Partendo dall’importante e più antico kouros arcaico rinvenuto a Megara Hyblaea, la ricerca mira ad un'analisi stilica complessiva della scultura arcaica in marmo siceliota. Attraverso un tipo di ricerca a tappe geografiche dall'oriente all'occidente della Sicilia greca, si dimostrerà come peculiari siano le soluzioni artistiche sperimentate in ogni singola polis. Il periodo di sviluppo artistico preso in considerazione si fermerà al c.d. Guerriero di Agrigento.

Abstract:

Enclave européenne en Amérique latine, la Guyane se distingue sur le continent par une colonisation non-ibérique. Son armature urbaine est linéaire, les urbanisations n'offrent aucunes limites franches, laissant un hinterland vide. Dans ce département français dont l'économie est artificielle et les réseaux limités, les villes sont sous tutelle du chef-lieu. Une conurbation s'est formée autour de Cayenne offrant, grâce aux retombées des industries spatiales, un embryon de métropole française. La société guyanaise est une mosaïque ethnique née de l'immigration où chaque groupe se réclame d'un mode d'habiter et de ses spécificités culturelles. Se pose dans cette région dont le sol est presque entièrement la propriété de l'Etat français, la question du logement et de sa carence : vaste pays où opérateurs, collectivités et particuliers ne trouvent pas de parcelles à bâtir, sauf à Kourou qui a bénéficié d'une programmation urbaine. L'habitat spontané s'épanouit donc aux côtés de l'habitat d'ordonnance et constitue le creuset de la ville informelle. Son dynamisme prouve la capacité des populations à réaliser leur logement et à engendrer leur économie. Insuffisamment exploitées, les tentatives de résorption d'habitat insalubre en Guyane constituent une piste originale permettant de diminuer le chômage par l'auto-construction de maisons particulières. S'il existe en Guyane des éventualités de réaliser son habitat à sa façon, non sans difficultés ni risque social, elles peuvent être des exemples pour d'autres métropoles
French Guiana, a European enclave in Latin America, is one of the three countries on the continent that experienced non-Iberian colonisation. Its urban framework is linear with urbanisations that present no distinct limits, leaving an empty hinterland. In this French overseas department with an artificial economy and limited networks, the cities are dominated by the capital, Cayenne. A conurbation has formed around Cayenne which, thanks to the economic benefits derived from the space industries, resembles an embryonic French metropolis. French Guianese society is an ethnic mosaic born of immigration, where each group maintains its living style and cultural specificities. In this region where practically all land is the property of the French state, the issue of inadequate housing is raised: in this vast country, developers, municipalities and regional bodies, and private citizens cannot find buildable lots, except in Kourou, which has benefited from urban planning. Therefore, spontaneous housing flourishes side by side with authorised housing and constitutes the melting pot of the informal city. Its vitality is proof of the populations' ability to create their housing and their economy. Although insufficiently exploited, attempts to rehabilitate unsanitary housing in French Guiana represent an original solution leading to a decrease in unemployment through self-building of private houses. If possibilities exist in French Guiana for populations to create their own housing as they see fit, albeit not without difficulty or social risk, they can serve as an example to other metropolises

