Abstract:
Skeletal remains of the prehistoric New Zealand dog, the kuri, are frequently recovered from archaeological sites. Despite their relative ubiquity only one major study, and the last for twenty five years, has been conducted. That work provided limited anatomical and osteometric information and concluded that the kuri population was homogenous through space and across time. This study set out to provide a more detailed skeletal description and to investigate the question of population homogeneity by examinig kuri skeletal material from five museums and two university anthropology departments. Metric and non-metric data was collected from a total of thirty seven archaeological sites from throuhout New Zealand. Variation within the population was established by comparing coefficients of variation across a number of variables. A program of univariate and multivariate analysis was carried out to examine spatial and temporal variation. Results showed that the appendicular skeleton of the kuri has the highest levels of variation. Smaller limb shaft dimensions of late prehistoric kuri are thought to be due to a reliance on insufficient quantities of marine foods. Tooth wear analysis of late prehistoric dogs showed that they had severe tooth wear compared to �Archaic� dogs.

Kandidaatintutkielmani käsittelee musiikinopettajan valtaa ja auktoriteettia sekä niistä seuraavaa vastuuta yläkoulun musiikin opetuksessa. Valta ja auktoriteetti ovat laajoja käsitteitä, joita voi määritellä useilla tavoilla. Keskityn työssäni muutamaan tärkeimpään vallan ja auktoriteetin käsitteeseen, jotka kuvaavat parhaiten musiikinopettajan arkea koulussa. Määrittelen työssäni suomalaisen musiikin opetuksen sekä vallan ja auktoriteetin käsitteet yleisellä tasolla, jonka jälkeen käsittelen valtaa ja auktoriteettia yleisesti opetuksessa. Musiikinopettajalla on samat oikeudet ja velvollisuudet kuin muillakin opettajilla, mutta musiikin tunneille ominainen soittimisto ja laitteisto tuovat lisähaasteita erityisesti opettajan vastuuta ajatellen. Olen valinnut tärkeimmiksi vallan käsitteiksi kurinpitoa, asemaa, arviointia ja henkilökohtaisia ominaisuuksia koskevat käsitteet. Nämä vallan muodot kuvaavat parhaiten yläkoulun musiikinopettajan monipuolisia työtehtäviä. Kurinpitovaltaa koskevat kysymykset ovat myös nousseet julkisuuteen kouluissa tapahtuneiden konfliktien seurauksena. Sen vuoksi käsittelen tutkielmassani myös julkisuuteen, sananvapauteen ja salassapitovelvollisuuteen liittyviä asioita. Opettajan auktoriteettia kuvaaviksi käsitteiksi olen valinnut virallisen, epävirallisen ja tiedollisen auktoriteetin käsitteet, koska niitä painotetaan useissa tutkielmaani varten lukemissani teoksissa. Opettajan vastuusta tuon esille erityisesti turvallisuutta koskevat asiat, koska musiikin tunneilla voi sattua esimerkiksi kuuloa vahingoittavia onnettomuuksia. Näitä onnettomuuksia voi estää sillä, että opettaja ottaa vastuuta musiikin luokan turvallisuudesta ja oppilaiden ohjeistamisesta. Valtaa ja auktoriteettia käyttäessä opettaja ei voi välttää vastuun kantoa. Opettajan valta on usein mielletty hankalaksi ja monimutkaiseksi kokonaisuudeksi monimutkaisten säännösten ja muuttuneiden lakien takia. Opettajan on kuitenkin hyvä olla perillä vallankäytön mahdollisuuksista ja rajoituksista, jotta opetus ja mahdolliset konfliktitilanteet sujuisivat mahdollisimman vaivattomasti. Vallankäyttöön liittyvien lakien tuntemus auttaa myös tiedostamaan tarpeellisia omaan ammattiin liittyviä oikeuksia.

