Giangolini, Matteo. "Production and characterization of tin oxide thin films deposited via solution combustion synthesis." Master's thesis, Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, 2018. http://amslaurea.unibo.it/15816/.

Full text
Abstract:
The main goal of this thesis work is the production and characterization of Tin oxide thin film deposited via Solution Combustion Synthesis (SCS). Different precursors are used in order to study the effect of the chemical nature of the reagent on the structural, morphological and electrical properties of the thin films. Tin oxide was chosen because is one of the most promising candidates for p-type oxide. In fact, the semiconductor oxides reported in the literature are mostly limited to n-type and there is a need for solution processed p-type oxide semiconductors to achieve Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductors (CMOS) using all oxide materials. Anyway, the production window of solution processed for p-type SnO is narrow and Silver doping will be used to enhance the probability to get it. If production of p-type Tin oxide will not be achieved, the work will be focused on n-type SnO2 and on the optimisation of devices made with this material, either Thin Film Transistors (TFTs) or Transparent Conductive Oxides (TCOs). Samples made in this work show good optical properties, like transmittance over 80% and energy gap values around 3.79 eV, but none of them turned out to be a p-type oxide or a good TFT. Samples annealed at higher temperatures have good electrical conductivity properties, which could lead to a future study in order to optimise these materials for TCO purposes.

Tainan is the earliest place that started developing in Taiwan. As the saying goes, Tainan was the number one city, followed by Lukang and then Bangka (Today Wanhua), which accurately depicts the important role that Tainan has played in Taiwan history. This research initiates from studying the accounts of Qiu Tian Ci and his family, exploring the development of a big family under certain historical and geographic circumstances in hope to have a better understanding to the previous and forgotten folk history. The research methodology used in this dissertation is the interview techniques in terms of the field research. The database comes from the narrations of Qiu’s family members. The purpose of this research is to reconstruct the Qiu’s family history by means of basic historical research methods, and by drawing out the collective memories of every individual in the family. Jin-Tong-Cheng was the shop’s name that Qiu Tian Ci used during the period of Japanese Occupation. Qiu Tian Ci was born in 1888, in Qing governing period. He opened Jin-Tong-Cheng at the age of 20, selling Japanese groceries. Respected and supported by the same craft, he was elected as the president of Japanese grocery board of trade three times in succession. In the 7th year of the reign of Showa(1932), Japanese set up Suehirocho, an area combining shops and dwelling houses all together, and gained an immediate success. Bearing Japanese successful example in mind, Qiu Tian Ci established his own shopping moll by opening 20 shops in a row on Xi-Men Road, creating the prime of his business career. However, unfortunately, due to World War Two, American started to bomb Tainan city, Qiu Tian Ci led his family to the countryside to take refuge. His shops were ruined by a big fire. After Kuomintang took over Taiwan, Qiu Tian Ci decided to rebuild his shops. In his 64-year life, Qiu Tian Ci had totally spent 11 years building and reconstructing his shops on Xi-Men Road. His effort is not in vain. The shops he set up have brought his descendants lots of rental income, and the name of his shop, Jin-Tong-Cheng, has also become the logo of his family.

The professional Taiwanese Stage Opera Troupe “Gong-Le-She” first produced Taiwanese Opera scripts in 1952, thus changing the oral tradition of performance, and left behind as its legacy astounding volumes of scripts written in the Minnan language (Taiwanese). The purpose of this study focuses on the earliest of these surviving scripts, the “Jin-Yin-Tian-Gou”. This study provide methods to read such Minnan literature, based on the principles in utilizing phonetic loan characters, rhyme and rhythm, differences between dialects, and knowledge of the cultural background, and applied them in this research. We further propose analyses in phonetic reading, vocabulary usage and terminologies, as well as grammatical structure. To provide backdrop, this study outline the background of Gong-Le-She, the reasons for the creation of Taiwanese Opera scripts, and discussed the cultural background and meanings present in the scripts. Through the differences in dialects, the observations of rhyming schemes, and the way phonetic loan characters are utilized, it is evident that this particular opera leans towards the Chuan style. In terms of vocabulary, this study build on the foundation laid by previous research, adding further categorizations and observations, as well as identifying the use of one character to depict numerous sounds, thus showing the flexibility with which vocabulary is utilized in this script. This study indicates that the written form of Taiwanese Opera is highly similar to the Taiwanese folk-song booklets , but the operas are even more colloquial than the booklets, while also including many Minnan words and phrases that are gradually disappearing from modern parlance. This study listed many such special examples, and corrected some mistakes in the annotations of the publisher (The Center for Traditional Arts). Aside from phonetic words and vocabulary, the stage language, sentence structures and the style of script all contribute to the uniqueness of this text. This study is attempting to build further on the research of Minnan literature, especially in Taiwanese Opera script analysis (an aspect previously lacking in such research), and through our work affirm the value of the Gong-Yueh Society scripts as Minnan literature worthy of further research.

