Abstract:
The Bn(k) poly-Bernoulli numbers — a natural generalization of classical Bernoulli numbers (Bn = Bn(1)) — were introduced by Kaneko in 1997. When the parameter k is negative then Bn(k) is a nonnegative number. Brewbaker was the first to give combinatorial interpretation of these numbers. He proved that Bn(−k) counts the so called lonesum 0–1 matrices of size n × k. Several other interpretations were pointed out. We survey these and give new ones. Our new interpretation, for example, gives a transparent, combinatorial explanation of Kaneko’s recursive formula for poly-Bernoulli numbers.

Abstract:
Due to a complex phenomenon, computational modeling has been used in an attempt to simulate the behavior of debris flows. One of the computational models is Kanako-2D. The present work carried out sensitivity analysis of this model in relation to length, erosion area, deposition area, total reached area and flow width. The values of the Kanako-2D input parameters, which ranges were established from literature review, were individually changed while the others were kept at the standard values of the model. The analyzed parameters were: sediment diameter, Manning roughness coefficient, coefficient of deposition rate, coefficient of erosion rate, mass density of the fluid phase, mass density of bed material, sediment concentration and internal friction angle. It was used a real slope-site with a history of occurrences of debris flow (Böni river basin in Alto Feliz and São Vendelino/RS) and a hypothetical slope-site with the same characteristics of the real one to evaluate the effect of the topography in the propagation of the flow. Different hillslope and alluvial fan conditions were also simulated in order to evaluate the length and reached area in the propagation of the flow. The sensitivity was quantified from three methods: (a) screening analysis, which indicated mass density of bed material, internal friction angle and sediment concentration as the parameters that cause bigger sensitivity in the model; (b) regionalized analysis, indicate that the parameters mass density of bed material, internal friction angle and mass density of the fluid phase showed higher sensitivity in the model; and (c) variances analysis, indicated that coefficient of erosion rate, sediment diameter and mass density of bed material showed higher sensitivity in the model. The results showed that, in general, the parameters that generate the higher sensitivity in the model are mass density of bed material, internal friction angle and concentration. The largest relative variation, however, in the response of the model were observed in mass density of bed material, internal friction angle and mass density of fluid phase. In descending order, the highest sensitivities were verified for erosion area, total area, deposition area, length and width for the real slope-site and total area, length and width for the hypothetical slope-site. The terrain condition that generated the largest length and reached area was 45° on the hillslope and 17º on the alluvial fan.

Marin, Léonie. "Les revendications médiatisées kanak." Paris 8, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012PA083534.

Full text
Abstract:
This research aims to study the mediated claims of Kanak people from New Caledonia, an overseas collectivity of French in a process of self-determination. In its contemporary context, we define the notion of claim by analyzing its processes, which enable self-definition and self-representation. These new perspectives have created a dynamic of ideological political, social, economic and cultural confrontations, which contribute to social change. Since the late 1960s, with the advent of political parties' media, the mediatization of the forms of communication of Kanak people has evolved, due to a proliferation of claims and identification processes. In this perspective, a field survey in France and Oceania has allowed us to intersect an in situ ethnographic approach with a discursive analysis of mediated interactions on the Internet, covered by Communication Science. The complementarity of these approaches intends to contribute to the deepening of a digital anthropology. Within the Internet sphere, the appropriation of digital media devices, as well as the self-publishing of mediated interactions renew the individual communicational practices and generate debates. While these debates may give rise to conflicts, they may also become a favorable modality for intercultural exchange. In addition, contemporary communication tactics allow a renewal of the ways to participate individually and collectively, by creating new forms of social and political engagement

Abstract:
The Lattice-Boltzmann Method (LBM) has been used for investigating flow behavior and characteristics in mini, micro and nano channels with the objective of describing the transition among different length scales. In particular, we have used the LBM to describe the air bearing lubrication problem at very small scales. For doing this, first we simulate and characterize the Poiseuille flow through different length scale and compare the LBM numerical results to existing experimental and numerical results. We put special attention on the application of the slip boundary condition on the channel wall for very small length scales. Our numerical results for the Poiseuille flow show an acceptable agreement with the Fukui & Kaneko numerical solution for continuous and slip-velocity regimes. For both, the rarified flow regime and the free molecular flow regime our solutions do not show an acceptable agreement with the Fukui & Kaneko Model. Then, we focus on the Couette flow characterization at very small length scales. The pressure distribution on both walls for different Knudsen numbers is obtained and compared to existing numerical results. Last, we concentrate in the air bearing problem. We have looked at the best simulation parameters for successfully describing this device flow dynamics, and particularly, for determining the pressure distribution and the net force with a good accuracy.

Abstract:
A nonlinear dynamic model is developed to analyze the bouncing vibration of a partial contact air bearing slider, which is designed for the areal recording density in hard disk drives of 1 Tbit/in2 or even higher. In this model the air bearing with contact is modeled using the generalized Reynolds equation modified with the Fukui-Kaneko slip correction and a new second order slip correction for the contact situation [1]. The adhesion, contact and friction between the slider and the disk are also considered in the model. It is found that the disk surface roughness, which moves into the head disk interface (HDI) as the disk rotates, excites the bouncing vibrations of the partial contact slider. The frequency spectra of the slider’s bouncing vibration have high frequency components that correspond to the slider-disk contact.

Abstract:
To increase the recording density of magnetic disk drives, the spacing between the flying slider and the rotating disk should be as small as possible. If the spacing between the flying head and the rotating disk approximates the molecular mean-free path, rarefaction effects must be taken into account. Starting from a Poiseuille flow rate database, a simplified precise second order (PSO) model is proposed to simulate ultra-thin gas film lubrication. The new model is evaluated using the finite volume method. The numerical results are compared with other models, including the widely used FK (Fukui and Kaneko) model. The new PSO model has three key advantages compared to other models. First, compared with the 1st-order model, the 2nd-order model and the 1.5th-order model, the PSO model has better accuracy in simulating the air bearing film. Second, the PSO model has a simpler mathematical formulation than the FK model. Third, the PSO model has higher accuracy and requires less computation time than other models including the FK model.

Abstract:
Abstract Generalization of Kane’s equations of motion for elastic multibody systems is considered. Initially, finite element techniques are used to generate the elastic form of generalized coordinates. Then, the number of elastic coordinates are reduced by the component mode synthesis. Finally, Kane’s method is applied to obtain the equations of motion of such systems. Using this method, dynamic model of an elastic robot with one degree of freedom is presented.

Shtuni, Adrian. Domosdoshmëria e Riintegrimit: Fëmijët e Kthyer në Ballkanin Perëndimor. RESOLVE Network, February 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.37805/pn2021.1.wb.
