Abstract:
This paper reviews the research on the systematics and biology of the superfamily Bdelloidea in China, with an updated checklist of 48 species belonging to 16 genera in the family Cunaxidae and 26 species belonging to nine genera in the family Bdellidae. Important contributions to the Chinese fauna of the Bdellidae were made by Tseng Yi-Hsiung (Taiwan), Hong Mei (former with Fudan University in Shanghai) and Lin Jian-Zhen (and colleagues in Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Fuzhou), and those to the Cunaxidae by Tseng Yi-Hsiung, Li Long-Shu (and colleagues in Southwest University, Chongqing) and Lin Jian-Zhen (and colleagues). There have been relatively few studies on the biology and use in biological control of the Bdelloidea in China, and these are briefly reviewed.

Abstract:
AbstractIn February through June 2011, Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and Suizhou Museum excavated Yejiashan Cemetery of the Western Zhou Dynasty. The excavation uncovered areas of 3700sq m in total, from which 65 tombs and one horse pit were recovered and over 700 pieces (or sets) of artifacts including bronzes, potteries, proto-porcelain wares and jades were unearthed. Some bronzes bore inscriptions of “Zeng 曾”, “Hou 侯 (marquis)”, “Zeng Hou 曾侯 (Marquis of Zeng)”, “Zeng Hou Jian 曾侯谏 (Marquis of Zeng named Jian)” and so on. The styles of the grave goods and the inscriptions on the bronzes showed that this cemetery was the family cemetery of the Marquis of Zeng in the early Western Zhou Dynasty. The excavation of the Yejiashan Cemetery has academic significances for the researches on the relationships between the Zeng and E States and Zeng and Chu States to the east of the Han River in the early Western Zhou Dynasty.

Full text
Abstract:
It is now established that the process of milk production and its constituents are affected by different physiological factors, including hormones and neurotransmitters. Bombesin (BBS) is a tetradecapeptide that isolated and characterized from the skin of amphibian frog bombina bombina (Jontown et al., 1995). Subsequently, several BBS-like peptides have been identified in mammals consisting of various forms of gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) and neuromedin B (NMB), together with their distinct receptor subtypes (Jian et al., 1999). Nowadays, they have been found at different parts of the body such as neuron system, gastrointestinal tract and some nucleuoses of hyphothalamus of vertebrates and invertebrates. The bombesin family of peptides are biologically active in the central nervous system and periphery. Bombesin achieves to its functions by starting the secondary messenger of inositol triphosphate (IP3). The effects of bombsin on production and constituents of the milk are not studied yet. The aim of this experiment was to determine whether injections of bombesin increase milk amount and constituents in the cows.

