A Work Project, presented as part of the requirements for the Award of a Masters Degree in Management from the NOVA – School of Business and Economics
With a growing scope of business, IES felt the need to better structure its internal information and processes so a one-on-one communication strategy with its stakeholders, a key competitive advantage, could be maintained. This work project intends to lay the ground for CRM implementation in IES, reviewing the literature on relationship marketing and analyzing the environment and context in which the institute functions and its day-today operations. The results suggest that IES could benefit from the implementation of the Salesforce.com CRM cloud-based software, creating interrelated databases for its three main groups of stakeholders – social entrepreneurs, social initiatives and entities.

Abstract:
Lung cancer is the main cause of death by cancer worldwide. Despite the variety of available treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immune therapy, the average 5-year survival is 60%. One of the underlying reasons is a very high variability in patients’ susceptibility to treatment, explained by genetic background and since recently – our microbiota. The term microbiota includes bacteria, archaea, fungi, viruses and protists that inhabit our organism. The studies in animal models show that the gut microbiota (focused on bacteria) has a crucial role in host’s responsiveness to therapy through the stimulation of immune system. In this light, several “communication axes” between the gut and distal tumour sites have started to develop, including the “gut-lung” axis. However, the resident microbiota in the lungs that could directly influence the tumour response and interact with the gut microbiota has been scarcely characterised. To enable further development of the idea of the “gut-lung-lung cancer” axis, we included 18 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients eligible for surgery and analysed the microbiota from four different lung samples (non-malignant, peritumoural and tumour tissue and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid; BAL), saliva and faeces by high-throughput sequencing. We also analysed several immune markers, as lymphocytic tumour infiltrate, Th and neutrophil profiles and cytokines in BAL and blood, and inflammatory markers in faeces along with short-chain fatty acids. Focusing first on the lungs, we show that BAL microbiota represents a significantly distinct community compared to lung tissue microbiota by providing detailed characterisation of the four different lung samples. Since tumours in lower lobes are reported as the ones with the worse prognosis, we investigated how the lobe location affected the microbiota composition. Peritumoural tissue and BAL microbiota were identified as the most affected in both abundance and diversity, and tumour as the least affected. However, phylum Firmicutes, previously reported as elevated in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease compared to controls, was found more abundant in microbiota from lower lung lobes. Therefore, we propose that both increase in Firmicutes and extensive changes in peritumoural tissue could be associated to increased aggressiveness of the lower lobe tumours. Next, we show that the presence of metastatic lymph nodes (LN), negative prognostic marker in NSCLC, significantly influence the local tissue microbiota in relation to its respiratory profile. We reported that anaerobic bacteria were more abundant within the tumour in the presence of metastatic LN, and aerobic bacteria within the one without it. Moreover, exactly inverse was observed for the same bacteria in extratumoural tissues. Along with migratory hypothesis depending on the bacterial preference for growth conditions shaped by tumour’s features, we propose several biomarkers for detection of metastatic LN that might facilitate their detection without imposing LN biopsy. Finally, we showed that BAL microbiota is the most associated to the local immune response and independent of the presence of metastatic LN. Future research will focus on the exploration of the interaction between the lung microbiota, systemic immunity and the gut microbiota

Abstract:
Archaeobotanical evidences for the presence of wild plants at Fremont archaeological sites are numerous. However, little can be positively argued for why those plants are present, if they were used by site inhabitants, and how they were used. Additionally, there are likely several wild plants that were used but that do not appear in the archaeobotanical record as pollen or macrobotanicals, the two most commonly identified plant remains. I argue that it is possible to provide better interpretations for how and why the Fremont used plants by researching how their historic counterparts, the Goshute, Shoshone, Ute, and Southern Paiute, used the same plants that are identified at prehistoric sites. I further argue that a phytolith typology for Fremont archaeology can provide more insight into prehistoric plant use. I demonstrate its utility through a phytolith analysis of ground stone tools from Wolf Village, a Fremont site in Utah County.

Purchase, Cromwell. "The oral application of the Onderstepoort biological products fowl typhoid vaccine, its safety, efficacy and duration of protection in commercial laying hens." Diss., University of Pretoria, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/27188.