Gilles Deleuze'as kuria kinui būdingus konceptus, kurie pagilina kino problematiką, suteikdami jai filosofinį pagrindą. Savo vaizdinio-judėjimo ir vaizdinio-laiko knygose – Kinas 1 ir Kinas 2 – Deleuze'as konceptus taiko klasikiniui ir moderniajam kinui. Kino filmų jis nepasirenka kaip savo konceptų iliustracijų, o juos vertina kaip tuos pačius konceptus, išreikštus vaizdine forma. Pagrindinis šio magistrinio darbo tikslas – aptarti bet-kurios-erdvės, kuri priklauso vaizdinio-judėjimo kinui ir išreiškia netiesioginį laiką, ir vaizdo-kristalo, išreikšiantį sudėtingą tiesioginio laiko sistemą, konceptus ir tirti jų apraiškas kino mene.
Gilles Deleuze creates concepts characteristic of cinema which deepen the problematics of cinema providing a philosophical basis to it. In his books of movement-image and time-image – Cinema 1 and Cinema 2 – Deleuze applies concepts to classical and modern cinema. He doesn‘t choose movies as illustrations of his concepts but values them as the same concepts expressed in visual form. The main aim of this master thesis – to discuss the concepts of any-space-whatever, which belongs to the cinema of movement-image and expresses indirect time, as well as of crystal-image, which expresses a complex system of direct time, and to investigate their manifestations in the art of cinema.

Abstract:
This thesis explores the nature of contemporary sculptural practices in relation to the broader field of installed sculpture (which deploy articulated, interrelated, but autonomous components) and in the context of recent approaches to both curation and display. The artistic work and attendant commentary constitute a response to the issues of sculptural agency and display raised by both the practice-based outcomes and key works of several contemporary artists: Gabriel Kuri, Gedi Sibony, Melanie Counsell, Marc Camille Chaimowicz and Michael Dean. In a number of exhibitions ‘post-installation’ practices and the function of ‘montage’ sculpture is examined. Through outlining the current landscape of sculptural production and medium specificity a progressive notion of the monument is established. The sculptural artwork is seen to retain a political resistance, as both art-object and thing in the world. An assessment is made of how sculptures produce space within and through their exhibition context, directly related to the production of space as a whole (a social morphology posited by Henri Lefebvre). Applying a conception of time in reference to spatial production opens up the artwork’s potential to draw on complex codes of mnemonic function, which can potentially generate emancipatory agency from ideological issues in late-capitalism. Re-readings of key installed works by Marc Camille Chaimowicz and Mark Dean, through contexts derived from Nietzsche and Mark Fisher, reveal how sculptures can activate specific mnemonic codes, or collective memory. Such art works utilise a ‘forgetful memory’ – a reflexive process of positing, junking and reimagining relationships to cultural information. The body of artistic work produced for this research, intertwined with its critical reflection, makes an original contribution to knowledge by interrogating theoretically and experientially the potentials of ‘the sculptural’, as part of the plural production of art and exhibition-making. By means of practice and its outcomes, the research engages the current dynamics of spatial production and radicality of sculptural objecthood. The work examines the complex relationships between social memory and historicity, with which sculpture in an exhibition environment can engage.

Abstract:
Según el Ministerio de Salud (MINSA), la anemia constituye un problema de salud pública, la cual afecta a niños especialmente en situaciones de pobreza. Sin embargo, una inadecuada alimentación, a partir de grasas, proteínas vacías y carbohidratos puede llevar a infantes de cualquier edad a sufrir de dicha enfermedad. Para hacer frente a dicha enfermedad, muchas familias complementan la alimentación de sus hijos con vitaminas, las cuales tienen diversas fuentes. En la actualidad, el descubrimiento y puesta en valor de las propiedades nutricionales del cushuro, animan a presentar un producto a partir de dicha alga. Kumi Gomitas, es un suplemento nutricional, no golosina, diseñado especialmente para niños, a partir del extracto de cushuro, un alga de las regiones alto andinas, ricas en proteínas y hierro. Kumi Gomitas además se encuentra enriquecidas con camu camu como fuente de vitamina C y endulzado con miel de abeja. Kumi Gomitas, será vendido principalmente en supermercados, tiendas de conveniencia y cadenas de farmacias. La evaluación financiera, muestra que el proyecto es sensible ante cambios en el precio, ya que ante ligeros cambios en los precios (-13%) el proyecto deja generar beneficios, de igual forma al aumentar en precio del cushuro S/ 40.85. Finalmente, concluimos que el proyecto Kumi Gomitas, es viable y esto se ve reflejado a través de la evaluación económica, que da como resultado un VPN para los inversionistas de S/125,699 y una TIR de 23.91%. Asimismo, el proyecto tiene bajo riesgo, porque la inversión se logra recuperar en 2.45 años.
According to the Ministry of Health (MINSA), anemia constitutes a public health problem, which affects children in situations of poverty. However, an inadequate diet, based on fats, empty proteins and carbohydrates can lead infants of any age to suffer from this disease. To cope with this disease, many families supplement the feeding of their children with vitamins, which have various sources. At present, the discovery and enhancement of the nutritional properties of cushuro, encourage the presentation of a product made from said algae. Kumi Gomitas, is a nutritional supplement, not candy, designed especially for children, from the extract of cushuro, an algae from the high Andean regions, rich in protein and iron. Kumi Gummies are also enriched with camu camu as a source of vitamin C and sweetened with honey. Kumi Gomitas, will be sold mainly in supermarkets, convenience stores and pharmacy chains. The financial evaluation shows that the project is sensitive to price changes, since in the event of slight price changes (-13%) the project allows generating profits, in the same way when the price of cushuro increases S / 40.85. Finally, we conclude that the Kumi Gomitas project is viable and this is reflected through the economic evaluation, which results in a NPV for investors of S/125,699 and an IRR of 23.91%. Likewise, the project has low risk, because the investment can be recovered in 2.49 years.

