The University of Mississippi Library created a profile to provide linking from Google Scholar (GS) to library resources in 2005. Although Google Scholar does not provide usage statistics for institutions, use of Google Scholar is clearly evident in looking at library link resolver logs. The purpose of this project is to examine users of Google Scholar with existing data from interlibrary loan transactions and library Web site click-through logs and analytics. Questions about user status and discipline, as well as behaviors related to use of other library resources, are explored.

Abstract:
Abstract The US National Library of Medicine regularly collects summary data on direct use of Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) resources. The summary data sources include UMLS user registration data, required annual reports submitted by registered users, and statistics on downloads and application programming interface calls. In 2019, the National Library of Medicine analyzed the summary data on 2018 UMLS use. The library also conducted a scoping review of the literature to provide additional intelligence about the research uses of UMLS as input to a planned 2020 review of UMLS production methods and priorities. 5043 direct users of UMLS data and tools downloaded 4402 copies of the UMLS resources and issued 66 130 951 UMLS application programming interface requests in 2018. The annual reports and the scoping review results agree that the primary UMLS uses are to process and interpret text and facilitate mapping or linking between terminologies. These uses align with the original stated purpose of the UMLS.

Abstract:
The public library is an abode of information and knowledge, committed to education, culture, and Library advocacy. Though public libraries are called “people’s University” and cater to varied categories of users and their infinite information needs without any discrimination but still in India many such libraries are still not providing effective services to the user community. In India, out of 28 states, 19 states have already enacted library legislation with the latest entrant being Telangana State (2015) and though Haryana State enacted the Act in the year 1989 but still very few comprehensive studies conducted either by any public library or the users’(RRRLF). Well, the present study attempts to check out the ground reality of the State Central Library along with 2 District Libraries of the State of Haryana in terms of library collection, services, facilities, and user satisfaction. A descriptive survey research design was employed, and 500 library users across three public libraries were surveyed using a structured questionnaire, out of which 396 responses(n=396) were found eligible for the analysis. The study found an improvement in the use of public libraries in the region but identified some inadequate facilities like lack of enhanced library services along with updated collection, and poor internet/ICT services as major factors affecting user satisfaction. The findings suggest that the Haryana government should increase funding to public libraries to acquire adequate information resources and ICT facilities, thereby increasing the utilization of public libraries and meeting the information needs of the users.

Abstract:
This study investigates the dissatisfaction attributions and complaining behavior of public library users. This paper analyses a survey of ninety-nine randomly selected public library users in the Federal Territory of Labuan, Malaysia. Data was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The survey revealed that public library users in the Federal Territory of Labuan, Malaysia, who believe that service failure is due to the negligence of library staff and perceive the service of the library to be free, are more likely to complain to a third party. Loyal users also prefer to complain to a third party about their dissatisfaction. Some users complain directly to the personnel or person in charge of the department or chief librarian at the time of dissatisfaction. Users’ complaints can be a powerful resource for the library management to use in making strategic and tactical decisions that could prevent them from switching services or performing actions such as abandoning the library and no longer using library services.

Abstract:
Purpose – Considering the perceived significance of librarians and information experts as professional information seekers and information seeking educators and of the institutional setting of information work, very little is known about the information practices of librarians and information professionals, their contexts and implications for libraries and their users. The aim of this study is to explore the information interactions of library professionals within and in relation to the context of the setting of the library. Design/methodology/approach – The analysis is based on a qualitative case study of a large North European city library. Material was collected using information seeking diaries, interviews and ethnographic observation in the library space. Findings – The information practices of librarians are contextual to the setting of the library within which the meeting of the assumptions of library users, of the use of that particular system plays a significant role. The systemic interplay of librarians, library users and other parts of the system constrains the breadth of the available information at libraries, but at the same time, keeping to a particular set of shared norms and practices of library use also facilitates the use of the system. Research limitations/implications – The generalisability of the findings is limited by the fact that they are based on an individual case study. Practical implications – The systemic nature of library and its reproduction in a process of structuration underlines the need to develop information services in libraries from a holistic perspective that takes into account the practical implications of the shared norms and assumptions of how a library should work. Originality/value – There is little earlier research on the information practices of library and information professionals, particularly with specific reference to its implications for libraries and their users.

Abstract:
The child, when hospitalized, loses the freedom to play, as he is accustomed to, for being confined in a hospital environment, subject to a medical treatment that can cause pain and fear. The adult who accompanies needs information about the disease and the treatment of the child. The infant hospital library attempts to meet the needs of both of its users. However, such a library has not been thoroughly considered for scientific inquiry. Hence, this paper investigates its structure and actions by addressing three subjects as follows. First, a software was developed specifically for this type of library, which registered the catalog, users and loans data of two years of service of a voluntary infant hospital library in a Brazilian state public hospital. Then, an exploratory study of the reading preferences of the users while hospitalized was carried out, whose findings follow. Adults play an important role in encouraging and assisting recreational reading, which occurred in all age groups of a child and similarly between genders. Furthermore, users preferred to read literature, religious and comic books in their native language that generally consist of short stories. Finally, collection development policies were determined based on the users’ reading preferences.

Abstract:
Purpose – The aim of this paper is to provide an in-depth examination of the use and non-use of text reference service among library users, seeking to evaluate the service from library users' perspective and hence enhance the professional understanding of the best practices of text reference service. Design/methodology/approach – A survey study was conducted among library users, examining user demographics, user's texting behavior, user awareness of text reference service, and users' use or non-use of the service. Findings – Findings suggest that the majority of library users have not used the service and their non-use is primarily attributed to their lack of awareness. Users who have used the service report a high degree of satisfaction and appreciate the convenience, ease of use and speediness of the service. Practical implications – The paper helps interested libraries develop an enriched view of texting's affordance as a reference service venue and thus make more informed decisions in successfully implementing the service. Originality/value – Text reference is the most recent reference development and it does not have a large body of literature. Current reports are primarily of a single library's experience and rarely investigate users' experience with text reference service. This paper fills the void in the literature by presenting a thorough study of text reference service from the user's point-of-view.

Abstract:
User satisfaction can be achieved if the library provides good quality service. Therefore, libraries must focus on user satisfaction. To be able to find out the services that users want, need and expect, it is necessary to conduct research on users. This is done so that there is no difference in perception regarding what the library provides to users and what users actually want and need. Based on the problems above, the research aims to analyze the quality of services provided by the Padang State University FEB Library using the ServQual method. In the ServQual model, the user's perception of the service received (perceived service) is the result of a series of internal company decisions and activities. The quality of service provided by Padang State University FEB Library still cannot satisfy customers. This can be seen from the negative gap value of the ServQual score. Of the 23 service attributes, there are 13 attributes that have a negative value that cannot be accepted by users and 10 attributes that can still be tolerated by users.
