Abstract:
In Marxist literary criticism—for example, as represented by Fredric Jame-son’s influential study, The Political Unconscious—the interpretation of texts has frequently involved ideology critique, by which the critic attempts to disclose both the ideological content or structural limitations of a given text while also being attuned to the text’s utopian or revolutionary potential. In recent decades, Marxist criticism in particular and what is taken to be the hermeneutics of suspicion more generally have come under attack by literary scholars who favor various forms of postcritique, including surface reading and thin description. This essay suggests that postcritique, and all that it involves, contributes to the radical dismantling of higher education caused by rampant neoliberalism. The vocation of ideology critique and of Marxist criticism is, this essay contends, the most appropriate response to a society so utterly mystified as our own.

Abstract:
The article considers the first experience of interpretation and criticism of the Kantian doctrine of knowledge on the part of neo-scholastic thinkers in 1st half of the 19th century. It is shown that the transition from confessional polemics, which hadn’t philosophical in­terpretation, to the presentation and analysis of Kantian epistemology in Cesare Baldinotti’s treatise “Tentaminum metaphysicorum” (1817), when scholar takes an under­standing of Kantianism as radical skepticism. At the same time, he left unanswered ques­tions about what type of traditional concepts Kantianism refers, and how it can be de­scribed in the language of scholasticism. The first problem was solved by the Italian thinker Gaetano Sanseverino, who tried to correlate Kantianism with models traditionally opposed to scholasticism (like averroism). The second problem was solved by Jaime Balmes and Joseph Kleutgen, who outlined the boundaries of the compromise between scholasticism and Kantianism, trying to describe Criticism in terms of Thomism and show possible intersection points between these doctrines. As a result of these efforts, it becomes clear that the mechanical transfer of solutions developed in medieval scholas­ticism to the problems of modern European philosophy is not a successful polemic strat­egy. It was necessary to update the scholastic philosophy in a modern European context, which was subsequently carried out by Matteo Liberatore and the Neo-Thomists who fol­lowed him.

Abstract:
Malay scholars of the archipelago have been active in producing works in various fields of Islamic studies such as fiqh, hadith and tafsir al-Quran. One of the works written in the field of tafsir al-Quran is Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan produced by Umar, M. S. This work is widely referenced by the community in understanding the contents of the Qur'an. However, it was found that there were previous researchers who thought that the author of this work did not use authoritative sources of reference when explaining the facts related to the Qur'an while the initial reading of the researcher found that the author did not use his own opinion when interpreting the verses of al- Quran, even many works of muktabar reference that he referred to. Since this work is still referenced by the community then a refinement effort must be made. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to study and trace the reference sources used by Umar, M. S in Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan, in addition to the researcher revealing how the references are processed using the genetic approach introduced by Goldman. Through this approach, all reference sources used from al-Jami ’al-Ahkam al-Quran by Al-Qurtubi, A. A. B. are revealed. The study shows that the author of Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan has taken five approaches when processing the text from the work he referred to, namely; the text is quoted accurately and in parallel from the work of al-Jami 'al-Ahkam al-Quran, the author quotes the text abstractly from the work, the author omits some words from the referenced text before being included in Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan, the author adds description and explanation against the quoted text, as well as the author denying part of the text referenced. The researcher revealed that Umar, M. S. referred to al-Jami ’al-Ahkam al-Quran when writing Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan to strengthen his work. Thus, he succeeds in doing so when the text referred to coincides with the text in his work. However, in certain places, there is the text of Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan which is contrary to the text of al-Jami 'al-Ahkam al-Quran. This makes his interpretation of this section dubious.

Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan politik pergerakan Soekarno saat pengasingannya di Bengkulu tahun 1938-1948. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian Sejarah (historis) dengan menganalisis sumber-sumber yang berkaitan dengan politik pergerakan Soekarno saat pengasingannya di Bengkulu. Langkah-langkah yang digunakan antara lain: Heuristik (mengumpulkan data), Kritik Sumber (pengujian data), Interpretasi (Menafsifkan data), dan Historiografi (penulisan hasil penelitian). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa politik pergerakan Soekarno saat pengasingannya di Bengkulu tahun 1938-1942 antara lain Soekarno berhasil menanamkan pengaruhnya dan menyebarkan gagasan nasionalisme di dalam berbagai kegiatan. Dalam organisasi Muhammadiyah soekarno berhasil menyelenggarakan konferensi se-sumatera muhammadiyah yang diberi nama konferensi daeratul kubra yang mempunyai tujuan selain meningkatkan mutu pendidikan dan pengajaran Soekarno juga menyampaikan pesan-pesan nasionalisme, memimpin dan membuat naskah teater yang mempunyai makna syarat akan perjuangan dan paham nasionalisme, membentuk klub debat cerdas sebagai wadah berfikir kritis masyarakat Bengkulu, selain itu Soekarno juga menjadi pelopor sekaligus pemersatu masyarakat Bengkulu dalam proses perenovasi Masjid Jamik Bengkulu.Kata Kunci: Politik, Pergerakan, Soekarno, Bengkulu. Abstract: This study aims to describe the politics of Soekarno movement during his exile in Bengkulu in 1938-1948. The research method used in this research is historical research by analyzing sources related to the politics of Soekarno movement during his exile in Bengkulu. The steps used include: Heuristics (collecting data), source criticism (data testing), interpretation (interpreting data), and historiography (writing research results). The results showed that the political movement of Soekarno during his exile in Bengkulu in 1938-1942, among others, Soekarno succeeded in instilling influence and spreading the idea of nationalism in various activities. In the Muhammadiyah organization, Soekarno succeeded in holding a conference throughout the Sumatran Muhammadiyah which was named the Daeratul Kubra Conference which had the aim in addition to improving the quality of education and teaching Soekarno also conveyed messages of nationalism, led and made theater texts which had the meaning of the conditions for struggle and nationalism understanding smart debate club as a forum for critical thinking of the people of Bengkulu, besides that Soekarno was also the pioneer and unifier of the Bengkulu people in the process of renovating the Jamik Bengkulu Mosque.Keywords: Politic, Movement, Soekarno, Bengkulu.

Abstract:
This study discusses the leadership of Regent Abdul Hadi in Jember Regency in 1968-1979. With the aim of knowing how Abdul Hadi's leadership was for two periods. This writing uses psychology to help provide an overview of the influence of individuals on the form and course of leadership. Leadership theory is used to analyze Abdul Hadi's form of leadership. This study employed a historical method consisting of heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Before becoming regent, he had a military background that influenced his leadership path. Abdul Hadi was elected Regent of Jember Regency by acclamation in 1968 when he served as Dandim 0824 Jember. The results showed that Abdul Hadi's paternalistic leadership style was used for two periods in regional development, this style was fatherly who always guided his subordinates. A friendly attitude and good communication between leaders and the community encouraged the development programs to be easier to implement. For example, in the construction of the Jami' Al Baitul Amien Mosque in Jember, the plan to build this mosque came from Abdul Hadi's desire to have a mosque that could accommodate the community for the next 5 years, but the funds at that time were insufficient. To overcome this, Abdul Hadi issued a policy to invite the whole community to work together in development, until in 1976 this development was completed. Another example of major development is the construction of the Gajah Mada to Kaliwates double way road. This development also involved the community in it, from joint discussions to the voluntary eviction of community houses. With the developments that have been carried out, Jember Regency has obtained facilities and better quality of life of the community

Working with a typology of different forms of "historical criticism," this essay urges (1) that historical criticism understood as reconstruction of "what really happened" and/or historical criticism that assumes the necessary segregation of "facts" from "faith" is inimical to theological interpretation; (2) that this form of historical criticism is increasingly difficult to support in light of contemporary work in the philosophy of history; and (3) that contemporary theological interpretation is dependent on expressions of historical criticism concerned with the historical situation within which the biblical materials were generated, including the sociocultural conventions they take for granted.

For forty years a debate has raged in Petronian studies between the moralists and, for want of a better term, the anti-moralists. From Highet in the 1940's to Bacon and Arrowsmith in the 1950's and 60's, the moralists held a certain advantage. Whatever important divergences there were among these critics, all agreed on a Petronius who stood in some critical relation to his society. The dissenting voices have grown much louder of late. Ironically, the literary brilliance of Arrowsmith's New Critical reading of the Satyricon helped to turn the tide against the moralist viewpoint. The more apparent the literary sophistication of the Satyricon has become, the less willing late twentieth century readers have been to see a programmatic moral critique as its main purpose. Sullivan's view of Petronius as a ‘literary opportunist’ has come to dominate the field.With Graham Anderson's book, Eros Sophistes: Ancient Novelists at Play, the retreat from the position of Highet is now complete. We have finally reached the logical, New Critical conclusion that the Satyricon is an entirely self-contained literary game without any message whatsoever; in effect we are told that, like any serious piece of literature, the Satyricon ‘should not mean, but be’. Anderson is eager to disavow ‘the unproven conviction that every work must have a message, however diffusely or perversely expressed’.

