Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to discover The Portrayal of Merrick Rocha’s Loneliness in “Taken” by Kellie Maine using Psychological Approach. The loneliness issue and its impacts were able to be perceived by discovering the reasons and the impacts of loneliness. Qualitative research was held in this study. The result of this study showed that the writer could find four reasons of Merrick Rocha’s loneliness and three positive ways to reduce his loneliness inside Taken by Kelli Maine. Those four reasons behind Merrick Rocha’s loneliness are (1) Being Unattached, (2) Alienation, (3) Being Alone, and (4) Dislocation. For the ways or impacts of loneliness, this study found three positive impacts such as (1) Active Solitude, (2) Distraction by Spending Money, (3) Active Solitude. The negative one (4) Sad Passivity does not exist in the novel because Merrick Rocha’s loneliness

(francuski) Le petit monast?re de Karyes appel? tou? Plaka a ?t? fonde vers le milieu du XIe siecle. Les signatures de ses higoum?nes figurant sur les actes du Protaton de la Sainte Montagne r?v?lent que cet ?tablissement s?est rapidement range au nombre des monast?res influents. Ceci ressort ?galement de donn?es nous apprenant que deux de ses moines ont ?t? grands ?conomes (1081,1322) et deux autres ?pierr?tes de l?Athos (1294, 1344-1347). Ce monast?re s?est maintenu en tant que tel vraisemblablement jusqu?a la troisi?me d?cennie du XIVe si?cle, lorsque ses repr?sentants commencent a signer avec le terme o Plakaj, que nous comprenons comme celui de Plaka. La r?gression de Plaka au rang de kellion pourrait ?tre mise en relation avec quelque incursion de grande ampleur des Turcs visant Karyes, laquelle se serait ?galement traduite par la d?vastation de plusieurs autres ?tablissements monastiques non prot?ges. Apres 1322, nous ne disposons d?aucune donn?e sur tou? Plaka durant plus de deux d?cennies, et ce jusqu?en septembre 1344, lors qu?un acte du protos Isaac est signe par Th?ophile o Plakaj, epiterete de la Sainte Montagne. Ce dernier ?tait alors aussi membre d?une direction coll?giale de l?Athos, form?e en l?absence du protos Isaac. En d?cembre 1347, un protos, a ce qu?il semble, le serbe Antoine, c?d?, et ce a la demande de l?empereur Stefan Du{an, le kellion appel? Plaka dans la pleine possession du petit monast?re de Saint-Sabbas, hesychasterion de Chilandar. Au titre de cette tradition en faveur de leur monast?re, les moines de Saint-Sabbas devaient, selon l?usage, verser annuellement au Protaton quatre litres de vin et trois litres d?huile. Toutefois, alors que par sa subordination a un autre monastere, tout kellion perdait son statut de personne morale, on constate que Theophile moine et epiterete o Plakaj apparait comme signataire sur le document de d?cembre 1347 par lequel tou? Plaka est c?d? a Saint-Sabbas. Apres cela, et ce durant une longue p?riode on ne trouve aucune signature de repr?sentants tou? Plaka sur les actes de l?Athos. Puis, de 1362 a 1366, on a a nouveau, sur plusieurs d?cisions prises par le protos serbe Dorothee, la signature d?un autre moine du m?me nom - Theophile o Plakaj. Nous savons aussi qu?a partir de 1363 ce dernier r?side au monast?re tou? Menetze et qu?en janvier 1366 il signe en tant que son higoum?ne. A ce qu?il semble ce s?jour a Menetze n??tait toutefois que provisoire. Enfin, un moine o Plakaj - Theodose, Teophile, puis, de nouveau Teodose, participe au travail du Conseil du protos serbe Sava en 1369 et 1371. Tou Plaka apparait ensuite au nombre des kellia que le protos Gerasimos entreprend de recouvrer en faveur du Protaton, ?pres leur remise a divers monast?res par les protoi serbes. Mais, satisfaisant aux dol?ances des moines de Chilandar, ce dernier leur c?d? a nouveau ce m?me ?tablissement en 1375 dans leur pleine possession. Et, a nouveau, l?acte correspondant porte, aux cotes de celles des autres membres du Conseil du protos Gerasimos, la signature du moine Theophile o Plakaj. Par ailleurs, les repr?sentants tou Plaka, a savoir les moines Teodose et Theophile, y compris ?pres cette remise de leur kellion a Chilandar, continuent de participer au travail du Conseil des protoi Gerasimos (1375) et Chariton (1376 et 1377). Il semble qu??pres 1377 Teodose de Plaka ait rejoint le monast?re tou Serviotou. La participation d?un moine o Plakaj au travail du Conseil du protos, et c?y compris ?pres la cession de son kellion, tout d?abord au petit monastere Saint-Sabbas (1347), c.-a-d. a l? hesychaterion de Chilandar puis directement a ce monastere (1375), peut s?expliquer, selon nous, d?une part par le prestige dont jouissait tou Plaka au Protaton et, d?autre part, de toute ?vidence, par certains changements enregistres a l?Athos au cours du XIVe si?cle. Dans ce m?me cadre on peut ici noter les efforts de Saints-Sabbas et de ses moines visant a assurer l?ind?pendance de ce kellion vis-a-vis de Chilandar, alors que starac (geron) de cet ?tablissement participe parfois, lui aussi, au travail du Conseil du protos (ca 1332 et f?vrier 1369). En cons?quence il ?tait acceptable que starac tou Plaka, de toute ?vidence en tant que kellion prestigieux et r?pute de Karyes particip?t, en tant que geron du Protaton au travail du Conseil du protos y compris a l?epoque ou ce kellion etait subordonne a Chilandar. Il semble que l?on perde toute trace de l?ancien monast?re, et par la suite kellion, tou Plaka, ainsi que de quelques autres ?tablissements monastiques, avant la fin du XIVe si?cle. Pour des raisons que nous ignorons, peut-?tre par crainte des attaques des Turcs, certains des habitants de Plaka ont provisoirement s?journe dans les monast?res tou Menetze et peut-?tre tou Serbiotou, qui ?taient assur?ment des ?tablissement offrant une plus grande s?curit?.

