Abstract:
The Swedish Navy’s Visby corvette is designed to be virtually invisible in pursuit of hostile submarines and underwater mines. The Visby is designed to be difficult to detect by an enemy using radar, infrared, hydro-acoustic monitoring or any other sensor system. The craft’s success could change naval warfare as profoundly as did the ironclad ships in the 19th century. Sweden’s YS2000 class corvette, the first known production naval stealth vessel, takes shape at Kockums’ shipyard on Karlskrona Island. The Kockums shipwrights designed the Visby to be electronically undetectable at a range greater than 13 km in rough seas, and at more than 22 km in calm seas, without electronic jamming. With the assistance of jamming, the Visby is invisible at more than 8 km in rough waters and 11 km in a calm sea. Computing Devices Canada also designed a monitoring system so that the Visby can perform a background check on its own vibration levels to ensure that the ship’s sound is within acceptable levels.

Abstract:
The Stirling power module V4-275R, integrated with a liquid oxygen system, is currently built for submarines for the Royal Swedish Navy and for the offshore company Comex in France. Since mid 1985 the Stirling engine system for the Swedish Navy has been successfully tested in a full-scale submarine test section. The next step in this programme will be an integration of the Stirling system into an operational Swedish submarine. A contract has been signed having Kockums as the main contractor. The French programme means a 500 ton manned diver lock-out submarine, the SAGA I, which is under final construction at Comex in Marseille. The energy system for the SAGA submarine consists of two V4–275R Stirling engines of maximum 100 kW power each. The oxygen storage, manufactured by AGA Cryo in Gothenburg, consists of two liquid oxygen tanks providing a total capacity of 10000 kWh, allowing the submarine to perform missions of up to 14 days submerged.

Abstract:
Celem artykułu jest analiza strategii rozwoju i przyjętych modeli biznesowych w największych grupach kapitałowych zajmujących się budową i wyposażeniem okrętów w krajach Unii Europejskiej. Stwierdzono, że budowane okręty wojenne i ich wyposażenie stanowią największą część europejskiego przemysłu okrętowego. Przedmiotem oceny były brytyjska BAE Systems, francuska Naval Group, niemiecka TKMS, hiszpańska Navantia, SAAB Kockums w Szwecji, włoska Fincantieri oraz holenderski Damen. Z analizy wynika, że jednym z podstawowych czynników kształtujących strategie rozwoju stoczni wojennych krajów UE jest polityka obronna i stworzone w ramach UE fundusze obronne. Zewnętrznymi czynnikami rozwoju jest także koniunktura na rynku statków wojennych. Czynniki te oraz przyjęte modele biznesowe znalazły swoje odzwierciedlenie w wielkości przychodów największych grup kapitałowych i marż zysku. Uzyskane dane wykazują na to, że kondycja finansowa tych firm nie jest stabilna. Modele biznesowe analizowanych przedsiębiorstw istotnie różnią się typami budowanych okrętów, strukturą własnościową i kapitałową. Wspólną cechą działania tych grup jest podejmowanie współpracy w realizacji projektów budowy okrętów w ramach UE oraz dążenie do konsolidowania tej produkcji w ramach dużych grup kapitałowych. Dynamika procesów konsolidacyjnych jest jednak stosunkowo niska i istnieje zagrożenie, że konkurencyjność stoczni wojennych może być niewystarczająca wobec agresywnych działań stoczni azjatyckich.

A tanulmány a magyar írásszakértői jegyzőkönyvek időbeli változásain keresztül kalauzolja el az olvasót a szerző saját fejlesztésű elektronikus jegyzőkönyvéig.Módszertan: Az írásszakértői e-jegyzőkönyv egy futó projekt keretében jelenleg is fejlesztés alatt álló szoftver, amely felületet biztosít az írásazonosító sajátosságok feltárására, az adatokat pedig későbbi elemzés céljából egy számítógépes adatbázisban gyűjti.Megállapítások: A tárolt adatok algoritmusokkal feldolgoztathatók, azokból a szakértők számára hasznos matematikai, statisztikai, valószínűségszámítási és számítástudományi eredmények nyerhetők.Érték: Az e-jegyzőkönyv elsődleges feladata, hogy egyszerűen, hatékonyan tegye lehetővé az írássajátosságok feltárását és rögzítését, másodsorban pedig informálja a vizsgálatot végző szakértőt a kézírásban megnyilvánuló tendenciákról, szokásokról, összefüggésekről az írásszakértői vizsgálatok objektivitásának növelése érdekében.

