Abstract:
Abstract. The present paper arose from the publication of a new law on the promotion of tourism in Italy. It focuses on the image of the Lakes area in the Swiss– Italian border region–a traditional tourist area-as conveyed by the various regional tourist agencies through their information brochures and leaflets. The two «myths» appearing most frequently are the mediterranean character and the natural features of the region in question. The Swiss promotors also emphasize sports activities and the cultural heritage, two elements of the image which are particulary efficient components of the image. The analysis of the brochures and leaflets reveals that the different tourist agencies ought to coordinate their information activities more fully in order to create an integrated image of the region. This in turn could help to better exploit the tourist potential of the region.

Abstract:
The use of robotics is becoming widespread in healthcare. However, little is known about how robotics can affect the relationship with patients during an emergency or how it impacts clinicians in their organization and work. As a hospital responding to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic “ASST dei Sette Laghi” (A7L) in Varese, Italy, had to react quickly to protect its staff from infection while coping with high budgetary pressure as prices of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) increased rapidly. In response, it introduced six semi-autonomous robots to mediate interactions between staff and patients. Thanks to the cooperation of multiple departments, A7L implemented the solution in less than 10 weeks. It reduced risks to staff and outlay for PPE. However, the characteristics of the robots affected staff's perceptions. This case study reviews critical issues faced by A7L in introducing these devices and recommendations for the path forward.

Abstract:
The town of Mantua is a good example of an urban area with an intricate surface water system leading to complex groundwater/surface-water interactions. In this context, the Site of National Interest (SIN) “Laghi di Mantova e Polo Chimico”, is characterized by intense pumping activity by means of industrial wells and hydraulic barriers. In order to establish the interactions between groundwater and the surface water system, evaluating their relation with the pumping activities, a transient groundwater numerical model was developed (January 2016 - December 2018) using MODFLOW-2005 and the Streamflow-Routing (SFR2) package, following a participatory approach. Results show how, depending on the minimum/ maximum groundwater conditions and the discharge values of the surface channels, the relation between groundwater/surface-waters can vary during the year, also affecting the operation of the hydraulic barriers. The stakeholders could use the calibrated model in the future to ensure optimal management of the pumping activities within the SIN.

Abstract:
- This paper studies basic need satisfaction of competence, autonomy and relatedness (Deci & Ryan, 2000) and professional values in 232 subjects from the 102 Viterbo local health facility (ASL): 110 nursing students, 102 nurses and 20 nurses executives, assuming both the existence of relationships between need satisfaction and values and the career level had a significant effect on satisfaction and motivations. For this purpose the Basic Psychological Needs Scale (ad. It. Szadejko, 2003) and the Value Based Motivation Assessment Scale (Pallini and Laghi, in press) have been used. Prosociality and security resulted predominant, while competitiveness, autonomy and hedonism were scarcely represented. The growing professionalism of nurses would explain the evaluation of epistemic interest. In a statistically significant way nursing students value safety, belonging, cooperation and prosociality, nurses and nurse executives novelties and nurse executives competition. Student nurses perceive themselves as more satisfied in their psychological needs. Basic need satisfaction resulted to be closely linked with value of prosociality, cooperation and belonging.

Abstract:
Cherax destructor is a crayfish endemic to south-eastern Australia and one of the last alien crayfish to be introduced in Italy. In the Laghi di Ninfa Natural Reserve (Latium region, Central Italy), the species was probably introduced in 1999, but only reported for the first time in 2008. Nearby this area, the most widespread alien crayfish is the red swamp crayfish Procambarus clarkii. In the Natural Reserve, between 2008 and 2013 and during spring and summer, crayfish sampling was carried out with baited traps to assess the distribution of C. destructor and its possible relationship with P. clarkii. Cherax destructor was first recorded in 2008; few P. clarkii were detected in the cultivation ponds where C. destructor was present in 2012 and 2013. Moreover, crayfish plague analyses evidenced a positive result in two out of the 12 sampled P. clarkii. Cherax destructor is now completely absent from the Natural Reserve, while P. clarkii has spread in the area and was probably responsible for this eradication since C. destructor is vulnerable to crayfish plague which was also detected in the area. An ecosystem restoration project in the area favoured the spread of. P. clarkii; the implications of this intervention are discussed.

