Abstract:
This study, aimed to determine the effects of different light regimen and day/night feeding on some performance criteria of 1104 broiler chickens during summer season. At the beginning of second week they were separated according to their sexes, and experiment had 2 × 6 replications. The 1st group, as control, received continuous lighting (daylight + lightening during night) and fed ad-libitum. The 2nd group was treated with continuous lighting too, but they had no access to feed between10:00 and 16:00 o’clock during the last three weeks. The 3rd group was also exposed to continuous lighting but had no access to feed between10:00 am and 16:00 pm. Fourth group received continuous lighting but had no access to feed between 24:00 pm and 06:00 am. Fifth group received continuous lighting, but they were not fed between 24:00 pm and 06:00 am during the last three weeks of experimental process. Sixth group had no access to feed box during 24:00 pm and 06:00 am, when they had not been exposed to light as well. There were no notable differences in live weight gain of male and female birds for all treatment groups, and similarly differences among feed consumption and feed conversion ratios were not remarkable statistically regardless of the sexes of chickens. There were significant differences in hot-cold carcass yields of the 3rd and 6th treatment groups for male birds and 6th treatment group for female birds. The differences for carcass weights of male birds were statistically significant and 3rd and 6th treatments groups were tend to be relatively higher than the other treatment groups. The differences among treatment groups for carcass weights of female birds, however, were not significant and similarly the effects of the treatments on the mortality rate was found to be in significant for same birds. Lightning (24h) and feeding ad - libitum affected the performance of the birds adversely, whilst restricted feeding and lightning process reduced the yield-loss the animals during the summer season.

Abstract:
With the rapid development of urbanization and the power system, the damages for the power system and electrical equipments which due to lighting strike are increasing. As the distributions of lighting activity are regional and random, the requirements for electrical and electronic equipment, voltage and insulation level are varied from lighting activity in different regions. This paper adopts the Lightning Location Data on the Pearl River Delta in the last 10 years, and uses the method of probability statistics to analyze the regional ground flash density, the probability of lightning strike accident, the damages of the lightning strikes accidents and other risk factors. It takes the topography, regional features, population density and other factors into account, and uses the weighted scores to establish the risk assessment model for the lightning strikes, programs to achieve the automatic calculation in allusion to the risk of lightning strikes in different types of buildings and insulation levels of the electrical and electronic equipment, and assess the risk of lightning strikes on the electrical and electronic equipment. And based on the risk assessment result, it incorporates the installation location, characteristics, importance and other factors to study the electronic equipment withstand voltage and insulation level.

Abstract:
In this paper, the simulation of ±800kV UHVDC transmission line in which fault lightning stroke and non-fault lightning stroke, line short circuit occur shows: because there is fault current lumped parameter access to earth during the fault lightning stroke or ground fault, the voltage waveform decrease suddenly and cross repeatedly the zero line in 5ms time window; There is no fault current accessing to earth during non-fault lighting stroke, the disturbance caused by lightning is too less than value of the pole voltage. The voltage waveform comes from the protect position change up and down around the direct voltage line and decays to the pole voltage line in the 5ms time window at last. In the case of the fault lightning or ground fault non-lightning, the correlation degree of transient component and pole voltage line in the time window is little. On the contrary, it is large during the non-fault lighting. Above this, the correlation degree is calculated using 5ms samples. This kind of algorithm can resist random noise effectively, calculating speed is very fast. Many PSCAD simulations show that the algorithm can identify lighting disturbance correctly.

