Abstract:

AbstractThis article is a retelling of the Sharr Bubba Jihad as it unfolded in Kajoor (present-day Senegal) in which I attempt to set aright an instance of ontological violence in the existing secondary literature. I attempt to correct this first through an exposition of how the prevailing academic history is complicit in the continual colonization of African history. Secondly, I explain how Eurocentric discourses relegate African women to ancillary bearers of children, hewers of wood, and drawers of water. I further explain that the relationships between gender and authority in African histories do not align with the European “template” explaining the position and role of lingeer. Thirdly, I give the details of the Sharr Bubba Jihad in Kajoor through a rereading of the sources, making sure to name Lingeer Yacine Bubu, and contextualizing the role of the lingeer in Kajoor and the other Senegambian kingdoms.

Abstract:

Following the late fifteenth- and sixteenth-century cavalry revolution in Senegambia, the horse and slave trade became a major sector of the desert-edge political economy. Black African states imported horses from North Africa and the western Sahara in exchange for slaves. Over time, under conditions of increasing aridity, the zone of desert horse-breeding was pushed south, and through crossbreeding with the small disease-resistant indigenous horses of the savanna, new breeds were created. Although the savanna remained an epidemiologically hostile environment for the larger and more desirable horses bred in North Africa, in the high desert and along the desert fringe, Black African states continued to import horses in exchange for slaves into the period of French colonial rule.The evidence assembled on the horse trade into northern Senegambia raises the difficult issue of the relative quantitative importance of the Atlantic and Saharan/North African slave trades and calls into question the assumption that the Atlantic slave trade was the larger of the two. Most available evidence concerns the Wolof kingdoms of Waalo and Kajoor. It suggests that the volume of slaves exported north into the desert from Waalo in the late seventeenth century was probably at least ten times as great as the volume of slaves exported into the Atlantic slave trade. For both Waalo and Kajoor, this ratio declined during the first half of the eighteenth century as slave exports into the Atlantic markets increased. The second half of the eighteenth century saw an increase in predatory raiding from the desert which produced an additional flow of north-bound slaves. For Waalo and Kajoor – and probably for the other Black African states of northern Senegambia – the flow of slaves north to Saharan and North African markets probably remained the larger of the two export volumes over the eighteenth century. This northward flow of slaves continued strong after the abolition of the Atlantic slave trade and was only shut down with the imposition of French colonial authority.

The author shows how copyright was legally regulated and how it could have led to infringement, through methods of (re)printing of Plan von Sarajevo und Umgebung. Participants of this legal case are well known to public, as writers, owners and editors of respectable journals and printing houses. For this reason, this case deserves some special attention.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis peran Alokasi Dana Desa bagi peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat Desa Kajar Tengguli. Data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder, data primer didapatkan saat melakukan penelitian di lokasi penelitaian, sedangkan data sekunder didapatkan dari jurnal, penelitian terdahulu dan beberapa referensi lainnya. Objek penelitian ini adalah Desa Kajar Tenguli Kecamatan Prambon Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif melalui deskriptif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (1)Untuk mengetahui pengelolaan Alokasi Dana Desa (ADD) di Desa Kajar Tengguli Kecamatan Prambon Kabupaten Sidoarjo, (2) Untuk mengetahui peran Alokasi Dana Desa (ADD) bagi peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat Desa Kajar Tengguli Kecamatan Prambon Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Hasil penelitian ini adalah peran Alokasi Dana Desa bagi peningktan masyarakat Desa Kajar Tengguli sebagai berikut, Meningkatkan tingkat kesehatan mayarakat Desa Kajar Tengguli, Meningkatkan tingkat pendidikan di Desa Kajar Tengguli, Meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat Desa Kajar Tengguli. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari adanya peningkatan dalam beberapa indikator kesejahteraan, mulai dari tingkat pendapatan, tingkat kesehatan, tingkat pendidikan, tingkat perumahan dan tingkat pengeluaran konsumsi masyarakat. Abstract:

