Phase aberration is a phenomenon caused by heterogeneity of the speed of sound in tissue, in which the actual speed of sound of the tissue is different than the assumed speed of sound used for beamforming. It reduces the quality and resolution of ultrasonic images and impairs clinical diagnostic capabilities. Although phase aberration correction (PAC) methods can reduce these detrimental effects, most practical implementations of PAC methods are based on the near field phase screen model, which have limited ability to represent the true aberration induced by inhomogeneous tissue. Accordingly, we propose a locally adaptive phase aberration correction (LAPAC) method that is applied through the use of synthetic aperture. The method is tested using full-wave simulations of models of human abdominal wall, experiments with tissue aberrators, and in vivo carotid images. LAPAC is compared with conventional phase aberration correction (cPAC) where aberration profiles are computed at a preselected depth and applied to the beamformer’s time delays. For all experiments, LAPAC shows an average of 1 to 2 dB higher contrast than cPAC, and enhancements of 3 to 7 dB with respect to the uncorrected cases. We conclude that LAPAC may be a viable option to enhance ultrasound image quality images even in the presence of clinically relevant aberrating conditions.

Introduction. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) imaging is commonly used to assess pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAC). However, the value of semiquantitative and quantitative assessments of CECT parameters used to predict survival in PAC remains unknown. This study aims to investigate the prognostic role of pretreatment CECT imaging in patients with locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma (LAPAC). Materials and Methods. From June 2013 to May 2017, eighty-six newly diagnosed patients with pathologically and radiologically confirmed LAPAC were retrospectively recruited. All patients were evaluated by CECT and experienced gemcitabine-based chemotherapy. The relationship between overall survival (OS) and clinical factors including age, sex, serum carbohydrate antigen 19-9 value, and CECT findings (including tumour location, tumour volume, peripancreatic involvement, blood vessel involvement, tumour enhanced rate, and distance liver metastasis) was determined using Cox proportional hazard regression models, and a nomogram was constructed for the prediction of 1- and 1.5-year survival rates of patients with LAPAC. Results. On univariate analysis, patients who had a tumour enhanced rate (TER) less than 80.465% and those who had a TER ≥ 80.465% are with a 3.587-fold increase in OS (p<0.001). After multivariate Cox regression, a nomogram was established based on a new model containing the predictive variables of high Ca19-9 level, higher clinical stages, larger tumour volume, the presence of peripancreatic involvement, and liver metastases. The model displayed good accuracy in predicting OS with a C-index of 0.614. The calibration plots also showed a good discrimination and calibration of the nomogram between the predicted and observed survival probabilities. Conclusion. Our results showed that TER can be used to predict survival in LAPAC, and we developed a nomogram for determining the prognosis of patients with LAPAC. However, the purposed nomogram still requires external data verification in future applications.

Background. We investigated the prognostic usefulness of prechemoradiotherapy (CRT) albumin-to-alkaline phosphatase ratio (AAPR) in unresectable locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma (LAPAC) patients managed with definitive concurrent CRT (CCRT). Methods. A sum of 136 LAPAC patients who consecutively underwent definitive CCRT was retrospectively analyzed. The AAPR (serum albumin (g/dL)/serum alkaline phosphatase (IU/L)) was calculated by using the parameters obtained from the routine biochemistry tests on the first day of the CCRT. Ideal AAPR cutoff was sought by utilizing receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. The primary and secondary endpoints were the impact of the AAPR on the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) results, respectively. Results. At a median follow-up of 14.8 months (range: 3.2-85.7), the median PFS and OS times were 7.5 (95% confidence interval (CI): 6.0-9.0) and 14.9 months (95% CI: 11.9-17.9), respectively. The ideal common AAPR cutoff was identified at the rounded 0.46 (area under the curve: 72.3%; sensitivity: 71.2%; specificity: 70.3%) point that dichotomized the patients into two groups: low AAPR (L-AAPR; N = 71 ) and high AAPR (H-AAPR; N = 65 ) groups, respectively. Comparative survival analyses showed that the L-AAPR cohort had significantly shorter median PFS (6.8 (95% CI: 5.7-7.9) versus 11.3 (95% CI: 9.9-12.7) months; P = 0.005 ) and OS (12.8 (95% CI: 10.6-15.0) versus 19.2 (95% CI: 16.9-21.5) months; P = 0.001 ) durations than their H-AAPR counterparts, separately. Albeit the N1-2 ( P = 0.004 ) and CA 19 ‐ 9 > 90 U / mL ( P = 0.008 ) were also found to be associated with inferior outcomes, yet the results of the multivariate analyses ascertained the L-AAPR as an independent indicator of diminished PFS ( P = 0.003 ) and OS ( P = 0.002 ) results. Conclusion. The present results proposed that the pretreatment AAPR < 0.46 was a novel independent indicator of adverse PFS and OS in unresectable LAPAC patients undergoing definitive CCRT.

On December 18, 2013, a group of researchers from LAPAC, the Laboratory of Automation and Prototyping for Architecture and Construction, at the University of Campinas, had a video-conference with Prof. Branko Kolarevic, from Calgary University. Although the main objective of the talk was to discuss the question of digital fabrication and its impacts in the making of buildings, each researcher had the opportunity to ask something about their own topic of research, which are all related to computational design: parametric modeling, the use of programming in the creative process, responsive architecture and evolutionary computation. Among these researchers were students with different backgrounds – architecture, civil engineering, mechatronics and computer science – and at different levels, from undergrads to PhD candidates.