In order to help physics teachers who face the new curricular proposal introduced by the National Curricular Parameters for high schools, this work has the objective to evaluate whether the texts “Leituras de Física”, produced by the Physics Teaching Reelaboration Group, from the Physics Institute of São Paulo University, allow the development of some competences related to the concept of heat. In this study, we also research the application of kellyan experience cycle (anticipation, investment, encounter, confirmation/disconfirmation, constructive revision), using this material, to high school students, during thirty classes of fifty minutes each, in which the two first involved the anticipation phase. After the interventions, we applied the post-test, with two intentions: to allow the student to make a great constructive revision and to diagnose if the student had developed the expected competences. The comparison of results obtained in pre-test, in interventions and post-test showed that this didactic resource, used in a experience cycle, contributed not only to the development of specific competences related to the concept of heat, as well permitted that the students could progress in their capacity to read and write texts. Therefore, the methodology applied in this research, besides familiarizing the participants with the specific language of physics, allowed them to develop the necessary competences to analyze scientific news.
A fim de colaborar com o professor de física, que se vê diante dessa nova proposta curricular trazida pelos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais do ensino médio, este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar se os textos de “Leituras de Física”, produzido pelo Grupo de Reelaboração do Ensino de Física, do Instituto de Física da Universidade de São Paulo, possibilitam o desenvolvimento de algumas competências relacionadas ao conceito de calor. Neste estudo, pesquisamos, também, a aplicação do ciclo da experiência kellyana (antecipação, investimento, encontro, confirmação/desconfirmação e revisão construtiva), utilizando esse material, a alunos do segundo ano do ensino médio, em trinta aulas de cinqüenta minutos cada, das quais as duas primeiras contemplaram a fase de antecipação. Após as intervenções aplicamos o pós-teste com duas intenções: permitir que o aluno ao respondê-lo fizesse uma grande revisão construtiva e diagnosticar se o aluno tinha desenvolvido as competências esperadas. A comparação dos resultados obtidos no pré-teste, nas intervenções e no pós-teste mostrou que esse recurso didático, utilizado num ciclo da experiência, contribuiu não só para desenvolvimento de determinadas competências relacionadas ao conceito de calor, como também permitiu que os alunos avançassem na sua capacidade de leitura e interpretação de textos. Assim, a metodologia empregada nesta pesquisa, além de familiarizar os aprendizes com a linguagem particular da Física, possibilitou o desenvolvimento de competências necessárias para analisar e interpretar notícias científicas.