Abstract:
Abstract 58 Background: In 2011, an international panel of breast cancer experts developed the first Advanced Breast Cancer (ABC) Consensus Guidelines to provide standards and improved care for the multidisciplinary care of patients with this common disease. We sought to adapt the ABC guidelines for China, incorporating cultural standards and available Chinese resource, and identifying suitable formed guideline. Methods: We organized the Chinese Consensus Guidelines Conference for ABC (CABC) yearly from 2013 through 2015 in Beijing as a joint effort between the China Medical Women's Association, the Organization of Beijing Sunshine Great Wall Oncology Program, Peking University, The panel included 50 breast oncology and surgery experts from 20 provinces, as well as two external consultant oncologists from the U.S. and Singapore. Permission was obtained from the ABC Chair to use the guidelines as a basis for our discussion. All questions were presented and discussed in detail, including a review of current applicable data, and panel members voted on each question. Results: The main issues discussed included; 1. In China the patient treatment decision making generally by family members. 2. Use of sequential single agent chemotherapy for standard risk in China most experts still prefer combination therapy. 3. The trastuzumab are not covered by health insurance in China and/or pertuzumab is not yet available. 5. For hormone receptor positive ABC, some physicians in China prefer to start with chemotherapy . 7. Not well accepted by Chinese patients. Details of final voting and Chinese consensus will be presented. Conclusions: Standard guidelines are critical, but must be tailored to be used effectively in specific countries. The CABC has effectively discussed, modified and distributed guidelines for the treatment of ABC in China. Abstract:
Background:COVID-19 is a major challenge worldwide. Although the risk for a severe disease course is low among children with COVID-19, symptoms may be exacerbated by underlying disease and/or immunosuppressive medication. We analysed clinical data from COVID-19 cases in among pediatric patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) in Germany reported to the BIKER registry. Objectives:This is an analysis of clinical data for 56 COVID-19 cases reported to the German BIKER registry from 29 German pediatric rheumatology centers and clinics from February 2020 to January 2021.Methods:The major task of the German BIKER (Biologics in Paediatric Rheumatology) Registry is surveillance of biologics used in pediatric rheumatology patients. Following the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany, a survey was established to proactively interview all participating centers regarding the occurrence, presentation and outcome of SARS-CoV-2-infected children with rheumatic diseases. Initially, the interviews were conducted in weekly intervals, later bi-weekly.A standardized Adverse Event of Special Interest form was developed requesting biographic data, pre-treatment, current medication, data on clinical presentation, course, treatment and outcome of COVID-19 pediatric rheumatology patients. Results:In all, 56 patients with JIA and SARS-CoV-2 infection were reported (Table 1). Of these patients, 71% were 12 or more years old.Table 1.Patient characteristics. Forty-four patients (79%) received either a conventional DMARD or a biologic. Most patients had a polyarticular course of their JIA (57%).In 49 of the 56 cases (88%) COVID-19 was detected directly by PCR (n=46), by antigen test only (n=1) or an undisclosed method (n= 2). Six patients had detectable SARS-CoV2 antibodies and reported to have had typical symptoms. One patient tested negative but developed typical symptoms at approximately the same time a positive SARS-CoV-2 test was returned for a family member.Symptoms were reported in 43 of the 56 patients (77%): fever n=15, rhinitis n=14, cough n=12, headache n=10, loss of sense of taste and/or smell n=9, pharyngitis n=8, fatigue n=5, musculoskeletal pain n=5, GI symptoms n=2 (abdominal pain n=1, diarrhoea n=1), dizziness n=3, encephalitis/seizure/respiratory failure/death n=1. Thirteen patients (23%) were asymptomatic.A 3½ -year-old female patient initially diagnosed with systemic JIA developed intracranial oedema and respiratory failure. Her SARS-CoV2 PCR test was positive and pulmonary imaging displayed typical changes in lung texture. Before her SARS-CoV-2 infection, the patient was treated with methotrexate and low-dose steroids. Unfortunately, she died three days following hospital admission. Genetic testing revealed an inborn immunodeficiency. Except for this one patient, all other cases were treated as outpatients and no deaths were reported. Conclusion:Apart from one patient with an inborn immunodeficiency who died from her COVID-19 infection, no case of hospitalization or severe COVID-19 was reported in our cohort of JIA patients. At the time of COVID-19 diagnosis, nearly 80% of patients in our cohort had been treated with conventional DMARD and/or biologics. This seemed not to have a negative effect on severity or outcome of SARS-CoV2 infection.Acknowledgements:Thanks also for contributing Reports for this analysis to: Normi Brück, Frank Dressler, Ivan Foeldvari, Tilman Geikowski, Hermann Girschick, Johannes-Peter Haas, Tilmann Kallinich, Bernd-Ulrich Keck, Eggert Lilienthal, Anna-Hedrich Müller, Ulrich Neudorf, Nils Onken, Peggy Rühmer.Disclosure of Interests:None declared.

Abstract:
After comparison of the types of the four species of Clupisoma recorded from Yunnan, China, no morphological differences between Clupisoma nujiangense Chen et al. and C. yunnanensis (He, Huang & Li) were found, and it is confirmed that the former is a synonym of the latter. Clupisoma yunnanensis occurs in the middle and lower of Nu-jiang, belonging to the Salween River basin. Clupisoma longianale (Huang) and Clupisoma sinense (Huang) are found in the lower Lancang-jiang, in the Mekong River basin. Using concatenated mitochondrial genes and nuclear genes, Wang et al. (2016) reconstructed the phylogeny of 38 species of catfishes belonging to 28 genera and 14 families. They reinstated the family, Ailiidae for a monophyletic Asian catfish group comprised of the three genera Ailia, Laides and Clupisoma. The family-group name Ailiidae was first proposed by Bleeker (1858) as Ailichthyoidei for a subfamily containing Ailia Gray. As such, there was no legitimate reason for Wang et al. (2016) to propose the Ailiidae as a new family group name but, instead, resurrect the existing name from the synonymy of the Shilbeidae.