We previously showed that lipopolysaccharide (LPS) assembly requires the essential LapB protein to regulate FtsH-mediated proteolysis of LpxC protein that catalyzes the first committed step in the LPS synthesis. To further understand the essential function of LapB and its role in LpxC turnover, multicopy suppressors of ΔlapB revealed that overproduction of HslV protease subunit prevents its lethality by proteolytic degradation of LpxC, providing the first alternative pathway of LpxC degradation. Isolation and characterization of an extragenic suppressor mutation that prevents lethality of ΔlapB by restoration of normal LPS synthesis identified a frame-shift mutation after 377 aa in the essential gene designated lapC, suggesting LapB and LapC act antagonistically. The same lapC gene was identified during selection for mutations that induce transcription from LPS defects-responsive rpoEP3 promoter, confer sensitivity to LpxC inhibitor CHIR090 and a temperature-sensitive phenotype. Suppressors of lapC mutants that restored growth at elevated temperatures mapped to lapA/lapB, lpxC and ftsH genes. Such suppressor mutations restored normal levels of LPS and prevented proteolysis of LpxC in lapC mutants. Interestingly, a lapC deletion could be constructed in strains either overproducing LpxC or in the absence of LapB, revealing that FtsH, LapB and LapC together regulate LPS synthesis by controlling LpxC amounts.

Ganoderma lucidum, used in a traditional Chinese medicine, represents one of the most important medicinal mushrooms in the world, whose fruiting bodies and spores have been traditionally used because of a wide spectrum of biological activities such as antidiabetic, antioxidative, antiproliferative, cardioprotective, etc. Its ethnomedicinal importance in some parts of the Balkan region (Serbia and Croatia) is almost totally unknown and there should be more scientific investigations carried out. The aim of this work was to make a comparative study of antioxidative activities and total phenolic content of ethanol and hot water extracts of G. lucidum, collected from forests in Serbia (Morovicke sume, Fruska Gora) and Croatia (Donji Lapac, Pljesevica). The present study was carried out to evaluate antioxidant potential of examined extracts via scavenging potential on ABTS, DPPH, OH? and NO? radicals, as well as of chelating effects via FRAP assay, together with determination of their total phenolic content. Results showed that both GLS extracts possessed better antiradical activities (IC50=0.23?0.01 for H2O and 2.75?0.01 ?g/mL for EtOH for OH? and DPPH assay, respectively) than in the ABTS assay (151.40?1.07 mg TE/g d.w. for EtOH), while the phenolic content was generally equal in extracts of Serbian and Croatian samples (60.74?0.57 mg GAE/g d.w. for EtOH and 77.10?0.27 mg GAE/g d.w. for H2O, respectively). Therefore, these extracts could be considered as a good source of natural antioxidants. These results showed that examined G. lucidum extracts (especially ?2?) contain high amount of phenolic content which could significantly enhance the antiradical potential and reduce potential on iron ions. This is the first study reporting the comparison of antioxidant activities and phenolic contents of two different extracts between two G. lucidum strains from two different geographical origins from the Balkan region.

Se estudió el estado y conservación de la lapa roja (Ara macao) en el Área de Conservación de Osa (ACOSA) entre octubre y diciembre del 2005. El proyecto se llevó a cabo realizando una entrevista estructurada, con 22 preguntas, a 105 adultos locales y desarrollando un taller con 18 participantes de la región, que resultó en un plan estratégico. Entre los resultados mas sobresalientes, se encontró que: a) la población de lapa roja se extiende en toda la Península de Osa y hacia el norte hasta Playa Piñuelas; b) no fue posible estimar el número de individuos en la población, pero puede existir entre 800-1200 individuos y los habitantes locales consideran que esta aumentando; c) las lapas no se concentran en sitios para pernoctar; d) se alimentan de al menos 59 especies de plantas (semilla y fruta) de las cuales tres especies exóticas se consideran importantes: el almendro de playa (Terminalia catappa), la teca (Tectona grandis) y la melina (Gmelina arborea); e) anidan entre diciembre y mayo en huecos de árboles de unas 28 especies, siendo la ceiba (Ceiba pentandra) y el ajo (Caryocar costarricense) las más utilizadas; f ) existe extracción de pichones (aprox. 25-50 por año) por parte de laperos, siendo una persona la principal responsable de dicha extracción ya que colecta al menos 25 pichones anualmente; g) existen tres programas de liberación de lapas rojas, los cuales se encuentran ubicados en el área de Golfito y Pavones y h) el plan estratégico formulado contempla proyectos de investigación, monitoreo, conservación, extensión y mercadeo de la especie; lo anterior incluye estudios sobre dinámica poblacional, hábitat, ecología de reproducción, genética, extracción de pichones y programas de conservación.

