Abstract:
Abstract Precision animal management (PAM), was a term created by engineers to describe technologies that improve the sustainability of intensive animal production systems. Focused efforts include improving product-efficiency and environmental impact (e.g. robotics in milk production). These PAM technologies have been incorporated in intensive swine production systems (e.g. feeding systems, waste-management). There is a perception that animal welfare efforts reduce efficiency, thus reducing sustainability. This perception is challenged with the development and application of precision animal welfare (PAW) technologies. Examples include: 1) a response system to stimulate sows to stand when they are crushing piglets (Swineguard, Swine Tech, Cedar Rapids, IA); 2) a visual-based automatic tracking system to detect sickness and agonistic interactions at an per-animal level (Schmidt et al., University of Nebraska at Lincoln, NE), and; 3) environmental enrichment (EE) that simultaneously provides mental-stimulation to pigs and automatically collects data (Hulbert et al., K-State, Manhattan, KS). The first two technologies may be applied for improved efficiency, which may not motivate animal caretakers to adopt new housing strategies. Restricted space-allowance limits behavior-expression, and consequently, limits the amount and type of data that can be gained from the technologies. Therefore, more work is needed to apply these technologies on pigs in alternative housing systems (e.g. pens instead of farrowing stalls). Animal welfare improves with EE, but pigs can extinguish EE-use (i.e. boredom) or destroy EE-devices. Non-destructible, stimulating EE were tested on mini-boars. The automated data served a behavioral-biomarker for detecting subclinical injury biomedical research projects. This EE can be scaled-up for commercial pigs and has great potential for improving welfare of pigs in intensive systems while simultaneous providing semi real-time information to animal caretakers at an per-animal level. For swine production, early-adopters and investors are needed to help animal welfare researchers and engineers to transform technologies from PAM into PAW.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper was to verify the effect of the Z'fix (PRP Technologies, France) activator of biological transformation of manure from the viewpoint of the cowshed conditions parameters, produced manure quality, manure application effect on crop yields, and overall economics. Concerning manure production, the application of the Z'fix agent enhanced quality, structure and nutrient content (N total by 23%, P2O5 by 42%, K2O by 17%) in the manure from deep litter housing. Compared to the untreated control, differences in the nutrient content of N total and K2O were statistically significant, NH3 emissions dropped significantly by almost 35%. The economic benefit of manure production with the use of the Z'fix agent demonstrated overall savings at the level of 1,369 CZK/LU/year. The influence of manure produced combined with the PRP Sol application was tested in terms of a boost of crop yield potential of silage maize and of winter wheat. Compared to the control, both crops reached yields higher by 0.7% to 9.8%.

Abstract:
Due to the rapid development of society and economy, people have more and more urgent needs for a better life and coordinated development between regions. However, research on people’s good life and coordinated development based on new era technologies such as intelligent communication is not sufficient. The future of smart communications technology will be all over the place, from television to mobile phones and the Internet, and ICT is making the world look new, helping hundreds of millions of people to live, work, and play in the most creative ways. At the same time, ICT is managing cities in innovative ways, especially in an increasingly integrated information society, exchanging information knowledge and communicating on the move. In order to understand the impact of intelligent communication on people’s good life and coordinated development research, this paper uses intelligent communication and k-means algorithm-based methods to study people’s good life and coordinated development and conducts questionnaire surveys and constructs corresponding evaluation indicators analysis. The results showed that 36% of the respondents were satisfied with the housing environment, 24% were relatively satisfied, 76% were satisfied with the greening environment, and 13% were relatively satisfied. 41% of people are satisfied with their health, and 32% are satisfied with their work status. This shows that people’s good life and coordinated development are inseparable from rapid economic development, but rapid economic development alone is far from enough because rapid economic development can improve people’s material living conditions, but not necessarily promote people’s life coordination in the spiritual world. Therefore, for people’s good life and coordinated development, the improvement of material economy and the construction of spiritual level are indispensable.

Abstract:
Since the last century, polymer materials have been widely used in industry. They are increasingly being used in the construction of agricultural machinery. Simultaneously with the spread of polymer parts, there is a need to develop technologies for repairing agricultural machinery containing such parts. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in analyzing the failures of polymer parts of agricultural machinery and equipment. (Materials and methods) The article presents a study of cases of failures of polymer parts of agricultural machinery based on data received from the enterprise LLC "Rassvet" of the Rostov region, the production cooperative "Koelginskoe" of the Chelyabinsk region for 2019 and summary information from various suppliers of spare parts of agricultural machinery. (Results and discussion) The parts of the industrial water treatment filter, turbine water meters and the sprayer housing failed at LLC "Rassvet" during the period under review. In the production cooperative "Koelginskoe" the gear of the servo drive of the grain flow and the oil seal of the hydraulic cylinder of the tractor K-744 failed, and therefore it was necessary to replace the entire unit. It is unprofitable for dealers of agricultural machinery to supply parts in a single copy due to their low cost. (Conclusions) The nomenclature of polymer parts of agricultural machines that fail is quite diverse, and cases of their failures are not rare. In some cases, the replacement of these parts is impossible due to their absence from sale, and in other cases, it turns out to be unprofitable due to long delivery times or a large minimum order batch. In this regard, agricultural producers suffer significant losses, overpaying for a whole node instead of replacing one part.