Abstract:
As issues of environment and energy draw keen interest around the globe due to such problems as global warming and the energy crisis, LED with high optical efficiency is brought to the fore as the next generation lighting. In addition, as the national income level gets higher and life expectancy is extended, interest in the enhancement of life quality is increasing. Accordingly, the trend of lightings is changing from mere adjustment of light intensity to system lighting in order to enhance the quality of one’s life as well as reduce energy consumption. Thus, this study aims to design LED context lighting system that automatically recognizes the location and acts of a user in residential areas and creates an appropriate lighting environment. The proposed system designed in this study includes three types of processing: first, the creation of a lighting environment index suitable for the user’s surroundings and lighting control scenarios and second, it measures and analyzes the optical characteristics that change depending on the dimming control of lighting and applies them to the index. Lastly, it adopts PIR, piezoelectric, and power sensor to grasp the location and acts of the user and create a lighting environment suitable for the current context.

Abstract:
The need for information through a monitoring system on BTS tower equipment is very necessary, including monitoring lightning strike protection. To find out whether there is a strike on the BTS, usually, technicians have to come to the BTS location to see the impact of the strike in the form of damage to the arrester, or other damage and even seek information from residents around the BTS location. The location of the BTS location is far from the head office, of course this is not effective. This research is the development of a counter lighting system designed to monitor and detect lightning strikes from a distance. By using Arduino Uno, ethernet shield, current sensor and android smart phone. The information displayed on the android smart phone is the location of the BTS tower, the time and magnitude of the strike current. The lighting protection monitoring tool based on android operation using the PZEM-004T module is a system designed and utilized to read the presence of lightning strikes which include the current flowing in the BTS tower grounding system. The test results show that the lighting protection monitoring tool using the PZEM-004T module can measure and display the current value and when a strike occurs, in real time and stored in the database. Based on the test results, it can be concluded that the results of the design of the lighting protection monitoring tool have a deviation (error) of 9,64% and a current of 12,5%.

Abstract:
Potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) are carbohydrate-rich crops. Low potato productivity in Indonesia stems from farmers' inadequate access to quality seed potatoes. One solution to this issue is enhancing quality seed potato production, achievable through aeroponic systems. Lighting, whether incandescent or LED, can optimize potato mini tuber propagation in aeroponic systems. Research on lighting's effects on potato growth remains incomplete. This study aims to investigate how lighting color and duration affect mini tuber production of Solanum tuberosum L. PPT4 Zebra using aeroponic systems. Conducted in Jurangkuali, Bumiaji sub-district, Batu, the study employed a split plot design. The main plot consisted of lighting colors (WC): light yellow (WK), white (WP), and purple (WU). Subplots were lighting duration (LP) at 3 hours (LP 3) and 5 hours (LP 5), each replicated four times. Each replication comprised 8 samples, with 18 potato plant cuttings per population. Variables included plant height, stem diameter, leaf count, chlorophyll level, root length, tuber count, tuber diameter, budding seed count, and tuber weight. Data were analyzed using F-tests followed by BNJ tests at a 5% significance level. Results indicated no interaction between lighting color and duration. Purple lighting yielded the highest tuber count and weight, while 3-hour lighting duration yielded superior plant height, stem diameter, leaf count, and root length.

Exit sign lightings shorten evacuation time by informing evacuees of the direction to a safe area . As the information included in the exit sign lighting is easily recognized by evacuees, the time required for route choice and probability of moving in the wrong direction are reduced. In this study, we examined a method to improve cognitive performance using the exit sign lighting color. The maximum cognitive distance was measured for seven colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, navy, and purple) in the visible region, from which the exit sign lighting color with the best cognitive performance was derived. The red, blue, navy, and purple have longer maximum cognitive distance than green, which is mainly used in Korea. However, there are no statistically significant differences.