Abstract:
Constitutive models that reflect the microstructure evolution is of great significance to accurately predict the forming process of forging. Through thermal tension of 300M steel under various temperatures (950~1150 °C) and strain rates (0.01~10 s−1), the material flow and microstructure evolutions were investigated. In order to describe both the exponential hardening phenomenon at a higher temperature, and the softening phenomenon due to recrystallization at a lower temperature, a constitutive model considering microstructure evolution was proposed based on the Kocks–Mecking model. It was found that considering the stress-strain curve to be exponential in the work-hardening stage could improve the constitutive model prediction precision. The average error was 2.43% (3.59 MPa), showing that the proposed model was more precise than the modified Arrhenius model and the Kocks–Mecking model. The models to describe recrystallization kinetics and average grain size were also constructed. This work enabled the Kocks–Mecking model to predict stress-strain curves with a higher accuracy, and broadened the applicable range of the Kocks–Mecking model.

The effects of solution treatment time and artificial aging on the work hardening characteristics on Al-7%Si-0.6%Mg (D357) alloy castings were investigated. Four different solution treatment times at 540°C (1, 4, 16 and 64 hours) and six different artificial aging times at 160°C (0, 2.5, 5, 10, 20 and 40 hours) were used. Work hardening characteristics were investigated by Kocks-Mecking plots for each specimen. The effects of Si particle morphology (solution treatment) and matrix strength (aging) on Kocks-Mecking (Stage III) work hardening model parameters are discussed in the paper.

Abstract:
Inventory management is a key part of a company’s logistics function and is of great importance to companies as it is a substantial cost. It is of high importance for a company to make sure that the warehouse is efficient as possible. In this thesis two factors that hurt a warehouse’s efficiency are introduced; inventory inaccuracies and lead-time variations.This thesis has been dedicated to analyze how inventory inaccuracies and lead-time variations arise and how to eliminate them.To be able to solve this question we have used a qualitative research method. Our scientific approach is positivism and disciplinary approach deductive. To collect empirical data we have conducted interviews, done observations and used Kockums’s intranet.Our findings have shown that the problems often are caused by several factors and that the factors often caused by human errors. Our suggestions to Kockums are based on simplifying processes and that way eliminate human errors the best way possible.
Bakgrund: Lagerhållning är en central del av logistikfunktionen och är av stor betydelse för företag då stora kostnader ligger inom funktion. Kostnadspress har lett till att lager måste drivas så effektivt som möjligt där risken för att störningar inverkar minimeras. Två av dessa störningar som företag vill arbeta bort är saldodifferenser och ledtidsvariationer.Syfte: Att studera och precisera processer som rör Kockums lager och identifiera orsaker som ger saldodifferenser och ledtidsvariationer. Föreslå lösningsförslag för att minimera saldodifferens och ledtidsvariationer i Kockums lager.Metod: Studien är uppbyggd på en kvalitativ metod. Studiens synsätt är positivism och ett deduktivt angreppssätt tillämpas. Insamling av empirisk data sker genom intervjuer, observationer och företagets intranät.Slutsats: Studien har identifierat att saldodifferenser och ledtidsvariationer uppkomst sällan är ett resultat av bara en orsak, utan det är ofta flera orsaker som spelar in och tillsammans ger saldodifferenser och ledtidsvariationer.Vi kan se att de bakomliggande orsakerna till problemen i Kockums lager har uppkommit på grund av att den mänskliga faktorn har givits för stort utrymme att påverka.De förbättringsförslag som är utvecklade grundar sig i att simplifiera och effektivisera Kockums delprocesser samtidigt som den mänskliga faktorn reduceras så mycket som möjligt.Nyckelord: Saldodifferens,