Full text
Abstract:
This project was undertaken to establish whether the Onderstepoort Biological Products Fowl Typhoid (OBPft) vaccine registered as an injectable vaccine was effective and safe when administered orally to commercial layers. Its efficacy and duration of protection were compared to the intramuscular injectable route. Commercial brown layer hens were used as they were found to be highly susceptible to Salmonella gallinarum infections. In the safety trial birds were euthanased at timed intervals spanning 4-weeks post vaccination. Necropsies were performed and samples were taken and tested. No clinical signs or mortalities could be attributed to the OBPft vaccine. No active shedding of the vaccine strain could be detected. Slight pathological changes were noted with both routes of vaccination; however these changes were transient, returning to normal within the observation period. The injected group showed a better serological response with the serum agglutination test than the orally vaccinated groups. In the duration of protection trial the two routes of vaccination were compared, the birds were challenged at three 8-week intervals post vaccination. All the unvaccinated birds died. The protection offered to the vaccinated groups was good when birds were challenged 8 and 16-weeks after vaccination. However, this dipped steeply by the challenge 24-weeks post vaccination. Statistically (ANOVA, p<0.05) it was found that there was no significant difference between the protection offered by either the oral or injected route of vaccination with the OBPft vaccine.

Molinier, Rémi. "Cohomology with twisted coefficients of the geometric realization of linking systems." Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015USPCD021/document.

Full text
Abstract:
The aim of this work is to study the cohomology with twisted coefficients of the geometric realization of linking systems. More precisely, if (S, Ƒ, ℒ) is a p-local finite group, we work on the cohomology H*(\ℒ\, M) of the geometric realization of ℒ with coefficients in a Z(p)[π₁(\ℒ\)]-module M and its links with the Ƒᶜ-stables H*(Ƒᶜ, M) ⊆ H*(S, M) trough the inclusion of BS in \ℒ\. After we give the definition of Ƒᶜ-stable elements , we study the endomorphism of H*(S, M) induced by an Fc-characteristic (S, S)-biset and we show that, if the action is nilpotent- and we assume an hypothesis, we have a natural isomorphism H*(\ℒ\, M) ≌ H* (Fᶜ;M). Secondly, we look at p-solvable actions of π₁(\ℒ\) on M through the notion of p-local subgroups of index a power of p or prime to p. If the action factors through a p'-group, we show that there si also a natural isomorphism. We then work on extending this to any-p-solvable action and we get some positive answer then the p-local finite groupis realizable. Theses leads to the conjecture that it is true for any-p-local finite group and any-p-solvable actions. We also give some tools to study this conjecture on examples. We look at products of p-local finite groups with Kunneth Formula and linking system which can be decomposed in a way which behaves well with Mayer-Vietoris long exact sequence. Finally, we study essential subgroups of wreath productsby Cp. We finish with some examples which illustrate that, in general, we cannot hope an isomorphism between H*(\ℒ\, M) and H*(Ƒᶜ, M)

Woodward, Ian David. "Cable laying ambush games." Thesis, University of Southampton, 2002. https://eprints.soton.ac.uk/50612/.

Full text
Abstract:
A cable laying ambush game is a two-person zero-sum game in which one player wishes to cross some interval while the other player has n cables that he can lay within the interval to ambush the infiltrator. In the literature solutions have been found for some cases in continuous and discrete cable laying ambush games when n = 2. The culmination of this thesis gives a complete solution for this much studied two cable game. However, prior to this numerous important results are established for the n cable game. It is first shown that the continuous game always possesses a value. This is done by showing that optimal strategies in a new finite game are also optimal in the continuous game. Further to this it is then shown that the discrete game can also be reduced to the same finite game and thus shown that it is equivalent to a finite game. This enables us to find many new results in both games. We also carry out much computational work enabling us to convert games into linear programmes and thus find the game value and optimal strategies. Using these techniques, we produce numerous new results in the three cable ambush game. Analysis of the game value function is then carried out which shows that it is a lower semi-continuous function and enables us to show how the game can be divided into regions which share the same value. By combining these with strategies in special cases for the ambusher, we produce a complete solution for the two cable game without having to calculate strategies for the infiltrator.