Abstract:
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative pathological condition of the appendicular joints which affects the cartilage and underlying bone. OA is relatively common in both the archaeological and clinical context, and a significant amount of research has been conducted on this osteological condition. The purpose of this thesis is to assess the incidence, demographic prevalence, and general severity of hip and knee OA in a Roman-Christian period (50 A.D-450 A.D) population sample from the Dakhleh Oasis, Egypt. The bioarchaeological sample originates from the Kellis 2 cemetery which is associated with the ancient town of Kellis. The town of Kellis is believed to have been a prosperous economic hub in Egypt, located in the Western Sahara Desert approximately 250 kilometers west of the Nile. The skeletal samples (n=135, 83 females and 51 males) was visually assessed for the osteological characteristics of OA in the hips and the knees. Joint surfaces of the hip include the acetabulum and femoral head. Joint surfaces of the knee include lateral/medial tibio-femoral compartments and the patellofemoral compartment. The ages of the individuals assessed in this study range from 19-72 years, and have been divided into five age categories which were then cross-tabulated with sex and OA incidence in order to determine demographic prevalence of OA. Findings indicate that age is a significant etiological factor of OA prevalence for both males and females. Males are afflicted by the disease significantly more than females in the hips (F: (L) 3.6%, (R) 5.9% and M: (L) 13.7%, (R) 13.7%) and also slightly more affected in the knees(F: (L) 17.5%, (R) 18.3% and M: (L) 22.9%, (R)21.3%). The acetabulum tends to be more arthritic than the femoral head for both males and females. Femoral condyles tend to be more arthritic than tibial condyles for both males and females.; The patello-femoral compartment tends to be the most arthritic part of the knee while the medial condyles of both tibiae exhibit virtually no OA (with the exception of one individual). The joint surface observed with the highest OA prevalence is the femoral surface of the patella (F: (L) 17.5%, (R) 15.9% and M: (L) 21.3%, (R) 21.3%). The highest prevalence of OA by joint complex is observed on the left knee in males (22.9%), and the lowest prevalence of OA is observed on the left hip of females (3.6%). Both hip and knee joints have higher prevalence of unilateral OA manifestation than bilateral. Isotopic and archaeological evidence indicates that the individuals at Kellis maintained an agricultural subsistence regime, and that the males within the population may have been highly mobile migrating to and from the Dakhleh Oasis. Subsistence agriculture has its necessary physical demands which may have been a contributory factor to OA rates. Males show higher OA rates than females throughout the joints of the legs. Sexual dimorphism of OA for the hips is suggestive of sexual divisions of labor. OA of the knees lacks sexual dimorphism therefore the knee joint complex of males and females were likely subjected to similar levels of mechanical loading. It can be concluded based on the OA data that males and females exhibit similar activity, or biomechanical stress levels in the knee joint complexes. Males exhibit significantly higher pathological manifestation of OA in the hip joint complexes, indicative of higher levels of mechanical loading in the hip joint complex which can theoretically be attributed to sexual divisions of labor or perhaps terrestrial mobility.

Abstract:
The Kellis 2 cemetery site within the Dakhleh Oasis, Egypt provides a unique study opportunity due to the large number of infant, perinatal, and fetal individuals that have been recovered. Several of the infant and fetal remains have undiagnosed circular defects on the temporal bone, and others have undiagnosed lesions on the zygomatic bone. Of the 268 individuals under one year of age that have been analyzed from the Kellis 2 cemetery, twenty-six individuals have the temporal bone defect and six have the zygomatic bone lesions. A survey of clinical and paleopathological research provided possible pathological conditions that could cause abnormalities such as defects or lesions on the temporal bones or zygomatic bones in the fetal and infant population. For this study, the temporal bone defects and zygomatic bone lesions were macroscopically observed and a descriptive analysis was created. The information garnered from the literature survey was then compared to the individuals from the Kellis 2 cemetery that had the temporal bone defects and zygomatic bone lesions to create a differential diagnosis. A differential diagnosis of the temporal bone defects includes mastoid emissary vein defects and petrosquamous sinus anomalies. A differential diagnosis of the zygomatic bone lesions includes scurvy. Contributing factors may also have been present in order for these defects and lesions to occur. Creating a differential diagnosis of the defects and lesions can provide information on the health, growth, and morbidity of the youngest members of the society related to the Kellis 2 cemetery.

Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the use of geographic information systems (GIS) to examine mortuary practices in the Romano-Byzantine period Kellis 2 cemetery located in the Dakhleh Oasis, Egypt. The first research objective examines the relationship between age, sex and grave substructures of 701 burials in Kellis 2 cemetery. The aim of this research objective was to determine if the presence and style of grave substructures were influenced by sex or age. Although not statistically significant, GIS analysis revealed that most of the graves in the Kellis 2 cemetery have no associated substructures, but of those that did have associated substructures,adult male burials were more likely to have a substructure than adult females or juveniles. Moreover, males and females aged from 22 to 50 years were more likely to have an associated substructure than younger and older individuals. In the juvenile age categories, newborns and children aged 1 to 5 years were more likely to have an associated substructure than the other juvenile age categories. This may be related to the second research objective which focused on the spatial relationship between infant and adult burials in the Kellis 2 cemetery. The second objective was to determine if infants were more likely to be buried between two adults, perhaps representing family units. GIS and statistical analysis revealed that the infants in the Kellis 2 cemetery were more likely to be buried closer to each other or to adult females than to adult males. Of those 25 infants buried between two adults most of them were either buried between two adult females, or between an adult male and female. Only three infants were found buried between two males. Interestingly, many of the adult females buried in close proximity with an infant were of child-bearing age. GIS was a very useful tool for examining questions of mortuary practices, particularly in examining spatial relationships between variables recorded for the Kellis 2 cemetery.

The objective of this study was to investigate, in a class of future teachers of UFRPE, studying the discipline: "Fundamentos e Vivências em Práticas Interdisciplinares", which the conditions, obstacles and possibilities, so that the contemporary science contributes by through the training of teachers for the necessary renewal of science education. For that, we turn to the case of fractals, taking as a basis the Theory of Personal Constructs of George Kelly (1963), more specifically, the Cycle of Experience. The interlocution was structured in five stages through which students had the opportunity to anticipate and invest in building an interdisciplinary and complex thinking and later confront the new information gained from their preconceptions about the relationship between concept of fractals, the emerging paradigm and the traditional paradigm, with the possibility to modify the preconceptions. Data analysis allowed the following conclusion: the traditional and modern approach, the mathematical rigor of students and predominantly classic relations between the concept and adaptation to the current world have been enriched by a posture in which the dialogue with the uncertainty favors the development of knowledge and thinking. And besides, that is from more complex relationships that stands the perception of interdependence as well as the ideas of contemporary science.
O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar, numa turma de licenciandos da UFRPE cursando a disciplina: Fundamentos e Vivências em Práticas Interdisciplinares, quais as condições, obstáculos e possibilidades, para que a ciência contemporânea contribua, através da formação de professores, para a necessária renovação do ensino de ciências. Para tanto se recorreu ao caso dos Fractais tendo como base a Teoria dos Construtos Pessoais de George Kelly (1963), mais especificamente o Ciclo da Experiência. A intervenção foi estruturada em cinco etapas, através das quais os alunos tiveram oportunidade de antecipar e investir na construção do pensamento interdisciplinar e complexo e, posteriormente, confrontar as novas informações adquiridas com suas concepções prévias sobre as relações entre o conceito de fractais, o paradigma tradicional e o paradigma emergente vindo a modificá-las. A análise dos dados permitiu a seguinte conclusão: a postura moderna tradicional, o rigor matemático dos alunos e as relações predominantemente clássicas estabelecidas entre o conceito e adequação ao mundo atual foram enriquecidas por uma postura onde o diálogo com a incerteza favorece o conhecer e o pensar e que é a partir das relações mais complexas que a percepção de interdependência se sobressai, bem como as ideias da ciência contemporânea.

Abstract:
2008 novembere és 2009 áprilisa között a Kulturális Örökségvédelmi Szakszolgálat megbízásából a Scott és Csoma szélerőmű-park területén, az Ács-Öbölkúti-dűlő lelőhelyen Fűköh Dániel vezetésével végeztek régészeti feltárást. A helyszínen egy késő római (3–4. századi) telep és a hozzá tartozó temető részletét sikerült feltárni. A feltárt 38 római kori sír a Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum leltározott gyűjteményébe tartozik. A nemi eloszlás alapján 18 esetben férfi, 13 esetben nő nyugodott a sírban. Az alacsony sírszám és a mennyiségében és minőségében nem reprezentatív temetőrészlet ellenére, a szükséges korrekciók után, kísérlet történt a halandósági viszonyok meghatározására. Mindenképpen figyelemre méltó a rövidfejűség magas aránya. Ha ezt a népességet is a római korban általános hosszúfejűség jellemezné, akkor azoknak a vizsgálható koponyák között is meg kellene jelenni. Ez az embertani megfigyelés mindenesetre szükségessé teszi a régészeti leletanyag körültekintő és alapos vizsgálatát.