Abstract:
Church initiated and operated Maori secondary boarding schools have existed in Aotearoa in various forms since the arrival of the missionaries in the early 19th century. Since their inception, they have contributed significantly to the development of Maori society, particularly in the production of dynamic Maori leaders who have had a compelling influence on their communities, wider Maori society and in some instances on the nation state. This thesis will examine the Society of Mary�s establishment of Hato Paora College, Feilding, as an example of a Maori Catholic secondary boarding school. The first part contains four general chapters that provide relevant background information to the establishment of Hato Paora. The first identifies key aspects of a Maori Catholic world view and Maori Catholicism. Chapter two traces the arrival, and subsequent development, of the Catholic Church in New Zealand as a mission to Maori. The next chapter looks more specifically at the history of the Society of Mary in New Zealand and the development of the Diocese of Wellington, particularly their Maori missions, under their authority. Finally, Chapter four chronicles the situation of Maori within the New Zealand education system since its inception. Part two of this thesis contains eight chapters that present a detailed case study of Hato Paora. The exploration of the type of educational environment provided by Hato Paora College begins in Chapter six with the examination of its foundation. Chapters seven and eight look at the philosophies and administration of each of the six rectors. The two succeeding chapters describe the defining characteristics of the school, its Maori character and its Catholic character. Chapter eleven evaluates how this school has influenced the boys who attended, using interviews with a representative sampling of old boys. Chapter twelve concerns the relationships that the College early established with the Maori communities that it belongs to. In the final chapter, a model will be presented as a plan for the future of the school. This philosophical model attempts to provide a guide for Hato Paora, using Kaupapa Maori theory as the basic framework, while still retaining the ideals and philosophies of the College�s Marist founders.

Die Stenografische Sammlung der SLUB wird in diesem Jahr 174 Jahre alt. Schon 1835 erwarb das sächsische Parlament Lehrbücher für die Ausbildung künftiger Landtagsstenografen. Diese kleine Büchersammlung wuchs schnell und wurde 1839 dem neubegründeten „Kgl. Stenographischen Institut“ zugeordnet. 130 Jahre später (1966) kam sie mit Auflösung des „Stenographischen Landesamtes“ an die Sächsische Landesbibliothek.

Abstract:
It has been a widely accepted belief in scientific and public discourse at the end of the twentieth century that cannibalism was the principal means of transmission of the disease call 'Kuru'.The study argues that other explanations might have been excluded from consideration, in particular, iatrogenic transmission.Circumstantial evidence in support of this proposition is examined.The work begins with an examination of the relationship between a number of diseases including, X disease, poliomyelitis, louping ill, scrapie and kuru through the first half of the twentieth century. Major themes of the work revolve around the boundary between research on animal and human disease, the complexities of research in this area, and the different messages that exist simultaneously in three domains: scientific research and publications, government and institutional archives, and the public domain. The thesis argues that the circumstantial evidence presented needs to be considered seriously and that further research in the area is required before we can come to a reliable understanding of the factors involved in the transmission of kuru