Abstract:
This study analyzes how Buddhist philosophical ideas in Chinese and Indian scriptures were interpreted to make them more understandable in mediaeval Japan. It is based on the textual analysis of a cycle of poems entitled Kasuga hyakushu sō, composed by the Tendai monk Jien (1155‒1255). Jien consciously uses the poetic language of waka to express complex philosophical concepts. A textual analysis of Kasuga hyakushu sōōōо (circa 1218) sheds light on some seminal features of Japanese Buddhism including the place of Japanese deities (kami) in the system of Buddhist teaching, the time-spatial concept of the sangoku-mappō. Kasuga hyakushu sō was an offering to the Kasuga Shrine, where the ancestral deities of the Fujiwara clan were worshipped. Conversely, this cycle of poems also reflects the historiosophical views of Jien, who believed that the role of the Fujiwara family in the history of Japan was willed by Amaterasu.

Abstract:
Defective protein C (PC) pathway predisposes patients to venous thromboembolism (VTE)and is mostly, but not exclusively, attributed tohereditary PC or protein S (PS) deficiencies and activated PC resistance caused by factor V Leiden mutation. In a patient with acute mesenteric venous thrombosis and positive family history of VTE associated with the impaired PC pathway function determined by thrombin generation test, we identified a novel heterozygous prothrombin mutation p.Arg541Trp. Two more patients with positive family history of VTE carrying the same mutation were identified in a cohort of another 373 unrelated patients, making an overall prevalence of 0.8%. Family investigation revealed 11 individuals in the three pedigrees harboring the heterozygous prothrombin p.Arg541Trp mutation, and 8 of them (72%) had experienced episodes of VTE. Functional studies indicated the mutation moderately decreased procoagulant activity of prothrombin and had mild impact on the inactivation of thrombin by its inhibitor antithrombin. However, the amino acid residue substitution significantly compromised PC activation by thrombin, both in the absence and presence of soluble thrombomodulin, and thus rendered prothrombin function procoagulant biased. In conclusion, the prothrombin p.Arg541Trp mutation constitutes a new genetic risk factor of VTE by impairing function of PC pathway and tilting thrombin's procoagulant activity over anticoagulant function. Abstract:
ABSTRACT This paper investigates how the presence of female directors on corporate boards impacts the performance of family firms. This study enriches the literature on gender diversity on corporate boards and its effects on firm performance by focusing on a country in which family businesses are dominant. The empirical analysis is conducted on a sample of 165 Italian-listed firms from 2011 to 2016, representing the period during which the mandatory gender quota law was introduced and implemented in Italy. The results show a positive relationship between the presence of women on corporate boards and firm performance, specifically in family owned businesses. These findings lead to the conclusion that female directors do not have a negative impact on firm performance. And, given the domination of family businesses and a mandatory gender quota law in Italy, this study makes a regulatory and performance assessment not previously examined in the literature. Abstract:
AbstractThere are several intriguing aspects to theYuanshibiography of Jia Shira (d. c.1268). Two substantial Chinese inscriptions run in parallel with the text, allowing an unusual level of comparison between sources and thus insight into theYuanshicompilers’ editorial priorities. The primary subject, though referred to as aHanren(and therefore allowed to leave Qaraqorum’s northern climate), is exclusively identified by the Mongolian nickname Shira (‘golden/yellow’), due to the colour of his facial hair. All of Shira’s descendants, while being ‘Han’ and remembered in formal Chinese inscriptions, are recorded under Turco-Mongol names, and the texts highlight generosity in famine relief to people in the Mongol heartland alongside more typical tropes of concern for a ‘Chinese’ populace. The selective deployment of cultural elements thus differs from other biographical narratives in a number of key aspects. While none of its subjects are of great fame, the texts draw together key themes in Yuan historiography, linking events and personalities through a Mongol century from Shira’s introduction to Sorqaqtani Beki in 1224, via cooking for Qubilai and managing expenses for Ayurbarwada, to the 1323 execution and subsequent rehabilitation of Shira’s great-grandson Tügen Buqa.

Abstract:
As is true in much of the developed world, the older population of China is rapidly increasing. This presents many unique problems for Chinese society. Of all diseases associated with aging, Alzheimer's disease is the most stressful for the family. This stress on the family will in turn present problems for society. The purpose of this study is to explore the dynamics of caregiving for Alzheimer's patients in China. The investigators have completed a study with primary caregivers of Alzheimer's patients in and around Beijing, Jinan, and Baoding in the fall of 1997. The questionnaire focused on the stress that such a long-term illness causes in the household. Questions were designed to measure which family member provides primary and supplemental care as well as the nature of the care.