Abstract:
The Calabrian Alpine newt (Ichthyosaura alpestris inexpectata) is a glacial relict with small and extremely localised populations in the Catena Costiera (Calabria, Southern Italy) and is considered to be “Endangered” by the Italian IUCN assessment. Climate-induced habitat loss and recent fish introductions in three lakes of the Special Area of Conservation (SAC) Laghi di Fagnano threaten the subspecies’ survival in the core of its restricted range. Considering these challenges, understanding the distribution and abundance of this newt is crucial. We surveyed the spatially clustered wetlands in the SAC and neighbouring areas. First, we provide the updated distribution of this subspecies, highlighting fish-invaded and fishless sites historically known to host Calabrian Alpine newt populations and two new breeding sites that have been recently colonised. Then, we provide a rough estimate of the abundance, body size and body condition of breeding adults and habitat characteristics in fish-invaded and fishless ponds. We did not detect Calabrian Alpine newts at two historically known sites now invaded by fish. Our results indicate a reduction in occupied sites and small-size populations. These observations highlight the need for future strategies, such as fish removal, the creation of alternative breeding habitats and captive breeding, to preserve this endemic taxon.

Abstract:
This study compares two surgical techniques used to treat patients with posterior shoulder dislocation with an engaging reverse Hill–Sachs lesion. We assessed ten patients who were treated at the Surgical Orthopedic and Traumatological Institute (ICOT) of Latina and the Clinic of Orthopedic and Traumatological Surgery of the ASST Sette Laghi of Varese between 2016 and 2019. The patients were divided into two groups: the first comprising six patients who underwent the open surgery McLaughlin procedure as modified by Neer, the second including four patients who underwent the arthroscopic McLaughlin procedure. All patients received postoperative rehabilitation to achieve the best possible functional recovery of the affected shoulder. We then assessed the shoulder range of motion, the pain level, and the impact on quality of life with four tests: the Constant Scale, the Simple Shoulder Test (SST), the OXFORD Scale, and The University of California—Los Angeles (UCLA) Shoulder Scale. The mean scores of the first group were: 81.3 ± 9.8 SD (Constant Scale), 10.8 ± 1.06 SD (SST), 42.5 ± 5.4 SD (Oxford Scale), 30.8 ± 3.02 SD (UCLA Shoulder Scale); we calculated the following mean scores in the second group: 80.25 ± 4.1 SD (Constant Scale), 11.5 ± 0.8 SD (SST), 42 ± 4.06 SD (Oxford Scale), 32 ± 2.9 SD (UCLA Shoulder Scale). We found no significant differences between the two groups.

Full text
Abstract:
The objective of the work is to identify any significant relationships between different levels of fair value hierarchy for the valuation of financial assets and two main variables: market capitalization and net income. We considered a sample of 506 insurance companies in two main areas –in the US and in Europe - all listed between 2013 and 2008. Results confirm the hypothesis of correlation between fair value hierarchy adopted in assessing the asset value and market capitalization of the companies, consistently with previous results of Laghi et al. (2012). Moreover, introducing the market-to-book ratio, results show a problem of undervaluation for insurance companies with a relatively larger amount of Level 2 and Level 3 financial assets than Level 1 assets. Nevertheless, results for companies listed in European markets do not provide strong evidence. Moreover, the relationship between different levels of fair value assets and net income is confirmed for the US market but not strongly enough for European companies to consider Level 3 as anti-cyclical instruments for financial reporting. The research results can be useful in helping investors to assess the impact of fair value hierarchy practice on financial reporting of insurance companies. However, a limitation of the analysis is represented by the use of aggregate data for each class of fair value asset, without considering the specific impact related of composition of each category of financial asset evaluated with fair value hierarchy in financial portfolios.