Abstract:
Artificial lighting has received increased attention from urban scholars and geographers in recent years. It is celebrated for its experimental aesthetics and experiential qualities and critiqued for its adverse effects on biological life and the environment. Yet scholars and practitioners unite in their disapproval of uniform and homogenous lighting that follows from standardised lighting technologies and design principles. Absent from debates in urban scholarship and geography, however, is any serious consideration of how lighting designers respond to such standardised measures and regulations. In this article, I address this lack of academic attention by exploring how designers overturn the restrictive challenges posed by the standards and regulations of the design and planning process. Drawing on interviews with designers involved in the lighting design of a mixed-use redevelopment project in Canning Town, East London, I demonstrate how the interpretation and translation of lighting standards and regulations resist the tendency to predetermine design aesthetics and functions. By drawing attention away from the technical specifications and numerical values that are prescribed in standards and regulations, and towards lighting’s experiential and performative effects, the article argues that lighting designers can play an important role in challenging how standards and regulations are measured, defined and maintained. Calling on urban scholars to play a more prominent role in foregrounding this process of translation, I suggest that standards and regulations can provide frameworks within which luminous differentiation and preservation of darkness can be achieved, playing a potentially crucial role in ensuring a socially and environmentally sustainable transition to energy efficient lighting.

Abstract:
A good lighting environment for roads at night is essential for traffic safety. Accurate and timely knowledge of road lighting quality is meaningful for the planning and management of urban road lighting systems. Traditional field observations and mobile observations have limitations for road lightning quality evaluation at a large scale. This study explored the potential of 0.92 m resolution JL1-3B nighttime light remote sensing images to evaluate road lighting quality in Nanjing, China. Combined with synchronous field measurements and JL1-3B data, multiple regression and random forest regression with several independent variable combinations were developed and compared to determine the optimal model for surface illuminance estimation. Cross validation results showed that the random forest model with Hue, saturability, ln(Intensity), ln(Red), ln(Green) and ln(Blue) as the input independent variables had the best performance (R2 = 0.75 and RMSE = 9.79 lux). Then, this model was used to map the surface illuminance. The spatial scopes of roads were extracted from Google Earth images, and the illuminance within roads was derived to calculate the average, standard deviation and coefficient of variation to indicate the overall brightness level and brightness uniformity of the roads. This study provides a quantitative and effective reference for road lighting evaluation.

Abstract:
To solve the limitations of complexity and repeatability of existing broadcast filming systems, a new broadcast filming system was developed. In particular, for Korean music broadcasts, the shooting sequence is stage and lighting installation, rehearsal, lighting effect production, and main shooting; however, this sequence is complex and involves multiple people. We developed an automatic shooting system that can produce the same effect as the sequence with a minimum number of people as the era of un-tact has emerged because of COVID-19. The developed system comprises a simulator. After developing a stage using the simulator, during rehearsal, dancers’ movements are acquired using UWB and two-dimensional (2D) LiDAR sensors. By inserting acquired movement data in the developed stage, a camera effect is produced using a virtual camera installed in the developed simulator. The camera effect comprises pan, tilt, and zoom, and a camera director creates lightning effects while evaluating the movements of virtual dancers on the virtual stage. In this study, four cameras were used, three of which were used for camera pan, tilt, and zoom control, and the fourth was used as a fixed camera for a full shot. Video shooting is performed according to the pan, tilt, and zoom values of the three cameras and switcher data. Only the video of dancers recorded during rehearsal and that produced by the lighting director via the existing broadcast filming process is overlapped in the developed simulator to assess lighting effects. The lighting director assesses the overlapping video and then corrects parts that require to be corrected or emphasized. The abovementioned method produced better lighting effects optimized for music and choreography compared to existing lighting effect production methods. Finally, the performance and lighting effects of the developed simulator and system were confirmed by shooting using K-pop using the pan, tilt, and zoom control plan, switcher sequence, and lighting effects of the selected camera.

