Abstract:
In Ivory Coast, mining is one of the major sources of income for local people. Because of mining, jobs have been created thus increasing employment opportunities in rural regions. Moreover, this is a job that does not require a lot of skills, so a lot of people are able to join at the same time earning huge money within a short amount of time. Not only does this occupation attract adults, children are also interested in this activity. However, the negative social impacts caused by this activity remain indisputable. Chemical products used by miners and unsanitary conditions are harmful not only to miners themselves but also to innocent local people. There is a large destruction of lands, and also prostitution, which leads to the spreading of many contagious diseases. The paper mainly focuses on the impact of artisanal gold mining and its affects to local livelihoods and the environment in Ivory Coast. Some key recommendations for addressing artisanal mining activities in order to have good options for sustainable management of mineral resources in the country will be discussed.

Abstract:
This study aim is to compare the competitiveness of Indonesia cocoa exports with the main ecporting countries of world cocoa beans such as Ivory Coast and Ghana from 2001 to 2016. The comparable of cocoa commodities are raw cocoa or cocoa beans. This research uses descriptive analysis using Revelaved Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Constant Market Share (CMS) approach. The analysis of Revelaved Comparative Advantage is used to determine the competitiveness level of Indonesian cocoa beans, Ivort Coast and Ghana, while Costant Market Share is used to decompose the export growth of Indonesia cocoa beans, Ivory Coast and Ghana into three determinants of export growth including Commodity Composite Effect, Market Distribution Securities and Effects of Competitiveness. RCA analysis shows Indonesia’s cocoa commodity has a comparative advantage in the international market, while CMS analysis shows that the increase of Inonesia cocoa exports is influenced by the increasing demand of world cocoa.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The charm of maritime delimitation and its enigmatic lessons hardly surprise us, yet the reasoning behind them sometimes seems seductively elusive. On September 23, 2017, a Special Chamber of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) issued its decision in Ghana v. Ivory Coast. The glamour of maritime delimitation is reason enough to note the judgment, but the case also addresses the equidistance principle for maritime delimitation, the standard for the acceptance of a tacit agreement, and international responsibility under Article 83 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Abstract:
Abstract This study addresses several problems of educational policy posed by the replacement of highly skilled expatriates in the Ivory Coast's labor force. Conceptualizing expatriate replacement as an import-substitution activity in which Ivorian labor substitutes for previously imported labor services, the authors apply a modified Domestic Resource Cost (DRC) analysis to evaluate Ivorian secondary and university educational programs necessary to train the local labor. This methodology, along with more conventional cost-benefit approach, confirms that education is economically desirable in the Ivory Coast and that resource allocation to the upper secondary level is especially warranted. Lower secondary education is useful in so far as it performs a conduit function for higher levels of training. The importance of university education will probably increase as the occupational-educational structure is upgraded through technological development. Finally, consideration should be given to instituting a system of tuition charges in order to equate social and private rates of return in upper secondary and university education.

Abstract:
In recent years, there has been a significant reinforcement of mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and African countries on the broad agenda. Russia builds these relations, taking into account new African realities and on the principles of sovereignty respect, national interests and equality. Today, the African agenda actively reflects in political meetings, economic forums, and scientific conferences, where the most famous is the Russia-Africa Forum of 2019 and 2023. In Ivory Coast, a diplomatic mission first appeared 7 years after gaining sovereignty, but then the ties were severed on Ivorian initiative due to the remaining significant French influence. Since 1986, the relations have been friendly and today they cover political dialogue, security, trade and economics, investments, energy, mining and new technologies, scientific exchanges, cultural, educational areas, etc. The educational sphere has traditionally been represented only by the practice of studying Ivorians in Russian universities. Nowadays, Russia participates in educational projects already in Ivory Coast. But their educational system is very poorly covered in Russian scientifical literature. The objectives of the article are to identify specifics of teacher training in Ivory Coast and to determine its problems and achievements.

Abstract:
The cocoa economy of Ivory Coast started in the eastern part of the country in the 1970s and spread to the central-western and then south-western regions. For nearly a decade, it has been in the West of Ivory Coast with a population increase caused by large waves of migration. This study aims to determine different factors explaining dynamics of the cocoa economy from the East to West of Ivory Coast. The method adopted consisted of processing Landsat images from 1985–2018 and an individual survey of 278 heads of households. The results obtained showed that the development of the cocoa economy led forest cover degradation with a total loss estimated at 60.80%, 46.39%, 20.76% and 51.18% of forest area in the East, Centre-West, South-West and West, respectively. The creation of new cocoa farms in the West of Ivory Coast is governed by non-native people (51.13%) settled between 2010 and 2018. About 41% of these producers come mainly from the Centre-West (25%) and the South-West (16%). In addition, 29% of producers come from the West of Ivory Coast. Despite the abiotic characteristics being considered unfavourable, the west of Ivory Coast is in the process of becoming the country’s new zone of high cocoa production.