En 1763, le duc de Choiseul voulu créer une colonie blanche et libre en Guyane française, et recruta près de 15 000 colons, originaires de Rhénanie Palatinat pour la plupart et placés sous l'égide du chevalier Turgot, frère aîné de l'intendant du Limousin, et de Thibault de Chanvalon, créole de Martinique nommé intendant. L'entreprise se solde par la mort de la plupart des familles envoyées, des suites d'une épidémie et par un scandale d’État. Cette expédition montre à travers l'échec tragique d'un projet colonial inspiré des Lumières ce que fut la prise de décision politique sous Choiseul dans le contexte particulier de la guerre de Sept ans, s'attache d'autre part aux modes de fonctionnement administratifs de la France de la seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle et dresse enfin la chronique d'une irresponsabilité politique. Cette thèse s'articule selon trois directions: 1. Mesurer la réaction française à la guerre de Sept ans dès les années 1760. Cette réaction montre les réseaux, le travail du bureau des colonies, les hommes sur lesquels le gouvernement s'appuient. Ces hommes, Académiciens, physiocrates, ou créoles montrent à quel point ils sont des individualités parfois utilisées les unes contre les autres, et on entre dans la monarchie des Lumières. 2. Etudier la liste des colons, les modes de recrutement, et dessiner une étude précise de la sociologie des migrants et des modalités de circulation dans l'Europe de l'Ancien Régime. 3. A travers le procès intenté contre l'intendant à Cayenne, la formation d'une commission extraordinaire du Conseil, et la tentative avortée du Parlement de Paris de s'emparer de l'affaire, la question d'une affaire est enfin posée
Ln 1763, the duke of Choiseul wished to create a white and free colony in French Guyana, and for doing this, he recruited close to 15,000 settlers, who were natives of the Rhénanie Palatinat for the most part and who were placed under the stewardship of the knight Turgot, the elder brother of the district administrator of Limousin, and Thibault de Chanvalon, a Creole from Martinique appointed as the district administrator of Guyana. This enterprise ended in the demise of most of the families sent in the aftermath of an epidemic and in a State scandaI. This original investigation is dispatched three directions: 1 The idea is to mesure the French reaction to the Seven Year War right from the 1760s. This reaction is an indicator of the networks, the administrative work of the colonies, the men on whom the government relies. Secondly, for the first time ever, a precise study of the sociology of the migrants and the modalities of travel in the Europe of the Ancien Regime shapes up with the list of the settlers, the modes of recruitment, etc. Last but not the least, through the legal proceedings instituted against the district administrator at Cayenne, the formation of an extraordinary commission of the Council, and the abortive attempt of the Parliament of Paris to take hold of the matter, It deals with the political and judicial networks which come into play through an «affair» a «scandal» which does not prove to be successful

Abstract:

Au début de l’âge du Fer chypriote, la nouvelle topographie qui marque l’île est représentée par des sites identifiés notamment grâce à la découverte de nécropoles, alors que la mise au jour des contextes d’habitat et de sanctuaires fait défaut. À ce déséquilibre de la documentation s’ajoute l’absence de sources écrites, ce qui rend difficile l’appréhension des contextes culturel et historique de l’époque chypro-géométrique. Cela n’est cependant pas le cas pour la période chypro-archaïque : les inscriptions royales assyriennes nous renseignent que l’île était divisée en royaumes dont l’existence est également corroborée par d’autres manifestations culturelles. Dans ce cadre s’insère l’étude de vastes assemblages céramiques, qui constituent par ailleurs la donnée archéologique la plus abondante, provenant des contextes funéraires à l’échelle de l’île (Paphos, Kourion, Amathonte, Kition, Lapithos, Kythrea, Alaas, Salamine) dans le but d’identifier l’existence d’ateliers régionaux. Grâce à l’étude de l’artisanat céramique à un niveau micro-spatial et pour une chronologie qui s’étend approximativement du XIe au VIIIe s. av. J.-C., la présente recherche parvient à définir des identités culturelles régionales et à proposer une révision du système typo-chronologique de l’époque Chypro-géométrique. Dans un dernier temps, elle fournit de nouveaux éléments sur la géographie politique de l’île et les relations entre les divers sites durant l’époque Chypro-géométrique, contribuant en même temps à approcher les processus de la consolidation des royaumes de l’époque Chypro-archaïque
Cyprus at the inception of the Early Iron Age is known almost exclusively through sites of a mortuary character; settlement and sanctuary contexts are practically absent. In addition, the absence of written sources for the Cypro-Geometric period obstructs the understanding of the historical and cultural contexts for this horizon. This is not the case for the subsequent Cypro-Archaic period, when the existence of the Cypriot kingdoms is attested by royal Assyrian inscriptions and other manifestations in the archaeological record of the island. Within this framework, the present research examines the pottery assemblages from island-wide mortuary contexts of the Cypro-Geometric period (Paphos, Kourion, Amathous, Kition, Lapithos, Kythrea, Alaas, Salamis), in order to determine the operation of regional workshops. Ceramic remains constitute the most abundant and informative evidence for this period. Through the study of site-specific pottery production ranging from the 11th to the 8th centuries BC, this dissertation achieved the definition of regional cultural identities and proposes a revision of the traditional typo-chronological system of the Cypro-Geometric period. Finally, the present study provides new evidence for the political geography of Cyprus and the relations among the Cypro-Geometric polities. Simultaneously, a substantial contribution is provided for the understanding of the processes that led to the consolidation of the kingdoms during the Archaic period

Abstract:

