Full textThe work presented in this thesis concerns the development of an automotive radar target simulator for 77 GHz radar sensors. In order to continue offering safer vehicles, manufacturers develop more and more performant ADAS systems. We are witnessing a democratization of automotive radar sensors for adaptive cruise control and collision warning. The generalization of such systems on standard cars will require an increased use of test devices both at the manufacturers and in technical control centers. To test and calibrate radars, it is necessary to use Radar Target Simulators (RTS). These devices enable to simulate situations encountered by the radar. Furthermore, these scenarios are becoming increasingly complex with the arrival of autonomous vehicles. A target is defined by three parameters: distance, velocity and radar cross-section (RCS). In order to meet drastic requirements, ZF TRW Autocruise develops its own RTS for production test benches and R&D. RTS must adapt to all radars within a 76 – 81 GHz frequency band, with different modulations and a frequency bandwidth higher than 800 MHz. The system must present the advantages of being a low-cost system, with small dimensions and flexible to be integrated in different applications. The major blocking point is the design of a reconfigurable delay line, able to simulate distances between 1 m and 250 m with a resolution of 0.2 m on a large frequency band and also allowing control of RCS. A compromise will have to be found in order to meet the different specifications. The study showed the impossibility to cover the entire range of distances with one single technology. A hybrid architecture is necessary. A hybrid, tunable, wideband delay line is at study

Full textThe first part of this work relates to the design and implementation of a programmable Finite Impulse Response Digital to Analog Converter (FIRDAC). The programmability is in the filter's order (N-1) and its coefficients. The proposed FIRDAC is capable of providing an order up to 62 and a ratio between maximum to minimum coefficient up to 159. This allowed the filter to provide up to 100dB of attenuation and a wide range of normalized transition-band (>0.0156). The FIRDAC filter has been designed and implemented in 65nm CMOS with total active area 0.867mm2. The FIRDAC can operate up to 2.56 GHz of sampling frequency at an average power consumption of 9mW. For a single tone input, the FIRDAC filter managed to provide an SNR up to 67.3dB and a SFDR of 72dBc. The FIRDAC filter was tested with different modulation techniques: OFDM, 16-QAM OFDM and 64-QAM OFDM having different channel Bandwidth. The circuit achieved an Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) of 2.66%, 1.9% and 2.29% respectively, complying with the LTE and the 802.11ac standards. The second part of this work relates to the design of a programmable RF front-end circuit. The RF front-end is composed of an analog RF mixer, a programmable Pre-Power Amplifier (PPA) and a tunable LC tank. The whole RF front-end introduced a total programmable gain of 23dB with a gain step of 1.53dB operating in the 1.5GHz - 5GHz frequency range. The maximum output RF power is -11dBm with a power consumption of 23mW. Simulation result showed a maximum SFDR of -61.95dBc for two tones at a carrier frequency of 4GHz. While for a 16-QAM OFDM signal, the obtained EVM was 4.76%

Full textThis thesis deals with the study of the reconfigurable energy management of an electric vehicle based on the online identification of embedded sources. In recent years, the energy management of a hybrid system for automotive applications has been the subject of a great number of research. In this study, the energy chain considered consists of a fuel cell as the main source, storage sources such as batteries and/or supercapacitors, converters for each source and finally a load emulating the power demand. Indeed, the problem in hybrid systems is to find a strategy for a better distribution of electrical power between the different embedded sources, which is the added value of this research work. As well as defining energy management laws by considering real-time measurements in order to increase the lifespan and reliability of sources on the one hand, and the availability of the electric vehicle on the other hand. In this thesis, the nonlinear control called IDA-PBC (Interconnection and Damping assignment-Passivity Based Control) is used with the PCH (Port Controlled Hamiltonian) structure which allows to present structural properties of the system namely total system energy, damping and state interconnections. The IDA-PBC method is a powerful nonlinear technique, it is considered as a general means to stabilize a large class of physical systems. In a second part of this work, an optimal energy management strategy is proposed for the hybrid system under study, which is the combination of IDA-PBC and Hamiltonian's Jacobi Bellman method. Proof of stability is provided and the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is demonstrated. Several experimental validations are presented

Full textThe purpose of this work is to develop a fully passive in-line common-path femtosecond interferometer for the detection of high frequencies acoustic waves (GHz-THz). This work falls within the picosecond acoustic domain. The generation and the detection of ultrasounds are performed through the combined use of pulsed lasers and optical pump-probe time-resolved setups. The originality of the interferometric detection we propose lies in the use of a single birefringent crystal frst to generate a pair of phase-locked pulses and second to recombine them to interfere. We present in the first chapter a state-of-the-art of the interferometric setups currently used in picosecond acoustics. In the second chapter, we describe the principle of operation of the interferometer we have developed. Then we model the sensitivity of the interferometer inthe framework of the Jones formalism. We show that it is possible to measure independently the pump-induced modification of either the real or imaginary parts of the complex reflection coefficient of the sample. Finally, in the third chapter, the experimental characterization of the setup is detailed and we illustrate the performance of the interferometer through picosecond opto-acoustic measurements. Experiments are performed on two different samples : an opticallyabsorbing thin film and a transparent substrate coated with a metallic transducer