This literature can understand the author's ideas. The best technique of this literature is to describe the characters of story. Other important artistic drama to literary, musical and word-based text mining techniques. Sheng-Jie Zhang also carefully arranged sound. All the tricks of the structural arrangement, particularly visible in the turning point of intentions. In time and space arrangements, rap arrangements fate foot color arrangements are sufficient to support the development of the plot. Despite flaws with the rhyme, but also to express emotion. Words taken to use Code (Allusion), the wide variety of sources, quite changeable, or intended for the lyric sheet, or the United States increased sentence. As can be seen from the allusions sound Sheng-Jie Zhang, multi possesses unique creativity. Text alone is concerned, literature, music and words of mining techniques are sound enough to see Sheng-Jie Zhang intentions in the creation Play And YU TIAN CHUN SHUI XUAN Zaju connotations in desired expression covers the era of the big worries of injustice and personal encounters. In the area of The Criticism of Opera in the Ming Dynasty, ”Qu-Pin” by Liu Tian-Cheng and “Yuan-Shan-Tang-Qu-Pin” by Qi Biao-Jia, these two pieces used an unprecedented tone to discuss the works and create a very clear picture of the composition situation at that time. According to the article by Tan-Kun, he thought that Liu Tian-Cheng and Qi Biao-Jia were the prominent critics and that their work had important value in theory and practice as well. Qi Biao-Jia inherited the critical tradition from Liu Tian-Cheng. From his own narration, he mentioned that he had wished himself to revise works by the former and then broaden their scopes; based on that vision, he did complete his will. According to the study by Liu Nan-Nan, it noted that the most criticisms then were gathered in “Yuan-Shan-Tang-Qu-Pin” and “Yuan-Shan-Tang-Ju-Pin”. However, nowadays, compared to the discussion of their contrasts, their individual criticisms are usually looked into. Imitating “Shi-Pin” by Zhong-Reng、”Hua-Pin” by Yu Jian-Wu and ”Shu-Pin” by Xie-He, Liu Tian- Cheng applied the way to the “ranking” concept in ”Qu-Pin” ;further affected Qi Biao-Jia’s writing and even”Xin-Chuan-Qi-Pin” by Qao-Yi. Therefore, I make this my topic hope to canvass comparison and contrast of their critical standards within these two pieces. First of all, I would analyze the background , and then the discussed objects and the ranking method from these two writers. Next, begin from the discussion about the request of the play structure ,music, lyrics and lines to interpret the difference and similarity within ”Qu-Pin”、 “Yuan-Shan-Tang-Qu-Pin”.

I would like to discuss Hong Xiu-quan’s views on God. 1.Tai-ping-tian-ri: This text records the dream of Hong Xiu-quan in 1837. Hong Xiu-quan had failed on his examination at the third time in 1837. He returned to his home from Guangzhou. He had a serious illness. At midnight of March 1 of 1837, Hong Xiu-quan was taken by a lots of angels to the Heaven. In Heaven, he saw a old man with golden breed and in black dragon rope who is God the father Highest Emperor (Tian-fu-huang-shang-di). God told to Hong Xiu-quan, because the human was confused by the devils to sin, so they had forgotten to worship Him, they were also suffering in pain. Except for God, Hong Xiu-quan had seen Holy Mother (who is not mother of Jesus Christ – Maria), Holy Brother Jesus Christ, Holy Sister-in-law (Jesus’ wife) and his another wife in Heaven. God and Jesus taught Hong Xiu-quan how to kill the devils and gave him a sword (which name is “Snow in the Cloud”) and a golden seal. God send him back to the ground to kill the evils and establish a kingdom whose people worship God. 2.Tian-li-yao-lun: This text is adapted by Hong Xiu-quan from the missionary of London Missionary Society - Walter Henry Medhurst’s (1796-1857) original work (which has the same Chinese title). Hong extracted the original work’s chapter one to chapter eight and tried to adapt the contents for his own thinking. 3.San-zi-jing: This text is written by Hong Xiu-quan, he want to imitate the Chinese traditional children’s textbook - San-zi-jing’s pattern. It records: the history of Israel (Genesis and Exodus), the life of Jesus Christ, the history of China and the doctrine of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom.

Television is one of the community media in our life. The program of television is multiform, and it is more convenient and easier for audience to watch than drama or movie. The genre of television drama is seldom to be attending to. Perhaps the television drama is always to be considering as popular culture and it is lack of artistry, so that it is to banish from art filed. In these year produced many exquisite television drama in Taiwan, especially for Public Television Service station. PTS brag about their characteristic that is literary of television drama, most of their productions is reform from literature work. My study is about the television drama program “The Love Story of Xu, Zhi-mo-Ren Jian Si Yue Tian” this is not reform from literary work. It is writing by Wang, Hui-ling. This script is published before it performs. Generally most of the script is been published as the novel style but not the original script style. That is why I choose this television program to be my subject. I am trying to find out the unique and meaning in the television script. Through the study I analyzed the structure of its content and to understand that the writing style of Wang, Hui-ling’s drama. Beside I would like to point out that the television drama is not just a media of culture industry but also an art of modern society.

