Denne artikel undersøger de oplysninger, som gives i Koranen om de måder hvorpå hedningene, som budbringeren Muhammad prædikede for, tjente til livets ophold. Den viser, at Koranen beskriver dem som agerbrugsfolk og søfolk. Koranen specificerer sjældent formålet med deres virksomhed på havet, men nogle gange gør den klart, at det var fiskeri. De troende beskrives ligeledes som agerbrugsfolk i nogle afsnit, men oftere er de fremstillet som handelsfolk, især i de medinensiske suraer, hvor der også prædikes for dem med metaforer fra handelslivet.

Abstract:
The article presents the central covenantal concepts in the Koran and discusses their provenance, meaning, interrelatedness and interpretation as put forth in academic Islamic studies. A special point of interest concerns the covenantal relations between God (Allāh) and man whilst it is maintained that covenantal aspects should not be isolated from other, seemingly less theological aspects, e.g., various forms of social contracts, oaths and promises. Two subsequent paragraphs follow: the first one concerns covenantal relations between Muhammad and other human beings along with covenants as commercial transactions between God and human beings. The second paragraph considers the concept of divinely supported covenantal renunciations. The article closeswith some tentative remarks on the embodied provenance and usage of covenantal concept.

Denne artikel viser, at kvindelige, københavnske muslimer fra et konservativt moskemiljø bruger den reciterede koran som en integreret del af deres hverdagsrutiner og -praksis. Særligt er sammenhænge, hvor recitationen læres og øves, centrale, og kvinderne arbejder hele tiden på at forbedre og udvide deres recitationskompetencer, f.eks. ved at deltage i undervisning eller ved at lytte til recitation, når de tager bussen. Det er deres opfattelse, at deres recitation altid kan forbedres, og de indgår gennem deres konstante arbejde på at perfektionere deres recitation i det, der med inspiration fra Anna M. Gade (2004) kan beskrives som en vedvarende læringsproces med Koranen. Denne vedvarende læringsproces opfattes som en from og meningsfuld praksis i sig selv, og den er af stor betydning for kvindernes subjektivitetsformation og identifikation som dedikerede og fromme muslimer. Uden at gøre op med de konservative kønsopfattelser, der findes i det miljø, de er tilknyttet, viser kvinderne gennem deres daglige koraniske praksis et religiøst engagement, der lader dem fremstå som centrale islamiske aktører og bærere af Koranen.

English abstract: The Qurʾān is both a holy scripture and a holy object. As the latter, certain rules pertain to it as a physical book, including rules of placement, disposal, and ritual purity. In this article, we discuss the material aspects of the Qurʾān, the transition from the physical version to the digital or ‘appified’ version, and which religious practices are transferred, adapted, or entirely dropped in this transition, forming the point of depature for our study. The article is based on an ongoing qualitative study of the attitudes of 13 Danish-Muslim informants regarding the physical as well as the digital Qurʾān. From this data, we argue that the transition between these two types of media caused several new issues to be considered by our informants, for example, concerning rules of purity when dealing with a Qurʾān app. Dansk resume: Koranen er både en hellig tekst og et helligt objekt. Som en fysisk bog findes der derfor diverse regler, som muslimer skal tage højde for, fx i forhold til placering, bortskaffelse og rituel renselse. I denne artikel diskuterer vi Koranens materielle aspekter med det udgangspunkt at undersøge, hvordan man forholder sig til overgangen fra den fysiske koran til den digitale eller ‘appificerede’ koran, og hvilke religiøse praksisser der overføres, tilpasses eller helt droppes i denne overgang. Artiklen er baseret på et igangværende kvalitativt studie af 13 dansk-muslimske informanters holdninger til Koranen, såvel i fysisk som i digital form. Ud fra denne data argumenterer vi, at overgangen imellem de to typer medier medførte en del nye overvejelser og problematikker, som vores informanter blev nødt til at forholde sig til, fx i forhold til renhedsforskrifter når man havde at gøre med en koran-app.