Full text
Abstract:
Submarine cable systems are a vital and expanding part of the world wide telecommunication network. The systems are laid in the ocean using a cable ship. During the deployment of a submarine cable, the cable ship has only limited information about the behaviour of the cable once it leaves the vessel and begins its descent to the seabed. The present thesis studies the cable dynamics and control during laying operations.
The cable dynamics is modeled using the continuum approach. Using the model developed, the cable configuration and tension are obtained for the two dimensional steady state and transient motions, when different parameters such as the ship velocity, hydrodynamic constant, and current direction, are varied. Also, the out of plane angle of inclination and corresponding maximum displacement for the three dimensional steady state case are determined.
Then the possibility of controlling the cable oscillations by varying the payout rate is explored. In the case of the controlled response the results show that, in principle, the deviation of the in plane angle can be effectively reduced to zero, but the value of the input payout rate needed is unrealistic in practice.

Crossley, Richard James. "Characterisation of tack for automated tape laying." Thesis, University of Nottingham, 2011. http://eprints.nottingham.ac.uk/13983/.

Full text
Abstract:
Automated Tape Laying (ATL) trials using low cost wind energy suitable material and mould tools have been conducted. New materials proved problematic during ATL lay-up and observations of the ATL process show that the prepreg tack and stiffness properties significantly affect lay-up performance. Prepreg tack has not been widely researched within the composites industry due to the absence of a standardised method for characterisation. A new tack and stiffness test has therefore been developed which is representative of the ATL process. The new test was used to investigate the response to process and material variables. Two failure modes were observed and compared to those found in Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSA). Failure modes are associated with the viscoelastic stiffness of the resin. High stiffness appears to result in interfacial failure turning to cohesive failure when stiffness is reduced. A peak in tack is observed to correspond with the transition in failure mode leading to the conclusion that prepreg tack is the result of a chain system rather than a single property. The chain system consists of an interface and bulk components each having individual time and physical variable dependant properties. Tack and stiffness is shown to conform to the Williams-Landel-Ferry (WLF) time-temperature superposition principle for both cohesive and interfacial failure modes. Cohesive viscoelastic and surface energy interface failure mechanisms may be theoretically linked via the Lennard-Jones energy well with molecular jumps triggered by thermal vibrations. This analogy allows both failure phenomenon to simultaneously follow the time temperature superposition principle and is typically demonstrated in LJ dynamic mechanical modelling. The theoretical analogy is used in the explanation of experimental results where tack is essentially thought of as a low energy non-covalent molecular bond or reaction. The experimental technique developed here could allow for the standardisation of tack and stiffness specification for manufacturers. The application of results to ATL production is explored and demonstrated using ATL equipment. The results show that optimum lay-up conditions may be explored offline using the new tack and stiffness test. Results also show promising signs that the WLF relationship could be exploited to greatly Increase lay-up speed and consistency, increasing the attractiveness of the process to wind turbine blade manufacturers. A theoretical results curve is also presented which may allow manufacturers to determine the effect of changes in surface conditions and resin properties on tack.

Abstract:
Given the need for institutions managing natural resources that can be foundations for dealing with challenges like climate change, this dissertation examines more than 100 years of a water resource management system in the Western U.S., in the state of Wyoming. The dissertation identifies the key actors in this system as water users and the water administrators in the state government. The study determines that the Wyoming system distributes property rights in water between users and the state. The study finds that over a century the system has proved itself resilient towards its most longstanding users, in irrigated agriculture. However, the system has lacked a resilient response to new demands, particularly non-consumptive uses of water. In a contribution to theories of institutional change, the dissertation demonstrates the important role in natural resource management systems played by harsh physical conditions such as lack of precipitation, short growing seasons, and difficult terrain. These conditions can create path dependency and dictate the circumstances that allow path-breaking in natural resource management institutions.

Abstract:
A descriptive study examining 4-H programs in Africa, Asia, and Europe was conducted for the National 4-H Council. Program size, scope, structure, organization, and funding varied greatly by country and few of the programs were connected to a university, but many partnered with other 4-H organizations around the world. Program participants were found to be primarily male with few programs specifically for women. A list of content areas provided by the 4-H programs was also obtained and compared to top agricultural commodities in their country. Very few content areas offered by the country aligned with their major agricultural commodities even though programs were available in the United States. The Global 4-H Network has the potential to fill in these holes and provide additional opportunities to global programs.

Anderson, Zann Benjamin. "Laying a Foundation for Computing in Outdoor Recreation." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2019. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/8713.