The study aims to understand the heritage of Tiao-Gu Jen in terms of its origin, historical development and passing-down process. By further exploring the details of Tiao-Gu Jen, including the teaching contents and teaching methods, the researcher will submit personal points of view. The research method of this study is mainly used through the analysis of documents, fieldworks and interviews, along with observing audio-visual records. The research results shows as follows: 1. From literature review, the researcher finds that there are different evidences about the origin of Tiao-Gu Jen, but none is for sure and needs to further research in the future. 2. Because many professional groups emerge, some key persons’ promotion, and the supports from central and local governments, Tiao-Gu Jen achieved the summit in 1980s, which also triggered many groups formed in the primary school level and to join the Tiao-Gu Jen related competitions enthusiastically. Later on, due to the change of society and environment, Tiao-Gu Jen has been hardly carried on. 3. Traditional teaching style of Tiao-Gu Jen is based on teacher-centered. When the heritage of Tiao-Gu Jen brought in school, some teachers started to use different pedagogy, such as assisted with technology, integrated curriculum and creative teaching. 4. According to the change and mutual influences among the performers, audiences, and performing spaces, the way of heritage and the contents of Tiao-Gu Jen have been innovated. However, facing the challenge from tradition towards innovation, the researcher think in order to preserve the spirits and essence, innovation should be considered carefully and some principles should be kept. Finally, the researcher submits through the support of government, the cooperation between school and community, curriculum design and possible teaching approaches to attract students’ motivation four aspects to benefit the development of Tiao-Gu Jen for the future. The primary purpose of the thesis is to investigate how does Chu present “modernity” and “colonial” in his novels? What are historical values of novels created by Chu? Why are there some Taiwanese sentences in his pieces although Chu opposed to advocate “native literature and Taiwanese” and insisted on writing in Chinese? As an intellectual in the colony, what’s Chu’s image of the homeland? Chapters in this thesis based on original documents such as newspapers and magazines and field researches in Longshan temple. Chapter 2 we introduce Chu’s entire life in three periods. Chapter 3 we sum up Chu’s works in the sequence of time. Chapter 4 we discuss the Taiwanese literature movement and examine debates in which Chu was involved with old poets about morality and forms of literature. Chu, known as “the son of the unicorn”, It makes Chu’s pieces more artistic by emulating Maupassant’s techniques in portrayals which differ from other realistic descriptions. Through researches and diachronic analyses of Chu’s works, there is deep consciousness of Taiwan identity in his productions implicitly which can much truly present appearances of the society. By browsing Chu’s brilliant pieces, there is no doubt that people living in Taiwan will feel deeply touched and inspired.

