Full textSonatrach has been always a topic of particular interest for researchers. It was the first attempt of industrialization in Algeria during the period 1960-1970 and then the source of debts and crisis from 1986 to 1994. With the rebound of oil price, it became a way out of the crisis and a financial source for economic growth. Il is difficult to study Sonatrach independently of its national and international environment. It was created in a very complicated political context and today it is considered as a means of regulation and pressure. The level of its performance has impacts the macroeconomic policy of Algeria. The Algerian systemic adjustments and adaptations have affected the strategy orientation of Sonatrach (1979, 1986 1991 and 2005). The objective of his thesis is to analyze the evolution of the hydrocarbon sector in Algeria between 1958 and 2006. In the first part, we examine the dynamics of the market to understand its functioning and impact of the commodity on the geopolitical strategies of actors in particular as regards security of supply. The nature of the assets involved in the oil industry is key in choosing the particular actors in strategic alliances. In the second part, with the principal component analysis (PCA), we examine the evolution of every activity of Sonatrach and of its partners. The analysis of the legal activity conducted allows us to explain the context in which the laws were introduced (n° 086-14 and n° 91-22; n° 05-07) and how they impacting the performance of Sonatrach and shareholders

Full textAlgeria is ranked as the ninth largest natural gas producing countries, representing 2.4% of the world natural gas roduction. It held the fifteenth place in the world and the third in Africa with 9.2 billion barrels of oil in terms of proven reserves, which represents 0.9% of world oil reserves. To the good quality of Algerian oil, ideal for its low sulfur content, which makes it very easy to refine, a clement geology and an advantageous nearness from the European markets are added. This proximity is enhanced by the new trans-mediterranean pipelines Medgaz, the future Galsi and by a fleet of LNG tankers. With an economy dependent on hydrocarbon revenues, constituting 97% of its exports, Algeria is set up in an energy trap. In this field the Algerian company responsible for the sector, Sonatrach, holds control of the hydrocarbons chain on all its levels. The law 2006-10, relating to hydrocarbons, at first sight responds to forward-looking development of the Sonatrach, knowing that the Company is looking also to break free from the state and to plan its own expansionist plan in a modern management model, aligning at the same time with the competitive offers proposed by the international firms leading in this field. The analysis of the policy of the company and the Algerian hydrocarbons sector in general, contribute to answer to problematic of the strategic choices available to the company

Full textCommercialization of Caspian hydrocarbons in the post-Soviet era leads to an effect of impact on the development processes of Azerbaïdjan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan by determining not only the changing characteristics of their dependency through transformation of "metropolis- stellite relations" into "center- periphery relations", but also the essences of their economic growth by directly shaping both sector-based evolutions as well as structural adjustments. The dependency of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan on the actors that dominate exploration, production, transportation and marketing phases perpetuates by a changing characteristic. With regard to economic growth certain negative effects, such as the expansion of energy sector against agriculture and non-oil sectors, growing populist pollicies of the governments, quasi-fiscal activities, decreasing taxation rates and appreciation of Manat and Tenge are discernible. To conclude, it is possible to say that Azerbaidjan has a tendency to turn into a Rentier state which suffers from the Dutch disease, Kazakhstan seems to be at crossroads between a healthy development process and a process of economic growth that includes certain indicators of the Dutch disease and Turkmenistant has already entered in its own way forwarded towards Dutch disease under the administartion of a Rentier state

Full textThe thesis deals with the question of hydrocarbons in Tunisia. Natural abundance non renewable, the liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons constitute a factor of growth and development for this country which can't lose interest in their research and their exploitation. To that effect, the thesis offer a double approach, the first one intends to examine the juridical context administrating the different processes and activities of the petroleum compagnies in tunisia it relates the evolution registred since 1948 and tries to draw the features that distinguished it. It's a static approach insofar as it is intended to examine the basis regulation to which is subjected each petroleum firm. The second part intends a more dynamic approach insofar as it will endeavour to examine beyond the relationship between the state and the petroleum compagnies to which the effort of promotion is aimed at, the considerable complexity and stake which imply their conventional relations and the solutions to the situations and preoccupations of each other. The impact of this juridic Tunisian petroleum context remains reliant to the strategical, political and technological evolution of the international petroleum industry

Full textUntil the independence in 1968, Mauritius has been dependent on its sugar monoproduction. Weakened by a system relying on a mono-economy, it engaged itself for the past 30 years toward the agricultural diversification and the modernisation of its economy. In order to do that, it had to rely on the sugar manufacturer's behalf. The capitals coming from the sugar, at that time was the only vector on the Mauritian economy which was going to be invested towards new and modern objectives, being the E. P. Z. (export processing zone), installed by the government in 1970, and the tourist industry. Today the Franco Mauritians continue to master the capital from the sugar manufactures, control the major textile group of the E. P. Z. (Floreal knitwear) and the most prestigious hotels belonging to the sun and beach-comber groups. Coming from the first French migrators at the early days of colonisation in the 18th century, the Franco Mauritians today only represent a very small minority in this multi-ethnic community of Mauritius. Approximately 7000, they make less than 1% of the total population. Extremely attached to their origins, the Franco Mauritians seem to have stay in a traditional social structure. The family still plays a predominant and determinant role. The endogamy system is still frequent and explains the "preservation of the ethnic group". The opening up towards the other communities remains essentially socio-economic. It's the strong social cohesion among the group, being traditional, which explains it's economic and dynamic strength in which evoluate the Franco Mauritian group. A short fail in this social cohesion will, without any doubt, weaken the economy of this community