Abstract:
The Swedish company Kockums AB, at the forefront within maritime and naval technology, is in need of a tool, document, and/or method to include environmental aspects in their product development process. This is mainly because of additional requirements put on Kockums AB from their main customer. Ship recycling is the major issue that has to be addressed and included in Kockums AB’sworking procedures. Moreover, ship recycling is a pressing issue to handle due to horrible conditions in South Asian countries, where most ship dismantling is taking place. For these reasons, the objective of this M.Sc. thesis was to integrate environmental aspects in the product development process at Kockums AB by designing and proposing a way of implementing a tool, document, and/or method. Environmental product requirements that Kockums AB is demanded to fulfill mainly derives from customers, classification societies, laws and legislations, and themselves. The Hong Kong Convention has been adapted, in 2009, but is yet to enter into force. Ship recycling is covered by the convention,and an ‘Inventory of Hazardous Materials’ has to be provided from the ship builder, and hence this is the main aspect for Kockums AB to consider. Naval ships are, however, excluded from the Hong Kong Convention. Kockums AB does not have a routine on how to handle environmental requirements nor are environmental aspects included in their product development process. Consequently, Kockums AB’senvironmental ambition should not be put too high and rather aim at follow laws. In an empiricalstudy, regarding environmental aspects at Kockums AB, difficulties were identified. Lack of environmental knowledge, communication problems, and misunderstandings regarding the ambiguous term environment showed to be most notable. The three most prominent success factors for asuccessful integration of ecodesign, from the conducted literature review and empirical findings, are education for employees, existence of an environmental champion, and top management support. A Long-term Environmental Action Plan (LEAP), which took the success factors into account and contains 18 Actions, was developed for Kockums AB, and is the ultimate result of this research. The LEAP was developed in accordance with ISO 14006, a new standard for incorporation of ecodesign in Environmental Management Systems, with the aim of reducing adverse environmental impactsthroughout a product’s lifecycle. Moreover, the proposed way of implementing the LEAP was based on a ”Plan, Do, Check, Act” methodology from Product-Oriented Environmental Management Systems (POEMS). POEMS focus on a product’s environmental efficiency throughout its lifecycle, by a systematic integration of ecodesign in the company’s strategies and practices, and hence continual improvements. This way of implementation should be familiar to Kockums AB because the company is certified according to ISO 14001, where continual improvement of environmental performance is a key factor. The proposed LEAP includes tools, documents, and methods that are to be used in daily work and product development at Kockums AB. It is a step towards environmentally conscious design and enhanced environmental knowledge at Kockums AB. Additionally, as a result of the LEAP, the expectation is that environmental conscious mindsets of employees arise.

