Full textThe MEMS components involve more and more multi-physical and multi-technology features with new applications denser and more "intelligent". Few description languages or methods can truly describe and simulate the complexity of such structures. In this thesis, our goal has been the development of high-level behavioral models allowing the simulation of intelligence structures, called "smart structures", based on MEMS. A methodology of "virtual prototyping" based on VHDL-AMS was chosen. VHDL-AMS is adapted to the multi-physical and multi-technology modeling. We have developed an approach to modeling a "micromanipulation fluidics" system formed with a MEMS networks. The simulation models have described at "behavioral" level, then "structural behavioral" level and finally "components" level, before being validated by experimental comparison

Full textPower electronic and electrical drive controllers are generally implemented by microprocessors or Digital Signal Processor (DSP) solutions. Recent progress in hardware solutions such as Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) applications have improved implementation performances of controllers. However, the main problems of integrated circuit conception are their complexity and a long conception time. In this thesis, the author develops a new architectural approach for the integration of electrical controllers on ASIC and FPGA circuits. He proposes to apply a modular methodology that is based on specific Intellectual Properties (IPs) library. This methodology was confirmed by a large number of applications such as: a direct torque controller for an ac motor, a sensorless speed controller for a switched reluctance motor, and an active shunt filter. Results in terms of integration and control performances show that the adopted modular methodology matches perfectly the requirements of the integration of electrical controller. The same developed approach was used to model a global electrical systems. The obtained model is based on a mixed library of analogue and digital parts described in VHDL and VHDL-AMS language

Full textOptimization of the "antenna - system" association is a major concern of UHF RFID tag designers. The mutual evaluation of the collected and the re-radiated power by the tag antenna makes possible system performance evaluation, early in the design flow. Thus, we develop VHDL-AMS models of RFID systems at different abstraction levels. Those models include the antennas and the RF link. The main advantage of using the VHDL-AMS language is that it is widely used within the computer-aided design tools and that this language is compatible with the microelectronic design flow

Full textIn a technological context in which the integration degree in micro and optoelectronic circuits increases more and more, it becomes necessary for the designers to get complete simulation tools, in order to study not only the behavior of different constitutive elements of sub-systems that they design, but also to evaluate global performances of the system. This thesis work concerns the design of opto-electronic component models, by using VHDL-AMS language. This language is very convenient for multi-domain modelling : electronics, optics, thermics or mechanics. It gives also the capability to get models at different abstraction levels in the system. Our work is a part of SHAMAN project. Its objective is to model every component of an opto-electronic system with the conditions of high speed, short distance, and strong thermal and mechanical interactions. The methodology used is hierarchical, combining top-down and bottom-up design flow in order to get optimal solutions about performances, cost and design time, and by re-using virtual components following intellectual property rules (IP)

Full textThis thesis abords ultrasound modelling systems with VHDL-AMS. Goal is prediction of a measurement cell behaviour dedicated to ultrasound non linearity measurements. To preview in a near future miniaturisation and conception of a measurement system which performances could be estimated with ours models, we proceed by a decomposition of the measurement system with associating to each elements a behavioural model developed in VHDL-AMS language. Originality of ours works is the integration of the non linearity parameter B/A in the propagation medium modelling. Simulation results are rigorously compared to implantation in Matlab and PSPICE software and in vitro measurement. This work is divided in 4 parts : State of the art of the ultrasound modelling systems ; Theoretical analysis of the non linear propagation and measurement methods of the parameter B/A ; Piezoceramic transducers and non linear medium modelling with VHDL-AMS ; Modelling and conception of a non linearity measurement cell in pulse-echo and transmission mode. Results obtained show that a medium could be characterized as function to the B/A parameter estimated with different biological and liquid mediums. Perspectives open by this work has been highlighted by scientific community members at different international congress

Full textToday, requirements in system designs are extending more and more from electronic design (analogue and digital) to multidiscipline design. These current needs imply implementation of methodologies to optimize and to make the CAD product reliable. The recent VHDL-AMS standard seems to fit very well. This thesis presents an application of virtual prototype dedicated to a multisensor and multiuser DS-SS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum) transceiver system using ISM unlicensed band. The first part describes the state of the art of system design and software tools. After this, the whole digital and analogue stages will be developed under VHDL-AMS standard. Our study will focus on the synchronization and tracking entity topology choice, which are the main functions of a spread spectrum communication device. In order to complete VHDL-AMS library dedicated to telecommunication, a model of AWGN channel including a noise generator (Box-Muller method) will be proposed. Finally, a hardware prototype will be developped, based on digital function implantations in a FPGA chipset allowing to assess such a system data rate, bit error rate and size performances