Study of Tiao- Jing- Men in Ji- Yin- Gang- Mu Researcher: Mei-Fei Chen Instructing Professor: Jaung-Geng Lin Co-Instructing Professor: Hsien-Cheh Chang Graduate Institute of Chinese Medicine, China Medical University Abstract “Ji Yin Gang Mu” of Ming Dynasty is with specific argumentations on diseases related to gynecology, for which is written by Wu, Zhi-Wang on the basis of “Gynecological Treatment Standard” of Wang, Keng-tang from Ming Dynasty, to cite theories from theses of various schools, with its content and summary well-organized, and its prescriptions practical, moreover, this book is cited gynecological documentaries throughout history, with excerption of essence from them, to put them in an orderly fashion as well in extreme details, and come to be very valuable on the clinical applications to the later medical experts. According to the recordings of “Library Union Catalogue of Mainland China”, currently in Mainland China, there is a total of 47 versions of “Ji Yin Gang Mu” in the collections of the various libraries, nonetheless, there are countless versions published by various publishers after the establishment of Republic of China, and this is clearly to see that “Ji Yin Gang Mu”is a very authoritative work on Chinese gynecology, to be passed around in popularity during Ching Dynasty. In both “Si Ku Chuan Su Zong Mu Ti Yao” (The Summary of the Books in Four Divisions)and “Chung I Ta Tz''u Tien” (Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine), they all with recognition on “Ji Yin Gang Mu” only as adaptation on the blueprint of “Gynecological Treatment Standard”. In fact, Wu, Zhi-Wang makes wide searches with collections of miscellaneous books, to select and excerpt their essential contents, to put efforts on compilation, and with his efforts, accomplishments and contributions, the contents of “Ji Yin Gang Mu”are arranged and tidy. With selection of first subject of first volume as “Tiao Jing Men”for the analytical research in the paper, on the part of medical theories, mainly to get to the bottom of ancient documentaries and make analytical criticisms, to then make comparison as well as investigations on the medical viewpoints from modern gynecology, moreover, with application of the Encyclopedia of Traditional Chinese Medicine, to make key word searching of source origins for the original texts from each section of medical theory, in the way, it is helpful to understand the inheritance and evolution on the medical theories of “Ji Yin Gang Mu‧Tiao Jing Men”, with anticipation that by way of innovative documentary research approaches, it is helpful for the later people on the studies of “Ji Yin Gang Mu‧Tiao Jing Men” for its thinking argumentation and verifications of its original meanings, as well as to make breakthrough of any inconclusiveness by Wu, Zhi-Wang when writing “ Ji Yin Gang Mu‧Tiao Jing Men”. The research results are illustrated separately as the followings: (1) for the medical term annotations of each section, to study carefully, and to make criticism. With drawing of Visio association diagram, to illustrate the main ideas and associations of various sections; (2) with citation of various books from original works, to write down book title in abbreviation, name of author in simple term, or only with last name, to make search, verification and sorting out, enabling the readers not to be confused any longer by the term for which the citations are based. There is a total of 21 sections for “Tiao Jing Men”, and on the citation from the medical experts alone, there are 19 people, with sources of origin, there are 19 books, unlike what critics made on the above stated “Si Ku Chuan Su Zong Mu Ti Yao” (The Summary of the Books in Four Divisions), only with citation from the book “Gynecological Treatment Standard”; (3)for Chinese medical books, there are very few to record citation as where and what books, title, and author they are originated, while the later people can only make trace of books read, to either follow closely or make note for any relations, seldom there is much to obtain from, only very few of them as phoenix feather and dragon claws, while there is so litter to gather from, and nothing much to make out anything, unable to clear out their inherited relationships. However, by computer programming, with the percentage accounted from similar words, one is able to see the source of origin, citation, inheritance and evolution, appendix texts in striking coloring reminders from medical theories of original text of “Ji Yin Gang Mu‧Tiao Jing Men” where they can be seen distinctly, to be clearly arranged, and easily to understand when reading through. For this innovative ancient book documentary research method, by processing words with computer programming, to make illustrations with Visio association diagram, and this is helpful for the modern researches on the original meanings, verifications and breakthroughs on the idea argumentation of classical documentaries. This in turn to create new field on the documentary researches of medical history, to solve the big dilemma to get to the bottom of origin and inheritance for the documentaries of ancient books, in fact, after citation made by the book, Wu’s will also cite other books for many of them, to then make organization. This also overturns the wrong critics made by “Si Ku Chuan Su Zong Mu Ti Yao” (The Summary of the Books in Four Divisions). There are two versions circulating in the market-five volumes by Wu, Zhi-Wang in 1620 of Ming Dynasty, and 14 volume editions illustrated by Wang, Qi-Qian; by way of verification and comparison on the two versions of “Tiao Jing Men” for contents, origins of source citation, differences on content addition and elimination, to see what the advantages and weakness on both Wu’s and Wong’s versions, and to study the academic patterns and relationship from Wu, Zhi-Wang when writing “Ji Yin Gang Mu”, as well as the reasons why Wang Qi-Qian make explanations and revisions of “Ji Yin Gang Mu”. Through the results of the paper, to understand the source of origins for bringing about the creation of “Ji Yin Gang Mu”, and on the development source of origins in the history of Chinese Medical gynecology, they are mainly from “Furen Daquan Liang Fang” (Complete Effective Prescriptions for Women''s Diseases), “Jiaozhu Furen Daquan Liang Fang” (Emendation on Complete Effective Prescriptions for Women''s Diseases), and “Gynecological Treatment Standard”. Thus, although there are a lot of citations made in the work of “Ji Yin Gang Mu”by Wu, Zhi-Wang, they are not plagiarism word by word, instead as comprehensions well-thought over by referring to a lot of ancient books, and on the clinical illness treating platform of gynecology, to put together of the related medical theories once again, certainly to have his unique contributions, and his efforts should not be taken lightly. The researcher has been working as a consultant in juvenile correction institutes for counselling delinquent juvenile for fifteen years. From observation, it appears that a juvenile’s family, school and societal environment are important in the criminogenic process, after they have been discharged from the Juvenile correction institute. In this regard, the researcher has established an NGO, “Chinese Juvenile caring institute”, to help juveniles refrain from crime again, but only failed to have good effect. However “Jiotien folk dancing group” has successfully transformed itself from an “gang group” unacceptable to society into a famous art performance group which also successfully manages delinquent juveniles. This outstanding success has motivated the researcher to research how they have managed to achieve this performance. In this report, the researcher is trying to understand how “Jio-tien” successfully handled those juvenile’s delinquency; also to understand what are its concepts and methods and can they be replicated and modelled for others. If the exceptional experience of “Jiotien” can be analysed for better understanding, it may provide a good model to be copied or referred by other organizations. By interview 24group and community members, the study concluded that the mechanisms through which “Jio-tien” succeeded were (1) a leader with talent and broad vision who leads by his personal example., (2) self-fulfillment with assertiveness, (3) the loyalty to stand together through thick and thin, (4) positive and constructive peers, (5) surroundings with norms, (6) spiritual convention, and (7) familial cooperation. There are some implications of this study: (1) the family should establish the loyalty to stand together through thick and thin, (2) the schools should provide sources for diverse accomplishment (3) the other displacement organizations could promote friendship between peers and their self-fulfillment, (4) educational circles could bring “Jia-Jan group” into vocational training at school, and (5) the government could administer “Jia-Jan group” positively as a legitimate NGO.