TPS477 Background: In pts with LAPC, more effective systemic therapies may be associated with improved local control, delay of metastasis, and overall survival (OS). The phase III MPACT trial in pts with metastatic PC demonstrated longer OS (median, 8.7 vs 6.6 mos; HR, 0.72; P < 0.001) and an ≈ 3-fold greater shrinkage of primary tumors with nab-P + Gem vs Gem alone (−22.15% vs −7.02%), raising the possibility of improved local PC control with nab-P + Gem. LAPACT will assess the efficacy and safety of nab-P + Gem in LAPC. Methods: LAPACT will enroll treatment-naive pts (planned n ≈ 110) in the United States, Canada, and Europe with Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status ≤ 1, confirmed unresectable LAPC, no distant metastases, and adequate organ function. Pts with mixed-origin tumors, any other malignancy within 5 years, peripheral neuropathy grade > 1, or clinically significant ascites are ineligible. Pts will receive nab-P 125 mg/m2 + Gem 1000 mg/m2 on days 1, 8, and 15 of each 28-day cycle. Pts without progressive disease (PD) or unacceptable toxicity after 6 cycles will receive investigator’s choice of surgery, chemoradiotherapy, or continued nab-P + Gem. If a major response is observed, surgery may occur prior to completing 6 cycles of nab-P + Gem. The primary endpoint is time to treatment failure (TTF; time from first therapy dose to discontinuation due to PD, start of a new non–protocol-defined anti-cancer therapy, or death). The study design allows for 80% power at a 1-sided α of 0.05 to detect a 30% increase over the 5.1-month median TTF observed for nab-P + Gem in the MPACT study. The secondary endpoints are disease control rate (DCR) after 6 cycles, overall response rate, progression-free survival, OS, safety, and quality of life. The exploratory endpoint is correlation of changes in circulating nucleic acids with PD and treatment response. An interim DCR analysis will occur after all pts have completed 6 cycles of nab-P + Gem, discontinued therapy due to PD, died, or started a new non–protocol-defined therapy before completing 6 cycles of therapy. El estudio analiza la evolución de un esfuerzo comunitario para conservar la población de la lapa roja (Ara macao) del Pacifico Central de Costa Rica. Entre 1990-1994, investigación fue llevado a cabo para demostrar que la población estaba bajando, primordialmente debido a la explotación de los pichones. El Club Punta Leona, el Pueblo de Quebrada Ganado y la Universidad Nacional (Costa Rica) iniciaron un esfuerzo de conservación de la especie. Dos talleres regional fueron llevado a cabo en los años 1994 y 1999 para evaluar y detallar una estrategia de protección. Los dos talleres recomendaron: (a) llevar a cabo una programa de educación ambiental a nível local, (b) proteger los pichones en sus nidos, (c) aumentar las fuentes de alimentación y los sítios de anidar de las lapas, investigar y monitorear la población de lapa rojo constantemente y (d) promover el proyecto y proveer regresos económicos a los locales. Una organización local, LAPPA, se creo que para encargarse de llevar a cabo la estrategia. Revisando sus éxitos, la junta directiva de LAPPA considera que ellos han sido efectivos con respeto a puntos a, b y d. La planificación estratégica llevado a cabo fue esencial para el trabajo de conservación. La metodología utilizado en el segundo taller ayudo a esquematizar el plan de trabajo para la lapa roja más claramente que el primer taller. Finalmente, los fondos canalizados a través de LAPPA para el trabajo de la conservación de la especie en forma exitosa. Traditional models of public participation in planning have been criticized as 'top-down'
segregating planners from ordinary citizens; thus, there has been a quest for greater public
involvement in planning decisions and policy-making. The public demands a greater
voice in planning and development affairs. To provide public input into the planning
process, planning agencies often establish Citizen Advisory Committees (CAC) to
involve the public in planning decisions. The increasing redevelopment pressure in inner
city suburbs in most Australian cities has led to the creation of many advisory groups for
advising planning agencies and Ministers for Planning on planning and development
matters. These advisory committees usually consist of people of diverse backgrounds
elected, selected and/or appointed by the planning agency to provide community input
into planning policy making.
However, little is known about the context and operational process in the consultation
processes of advisory committees. Much of the existing literature on public participation
lacks widely applicable evaluation approaches for determining whether the existing
context and process is fair and effective in the participation process. As complex social
phenomena, public participation processes are influenced by contextual factors. This
thesis examines the Terms of Reference and the operational process of planning advisory
committees, and evaluates them through two proposed meta-criteria: fairness and
effectiveness. LAPACs in Canberra have been selected for the evaluation of the
participation process, providing a basis to develop a conceptual model for its
improvement. The analysis is based on a theoretical framework, which focuses on the
criteria of fairness and effectiveness in the public participation process.
This study uses a qualitative approach to data analysis using multi-method techniques
such as focus interviews, document analysis and participant observation. The interviews
were conducted with LAPAC members and other planning community who were directly
or indirectly involved in the ACT's consultation process, and aware of its planning
decisions. They are development proponents, the enthusiastic wider public, planning staff,
the Minister for Planning, and planning spokespersons of political parties.
The data provide insight into the details of the proposed criteria to evaluate the fairness
and effectiveness of a participation process. The results suggest that improving the
participation process in a planning advisory committee requires changes in committee
protocols, operational processes and planner roles in conducting the participation
processes. Specifically, there needs to be a move away from static processes toward more
strategic, active and accountable processes. This thesis suggests some practical steps, in
order to ensure greater fairness and effectiveness in the participation process of a
planning advisory committee, and recommends the proposed evaluative criteria as a new
framework for evaluating planning advisory committees.