Art criticism can be described as an examination, determination, and mental activity that seeks the value of an art work. In an art criticism, different analysis strategies and methods can be chosen for the related artwork. Edmund Burke Feldman's “researching art criticism” criticism model, which is determined as a method in thearticle, is one of them. In th earticle, it is aimed to examine the method of “researching art criticism” in general, and in particular, to criticize Paula Rego’s artwork called “The Maids” with this method. <div class="Section1"><p class="Iabstrak"><strong>Abstract: </strong><em>This paper aims to discuss the methodology of interpretation criticism in the qur'anic studies discourse. As new plots in the Qur'an studies, the interpretation criticism has not been much sought after by Qur’anic scholars. As a consequence, in methodological discourse has not yet found a definite method can be used to criticize an interpretation. As for the thought-provoking critique of the interpretation for this still are sporadic and likely are political-ideological. For that, it needs special attention in developing area studies the Quran towards the study criticism of interpretation. Finally, this paper gives the conclusion that, in the discourse of criticism the methodological framework needed interpretation, as a step towards the operational interpretation of criticism. So, the criticism was done not nuanced political-ideological, but able to uphold the values of objectivity, comprehensiveness, scientific and systematic. There are at least four operational steps in carrying out work interpretation of criticism of the region of ontology, epistemology, and axiology i.e; Firstly, the critic must understand the substance of exegesis are an interpretation as process and interpretation as a product. Secondly, understand the construction of criticism interpretation, namely the construction of the historicity of the critique, the base of criticism, the purpose of criticism, as well as the principles and parameters of criticism. Thirdly, start working with two regions exegesis critique work i.e; intrinsic and extrinsic criticism. Fourthly, give the evaluation and assessment of the object of study of criticism that is good and decent, or perverted and unworthy of being used.</em></p><p class="Iabstrak"><strong>Abstrak:</strong> Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendiskusikan metodologi kritik tafsir dalam diskursus wacana Qur’anic Studies. Sebagai wilayah garapan baru dalam studi al-Qur’an, kritik tafsir belum banyak diminati oleh kalangan sarjana al-Qur’an. Akibatnya, dalam wacana metodologis belum banyak ditemukan metodebaku yang dapat digunakan untuk mengkritisi sebuah tafsir. Adapun pemikiran kritik tafsir selama ini masih bersifat sporadis dan cenderung bersifat politis-ideologis. Untuk itulah dibutuhkan perhatian khusus dalam mengembangkan wilayah studi al-Qur’an ke arah studi kritik tafsir. Akhirnya, tulisan ini memberi­kan kesimpulan bahwa, dalam diskursus kritisisme penafsiran, dibutuhkan kerangka metodologis sebagai langkah operasional kritik tafsir. Sehingga, kritik yang dilakukan tidak bernuansa politis-ideologis, namun mampu menge­depan­kan nilai-nilai objektivitas, komprehensivitas, ilmiah dan sistematis. Setidaknya terdapat empat langkah operasional dalam melaksanakan kerja kritik tafsir yang bermuara pada wilayah ontologis, epistemologis, dan aksiologis yaitu; Pertama, kritikus harus terlebih dahulu memahami hakikat tafsir yakni tafsir sebagai proses (<em>interpretation as process</em>) dan tafsir sebagai produk (interpretation as product). Kedua, memahami konstruksi kritik tafsir, yaitu historisitas kritik, landasan kritik, tujuan kritik, serta prinsip dan parameter kritik. Ketiga, memulai kerja kritik tafsir dengan dua wilayah kerja yaitu; kritik intrinsik dan kritik ekstrinsik. Keempat, memberikan evaluasi dan penilaian terhadap objek kajian kritik yaitu, baik (<em>maḥmūd</em>) dan layak pakai (<em>maqbūl</em>), atau menyeleweng (<em>munḥarif</em>) dan tidak layak digunakan (<em>mardūd</em>).</p></div>

