Abstract:
Like all other world religions, Brahmanism and Buddhism, the two prominent religious traditions of India, have histories of development and transformations since their inception. Depending on the socio-economic and political scenario, religions are subject to change, often in their basic beliefs and rituals, and at a certain point of time, the interaction between diverse religious traditions also becomes inevitable. Although opponent by nature in their early philosophies, Buddhism and Brahmanism got entwined at a certain phase of history, when many Buddhist deities and rituals were accommodated within the purview of Brahmanism and vice-versa. In the history of Brahmanical tradition, this interaction is traceable in the narratives of Puranic texts composed during the first millennium years of the Christian Era (ce). For the present study, one such Puranic text: the Kalikapurana, composed in Kamarupa (early Assam) during the early-medieval period, has been taken into account to understand the process of interaction between Brahmanism and Buddhism in the historical context of early Assam. Being primarily Brahmanical religious texts, the Puranas contain traces of Buddhism only in ‘covert’ form: in the form of myth. Focussing on some myths narrated in the Kalikapurana, the present study will discuss the existence of Buddhism in the early-Brahmaputra valley prior to the coming of Brahmanism. It will help us to understand the strategies adopted by the immigrant Brahmins to accommodate the prevailing traits under the purview of Brahmanical Hinduism.

Abstract:
Fakoemülsifikasyon cerrahisi sonrası akut kornea ödemi gelişen bir katarakt olgusunda, Descemet membran dekolmanının (DMD) ayırıcı tanı ve tedavisini sunmayı amaçladık. 52 yaşındaki bayan hasta, sol gözde rutin fakoemülsifikasyon cerrahisi sonrası postoperatif 16. gün farkedilen DMD’ye sekonder akut kornea ödemi ve görme bozukluğu şikayeti ile kiniğe başvuruyor. Olgunun postoperatif 16. gün kontrolünde görme keskinliği sağ gözde 0.8, sol gözde ise 50cm’den parmak sayma düzeyinde olduğu görüldü. Biyomikroskobik muayenede sağ gözde nükleer skleroz, sol gözde üst temporal bölge hariç yaygın kornea ödemi izlenmekteydi. Göz içi basınçları her iki gözde normaldi. Fundus muayenesinde sağ doğal, solda net olarak değerlendirilememekle beraber göz dibi ultrasonografik olarak normaldi. DMD’den şüphelenilerek anterior segment optik kohorens tomografi (ASOCT) çekildi. ASOCT görüntülerinde korneal epitelyal ve stromal ödem altında ikinci bir ön kamara oluşturan hiperreflektif bant fark edilmiştir. Hastaya DMD ve buna bağlı kornea ödemi tanısı konarak, ön kamaraya perfloropropan (C3F8) enjeksiyonu yapıldı. Enjeksiyonu takip eden 3. günde, parasantral descemet kırışıklıkları dışında kornea saydamdı, ön kamarada superiorda gaz mevcut idi ve görme keskinliği 0,2 düzeyine çıkmıştı. Bu olgu bize 14 günü aşan DMD’lerde intrakamaral gaz enjeksiyonlarının etkili bir tedavi yöntemi olabileceğini göstermektedir.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Background: Cancer contributes to significant morbidity and mortality despite advances in treatment and supportive care. There is a need for the identification of effective anticancer agents. Reptiles such as tortoise, python, and water monitor lizards are exposed to heavy metals, tolerate high levels of radiation, feed on rotten/germ-infested feed, thrive in unsanitary habitat and yet have prolonged lifespans. Such species are rarely reported to develop cancer, suggesting the presence of anticancer molecules/mechanisms. Methods: Here, we tested effects from sera of Asian water monitor lizard (Varanus salvator), python (Malayopython reticulatus) and tortoise (Cuora kamaroma amboinensis) against cancer cells. Sera were collected and cytotoxicity assays were performed using prostate cancer cells (PC3), Henrietta Lacks cervical adenocarcinoma cells (HeLa) and human breast adenocarcinoma cells (MCF7), as well as human keratinized skin cells (Hacat), by measuring lactate dehydrogenase release as an indicator for cell death. Growth inhibition assays were performed to determine the effects on cancer cell proliferation. Liquid chromatography mass spectrometry was performed for molecular identification. Results: The findings revealed that reptilian sera, but not bovine serum, abolished viability of Hela, PC3 and MCF7 cells. Samples were subjected to liquid chromatography mass spectrometry, which detected 57 molecules from V. salvator, 81 molecules from Malayopython reticulatus and 33 molecules from C. kamaroma amboinensis and putatively identified 9 molecules from V. salvator, 20 molecules from Malayopython reticulatus and 9 molecules from C. kamaroma amboinensis when matched against METLIN database. Based on peptide amino acid composition, binary profile, dipeptide composition and pseudo-amino acid composition, 123 potential Anticancer Peptides (ACPs) were identified from 883 peptides from V. salvator, 306 potential ACPs from 1074 peptides from Malayopython reticulatus and 235 potential ACPs from 885 peptides from C. kamaroma amboinensis. Conclusion: To our knowledge, for the first time, we reported comprehensive analyses of selected reptiles’ sera using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry, leading to the identification of potentially novel anticancer agents. We hope that the discovery of molecules from these animals will pave the way for the rational development of new anticancer agents.