Previous issue date: 2015<br>O Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra se propõem a romper as cercas da exclusão social, política e econômica da classe trabalhadora. São milhares de famílias que moram, trabalham, vivem nos projetos de assentamentos no país. O MST traz a agroecologia como prática social que se pretende contraposta ao capitalismo. A agroecologia não muda as relações sociais mas, permite ampliação da esfera da autonomia relativa e contribui na consolidação do campesinato contemporâneo. Procuramos compreender as práticas agroecológicas das famílias do Assentamento Contestado, Lapa-PR. E se essas práticas contribuem na condução para ou no fortalecimento de uma autonomia relativa frente às dependências mercadológicas tecnológicas e financeiras do atual estágio de desenvolvimento capitalista. Não se trata de substituição de insumos, ou simplesmente fazer uso da maquinaria e tecnologia cujos objetivos tratam da padronização de monocultivos. Sementes geneticamente modificadas, agrotóxicos, adubos químicos industriais, pesadas máquinas, dependência financeira e mercadológica têm origem no próprio desenvolvimento capitalista na agricultura, a serviço das transnacionais e do sistema financeiro. Embora o avanço do agronegócio esbarre no que possa parecer fragmentos de um modo de produção já dissolvido. Camponeses contemporâneos são um desenvolvimento histórico completamente novo de uma categoria social, embora há aqueles que os compreendam como réplica de uma forma antiga medieval, com a qual sustenta certa semelhança. A convicção agroecológica das famílias, de que a mudança é possível, empregando técnicas, organizando institucionalmente mecanismos de participação, convertendo áreas e avançando na produção e na troca de experiências, alcançando níveis de produtividade compatíveis com o atual desenvolvimento das forças produtivas, pode ser uma das formas de arrancar pela raiz os fundamentos sobre os quais se assenta a matriz convencional de produção na agricultura.<br><br>Resumen : Movimiento de los Trabajadores Sin Tierra tiene la intención de romper las vallas de la exclusión social, la clase obrera económica y política. Hay miles de familias que viven, trabajan, viven en los proyectos de asentamientos en el país. El MST trae la agroecología como una práctica social que se opone al capitalismo. Agroecología no cambia las relaciones sociales, sino que permite la expansión de la esfera de la autonomía relativa y contribuye a la consolidación del campesinado contemporáneo. Buscamos entender las prácticas agroecológicas de las familias del asentamiento Contestado, Lapa-PR. Y si estas prácticas contribuyen a la conducta o el fortalecimiento de una autonomía relativa frente a las dependencias de marketing tecnológicos y financieros de la etapa actual del desarrollo capitalista. No se trata de la sustitución de suministros, o simplemente hacer uso de maquinaria y tecnología cuyos objetivos frente a la estandarización de los monocultivos. Semillas genéticamente modificadas, pesticidas, fertilizantes industriales, maquinaria pesada, la dependencia financiera y tallo de la comercialización del desarrollo capitalista en la agricultura, el servicio de las empresas transnacionales y el sistema financiero. Aunque el avance de golpe la agroindustria en lo que puede parecer fragmentos de un modo de producción ya disuelto. Campesinos contemporáneos son un nuevo desarrollo histórico de una categoría social, aunque hay quienes entienden cómo la réplica de un antiguo camino medieval, con la que mantiene un cierto parecido. La convicción agroecológica de las familias, que el cambio es posible, el empleo de las técnicas, la organización de los mecanismos institucionales de participación mediante la conversión de las zonas y el avance en la producción y el intercambio de experiencias, alcanzando los niveles de productividad en consonancia con el actual desarrollo de las fuerzas productivas, puede ser un las formas de desarraigar los cimientos sobre los que se apoya la producción de matriz convencional en la agricultura.

forte atratividade para o lazer noturno na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. O objetivo
dessa dissertação de caráter interdisciplinar é analisar como tem sido feita a
retomada do bairro da Lapa, relacionando-a ao imaginário que se construiu sobre
o local. Tal recuperação tem sido fortemente apoiada no imaginário construído
pela boemia lapiana das décadas de 20 e 30. O imaginário será abordado de duas
formas distintas: aquele que se constrói no seio do grupo do boêmio, responsável
pela transformação da Lapa em mito, e o imaginário construído social e
politicamente, instaurado pelos donos do poder que objetivavam a destruição e
moralização da Lapa – tendo como foco de ataque a prostituição no bairro – mas
que em um influxo contrário contribuiu para a legitimação do espaço. Serão
utilizados como objetos de análise textos produzidos por quem viveu a boemia
pelas ruas do bairro, a exemplo: o livro de crônicas, Roteiro da Lapa... e outros
roteiros, de Alberto Deodato; Adeus Lapa, de Hernani do Irajá; Noturno da Lapa
e Lapa, de Luís Martins e Lábios que beijei, de Aguinaldo Silva.<br>During the last years, the neighborhood of Lapa has been changing and
becoming a very attractive area as an option for the nightlife in Rio de Janeiro.
This cross-curricular essay intends to analyze how the resumption found in Lapa
has been taking place, connecting it to the imaginarium built over the area. Such
recovery has been strongly supported on the imaginarium set by the bohemian
spirit of Lapa in the 20s and 30s. The imaginary will be approached in two
different ways: the one built in the bohemian circle s crib, responsible for
transforming Lapa into a myth, and the imaginarium built socially and politically,
introduced by the owners of the power, who wanted its destruction and
moralization – with the prostitution found in the neighborhood as the main
striking spot – but responsible for legitimizing the area through an opposite influx
movement. There will be used as analysis references texts wrote by people who
witnessed the bohemian process through the streets of Lapa, such as the book of
Chronicles Roteiro da Lapa… e outros roteiros, wrote by Alberto Deodato; Adeus