Full text
Abstract:
Mobile computing allows individuals to bring computing with them into the outdoors. This creates a new situation in which individuals can stay connected even when trying to "get away from it all." Questions arise from this juxtaposition regarding whether the inclusion of computing in these activities is a positive or a negative. Evidence exists supporting both conclusions. We posit that computing can contribute positively to outdoor recreation without distracting. This dissertation details work undertaken in two phases which explores how computing can accomplish this goal. Phase 1 explored how individuals are already using computing technology in hiking, and culminated with the development of a model describing individuals' decisions regarding technology use on the trail. In Phase 2, we developed a vision which navigates the tension between the connection technology provides to our day-to-day lives and the desire to disconnect, along with prototypes which serve as an embodiment of this vision. We found that computing is in wide use by hikers, and through qualitative data analysis we developed a Two Worlds model which describes their decisions regarding technology use when hiking. This model provides a space which can be probed and explored in future work. Our vision guides careful growth in the inclusion of computing in outdoor recreation, allowing computing to support activities without becoming a distraction. Our work makes important empirical, theoretical, and artifact contributions to the field of HCI. It also identifies interesting areas of exploration, some of which have already informed the development of our Two Worlds model, and some of which remain largely unexplored. In this sense, our work has both blazed new trails in exploring computing's place in outdoor recreation and identified "side trails" for further exploration by ourselves and others. We look forward to this work and its results.

Since the end of the long winter of virtual reality (VR) at the beginning of the 2010 decade, many improvements have been made in terms of hardware technologies and software platforms performances and costs. Many expect such trend will continue, pushing the penetration rate of virtual reality headsets to skyrocket at some point in the future, just as mobile platforms did before. In the meantime, virtual reality is slowly transitioning from a specialized laboratory-only technology, to a consumer electronics appliance, opening interesting opportunities and challenges. In this transition, two interesting research questions amount to how 2D-based content and applications may benefit (or be hurt) by the adoption of 3D-based immersive environments and to how to proficiently support such integration. Acknowledging the relevance of the former, we here consider the latter question, focusing our attention on the diversified family of PC-based simulation tools and platforms. VR-based visualization is, in fact, widely understood and appreciated in the simulation arena, but mainly confined to high performance computing laboratories. Our contribution here aims at characterizing the simulation tools which could benefit from immersive interfaces, along with a general framework and a preliminary implementation which may be put to good use to support their transition from uniquely 2D to blended 2D/3D environments.

BACO, ABDUL-AZIZ ISHAK. "TALLOW FOR LAYING HENS (POULTRY, FAT, PERFORMANCE, AMINO ACIDS)." Diss., The University of Arizona, 1985. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/188112.

Abstract:
Effects of tallow supplementation on dietary nutrient and minimal amino acid utilization in the laying hen were studied in two experiments. In the first experiment diets contained six levels of animal tallow ranging from 0 to 10%. Percent egg production and egg mass were not significantly affected by tallow. Body weight was significantly increased by 2% tallow was maximum at 6%. Addition of up to 6% fat improved feed conversion without adversely affecting other production characteristics. Metabolizable energy (ME) intake increased from 305.1 to 322.4 kcal/hen/d over the range of 0 to 6% tallow with no further improvement at higher tallow levels. Maximum net energetic efficiency was obtained with 2 and 4% tallow. Ability to digest tallow declined significantly with hen age. Higher tallow ME values were obtained from calorimetry data than from digestibility measurements due to beneficial effects of tallow on digestibilities of fat and protein in the basal diet. No improvement in starch retention was observed with tallow supplementation. In the second experiment, diets containing four levels of protein (15.0, 13.6, 15.0 + methionine and 17.0%) without and with 3% tallow were fed to hens housed in an open cage house or an insulated, evaporatively cooled house. Egg production and egg mass were significantly higher in the insulated house. This study indicates that reducing total protein below the National Research Council (NRC, 1984) recommended level significantly reduced egg production by birds housed in an open house. Supplemental methionine to provide .60% TSAA was required for maximum egg production. Egg production was significantly improved with the low protein diet when 3% tallow was added; however, egg production rate supported by this combination was significantly below that obtained with the 17% protein diet either with or without added tallow. For birds housed in the insulated, evaporatively cooled house the diet based on the NRC amino acid recommendations appeared to be optimal for performance, even with a lower protein level. No additional benefits were obtained in egg production with 3% tallow in any of the diets under these housing conditions.

