentivar o uso de preservativos para evitar infecção por outras IST´s.

Operators decommission older offshore oil and gas fields for a variety of reasons: regulations and business models change, technology improves, field productivity ceases. In many cases, the existing pipeline network around these platforms is repurposed or reconfigured to suit current needs. New production wells can be tied in to the existing network, and unproductive assets can be bypassed and decommissioned. Although the platforms are most often specific in purpose, the pipelines are generalists by nature. Prolonging the life of this type of asset is almost always profitable. This paper describes how in-line isolation technology kept production loss to a minimum during offshore platform decommissioning and the tie-in of a reused pipeline into a new facility.

Efficient conversion in Raman beam combination systems with preservation of the Stokes seed phase front and temporal coherence is dependent on pumping geometry, mode spectrum, and relative intensities of lines in multiwavelength operation. Beam cleanup with highly aberrated narrow-line single-wavelength pump beams is shown to be a function of injection angle, Fresnel number, and gain saturation. In multimode operation, however, the loss of correlation between pump and Stokes beams during amplification as well as the influence of injection angle in establishing and maintaining a phase-locking condition will affect efficiency. Nonlinear dispersion, four-wave mixing of pump/Stokes modes, and mixing of lines at phase-matching angles in multiline conversion will be factors affecting the beam quality of the output Stokes and the generation of higher orders. Analytical and numerical results for conversion of single-line and two-line XeF in H2 are given for both narrowband and broadband operation. Results are presented on the use of phase conjugation to correct for component and distributed medium aberrations in a Raman amplifier used in beam combining applications as a function of pump beam aberration, degree of Raman medium aberration, phase conjugator reflectivity, injection angle, and Fresnel number.

The work here presented aims at providing an insight of the work undertaken under the framework of the H2020 SHELTER project, to showcase the first steps of the multi-disciplinary research conducted in one of the project’s case studies, the complex of Santa Croce in Ravenna, Italy. The paper provides the presentation of the case study and the description of the surveying activities with some first results, to provide a preliminary assessment of the site criticalities to be addressed in the future activities in the area, in line with the EU project expected outcomes.

Abstract:
Over the past decade, Connecticut has made a strong push for transit-oriented development (TOD). In some parts of the state, however, TOD is as much returning to past forms of urbanism as building anew, as cities along the Metro-North New Haven Main Line were largely developed before the car. Using a mixed methods approach of document review, stakeholder interviews, and geospatial analysis, we studied challenges and obstacles to TOD along the Metro-North New Haven Main Line. Several station areas, TOD zones, and track sections are within CIRCA's 1% 2050 flood projections for sea level rise. While none of the top 200 bus stops are among the 192 CT Transit stops in the flood zone, 45 federally subsidized affordable housing complexes included in the National Housing Preservation Database (NHPD) are within 60-ft of the 1% flood in 2050. This project produced a detailed geodatabase of land use around transit stations; assessment of obstacles and potential of TOD, and best practices recommendations.