Am 2. Mai startete in insgesamt 33 öffentlichen Bibliotheken in Sachsen und mit rund 120 geschulten Bibliothekaren das Projekt „Chance Inklusion“. In den Partnerbibliotheken wird nun ein neuer Service angeboten, der den Gedanken der Inklusion unmittelbar stützt: Leser, deren Sehkraft nachlässt, werden fachkundig beraten und können auf einen zusätzlichen Bestand an speziellen Hörbüchern zugreifen. Mehr als 33.000 Hörbücher im barrierefreien DAISY-Format aus der Deutschen Zentralbücherei für Blinde (DZB) stehen den beteiligten Bibliotheken und ihren Nutzern zur Verfügung. Erste Erfahrungen beim Test des neuen Ausleihprojektes machte die Stadtbibliothek Strehla. Die Anmeldung und der Ablauf an sich sind einfach und unkompliziert, die Mitarbeiter der jeweiligen Bibliotheken stehen zudem jederzeit helfend zur Seite. Besonders für sehbehinderte Bibliotheksnutzer im ländlichen Raum eröffnen sich im Hinblick auf die große Medienauswahl der DZB nun ganz neue Perspektiven beim Lese- bzw. Hörvergnügen. „Chance Inklusion“ läuft zunächst für ein Jahr. Danach werden sich alle Beteiligten bei einem Treffen über die gesammelten Erfahrungen, entstandenen Möglichkeiten und das weitere Verfahren austauschen. Es soll in Zukunft an vielen weiteren öffentlichen Bibliotheken in ganz Sachsen etabliert werden.