Resumo: As relações que se estabelecem no espaço e definem a organização deste, seja para vivência de autóctones ou para uso turístico traz a necessidade de avançar nas teorizações que envolvem a geografia e o turismo. Pois destas relações emergem sentidos, valores e representações que necessitam serem compreendidas. Esta tese partiu do objetivo de compreender a dinâmica existente entre o turismo, o espaço e os bens patrimoniais inseridos no espaço urbano da cidade da Lapa-PR, a partir das contradições que se revelam através das falas dos sujeitos que nesse espaço se relacionam. A este estudo de caráter exploratório e teórico somou-se uma investigação empírica numa abordagem qualitativa que se realizou sob os seguintes recursos metodológicos: pesquisa exploratória bibliográfica buscando os aspectos geográficos, históricos, culturais e turísticos mais relevantes do município da Lapa; levantamento quantificando e caracterizando os bens patrimoniais históricos tombados que se encontram no Setor Histórico do município da Lapa; realização de entrevistas, questionários e depoimentos buscando uma análise comparativa entre o pensamento de diferentes atores que nesse espaço se relacionam. Apresenta como resultados que o patrimônio histórico da Lapa estimula as políticas de conservação, mas também desperta olhar para o futuro em busca de harmonizar as construções históricas com novas práticas sociais que elevem a qualidade de vida dos moradores da cidade, os quais necessitam posicionar-se frente às ações públicas assumindo sua forma de pensar diante dos outros e diante dos fatos e das coisas. A identidade que é representada pelas práticas culturais é como uma produção que nunca cessa ou mesmo se completa. No entanto é sempre constituída pelas representações que os sujeitos dessa sociedade possuem e expressam. Nesse sentido, elegeram o Teatro São João e a Igreja Matriz como símbolo da cidade pela representação da historia e pelos sentimentos e emoções que despertam. Apresenta como conclusão a compreensão que o espaço urbano da Lapa ao contemplar o espaço turístico em sua dimensão social deverá buscar a promoção de desenvolvimento equilibrado onde a conservação dos bens patrimoniais deve ser enfatizada, reconhecendo a importância estratégica do turismo, seus impactos e limitações, buscando referenciais teóricos e metodológicos a partir do entrelaçamento das áreas geografia e turismo para melhor compreender o fenômeno turístico e sua relação com o espaço.

Resumo: Estuda o efeito dos sulfatos de cobre e de zinco no controle da população de fungos e bactérias que causam intemperismo em arenitos de prédios históricos em Lapa (PR). Os objetivos específicos propostos foram identificar nos monumentos zonas de intemperismo; caracterizar a rocha por métodos físicos; identificar por métodos microbiológicos e por fotomicrografias os fungos e as bactérias heterotúpicos na rocha que potencialmente podem contribuir com o intemperismo; levantar as características climáticas e edáficas da região, a partir de dados da literatura, para estabelecer relações entre o clima e o intemperismo dos monumentos. Este trabalho partindo das bases científicas destina-se a contribuir com os profissionais que atuam na área da preservação de patrimônios históricos. O experimento foi conduzido na parede lateral do Theatro São João e no muro da Casa da Cultura, ambos construídos em arenito nu. Catorze dias após a aplicação dos tratamentos à base sulfatos de cobre e de zinco em diferentes concentrações, procedeu-se à coleta de amostras as quais foram inoculadas em meio de Martin líquido. Sete dias após a incubação, procedeu-se à contagem dos microrganismos utilizando a técnica do número mais provável (NMP). Os microrganismos que nasceram foram repicados em placas contendo meio de Martin sólido. As colônias foram isoladas e repicadas em tubos inclinados contendo o meio de cultura Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA). Posteriormente foram enviadas ao Laboratório de Coleção de Culturas de Fungos do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (RJ) para identificação. Amostras coletadas na área em estudo foram preparadas para análise em microscopia eletrônica de varredura. Os resultados das determinações das populações de microrganismos indicaram que o tratamento intitulado sulfato de cobre 2,5% mais sulfato de zinco 2,5% foi o mais eficiente para controlar as populações de fungos, tanto nas paredes do Theatro São João como no muro da Casa da Cultura. O melhor resultado para o controle da população de bactérias no Theatro São João foi obtido com o tratamento sulfato de zinco 5%. O tratamento mais eficiente para controlar a densidade populacional das bactérias no muro da Casa da Cultura foi o sulfato de cobre 0,75% mais sulfato de zinco 2,5%. As cepas oriundas do Theatro São João foram identificadas como Aspergillus fumigatus e as isoladas do muro da Casa da Cultura foram identificadas com Alternaria alternata. Os resultados obtidos com as análises em microscopia eletrônica de varredura permitiram concluir que as superfícies das rochas que fazem parte da parede do Theatro São João e do muro da Casa da Cultura, estão colonizadas por bactérias e fungos e que estes microrganismos estão causando danos.