L'objet est le centre du sujet de l'anthropologie de l'art africain. Son étude jusqu'ici a surtout été le fait d'ethnologues et d'esthéticiens; on connait leur querelle qui dure encore. L'anthropologie de l'art peut apporter un regard neuf à partir de ce que l'objet physique donne à voir. L'imaginaire du sculpteur se développe à l'intérieur de codes imposés par la tradition, qu'il transmet à l'œuvre. Ces signaux visibles, d'origines différentes, sont à décoder; plusieurs approches sont donc nécessaires. Une fois la typologie et la norme définies, l'étude des bois permet parfois une localisation très précise. L'historien par les migrations déterminera les groupes mis en contact, l'ethnologue par les filiations, le linguiste par l'origine des mots, la lecture des scarifications à traduire comme des hiéroglyphes, la tradition orale par les survivances des croyances et des mythes. . . Corroboreront trace migratoire et éléments de culture communs. Des travaux encore très isolés sont faits dans ce sens en linguistique, en ethnologie. Dans notre thèse, après l'étude ethno-morphologique des objets Kouyou Mbochi et celle des parcours migratoires, nous avons essayé de montrer la permanence des survivances culturelles dans les groupes qu'ils avaient pu rencontrer: langue, scarifications, traditions orales, mais aussi forme des cases, des armes, utilisation de la monnaie. . . Il faut maintenant désenclaver l'art de chaque groupe pour découvrir des aires culturelles, mais pour cela, des études interdisciplinaires sont indispensables.

Abstract:

Evidence suggests that principals' practices influence student achievement. The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine the beliefs elementary school principals in the mid-Atlantic United States had about which leadership practices have been instrumental in reducing the achievement gap between economically-disadvantaged students and all other students at their schools. The leadership model that Kouzes and Posner developed, which identified 5 practices of exemplary leaders, served as the conceptual framework for this study. Eleven principals who were leaders at schools where the achievement gap in reading had been reduced compared with the state average were interviewed. A combination of a priori and open coding was used to support thematic analysis. Six leadership practices, aligned with transformational and instructional leadership practices, were identified as influencing student achievement positively. The participants indicated the importance of leading by example and developing positive relationships with all stakeholders and communicating and inspiring all stakeholders with their vision for their schools, believed in shared decision making and developing teacher leaders, and understood the value of risk-taking and innovation along with a strong instructional focus. The results of this study add to the research supporting the influence that principals have on student achievement by identifying practices principals could implement at their schools to increase student achievement. It is recommended that school division personnel and principal preparation program personnel use these results to inform their training programs and school improvement initiatives. Positive social change may occur when principals implement these 6 practices at their own schools, thereby increasing the reading achievement of economically-disadvantaged students.

Abstract:

Student affairs professionals in higher education are expected to provide leadership in many ways on their campuses. Obtaining a more complete picture of the leadership characteristics of the profession is therefore important in informing those in the profession who provide continuing professional development programming and for those who teach in graduate student affairs programs. The purpose of this quantitative research study was to determine whether there were differences in the perceived leadership practices of student affairs professionals when analyzed by the independent variables of race, gender, level of current position, age, and highest degree earned. The instrument used in this survey was the Leadership Practices Inventory-Self (LPI-Self) originally developed by Kouzes and Posner (1988) and updated in 2003. The LPI contains 30 statements, organized into five subscales, describing behaviors rated on a 10-point Likert-type scale. The five subscales are Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart. The instrument measures an individual's perceived use of the different behaviors in each leadership practice. An email was sent to 2,807 student affairs professionals in the Southern Region (Region III) of NASPA containing an invitation to participate in this study. A total of 713 surveys were completed for an overall response rate of 25.4%. A significant statistical difference was found in the leadership practice Encourage the Heart for race. Black student affairs professionals' perceptions of their leadership practice of Encourage the Heart were statistically significantly higher than their Hispanic and White counterparts. In addition, a significant statistical difference was found for the independent variable level of current position where senior-level student affairs professionals scored statistically higher than mid- and entry-level professionals. Furthermore, for the independent variable highest degree earned, student affairs professionals with doctoral degrees scored significantly higher on all five leadership practices than student affairs professionals with masters' or bachelors' degrees. However, no significant differences were found between student affairs professionals with bachelors' or a masters' degrees. This study supports the idea that leadership development may be enhanced through experience and graduate work which results in obtaining a doctorate. The findings also suggest that student affairs professionals in mid- and entry- positions may benefit from development and pre-service programs where the leadership practice inventory is administered and professionals are made aware of their leadership practices .