Šio darbo tikslai – ištirti paprasčiausius fraktalus, išnagrinėti fraktalų savybių realizavimo ir fraktalų atvaizdavimo Logo priemonėmis galimybes, sudaryti fraktalų dėstymo mokiniams metodiką naudojant Logo. Šiems tikslams įgyvendinti iškeliami darbo uždaviniai – užrašyti matematinius fraktalų sudarymo algoritmus Logo kalba bei pateikti keletą fraktalų realizavimo Logo kalba pavyzdžių. Darbą sudaro dvi dalys. Pirmojoje pateikiamas fraktalų apibrėžimas, jų savybės, trumpa fraktalų istorija, detaliau nagrinėjami žinomi fraktalai – Julijaus ir Mandelbroto aibės. Antrojoje dalyje nagrinėjamos fraktalų vaizdavimo Logo priemonėmis galimybės, pateikiami Logo programų fraktalams kurti pavyzdžiai. Darbe ištirta, kaip modeliuojami fraktalai bei pateikta keletas programų Logo kalba fraktalams sudaryti. Programos antrojoje darbo dalyje pateikiamos nuosekliai, nuo paprasčiausių programėlių supažindinti su rekursija iki sudėtingesnių algoritmų įvairiems fraktalams sudaryti, taip pasiūlant glaustą fraktalų mokymo naudojant Logo metodiką. Nagrinėjant fraktalus susipažįstama su koordinačių sistemomis, sveikųjų skaičių aritmetika, begalybės sąvoka, lavinami skaičiavimo ir braižymo įgūdžiai. Fraktalus gali nagrinėti įvairaus amžiaus mokiniai. Perteikiant fraktalus paprasta ir visiems lengvai perprantama Logo kalba, kartu yra ugdomi algoritmavimo, programavimo ir darbo su kompiuteriu gebėjimai. The goal of this master's degree thesis is to analyze properties and generation algorithms of simple fractals and to implement these algorithms into Logo programming language suggesting methodology of teaching fractals using Logo in schools and providing some examples of Logo programs for fractal generation. The thesis consists of two parts. The first part provides basic theory on fractals. It begins with a simple explanation of what a fractal is using examples of self-similarity and recursive process and going into a more mathematical definition of fractals, introduced by B. Mandelbrot. After a brief history of fractals, a more in-depth analysis of Mandelbrot and Julia sets, the two well-known fractals arising from very simple sequences of complex numbers defined by the relation z_{n+1} = z_n^2 + c is given. The last chapter of the first part points out the reasons how fractals are useful and why they should be taught at school – fractals are fun; fractals are beautiful; anyone can play with them; fractals promote curiosity; computers, when used to explain fractal theory, enhance learning. The second part focuses on using Logo to generate fractals. It provides a few Logo programs of various complexity ranging from simple recursive functions to handling operations with complex numbers. Tutkielmassani tutkin koulukurin ilmiötä ja siihen liittyviä diskursseja opettajien kokemusten ja kertomusten pohjalta. Tutkimukseni tavoitteena oli ymmärtää paremmin koulukurin merkitystä suomalaisessa koulujärjestelmässä ja peruskoulun opettajan työssä. Ennen kaikkea halusin ymmärtää, miten koulukuri on ilmiönä muuttunut vuosikymmenten aikana ja minkälaiset diskurssit pohjustavat koulukurin ilmiön rakentumista ja muutosta. Lisäksi halusin ymmärtää, miten diskurssit ohjaavat sitä, miten koulukurista puhutaan. Lähes poikkeuksetta koulukuriin liittyvä tutkimus on viimeisten vuosikymmenten aikana tehty Suomessa työrauhan käsitteellä. 2010-luvun julkisen keskustelun ja asiakirjojen perusteella voidaan todeta, että koulukuri on noussut uudelleen työrauha käsitteen rinnalle, mutta vaikuttaa siltä, että kurin merkityksen tarkemmalle ja syvällisemmälle avaamiselle on tarvetta. Valitsin tutkimukseni osallistujiksi vähintään 25 vuotta opettajan työtä tehneet yhä vuonna 2016 työelämässä olevat opettajat. Tällöin heidän koulukuriin liittyvät kokemuksensa alkavat heidän omilta kouluajoiltaan jatkuen aina 2010-luvun kouluun. Tutkimusaineisto on kerätty kirjallisina kertomuksina neljältä peruskoulun opettajalta. Tutkimus rakentui fenomenologis-hermeneuttisista lähtökohdista, jolloin aineiston analyysin tuloksiksi muodostui kaksi mallia koulukurin ilmiöstä, toinen opettajien omilta kouluajoilta ja toinen 2010-luvun koulusta. Tulokset koulukurin muutoksesta osoittivat, että kurista puhutaan osana laajempia diskursseja, minkä myötä tutkimus syventyi diskurssin tutkimukseksi. Maailmansotien jälkeen rankaisevasta ja ulkoiseen vallankäyttöön perustuvasta kurinpidosta on siirrytty kohti tasa-arvoisempaa, sisäiseen ja omaehtoiseen hallintaan perustuvaa kuria. Nykyinen kurinpito määrittyy tasa-arvon pohjalta kiinnittäen päähuomionsa vallan ja vapauden jakautumiseen opettaja-oppilassuhteessa. Diskurssin muutoksen myötä koulun kurinpitoon syntyi uusia muotoja, jotka on jaoteltu opettajakeskeisiin, yhteisöllisiin ja oppilaskeskeisiin lähestymistapoihin. Opettajien omien kouluaikojen koulukurin malli, joka perustuu opettajan auktoriteettiin, epätasa-arvoiseen opettaja-oppilassuhteeseen, tiukkaan ja rankaisevaan kuriin sekä epäloogiseen kurinpitoon, sisältää lukuisia piirteitä opettajakeskeisestä lähestymistavasta sisältäen kuitenkin myös runsaasti vanhan kurin diskurssin mukaista ulkoista vallankäyttöä. 2010-luvun koulukurin malli, joka perustuu läheiseen ja tasa-arvoiseen opettaja-oppilassuhteeseen, kasvattavaan ja johdonmukaiseen kurinpitoon, keskusteluun, avoimuuteen ja yhteistyöhön sekä turvalliseen ilmapiiriin ja hyvään yhteishenkeen, rakentui yhteisöllisen ja oppilaskeskeisen lähestymistavan pohjalta edustaen hyvin uuden kurin diskurssin ihanteita, vaikka yhteistyön merkitys nousi opettajien kertomuksissa erityisellä tavalla esiin. Koulukurin malleista on nähtävissä myös, miten diskurssi ohjaa ilmiöön liittyviä puhetapoja. Nykyisen diskurssin alaisuudesta tulkittuna entisaikojen koulukurin malli määrittyi ongelmakohtien kautta. 2010-luvun koulukuri puolestaan määrittyi mahdollisuuksien kautta vallalla olevan diskurssin ihannekuvaksi. Lopulta koulukurin määrittelyyn avautui uudenlaisia näkökulmia sen osoittautuessa hyvin moniulotteiseksi ilmiöksi.