Abstract:
Progressive pseudorheumatoid dysplasia (PPD) or spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia tarda with progressive arthropathy (SEDT-PA) is a rare arthropathy of childhood involving the axial skeleton as well as small peripheral joints. A 10-year-old boy was referred by a general practitioner with pain and deformity in the fingers of hands and limping gait. There was no joint synovitis although the finger joints were bulky on examination with mild flexion deformity. Patient had exaggerated kyphosis and lumbar lordosis with pigeon chest and restricted hip joint movements. Anteroposterior X-rays of the hip joints revealed widened and flattened epiphyses of the femoral heads with narrow and irregular joint spaces. Hand X-rays revealed periarticular osteopenia, significant narrowing of the joint spaces of proximal interphalangeal, and distal interphalangeal joints, together with osseous enlargement of the basis of metacarpal bones and phalanges. Spinal X-rays revealed generalized platyspondyly and anterior beaking of vertebral bodies. There was a clear mega os trigonum in his feet images. All blood investigations were normal with no evidence of inflammation and thyroid hormone levels were normal. The diagnosis of PPD was favored by imaging studies and normal inflammatory markers and the patient was treated with physiotherapy, family counseling, and anti-inflammatory medications.

Abstract:
The genus Colocasiomyia de Meijere (Diptera, Drosophilidae) is known to include 30 described and nearly 60 undescribed species classified into six species groups. Among these, the C. gigantea group of seven known species (two Southeast Asian and five Chinese) proved to be peculiar for its specificity on monsteroid (subfamily Monsteroideae, family Araceae) host plants. In this paper, two new species, C. todai Jiao & Gao, sp. nov. and C. liae Jiao & Gao, sp. nov., are described as members of the C. gigantea group with specimens collected from inflorescences of the monsteroid host species Rhaphidophora peepla (Roxb.) Schott and R. crassicaulis Engl. & Krause, respectively, in Yunnan, China. The two new species are delimitated, in comparison with all known species, based on not only morphological but also DNA barcode (partial sequence of the mitochondrial COI, i.e., cytochrome c oxydase subunit I, gene) data. A revised key to all the nine species of the C. gigantea species group is provided.

Abstract:
The Chinese state acts in concert with the patriarchal family to sustain its authoritarian legitimacy, and both institutions are grounded in paternalistic cultural norms. The state also harnesses the “quality” of Chinese families through the law, which often saddles women with more burdens and responsibilities than it does men. From the 1950 Marriage Law to the 2015 Universal Two-Child Policy, the state has directly politicized the family through explicit mandates on marriage and reproductive control as well as repressive deployment of families as a tool for social stability and national security. To unpack this state-family project, this article addresses how the patriarchal state constructs and manages a filial nationalist population in order to secure its authoritarian rule. Through the lens of emerging Chinese feminist and queer scholarship on families, this article also asks how the state-family project has affected people and families that are intersectionally marginalized by gender, sexuality, class, household registration [hukou 户口], and so on. Lastly, this article spotlights new developments in feminist and lgbtq movements as they advocate for marginalized individuals and families.

The genus (family Petraiidae) was only known from the lower Givetian of southern China. Further species were found by revision of older literature data: Zaphrentis polonica Sobolev, 1904 from the lower Givetian of Skały, Holy Cross Mountains, Poland (meanwhile assigned to Stewartophyllum, Adradosia) and Syringaxon independense Stainbrook, 1946 and Syringaxon calvini Stainbrook, 1946, from the Frasnian Independence Shale of Iowa, USA are now transferred to Neosyringaxon. Such a disjunctive record occurs often in Cyathaxoniid assemblages of ahermatypic Rugosa and suggests a perhaps nearly cosmopolitan distribution.