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplor nilai moderasi beragama ala pasengna Kajao Laliddong yang termuat dalam naskah Latoa dengan mengkorelasikan konsep moderasi beragama yang ditawarkan oleh Kementerian Agama. Kajao Laliddong merupakan cendikiawan, negarawan dan diplomat dari Tana Bone yang dikenal pada masa kecilnya dengan La Mellong. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan sejarah, filologi, dan antropologi. Penelitian ini berfokus pada moderasi beragama yang terdapat dalam manuskrip yang tersimpan pada koleksi lembaga maupun pribadi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwasanya Kajao Laliddong memiliki paseng yang sampai saat ini paseng ini terjiwai dalam diri masyarakat khususnya masyarakat Bugis. Paseng tersebut termuat dalam naskah Latoa sebagain termuat dalam Boeginische Chrestomatthie (B.CHr) dan tersimpan dengan cermat pada perpustakaan Universitas Leiden. Pappaseng yang diberikan Kajao Laliddong kepada Arumpone mengupayakan sebuah internalisasi nilai-nilai agama yang kemudian menjadi sebuah landasan moral, etika, spiritual dalam menjalani kehidupan berbangsa dan bernegara. Paseng itu termuat dalam naskah Latoa sebanyak 31 alinea yang saling berkesinambungan satu sama lain. Interpretasi dan implementasi moderasi beragama dalam Pasengna Kajao Laliddong yang termuat pada naskah latoa memuat pesan keagamaan yang dapat dijumpai pada beberapa Alinea pada pasengna Kajao Laliddong yang termuat dalam Latoa. Seperti mewujudkan perdamaian, menjunjung tinggi keadaban mulia, menjaga keselamatan jiwa dan sebagainya.

Abstract:

Merujuk kondisi pada Kecamatan Lowokwaru terjadi pengurangan luas areal sawah yang disebabkan meningkatnya alih fungsi lahan sawah menjadi pemukiman penduduk. Studi ini bertujuan mengetahui perubahan sistem jaringan irigasi yang mempengaruhi sistem distribusi air pada D.I .Kajar 2D, 2E, 2F, dan 2G lalu di dadapatkan0selisih efisiensi penggunaan air pada D.I. tersebut. Studi ini dilakukan menggunakan data tahun 2012 dan 2017 yang meliputi analisa perbandingan luasan sawah menggunakan aplikasi Arc GIS. Analisa eksisting kondisi jaringan irigasi untuk perbandingan kebutuhan air bersih sawah. Dan analisa hasil selisih efisiensi penggunaan kebutuhan air untuk menunjukkan masih layak atau tidak untuk mengairi sawah yang berkurang karena alih fungsi lahan di tiap D.I. tersebut. Hasil dari studi meliputi analisa perbandingan luas area sawah pada tiap D.I. yaitu kehilangan 9%, kehilangan 7%,kehilangan 18% dan kehilangan 6%. Analisa selisih efisiensi penggunaan kebutuhan air pada tiap DI yaitu kenaikan 10.5%, kenaikan 24.33%, kenaikan 40.55% dan menurun 34.8%.

Abstract:

The role of indigenous musical performances in traditional festivals has been very significant in the lives of Africans. In Ghana, some of such festivals are pivoted on particular distinctive natures of the indigenous music. One of such musical genres is the Abele music performed by the people of Yeji in the Bono-East region of Ghana. This music is formalized in the context of the Kajoji festival celebrated annually by the community. Through ethnographic research design, the study documents the role of Abele music in the context of the Yeji Kajoji annual festival. The reason is to add to the literature of traditional music scholarship in Ghana while the source materials from the music can be used in the music classroom for music learning. In dealing with the study, participant’s observation and interview were used to collect the needed data. Participants for the study included some purposely selected members of the Abele musical ensemble as well as the paramount chief of the area. It was found out that the Kajoji festival is a very vital mainspring of the traditional education and the remit of the people’s culture while the Abele music serves as the side attraction of this festival.