Vid hållplatser i städer finns ofta en busskur i glas med metallstomme. Tillsammans bildar de ett enhetligt uttryck i stadsbilden och bidrar till att resenärerna skyddas mot väder och vind. På landsbygden däremot är det glesare mellan kurerna och ofta ser de olika ut vid varje hållplats. För att nå det nationella mål med fördubblad kollektivtrafik fram till år 2020 kan en satsning för att skydda resenärerna vara på sin plats. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att utveckla en modern busskur för landsbygdsresenären som passar in i omgivningen. Kuren ska vara av trä och uppbyggt i delar som förenklar byggandet och minimerar byggtiderna. De metoder som tillämpats i arbetet är intervjuer, muntliga och skriftliga, en mindre enkätundersökning och en jämförelse mellan tre befintliga träkurer på landsbygden. Inspirationsbilder och litteraturstudier har också bidragit med idéer och kunskap. Resultatet av arbetet kom att bli fyra varianter av en modern kur i trä och stål, med influenser av nymodernism, inspirerad av fyra svenska landskap.

Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka vilken eller vilka undervisningsmetoder som passar elever inom SFI, svenskundervisning för invandrare, kurs B bäst så att de kan lära sig svenska bättre och fortare.   Metoder är att undersöka och intervjua två sfi lärare och sex elever inom SFI kurs B för att få svar på hur sfi lärare undervisar svenska och vad vuxna invandrare vill att sfi lärare gör för att hjälpa dem lära sig svenska bättre. Jag använder jämförande analys för att jämföra elevers åsikter om lärarens undervisning och diskutera vilka undervisningsmetoder som är bättre.   Resultatet har överensstämmelse med tidigare forskning. Tidigare forskning visar att undervisning borde planeras och utformas tillsammans med vuxna invandrare och anpassas till deras intresse, erfarenheter, kunskaper och långsiktiga mål. Skolans arbetssätt måste anpassas till elevernas ålder, mognad och innehållet. Den visar också att klassundervisning är bra.   Slutsatsen är att klassundervisning är bättre till början inom SFI kurs B. Lärare kan justera arbetssätt enligt elevers krav. Lärare och vuxna invandrare bör respekteras varandra. Lärare ber alltid elever att göra sitt bästa.

Magistro studijų baigiamąjį darbą sudaro: 62 puslapiai, 19 paveikslų, 11 lentelių, 48 literatūros šaltiniai, 3 priedai. Magistro darbe nagrinėjamos pagrindinės žemdirbių rėmimo formos Lietuvoje, didžiausią dėmesį skiriant žymėtam kurui, bei šios paramos reikšmingumui ir naudingumui žemdirbiams. Žymėtas dyzelinas (t.y. neapmokestinamas kuras) yra viena iš valstybės paramos rūšių ūkininkams, tačiau ne visi žemės ūkio veiklos subjektai efektyviai pasinaudoja šia parama. Tyrimo hipotezė: akcizo mokesčio netaikymas žemdirbių kurui nėra optimalus paramos būdas žemės ūkio veiklos subjektams, pasitvirtino. Paaiškėjo, kad ne visi žemės ūkio veiklos subjektai efektyviai pasinaudoja šia parama nes: tolimi atstumai iki degalinių didina šio kuro įsigijimo kaštus; ūkininkai neturi galimybių sandėliuoti šį kurą ir pan. Ūkininkai turintys nedidelius ūkius neišnaudoja viso jiems skirto žymėto kuro, o stambiems ūkininkams – jo nepakanka. Taip pat paaiškėjo, jog didelis degalinių antkainis žymėtam kurui mažina žemdirbių paramą. Taigi ši valstybės suteikiama nuolaida ūkininkams nėra tinkamiausia.
Final Master‘s Thesis consists of the following items: 62 pages, 19 figures, 11 tables, 48 literary sources, and 3 annexes. Master‘s thesis analyzes the main forms of support for agriculturalists in Lithuania and the greatest attention is being paid to the marked diesel fuel, and to importance and benefit of this support for the agriculturalists. Market diesel fuel (i.e. tax free fuel) is one of the forms of state support for the farmers but not all subjects of agricultural activity manage to use this support effectively. Research hypothesis that non-application of excise duty on the fuel for agriculturalists is not an optimal form of support for the subjects of agricultural activity was proved out. It was revealed that not all subjects of agricultural activity manage to use this support effectively as: long distances till fuel stations increase the costs on purchase of this fuel; farmers do not have possibilities to store this fuel and so on. The farmers who own small farms do not manage to use all market fuel which was assigned for them, and big farmers lack it. Also it was revealed that huge mark-up on marked diesel fuel decreases the support for agriculturalists. Therefore, this discount to farmers being granted by the state is not the most appropriate one.

