Abstract:
Kabaddi is a combat sport that also involves physical contact. It is played between two teams, each of which consists of seven players, on a short, flat arena that is 10 metres by 13 metres (male) in size and is separated along the middle by a midline. The men's portion of the game lasts for a total of forty minutes (men's), which is broken up into two halves with a five-minute break in between each one. The game can be broken down into two distinct categories: offence and defence. Raider (the attacker) shall enter the opponent's court by continually repeating the word "Kabaddi"; and attempts to score points by using nis —lb to touch the opponents, or attempts to cross the bonus line. Raider may also attempt to score points by touching the opponents with their own hands. The kabaddi players were selected for the study using a systematic random sample method from the many kabaddi competitions held at the inter-zonal and zonal level.

Abstract:
Introduction: Kabaddi is one of the most popular games, which makes it our national pride. Kabaddi requires a lot of power, strength, flexibility, agility, speed, breath control and wariness. The game comes under contact sports and hence injuries are common. Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a form of manual therapy used to relax the muscles via autogenic or reciprocal inhibition and lengthen the muscle, which uses muscle’s own energy in the form of gentle isometric contraction. The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of MET on improving hamstring muscle flexibility, active knee extension (AKE) range, and agility in high school level kabaddi players. Subjects: 30 female amateur kabaddi players Methodology: 30 high school level Kabaddi players were assessed and selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and assigned into two groups. Group A (experimental n=15) received MET along with conventional exercises and Group B received Conventional flexibility exercises alone for 5 consecutive days. Pre-post and a follow-up measurement of hamstring flexibility, AKE and agility was taken using flexometer, 90-90 test and agility T-test. Results: Statistical analysis was done using paired and unpaired t-test. In paired t-test, the hamstring muscle flexibility improved significantly on day 5, on follow-up day 8 measurement it showed reduction in flexibility but not significant for both groups. The AKE of right and left knee joint has significantly improved on day 5 and there was significant reduction on day 8. Whereas the agility for both groups has significantly improved on day 5 and 8. On unpaired t-test, there is significant difference between both groups for all 3 outcomes. Conclusion: The Muscle energy Technique is effective on improving hamstring muscle flexibility, Active knee extension range and agility in 5 day MET programme. Therefore, concluded that Muscle Energy Technique is effective and can be administered on-field prior to sports events, and thereby improve player’s performance. Abstract:
This paper proposes a computationally inexpensive method for automatic key-event extraction and subsequent summarization of sports videos using scoreboard detection. A database consisting of 1300 images was used to train a supervised-learning based object detection algorithm, YOLO (You Only Look Once). Then, for each frame of the video, once the scoreboard was detected using YOLO, the scoreboard was cropped out of the image. After this, image processing techniques were applied on the cropped scoreboard to reduce noise and false positives. Finally, the processed image was passed through an OCR (Optical Character Recognizer) to get the score. A rule-based algorithm was run on the output of the OCR to generate the timestamps of key-events based on the game. The proposed method is best suited for people who want to analyse the games and want precise timestamps of the occurrence of important events. The performance of the proposed design was tested on videos of Bundesliga, English Premier League, ICC WC 2019, IPL 2019, and Pro Kabaddi League. An average F1 Score of 0.979 was achieved during the simulations. The algorithm is trained on five different classes of three separate games (Soccer, Cricket, Kabaddi). The design is implemented using python 3.7.

Abstract:
Video offers solutions to many of the traditional problems with coach, trainer, commenter, umpires and other security issues of modern team games. This paper presents a novel framework to perform player identification and tracking technique for the sports (Kabaddi) with extending the implementation towards the event handling process which expands the game analysis of the third umpire assessment. In the proposed methodology, video preprocessing has done with Kalman Filtering (KF) technique. Extended Gaussian Mixture Model (EGMM) implemented to detect the object occlusions and player labeling. Morphological operations have given the more genuine results on player detection on the spatial domain by applying the silhouette spot model. Team localization and player tracking has done with Robust Color Table (RCT) model generation to classify each team members. Hough Grid Transformation (HGT) and Region of Interest (RoI) method has applied for background annotation process. Through which each court line tracing and labeling in the half of the court with respect to their state-of-art for foremost event handling process is performed. Extensive experiments have been conducted on real time video samples to meet out the all the challenging aspects. Proposed algorithm tested on both Self Developed Video (SDV) data and Real Time Video (RTV) with dynamic background for the greater tracking accuracy and performance measures in the different state of video samples.

Subject area Marketing management, Sports marketing. Study level/applicability The case is targeted at students of postgraduate and undergraduate programmes in business administration, specialising in marketing management/sports marketing. Case overview The Hockey India League (HIL) failed to make its mark. After the grand success of the Indian Premier League in India, there were hopes afloat for the HIL to follow suit. However, while the Pro Kabaddi League and the Premier Badminton League received much appreciation from a devout audience, the HIL did not quite live up to its expectations. With its evident failure for two consecutive seasons, investor sentiments were at an all-time low and most stakeholders wanted to back out. The future of the HIL now hangs in the balance, with the uncertainty of whether it should be shut down or given one more chance. Expected learning outcomes The participants are required to understand the Indian sports environment and the factors that play a major role in making a sport not only popular but also lucrative from the point of view of the investors. They will be called upon to improvise on the existing format of a sport, making it more attractive to the audience. Through such an exercise, they will understand how strategic changes to basic game formats can impact its success or failure. The case will encourage participants to think about viable business models for the revival of different types of sport. Supplementary materials Teaching notes are available for educators only. Aim: To record the prevalence of injuries in the past and present, in terms of various body parts and to record awareness and access of physiotherapy in Indian Kabaddi players. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 80 professional national-level male Kabaddi players (mean age=21.65 years) presenting with various sports-related injuries were identified in the 1st All India Inter-University Kabaddi Tournament (2014-2015) held in Punjabi University, Patiala. Samples were selected by a convenient random sampling technique and scheduled questionnaire was the tool for data collection with three domains: demographic features, the present and past injuries, awareness and access of physiotherapy. Data was analysed using Microsoft excel and SPSS 20. Results: It was found that out of 80 players, the prevalence of present injury was 42.5% (n=34) and 62.5% (n=50) of injuries were recorded in the past two years. In the upper limb, the most common injured location was shoulder (21.25%) followed by the arm (5%). In the lower limb, knee (21.25%) was the most commonly injured site followed by the ankle (13.75%) while lower back (14.25%) constituted most of the injuries in the trunk. It was found that only 53.75% (n=41) players had awareness about physiotherapy and 23 (67.65%) players out of 34 players have chosen physiotherapy as treatment at the time of data collection. Conclusion: As kabaddi is a highly combative sport in nature, so athletes are more prone to get injured. More epidemiology studies are needed in Indian context to know the biomechanics of injuries.