I uppsatsen beskrivs hur islamiska banker fungerar och hur de klarar de funktioner som banker i moderna västerländska marknadsekonomier fyller. Syftet är att undersöka om islamiska banker kan få större betydelse än att förbli nischbanker. Slutsatsen är att de islamiska bankernas roll begränsas av att man har högre kostnader än sina konventionella motsvarigheter, och att fortsatt expansion är beroende på prestation och effektivitet. Som nischbank möter de en växande marknad, men för att utgöra en reell konkurrent till konventionella banker krävs ytterligare utveckling och effektivisering.

Abstract:
This study examines how the word ʾillā is treated in the Swedish Qur’ān translation from 1917 by Karl Vilhelm Zetterstéen. The analysis is based on Swedish and Arabic grammar and translation theory, and considers the fact that this Qur’ān translation is considered to be quite faithful to the source text. The study finds that the textual equivalent of ʾillā varies greatly in the target text, and further that it is not limited to exclusive conjunctions nor exceptives; rather, it often consists of a restrictive adverb in an affirmative clause, when ʾillā in the source text is in a negative clause. This points to a unique problematic of translation where ʾillā is concerned, which warrants further examination in future studies.

Abstract:
The discussion of Islam and their view of the Koran is constantly ”under fire” where everyone has an opinion, even the non-muslims. In this paper, the goal was to find out how the believers themselves interpret and see the Koran. The focus of this study is mainly on two suras in Koran, sura 4 verse 3 and sura 4 verse 129. The purpose of the study is to analyze the Muslim feminist authors’ views on polygamy and their focus on the two suras. The material is from four different feminist authors that writes about polygamy, their view and opinion on polygamous marriages and about the polygamous message in the Koran. The study demonstrates that the feminist authors argue from similar basis when discussing polygamy. The two most common arguments that the authors use is argument of fairness, where there is no logic to why, the otherwise so fair God, isn’t it then it comes to the terms of polygamy. Another argument that the authors bring up is the evolutionary argument, which the authors believe that the interpreters of the Koran in the present should take into account the historical development when they interpret the suras. The four different authors bring up similar arguments but different views on how polygamy in Islam and in the Koran should and can be interpreted.

The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the depiction of women in Quran from an Islamic feminist perspective. The questions that my study is based on are: How is the woman accounted in the Quran according to Islamic feminists? How do Muslim feminists argue and what do they base their reasoning on? My study is based on analyzes of the feminists’ works and statements. The results were analyzed with the help of different theories including Miriam Cookes “multiple critique”, Jan Hjärpes “The Islamic basket”, Jonathan Potters “methodological relativism” and Luckman & Bergers “social construction of reality”. The main result of this study is that it highlights how different Islamic feminists interpret the Quran in relation to the present and how their interpretations have created debates internationally. I also discuss the importance of new interpretations and the globalization for Muslim women.

The aim of this study is to examine new interpretations of homosexuality in Islam based on Scott Kugle’s book “Homosexuality in Islam” and the documentary “A Jihad for love” by Parvez Sharma. Through a theological perspective, a critical analysis is performed in order to find new interpretations and compare them with each other and with the Islamic legal tradition. Argumentative analysis is also used for both the book and the documentary for this essay.     Both Kugle and Sharma use new interpretations and arguments about love to find space for homosexuality in Islam. They use a Muslim language to have relevance with their discussions to Muslim readers and viewers. It is obvious that Sharma is aware of the scenes and arguments he chose to show in the documentary. Kugle focuses on unclear verses in the Qur’an, which contribute to that he could find possibilities to interpret homosexuals in the verses to fulfill his purpose and open up a topic for discussion. Their discussion show what Muslim homosexuals have to struggle with and with their new interpretations they both discover ways to find reconciliation between Islam and people’s sexual orientation by questioning the normative society.

Abstract:
This essay focuses on the elderly and their religious beliefs and is based on the origin idea of a secular Sweden, but where immigration has been the source of additional various religious affiliations. This study intends to nuance the problems that previous researchers focused on when doing research on immigration, by interviewing staff members of nursing homes in immigrant dense areas, especially Malmoe, Gothenburg and Stockholm. The aim is to investigate how the allocation of residents, with different religious than Protestant Christians, is distributed at nursing homes and to see if there is a need for adjustments. Additionally, the thesis about immigrants and immigrants' identity and attitudes to Swedish society is discussed with John Berry´s acculturation theories and strategies. The results show that the majority of the nursing homes have residents with different religious affiliations and that some practical adjustments have been done, but it also shows that nursing homes have changed to the extent that they have adapted to a secular society. Ignorance and prejudice contribute to the problem in terms of seeing all residents as individuals and at the same time ensuring adaption according to all their needs, which is exemplified in the solutions made by using multi-cultural staff members and specialized departments. The relationship between nursing homes and the Swedish church continues but the role of the church service has changed. However, the idea that residents with different affiliations are free to exercise their religion in private occurs simultaneously as it is highlighted that immigrants is assimilated into a secular Swedish society. This in turn means that not every residents need is seen to at the investigated nursing homes.