Abstract:
This document is a master’s thesis analyzing an automated fuel pump management system. In the first chapters we take a general overview of the system and the main problems that we will be facing during the planning and design phases of the project. Later we propose and analyze possible solutions for these problems. Technical system information is revealed in the later chapters. Functional and non functional requirements are discussed along with the main UML diagrams. The research phase of the thesis provides detailed system analysis and software quality reports which later are used to create proposed changes to the system. These changes are analyzed, designed and coded in the final - experimental part of the thesis. The main proposal is to convert the system architecture from flow driven to event driven. This change helps to solve several uncovered architectural problems as well as improve the general quality of the system. These changes are tested and analyzed in the experimental chapter of the thesis and finally the conclusions are made. The main conclusion is that the proposed architectural changes were chosen correctly. This is also supported by the experimental data.

Pagrindiniai darbo uždaviniai: atskleisti organizacijos įvaizdžio sampratą, jį sąlygojančius veiksnius ir sudarančius elementus; išnagrinėti organizacijos įvaizdžio komunikacijos ypatumus; išanalizuoti tinklapių panaudojimo galimybes organizacijų įvaizdžiui kurti; taikant dokumentų turinio analizės metodą, nustatyti įvairių tipų bibliotekų tinklapių panaudojimo įvaizdžio kūrimui lygį. Naudojantis literatūros šaltinių analizės ir dokumentų turinio analizės metodais, buvo prieita prie išvados, kad autoriai organizacijos įvaizdį apibrėžia įvairiai. Esminis organizacijos įvaizdžio kūrimo tikslas – didinti organizacijos vertę visų jos tikslinių grupių atžvilgiu. Organizacijos įvaizdį lemia objektyvūs ir subjektyvūs veiksniai. Palankus organizacijos įvaizdis nėra atsitiktinis, organizacija turi jį kurti ir valdyti. Teigiamas organizacijos įvaizdis suteikia jai daugelį pranašumų. Išskirtinio įvaizdžio kūrimas organizacijoms tampa vis svarbesniu dėl nuolat didėjančios konkurencijos. Organizacija turi planingai ir kompleksiškai valdyti komunikaciją su savo tikslinėmis grupėmis pasitelkdama reikiamus įvaizdžio elementus. Daktaro disertacijoje sprendžiami trys uždaviniai. Pirmasis nagrinėja Minkovskio “klaustuko” funkcijos Stieltjes’o transformacijos (tai yra, šios funkcijos momentų generuojančios funkcijos, taip vadinamosios diadinės periodo funkcijos), analizines savybes ir jos išraišką uždara ar beveik uždara forma. Pagrindinis rezultatas teigia, kad diadinę periodo funkciją galima išreikšti racionaliųjų funkcijų su racionaliaisiais koeficientais konverguojančia eilute. Įrodyme naudojama kompleksinės dinamikos, analizinės grandininių trupmenų teorijos, kelių kompleksinių kintamųjų funkcijų teorijos technika. Antrasis uždavinys nagrinėja funkcines lygtis, susietas su norminėmis ir kitomis kelių kintamųjų formomis. Yra parodoma, kad šios funkcinės lygtys kartais turi kitų, netrivialiųjų sprendinių. Galiausiai, yra pateikiamas naujas mažosios Fermat teoremos įrodymas.
Doctoral thesis is devoted to investigation of three problems. The first one deals with the analytic properties and representation in closed or almost closed form of the Stieltjes tranform of the Minkowski question mark function (that is, the generating function of moments, the so called dyadic period function). The main result claims that the dyadic period function can be represented as a convergent series of rational functions with rational coefficients. In the proof the techniques from complex dynamics, analytic theory of continued fractions, the theory of several complex variables are being used. The second problem is dealing with functional equations associated with norm and other forms. It is shown that these functional equations sometimes have other solutions apart from the trivial ones. Finally, we present a new proof of Fermat’s little theorem.