Abstract:
This article aims to understand what it is that has made and still makes millions of Muslims taking great physical and financial hardship to go on the Muslim pilgrimage. It seems that the reason why Muslims yearn to visit Mecca has to be understood by looking at what emotions, and especially spiritual emotions, are triggered through this visit or even through the imagination of visiting the holy land. This yearning cannot just be understood based on wanting to fulfill one of the five pillars of Islam. Religious or spiritual travel like the journey to the holy land of Islam needs to be understood within the context of an individual’s emotional landscape, spiritual development and urge for spiritual self-improvement to become a better person and Muslim. This article used qualitative method, particularly semi-structured interviews with the informants. The results showed that pilgrimage to the Muslim holy land in Mecca can be a changing experience for the pilgrim undertaking the journey.

Abstract:
The fundamental challenge of developing a long-acting growth hormone (LAGH) is to create a more convenient growth hormone (GH) dosing profile while retaining the excellent safety, efficacy and tolerability of daily GH. With GH receptors on virtually all cells, replacement therapy should achieve the same tissue distribution and effects of daily (and endogenous) GH while maintaining levels of GH and resulting IGF-1 within the physiologic range. To date, only two LAGHs have gained the approval of either the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the European Medicines Agency (EMA); both released unmodified GH, thus presumably replicating distribution and pharmacological actions of daily GH. Other technologies have been applied to create LAGHs, including modifying GH (for example, protein enlargement or albumin binding) such that the resulting analogues possess a longer half-life. Based on these approaches, nearly 20 LAGHs have reached various stages of clinical development. Although most have failed, lessons learned have guided the development of a novel LAGH. TransCon GH is a LAGH prodrug in which GH is transiently bound to an inert methoxy polyethylene glycol (mPEG) carrier. It was designed to achieve the same safety, efficacy and tolerability as daily GH but with more convenient weekly dosing. In phase 2 trials of children and adults with growth hormone deficiency (GHD), similar safety, efficacy and tolerability to daily GH was shown as well as GH and IGF-1 levels within the physiologic range. These promising results support further development of TransCon GH.

Abstract:
Abstract Lagi, a less studied Malay adverb, has meanings such as ‘in addition’, ‘again’, ‘more’, and ‘yet/still’. We aimed to see how these meanings could be related in a single word and to find the conceptualization and grammatical paths involved. We also intended to find out whether this word carries any underlying meanings not specified in dictionaries. In the corpus, although many examples have lagi in the sentence-final position, some unconventional sentence-initial uses were also found in news headlines. We found that lagi serves a special function in news headlines, emphasizing the repeatedness of events that were often negative or undesirable. The seemingly unrelated meanings of lagi can be categorized based on three meaning concepts – addition/more meaning, less-more continuum, and temporal lagi (‘yet/still’, ‘again’). In addition to these concepts, we also found several possible grammaticalization paths that contribute to the different uses of lagi.

Abstract:
Abstract. This study investigates the thermal structures of the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) and the near-surface wind field associated with a lake-valley circulation in the south-eastern Italian Alps – the so-called Ora del Garda. Two flights of an equipped motorglider allowed for the exploration of the diurnal evolution of this circulation, from the onset, on Lake Garda's shoreline, throughout its development along the Sarca Valley and Lakes Valley (Valle dei Laghi), to the outflow into the Adige Valley. At the same time, surface observations, both from a targeted field campaign and from routinely operated weather stations, supported the analysis of the development of the Ora del Garda at the valley floor. In particular, in the valleys typical ABL vertical structures, characterized by rather shallow convective mixed layers (~ 500 m) and (deeper) weakly stable layers above, up to the lateral crest height, are identified in the late morning. In contrast, close to the lake the ABL is stably stratified down to very low heights, as a consequence of the intense advection of colder air associated with the Ora del Garda flow (up to 6 m s–1). The combined analysis of surface and airborne observations (remapped over 3-D high-resolution grids) suggests that the lake-breeze front propagating up-valley from the shoreline in the late morning penetrates slightly later at the eastern end of the valley inlet (delay: ~ 1 h), probably due to the asymmetric radiative forcing caused by the N–S valley orientation. On the other hand, in the early afternoon the Ora del Garda overflows through an elevated gap, producing an anomalous, strong cross-valley wind (5 m s–1) at the Adige Valley floor north of Trento, which overwhelms the local up-valley wind. This feature is associated with a strong deepening of the local mixed layer (from 400 to 1300 m). The potential temperature 3-D field suggests that the intense turbulent mixing may be attributed to the development of a downslope wind across the gap, followed by a hydraulic jump downstream.