Abstract:
The Belai beel serves as an important aquatic resource for the livelihood of the local community of the Gazipur district in Bangladesh. However, water pollution in recent times, mainly from industrial wastes and sewage effluents, may disrupt its aquatic environment. Thus, the purpose of the present study was to assess the potential area of pen fish culture in the Belai beel. The study was performed in the Rajbagan (L1), Kamaria (L2) and Rewla (L3) areas of the Belai beel. Grass carp, silver carp, common carp, catla and rui of 20–30 cm in size were stocked at a rate of 15,000 fish/ha and reared for 150 days in pens installed in the L1, L2 and L3 areas, respectively. The fishes were fed with mustard oil cake and rice bran. Maximum fish production was found in Rewla (12.97 ton/ha/150 days) compared to Rajbagan (8.85 ton/ha/150 days) and Kamaria (10.67 ton/ha/150 days) due to it having comparatively good quality water. There were significant differences in metal ion concentrations (p < 0.05) among the three fish pens. In the Rajbagan area, concentrations of Cd and Cu in the water coming from the industrial effluent canal exceeded the acceptable limit. Results indicated that the Rewla area was better than Rajbagan and Kamaria due to it having relatively good quality water for pen fish culture.

Abstract:
Scottish-born stylist, Ray Petri, founder of the maverick Buffalo Collective, defined the look and feel of radical 1980s fashion magazines such as i-D, The Face and Arena. The Buffalo Boy look pioneered a more sexually ambiguous form of fashion iconography, undermining the putative immutability of normative codes of gender and sexuality and communicating a new image of masculinity. Previous conviction that the Buffalo spirit died with its founder has been upended by a new generation tapping into the Buffalo legacy, notably British-Ghanaian photographer, model-casting agent and publisher, Campbell Addy, and West African stylist, Ibrahim Kamara – both former interns of original Buffalo Collective members. This article explores how Addy and Kamara’s imagery interrogates the fragile relationship between menswear and masculinity, underpinned by intersectional issues of sex, race, faith and identity. Breaking down the construct of hegemonic masculinity, this article compares contemporary works by Addy and Kamara with the output of Buffalo to argue that the Buffalo spirit is evolving in how Addy and Kamara address notions of authenticity, exploit cross-cultural influences and transcend binary oppositions – redefining modern masculinity.

Abstract:
The verb system of the Albanian language in its present form is quite rich in different tense and modal forms. Some of them are inherited from the oldest stages of the language, others are relatively new internal creations. Although this verb form has been studied by a number of prominent albanologists such as F. Bopp (1854) (Franz Bopp), G. Meyer (1888) (Gustav Meyer), H. Pedersen (1895) (Holger Pedersen), Dh. Kamarda (1864) (Dhimitër Kamarda), Gj. Pekmezi (1908) (Gjergj Pekmez), M. Domi (1961) (Mahir Domi), Sh. Demiraj (1986) (Shaban Demiraj), its origin and development remain unclear and many questions remain open. In this paper, we deal with its historical development, its use, and we will give the opinions of other well-known linguists about this verb form. We will also analyse two books in terms of how much the optative is used in the standard language and how much in the dialect. Based on the analysis of specific examples, we concluded that the optative mood in the Albanian language is more commonly used in old texts, ballads, folktales, and dialects, and it is increasingly less utilised in standard literature, indicating a trend towards reduction, similar to what occurs in other Indo-European languages.