Mitt syfte med detta arbete har varit att försöka ge en beskrivning över vilken relation den konverterade muslimen i Sverige har till Koranen. Jag har valt att försöka belysa detta genom frågeställningen:

Hur tillgodogör sig konverterade muslimer i Sverige Koranen?

Arbetet är en kvalitativ fallstudie där jag genom fyra djupintervjuer på ett så brett vis jag förmått försökt omfamna de olika uttryck som relationen tar sig. Intervjuerna redovisas som referat i berättande form, och de föregås av en översiktlig beskrivning av Koranen.

Arbetet avslutas med en utvärderingsdiskussion där jag konstaterar att arbetet är ofullständigt då jag ej kunnat belysa den företeelse som frågeställning avser på ett begreppsligt vis. Slutligen så redogör jag för en möjlig fortsättning.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to examine the medial depiction of Muslims in the case of Pastor Terry Jones' intention to burn the Quran. Our study is based on theoretical framework regarding an alleged clash of civilizations, how that leads to global conflicts and controls the world politics. It’s also based on the western way of characterize Muslims as violent, irrational human beings, and how mass media have a tendency to depict Muslims as “the others”. The questions we aim to seek answers to are: How were Muslims portrayed in CNN's and Al-Jazeera's reporting regarding Terry Jones plan to burn the Quran? Which discourses exist about Muslims in each news channel and what are the main differences between them? The qualitative method used is a critical discourse analysis on empirical data consistently of twelve articles. A profound thematic and schematic analysis of each article is applied in order to make interpretations and relate the result to our theoretical framework. The result of the study shows that Muslims are, to a high level, portrayed as violent or dangerous with a strong connection to terrorism. A slight difference existed in the themes and discourses between each news channel. CNN objectified Muslims, as a whole, as a safety threat to the western community when Al-Jazeera, on the other hand, had the similar portraytion, but with an explanatory approach.

Abstract:
Figures show that Sweden received 40 000 refugees in the autumn of 2015, who all were in the age range to attend junior high, and high school. The majority of these students originated from countries where Islam is the main religion. Hence, some of these students are likely to have their educational background in a qur’anic school. The purpose of this study is therefore to provide information about these students’ educational background. The study has been conducted with a special focus on how the Swedish school system differs in comparison to the qur’anic school system. An additional research aim was to investigate what some English teachers knew about these students’ educational backgrounds. In addition to these aims, the study also focused on whether the teachers tend to adapt their lessons in order to benefit these students. The research method that has been applied in order to answer these questions are qualitative interviews conducted with four teachers of English. The results of this study indicate that the qur’anic school is vastly different from the Swedish school system. Furthermore, the teachers that participated in this study did share some knowledge about the qur’anic school system, even though it was somewhat limited among two of the interviewees. The same varying results were shown regarding the teachers’ wills to adapt their lessons, on behalf of these students. Moreover, two out of four teachers in this study lack basic knowledge about the qur’anic school.

Abstract:
Collected in the volume “L’Invincible espérance”, Christian de Chergé’s writings address the theme of mercy in the Christian Bible and in the Koran. De Chergé described also the practices of Christian life in a Muslim country. Hence my reflection followed in two stages: first, I propose to see the theological concepts of the author, anchored in the study of biblical and Koranic texts, in the spirit of religious pluralism, and then, to analyze the modes of living together of Christians among Muslims at the time of rupture. In this second part, I am inspired by the rule of Saint Benedict and the work of Michel de Certeau who perceives daily practices as an act of resistance.