Tipei, John Fleter. "The laying on of hands in the New Testament." Thesis, University of Sheffield, 2001. http://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/3506/.

Full text
Abstract:
This study investigates the procedural techniques, significance and the tangible effects of the laying on of hands in the New Testament. The introductory chapter reviews critically previous contributions to the subject of the laying on of hands in the New Testament and establishes the purpose and delimitations of this study and the methodology used. The next two chapters are devoted to a study of the background of the New Testament practice of the laying on of hands. The investigation is conducted in the Old Testament and contemporary Judaism (Chapter Two) and in the Graeco-Roman and Near-Eastern literature (Chapter Three). Chapters Four through Seven are exegetical, each discussing a particular use of the laying on of hands in the New Testament. Chapter Four examines the function of the gesture in healing. Special attention is given to the inner process of transfer of power through physical contact. A comparative study of Jesus' method of healing with similar practices of his contemporaries challenges the idea that the origin of the healing touch is Hellenistic. The custom of blessing with the laying on of hands, as practised by Jesus, is examined in Chapter Five in terms of origin, significance and the form of the gesture. The next chapter is devoted to the use of the laying on of hands for the reception of the Holy Spirit. In addition to the exegetical analysis of the relevant pericopes, an attempt is made to explain the circumstances which led to the birth of this distinctive Christian practice. Chapter Seven examines the use of the laying on of hands in ordination and commissioning. It discusses the significance of the gesture, argues for the Jewish origin of the Christian rite and opposes the view that in the post-Pauline period charismata are tied to an office and thus institutionalised. In the final section of the thesis, an attempt is made to gauge the possibility of any uniformity in the significance of the various New Testament uses of the laying on of hands.

Though currently bound by a purely horizontal logic and limited to fulfilling only the most basic provisions. the design of surface parking has significant latent potential. Taking from the rubber-stamped landscape strategies of municipal playgrounds found in urban America and the rubber-stamping strategies of big-box retail which are disseminated throughout the American suburban landscape, this thesis attempts to recover the surface parking lot by equating park and parking in a double-loaded program of 100 % PARK / 100% PARKING. With cues from the examination of play and game strategies, this thesis infuses the 'Lot' landscape with double meaning that attracts both the consuming and unassuming into a physical space of chance, strategy and play. As an adaptable cover with interwoven programs, the double-loaded the surface parking lot can then serve as a new landscape typology which responds to contextual situations and in turn sponsors new patterns of occupation.

Brooklyn's urban fabric is a redundant array of perimeter residential blocks, built out over the last 200 years as a layered accretion. Within each block is a core that is spatially unified yet distinct from the public front of the street. These spaces are defined by their enclosure yet this barrier is not entirely impenetrable. Each block possesses a few unique moments of slippage in which the perimeter mass opens up to reveal a slivered view into the depths, and potentials, of this internalized world. To the vast majority, including residents, these slivers and cores remain a visual phenomenon. The near-universal practice of extruding backyard parcel lines has created an architecture of division, namely the fence, closing off the yard from the block and the block from the neighborhood. This thesis proposes an alternative scenario, in which rear fences are removed and a thin line of public space is inserted into the mosaic of existing yards. The line, activated through a set of calibrated relationships with the ground and floating infrastructure, stitches together people within the open core and works against the detritus of old divisions. Through this intervention, a new grain emerges which connects Brooklyn's blocks and transforms the residual slivers into a network of spaces that open to an engaging, and unexpected, rendering of the pre-existing.

Abstract:
Playing outside is of vital importance to children's mental and physical health; play is a biological necessity that teaches children the skills they will need in order to survive as adults. Yet the colorful and ubiquitous playground structures found in most parks often fall short of their full potential. These plastic playgrounds, which should serve as catalysts for creative thought and action in children, are limited in their sameness. Furthermore, the playground structures, which are manufactured in bulk and then bolted onto the ground at their final destinations, have little connection to their sites. I propose to investigate the characteristics of playgrounds in Washington, DC, and to use this investigation as a catalyst in the creation of a different type of grounds for play. I will create a playable ground which utilizes the specific qualities of site to engage children to move their bodies and their minds in imaginative ways.

