Abstract:
By developing the biographical genre though a “translocal micro-history” approach, the research aims to study the figure of Eric J. Hobsbawm focusing on his elective affinity with Italy. It examines the ways in which the encounter of the English historian with this country took place and was renewed from the fifties until the new Millennium. First, it analyzes the relationships networks which Hobsbawm created in Italy or with Italians worldwide; secondly, it considers the results that these interactions provoked at the level of scientific production and political reflection, trying to capture at the same time the transformations that his political identity underwent in contact with the Italian Communist Party. Moreover it try to explore the features that his reputation reached in Italy, discussing the influences his production exerted on Italian historiographical context and on Italian public opinion.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This research stems from the need of the Italian Cultural Institute to map the institutions involved in teaching Italian in the area considered and to analyse the quality of the teaching and learning process of the Italian language. The objectives are multiple and linked to the importance of finding the causes that slow the growth of the study of Italian in Japanese Kansai. Therefore, the first part of this action research will outline the cultural and linguistic education coordinates that characterize the Japanese context; in the second part, the research data will be interpreted in order to trace new methodological development trajectories to increase the quality of the Italian teaching process in Kansai.Part 1 This part focuses on the situation of foreign language teaching in Japan. It also describes the strategies to promote the teaching of the Italian language in Japan from 1980 to now. 1 Modern Language Policy in Japan Between Past and Present This first chapter describes linguistic policy for the promotion of foreign languages in Japan by the Ministry of Education (MEXT). 2 Japanese Educational System Focus of this chapter are the cultural, pedagogical and linguistic education characteristics of the context under investigation. 3 Teaching Italian Language in Japan The purpose of this chapter is to outline the general frame of the spreading of the Italian cultural model in a traditional Japanese context. Vittoria, Barsotti, Carozza Paolo G, Cartabia Marta, and Simoncini Andrea. Italian Constitutional Justice in Global Context. Oxford University Press, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/law/9780190214555.001.0001.

Full text
Abstract:
This is the first book published in English to provide to an international audience a comprehensive examination of the Italian Constitutional Court (ItCC) and its principal lines of jurisprudence, historical origins, current engagement with transnational European law, organization, and procedures. In global constitutional dialogue, the voice of the ItCC has been entirely absent due to a relative lack of both English translations of its decisions and of focused scholarly commentary in English. The ItCC represents one of the strongest and most successful examples of constitutional judicial review, and is distinctive in its structure, institutional dimensions, and well-developed jurisprudence. Moreover, the ItCC has developed a unique voice among global constitutional actors in its adjudication of a broad range of topics from fundamental rights and liberties to the allocations of governmental power and regionalism. The goal of this book is to elevate Italian constitutional jurisprudence into an active participant role in global constitutional discourse and describe the “Italian style” in global constitutional adjudication. The authors have carefully structured the work to allow the ItCC’s own voice to emerge: it presents broad syntheses of major areas of the Court’s case law, provides excerpts from notable decisions in a narrative and analytical context, addresses the tension between the ItCC and the Court of Cassation, and situates the development, character, and importance of the ItCC’s jurisprudence in the larger arc of global judicial dialogue.