Abstract:
Factionalism is a dimension of informal politics that is hardly unique to China, but it has become well entrenched there for several reasons. We know from available survey data that Chinese political culture is relatively low in trust, and the faction provides a particularly useful refuge from the tiger world of politics, organized as it is around that culturally sanctioned dimension of trust known as guanxi (connections) (Shi 2001 and 1997; Pye 1981). From an individual perspective, although this has been changing more swiftly in society at large via marketization, the institutional landscape of elite politics is still dominated by the looming presence of a single monolithic party-state, to which all auxiliary organizations are subordinated in a corporatist hierarchy; any smaller and more personally useful organizations must be formed sub rosa on a self-help basis. From a structural-functional perspective, the faction serves several functions neglected by party-state corporatism: it services individual careers, in both a defensive and an offensive capacity (i.e., to protect against damaging criticism or purge, and to mobilize support for upward mobility); it provides a way of mobilizing minimal coalitions in policy conflicts; and it may even provide a microcosmic unit beyond the family for social identity and solidarity. Factions have always been rampant in Chinese Communist Party (CCP) politics, but precisely because of the universally acknowledged propensity for factionalism, they are formally proscribed by the Leninist rules of innerparty life and hence exist only semiclandestinely, looming more clearly when the central leadership weakens or is in dispute (as, for example, during a succession crisis). Factions are assembled on the basis of a combination of one's formal and informal “bases” (zhengzhi jichu), the formal consisting of trusted colleagues and subordinates in one's current work unit, the informal consisting of ties made during one's previous socialization or career and carefully cultivated thereafter. Factional activities may most easily be understood according to realist or realpolitik methodological assumptions, but as we shall see, they need not operate in an ideological vacuum. Inasmuch as factions exist tacitly and become politically operational opportunistically, the precise affiliation of a given political actor may change over time depending on the issue at stake and other circumstances; hence faction membership can never be tabulated with certainty, even by faction leaders. A given political actor may have at his or her disposal a range of connections that varies in chronological depth (i.e., spanning x generations) and institutional breadth (i.e., spanning x organizational hierarchies). At a given time and place, the actor may need these categories to define him- or herself factionally. On such occasions, a strong factional network (i.e., one that has been assiduously cultivated over time) is useful and perhaps even indispensable to the actor's survival and highly useful for the pursuit of future political ambitions.

Abstract:
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee is a saga of the trials and tribulations, joys and sorrows of a Korean family spanning from 1910 to 1989. Lee is a Korean-American author whose work engages with themes of the diasporic Korean identity. Pachinko was published in 2017 to critical acclaim and it was in the running for the National Book Award for Fiction. Pachinko is a historical novel and its panoramic gaze encompasses twentieth century Korea giving us a terrifyingly real account of Korean society from the Japanese colonization of Korea to the Second World War. The Financial Times wrote in their review of the book: “We never feel history being spoon-fed to us; it is wholly absorbed into character and story, which is no mean feat for a novel covering almost a century of history.” It is the first novel about Korean history and culture written for English language readers.

IBM’s most recent global telecommunications consumer survey reveals that the deteriorating economic conditions in many European countries and the empowerment of the consumer exert negative pressure on the business of communications service providers. The results shed light on a budget-conscious, demanding consumer spending an increasing amount of time online, more apt to interface with their friends and family over social networks sites about their services rather than communicate directly with the provider. Many consumers’ are growing less loyal as their expectations rise and as they take advantage of new channels of information. The paper gives recommendations how providers can gain competitive advantage by deepening their consumer insights, encourage interactions and create an emotional connection to their consumers as seen in other industries.

Abstract:
The fairly-well preserved ruins of the royal cities of the ancient kingdom of Koguryo, together with imperial tombs and nobles’ tombs all bear witnesses testifying the existence of a lost civilization. Archaeological findings include the remains of three cities used as capitals where 14 mausoleums of kings of different dynasties and 26 tombs of the royal family members stand to this day. With the exception of the Wunu Mountain city lying outside Ji'an in nearby Huanren County, the other two cities, Wandu mountain city and Guonei city, together with all the mausoleums and tombs are all located within Ji'an City, Jilin Province. The present paper attempts to carry on a comprehensive yet profound analysis on the development strategies as an overall tourism program in order to display the great advantages and potentials to turn the site into a tourist attraction while attaching great importance to a detailed analysis of the disadvantages including a warning of treat facing the historical relics worthy of the name of a world cultural heritage site. Development strategies are put forth as to the steps in the orientation for the establishment of Koguryo as a great scenic spot with historic and cultural significance. Promotional programs are also offered which include improvement on the city image of the whole area of Ji'an, together with the uplifting of its urban infrastructure especially its traffic amenities, namely, a whole road network leading in all directions. Suggestions are also put forward to set up a whole chain of tourist products linking with the construction of the cultural relics as well as cooperation programs for regional development.

ABSTRACT This study examines ten factors associated with fraudulent financial reporting (FFR) in Malaysian publicly listed companies. We hypothesize that three factors proxy for management rationalization, four factors proxy for management motives, and three factors proxy for the opportunity to commit fraud. Our sample consists of 53 fraud firms convicted of securities fraud and 53 no-fraud firms, all of which were listed on the Bursa Malaysia and have a complete set of data from 1996–2007. With regard to rationalization, we find that prior violations and founders on the board are positively and significantly associated with FFR. With regard to motive, we find that financial distress is positively and significantly associated with FFR while family ownership is negatively and significantly associated with FFR. Our opportunity for fraud proxies, multiple directorships, and audit quality are positively and significantly associated with FFR. Additionally, we find evidence of earnings management in the years leading up to FFR.

