Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to explore the experience and to identify the best practices for modernizing the content and organizational structure of multilevel training of librarians in China. The methodology. The study has used a systematic approach, which allowed to consider all components of the Chinese higher education in the specialties “Library, Archive and Information Science”, to establish the continuity of educational levels of librarians, to find out the factors determining the training system’s modernization. There was carried out comparative and content analysis of the Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral higher education levels educational programs, implemented by Chinese universities in the specialty “Library Science”, “Information Management and Information Systems”. This allowed to determine the general and the specifics of the Information Field Science training in the People’s Republic of China (PRC), to establish interdisciplinarity educational components, to substantiate the objective strengthening of the information component in the content of higher education in library science. The results. The article has looked into the content and structure of 227 different levels educational programs (EP) of the information specialists training, with 41% of them being the Bachelor’s level EP, 49% — Master’s, and 9% — Educational-Scientific Programs (ESP) for the Doctor of Management degree (an equivalent to the Doctor of Philosophy) in Information Sciences, provided in 108 universities in China. There were clarified the EP peculiarities: about 40% of them are programs dedicated to Information Management and Information Systems (Program in Information Management & Information Systems); 35% — EP in Library Science (Program in Library Science); 31.5% — EP in Archive Science (Program in Archive Science). In terms of content, most EPs are interdisciplinary, which is due to the national information infrastructure digitalization and the focus of its components to support the basic technological processes of the information management life cycle. It is established that Chinese universities adhere to the IFLA Guidelines for Professional Library and Information Science (LIS) Educational Programs. The scientific topicality. It is substantiated that in the digital information market the content of modern librarian training should be updated with such relevant interdisciplinary educational components as: “Principles of competitive intelligence and artificial intelligence”, “Electronic library and consolidated information management”, “Intelligent control systems”, “Information security systems”, “Economics of Management and Information Industry”, “Methods of data mining”, “Knowledge extraction and management”, “Analysis and design of information systems”. The practical significance. Ukrainian institutions of higher education when improving educational programs in the can use the study results. Addressing to the best foreign practices of the library specialists training will allow increasing their competitiveness in the world information market and promoting better efficiency of the Ukrainian libraries work in the conditions of the society digitalization.

Abstract:
Over the past ninety years, and more so over the recent twenty years, Library and Information Science schools in China have done a lot of work in collaborating and resource sharing. These activities consists of establishing LIS schools, training of teachers, compilation of teaching materials, change of names, application for the authority to enroll graduates and conferring degrees both of master and doctor, and academic exchanges. The demands of society and the policies of the government are important factors promoting the collaboration and resource sharing. Academic exchanges, such as academic meetings, ex-change visits and research papers, are the main channels for LIS schools to collaborate and share re-sources with each other.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the rise of modern Chinese libraries between the1840s and the 1930s in the context of educational reform, intellectual development, national regeneration and state building. It focuses on how educational reform and other factors influenced the way in which modern libraries came into being in China. It argues that the establishment of modern libraries in China was a complicated and long process, as China followed neither the “industrialisation and democracy” model of the United States nor the “modernisation” model of Meiji Japan. Modern libraries were introduced into China in the closing years of the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911) to facilitate educational reform and national regeneration. The Nationalist government, established in 1928, further stimulated the expansion of Chinese libraries as part of the government’s state building efforts. This thesis examines the Chinese case in the emergence of modern libraries: the case of “underdevelopment” with distinctive Chinese characteristics. To explore the factors that contributed to the underdevelopment of modern Chinese libraries as they emerged, this thesis employs a case study of the Metropolitan Library of Beijing—the predecessor of the National Library of China—between 1909 and 1937 in terms of its formation, early development, and problems. This analysis reveals that both the macro and micro factors conducive to library development were not present in China before the 1920s. Even when the conditions improved during the 1920s and the 1930s, especially during the Nanjing Decade, the development of modern Chinese libraries was far from satisfactory for various reasons, with low library consciousness being an important one. The Conclusion of this thesis outlines the continuing impediment of low library consciousness in China today.

The Library and Information Science education in Mainland China has been around for nearly a hundred years since the Boone Library School in Wuchang, which was founded in 1920. The development of Library and Information Science education in Mainland China has been developing for a long time, the scale of education is relatively large, and the meaning of the subject is also complicated. In 1978, with the standardization and improvement of the higher education system, the master's education in Library and Information Science began to develop, and nowadays it contains different professions and degree types. Through the Bibliometric method to study the thesis of the master of Library and Information Science, researchers can understand the development track and current situation of the discipline. The research purposes of this study are: (1) explore the meaning of Library and Information Science and master education in mainland China; (2) explore the historical development and influencing factors of master education in Library and Information Science; (3) explore the status of master educational system of Library and Information Science; (4) explore the growth of the number, school productivity and keyword frequency of master's thesis in Library and Information Science in Mainland China. This study explores the historical development and institutional status of the master education of Library and Information Science in Mainland China through Document Analysis and Content Analysis of Websites. Through the Bibliometric method, the researcher studies the master's thesis of Library and Information Science in Mainland China and obtains the following conclusions: (1) The significance of the master's education in Library and Information Science in Mainland China is to cultivate academic research and professional practice talents.; (2) The development of master's education in Library and Information Science in mainland China has experienced four stages and is influenced by four factors: economic, political, cultural and scientific; (3) The Master of Library and Information Science education system in Mainland China has a large enrollment scale , with many majors and the largest number of Master’s degree program in Information Science; (4) Library and Information Science belongs to the first-level subject of Library and Information and Archives Management under Management Science, with academic and professional degree systems; (5) The year 2010 is the node for the degree awarding: the master's degree authorization of Library science and Information science in the early stage, the first-level discipline authorization of Library and Information and Archives Management and authorization of Master of Library and Information Science in the later stage; (6) The enrollment direction and examination subjects of different majors of Library and Information Science education is highly coincident. The main research directions are basic theory, Information Resource Management, Information Service and User Research. The main examination subjects are basic theory, Information (Resource) Management and Information Organizational Rearch and Analysis; (7) The number of teachers is large but the educational status needs to be improved; the professional master's enrollment is larger than the academic master's degree; (8) The curriculum of different majors has a high degree of overlap, mainly for basic theory, information resource management and information retrieval courses.; (9) The number of thesis grew the fastest between 2001 and 2010, with the largest number between 2011 and 2018; (10) Wuhan University's thesis productivity has been leading in the period from 1984 to 2010, after 2011, many high-productivity schools of Master of Library and Information Science have emerged; (11) The keyword frequency display of the master's thesis of Library and Information Science in Mainland China began to pay attention to the basic principles of the field, the library and the intelligence organization itself, and then focused on information and knowledge related fields. In the recent stage, the university library became the most frequently used keyword. In view of the conclusions obtained, the study puts forward the following suggestions: (1) The Master of Library and Information Science education requires a clearer and more authoritative definition; (2)Realizing the regional distribution balance of master's education in Library and Information Science is necessary; (3) Reform the way of enrollment, comprehensively consider the quality of students; (4) The curriculum should reflect the characteristics of different majors and different degree types; (5) Enhance the overall education level of teachers; (6) Educational institutions should strengthen the construction of websites and improve the timeliness and completeness of information disclosure; (7) The thesis database should improve the completeness and accuracy of the papers.
