Abstract:
In January 2021 during a scientific survey to assess the economic impacts of a Mass Mortality Event, a single individual of the Gracile lizardfish Saurida gracilis (Quoy & Gaimard, 1824) was caught out of Korbous (Northern Tunisia). This observation, confirmed by genetic analysis, provides evidence on the occurrence of a new non-indigenous species in Mediterranean waters. The relevance of this finding for the current monitoring strategies implemented at the regional level are briefly raised and discussed.

Abstract:
Several strains of sulfate-reducing bacteria were isolated from marine sediments recovered near Tunis, Korbous and Bizerte, Tunisia. They all showed characteristics consistent with members of the genus Desulfovibrio. One of these strains, designated MB3T, was characterized further. Cells of strain MB3T were slender, curved, vibrio-shaped, motile, Gram-negative, non-spore-forming rods. They were positive for desulfoviridin as bisulfite reductase. Strain MB3T grew at temperatures of 15–45 °C (optimum 40 °C) and at pH 6.0–8.1 (optimum pH 7.0). NaCl was required for growth (optimum 20 g NaCl l−1). Strain MB3T utilized H2 in the presence of acetate with sulfate as electron acceptor. It also utilized lactate, ethanol, pyruvate, malate, fumarate, succinate, butanol and propanol as electron donors. Lactate was oxidized incompletely to acetate. Strain MB3T fermented pyruvate and fumarate (poorly). Electron acceptors utilized included sulfate, sulfite, thiosulfate, elemental sulfur and fumarate, but not nitrate or nitrite. The G+C content of the genomic DNA was 51 mol%. On the basis of genotypic, phenotypic and phylogenetic characteristics, strain MB3T (=DSM 18034T=NCIMB 14199T) is proposed as the type strain of a novel species, Desulfovibrio bizertensis sp. nov.

Abstract:
The paper reports the appearance of a new crater lake on the Ebeko volcano. There has been no thermal lake within the Northern Crater since mid-2006. The last eruption began on October 19, 2016 and ended on November 19, 2021. The pyroclastic cone of the new crater, which was named Korbut Crater, rose within the Northern Crater. There was strong fumarolic activity in the Korbut crater, which persists today. The lake in the still erupting Korbut crater was first recorded by the authors on a satellite image from September 17, 2021; already on a satellite image from September 25, the crater was dry again. After the end of the Ebeko eruption, due to the intensive flow of fluid with bottom fumaroles and due to a large amount of meteoric precipitation, a lake was formed in the Korbut crater (Sentinel 2 satellite data of December 11, 2021). In January 2022, the authors examined the Korbut crater: the diameters of the lake were 61 and 80 m (latitude and meridian, respectively), the mirror area was 4.5 thousand m2, and water temperature was 43°C. A brief literature review of the existence of thermal lakes on the northern flank of the Ebeko volcano is given.

Abstract:
Życiorysy sławnych Polaków to mniej znane dzieło Adama Naruszewicza, w skład którego wchodzi kilkanaście biogramów wybitnych przedstawicieli polskiego oświecenia.

Abstract:
The article points to meaningful contribution of Vilnian press to promotion of publishing production in the second half o 18-th century. Author shows the influence of periodicals on social reception based on analysis of the bookselling announcements located in the longest-running title on the Lithuanian market, i.e. „Gazety Wileńskie” („Vilnian Newspapers”) with attached „Suplementy” („Supplements”), issued by academic press. Review of the source material shows the presence of the announcemnts from many publishing houses, among them also from abroad. The diversity can be observed in the register of titles advertised this way, involving both numerous handbooks including knowledge across various disciplines and the works of eminent representatives of European Enlightenment.thought. The list of publications mentioned in press announcements repeatedly supplements the well known bibliographic summaries as Bibliografia literatury polskiej „Nowy Korbut” or Bibliografia polska by K. Estreicher.

Abstract:
This chapter demonstrates how the Cold War provided for moments of collaboration in gymnastics, at all levels of participation. Eastern bloc gymnasts like Olga Korbut and Nadia Comăneci became celebrities around the world, launching tours that their governments used to promote their regimes. The gymnasts engaged in citizen diplomacy, using bodily discourses to share cultural traditions like ballet and circus. While on tour, they were also exposed to US values through cultural infiltration. They met with President Nixon to demonstrate the friendship between East and West, a symbol of goodwill that preceded official political talks. But by 1980, the significance of sport as a form of soft power led to the Olympic boycotts. Yet even these ultimately resulted in deeper collaboration, triggering the creation of the Goodwill Games and compelling the International Olympic Committee to work with the United Nations to facilitate sporting links between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract The CO2 sequestration project is becoming increasingly attractive due to tax exemption benefits and as an initiative to reduce the global warming effect (D'Alesio, P., Poloni, R., Valente, P., & Magarini, P. A.2010). One of the major challenges in CO2 sequestration project is to ensure that the injection well integrity is intact throughout the well operating life. CO2 gas leakage to the surface or sea is unacceptable. Therefore, the considerations of using exotic/premium tubing materials are usually considered as the base case for continuous long-term operations (Baklid, A., Korbol, R., & Owren, G.1996). Typical materials used for CO2 injector wells are either Corrosion Resistant Alloy (CRA) or epoxy lined tubulars. The most widely adopted CRA material is 25 Cr (L. Smith, M.A. Billingham, C.-H. Lee, D. Milanovic, 2011). Selection of 25 Cr material is considered as conservative and may well be overdesigning. The main drawback is the high well cost associated with the application of 25 Cr tubing. Meanwhile, alternative materials such as epoxy lined tubulars are exposed to high temperature and pressure blistering effects and prone to mechanical damage caused by wireline activities, hauling, running, and pulling off the tubing (Newton, L. E., & McClay, R. A, 1977). Application of materials other than 25 Cr for CO2 injector wells, such as 22 Cr, Super 17 Cr, Super 15 Cr, Super 13 Cr, 13 Cr and carbon steel are uncommon but may be fit for purpose. Detailed studies using analytical method and physical tests are required to further qualify these materials for application in CO2 injector wells. These studies should cover all possible conditions throughout the well life such as injection, shut-in, flowback and by considering surface and bottom hole conditions which may contribute to increase in the corrosion rates for different types of materials. Other tests warranted before selecting the suitable material for field application include physical coupon, Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC) and Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) tests. This paper describes the material selection methodology and corrosion studies performed in the K1 field CO2 sequestration project using the other materials mentioned above as an effort to optimize well costs and improve overall project economics without jeopardizing the CO2 injector well integrity.