Abstract:
In humanity’s current condition, the advantages of organic material sources are supplanted by the qualities of synthetics that allow for rapid growth and altered capabilities, whilst man becomes further removed from his natural existence as a being that once possessed the aptitude to understand and work with these materials. Prior to our industrial, mechanised and materialist consumer culture, the direct interaction with the natural world provided humanity with more comprehensive and experiential ground for growth and learning. As we are connected to the world through our senses, space becomes the primary enabler of such a platform. Relying on the haptic qualities of materials and the body’s ability to experience and embody its immediate surroundings, architecture’s role in the integration between man, nature, and industry is explored. As a natural industry with a significant public interface, architecture acts as a mediator between man’s “constructed nature” and his “first nature” – referring to man’s estrangement from his environment. This dissertation investigates the adaptation of industrial buildings to accommodate public interaction whilst responding to the environmental impact that the production of building materials has on the environment. Alternatives to commonly used materials such as glass, steel and carbon fibres were researched, and so hemp, flax and bamboo became the primary elements used in the making of the architecture.

Park, Shinyoung. "Effects of zinc on Salmonella in the layer house environments and laying hens, and the ability of zinc to induce molt in laying hens." Texas A&M University, 2003. http://hdl.handle.net/1969.1/1598.

Full text
Abstract:
There is increasing interest in developing methods to detect and identify Salmonella, to eliminate or reduce the risk of contamination of shell eggs, and to retain the economic advantages of induced molting without increasing the risk of Salmonella enteritidis infection. S. enteritidis and S. typhimurium are the most common serotypes among 2449 known serotypes of the Salmonella, and are the causes of most egg- related foodborne salmonellosis in humans in the U. S. These two species are also responsible for environmental contamination and the incidence of infections. Therefore, this study was conducted in three phases consisting of ten in vivo and in vitro experiments. This study investigated the effects of zinc on Salmonella growth and survivability in poultry environments, and its ability to induce a molt in single comb white leghorn hens. In part, the antibacterial properties of zinc may reduce environmental contamination in a poultry house by interrupting airborne routes. The first phase involved detecting airborne bacteria by aerosol sampling methods, and then screening any Salmonella mutant (s) that survived desiccation by transposon footprinting. The second phase examined, in vitro, the addition of zinc on the growth kinetics of Salmonella under aerobic or anaerobic conditions, the effects of combinating zinc and acidic conditions on the growth kinetics of Salmonella in vitro under aerobic or anaerobic conditions, and the effects of zinc amended feed on the survival of a dry inoculum of Salmonella. The third phase investigated the ability of zinc propionate, as an alternative salt form of zinc, to induce molt in laying hens, the influence of zinc acetate and zinc propionate on gastrointestinal tract fermentation, and susceptibility of laying hens to S. enteritidis during an induced molt, and the comparison of digestive microbial crop and cecal communities among molted hens fed by either zinc acetate or zinc propionate amended molting diets with hens undergoing feed withdrawal or full fed nonmolted hens using molecular-based denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis.

Hong, Wei. "Simulation of TDP Dynamics during S-laying of Subsea Pipelines." Thesis, Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet, Institutt for marin teknikk, 2010. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:no:ntnu:diva-11522.

Abstract:
During the past one and a half decade, pipeline has been proven to the most economical means of large scale overland transportation for crude oil, natural gas and other products. At the same time, more and more problems are encountered. A lot of effort has been put to gain more knowledge about pipeline installation, operation and so on. During installation of subsea pipeline, the penetration of the pipe prior to operation has a tendency of being larger than the predicted values. This may have a great influence on the intervention work and cost impact. It is therefore of interest to investigate whether this behavior can be explained by the dynamics at the touch down point (TDP) induced by 1st order motions from waves. This thesis work therefore focus on dynamic simulation of pipelines using the computer code SIMLA and put special emphasis on investigating the work done by the pipe onto the soil at TDP as the installation process goes on. For this purpose, a dynamic analysis model for a 32 inch pipeline at 200-300 m water depth is established with SIMLA input code. Both static and dynamic analyses are performed. A comparable very long time analysis time is applied in order to get stable results. The influence of various parameters viz. wave height, wave period and wave direction are investigated in this thesis. The TDP dynamics as a function of sea state is investigated with concentration on the dynamic pipe-soil interaction force and displacement as a function of time.