Abstract:
Lower quality and longer production periods of grafted seedlings, especially grafted plug seedlings of fruit vegetables, may result from insufficient amounts of light, particularly in rainy seasons and winter. Supplemental artificial lighting may be a feasible solution to such problems. This study was conducted to evaluate light intensity’s influence on the quality of grafted tomato seedlings, ‘Super Sunload’ and ‘Super Dotaerang’ were grafted onto the ‘B-Blocking’ rootstock. To improve their quality, grafted seedlings were moved to a glasshouse and grown for 10 days. The glasshouse had a combination of natural lighting from the sun and supplemental lighting from LEDs (W1R2B2) for 16 h/day. Light intensity of natural lighting was 490 μmol·m−2·s−1 photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) and that of supplemental lighting was 50, 100, or 150 μmol·m−2·s−1 PPFD. The culture environment had 30/25 °C day/night temperatures, 70% ± 5% relative humidity (RH), and a natural photoperiod of 14 h as well. Compared with quality of seedlings in supplemental lighting of 50 μmol·m−2·s−1 PPFD, that of seedlings in supplement lighting of 100 or 150 μmol·m−2·s−1 PPFD improved significantly. With increasing light intensity, diameter, fresh weight, and dry weight, which were used to measure shoot growth, greatly improved. Leaf area, leaf thickness, and root biomass were also greater. However, for quality of seedlings, no significant differences were discovered between supplement lighting of 100 μmol·m−2·s−1 PPFD and supplement lighting of 150 μmol·m−2·s−1 PPFD. Expressions of PsaA and PsbA (two photosynthetic genes) as well as the corresponding proteins increased significantly in supplement lightning of 100 and 150 μmol·m−2·s−1 PPFD, especially in 100 μmol·m−2·s−1 PPFD. Overall, considering quality and expressions of two photosynthetic genes and proteins, supplemental light of 100 μmol·m−2·s−1 PPFD (W1R2B1) would be the best choice to cultivate grafted tomato seedlings.

Abstract The impact of artificial light at night on ecology is an urgent and continuous consideration in lighting design. People’s needs and wishes for light in urban areas often conflict with demands for minimising ecological impact. For example, in city parks people may desire light that offers a pleasant experience of nature and the feeling of safety, while the fauna may thrive best with no light at all. How to overcome this seemingly unresolvable conflict, especially in hybrid environments like city parks? This paper presents Light Sketching for Ecology, a cooperative lighting design tool to help balance lighting demands from the human experience side with demands for minimising ecological impact. Results from a pilot study show the potential of Light Sketching for Ecology to create a win-win situation in which park users are more positive about the park lighting while the lighting’s ecological impact is significantly lowered.

Abstract:
The association of lightning flashes with mean cloud ice size over continental and oceanic region in the tropical areas has been analyzed using the observations from various satellite platforms (MODIS, TRMM, and LIS) for the period 2000–2011. We found that frequency of lightning in general is higher over the continental region compared to oceanic region, whereas larger size of cloud ice is observed over the oceanic regions compared to the continental regions. Relationship between lighting and cloud ice size shows similar features over both continental and oceanic regions. For the first time, we show that total lighting increases with increase in the cloud ice size; attends maximum at certain cloud ice size and then decreases with increase in cloud ice size. Maximum lightning occurred for the mean cloud ice size of around 23–25 µm over the continental region and mean cloud ice size of around 24–28 µm over the oceanic region. Based on our observation we argue that the relation between lightning and mean cloud ice size follow the curve linear pattern, and not linear.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Pansy (Viola cornuta) is a facultative long-day plant that flowers from October until March in Turkey. During the winter months, low light levels can limit plant growth and development. Light emitting diodes (LEDs) can provide supplemental lighting in greenhouses which produce same light intensity with less energy than conventional incandescent lighting. Light emitting diode technologies have enabled affordable and efficient light systems to be installed in greenhouses and plastic tunnels in the field. In this experiment we evaluated the effects of supplemental red-orange LED lightening on the growth and development of pansy cv. Blue Blotch grown in plastic tunnels. The energy, which LEDs are to consume, was provided through a solar panel system with the aim of drawing attention to the cleanliness of solar energy source. Five hours of supplement LED lighting was applied after dusk starting from November to February. Pansy growth and development parameters were compared with non-light supplied control plants. Supplemental LED lighting significantly increased plant biomass weight, flower number and leaves number at the rate of 52%, 72%, and 47%, respectively. Moreover, LED lighting increased plant growth rate (0.109 and 0.306 g of fresh weight), compared with the no light control. LED lighting, however, had no effect on length of stems, number of branches and the diameter of flowers. Thus, this study indicated that pansies are light limited during the winter months and supplemental LED lighting can significantly increase pansy growth and development.

