Mokslo filosofijoje maždaug nuo XX amžiaus 60 – tųjų metų, mokslo plėtros problema yra tapusi viena iš dominuojančių problemų ir argumentų šaltiniu. Brandžiausią mokslo plėtros analizę yra pateikęs Larry Laudanas. Laudanas apibendrina induktyvistų, deduktyvistų ir istorinės mokslo filosofijos krypties teoretikų mokslo plėtros modelius. Laudano mokslo plėtros teorija turi trūkumų, svarbiausias iš jų – neapibrėžta mokslo samprata. Probleminis šio darbo laukas yra mokslo filosofijos normatyvinės ir nenormatyvinės krypties ginčai. Laudanas siekia pateikti adekvačiausią mokslo racionalistų ir mokslo iracionalistų ginčų, mokslo plėtros įvertinimo, sprendimo versiją. Darbe ginama tezė: Larry Laudano pasiūlymas mokslo plėtrą vertinti remiantis faktiniu, metodologiniu ir aksiologiniu teorijų prasminių lygmenų skyrimu yra pranašesnis už kitų mokslo metodologų pasiūlymus, tačiau šis mokslo plėtros vertinimo modelis yra nepakankamai pagrįstas ir nepakankamai apibrėžtas. Pagrindiniai šio darbo šaltiniai yra L. Laudano „Science and Values“ (Laudan 1984) ir „Progress and Its Problems“ (Laudan 1997), taip pat T. S. Kuhno „Mokslo revoliucijų struktūra“ (Kuhn 2003). Darbe remiamasi Laudano mokslo aiškinimo ir tinklinės teorijos sampratos poziciją kritikuojančiais šaltiniais (Folse 1990, Fuller 1986, Lugg 1986, Quinn 1986, Stanford 2000, Worrall 1989). Since the 1960s the problem of justification of scientific development has been an important problem in the philosophy of science. Larry Laudan provides a mature analysis of scientific development. Laudan generalises the models of scientific advancement provided by inductivists, deductivists and the historical school of philosophy of science. Unfortunately, Laudan's theory of scientific development has important shortcomings, the most important of which is that concept of science is not defined. The problem field of this work is the controversy of normative and non-normative positions in the philosophy of science. Laudan aims to provide an adequate solution that accounts for the differences of evaluations of scientific advancement in the theories of scientific rationalists and scientific irrationalists. The following thesis is defended: Larry Laudan's suggestion to separate the factual, methodological and axiological layers of scientific theories when evaluating scientific advancement is superior to other suggestions, but this model of evaluation of scientific advancement is not well-founded and inadequately defined. Primary sources of this work are „Science and Values“ (Laudan 1984), „Progress and Its Problems“ (Laudan 1997) and „The Structure of Scientific Revolutions“ (Kuhn 2003). This research aims to clarify the method of biblical counseling by Larry Crabb from the point of view of psychology and the Bible to bring a careful integration. Achieving an approach solidly based on Bible Scriptures, using the tools of secular psychology without betraying the "Biblical premise". Which encourages belief in the inerrant Bible and the grace of Christ almighty, believing that there is a personal and infinite God that revealed themself purposely in the written word, the Bible, and personally in the living word, Jesus Christ. In Crabb's approach the "mistaken belief , produce negative feelings and behaviors that prevent us to provide the need of a relationship with the Sacred. The purpose of the theory is focused on correcting negative thoughts and to promote the appropriate thought to produce correct behaviors and feelings. The focus is on the thoughts. The feelings of resentment, guilt and anxiety are the focal point of the disorder produced. Therefore, the task of a biblical counselor is directed to comprehend and unveil people's basic personal needs defined as meaning. Moreover let them perceive that this meaning is only attained through the recognition of their own value and importance in Christ, which Crabb defines as security. His theory is advised to leaders because it involves a transformative approach, highlighting the faith in God and the appreciation of the Bible as the Word of God.
Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo explicitar o modelo de aconselhamento bíblico de Larry Crabb, a partir do olhar da psicologia e da Bíblia para trazer uma integração cuidadosa. De maneira que se alcance uma abordagem solidamente baseada nas Escrituras, fazendo uso das ferramentas da psicologia secular sem trair a premissa bíblica . A qual estimula a crença na Bíblia inerrante e na graça do Cristo todo poderoso, acreditando em um Deus pessoal e infinito que se revelou propositalmente na palavra escrita, a Bíblia, e pessoalmente na palavra viva, Jesus Cristo. Na abordagem de Crabb a crença errada produz sentimentos e comportamentos negativos que impede o indivíduo de suprir sua necessidade de se relacionar com o Sagrado. O propósito do modelo é centrado em corrigir os pensamentos negativos e promover o pensamento adequado para produzir comportamentos corretos e sentimentos corretos. O enfoque está nos pensamentos. Os sentimentos de ansiedade, de culpa e ressentimento é o resultado central da desordem causada. Portanto a tarefa do aconselhador bíblico é voltada a compreender e desvelar as necessidades pessoais básicas das pessoas, definidas como significado. E fazê-lo compreender que esse significado só é alcançado através do reconhecimento de seu valor e sua importância em Cristo, o que Crabb nomeia de segurança. Sua proposta é aconselhada a líderes, pois envolve uma abordagem transformadora, destacando a fé em Deus e a valorização da Bíblia como Palavra de Deus.