O sequenciamento do genoma do cinetoplastídeo Trypanosoma cruzi, o agente etiológico da doença de Chagas, revelou 28 genes que codificam aminopeptidases putativas, dentre as quais estão três metionina-aminopeptidases, duas aspártico-aminopeptidases, duas aminopeptidases sensíveis a puromicina e três leucil-aminopeptidases da família M17. Neste estudo, uma atividade leucil-aminopeptidolítica principal foi identificada em T. cruzi usando Leu-AMC como substrato. Ela foi isolada de formas epimastigotas do parasito por um procedimento cromatográfico de dois passos e associou-se com uma única proteína hexamérica de 320 kDa como determinado por experimentos de velocidade de sedimentação e de dispersão de luz. Ligações dissulfeto intercadeias não participam da organização oligomérica da peptidase ativa. Espectrometria de massa por Peptide mass fingerprint revelou a identidade molecular da enzima como a aminopeptidase EAN97960 predita de T. cruzi, o produto do gene Tc00.1047053508799.240. Análises enzimáticas e moleculares indicaram que esta leucil-aminopeptidase de T. cruzi (LAPTc) pertence à família M17 de peptidases ou família da leucil-aminopeptidase. LAPTc tem uma forte dependência de pH neutro, é mesofílica e conserva sua forma oligomérica até 80 °C. Ao contrário, sua forma recombinante produzida em E. coli, assim como outras LAPs, é termofílica e requer pH alcalino. A atividade desta metalo-aminopeptidase é inibida por bestatina e quelantes de metais tais como 1,10-fenantrolina, é restabelecida por Zn2+, e potencializada por Mn2+ ou Ca2+. A enzima é expressa por todas as formas do T. cruzi e localiza-se no interior de vesículas no citoplasma do parasito. Uma vez que vias de aminoácidos essenciais, incluindo leucina, estão desprovidas em T. cruzi, a LAPTc poderia ter uma função no suprimento nutricional. Além disso, a atividade da peptidase também poderia ter uma função no processamento de peptídeos e proteínas. Nós postulamos que a LAPTc poderia ser um alvo potencial para o desenvolvimento de novas drogas para tratar a infecção de T. cruzi.<br>Pathogens depend on peptidase activities to accomplish many physiological processes, as well as to interact with their hosts, highlighting parasitic peptidases as virulence factors and, thus, potential drug targets. The kinetoplastid Trypanosoma cruzi genome sequencing, the aetiological agent of Chagas disease, has revealed 28 genes encoding putative aminopeptidases, among which there are three methionine, two aspartic, two puramycin-sensitive and three leucyl aminopeptidases of the M17 family. In this study, a major leucyl aminopeptidolytic activity was identified in the T. cruzi by using leu-AMC as substrate. It was isolated from epimastigote forms of the parasite by a two-step chromatographic procedure and associated with a single 320-kDa homohexameric protein as determined by sedimentation velocity and light scattering experiments. Interchain disulfide bonds do not take part in the oligomeric assembly of the active peptidase. Peptide mass fingerprinting revealed the molecular identity of the enzyme as the predicted T. cruzi aminopeptidase EAN97960, the product of the Tc00.1047053508799.240 gene. Molecular and enzymatic analysis indicated that this leucyl aminopeptidase of T. cruzi (LAPTc) belongs to the peptidase family M17 or leucyl aminopeptidase family. LAPTc has a strong dependence on neutral pH, is mesophilic and retains its oligomeric form up to 80 °C. Conversely, its recombinant form produced in E. coli, like other LAPs, is thermophilic and requires alkaline pH. The activity of this metalloaminopeptidase is inhibited by bestatin and metal chelants such as 1,10-phenanthroline, is restored by Zn2+, and potentiated by Mn2+ or Ca2+. The enzyme is expressed by all T. cruzi forms and localizes within vesicles in the cytoplasm of the parasite. Since biosynthetic pathways for essential amino acids, including leucine, are lacking in T. cruzi, LAPTc could have a function in nutritional supply. Furthermore, the peptidase activity could also play a role in peptide and protein processing. We postulate that the LAPTc might be a potential target for the development of new drugs to treat T. cruzi infection.

Lapa, in Bom Jesus da Lapa, Bahia, Brazil, are experiences of religious encounter, occurred in
the context of this shrine lytic, understood as calling and response. The sanctuary of Bom
Jesus, situated on the right bank of the River São Francisco, in the Midwest of the State of
Bahia, founded more than 320 years by Francisco de Mendonça Mar, is considered today, one
of the largest sanctuaries in the northeast of Brazil, and one of the most important, among
more than 260 existing sanctuaries in Brazil. This sanctuary, as a place of pilgrimages
connected to the various phenomena of popular Catholicism, holder of values and internal
forces, demonstrates an extraordinary liveliness in a modern society in constant changes and
conflicts, and presents itself as a vast field of scientific research. For elaborating our thesis,
we left from definition of religion, presented by Gustav Mensching, who considers a
phenomena of religion, as an experiential encounter with the sacred, and the active response
of the human being, affected by the sacred. The main elements in this definition, that is, the
sacred, the religious experience, the called and the response, provided the lifting of various
issues and allowed structuring our thesis in four chapters: 1-The shrine of Bom Jesus da Lapa:
lytic locus of religious experiences; 2nd-The pilgrimages to Lapa do Bom Jesus as
experiences of the call; 3rd-The pilgrimages to Bom Jesus da Lapa as experiences of the
response; and, 4-The mystique of the pilgrimage forged in the experience of encounter. So,
after walking through all stages of scientific research, we have come to the conclusion, that
the pilgrimages to this Sanctuary can be considered as encounters based on spiritual and
personal experience with the Bom Jesus, and on the action whereby the pilgrim touching and
called by Bom Jesus, answers to him through an act of pilgrimage. These sacred journeys,
often repeated cyclically, and expressed in multiplicity of rites, sustain the spirituality of
pilgrims and impart deeper sense of their existence. These experiences practiced in the
context of this sacred place, marked in a special way by its rock formation, provide for the
pilgrims a personal and collective experience of intense and deep encounter with Jesus.
Peregrinations, withdraws them from the world for a while, transfigures, transcends and
transforms their lives, directing them to areas of everyday life, which is lived in waiting for a
new pilgrimage toward sacred home of Bom Jesus, who on the riverbank all can