Esta dissertação revisa a literatura acadêmica existente sobre a teoria de opções utilizando os modelos de precificação com saltos. Os conceitos foram equalizados, a nomenclatura foi padronizada, sendo gerado um material de referência sobre o assunto. O pressuposto de lognormalidade com volatilidade constante não é aceito pelo mercado financeiro. É freqüente, no meio acadêmico, a busca de modelos que reproduzam os fenômenos observados de leptocurtose ou assimetria dos log-retornos financeiros e que possuam a mesma robustez e facilidade para manipulação analítica do consagrado modelo de Black-Scholes. Os modelos com saltos são uma alternativa para esse problema. Avaliou-se o modelo de Kou no mercado acionário brasileiro composto por um componente de difusão que segue um movimento browniano geométrico e um componente de saltos que segue um processo de Poisson com intensidade do salto descrito por uma distribuição duplamente exponencial. A simulação histórica do modelo aponta, em geral, uma superioridade preditiva do modelo, porém as dificuldades de calibração dos parâmetros e de hedge em mercados incompletos são as principais deficiências para o uso dos modelos com saltos.
This master dissertation reviews the academic literature about option pricing and hedging with jumps. The theory was equalized and the notation was standardized, becoming this document a reference document about this subject. The log-normality with constant volatility is not accepted by the market. Academics search consistent models with the same analytical capabilities like Black-Scholes? model which can support the observed leptokurtosis or asymmetry of the financial daily log-returns behavior. The jump models are an alternative to these issues. The Kou?s model was evaluated and this one consists of two parts: the first part being continuous and following a geometric Brownian motion and the second being a jump process with its jump intensity defined by a double exponential distribution. The model backtesting showed a better predictive performance of the Kou´s model against other models. However, there are some handicaps regarding to the parameters calibration and hedging.

Abstract:

A study in the Lower North Island located Parenephrops planifrons (koura) at 73 sites out of 104 sites visited (appendix 1). There was a significant difference in habitat variables between the sites which had koura present and those where they were absent. Examples of sites are shown in Appendix 3. Habitat variables important for classifying koura habitat included riparian cover, predators, winter equilibrium temperature and presence of in-stream habitat in the form of vegetation, litter cover and the stream sequence composition. Regression trees built could accurately describe the data but the kappa statistic was low.

Education for girls in Taiwan was officially started after the Kokugo Daiichi Gakkou Fuzoku Joshi Bunkyojo (the First Japanese Language School Girls’ Brunch) was established by the Government-general of Taiwan at Shi-Ling in 1897. At that time, it was difficult to recruit students to the newly opened girls’ school. In order to appeal the importance and excellence of education in the school, art works made by the students were displayed at exhibitions. Therefore, it is safe to say that, in the first stage of girls’ education in Taiwan, the art education in school served as a bridge between Taiwan’s traditional families and modern education in Taiwan. In the girls’ school in Taiwan, a traditional art education handed down form Chinese Shin era was a center of school curriculum before 1910s. However, after the late of 1930s, a Western dressmaking also started to be included in the school curriculum. After Japan-China War in 1937, since imperial curriculum was imposed, students had to spend more time on making Western clothes as well as traditional Japanese kimono. During the Japanese colonial period, students in Daisan Koutou Jogakkou (The Third Girls’ High-School in Taiwan) were role models for most of the Taiwanese girls. In this study, both what the real purposes of education in modern girls’ schools established by the Government-general of Taiwan during Japanese colonial era were, and how those purposes were realized through the school curriculum in Daisan Koutou Jogakkou, are discussed focusing on the school curriculum and educational contents of Dsaisan Koutou Jogakkou at that period, especially the art education in the school.