Full text
Abstract:
The marmoset monkey (Callithrix jacchus) is an important model species for the development of reproductive technologies in humans and endangered primates. Obtaining sufficient sperm of high quality is a limiting factor in implementing marmoset IVF. A method for the collection of marmoset semen, using penile vibratory stimulation (PVS), has recently been described (1). Due to the high rate of copulation in marmosets, the pairing of males with females may affect semen collection. The aim of the present study was to determine whether the quantity and motility of sperm collected by PVS is affected by animal pairing. A total of 10 adult male marmosets were used, of which 3 were paired with another adult or juvenile male, and 7 were paired with an adult female. Semen was collected from each male on up to 5 separate occassions in sterile glass tubes. PVS involved the application of successive sequences of increasing vibration to the penis using a FertiCare personal vibrator. Immediately following collection, pre-warmed Hepes-buffered TALP medium (200 μl) was added to the ejaculate. Sperm suspensions were evaluated for total sperm count and sperm motility. Ejaculates were obtained from male-paired males on every attempt (12 of 12), whereas 5 of 23 attempts failed to yield an ejaculate from female-paired males. The number of sequences of stimulation needed to obtain an ejaculate differed between males but was unaffected by animal pairing. The ejaculates collected from female-paired males had lower total numbers of sperm (3.91.4×106 v. 10.12.2×106; P<0.05) with a lower percentage motile (359% v. 85 13%; P<0.01), compared with those from male-paired males. We conclude that housing males separately from females increases the quantity and motility of sperm collected by PVS. (1) Schneiders, A., Sonksen, J., Hodges, J. K. (2004) J. Med. Abstract:
Reinforcing Place Attachment Through its Disruption: An Ethnographic Example from the Solidarita Housing Estate in PragueThe Solidarita housing estate was built during the years 1946–1951 as one of the first post-war housing estates in Prague, former Czechoslovakia. Inspired by Scandinavian urban standards, architects designed Solidarita as an urban architectural experiment that combined innovative urban strategies, new technologies, collective approach, and cooperative financing. The socio-spatial structure of Solidarita was influenced by the ideology of socialism – the production of an egalitarian society through a centrally planned economy and collective ownership. As a result, the estate was self-sufficient and conducive to neighborly meetings, and it strengthened their relations through its form. The political transformation, commercialization, and privatization in the 1990s caused a gradual change of the socio-spatial image of the neighborhood. Some elements of the housing complex started to lose their original function and the community character of Solidarita could be jeopardized. Using the theoretical concept of place attachment and the concept of social production of place, the aim of this paper is to show how residents of the Solidarita housing estate in Prague are attached to the place of their home and neighborhood and how this attachment is reconceptualized through the post-socialist socio-spatial changes of the place. Článek využívá teoretické koncepty přináležitost k místu (place attachment) a sociální produkce místa (social production of space). Jeho cílem je zjistit, jak a skrze co jsou rezidenti Solidarity připoutáni k místu svého domova a jak je tato přináležitost k místu re/konceptualizována v kontextu post-socialistické socio-prostorové transformace Solidarity. Wzmacnianie więzi z miejscem poprzez jej przekształcenie: etnograficzna analiza osiedla Solidarita w PradzeOsiedle Solidarita zostało wzniesione w latach 1946-1951 jako jedno z pierwszych powojennych osiedli w Pradze.

"50 Years Of Piezoelectric Transformers. Trends In The Technology." MRS Proceedings 785 (2003). http://dx.doi.org/10.1557/proc-785-d1.7.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe initial concept of a piezoelectric transformer (PT) was proposed by C.A. Rosen, K. Fish, and H.C. Rothenberg and is described in the U.S. Patent 2,830,274, applied for in 1954. Fifty years later, this technology has become one of the most promising alternatives for replacing the magnetic transformers in a wide range of applications. Piezoelectric transformers convert electrical energy into electrical energy by using acoustic energy. These devices are typically manufactured using piezoelectric ceramic materials that vibrate in resonance. With appropriate designs it is possible to step-up and step-down the voltage between the input and output of the piezoelectric transformer, without making use of wires or any magnetic materials. This technology did not reach commercial success until early the 90s. During this period, several companies, mainly in Japan, decided to introduce PTs for applications requiring small size, high step-up voltages, and low electromagnetic interference (EMI) signature. These PTs were developed based on optimizations of the initial Rosen concept, and thus typically referred to as “Rosen-type PTs”. Today's, PTs are used for backlighting LCD displays in notebook computers, PDAs, and other handheld devices. The PT yearly sales estimate was about over 20 millions in 2000 and industry sources report that production of piezoelectric transformers in Japan is growing steadily at a rate of 10% annually. The reliability achieved in LCD applications and the advances in the related technologies (materials, driving circuitry, housing and manufacturing) have currently spurred enormous interest and confidence in expanding this technology to other fields of application. This, consequently, is expanding the business opportunities for PTs.