Poremećaji hoda i poremećaji ravnoteže uobičajeni su klinički problemi za starije osobe. Uzroci poremećaja hoda su individualni, često zbog fiziološkog procesa starenja i somatskih bolesti. Poremećaji hoda dovode do gubitka lične slobode, pada i povreda i rezultiraju značajnim smanjenjem kvaliteta života. Kod starijih osoba, kontrola statičke i dinamičke kontrole položaja i ritma je poremećena, što dovodi do izmijenjenog hoda, smanjuje se korak, povećava se širina hoda kako bi se održala ravnoteža, gornji dio tijela se savija prema naprijed da bi se održala ravnoteža, ruke se ne pomiču dok hodaju, hod je nepravilan, teže je započeti prve korake nakon sjedenja ili stajanja, kao i okretanja. Ako je moguće, najbolje je tretirati etiološki faktor, tj. osnovne bolesti, kao što su parkinsonizam, neki metabolički poremećaji itd. Treba voditi računa o nusefektima nekih lijekova, naročito antiparkinsonika, sedativa, hipnotika i antidepresiva. Također je potrebno uključiti i druge specijaliste, kao što su reumatolozi, fizijatri i fizioterapeuti, kao i internisti, kardiolozi i dijabetolozi. Kognitivne strategije također mogu biti korisne, na primjer usmjeravanje pažnje na svaki pojedinačni korak, a ne čin hodanja kao takav, svjesno pokušavajući napraviti pojedinačne velike korake, ili mentalno brojanje, kao i upotreba pomagala za hodanje.

Postopki za prepoznavanje in zmanjševanje nevarnosti, ki so jim izpostavljeni zaposleni, so do aprila 2018, temeljili na enem od treh sistemov upravljanja: na sistemu upravljanja kakovosti (ISO 9001), sistemu upravljanje okolja (ISO 14001) ali na podlagi referenčnega dokumenta za zdravje in varnost (OHSAS 1800). Novi standard za upravljanje varnosti ISO 45001 temelji na skupnih elementih, značilnih za vse standarde sistemov vodenja ISO in skozi štiri korake »planiraj-izvedi-preveriukrepaj« (PDCA), organizacijam na sistematičen način omogoča prepoznavati tveganja in sprejemanje ukrepov za varne in zdrave delovne razmere. Ključnega pomena za uspešno implementacijo tega pristopa v organizacijo je zaveza in podpora vodstva pri razvoju, vodenju in promociji varnostne politike, ki je usmerjena v preprečevanje poškodb in bolezni ter vodi v proaktivno izboljšanje sistema varnosti in zdravja. Namen prispevka je na primeru pisarniškega dela predstaviti izvajanje programa ergonomije v skladu z zahtevami ISO 45001.

The global pandemic has brought renewed attention toward the everyday challenges in informal settlements. COVID-19 reminds us that southern urban life is rooted in ‘collective’ experiences where toilets and kitchens are shared by multiple families; where the categories of work and home, private and public space overlap; and where the majority live in vulnerable conditions. Despite these challenges, some of the most innovative and collective responses to COVID-19 have emerged from these areas. While informal settlements did face a host of risks and vulnerabilities during the pandemic, local responses have highlighted the resilience of informal settlement communities. However, few informal settlements are actually ‘resilient’ and any local responses must be robustly supported by system-wide change including support from local and national governments, improvements to built infrastructure, and improved access to health care services, among other priorities. The category of ‘informal settlements’ also captures a wide range of settlement types, from a legal slum to an informal settlement with no legal status, with many other types in between. This underscores the need to address fundamental issues that ‘perpetuate conditions of inequity, exclusion and vulnerability’ while also recognising the needs and contexts of different kinds of informal settlements. Whether COVID-19 helps governments recognise conditions of insecurity and vulnerability to address safe and secure housing and infrastructures remains to be seen. This is an update to the previous SSHAP brief on ‘COVID-19 in Informal Urban Settlements’ (March 2020). This evidence review highlights local responses, grassroots efforts, and challenges around COVID-19 recovery within urban informal settlements in South Asia. It focuses on specific examples from Karachi, Pakistan and Mumbai, India to inform policy responses for COVID-19 recovery and future epidemic preparedness and response. We show how local level responses are shaped in these cities where national and international responses have not reached communities at municipal and sub-municipal levels.