I-Kuan Tao has been developing in Taiwan for more than seventy years. Since the end of the Second World War in 1945, the Kuomintang government has taken over the right to rule in Taiwan. I-Kuan Tao has developed in China and gradually come to develop in Taiwan. However, it has not been smooth to develop in Taiwan. Faced with the suppression of the Kuomintang regime, it can only develop secretly and avoid being banned. Until 1987, the Kuomintang government agreed to legalize the law, and since then I-Kuan Tao has been able to publicly promote the Tao affairs. The development of I-Kuan Tao Bao Guang Jian De branch in Taiwan, with Yang Yong-Jiang as the main person in charge, has been passed down to the fifth predecessor. The current leader is Lin Zai-Jin. In the early days of Taiwan's development, Bao Guang Jian De branch expanded from Taichung to the whole province of Taiwan and has now developed to the whole of the world. The Tao society in Pingtung area is part of the Kaohsiung development in Taiwan. It originated from Kaohsiung's Tian Tai Tao Center set up before martial law dissolution in 1958 and was developed into the Pingtung area. After martial law dissolution, Tian Xiu Tao Center was set up in Pingtung in 1990. After the completion of this Tao Center, it was integrated into a group in the Pingtung area, and the name was "Shui Zhen Group", which was divided into Bode, Xiaode and Ci three districts and continued to develop Tao affairs to this day, but the leadership point and the predecessors remain unchanged, and there is no division, all belong to the management of the Tian Tai Tao Society. In addition to the establishment of Tao temples in various townships and cities, the development of Pingtung Shui Zhen Group also promotes Tao affairs in counties and cities across the region and promotes the purification of people's hearts, promotes filial piety, and organizes public welfare activities with the "Religious Charity Foundation of the Republic of China". At present, most of the researches in the study have been conducted in I-Kuan Tao branches. This study is intended to be carried out in a microscopic way. The development of the Shui Zhen group in the Pingtung area of I-kuan Tao Bao Guang Jian De Tian Tai Tao Society is taken as the research object. Analyze the development history and development characteristics of I-kuan Tao Bao Guang Jian De Tao Society in Pingtung.

This research implemented a measure device to survey the slope at Jia-Xian ~ Tian-Chi section of the southern cross-land highway. Totally we selected 47 appropriate locations as the measure points to install these devices which were safe, economical, quick-installed and easy-maintained. Passing through the rain season from May to September in 2002, these devices got the accurate occurring time of the slope failure caused by the rain wash. Totally we got the data, occurring time of slope-failure, from 25 locations. These slope failures all belonged to the small scale of the shallow layer failure. Comparing the Central Weather Bureau’s rainfall data and our occurring time of the slope failure, it revealed that there was the close relation between the shallow layer failure and the rainfall situation. The result revealed: (1) The slope failures happened for 1 ~ 2 times at 25 out of 47 measure points, so that the total frequency counted to 32 times. Among these happenings, there were 17 slope failures occurred within 2 hours after the highest rainfall intensity occurred. It was 53% among total slope-failure frequency. Within 2~5 hours after the highest rainfall intensity occurred, there were 7 slope failures happened; it occupied 22%. Beyond 5 hours after the highest rainfall intensity occurred, there were 8 slope failures happened; it was 22% among the total frequency. This result was the same as 池谷浩’s research. (2) The failures whose slope angles were above 70 degrees occurred 13 times; it was 40.6% among the total happenings. The failures whose slope angles were between 60 and 70 degrees occurred 10 times; it was 31.2%. The failures whose slope angles were between 50 and 60 degrees occurred 9 times; it was 28.2%. It revealed that when the rain fell, the slope was steeper, the slop failure happened easier. (3) When the accumulation of rainfall depth was within 80mm, the slop failure happened 23 times; it occupied 51.06% among totally slope-failure happenings. It revealed that at the southern cross-land freeway, the probability of slope-failure occurrence was high if the rainfall depth reached 80mm at the slope of high potential failure. (4) When the highest rainfall intensity reached 20mm/hr, there were probably a half of slopes failed. It showed that the probability of slope failure occurrence was high if the rainfall intensity reached 20mm/hr at the slope of high potential failure. (5) Classifying the type of stratum among the 32 slope failures, the slope type belonged to the sandy-shale layer was 18; it was 56% among the total. The slope type belonged to the sandy layer was 7; it occupied 22%. The slope type belonged to the shale layer was 7; it also occupied 22% among the total. (6)The failure of slop happened 17 times within 2 hours after the highest rainfall intensity occurred. In these failure happenings, the failures whose slope angle above 70 degrees occupied 8 out of 17 times, and the percentage was 47%. The failures whose slope angles between 60 and 69 degrees happened 4 times; it was 23.5%. The failures whose angles between 50 and 59 degrees happened 5 times; it was 29.5% among the total happenings. It showed that after a torrential rain, the slope was steeper, the slope failure happened easier. (7) We put the data of all measure points in a coordinate plane which was used the highest rainfall intensity as the y-coordinate and rain depth accumulation as the x-coordinate. From the plane, we chose 40mm as the rain depth accumulation and 20mm/hr as the highest rainfall intensity to create a linear equation: y + 2x = 40. Except one extraordinary point, all data points were located above this line in the coordinate plane. Hence, it was the critical line of shallow layer failure at Jia-Xian ~ Tian-Chi section. On the other hand, this critical line would be a criterion for announcing the road-damage warning. (8) In this survey, we also considered the distance between slop-failure measure point and the rainfall observatory. The distance within 5 km was 56.5% among the total. The distance between 5 km and 10 km was 41%. The distance above 10 km was 3%. Therefore, the reliability of data was higher if the distance between the measure point and the observatory was within 10 kilometer.