Abstract:
Introdução: Obras ficcionais podem embasar análises de questões sociais, sobretudo quando essas são expostas mobilizando debates. Objetivo: Analisar o uso de filmes como estratégia pedagógica para mobilizar imaginários e compreender as relações entre a saúde e a sociedade. Métodos: Ensaio a partir do filme “The Normal Heart”, drama estadunidense dirigido por Ryan Murphy a partir de roteiro do dramaturgo Larry Kramer, com pesquisa em documentos contemporâneos sobre cuidado em saúde e preconceito. Resultados: O filme é contemporâneo, de 2014, retratando a crise social e sanitária da aids nos Estados Unidos no início da década de 1980. O enredo aponta o desconhecimento das pessoas sobre a realidade da época e evidencia a negligência governamental em políticas preventivas e de cuidado, motivada pelo preconceito com homens homossexuais, primeiro grupo com visibilidade de adoecimento e mortalidade. Passadas quatro décadas de evolução, mesmo com políticas para o cuidado à saúde das pessoas vivendo com vírus da imunodeficiência humana, a doença é muito relevante no Brasil, conforme os boletins epidemiológicos oficiais. No Brasil, cerca de 920 mil pessoas vivem com vírus da imunodeficiência humana, mas somente 89% têm diagnóstico confirmado (40% deles com diagnóstico tardio); 77% fazem tratamento antirretroviral no Sistema Único de Saúde, e quase totalidade desses já tem carga viral indetectável. Os números são relevantes e falam de histórias de tristeza, estigma social, preconceito e negligência. Políticas de cuidado embasadas na integralidade precisam prover ações de atenção às pessoas e romper os estigmas sociais associados às doenças, construindo novos imaginários sociais. Conclusão: A ficção ajuda a desvelar o preconceito social e a reflexão sobre as relações entre saúde e sociedade. Compreender as vulnerabilidades às quais pessoas e grupos estão sujeitos permite repensar valores, práticas e desenvolver capacidades profissionais sem sorofobia, homofobia e preconceito, mostrados no filme de forma contundente.

Abstract:
The subject of the presentation is Green Power Marketing for Waste To Energy Facilities. Many WTE projects signed long term energy contracts under the rules of PURPA. Several projects signed short term agreements. In other cases, power contacts were sold or assigned by the original purchaser or the project voluntarily agreed to a buy out. In any case, power markets have changed and are continuing to change. One of the most significant changes is the deregulation of the electricity market. WTE projects are no longer required to sell power to a captive utility. While electricity continues to flow through the same transmission lines, those lines may be owned by a different entity than the power purchaser, and will certainly end up as a transaction cleared by the regional power grid. In addition to “energy” and “capacity”, power can be sold as “green” or “renewable” for additional revenues. WTE power can be sold to wholesale purchasers for resale. Some WTE owners are becoming licensed to sell retail power, or arranging to wheel power to the local government which owns the WTE facility. WTE owners and operators depend on energy revenues to offset capital and operating costs. It is critical to understand how power marketing works. Most importantly, it is incumbent on each WTE owner/operator to make sure that Renewable Portfolio Standards established on the State and Federal level include WTE as a defined and eligible source of power. In the absence of Federal legislation, each State may set its own rules and requirements. Furthermore, States can set a renewable energy requirement for its purchases of energy. The panelists will present clear examples of the above from three points of view: Mr. Larry Plitch is an attorney who spent many years with Wheelabrator, and now markets power for Wheelabrator and other WTE owners. Ms. Robin Davidov is the Executive Director of the Northeast Maryland Waste Disposal Authority in Baltimore, Maryland. The Authority developed and financed three WTE facilities in Maryland, and owns two of the facilities. Ms. Davidov has been managing power sales for ten years, and most recently negotiated an electricity sales agreement with Mirant Americas Energy Marketing, L.P. Mr. Chris Pollatos is a Director with Mirant, and will speak about his experience in purchasing power from WTE and other renewable sources as well as wholesale power sales, including the sale of Renewable Energy Credits.

Abstract:
This report presents a case study for constructing aggregate subgrade improvement (ASI) layers using quarry by-product aggregates (QBA), a quarry mix of large primary crushed rocks (PCR) and sand-sized quarry fines. The construction took place at Larry Power Road in Bourbonnais Township in Kankakee County, Illinois, where the Illinois Department of Transportation placed two QBA mixes. The first mix (QBA_M1) consisted of 45% quarry by-products and 55% railroad ballast–sized 3×1 PCR. The second mix (QBA_M2) consisted of 31% and 69% quarry by-products and PCR, respectively. Two conventional ASI sections were also constructed conforming to Illinois Department of Transportation’s CS02 gradation. All sections consisted of a 9 in. (229 mm) QBA/PCR layer topped with a 3 in. (76 mm) dense-graded capping layer. Laboratory studies preceded the construction to recommend optimum quarry by-product content in the QBA materials and construction practice. The Illinois Center for Transportation research team monitored the quality and uniformity of the construction using nondestructive testing techniques such as dynamic cone penetrometer, lightweight deflectometer, and falling weight deflectometer. The segregation potential was monitored by visual inspection and imaging-based techniques. Short-term field evaluation of the constructed QBA layers, particularly QBA_M2 with a 31% quarry by-product content, showed no evidence of abnormal segregation and did not jeopardize the structural integrity of the QBA ASI layers, which had slightly lower but comparable strength and stiffness profiles to the conventional ASI sections. The use of QBA materials in ASI was field validated as a sustainable construction practice to provide stable pavement foundation layers.