The interpretation of the Bible in the present continues to grow rapidly. This progress has both positive and negative effects in the realm of biblical interpretation. The positive impact that is with the progress of interpretation, it was found many truth values that were not understood and now start out one by one. The negative as the progress of biblical interpretation is the loss of boundaries. With the method of high-criticism interpretation makes the Bible originally believed to be the infallible Word, and now it is equated with another book of lesser value than the scriptures. The Bible is aligned with the ordinary book, even the authority of the Bible as God's Word is in doubt, denied and demeaned to an ordinary literary work.This is a challenge for Christianity today. It takes a firm stance in the face of the Higher Criticism interpretation movement. Christians need to determine a position to deflect any allegations that undermine the authority of the Bible and any allegations that cast doubt on the inspiration and revelation of the existing Scriptures. Kitab Pembebasan is Eko Prasetyo’s first work in the field of interpretation contains the stories of prophets and friends in the Qur'an. For him, the stories of the prophets no longer have the power to change circumstances, then progressive logic brings Eko to an interpretation of the stories of the prophet to the surrounding social problems. When many commentators who interpret the Quran relate to the social community, then interpreting the Quran leads to social criticism being unique to discuss. So this paper is focused on discussing social criticism in the Book of Liberation. In this paper, there are indications of the content of social criticism Eko Prasetyo then grouped them into five fields, namely economics, religion, education, politics and society. Then explained based on the theme specifically. Then develop social criticism based on each theme. Among them is a criticism of the economic system of capitalism, interpretation of the meaning of Satan, tyranny, seditious and idolatrous, religious and financiers, criticism of Suharto and the New Order, the case of the murderous activist Salim deer. Also, Eko's other works were reviewed to develop his criticisms. In July 2001, the Irish Supreme Court decided that the right to a free primary education as contained in the Irish Constitution could not be extended to a 23-year-old autistic man, Jamie Sinnott. Much of the Supreme Court judgment is an exercise in statutory interpretation. The Court considered the meaning of both ‘primary’ and ‘education’ in the context in which it appeared in the Constitution – that of the rights of parents regarding the education of their children. Whilst it was happy to find that the type of on-going care and support required by Jamie Sinnott could be classified as education, nevertheless, the majority of the Irish Supreme Court limited the meaning of ‘primary’ education to that required by children and thereby excluding the care and support, which it recognised as ‘education’, required by profoundly handicapped adults. The impact of the Court's exercise in statutory interpretation is that, in Ireland, the right to free primary education is to be defined with regard to age and not needs. This paper examines the decision of the Irish Supreme Court against the background of the general right to education as provided for in international human rights law in an effort to ascertain the extent to which the Supreme Court decision, as it reflects Irish domestic law regarding the provision of free primary education, correlates with Ireland's international human rights obligations. In so doing, it will reveal the limited extent to which the rights of disabled person have been ‘integrated’ into the general right to education. To that end, Part 1 of this article will focus upon the Sinnott Case as it provides an effective summary of domestic law regarding primary education as contained in the Constitution, statute and case law as well as being the benchmark for the rights of disabled persons to education in Ireland. Part 2 will consider the provisions of international human rights law regarding that pertain to the rights of disabled persons. Part 3 will consider the right to education as provided for in international human rights treaties by comparing the provisions regarding the general right to education, provisions regarding primary education, and provisions regarding persons with disabilities. Part 4 concludes this article by drawing together the right to education and the rights of disabled individuals in an analysis of language and interpretation in an effort to determine the extent to which the rights of individuals, such as Jamie Sinnott are protected by both national and international law.

Uniłowski passed away while putting finishing touches to the essay we’re presenting below. Unfortunately, he never managed to send us the finished abstract/summary for this article, so it falls to us to try and summarise its main theses. The issues raised in this erudite and formally complex piece include such fundamental questions as: in what sense do the fictional worlds resemble the non-fictional one, and how do we inhabit them? What’s the relationship between immersion and interpretation? What real-life figures can help us imagine or visualise our intimate yet inherently social relationship with the fictional (are we guests, dwellers, passersby...)? Uniłowski looks for answers in contemporary Marxist criticism (Eagleton, Jameson, Berardi), sci-fi and fantasy writing (Lem, Sapkowski, Martin), as well as modern continental philoso phy (Gadamer, Heidegger) and – in the last part of the essay – contemporary game studies. We’re happy to be able to present Uniłowski’s piece in two versions, the original Polish as well as its English translation (by Jakob Ziguras). In order to preserve the unmistakable flow of Uniłowski’s thought in English, small changes were introduced – with the author’s full approval – in the English version. We trust that our Polish-speaking readers will fin the comparison of the two versions interesting and instruc tive, as they seem to give a unique insight into Uniłowski’s writing process.
