Abstract:
This article presents an architectural framework of an expert system in the social area domain, and describes the design and the process of development of the expert system. The designed system is intended for the evaluation of quality of life (QL). The development of expert system for quality of life evaluation is a new information technology derived from artificial intelligence research. The new expert system will contain knowledge about sets of factors and indicators, which may be used for quality of life measure, as followings: equal protection by the law; freedom from discrimination; right to be treated equally without regard to gender, race, language, religion, political beliefs, etc. Details of the expert system for quality of life evaluation, its basic modules, design and some implementation details are also explained. The system uses the vast database and the knowledge acquired from social experts. The system is being developed in C Language Integrated Production System CLIPS. The expert system, described in this paper, is called QLIFEX, and it has already been designed so it uses the same knowledge for the following function: to provide expert evaluation for quality of life in the social area. The knowledge for the expert system will be acquired from domain experts, texts and other related sources.

Abstract:
The emotional stress and uncertainties associated with foreign exchange (forex) trading due to the high risk of losing the investment capital has left most forex traders in a state of indecision on the best methodology to apply for achieving long term profit. The provision of lot sizes, leverages, take profits and stop losses in forex trading implies that very high profit can be made within a very short time with the same capital, but at the same time, very high losses can be incurred. On one hand, this provision often prompts a set of traders to become greedy by increasing their take profit levels, lot sizes and leverages, which in turn increases their probability of losing out. On the other hand, the provision creates doubts and induces the fear of losses in some other set of traders. Consequently, these set of conservative traders employ the use of relatively small lot sizes, low leverages and low values of take profit and high stop loss levels. This in turn often results in a devastating effect on the investment capital due to lost opportunities and resulting losses. The problem of losses in forex trading effort is compounded by the fact that many programmers and developers of forex expert advisors do not adopt a software life cycle, having learned only how to write codes to program the trading platform. Furthermore, software engineering professionals who understand the import of software development life cycles soon discover that conventional software life cycles are not capable of effectively handling the complexity of the forex market. This paper models the human characteristics of greed, fear and doubt as manifested by traders in forex trading using selected expert advisors’ properties. It proposes Facts, Analysis, Implementation, Testing and Hope (FAITH) software life cycle model for Forex trading profitability to tackle the problem of indecision in the development of forex expert advisors. The proposed model was implemented on a live trading platform for a period of three months and compared with doubt, fear and greed approach to trading. The results showed that while a level of greed can be profitable, FAITH software life cycle produced more profitable results and can be adopted for forex trading. Abstract:
Abstract The author, a school principal with significant classroom responsibilities recounts his journey towards authenticity as an independent teacher-researcher. His career as a researcher began in the scientific-knowledge tradition and then moved into the practical-knowledge tradition. He describes how Donald Schön, the father of reflective practice, has transformed his professional life, leading him to develop a deeply thoughtful practice, one that makes use of the literature to augment, challenge, and legitimise the work he does in his school. The author delves into the messy world of the professional experiment, and the idea that professionals can, and do, act and think differently to third-person researchers. Finally, the author shares his story about how the members of a virtual community of scholars have facilitated his move from the periphery of the researching community into an authentic and valued practitioner-colleague with a personal theory of practice

Abstract:
Abstract The lives of Appalachian clients may be easily misunderstood in the context of capital cases. This article describes my work as an expert witness providing culturally-informed life histories of the clients and narratives making their life stories meaningful. The purpose is to convince the judge or jury that there are reasons for the crime that were beyond the defendant’s control and that the defendant has the potential for successful adaptation to prison life so that the sentencing outcome will be life in prison rather than death. Cultural competency is required to fairly represent Appalachian clients facing the death penalty. Defense counsels typically bring in cultural expert witnesses to assist in interpreting the life of clients from groups outside the American mainstream. I have served in this capacity in seven capital cases involving Appalachian clients. In this article I review what is involved in cultural expert witness work for Appalachian clients in the mitigation phase of capital cases. First, mitigation itself is explained in the context of the legal system.

Abstract:
The defamation of minority ethnics and groups by the authority and the majority has been exposed by the media throughout history. This condition is contrary to the Islamic concept of rahmatan lil’alamin. The concept will not be materialized if the expert of humanitarian law does not involve in the formulation of Islamic humanitarian law. This topic is proposed by the author to persuade the expert of Islamic law to be more active in exploring the concept of prosperous life according to Islam. The author does not explore the topic from legal point of view but rather from historical point of view that crime and genocide has colored global life. If this condition is not addressed immediately and appropriately, we should concern that misguidance will be always characterized our life. Persuading humanitarian law expert is a scientist contribution to create a prosperous life and prevent a conflict. International humanitarian law is a part of international law consisting of diplomatic law, maritime law, law of international treaty, and space law. Due to its significance, it necessitates Islam to coloring humanitarian law. Islam may contribute to humanitarian law through the expert of Islamic law. Islam may be used as a frame of humanitarian law because it establishes a world full of compassion without any form of discrimination.

AbstractThis case study analysed the expert judgments of a rehabilitation counsellor. The counsellor was given 37 accident victims' self-ratings of health, energy, daily activities, self-esteem, personal relations, financial resources and living conditions. The accident victims also rated their own overall quality of life as poor or good. The expert was required to make judgments about whether the quality of life was poor or good in each case and matched the ratings of the accident victims in 64.8% of cases. The results suggest that under conditions of uncertainty and complexity an expert may be more accurate than chance but still fail to use the properties of information to their maximum advantage.

Abstract:
While the benefits of community life engagement (CLE) for individuals with intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) are clear, high-quality day services and supports remain largely undefined. This study interviewed “experts” in the field of CLE in order to seek agreement about what constitutes “best practices” for day services and supports that lead to CLE. Using a semistructured interview protocol, we asked 13 experts in the field, representing diverse standpoints, about their delivery and utilization of supports. Four overarching themes emerged: (Guidepost 1) Individualize supports for each person; (Guidepost 2) Promote community membership and contribution; (Guidepost 3) Use human and social capital to decrease dependence on paid supports; and (Guidepost 4) Ensure that supports are outcome-oriented and regularly monitored. Recommendations are offered for the field.