Abstract:
In the existing literature on Kurt Schwitters, many excellent discoveries about process, materiality, and his life have been made. The careful reconstruction of these narratives by scholars such as Werner Schmalenbach, John Elderfield, Isabel Schulz, Gwendolen Webster, Marc Dachy, Roger Cardinal, Karin Orchard and Megan Luke, have given invaluable insights into the ways in which Schwitters' work has influenced and been integral to the development of the various avant-garde movements of the twentieth century. However, while these studies have laid the foundations to examine the biographical and aesthetic qualities of Schwitters' work, it has often denied readings that allow for an understanding of the political aspects which confront the viewer. Schwitters was the creator of Merz, a hybrid art form which borrowed from Expressionism, Dada, and Constructivism, but was never singularly committed to any of these movements/groups. Schwitters had had too much training to be a serious Expressionist, the movement denied academic and formal training, too bourgeois and not political enough for Dadaism, and not abstract or 'clean' enough to be considered a Constructivist. Merz was his and only his to be practiced and led him to be included in exhibitions of Dadaist, Constructivist and Surrealist artworks. His hybrid aesthetic, coupled with his own illusive remarks about his own practice, have produced readings of Schwitters' work as only concerned with aesthetics; in some cases entirely ignoring the implications and connotations of the compositions themselves and the meanings behind the fragments used in his works. The idea often floated is that once the fragment has been detached from its original form, it no longer holds its original meaning. However, my thesis seeks to argue that this is entirely untrue and that contemporary audiences would have been unable to ignore these connections. As such, the collage takes on new meanings and we, the audience, must examine these connotations. My thesis argues for a political reading of the works which feature women. Images of women, taken from fashion magazines and clothing catalogs, are cut up and re-arranged in Schwitters' abstract and hectic compositions. He then pairs these images with fragments of text, images of animals, or in odd compositions which causes a significant shift in perspective for the viewer. In most cases, these pairings are paradoxical or presented so that the two components juxtapose one another. My thesis argues that these works might be discussed in the context of the social and political goings on in the world in which Schwitters creates his artworks. This approach to his work has heretofore remained unexplored and as I show in my research by examining these images, new and revealing details about the artist's work are uncovered.

Abstract:
The health of the environment is integral to the health and wellbeing of the people. When the balance between Atua, whenua and tangata is disrupted, desecrated, disturbed or violated, it can have a detrimental impact on these relationships. This research study explored alternative indigenous paradigms for conceptualizing an environmental health framework that would improve the potency and health of all living things. A key question of the research study was to explore how Ngati Kuri sought to strengthen their relationship and connection with the natural world. The Hapu established Te Tai O Marokura health and social services as a vehicle to improve potency: healthy environments, healthy people. The specificity of Ngati Kuri experiences provided a broader context for researching and theorizing about restorative models that utilized traditional knowledge localized to a particular area. Another key question was to examine how Maori cultural values that were embedded within a worldview, could offer insights and constructs for new ways of being and thinking in the modern world. Kaupapa Maori philosophical positioning and theorizing informed the approaches and practices underpinning the study. The key aspects of the methodology were constructed around the tikanga principles of tinorangatiratanga, whakapapa and kaitiakitanga to provide a rationale for the collaboration formed with the Hapu. At the heart of the thesis is the validity given to the collective ownership of indigenous knowledge which challenges the fictional notion of a singular, temporally bound authorship. The thesis reflects the whakawhanaungatanga (reciprocal understanding) relationship between the Tuakana represented by Miriama Kahu and the Teina, Benita Wakefield working collaboratively with the Kaitiaki construct group formed to ensure that the use of indigenous knowledge and its transmission processes had honest transparency. The Tuakana was responsible for providing guidance, wisdom and mentoring to the Teina, the enrolled academic student responsible for producing the written thesis. These innovative collaborative Kaupapa Maori methods and practices in the study have tested the boundaries of conventional doctoral processes, breaking university academic regulations and challenging the western academy in the political nature of collective knowledge production and validity of indigenous knowledge. Qualitative and quantitative processes, approaches and methods were also utilized to inform the study and to ensure reflexivity of research practices. The key findings of the study were: • Improving potency requires a depth of intimacy and connection with all living things that involves a reciprocal understanding of the relationship between Atua, whenua and tangata. • Indigenous knowledge is localized to a spatial area and embedded within a worldview that validates and affirms cultural values and beliefs which continue to have relevance in more contemporary times. • The transformative nature of alternative indigenous paradigms must encompass the totality of creation, humanity and their genealogical and inter-generational linkages to all life. A major contribution of this PhD has been to create new knowledge, ways of thinking and meaning for restoring potency through the environmental health conceptual framework grounded in cultural and spiritual values. The specific focus on Ngati Kuri traditional knowledge authentic to the Hapu and their application, has significantly contributed towards constructing alternative indigenous approaches for meeting the challenges within the modern world.