Abstract:
This research supports the United Nations Children’s Fund’s (UNICEF) conceptualization, planning and implementation of a campaign for distribution of more than 12 million mosquito nets in Ivory Coast. Procured from four different suppliers in Asia, the nets were transported to the two ports in Ivory Coast before being pre-positioned at 71 Health Districts across the country, a mixed integer network flow model identifies optimal transport options. The process of modeling and the model developed in this paper brought a significant understanding of the problem and, consequently, a reduction in the overall procurement and logistics costs. The implications of using mathematical modeling by practitioners as a tool which contributes to solve humanitarian logistics problems are significant. Mathematical models, like linear programming, can greatly support overall decision-making within humanitarian organizations by helping to ensure that limited resources are used in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. However, it is important to ensure consultations with and involvement by on the ground practitioners to ensure developed solutions assessed to fit the operating context before being implemented.

Robusta coffee beans were convectively, microwave, and convectively-microwave heated at 230°C, 700 W, and 230°C/700 W (coupled heating), respectively, over periods of time ensuring the optimum sensory properties of the brews. HS-SPME/GC/MS analysis of the emissions from brews of the roasted coffee beans revealed 119 compounds. The highest total content of volatile substances was found in the brews prepared from convectively-microwave roasted coffee beans but the microwave roasting resulted in the most acceptable sensory properties of the brew aroma, presumably because of the lowest concentrations of the burnt note imparting compounds.

Abstract:
As the Sun progresses through its solar cycle and its activity increases, a greater number of sunspots occur, and solar fluxes become more intense. The change in solar activity is related to the change in electron and ion density of the ionosphere. Studying this relation is very important in terms of space plasma studies and space weather predictions, which play a significant role in radio and satellite communication as well as GPS navigation. In this paper, we are presenting the sunspot and solar flux data for solar cycle 24 (year 2008-2020). We are using C/NOFS satellite data to understand the variationof ion densities of the upper atmosphere with solar cycle 24. Our analysis shows decrease of H+ density by a factor of 10 and increase of O+ density by a factor of 10 during solar maxima. This data set can be used as a framework for future advancement in empirical modelling of regional and global ion density of the ionosphere.

Abstract:
Inflation is the main concern of developing Countries and particularly in Ivory Coast, a leading West Africa French speaking Country. The objective of this study is to make a comparative analysis of the effect of inflation on growth between Cameroon, a French speaking Central Africa Country where inflation is not a big concern and Ivory Coast. Using the Least Squares methodology, we find that inflation has no effect on economic growth in Cameroon during the study period. However, it has a negative and significant effect on economic growth in Ivory Coast. Also, the analysis of the causal relationship between inflation and economic growth using the Toda -Yamamoto framework and the Vector Autoregressive model show that there is a unidirectional causality from inflation to economic growth in Ivory Coast, while there is no causality between these variables in Cameroon.

Abstract:
The Ivory Coast was lauded as a development ‘success’ for 20 years after independence in 1960. In fact, the 1978 World Bank report on the Ivory Coast was sub-titled ‘the challenge of success’. Six years after the publication of this economic study, the so-called ‘miracle’ looked more like a mirage, so much so that an analyst could write: ‘no African country's creditworthiness has fallen more spectacularly than that of the Ivory Coast’. Domestically, it has been obliged to implement a severe austerity programme, and externally, to request a rescheduling of its debt. From a real growth rate of G.N.P. that had averaged more than 7 per cent a year since 1960, growth fell to 2 per cent in 1981, to zero per cent in 1982, and to −4.3 per cent in 1983.

Abstract:
This article examines the current state of the French language in Ivory Coast. The relevance of the study is related to the lack of research on the state of French in Ivory Coast, represented by the following varieties: Ivorian Popular French, Ivorian French and the Nouchi language code. Nouchi, an integral part of Ivory Coast's linguistic system and a crucial factor of Ivorian identity, remains a poorly researched phenomenon today. The aim of the work is to objectively describe the phonetic, morphological, lexical and syntactic changes that take place in French on the territory of Ivory Coast in a situation of interaction with the autochthonous languages under the influence of extralinguistic factors. The scientific novelty lies in the integrated approach to the study of the French language system in Ivory Coast and the differences between each of the varieties of French and standard French. The research uses general scientific (analysis, synthesis, generalization) and special methods (descriptive and comparative methods). The analysis of the French language system shows the distinctive features of the French varieties from the standard French on the phonetic, morphological, lexical and syntactical levels. Ivorian Popular French is characterised by the greatest influence from the autochthonous languages and numerous features at all levels of the language, caused by the lack of education of its speakers. The continuity and interconnectedness of all the varieties of language examined is highlighted: the oldest variant of Ivorian Popular French became the basis for the formation of modern Ivorian French. Nouchi, on the other hand, combines earlier variants of French with borrowings from the autochthonous and European languages. Ivorian French and Nouchi are now widespread in all social strata and contribute to the issue of Ivorian self-determination.