da Lapa, BA, como experiências do encontro com o Bom Jesus, no contexto lítico deste lugar
de romagem, entendidas como chamado e resposta. O Santuário do Bom Jesus, situado na
margem direita do Rio São Francisco, no centro-oeste do Estado da Bahia, fundado há mais
de 320 anos por Francisco de Mendonça Mar, é considerado hoje um dos maiores do Nordeste
Brasileiro e um dos mais importantes, entre mais de 260 santuários existentes no Brasil.
Como lugar de peregrinações que está ligado ao complexo fenômeno do catolicismo popular,
portador de valores e forças internas, ele demonstra uma extraordinária vivacidade em uma
sociedade em constantes mudanças e conflitos, e se apresenta como um vasto campo de
investigações científicas. Na elaboração da tese partimos da definição menschinguiana da
religião, que considera o fenômeno religioso um encontro experiencial com o sagrado e a
resposta ativa do ser humano, afetado pelo sagrado. Os principais elementos presentes nesta
definição, isto é, o sagrado, a experiência religiosa, o chamado e a resposta, proporcionaram o
levantamento de diversas questões e permitiram estruturar a nossa tese em quatro capítulos,
sendo: 1º - O Santuário do Bom Jesus da Lapa: locus lítico de experiências religiosas; 2º - As
romarias à Lapa do Bom Jesus como experiências do chamado; 3º - As romarias do Bom
Jesus como experiências da resposta; e por fim, 4º - A mística da romaria forjada na
experiência do encontro. Assim, depois de percorrer todas as etapas da investigação científica,
chegamos à conclusão, de que as romarias ao Santuário do Bom Jesus da Lapa podem ser
consideradas como encontros baseados na experiência vivida com o Bom Jesus e na ação
mediante a qual, os romeiros de alguma maneira, sentindo-se tocados e chamados pelo Bom
Jesus, respondem a este chamado peregrinando e relacionando-se intensamente com ele
através de sinais visíveis e sensíveis, expressos na multiplicidade de ritos, alimentando assim,
sua mística e sua existência. Estas experiências vivenciadas no contexto desse lugar sagrado,
marcado de maneira especial pela sua formação rochosa, proporcionam aos romeiros uma

Defesa: Curitiba, 08/03/2002<br>Inclui bibliografia<br>Resumo: o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência das áreas de agricultura (AG) e mata ciliar (MC) sobre a temperatura (1) e a umidade gravimétrica (U) do solo superficial, e a relação entre esses parâmetros em ambas as áreas. A T.e a U do solo na camada superficial foram monitoradas em uma pequena bacia com MC e AG que correspondem a parte inferior e superior da mesma, respectivamente. A área de estudo se encontra entre as latitudes de 25°45'00" e 25°43'08"S e as longitudes de 49°34'04" e 49°35-'06"W, no distrito de Cardoso da cidade da Lapa, no segundo planalto paranaense. O período do monitoramento foi de 26/05/99 a 20/05/00, com medições de dois dias consecutivos em intervalos de aproximadamente 15 em 15 dias. F oram marcados aleatoriamente 37 pontos na MC, e 20 pontos de 10 em 10 metros linearmente na AG, com medição de T nos períodos da manhã (9:00h) e tarde (15:00h), e obtenção de U em laboratório, através de amostragens de solo, retiradas no período da manhã. Os coeficientes de variação (CV) e as médias dos valores obtidos foram calculados para análise espacial (ao longo do tempo) e temporal (em cada ponto de observação), para cada área e períodos do dia (manhã e tarde). As menores variações temporais de T foram observadas na Me. As variações espaciais de T não apresentaram diferença estatisticamente significativa entre AG e MC. Na AG foram encontradas as maiores médias de T. A MC apresentou maiores variações espaciais e médias de U, embora não foi observada diferença estatística significativa dos valores de CV temporal de U entre AG e MC. Tal fato induz a observação de que ao longo do tempo, a umidade varia semelhantemente entre as duas áreas, e que a partir de um desenvolvimento das plantas, o microclima criado pela agricultura passa a ser semelhante ao da mata ciliar. Palavras-chave: Temperatura do solo; Umidade do solo; Mata ciliar; Agricultura.<br>Abstract: The main objective of this work was to evaluate influences of agriculture area (AG) and riparian forest (MC) on the temperature (1) and the gravimetric water content (U) ofthe surface soil, and the relationship between these parameters in both areas. T and U ofthe surface soil were monitored in a small watershed with MC and AG that correspond its lower and upper part, respectively. The study area is located between the latitudes of25°45'00" and 25°43'08"S and the longitudes of 49°34'04" and 49<>:35'06"W, in the Cardoso district ofLapa municipal, on the second Paraná plateau. The monitoring period was May 26th'99 to May 20th'00, with measurement in approximatelyevery 15 days. In MC, 37 monitoring points were randomly established and in the AG 20 points which made a straight line were fixed with 10-meters interval. The measurement of T was carried in the moming (9:00h) and aftemoon (15 :OOh). The value of U was determined in laboratory, by using soil samples, only for the moming period. The coefficients ofvariation (CV) and the averages of the obtained data were calculated for spacial (in relation to the observation time) and time analyses (in relation to the monitoring points), for each area and both periods (moming and aftemoon). The smallest variation in time analysis of T was found in the Me. The spacial analysis showed no significant statistical difference of the CV values between AG e MC, In AG the largest mean value of T was found. The MC area showed the largest values of the CV and mean ones in spacial analyses of U. However significant statistical difference ofthe values of CV in time analyses of U was not observed between AG e MC. This fact permit to say that the U varies through the time similarly in the both areas and that after reaching a certain levei of vegetation development the microclimate generated by agricultural activities becomes similar to that in the riparian area. DEPANRI adalah forum koordinasi tingkat tinggi di bidang kebijakan pemanfaatan wilayah udara nasional dan antariksa bagi penerbangan, telekomunikasi, dan kepentingan nasional lainnya. Berdasarkan Keppres Nomor 132 Tahun 1998 dijelaskan bahwa kesekretariatan DEPANRI dilaksanakan oleh LAPAN. Namun pada 4 Desember 2014 didasarkan pada Keputusan Presiden RI Nomor 179 Tahun 2014, DEPANRI dibubarkan. Pembubaran ini sangat berpengaruh pada reposisi peran LAPAN yang selama ini bertindak selaku Sekretariat DEPANRI. Kajian ini dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif-deskriptif melalui studi pustaka menjelaskan reposisi peran LAPAN pasca pembubaran dan peran koordinasi yang selama ini dilakukan DEPANRI. Hasil kajian adalah reposisi peran LAPAN dalam menjalankan peran DEPANRI melalui Pusat Kajian Kebijakan Penerbangan dan Antariksa, LAPAN (Pusat KKPA) menjadi lemah ketika harus berkoordinasi dengan stakeholders lain. Fungsi koordinasi seharusnya dilakukan oleh kementerian yang membawahi lembaga dan intitusi terkait kegiatan penerbangan dan antariksa, yang memiliki posisi sejajar dengan kementerian lainnya.