Abstract:
In an oral discourse passed down through many generations, the village elder Vase Kamara describes how a slave named Zo Musa Kòma founded the ancient town of Musadu in Guinea-Conakry, and he explains how the legendary Kamara ancestor Foningama later became a leader in Musadu. We tentatively date some elements of the Zo Musa stories to about the fourteenth and fifteenth century, when the Manding began to assimilate and push the Southwestern and Eastern Mande-speaking peoples from the Musadu area in the Konyan to the forest. Some of the Foningama related accounts seem to correspond to the era when the Kamara who settled in the Konyan became active in the sixteenth-century Mane “invasions.”Stories about Musadu's founding provide information about these movements and help bridge the histories of the savanna and forest peoples who live in Guinea, Côte d'Ivoire, and Liberia. The Musadu legend links the Konyaka to their kinsmen who live in the traditional heartland of the Mali empire in present-day northern Guinea and southern Mali. In addition, some Manding, Vai, Loma, Gola, Kpelle, Konor, Dan, and Mano trace their origins to Musadu, and reflect one Loma writer's claim that “all of the tribes in Liberia are from Musadu, or have some association with Musadu” (Korvali 1960:7).The main actors are Manding (Mandekan) speakers who migrated to the Mau/Gbè and Konyan regions of western Côte d'Ivoire and southern Guinea respectively. The Mauka/Gbèka and Konyaka are members of the Northern Mande language group and are classified as Maninka (Malinke). The Bamana (Bambara), Dyula (Jula), and Vai are other Northern Mande speakers. Vase claims that Foningama was Manding, and that Zo Musa was Kpelle. The Kpelle, Loma, and Konor are Southwestern Mande speakers, and the Dan (Gio) and Mano are Eastern Mande speakers.

Abstract:
AbstractKapellasite, Cu3Zn(OH)6Cl2, is a new secondary mineral from the Sounion No. 19 mine, Kamariza, Lavrion, Greece. It is a polymorph of herbertsmithite. Kapellasite forms crusts and small aggregates up to 0.5 mm, composed of bladed or needle-like indistinct crystals up to 0.2 mm long. The colour is green-blue, the streak is light green-blue. There is a good cleavage parallel to ﹛0001﹜. Kapellasite is uniaxial negative, ω = 1.80(1), ε = 1.76(1); pleochroism is distinct, with E = pale green, O = green-blue. Dmeas = 3.55(10) g/cm3; Dcalc. = 3.62 g/cm3. Electron microprobe analyses of the type material gave CuO 58.86, ZnO 13.92, NiO 0.03, CoO 0.03, Fe2O3 0.04, Cl 16.70, H2O (calc.) 12.22, total 101.80, less O = Cl 3.77, total 98.03 wt.%. The empirical formula is (Cu3.24Zn0.75)Σ3.99(OH)5.94Cl2.06, based on 8 anions. The five strongest XRD lines are [d in Å (I/I0, hkl)] 5.730 (100, 001), 2.865 (11, 002), 2.730 (4, 200), 2.464 (9, 021/201), 1.976 (5, 022/202). Kapellasite is trigonal, space group Pml, unit-cell parameters (from single-crystal data) a = 6.300(1), c = 5.733(1) Å, V= 197.06(6) Å3, Z = 1. The crystal structure of kapellasite is based on brucite-like sheets parallel to (0001), built from edge-sharing distorted M(OH,Cl)6 (M = Cu, Zn) octahedra. The sheets stack directly on each other (…AAA… stacking). Bonding between adjacent sheets is only due to weak hydrogen and O…C1 bonds. The name is in honour of Christo Kapellas (1938–2004), collector and mineral dealer from Kamariza, Lavrion, Greece.

