Full textAs part of a comparative study, this work aims to analyze, by bringing them together for the first time, the creative worlds of the Italian writer Dino Buzzati (1906 – 1972) and his French colleague Claude Louis-Combet (1932 –), according to the flesh and soul duality, which is a constant in their works. Both authors, through the fictionalized autobiography, the mythology reworking, as an original vision of figurative art, expressed sensitivity and imagination surprisingly close. They have been accompanied by legendary figures and fellow artists, to guide the reader into the mystical and fantasy dimension of his unconscious

Full textThis thesis questions the political history of the French Reformers at the beginning of the seventeenth century through the prism of the notion of freedom : freedom as a defense of the legal gains conferred by the Nantes edict regime, but also as a capacity for action. Far from considering the Huguenots as the passive victims of an «all Catholic France», it considers them as political actors. This capacity to act is analysed in two stages: first, we examine the characteristics underlying this freedom of action in the context of the seventeenth century, through a study of the place given to institutions, memory, union and language in Reformed practices. We then study the «implementation» of this political freedom, questioning the evolutions of the Huguenot party, from the relationship to the institutions, to the nobility, to the language strategies following the death of Henri IV. Finally, we dedicate a last part to the «killing» of this political culture: the end of the Huguenot party, widely documented, is not the result of internal dissension, but of a political will that seeks to attack this freedom
Garcia, Marie-Thérèse. "Le territoire d'Arturo Pérez-Reverte : entre littérature populaire et littérature érudite." Toulon, 2005. http://www.theses.fr/2005TOUL3002.
Full textThis thesis, devoted to historical romances, detective stories, novels of adventure of Arturo Pérez-Reverte aims at highlighting the way the author bridges the gap between popular and scholarly fiction. Starting from a definition of both these literary genres, the background which favoured the emergence of this new form for a new reading public serves as introduction. Next, the way the novelist, in the tradition of popular fiction, blends the artifices of cinema and soap opera in his historical romances, on the one hand and the devices of quest and enquiry in his detective stories on the other, is examined. Then the covert or overt element of intertexuality available to the reader capable of deciphering the various layers of meaning and rewriting is referred to. The influence of Borges and Eco— labyrinthine construction, delight in mystification, and constant swing between realism and phantasy — constitutes the fourth and final part

Full textAl-Ḥaǧǧāǧ b. Yūsuf al-Ṯaqafī is considered by Islamic medieval historiography as the archetypal man of tyrannical power. Having successfully dealt with many revolts, he posed a moral problem to Muslim historians, to the extent that he died of natural causes, without being punished by God. How then to account for his turbulent times, his actions, his distrust vis-à-vis religious symbols, massacres he committed? We are trying to demonstrate that by using satire and irony, historians and writers who have written about him have responded, each in its own way, this thorny issue by drawing a black portrait of him, touching on all aspects of the person. Building on the accomplishments of Paul Ricœur and especially Hayden White, we also show that Muslim historians intervened significantly in the composition of their works to guide their narratives according to their moral conception and “ideological” own, offering portraits various al-Ḥaǧǧāǧ. The result is skeptical (al-Ṭabarī), ironic (al-Balāḏurī) or satirical and very pro-‘alide (al-Mas‘ūdī) readings. The study of three non-historical texts broadens the vision and demonstrate if necessary proximity between history and adab in medieval times. At the same time, we believe we have found many examples refuting the thesis that a canonical history was written under the Caliphate Abbasid
Actis-Grosso, Maurice. "Giorgio Bassani entre histoire et mémoire : passion commémorative et maturité conflictuelle." Paris 4, 1991. http://www.theses.fr/1991PA040018.
Full textGenerated by the deep impact of the Shoah or genocide, the Jewish contemporary Italian writer Giorgio Bassani’s works, known under the titles of Il romanzo di Ferrara ( narrative production ) and In rima e senza ( poetical production ), are the point of elaboration of a memorial saga in which history and memory, autobiography and historical inspiration balance. The search of significant indications of a character and psychological individual evolution is made through fantasmatical partial autobiographical projections on screen-protagonists who become progressively hypostatical to the explicit identification of the narrator and the author, confirmed by the autobiographical pact. The macrocosmic nazi-fascist antisemitic persecution outlook, centered on the microcosmic prism of the Jewish community of Ferrara, divulges the narrator-author's evolution towards a maturity in fact conflictual. The commemorative passion of the tragedy of the holocaust ends in the dawn of a shrouded Jewish identity that correspond to a stopped chronology at the level of the author's literary consciousness. Out of the prospect of the Shoah, this creative cycle concludes with an involution
Grazioli-Rozet, Isabelle. "Ernst Jünger : sentinelle entre mythe et histoire." Nancy 2, 1992. http://www.theses.fr/1992NAN21020.
Full textThis reflection on history, myth and the human condition in Jünger's work has as its objective to reconstruct metaphysics, to release the different strata of the spiritual and intellectual maturing of this controversial author. The study resituates Jünger's questions regarding the meaning of history, his explanations about the phenomena he served and finally his solutions regarding the problematic of m modernity. The thesis analyses Jünger's "heroic" period which he believed influenced history, the progressive transformation into a doctor of civilization and of the human soul, thus delivering diagnoses and therapy. The thesis finally brings out the hierarchy between histories. The science of man subjected to time and to the metaphysical world; Jünger wanted to re-establish order between men and gods, between things profane and sacred
Théodore, Jean-Marie. "Les antilles entre l'assimilation, la negritude et l'antillanite." Lyon 2, 1996. http://www.theses.fr/1996LYO20036.
Full textSince aime cesaire published his first literary work : "notebook of a return to my native land", french west indian litterature has been studied from its ideological aspect. That's why it is considered as either anticolonialist, black african, "francophone", caribbean, creole or american, depending on the reader's point of view. It is supposed to be a weapon to fight for national independance or against alienation. As new concepts such as creolity and americanity have appeared, brought forth by a new generation of writers, we have to reassess this point of view. Such concepts as "assimilation, negritude and antillanity" have thence to be reestimated as well as traditionnel criticism of those concepts. Creolity and americanity result from a new apprehension of west indian history leading to a reassessenent of the idea of assimilation and also benefit from progress made in the field of linguistics of the creole language. Supporters of creolity are hence forward stressing the "diversalite", aspect of creole culture in the french west indies, while vincent placoly, considering the fact that the french antilles are part of america, insists on their americanity. From, now on, it is more important for french west indian writers to express their creole or antillean identity than indulge into ideological or political considerations (such considerations are however still to be found in their writings). Now, we may consider those main literary trends, that is negritude, antillanity, americanity an creolity, as so many aspects of poetics and when dealing with those pieces of literature and we should mostly take their literary aspects into account