This thesis is the discussion about the thematic thoughts and writing techniques in Tien-Jen Chu’s novels, which refer to the historical background at that time of Taiwan and cut into from the criticism of Japanese colonial policy, Taiwan feudal society and novel writing techniques . Under the impact of colonial policy, Taiwanese faces crises of identity obscureness . Taiwanese writers through the influence of modernization pass criticism on Taiwan feudal society, analyze the characteristic of the writing techniques of the novels; and relate the writing techniques with thematic thoughts. The theme in the second chapter is the criticism of Japanese colonial policy in Tien-Jen Chu’s novels .It has cut into these discussions from two respective themes as “the criticism of modernization policy during colonial rule”and“the treatment under racial inequality”, and discuss the intention of Japanese colonial government from these works of “An Autumn Letter” and “Stand-Out” . The showing at the exposition is how to cause the crisis of Taiwanese identity. Under the unfair treatment of the colonial policy, colonized Taiwanese faces crises of identity obscureness, and although Taiwanese give up their identities, they still suffer unfair treatment. The theme in the third chapter is the criticism of Taiwan feudal society. It cuts into these discussions from two respective themes as “Taiwan feudal culture” and “Taiwanese nationality”. On the one hand, it discusses superstition, the incorrect medication and patriarchy from these works of “The Capital Of Island”, “Memorial Tree” and “Cicada”. On the other hand, it discusses Taiwanese avaricious and suave nationality from these works of, “Memorial Tree” , “The Date Of Death ”, “Longevity”and “The Capital Of Island”. Under the discussion, we can see the criticism in Tien-Jen Chu’s novels. The theme in the fourth chapter is the study about the relation between the writing techniques and thematic thoughts in Tien-Jen Chu’s novels, which cut into these discussions from four respective themes as “the arrangements of plots”, “narrative perspective”, “characterization”, “language”. In Tien-Jen Chu’s novels, we know the criticism, the standpoint about Japanese colonial policy and Taiwan feudal society. Furthermore, Tien-Jen Chu makes use of scenes, events, conversation and mind to represent roles’ characteristic. Finally, Tien-Jen Chu’s novels present the thematic thoughts by the fact that the roles talk in Taiwanese. By the thematic thoughts and the writing techniques in Tien-Jen Chu’s novels, This thesis has conducted that Taiwanese need to suffer such inevitable pain and choice under colonial rule. The researches and analyses of Tien-Jen Chu’s novels can present appearances of Taiwan feudal society. Besides realizing the artistry of the writing techniques of Tien-Jen Chu’s novels, we can also see the relation between the writing techniques and the thematic thoughts of that. In Tien-Jen Chu’s novels, we can see that by modernization policy, colonial government resulted in the process that Taiwanese lost their identities. In the study, we also realized the questions in Taiwan feudal culture, and the phenomenon of Taiwanese avaricious and suave nationality. Observing the thoughts in Tien-Jen Chu’s novels, we realized that the purpose of Tien-Jen Chu criticizing Taiwan feudal society is to enlighten Taiwanese on reasoning thinking. On the one hand Tien-Jen Chu resisted Japanese colonial policy by insisting on writing in Chinese, and on the other hand he achieved the purpose, which is that Tien-Jen Chu enlightened Taiwanese on the roles talking in Taiwanese. Through the discussion of the writing techniques, we can deeply realize the thematic thoughts in Tien-Jen Chu’s novels.

The evolution of Taiwan poetry in literature, politics and sex class went through many changes. The writing styles and features are showed as different techniques and expressions which depend on the literary writers’ backgrounds and growing environments. In this article, it involved in four physician writers, Zi-De Jiang, Keh-Hwa Chen, Yi-Jia Wang, Ya-Ge Tian. From their poetry and prose, I aimed at their career particularity to think of the body concept of literature. Moreover, I used the western philosopher Michel Foucault's body discourse to explore development and impact on ‘body’ for ‘literature’.Also, because of four physician writers, their educations and experiences in the workplace which are different from general writers. Therefore, for life and death, they have more realizations than normal people. It will affect their poetry and prose literary creation. Consequently, I would like to explore literature works which express the aspirations and desires in spirit physical aspects by their identities of physician writers. There are five chapters in this article. The first chapter is introduction which explains motivations and methods of researches. And then lightly describes that chemical reaction is produced when medicine and literature merges and also describes being a physician writer who is unique and facing some problems and pressure. Furthermore, I will be describes and discusses the differences between the research and previous literature. In the second chapter, I will focus on poetry and outlined the development of Taiwan’s poetry from 1950s to the 1980s. In the third chapter, I will use the poetry of Zi-De Jiang and Keh-Hwa Chen, the prose of Yi-Jia Wang and Ya-Ge Tian, to discuss as a physician writer for diseases, treatment, life and death of feeling. And how self-healing through writing, presented in his works. Levels in the body and mind, and how the two interact, confrontation, conflict, conflict. The fourth chapter discusses Western philosophers Michel Foucault as the main body, to discuss the development of physical and social nature. And discuss the works of physician writers in Taiwan. The last chapter is the conclusion which illustrates the works of the physician writers and the value and contribution for Taiwanese literature.