Studi ini bertujuan untuk (i) mengetahui perbedaan tingkat capaian implementasi eGovernment pada tingkat LPNK di Indonesia berdasarkan dimensi kebijakan, kelembagaan, infrastruktur, aplikasi dan perencanaan; dan (ii) mengetahui komparasi tingkat capaian implementasi e-Government LAPAN dengan LPNK lainnya pada tingkat nasional. Metode analisis data yang digunakan pada studi ini ialah uji statistik Friedman. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa (i) terdapat perbedaan tingkat capaian implementasi e-Government yang signifikan pada tingkat LPNK di Indonesia berdasarkan dimensi kebijakan, kelembagaan, infrastruktur, aplikasi dan perencanaan; dan (ii) Tingkat capaian implementasi e-Government LAPAN jauh lebih baik dibanding dengan BSN, LKPP, BMKG, BAPETEN, LEMSANEG, BKN, BPN, BKPM, BNP2TKI, BASARNAS, BNN, LAN dan BNPT tetapi masih jauh lebih rendah dari BPS, BPPT, PNRI, BIG, LIPI, BNPB, LEMHANAS, BPKP, BKKBN dan BATAN. Selain itu t tingkat capaian implementasi eGovernment LAPAN untuk dimensi aplikasi ternyata jauh lebih baik apabila dibanding dengan dimensi perencanaan, kebijakan, infrastruktur dan kelembagaan.

DEPANRI merupakan forum koordinasi nasional tingkat tinggi di bidang kebijakan penerbangan dan antariksa yang telah dibubarkan oleh Pemerintah Indonesia melalui Peraturan Presiden Nomor 176 Tahun 2014 tentang Pembubaran DEPANRI dan Beberapa Lembaga Non Struktural lainnya. Akibatnya, LAPAN dalam menyampaikan hasil kajian kebijakan strategis nasionalnya kepada Presiden mengalami hambatan. Terutama terkait dengan kebijakan selain aspek teknis dibidang penerbangan dan antariksa yang bersifat lintas sektor yang memerlukan koordinasi dengan kementerian/lembaga dan stakeholder terkait. Tujuannya adalah mengkaji pertimbangan dan dasar tentang perlu atau tidaknya forum atau media koordinasi nasional yang dapat memberikan saran rumusan kebijakan strategis nasional dibidang penerbangan dan antariksa kepada Presiden RI. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian adalah yuridis normatif dan yuridis empiris. Berdasarkan hasil kajian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perlu dibentuknya sebuah forum atau media koordinasi nasional yang bernama Panitia Ad-hoc yang dapat mewadahi LAPAN dan Kementerian/Lembaga terkait lainnya dalam melakukan kajian kebijakan strategis nasional dibidang penerbangan dan antariksa serta menjembatani dalam menyampaikan hasil kebijakannya kepada Presiden RI.

Kerja sama keantariksaan merupakan salah satu faktor penting pembangunan kemampuan keantariksaan negara berkembang termasuk Indonesia. Kerja sama dapat dilakukan secara bilateral maupun multilateral. Indonesia pada tahun 2013 telah mendatangani persetujuan kerja sama di bidang keantariksaan dengan Pemerintah Tiongkok. Tiongkok telah meratifikasi perjanjian tersebut. Di sisi lain, Indonesia sampai saat ini belum meratifikasi perjanjian tersebut. Pertanyaan penelitian yang diajukan adalah bagaimana skema kerja sama yang tepat bagi kerja sama bilateral Indonesia-Tiongkok di bidang keantariksaan keantariksaan dan bagaimana seharusnya langkah Pemerintah Indonesia (dhi LAPAN) terhadap kerja sama bilateral keantariksaan dengan Pemerintah Tiongkok? Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis skema kerja sama bilateral Indonesia-Tiongkok di bidang keantariksaan yang tepat dengan menggunakan kerangka kerja yang dikembangkan oleh Broniatowski dkk (2008). Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan menggunakan kerangka kerja evaluasi Broniatowski. Setelah dilakukan analisis, dihasilkan kesimpulan bahwa skema yang tepat adalah skema parallel mission dan Pemerintah Indonesia (LAPAN) segera melakukan langkah tindak lanjut yang diperlukan sesuai dengan ketentuan perundangan nasional.

Over recent years, RSTRENG has gained acceptance as a reliable method of assessing the effect of pipeline corrosion defects, while reducing the conservatism inherent in some of the alternative assessment models. The Length Adaptive Pressure Assessment (LAPA) algorithm has been developed to apply an adaptation of the RSTRENG methodology directly to the results of a magnetic in-line inspection. Adoption of the LAPA technique offers substantial accuracy and efficiency benefits over the more conventional processes, but the industry requires confirmation of the method’s validity before it can take advantage of these. The paper will describe the LAPA validation work performed by PII, and independent validation undertaken by TransCanada Pipelines and other pipeline operators. The independent validation took the form of a comparison of LAPA-based burst pressure calculations with RSTRENG calculations based on direct infield measurements of the defect profile. TransCanada also performed a series of burst tests to quantify the accuracy of the LAPA calculations.