A tudomány és eredményeinek szabadsága, az egyetemek szabad szellemisége, a nyílt működés és az alkotói szabadság évszázadok óta fontos jellemzője az akadémiai szférának. A tudományos eredmények publikálása számos, akár nemzetközi szintű szakmai csoportok kialakulását segítette, s hozzájárult a tudományos élet színvonalának emelkedéséhez. Az Internet szolgáltatásaiban rejlő lehetőségeket a tudományos világ az elsők közt használta fel, új csatornákon tette közzé kutatásainak folyamatát és eredményeit, ami korábban nem látott mértékben segítette az azonos érdeklődésű kutatók kapcsolatépítési lehetőségeit. A közzétett információk nem korlátozódnak a tudományos környezetre, a tudományos eredmények gyakorlati felhasználása értéket jelent a gazdasági és a bűnözői körök számára is. E szereplők elsődleges célja azonban más, szinte kizárólag a gazdasági előny megszerzésére korlátozódik. Cikkemben rámutatok, hogy mások mellett az akadémiai szféra intézményei is túlzott mennyiségű információt tesznek közzé magukról, azok védelmét magasabb szinten kellene ellátniuk, és javaslatot teszek arra, hogy nagyobb hangsúlyt fektessenek a nyílt forrású felderítés elleni védekezésre.

Abstract:
Három, az oktatási és képzési rendszeren belül tapasztalható, részben a digitális átállás részét képező változást mutat be a tanulmány: 1. az Egyéni Tanulási Számlát, 2. a mikrotanúsítványokat és 3. a tanúsítványokra vonatkozó digitalizációs törekvéseket. A magasan képzett munkaerőt igénylő munkák 25%-kal emelkedtek az OECD országokban az elmúlt két évtizedben, és a dolgozók tovább maradnak a munkaerőpiacon; emiatt alapvető fontosságú az átképzés (reskilling) és a készségfejlesztés (upskilling). A munkaerőpiacon tapasztalható másik jelentős változás, hogy a korábbiakhoz képest fragmentáltabb az egyén karrierútja, egyre nagyobb arányú az atipikus foglalkoztatás. Ezen változásokat követnünk kellene a felnőttképzésben résztvevők arányának növelésével: reményeink szerint ebben is segíthet az Egyéni Tanulási Számla és a mikrotanúsítványok bevezetése, valamint a tanúsítványok digitalizációja. A mikroképzések rövidebb idő alatt, könnyebben elvégezhetők, így a felnőtt lakosság motiválhatóbb a tanulásban való részvételre. Ugyanakkor az ezek során szerzett tanulási eredményeket nem rögzítik megfelelően, az értük adható kreditek nem akkumulálódnak, pedig ez fontos lenne a képzésben résztvevő, a munkaadó és a gazdaság szempontjából egyaránt. A tanulási eredmények, kreditek, tanúsítványok rögzítését egyre több helyen digitálisan szeretnék megoldani: a virtuális tároláshoz ma már rendelkezésre állnak megfelelő adatvédelmi és hitelesítési (blokklánc) technikák.

Performing optical processing operations directly on noncoherent objects offers obvious advantages. Two approaches, grating interferometers [W. Stoner, Appl. Opt. 16, 1451 (1977)] and two-pupil methods [A. W. Lohmann and W. T. Rhodes, Appl. Opt. 17, 1141 (1978)], have been proposed. We propose to employ the spatial coherence function generated by a spatially noncoherent distant object. A discrete record of this function already has been used in radioastronomy [P. Kellman, S. Leonard, and E. Barrett, Appl. Opt. 16, 1113 (1977)]. However, utilizing a wavefront folding interferometer it is possible to make a hologram of a distant noncoherent object by encoding the spatial coherence function. This hologram may be called a coherence hologram. In the reconstruction step the coherence hologram is illuminated by a plane uniform noncoherent source. The reconstruction is obtained by employing the same interferometric arrangement as that used to make the hologram. Furthermore, optical processing of such noncoherent objects can be accomplished by modifying in a special way the intensity distribution of the plane noncoherent source used in the reconstruction step. Examples of matched filtering, high-pass filtering, and low- pass filtering are discussed.