Abstract:
Music has a personal interest in its individual. It can deliver happiness for those who listen to it. On the other hand, the music should correlate with its pictures through the video clip, such as color, sound, gesture, etc. This article attempts to investigate and explore the interpersonal meaning of the LATHI Song. This study was conducted qualitatively using a descriptive-analytical study to check how different semiotic and modes such as music, sound, speech, color, action, and facial expression work together to build the interpersonal meaning. LATHI song is successful in attracting audiences' attention around the world. The song's lyrics are mainly in English, except for the bridge sung in Javanese. Not only that, but the bridge also employs pelog, a Javanese seven-note scale used in gamelan arrangements. In addition, its instruments played has a unique characteristic and easy listening.

Abstract:
Introduction. The aim of our observational cross-sectional study was to evaluate the association between visual function and anatomical characteristics of LMH, considering in particular different subtypes of LMH and their features. Materials and Methods. This observational clinical study has been conducted in the Ophthalmology Clinic, ASST-Sette Laghi, University of Insubria of Varese-Como, Italy. Included patients underwent a complete ophthalmological examination, as well as MP1 microperimetry evaluation and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Two experienced masked observers evaluated OCT imaging in order to assess the integrity of the photoreceptor layer (interdigitation zone and ellipsoid zone: IZ/EZ) and the external limiting membrane (ELM). Results. Twenty-five patients affected by an LMH were evaluated. Eighteen eyes of 18 patients met the study criteria and were included. Based on morphological and functional data, LMHs were divided into two subgroups: tractional (tLMH) and degenerative (dLMH). We identified 11 tLMHs and seven dLMHs. Functional parameters showed a significative difference in visual acuity and retinal sensitivity between the two groups, respectively: (sample median and the interquartile range) 0.0 (0.0; 0.09) LogMAR vs 0.15 (0.09; 0.52) LogMAR and 16.2 (14.2; 17.7) dB vs 10.0 (7.5; 11.8) dB (p<0.05). Fixation was predominantly central in 90.9% of tLMH vs 71.4% of dLMH and stable in 81.8% tLMH vs 42.9% dLMH, but the differences were not statistically significant. Tractional and degenerative LMHs showed no significant differences in central foveal thickness. Conversely, LMH depth and horizontal diameters appeared different between the two groups. Tractional LMH showed a greater depth 257 (205; 278) μm vs 190 (169; 249) μm, whereas degenerative LMH showed a greater horizontal diameter 653 (455; 750) μm vs 429 (314; 620) μm (p<0.05). IZ/EZ line was unaffected in 81.8% of tLMHs eyes versus 14.3% of dLMHs eyes (p<0.05). Visual acuity and retinal sensitivity were higher in eyes with integrity of both IZ/EZ and ELM compared to those with a disruption of one or both layers (p<0.05). Conclusion. Two different subtypes of LMH showed peculiar functional aspects due to their morphological features. Tractional LMHs revealed higher visual acuity and retinal sensibility due to the relative preservation of the outer retinal layers compared to degenerative LMHs. Moreover, we underlined the importance of microperimetry to better identify functional defects in macular degenerative pathologies.