Abstract:
Projektet bestod i att ge underlag för lämpliga och användbara lösningar för effektivisering av Kockums Maskins skärvätskehantering och kostnadsrelaterade faktorer gällande företagets skärvätska. En grundlig undersökning av lämpligt material inom projektets huvudsakliga område gjordes till en början för att därefter resultera i en vidare analys av företagets nuvarande system och hantering av skärvätskor. Utifrån denna analys påbörjades en vidare undersökning om möjliga förslag om förbättring gällande de berörda problemen. Genom direktkontakt med flertalet företag och personer inom hantering/inköp samt befintlig dokumentation gällande skärvätska, erhölls ett flertal lösningar och förbättringsförslag som senare utvärderades och användes vid framtagning av det sökta projektresultatet. Problematiken gällande valet av lösningar har att göra med det faktum att det krävs omfattande kompetens inom varje typ av lösningsgrupp för att uppfylla de krav och förhållanden som finns hos Kockums Maskin. Därmed har avgränsningar gjorts gällande direkta val av lösningar för att istället ge förslag på lämpliga lösningar gällande förbättring av kvalitet, som indirekt bör sänka den årliga kostnaden av skärvätska, utifrån Kockums Maskins egentliga behov.
The project was to provide the basis for appropriate and useful solutions for any eventually streamlining of Kockums Maskin's cutting fluid management. Cost-related factors regarding the company's cutting fluid are also included in this part. A detailed examination of suitable material within the project's main area were initially and subsequently result in a further analysis of the company's existing systems and management, regarding cutting fluids. Based on this analysis a further investigation on possible proposals was started for improvement regarding the issues involved with the solutions and the cutting fluids. Through direct contact with many companies and individuals in management/purchasing and existing documentation regarding cutting fluid, obtained a several solutions and suggestions for improvement regarding the searched area. This result was then later evaluated and used in the development of the project results. The problem regarding the choice of solutions has to do with the fact that it requires extensive expertise in every type of area to meet the requirements and conditions that Kockums Maskin demands. Thus, the boundaries claimed the election of solutions to instead provide suggestions for suitable solutions regarding the improvement of quality, which indirectly should lower the annual cost of cutting fluid, based on Kockums Maskin's actual needs.

Abstract:

Livsmedelsindustrin ökar årligen sin omsättning, trenden på mat hos konsumenterna pekar på en ökning av försäljning av prefabricerade livsmedel. Ökningen kan vara en indikation på konsumenters behov, vilket är intressant att koppla ihop restaurangbranschen med livsmedelsindustrin. Livsmedelsindustrin gör undersökningar av vad konsumenterna tycker och tänker, men vi vill se det från vårt perspektiv, vi ger exempel på nya mervärden för industritillverkade livsmedel utifrån kockarnas synpunkt.

Vårt syfte med uppsatsen är att undersöka vad kockar i restaurangbranschen tycker om industritillverkade frysta enportionsrätter. Vi undersöker eventuella gemensamma nämnare och bristerna hos den industritillverkade maten.

Frågeställning: Vad är bra respektive mindre bra generellt sett ur en kocks perspektiv med avseende på industritillverkade frysta enportionsrätter?

Som metod användes halvstrukturerad kvalitativ intervju med nio kockar. Kockarna fick bedöma två olika industritillverkade enportionsrätter. Intervjun utgick från ett frågeformulär som innehöll områdena som utseende, smak, konsistens och helhetsintryck angående rätterna. Resultatet analyserades och strukturerades utifrån områdena i frågeformuläret. I stort så godkändes smaken i rätterna. Mervärdet kunde höjas genom att på olika sätt justera förpackningen. I marknadsföringen kunde också den goda doften från maten lyftas fram.

Resultatet av undersökningen skulle kunna ge värdefull information till livsmedelsproducerande företag i deras produktutveckling.

I skolans styrdokument talas det om kunskaper som en kock ska ha efter avslutad utbildning. Syftet är att undersöka vilka kunskaper som en blivande kock från det treåriga HR-programmet bör inneha efter avslutad gymnasieutbildning. För att genomföra denna undersökning har vi använt oss av en enkätundersökning med fyra efterföljande intervjuer. Det skickades ut en webbaserad enkät till 76 yrkeslärare och till 65 krögare. Resultatet

visar att det är den praktiska kunskapen och den sociala förmågan som är det viktigaste. Den kunskapskategori som fått flest markeringar är "stort matintresse", andra som fått många är "bra social förmåga", "ansvarstagande", "planeringsförmåga" och "arbeta ekonomiskt". Man kan se detta som färdigheter och förtrogenhet som erhållits genom praktiskt arbete. Slutsatsen är att skolan tillsammans med branschen mer

bör fokusera på att hitta former för hur teori och praktik kan bygga upp färdigheter och förtrogenhet. Enligt krögarna och lärarna bör skolan prioritera "grunder och grundmatlagning" i undervisningen. I framtiden ska kockarna vara "flexibla", kunna "sund och hälsosam matlagning" samt vara kunniga inom området "hygien och miljöarbete" enligt undersökningen.