Abstract: Founded by Corinthians in Sicily in the 8th century, Syracuse soon became one of the biggest and more powerful poleis of the Greek world. During the first century of life in Sicily, the Syracusans founded in the hinterland four other settlements: Heloros, Akrai, Kasmene and Kamarina. This article intends to demonstrate, through the description of material data, that: 1. These foundations were enabled thanks to negotiation with local people and that Syracusan expansion was not exclusively a military/violent one; 2. Through these foundations, Syracuse established boundaries for its initial territorial expansion; 3. The empty space between Syracuse and these boundaries were filled up by degrees and in different conditions; 4. That this movement made by Syracuse allows us to better understand an inherent characteristic of the Greek ‘way of being’, i.e., territorial control.

Abstract:
At the Lavrion mine, area, near the village of Kamariza, an oxidized mineralization unusually rich in bismuth, gold, antimony and copper has been studied. Three different parageneses have been recognized and described: a) a copper-rich assemblage, containing chalcopyrite, chalcocine, digenite, covelline, azurite, malachite and georgeite, b) a bismuth-gold-rich assemblage, consisting of native bismuth, bismuthinite, native gold, bismite, bismutite, beyerite, kettnerite, preisingerite, rooseveltite and mixité and c) an antimony-rich one, comprising stibiconite, bindheimite, mimetite and gartrellite. The mineral study suggests that the primary mineralization should consist of pyrite ± arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, bismuthinite (and/or bismuth sulphosalts), native bismuth, maldonite (which has been exsoluted to gold and bismuth) and bournonite. The oxidation of this primary mineralization and the reac ion with supergene solutions containing significant amounts of HCO3" and HAsCV2 - H2ASO4", caused the formation of 17 secondary minerals.

Abstract:
Vein-type Pb-Ni-Bi-Au-Ag mineralization at the Clemence deposit in the Kamariza and “km3” in the Lavrion area, was synchronous with the intrusion of a Miocene granodiorite body and related felsic and mafic dikes and sills within marbles and schists in the footwall of (and within) the Western Cycladic detachment system. In the Serpieri deposit (Kamariza area), a porphyry-style pyrrhotite-arsenopyrite mineralized microgranitic dike is genetically related to a garnet-wollastonite bearing skarn characterized by a similar base metal and Ni (up to 219 ppm) enrichment. The Ni–Bi–Au association in the Clemence deposit consists of initial deposition of pyrite and arsenopyrite followed by an intergrowth of native gold-bismuthinite and oscillatory zoned gersdorffite. The zoning is related to variable As, Ni, and Fe contents, indicating fluctuations of arsenic and sulfur fugacity in the hydrothermal fluid. A late evolution towards higher sulfur fugacity in the mineralization is evident by the deposition of chalcopyrite, tennantite, enargite, and galena rimming gersdorffite. At the “km3” locality, Ni sulfides and sulfarsenides, vaesite, millerite, ullmannite, and polydymite, are enclosed in gersdorffite and/or galena. The gersdorffite is homogenous and contains less Fe (up to 2 wt.%) than that from the Clemence deposit (up to 9 wt.%). Bulk ore analyses of the Clemence ore reveal Au and Ag grades both exceeding 100 g/t, Pb and Zn > 1 wt.%, Ni up to 9700 ppm, Co up to 118 ppm, Sn > 100 ppm, and Bi > 2000 ppm. The “km3” mineralization is enriched in Mo (up to 36 ppm), Ni (>1 wt.%), and Co (up to 1290 ppm). Our data further support a magmatic contribution to the ore-forming fluids, although remobilization and leaching of metals from previous mineralization and/or host rocks, through the late involvement of non-magmatic fluid in the ore system, cannot be excluded.