Abstract:

An experiment was arranged to evaluate the morpho-physiological characters, yield and quality of local landrace chilli germplasms, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, from October 2013 to July 2014. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications. Among germplasms, maximum plant height (59.5 cm) and leaves (84.1) from ‘Kajoli’. Number of branches (33.1) was from ‘Akashi’ minimum (18.6) from ‘Dongfou’, chlorophyll content (56.9%) was obtained from ‘Kajoli’, whereas minimum (48.9%) was obtained from ‘Dongfou’. Leaf area highest (125.8 cm2) from ‘Dongfou’, whereas lowest (62.38 cm2) from ‘Deshi kacha Morich’; was recorded as at 85 DAT. Highest flowers plant-1 (68.7), number of fruits plant¬-1 (268.3) were found in ‘Kajoli’, whilst lowest (24.6) and (61.42) were for ‘Dongfou’. Maximum vitamin-C was found in green and dry chilli fruits (76.44 mg/100g and 42.55 mg/100g), of the germplasm ‘Akashi’ and minimum vitamin-C was recorded in green and dry fruits from ‘Deshi kacha morich’. The germplasm ‘Akashi’ gave the highest fresh fruits yield (18.1 t ha-1), followed by Deshi kacha morich (16.9 t ha-1) and Bogra morich produced the lowest fresh yield (13.3 t ha-1). In view of overall performances, So, Akashi with was best for higher fruit, yield and quality chilli production.

Abstract:

Internalisasi Nilai-Nilai Karakter Melalui Kegiatan Ekstrakurikuler Pramuka (Studi Kasus di SDK Wae Kajong). Manusia yang karakter baik adalah produk dari sebuah proses pendidikan. Baik pendidikan formal maupun non-formal. Salah satu institusi pendidikan formal yang berupaya menelorkan manusia yang berkarakter baik adalah pendidikan dasar. Salah satu kegiatan di institusi pendidikan dasar, khususnya di SD, yang sarat dengan internalisasi nilai-nilai karakter baik, adalah kegiatan ekstra kurikuler pramuka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai karakter yang ditumbuhkembangkan dan diinternalisasikan melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pramuka di SDK Wae Kajong. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif, rancangan studi kasus. Sumber data penelitian ini, yakni sumber data insani dan non-insani.Teknik pengumpulan yang digunakan: (1) wawancara mendalam, (2) obrsevasi, dan (3) studi dokumentasi. Instrument kunci dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri. Data dianalisis dalam tiga sub-proses, yakni: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Untuk menjamin validitas dan kredibilitas data, maka peneliti melakukan pemeriksaan terhadap data dengan menggunakan trianggulasi teknik dan sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai yang ditumbuhkembangkan dan dihayati melalui kegiatan pramuka, di SDK Wae Kajong adalah percaya diri, kreatif, teliti, kerja sama, komunikatif, dialog, berpikir solutif, peduli terhadap alam, respect terhadap orang lain, mandiri, rendah hati, tenggang rasa, tegar, sederhana, solider, disiplin, rapi, sopan, tangkas, tanggung jawab, kepemimpinan, pengendalian diri, mendengarkan orang lain, konsentrasi, menaati aturan, dan ingin tahu.

Abstract:

Anemia gizi besi merupakan masalah gizi mikro terbesar di Indonesia. Berdasarkan data Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas) 2013, prevalensi anemia secara nasional pada semua kelompok umur sebesar 21,7%. Faktor yang melatarbelakangi tingginya prevalensi anemia di negara berkembang adalah keadaan sosial, perilaku, kurangnya asupan zat besi dan pengetahuan tentang anemia. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan, sikap dan keterampilan kader posyandu terhadap pencegahan anemia pada pengunjung posyandu. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan melakukan edukasi dan pelatihan melalui penyuluhan dan demonstrasi pembuatan makanan bergizi (Puding Kajoji) sebagai alternatif pencegahan anemia kepada 20 orang kader posyandu di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Puntikayu. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada rata-rata peningkatan pengetahuan sebesar 1 poin, sikap sebesar 0,95 poin dan keterampilan dalam membuat salah satu produk makanan (Puding Kajoji) untuk mencegah anemia sebesar 2 poin.

