Abstract:
Stolen var historiskt en statusmarkör i både kyrklig och profan miljö, där utseende och material talade sitt tydliga språk. Idag är situationen annorlunda och stolens ställning förändrad. Som kyrklig föremålsgrupp är den relativt outforskad vilket var en bidragande faktor till det här arbetet. För att öka förståelsen har dess historiska status och användningsområden belysts, vilket kan påverka stolens bevarande. Studien bygger på resultaten från genomförda inventeringar i de fem sockenkyrkorna i Västra Storsjöbygdens församling, Jämtland. Här återfanns en rik mängd stolsmodeller och kring de prydligaste stolarna i vardera kyrka söktes fakta kring proveniens, resultaten varierade beroende på inventarieförteckningarnas innehåll. Stolens självklara roll som statussymbol har idag gått förlorad men faktumet att kyrkorna fortfarande placerar finare stolar mer centralt kvarstår. Nu spelar funktionaliteten en högre roll än statusmarkering och äldre kyrkliga stolsmodeller är sällsynta.

Abstract:
My project takes place in Korsten four kilometers north of central Port Elizabeth. Korsten is today known as the industrial center of the city and provides job opportunities throughout the whole region. Central Korsten contains the biggest informal market within Port Elizabeth; it is also functioning as a nodal interchange where buses and minibus taxis provide transport within the city as well as nationwide. In 2010 major changes in the transport system will take place as a part of the 2010 world cup program. The city introduces the new Bus rapid transit system, a transportation system based on trunk buses complimented with minibus taxis. Introducing a new bus-system to Korsten will be a great challenge especially concerning Korstens informal identity and tradition. The informal economy is today an integral part of the South African economy and something that most South Africans come in contact with on daily bases. But it is an economy and movement not measurable or regulated by the government. The informal economy got its own rules and traditions and it flourishes in Korsten. It creates job opportunities as well as a possibility to buy everyday goods to a reasonable price, but it also contributes to a hectic and unstructured environment which gives a chaotic impression. This dissertation highlights the informal tradition and its possibility to be an integral part of the modern Korsten. It investigates the meaning of the public space and what role it plays in our cities and how it can be implemented in Korsten.

Abstract:
This study centres on interdisciplinary notions of 'place’ (and its structures), the attachment to place, their ordinary and everyday potential heritage resources and the value of nostalgia as a method for engaging with these marginal heritages. The case is a set of values of a group of past users of a series of entertainment structures in Korsten, Port Elizabeth, from 1956 to 1990. Their everyday experience of living in Korsten, together with the trauma of displacement (as a consequence of forced removals) and the nostalgia associated with the joy of an 'era of entertainment’ they experienced as young adults in new structures such as grand cinemas and dance halls, is central to addressing the argument of this study. Three themes were explored through interviews with eight people. These were: the user experience, responses to nostalgia and the nature of the potential heritage resource. The interviews were initiated by open-ended questions that allowed for diversion and storytelling.

Denna undersökning är en komparativ studie av olika läromedel i historia mellan åren 1912

oeh 2003. J undersökningens syfte ingår ett "vi" mot "dem" perspektiv. Det undersökningen

försöker belysa är om det över tiden skett förändringar i läromedelsböekerna utifrån "vi" oeh

"dem" perspektivet oeh i anknytning till en identitetsbildning. Angående det didaktiska

perspektivet innefattar det historiemedvetande oeh identitetsbildning. Enligt det didaktiska

perspektivet är det viktigt att det finns en samstämmighet mellan framställningen i läromedlen

och elevernas egen inhämtade kunskap utanför skolan. Almars finns det risk att eleverna anser

att historia inte angår dem. Resultatet visar på att även om en förändring skett över tiden i

läroböckerna angående "vi" och "dem". Kan det vara svårt att göra en identitetsbildning, i alla

fall i dc senare årens läromedelböcker på grund av att de har blivit mer generella.