By virtue of the discussion on two discourses in “wen xin, xu zhi” (Literary Mind, Postface), Chapter One of this treatise works to indicate the research methods and concepts to which the researchers of “Wen Xin Diao Long” (Literary Mind and the Carving of the Dragon) should adhere, followed by conducting the study into “wen xin” and having introspection to show the flaws of these texts. Finally, it inducts the necessity of interpreting “Axis Theory” from the aesthetic perspective of “jing dian zhi tiao - wen zhang” (branches of classics – literary works). On the strength of discussion on “dao” (Taoism), “sheng” (the sage) and “Jing” (the classics) by Ban Gu and Zheng Xuan, classical scholars, recognized adequately by Liu Xie and the on concept of “jing dian zhi tiao - wen zhang”, Chapter Two of this treatise aims to get an insight into Liu Xie’s “dao”, “sheng”, and “jing” and “jing dian zhi tiao - wen zhang”. Like “What are poets for?” by Heidegger, the sages’ composing course of classics in “xin sheng er yen li, yen li er wen ming” (thought begets meaning which produces utterance) recognized in Liu Xie’s concept given a clear account in Chapter Three reveals the profound justice of nature of the cosmos that makes it the creative activity with the most aesthetic value and meaning. Therefore, Liu Xie’s ideally aesthetic implication of “jing dian zhi tiao - wen zhang” is: Imitating the sages’ aesthetic activity of composing classics in “xin sheng er yen li, yen li er wen ming” (including the practical creation of literary works in “xu jing shen si” (surpassing time and space imagination in tranquil void), “yen cit u na” (breathing exercise of utterance) and “she qing yi wei ti, zhuo shi yi qu lei, cuo ci yi ju yao”(deciding the contents of thought and arranging guiding principles, deliberating over the use of allusion, using refined language to highlight the gist) By virtue of the “imitation” of sages’ aesthetic activity of poetry composition, it can return to their original sacred time and space in composing the classics. Under such context, Chinese literary scholars can conduct the exchange in a sense of “The natural law for sages to compose the classics” and “The disposition of five constant virtues for sages to compose the classics” in which it imply the sages’ “five constant virtues” revealed in the classics that acquires sagacious moralization of moral characters and inducts the “pleasant impression of classics, incessant reason and sentiment” in the meanwhile. Manner presented by Liu Xie’s ideal style of “jing dian zhi tiao - wen zhang” is: On the basis of imitating “the essential principle for sages to shape the classical style”, “diao hua qi ci” (carving the wondrous rhetoric) in intellectual change timely will be taken as the symbol of “the pleasant impression of classics, incessant change of reason and sentiment.” In Chapter Four of this treatise, the aesthetic implication of “jing dian zhi tiao - wen zhang” will be applied to re-interpret the “Axis Theory” of Wen Xin. By virtue of the “imitation” of “the sages’ aesthetic activity to compose classics”, it further indicates that not only does the literary works from Qu Yuan’s Li Sao can achieve “ben hu dao, shi hu sheng, ti hu jing” (taking the Taoism as the basic principle for writing, following teachings from the sages, following the styles of classics) to present the sentiment of “the sages’ aspiration to compose classics” and “the sages’ natural law to compose classics”, thus implying the sages’ aspiration to attain the state of personality in “lofty ambition” as well as reaching “the pleasant impression of classics, incessant change of reason and sentiment” (i.e. the affections of “qu rong jing zhi” (acquire and blend the purport of classics) revealed by “Bian Sao” (Differentiation of Li Sao)! In the other hand, Qu Yuan can “zhuo hu wei” – taking discretionarily “plentiful and peculiar sagas, abundant rhetoric” from Myths of Wei Book – in intellectual change timely couple with his gift to form new “wei ci” (i.e. “zi zhu wei ci” (compose great rhetoric at his own) revealed by Biao Sao), thus working as the symbol of “the pleasant impression of classics, incessant change of reason and sentiment.” Thereby, the literary works of Li Sao by Qu Yuan in “Chapter of Bian Sao” can “qu rong jing zhi” (“ben hu dao, shi hu sheng, ti hu jing”) as well as can “zi zhu wei ci” (formed by “zhuo hu wei” along with personal gift) turn out to be Liu Xie’s ideal sample of “jing dian zhi tiao - wen zhang”. In the light of such aesthetic implication, I do hereby give an interpretation to the important concept of creation theory of “Wen Xin”, pointing out the feasibility of point at issue in this treatise.