Abstract:

Artykuł przedstawia sylwetkę Jana Kajzera (1892-1976), salezjanina, wychowawcy i autora wielu projektów z zakresu sztuki użytkowej, wieloletniego nauczyciela i dyrektora szkoły zawodowej w Zakładzie Salezjańskim im. Księdza Bosko w Oświęcimiu. Kierował tamtejszą placówką dydaktyczną w trudnych latach. Szkolnictwo salezjańskie w Polsce osiągnęło największy rozwój w roku szkolnym 1947/48, po czym do 1963 r. następowała stopniowa likwidacja i upaństwowienie 20 szkół salezjańskich w kraju. Jan Kajzer był autorem wielu projektów mebli – głównie kościelnych, tkanin i prac malarskich, które zaskarbiły mu uznanie w środowisku sztuki. Prywatnie odznaczał się wielką pobożnością, kierując się wzorem założyciela ks. Jana Bosko. Artykuł niniejszy dowodzi, że koadiutor Jan Kajzer może być postrzegany jako wybitny przedstawiciel zgromadzenia salezjanów w Polsce, obok kard. Augusta Hlonda, abp. Antoniego Baraniaka czy koadiutorów: Klemensa Hlonda i Szymona Szmergalskiego.

Abstract:

We present a comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of the Utaka, an informal taxonomic group of cichlid species from Lake Malawi. We analyse both nuclear and mtDNA data from five Utaka species representing two (Copadichromis and Mchenga) of the three genera within Utaka. Within three of the five analysed species we find two very divergent mtDNA lineages. These lineages are widespread and occur sympatrically in conspecific individuals in different areas throughout the lake. In a broader taxonomic context including representatives of the main groups within the Lake Malawi cichlid fauna, we find that one of these lineages clusters within the non-Mbuna mtDNA clade, while the other forms a separate clade stemming from the base of the Malawian cichlid radiation. This second mtDNA lineage was only found in Utaka individuals, mostly within Copadichromis sp. “virginalis kajose” specimens. The nuclear genes analysed, on the other hand, did not show traces of divergence within each species. We suggest that the discrepancy between the mtDNA and the nuclear DNA signatures is best explained by a past hybridisation event by which the mtDNA of another species introgressed into the ancestral Copadichromis sp. “virginalis kajose” gene pool.

Daerah Irigasi Kajar (DI) Kajar 2C merupakan jaringan irigasi di Kota Malang dengan luas areal sawah 21,61 Ha. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaksimalkan pendapatan petani dari jenis tanaman lokal yang biasa dikembangkan, yaitu padi dan palawija (jagung, ubi kayu, dan kacang tanah). Metode optimasi yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan program linier melalui model matematis dengan bantuan solver dari software Microsoft Excel. Skenario optimasi pola tanam terdiri dari 3 alternatif, yaitu: (1) Padi/Padi/Padi; (2) Padi/Padi/Jagung-Kacang Tanah; dan (3) Ubi Kayu-Kacang Tanah/Jagung/Jagung. Masing-masing alternatif pola tanam disimulasikan dengan awal tanam Oktober I, Oktober II, dan Oktober III. Berdasarkan hasil optimasi, keuntungan tertinggi diperoleh dengan menerapkan pola tanam polikultur X5 seluas 7,203 Ha; X6 seluas 10,78 Ha; dan X8 seluas 3,627 Ha. Total keuntungan maksimal yang diberikan adalah sebesar Rp. 146.888.280