AbstractThe family †Peipiaosteidae contains the genera †Peipiaosteus, †Stichopterus, †Spherosteus, †Yanosteus, and †Liaosteus, all from Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous deposits of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia. Although the family has taxonomically expanded since it was first established for †P. pani Liu and Zhou, 1965, the amount of detailed comparative data for many of the taxa involved is lacking. In this paper, we describe the osteology of the monotypic genus †Yanosteus from the Yixian Formation (Early Cretaceous) of China largely on the basis of a newly prepared, well-preserved specimen. †Yanosteus is characterized by a series of infraorbital ossicles (a characteristic of the family), a broad, rounded palatopterygoid, a robust dentary, an extremely small opercle and a subopercle with distinctly long and rounded anterior process and a posteriorly scalloped margin, a broad and weakly forked caudal fin, an elongate dorsal fin with more than 160–178 fin rays (diagnostic for the genus), and a short but well-formed pectoral fin spine. We use the results of this study to discuss the characters of the †Peipiaosteioidei and the diversity of †peipiaosteioids.

Abstract:
This paper is a continuation of our previous work on an HIV-1 therapy model of fighting a virus with another virus [Jiang et al., 2009]. The work in [Jiang et al., 2009] investigated cascading bifurcations between equilibrium solutions, as well as Hopf bifurcation from a double-infected equilibrium solution. In this paper, we propose a modification of the model in [Revilla & Garcia-Ramos, 2003; Jiang et al., 2009] by adding a constant η to the recombinant virus equation, which accounts for the treatment of constant injection of recombinants. We study the dynamics of the new model and find that η plays an important role in the therapy. Unlike the previous model without injection of recombinant, which has three equilibrium solutions, this new model can only allow two biologically meaningful equilibrium solutions. It is shown that there is [Formula: see text] depending on η, such that the HIV free equilibrium solution [Formula: see text] is globally asymptotically stable when the basic reproduction ratio, [Formula: see text]; [Formula: see text] becomes unstable when [Formula: see text]. In the latter case, there occurs the double-infection equilibrium solution, [Formula: see text], which is stable when [Formula: see text] for some [Formula: see text] larger than [Formula: see text], and loses its stability when [Formula: see text] passes the critical value [Formula: see text] and bifurcates into a family of limit cycles through Hopf bifurcation. Our results show that appropriate injection rate can help eliminate the HIV virus in the sense that the HIV free equilibrium can be made globally asymptotically stable by choosing η > 0 sufficiently large. This is in contrast to the conclusion for the case with η = 0 in which, the recombinants do not help eliminate the HIV virus but only help reduce the HIV load in the long term sense.

Abstract:
Mimarachnidae is an extinct planthopper family of the superfamily Fulgoroidea, with ten genera from the Cretaceous of Eurasia. Here, we describe a new genus, Cretodorus gen. nov. and two new species, Cretodorus granulatus sp. nov. and C. angustus sp. nov., on the basis of four specimens from the mid-Cretaceous amber of northern Myanmar. This remarkable genus can be separated from all other mimarachnids as follows: moderately elongate head, anteriorly protruded pronotum with straight lateral carinae, and unbranched MP of tegmen. Additionally, a new species of Burmissus Shcherbakov, 2017, Burmissus latimaculatus sp. nov., is described from the same Burmese amber, and the morphological characters of Burmissus szwedoi Luo, Jiang, Wang & Xiao, 2020 are supplemented for pronotum, clypeus, rostrum, and legs. These new discoveries enrich the palaeodiversity of mimarachnid planthoppers to fifteen species, ten of which are described from the mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber, suggesting that this extinct family remained highly diverse during this period.

Using both long forgotten and newly available steles from North China, this article looks at these ancient monuments to explore the rise and evolution of an epigraphic practice under Jurchen and Mongol rules (1127–1368). In particular it looks at steles erected to record genealogical information (called xianyingbei in general) in north China during the twelfth to fourteenth centuries, which was a new usage for the stele in the area. The article's main aim is to demonstrate how cultural integration among different social strata was triggered by the invasions of the Jurchen and Mongol conquerors, which in turn led to the formation of a new and legitimate way to compile family genealogies in north China.