Abstract:
The initiative of land restitution in South Africa was an advantage to some people who were forcibly removed from Korsten area, which was a mixed residential area and the only area in Port Elizabeth where Black people had freehold tenure rights. The intention of the South African land reform programme which is to restore land and transform socio-economic relations has been achieved by means of land restitution. Successful Korsten land claimants have been granted land in Fairview through the land restitution programme. The successful resolution of land claims has shown the democracy and development in the country of South Africa.

Abstract:
I have in this essay focused on the attitude towards the medieval muslims in swedish textbooks, in the subject of history from the years between 1954 and 2012. I have made an analysis on the discourse in the books and what they says about the muslims who lived before 1500 AD. The theory I have is a Postcolonial one from the authors Edward Said, Ania Loomba and Leela Gandhi. I have also analyzed the rhetorics the authors have used in every textbook. The results I have identified is that the attitude towards the muslims have changed during the years, from a generalizing view that says that the muslims were driven by the religion and that they were different from the Christian European society that existed during the same time. During the years the attitude changed to be more objective and don´t focus so much on the religion as a power over the will of the people and more towards economic and political reasons for the expansion during the 7th and 8th century. The religious tolerance towards Jews and Christians during the islamic reign in the Middle East is presented and is mentioned in most of the books during all of the decades. My conclusions according to the theory is that the change in the attitude can be a result of a higher level of knowledge about the medieval muslims and a decrease in how much the postcolonial theory have influenced the authors.

Abstract Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka vilken eller vilka orsaker till det första korståget som olika nutida författare framställer som de mest centrala samt att fundera över varför de olika författarna skiljer sig åt. De ta görs genom en litteraturstudie där fyra nutida författare används. Dessa författare är Christopher Tyerman, Andrew Wheatcroft, Dick Harrison och Sören Wibeck. Varje författare presenteras separat och de orsaker som han lägger fram som de mest centrala beskriv. Resultatet av denna uppsats visar att de orsaker som olika författare tar upp som de mest centrala bakom det först korståget skiljer sig åt beroende på hur författaren inriktat sin bok. De orsaker som togs upp av de fyra författarna var följande. Investiturstriden, Seldjukernas expansion, Al-Hakims härjningar, Peter Eremitens predikningar, svält och fattigdom i Europa samt befolkningens missnöje med att det var osäkert längs pilgrimslederna till paradisstaden Jerusalem.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to present a critical analysis of how certain themes of the Norse pagan religion are portrayed in ten selected textbooks used for Religious Science education in grades one through nine. The themes included in the analysis are; the description of the transition from the Norse Pagan religion to Christianity; Adam of Bremen’s portrayal of human sacrifice, and lastly Ibn Fadhlan’s characterization of widow burning. By using a critical knowledge text analysis, and applying a theoretical starting point that pedagogical material analyses and interprets events from a specific perspective; in this case from a Christian perspective, I have from the study concluded that the chapters covering the Norse pagan religion in these textbooks have a distinguished Christian bias seen as the norm. The themes analysed in this study all describe different phenomena in a similar way and make use of the same sources, even though these are often questioned. The Christian religion is delegated a prominent role whereas the Norse pagan religion is portrayed as it’s opposite, undeveloped and barbaric.

Abstract:
Korstågen har haft stor inverkan på världshistorien. De stora krigshärarna som drog ut i strid i främmande områden lämnade ett blodigt spår efter sig där de drog fram i Mellanöstern, Baltikum, Spanien såväl som i södra Frankrike. Korstågen gestaltar dessutom det kontroversiella ämnet om relationen mellan religion och politik som har genomsyrat historien och som är av lika stor vikt i modern tid. Korstågen har därför en särskild plats inom historievetenskap, fiktion såväl som modern politisk agenda. Denna studie ämnar lyfta fram användandet av Gud och religiösa uttryck i påvliga brev mellan 1145 och 1215 för att, genom en adaptering av Foucaults diskurs- samt maktanalys, påvisa hur makt användes genom religiösa uttryck och vad Foucault kallar för pastoral makt. Syftet med denna studie är att skapa en större förståelse för religiöst inflytande under medeltiden samt hur den religiösa makten manifesterades i påvliga brev.