Entrepreneurs getuk nyimut attracted consumers with the products and services. MSMEs give some facilities to the outlets such as wifi and music. It could be innovation strategies to improving business. Getuk Nyimut’s Entrepreneur need to increase their ability to innovate and create marketing performance. This capability could be built through increasing social capital and human capital. This study aimed to solve the inconsistencies of previous research. The research data source was primary data from questionnaires filled out by respondents. The research sample was 31 getuk nyimut’s entrepreneurs located in Kajar Village. This study used the Structural Equation Modeling analysis technique with the PLS program. The result of this research showed that Social Capital has a positive and significant effect on Inovation Capability, Human Capital has a positive and significant effect on Inovation Capability, Social Capital has no effect on Marketing Performance, Human Capital has insignificant effect on Marketing Performance, Inovation Capability has insignificant effect on Marketing Performance. ABSTRAK UMKM Getuk Nyimut memberi kontribusi kepada perekonomian masyarakat sekitar desa Kajar Kabupaten Kudus. Persaingan UMKM getuk nyimut mulai tumbuh seiring dengan banyaknya usaha yang berdiri. Pengusaha getuk nyimut menarik konsumen melalui produk dan layanan yang diberikan. Fasilitas yang ditambahkan pada gerai adalah dengan melengkapi wifi dan musik. Hal tersebut menjadi salah satu strategi inovasi UMKM dalam meningkatkan usaha. Pemilik UMKM perlu meningkatkan kemampuan inovasi untuk menciptakan kinerja pemasaran. Kemampuan tersebut dapat dibangun melalui peningkatan modal social dan human capital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan kontribusi adanya inkonsitensi penelitian sebelumnya. Sumber data penelitian merupakan data primer yang berbentuk kuesioner dari responden penelitian. Sampel penelitian adalah 31 pengusaha getuk nyimut yang berlokasi di Desa Kajar. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah Structural Equation Modeling melalui program PLS. Kompleks kubur peti batu di Gunung Kidul tersebut telah diteliti oleh J.L. Moens pada tahun 1934, kemudian dilanjutkan oleh van der Hoop pada tahun berikutnya. Kompleks kubur peti batu tersebut antara lain terdapat di Kajar, Sokoliman, dan Bleberan. Pada kubur peti batu di Kajar ditemukan 35 individu bertumpukan pada kedalaman 80 cm dengan bekal kubur berupa beberapa alat dari besi, antara lain arit. Temuan lain berupa cincin perunggu, sebuah mangkuk terakota berbentuk tempurung, dan ratusan mutisalah. Pada salah satu kerangka ditemukan sebilah pedang besi yang telah patah, dipegang di tangan kiri, sedangkan pada pedang itu sendiri masih melekat bekas-bekas tenunan kasar. Kubur peti batu yang di temukan di Bleberan berisi tiga rangka manusia bertumpukan dalam posisi terlentang dengan kepala di sebelah utara. Tiga buah benda besi terletak di atas dada rangka yang paling atas. Cincin tembaga, pisau besi, dan beberapa manik -manik tersebar di antara rangka-rangka tersebut (R.P. Soejono, 1984).

Kamar kos harus memenuhi persyaratan luas atau ukuran kamar, jumlah penghuni, luas ventilasi, serta suhu dan kelembaban, sesuai dengan baku mutu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kepadatan penghuni, luas lantai dan luas ventilasi terhadap suhu dan kelembaban di rumah kos Putri Kajor yang berada di Nogotirto, Gamping, Sleman. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah survei dengan menggunakan desain cross sectional, yang hasilnya dianalisis secara deskriptif dan analitik. Jumlah kamar yang diteliti sebanyak 52 buah. Pengukuran kepadatan, luas lantai dan luas ventilasi menggunakan meteran, sementara pengukuran suhu dan kelembaban menggunakan termohigrometer. Secara deskriptif, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kamar yang memenuhi syarat kepadatan penghuni 5 buah (9,6 %), memenuhi syarat luas lantai 5 buah (9,6 %), memenuhi syarat luas ventilasi 49 kamar (94,2 %), memenuhi syarat suhu 52 buah (100 %), dan tidak ada yang memenuhi syarat kelembaban. Hasil analisis statistik pada taraf signifikan 5 % meyimpulkan bahwa kepadatan penghuni, luas lantai dan luas ventilasi berpengaruh terhadap suhu (nilai p = 0,019), namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap kelembaban (nilai p = 0,513).