Abstract:
This paper examines the interaction between architecture and lighting, highlighting their cooperative connection in creating captivating experiences within interior spaces. The study is based on a qualitative research approach and explores three interconnected themes, which are ‘Light as a Tool of Emphasis, the Dynamic Emphasis of Daylight, and the Appeal of the Flexibility of Lighting in Emphasis’. When examining the various aspects of lighting in architecture, the initial theme is its significant influence on the way users perceive and behave. Examining both qualitative and quantitative elements, this theme explores the factors of visibility, colour rendering, and emotional reactions elicited by various lighting designs. This theme also emphasizes the use of modern lighting design in homes, with fixtures that fulfil both practical and visual purposes. In addition to its traditional relationship with energy efficiency, the second theme looks into the dynamic role of daylight in architectural spaces. With this theme, architects can evaluate the qualitative characteristics of daylight by utilizing a matrix consisting of 10 shades, which provides them with a conceptual framework. This theme also highlights the interaction between natural and artificial lighting, demonstrating how they collectively impact visibility, aesthetics, and energy efficiency. The third theme emphasizes the importance of the flexibility of lighting design, enabling it to adapt to various spatial roles. Lighting that is focused on human needs can be adjusted in intensity and colour temperature to promote flexibility in the use of space, enhance the well-being of inhabitants, and utilise for a range of aesthetic possibilities. Integration of smart lighting augments adaptability and intelligence in architectural lighting. Synthesizing these concepts, the discussion section of this paper highlights lighting's dynamic narrative role, transcending utilitarian approaches. It presents architects and designers as storytellers constructing experiences through sophisticated light utilization, resonating with the human condition. Acknowledging its qualitative nature, the study recommends further research avenues. It suggests quantitative investigations into the psychological and physiological implications of distinct lighting schemes and advocates refining typologies for diverse architectural situations. In conclusion, this paper improves lighting design's status as a dynamic, integrated architectural story component. Architects are taught to embrace their position as architects of engaging stories through the skilful instrumentation of light.

Abstract:
As with any other product, having electricity of a certain quality is very important for consumers. Its quality has become the key feature that can be disturbed by loads based on power electronic devices. Electricity producers are striving to provide reliable and quality electricity supply to consumers. Public lighting systems that are based on LED lighting technology can potentially positively or negatively affect the power quality because they contain power electronics components in LED drivers. Because of that, two 7-day measurements were conducted on the same public lighting branch but with different lighting technologies (high pressure sodium, known as HPS and LED technology). Results of the measurements were analysed and compared. By analysing the results, other problems were also identified by using LED lighting technology. These problems are addressed in the conclusion of the paper.

Abstract:
Currently, developing nations around the world rely heavily on the use of biomass and fossil fuels for cooking, lighting, and warmth due to a lack of access to clean fuels and constant electricity supply. Unfortunately, the use of these materials has the side effect of emitting of harmful pollutants into the air. Constant exposure to some of these emissions has led to the death of millions of people around the world, with women and children disproportionately affected due to greater amounts of time spent indoors. The work focused on indoor air pollution from lightning sources in developing countries and the negative impacts of cases of ill-health and mortality. The techniques adopted for the research comprised extensive and intensive review of literature on lightning sources. Resources used encompassed internet materials, current reports and recent publications by researchers of note. The findings show that there are associated pollutants, the prevention and the latest technologies for control the pollutants. It was concluded that the dearth of research in lighting sources as sources of indoor air pollution is needed to be addressed by researchers. Also, policy implications to improve electricity deficits should be embarked upon by governments to discourage the use of fossils and biomass for lighting indoors.