Abstract:
This paper provides an empirical assessment of the relationship between banking origins and the supply of credit in Ivory Coast. The analysis focuses on 14 banks composed of local banks, African banks and foreign banks outside Africa. The study covers the period from 2000 to 2016. Using the panel data approach, we show that local banks positively influence the supply of credit unlike foreign and African banks. Foreign banks, on the other hand, have a negative influence on the supply of credit in Ivory Coast. In addition, the results highlight the positive impact of growth and market share on the supply of credit to the private sector. On the other hand, the size of banks and the inflation rate are unfavourable to the supply of credit in Ivory Coast. The study suggests that local banks should be strengthened so that they can provide more financing to the Ivorian economy.

Abstract:
This article aims to examine the relations of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Ivory Coast in the achievement of public administration reforms. While the former had to devise adequate structural adjustment programmes, the latter must set workable legal and policy frameworks for effective implementation of the programmes. The approach taken is a textual analysis based upon evaluating various IMF programmes contained in four successive Structural Adjustment Programmes (SAPs) and the legal and policy frameworks set in compliance with IMF programmes. Based on its membership with the IMF, Ivory Coast benefits from the United Nations' agency's assistance should the need arise. As a result, from 1980 to date, regular cooperation has existed between the two entities. Whatever the outcome of their cooperation, lessons are always learned to improve future dealings. The value of this article lies in the characterisation of the nature of the cooperation between Ivory Coast and the IMF and the shift in approach to the practice of public administration and public management in Ivory Coast for sustained economic growth.

Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract Background A country’s health expenditure significantly improves its population health status. This study aims to examine the determinants of health expenditure in dictatorships. Methods We designed a mixed methods research approach. First, we used panel data from 1995 to 2014 covering 99 countries (n = 1488). Fixed effects regression models were fitted to determine how different types of authoritarianism relate to health expenditure. Second, we chose Ivory Coast to apply the synthetic control methods for a case study. We constructed a synthetic Ivory Coast, combining other dominant party regimes to resemble the values of health expenditure predictors for Ivory Coast prior to a regime change from a dominant party system to personalist dictatorships in 2000. Results We found that dominant party autocracies, compared with non-dominant party regimes, increased health expenditure (% of GDP) (1.36 percentage point increase, CI = 0.59–2.12). The marginal effect, however, decreased when an autocrat in this type of regime held elections (0.86 percentage point decrease, CI = 0.20–1.52). Furthermore, we found the difference in health expenditure between the actual Ivory Coast and its synthetic version starts to grow following the regime change in 2000 (in 2000, actual: 6.00%, synthetic: 6.04%; in 2001, actual: 4.85%, synthetic: 5.99%), suggesting a pronounced negative effect of the government transition on Ivory Coast health expenditure. Conclusion The findings suggest that different forms of dictatorship are associated with varying levels of health expenditure. Where dictatorships rely on popular support, as is the case with dominant party dictatorships, health expenditure is generally greater.

Abstract:
Objectives: This qualitative study investigates a reality check of the interaction between Islam and Christianity in (Man) City, by investigating the level of peaceful coexistence among Muslims and Christians in (Man’s) Ivory Coast. Methods: The research used specific selection to provide concrete information to address the current situation among the citizens and to find suitable solutions to maintain peaceful coexistence among 3 religious groups: imams, pastors, and community members, chosen based on their experiences in the current coexistence situation. Results: The findings indicated that the current interaction between Muslims and Christians has been amicable and warm and that both religion members live in peace and harmony, since President Ouattara was assigned in 2011, who established a good relationship between the two religions. It was also found that the participants view Christianity as the favorite religion of the government, while Muslims have the greater influence in the society. Conclusions: The research concludes that Ivorian Muslims and Christians enjoy peaceful coexistence in harmony, tolerance and mutual respect. Religious dialogue plays some crucial roles in resolving disputes and misunderstandings. The study therefore, recommends that the government and the religious leaders need to create awareness so as to educate the citizens on the importance of peaceful religious coexistence in the society.