There are three major coal seams in the Raniganj Formation of Jharia Coalfield, viz., Mahuda, Bhurungia and Lohpiti, in ascending order. The main constituents of the plant fossil assemblage from the roof shale of Lohpiti Seam, thal underlies the Lohpiti Sandstone Member, are the leaf Glossopteris shailae, the Stem Araucarioxylon kumarpurensis and the megaspore Noniasporites harrisii. A similar fossil assemblage has earlier been reported from the roof shales of Kajora Seam that underlies the Kumarpur Sandstone Member of Raniganj Formation in Raniganj Coalfield. The correlatability of Lohpiti Sandstone Member with Kumarpur Sandstone Member is established.

Abstract. Monitoring and mapping eroded lands by gully erosion is an essential step to control gully networks. Advances in remote sensing and aerial photography have enabled users to capture data with variant temporal and spatial resolution that is needed in different fields. In addition, introducing different types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) enabled to carry imaging payload. The orthophoto and digital elevation model (DTM) produced from aerial images taken by Aeria-X camera mounted on Sensefly eBee-X drone was employed to identify and map eroded areas by gully in Kajoo-Gargaroo watershed in Chabahar, south-eastern part of Iran. Digitizing gully boarders manually is a tiring and time-consuming process for the operators. Maximum likelihood algorithm as one of the machine learning algorithm was also used to classify orthophoto in order to extract gully borders in the study area. In this study a new algorithm based on analysing geometric features and clustering of the DTM was used to map gullies automatically. The results of the proposed method and machine learning algorithm were compared with the manually digitized gully map. Quantitative evaluation demonstrates that our proposed method reaches better overall accuracy compared to machine learning algorithm with the increase of 7.2 percent in overall accuracy.

This study aims to explain the form, meaning, and value of pappaseng in Lontara 'Latoa: Kajao Laliddong with Arummpone by using Paul Ricouer's hermeneutic approach. This research is a qualitative research. The research data are in the form of Lontara 'Latoa: Kajao Laliddong and Arummpone texts. Data collection method used by the author is a library method by gathering information relevant to the topic or problem to be or is being studied. That information can be obtained from scientific books, research reports, scientific essays, theses and dissertations, regulations, provisions, yearbooks, encyclopedias, and written sources both printed and electronic. Data were analyzed using Paul Ricouer's hermeneutic analysis. The results of this study indicate the form of pappaseng in the form of dialogue discourse consisting of expressions and proverbs. The meaning of Pappaseng that was found consisted of three, namely the description of the characteristics of a good leader, a sign of the triumph of the state, and a characteristic of the destruction of the state. These three meanings gave birth to Bugis values including: honesty (alêmpureng), intellectual value (amaccangêng), firmness value (agêttêngêng), and family and love values (assiajingêng).

Berdasarkan permasalahan yang dihadapi, maka akan dilakukan kegiatan terkait manajemen produksi dan pemasaran khususnya pemasraan online. Kegiatan dimulai dengan sosialisasi, pemberian peralatan yang menunjang produksi seperti mesin penghancur bumbu, alat pemanggangan, presto, pemberian bantuan label kemasan dan pelatihan pengemasan serta labeling kemasan, pembuatan media sosial dan pelatihan penggunaan media sosial. Indikator capaian adalah peningkatan jumlah produksi dan efisiensi waktu produksi. kemasan produk yang menarik dan ramah lingkungan, peningkatan pasar produk. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi didapatkan dengan adanya penambahan alat produksi dapat mempercepat proses produksi, meningkatkan jumlah produksi dan menambah varian produk usaha mitra. Geological and geophysical investigations were conducted to assess the competence and structural integrity of the foundation site of the proposed Ife-dam at Kajola Village, Ile-Ife, Southwestern Nigeria. Geological investigation along the two (2) proposed dam axes revealed that the overburden material is loose to dense with angular shearing resistance (ɸ) of 27o to 41o. The soils are predominantly elastic silts; cohesive with considerable strength and stability. Geophysical investigation involving the Schlumberger Vertical Electrical Sounding delineated four (4) lithologies namely: topsoil with resistivity of 69 – 558 Ωm and thickness between 1.5 and 4.0 m; weathered sandy layer with resistivity from 123 – 586 Ωm and thickness between 6.5 and 20.4 m; partially weathered/ fractured basement with resistivity from 60 – 220 Ωm and thickness between 6.5 and 14.0 m; and the fresh basement rock with resistivity from 1337 – 10683 Ωm. There are indications of fractures at a depth of 32 m beneath Axis B extending to Axis A at a depth of 35 m. The subsurface materials are suitable to host a dam. Axis B is more appropriate for the dam axis, although the fracture zone should be factored into the design of the dam to prevent water seepage.