ABSTRACT Due to cultural changes in the over 2,000 years since its birth in the fifth century B.C. and its transmission around the world, Buddhism could not avoid an accumulation of relative truths added to it as later developments. These so-called developments are perhaps helpful in revealing the absolute truth of the Dharma, but they also may conceal the true nature of the dharma. So, while understanding the Dharma with a twenty-first century, globalized worldview, we should also study Buddhism’s original concerns in the footsteps of the past saints, with the classic scriptures as the foundation for the life of those seeking self-cultivation. This paper researches the explanation of one chapter of the Lotus Sutra by Tiantai Second Chinese Patriarch, Master Hui-Si, in his work, The Meaning of Steadiness,Happiness and Activity in Lotus Sutra. Through the ages, the main interpretation of the Lotus Sutra has been that the prominent feature of its thought is the chapter of “expedient means.” However, Hui-Si instead selected “the course of ease and bliss " as the representative for integral Dharma gate lotus practice devoid of distinguishing features, and used this to construct the basis for the overall blueprint of cultivation in the lives of people working towards becoming attaining Buddhahood –The Meaning of Steadiness,Happiness and Activity in Lotus Sutra. This work is formed by the profound interaction between Hui-Si’s own life experience and the Lotus Sutra classic teachings. This paper will analyze the three major elements of this interpretation – Buddha nature, concentration and forbearance. These three major elements are used as the paper’s structure, separated into chapters, by discussing in turn the thoughts and arguments revealed by Hui-Si in this work and the intention of the overall structure of the work. There are three directions of research: 1. Searching for the source of the scriptural and ideological basis of the three major elements in the thought of Hui-Si’s Meaning of Steadiness,Happiness and Activity in Lotus Sutra, and interpreting this scriptural basis as the foundation for further addressing places where individual, unique interpretation can be found. 2. Analyzing principles of the interrelationships between the three major elements in Hui-Si’s Meaning of Steadiness,Happiness and Activity in Lotus Sutra. 3. Discussing interaction between the three major principles and Hui-Si’s life experiences. With The Meaning of Steadiness,Happiness and Activity in Lotus Sutra, Hui-Si constructed the basis for a blueprint for practice. What makes it most accessible is that this classic may be called the Buddha’s teaching for the masses in the last days. Hui-Si interpreted this sutra as though Buddha was teaching the Dharma personally. To this day, The Meaning of Steadiness,Happiness and Activity in Lotus Sutra is still an accessible way to explain the Lotus Sutra to contemporary masses, giving today’s scholars matters for self-reflection.

Chiu Hsiu-Chih, Liu Jing-Juan, Xie Shong-Tien, Chi-Chi, Bai Tzi-Piou, and Sing-Dai are six famous female Taiwanese essayists who began to write during the 1970s. The realistic but light writing style or modernism description is derived from their deep, profound love and culture identity to the land where they grew up. Their special structure in prose made them become the first generation female native essayists in Taiwan literature history after war. In the 1970s, trend was “back to home town”, but they did not follow “back to nationalism” nor “back to the realistic” sedulously; they described home town people & events, childhood life and native customs & conditions in Taiwan through direct & simple feeling in their lives. They expressed love & care to the nature and wrote down their mother experience deeply & thoroughly. They presented Taiwan women’s life experience and emotion expression for this generation. Main text of this paper describes social & literature background in decade of the 1970s and these six female writers’ literature creative processes. From chapter 3 to chapter 6 are based on human geographies and mothering self recognition to explore these six female writers. These chapters start from family house, deliberating home town, childhood and impressions of Taipei, recording Taiwan local customs and practices, and finally returning to path of “back to home town” with mothering self recognition. Chapter 3 “the starting point of local narrative” female writers start from family house space to contemplate the inner meaning of “home” to individual life journey in memory stream. Chapter 4 “home town in memory and the second home town” analyses that female writers illustrated childhood memory, home town and cities, after they left home town in 1970s. They drifted between southern central home town and the second home town Taipei to interpret urban and rural impressions in 1970s. Chapter 5 “native customs & conditions in Taiwan” studies Taiwanese & Hakka’s customs, languages, impression of Taipei as well as people & events in other area in Taiwan stated in their essays. Chapter 6 “back to life origin”, by the theoretical study of mothering, describes how female writers, through experiences of being mother and feeding children, build up mothering self recognition and transfers these experiences to power & motivation of their literature creations. It completes a very special “back to home town” path for women. Comparing to the female essayists of the second generation migrating Taiwan yearn for remote Mainland and observe Taiwan from long-distance sidelines. The native proses written by Taiwanese female writers in the 1970s drilled by nature-born Taiwan soil wrote local lives of women, language and culture, and emotion and memory.Their words express genuine recognition of land. They become the first generation of local female essayists in the history of contemporary female essay after war. Key words : the 1970s, Taiwanese female writers, female essayists, native prose, the theoretical study of mothering, mothering self recognition, human geographies