Abstract:
Subject area Capital budgeting and investment. Study level/applicability Undergraduate level. Case overview Ms Kamariza, a young Rwandan citizen, established the non-profit organization “Solid Africa” in December 2010. She created the organization together with young professionals, friends and family members with the aim of supporting the most socioeconomically vulnerable individuals’ needs for medical, hygiene, emotional and food services. Ms Kamariza became the Chief Executive Officer and her sister the Chief Financial Officer; together with the help of other additional volunteer staff they carry out this important work. The founders have done an excellent job of maintaining the organization for five years, feeding an average of 1,000 patients every day, and gaining widespread favorable reputation. However, the organization has heavily relied on donations through fundraising events and member contributions (currently 148 members). In 2011, the founders decided that the organization should become self-reliant by planning to build an industrial kitchen, which would cater to different companies (new customers) while also providing free meals to socioeconomically vulnerable patients. This kitchen is foreseen to continuously generate revenue and profits. Expected learning outcomes The case is aimed at undergraduate students, pursuing their bachelor, management or social science studies. The teaching is mainly suited for students focused in the fields of social entrepreneurship, finance and social innovation. Students should be able to demonstrate the challenges faced by social entrepreneurs in their quest for capital investment; they should understand how management biases can affect business decision-making; they should also demonstrate the importance of capital budgeting techniques in a social enterprise to achieve better investment decision-making. The purpose of this study is to analyze the judge's decision in case number: 132/Pdt.P/2019/PA.Gtloviewed from the Compilation of Islamic Law This research uses a normative-empirical legal research type, where an analysis of the written law is carried out with factual events in the field. In this study, the data sources used are primary data consisting of the results of interviews and field observations, the Civil Code, ILC, and judges' decisions related to the issues being discussed; and secondary data (supporting) scientific works, and other sources related to the problems discussed. The results of the study show that first, the substitute heirs proposed by the applicants in case no. 132/Pdt.P/2019/PA.Gtlo from the late. Zubaida Datau may become a substitute heir based on the provisions formulated in the Compilation of Islamic Law (ILC), provided that the plot of land is the property of the late. Saini Datau. However, if the plot of land is the property of the Almh. Kamaria Datau, then the substitute heir proposed by the applicant, must be declared not accepted by the panel of judges at the Gorontalo PA because he is prevented from becoming an heir based on the ILC formulation. Legal considerations of the panel of judges examining case No. 132/Pdt.P/2019/PA.Gtlo, where the case is declared unacceptable, is that it is unclear/fuzzy, no longer voluntary, but a contentious case, because it contains a dispute between the heirs of the deceased's heirs. Abstract:
“An only son must never die in war until the end of the world.”(Seydou Camara, “Bilali of Faransekila,” 1:396)Discussing the significance of Kande Kamara's oral history of West African experiences in the First World War, Joe Harris Lunn observes that, although historians have begun to examine the effects of that war on west Africa, their studies are mostly based on written sources, “and therefore shed little light on the lived reality of the war for the African masses whose perceptions of their experiences were never recorded.” Of particular value then, is the oral history provided by the Guinean veteran Kande Kamara, offering as it does an opportunity for assessing the European war's impact on west Africans. Lunn finds, however, that west African soldiers who served in France during the First World War have left very few records of either their wartime experiences or its effects on their later lives. The text by the late Malian hunters' singer Seydou Camara that is presented here helps to redress this lamentable deficiency because, although it is a step or two removed from the sort of firsthand eyewitness account offered by Kande Kamara, it provides valuable support for and confirmation of certain elements of Kande Kamara's testimony. Composed and sung by Seydou Camara, “Bilali of Faransekila” provides us with an oral traditional counterpart to Kande Kamara's firsthand account.

Vojislav Šešelj a Szerb Csetnik mozgalom alapítója volt, amelyet 1990 decemberében betiltottak a jugoszláv hatóságok. Az 1991 februárjában létrehozott Szerb radikális Párt elnöke, 1991 júniusától a Szerb köztársaság közgyűlésének választott tagja. A délszláv háborúban aktív szerepet játszott. A háromfős bírói tanács 2:1 arányban döntött. Flavia Lattanzi bíró figyelemre méltó kritikai észrevételekből építette fel részletes és terjedelmes különvéleményét. Az ügyészség fellebbezett az elsőfokú tanács döntése ellen, így a döntés nem jogerős.