The Revenge of Triglav and Svarog? Fan-Generated Translation Criticism of the English Version of the Comic Book Kajko i Kokosz The article discusses the role of fan communities as critics of translated texts. It shows how fans’ active involvement as prosumers in the production of translational (mock) critical content can affect the promotion and distribution of the official, commercial translation. The case in point is a fan-generated and fan-mediated reception of the English rendition of an album from a classic Polish Kajko i Kokosz comic series. First published in 1975, Szkoła latania (Flying School) is part of Poland’s shared popcultural idiom, since recently also part of the primary school reading canon. Its first English translation (2018) made available in a pre-release to the comic’s fans led to a number of controversies, ranging from humorous internet-mediated discussions of an editing mistake to an open petition to the publisher to preserve in translation the comic’s cultural specificity. The article sets off by discussing the profile of the translation critic emerging from leading models of translation criticism to move on to sketch new developments and the role of fandom and fan-generated criticism. Arguing that currently translations of speculative fiction into and out of English in the Polish context can be considered vulnerable translations, prone to fans’ critical scrutiny, it focuses on Flying School and its fan reception which lead to the prolonged postponement of the publication of the official translation. The article also provides an analysis of the pre-release commercial translation to provide background for the fan criticism. It shows the clash of the translator’s consistent domesticating strategy with fans’ expectations of an exoticizing translation, preserving the Slavic character of the series which raises the question of the translation brief and publisher-translator relationship.

Jelen tanulmányban a Debreceni Egyetemi Atlétikai Club labdarúgó mérkőzéseit látogatók motivációját vizsgáltuk. Kutatási módszerként kérdőívet használtunk, amelyben Kajos et al. (2017) SPEED-H skáláját is alkalmaztuk. A kérdőívet hólabda módszerrel online formában juttattuk el a célcsoporthoz, a minta nagysága 40 fő, akik nagyobbrészt a Debreceni Egyetem hallgatói, dolgozói. A válaszadók többsége 2-10 éve látogatja a DEAC mérkőzéseit. Az eredmények alapján megállapítható, hogy első alkalommal a sport szeretete miatt és a barátok hatására látogattak ki a DEAC mérkőzésére. A SPEED-H skála szerint a válaszadók számára legfőbb motiváló erővel a játék szépsége és izgalma rendelkezik.

Abstract:

Introduction. The paper considers the Ripuarian dialect group spread on the territory of three modern states – Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. The research concentrates on the dialect’s reception by its speakers, while special attention is paid to the language situation in Belgium. Defining the correspondence of state and linguistic borders in this region might be of great current scientific interest.Methodology and sources. The research methodology is based on Russian and foreign studies in dialectology (V. M. Zhirmunskii, F. Münch, W. Haubrichs) and dialectography (K. Haag, A. Bach, J. Kajot and H. Beckers). For the dialects’ characteristics descriptive and comparative methods were used. The analysis of the sociolinguistic situation is based on the works of P. Auer, Th. Frings, J. Kajot and H. Beckers and others. To follow the current dialect speakers’ point of view the data from Belgian Internet-sites and forums were used. Such complex method allows to valuate not only linguogeographic but also the newest extralinguistic facts. Results and discussion. The paper examines the spread and the characteristics of the Ripuarian dialects, the history of their use in Germany, underlining the special role of Cologne’s dialect. The situation with the Ripuarian dialects in modern Eastern Belgium is as well analyzed. Problems of self-identity of the dialect speakers and of dialect’s connection to the High German are also considered.Conclusion. The dependence of linguistic situation in Belgium on political and sociocultural factors, while the state boundaries play a significant role in the self-identity of dialect speakers.