This study focuses on the historical phenomenon that authorities repeatedly emphasized that nationals practiced “physique improvement (Taii-Koujou)” in late Japanese colonial Taiwan (1937-1945). Its purposes are to explore the forms of physical education, sport and physical activities, as well as to analyze the body practice and governance during that period. The perspective of genealogy and governmentality from Michel Foucault (1926-1984) is applied in this paper. The result shows that Japan led the authoritative body governance included the construction of knowledge, disposition of activity, examination and management of bodies, speedily promoting public hygiene knowledge and technology to permeate through the Colonial Taiwan. In the early stage of Sino-Japanese war, competitive sports for entertainment and self-actualization were still encouraged. Then, authorities increased the physical activities such as gymnastics, walk/hike, (generalized) martial arts, and practical national defense sports, mandatory and production increased works. However, whether the Taiwanese identified with the ideal lifestyle which consisted of “health, labor, and public duty” or not, they did not entirely accept the body governance arranged by the colonial official. The meaning of “the dream of empire” was different to everyone, it not only influenced physical practice of contemporary, but also deserved the future research areas of concern.

De entre os diversos patamares da administração e da organização escolar, o campo da gestão e da liderança destacou-se como um dos mais dilemáticos e controversos no atual contexto das políticas educativas, justamente por representar o espaço onde se disputam e entrecruzam, por um lado, os valores da cidadania e da participação democrática, e, por outro lado, os valores da gestão e da eficácia técnica. Esta investigação teve como principal objetivo caracterizar e identificar as práticas de liderança utilizadas pelos/as Diretores/as das Escolas Públicas da Zona Centro de Portugal, segundo o modelo desenvolvido por Kouzes e Posner. No enquadramento teórico do nosso estudo efetuou-se uma revisão da problemática das lideranças, com ênfase nas organizações escolares, assim como a liderança na perspetiva da Avaliação Externa das Escolas. Aprofundou-se também a análise da liderança no contexto normativo educacional Português, através do estudo da legislação existente desde 1974 (período após a Revolução de Abril, em Portugal). A análise dos dados recolhidos demonstrou que a prática de liderança mais utilizada pelos/as Diretores/as das Escolas Públicas da Zona Centro de Portugal foi “Permitir que os outros ajam”. Por outro lado, a prática que apresentou valores mais baixos foi “Inspirar uma visão conjunta”. Para todas as variáveis (género, tipo de estabelecimento, experiência no cargo, idade, formação especializada), a prática de liderança com valores mais elevados foi “Permitir que os outros ajam”, exceto nas categorias “Escola Não Agrupada” e “Escolas que não foram alvo de Avaliação Externa”. Nestas duas últimas categorias, “Encorajar a vontade” foi a prática que apresentou as médias mais elevadas. Verificaram-se diferenças significativas na prática de liderança “Mostrar o caminho”, no que ao género feminino diz respeito. Os/AS Diretores/as do nosso estudo entendem a escola de hoje como tendo, primordialmente, uma função social e que a sua missão é fomentar a colaboração através da criação de um clima positivo dentro das organizações que lideram. Relativamente ao impacto da Avaliação Externa das Escolas na sua atuação enquanto líderes de topo das Unidades Orgânicas, a dimensão que foi entendida como mais significativa para eles na sua prática de liderança foi “Desafiar o processo”.
Among the various levels of administration and school organization, the field of management and leadership stood out as one of the most dilemmatic and controversial in the current context of educational policies precisely because it represents the space where, on the one hand, values of citizenship and democratic participation and, on the other hand, values of management and technical effectiveness compete and intersect themselves. The main objective of this research was to characterize and identify the leadership practices used by the Directors of the Public Schools of the Central Zone of Portugal according to the model developed by Kouzes and Posner. In the theoretical framework of our study it was carried out a review of the leadership problem, with emphasis on school organizations, as well as leadership in the perspective of the External Evaluation of Schools. It was also carried out an exhaustive analysis of leadership in the Portuguese educational normative context through the study of the legislation since 1974 (period after the April Revolution in Portugal). The analysis of the collected data showed that the leadership practice most used by the Directors of the Public Schools of the Central Zone of Portugal was "Allow others to act". On the other hand, the practice "Inspiring a joint vision" presented the lowest values. For all variables (gender, type of establishment, experience in the position, age, specialized training), the leadership practice with higher values was "Allow others to act", except in the categories "Non-grouped School" and "Schools that were not subjected to an External Evaluation". The practice presenting the highest averages in the latter two categories was "Encouraging the will". Significant differences were observed in the leadership practice "Show the way" in what refers to the feminine gender. The Directors of our study believe that today's school has primarily a social function and that their mission is to foment collaboration by creating a positive environment within the organizations they lead. Regarding the impact of the External Evaluation of Schools in their performance as top leaders of the Organic Units, the dimension that was recognized as most significant to them in their leadership practice was "Challenging the process".