You cannot form a state with the Internet—or can you? In contrast to post-territorial expectations from the early days of the Internet, the state seems to be increasingly in demand when it comes to coming to terms with the digital revolution. What is more, state structures have never been irrelevant in terms of the Internet but have influenced both it and digitalisation since their beginnings. This book explores the intriguing relationship between the Internet and the state in depth from an interdisciplinary perspective that includes political science, legal studies and communication studies. By examining sovereignty, privacy and security, the contributions it contains address the fundamental understandings and functions of the state. They deal with regulatory areas that have changed dynamically in the digital era: data protection, the administration of critical Internet resources and the regulation of media content. Abstract ActA is a major surface protein of the Gram positive human bacterial pathogen L. monocytogenes. It is encoded by gene actA (Genebank accession number M82881 and EMBL Data library accession number X59723) whose sequence predicts a 639-amino-acid protein with an amino-terminal signal peptide and a C-terminal membrane anchor (Domann et al. 1992; Vazquez-Boland et al. 1992). The N-terminus is processed at the predicted site and the mature 610-amino-acid protein is expressed on the bacterial surface and anchored into the bacterial membrane via its hydrophobic C-terminal region (Domann et al. 1992; Kocks et al. 1992). ActA (predicted isoelectric point: 4.74) is rich in glutamic acid (12 per cent) and proline (9.2 per cent). The N-terminal domain of ActA is highly charged. Its central region contains a succession of proline/glutamic rich stretches. The C-terminal part is more hydrophobic. As shown by immunogold labelling, the two first parts of the protein protrude from the cell wall and are thus able to interact with cytoskeleton components. ActA displays a polar distribution on the bacterial body. It is highly expressed at one pole of the bacterium and its distribution gradually decreases towards the other (Kocks et al. 1993).

In this chapter Kocku von Stuckrad and Shaul Magid debate the utility of Magid’s initial definition that religion is, in many ways, a paradox, one that makes any definition of religion difficult to sustain. Von Stuckrad argues that such a definition risks reifying a certain form of religion and then assuming that its features are somehow general and universally applicable. He also argues that Magid’s definition attributes agency to religion when, in fact, religion does not actually do anything—social actors do. While agreeing to a certain extent, Magid counters with the claim that von Stuckrad does not place sufficient attention on issues of colonialism and imperialism.

In this chapter Laurie L. Patton and Kocku von Stuckrad debate the utility of the term “religion.” In his original statement von Stuckrad argued that religion is whatever people want it to be, and while scholars should ideally avoid issues of normativity, they are often pulled into them. Patton responds that von Stuckrad dos not pay sufficient attention to the notion of economics, especially political economy, which, she argues, helps us to take into account the notion of secularization and the so-called nones. The public sphere, Patton argues, needs to be taken into account, especially since it is where religion is defined, often legally and without recourse to scholars of religion.

Abstract The operation of Stirling Energy Systems’ Stirling Dish system and components, originally built and tested during the mid 1980s by McDonnell Douglas [Lopez, 1993] and operated in the Department of Energy Dish Engine Critical Components (DECC) Program since 1998 is presented in this paper. The operating time, performance, and system availability are presented. The data show that the Kockums Stirling engine has accumulated over 8,200 hours of on-sun operating time, has generated over 115 MWh of electrical energy, and has accumulated more than 15,000 hours of test cell operating time since April of 1998 in the DECC Program. Power measurements indicate that the system performs the same as it did in the 1980s. The daily energy plots show net energy efficiency between 24% to 27% when the daily energy available exceeds 600 kWh. System availability data during the 1998/1999 testing period shows that the system was available over 94% of the time when the insolation exceeded 300 W/m2. The data presented herein focuses on three power conversion units (PCUs) and two solar concentrators, which are tested in various combinations and as individual system components. During later parts of the testing cycle, one of the engines, PCU 209, included newly manufactured Stirling engine components (regenerators and coolers) as part of a manufacturing cost reduction program.
