Abstract:
This study considers whether or not Italian Muslims are deemed a threat by Italian society. It attempts to verify the major lines of conflict in the relationship between Islam and Italian society, which is by tradition culturally connected to Catholicism. The study investigates different patterns of relationship between Catholic Italians and Muslim Italians in different Italian regions based on the national survey “La nuova religiosità in Italia” [New religiosity in Italy] (2007). By means of research data the authors detect regions with a high potential for conflict and regions where there is greater acceptance of Islam as well as better bases for societal cohesion and cooperation.

Abstract:
The paper proposes understanding the reading interest in Italian of the thinker Adam Smith (1723-1790), author of the Theory of Moral Sentiments and of the Wealth of Nations from the perspective of the partial review of his library’s catalogue, with approximately 1,000 titles published in English, French, Italian, Greek and Latin. The list of books published in Italian, which Adam Smith purchased for his library and we assume he also read, since he quoted some, represent the Appendix of the present work. From his Italian library, 60 volumes were identified, published between 1547 (B. Castiglione, Il Cortegiano) and 1784 (32 volumes from Parnaso Italiano ovvero Raccolto de’ Poeti Classici Italiani). Just a few years before his death, the great admiror of Italian literature, assiduous reader of Italian poetry, drama, memoirs, correspondence, biographies, jurisprudence, economics, art and history (especially that of Venice and Florence) was still purchasing and reading books from the Italian states, a fact which sketches a personality with a profound cultural and humanities features.

Abstract:
Summary Until the late 18th century, authors of vernacular grammars often adopted the categories of Latin grammar to describe these languages. However, by adapting the Latin system to English, German or Italian, grammarians could succeed only in part, because these languages work in different ways. In the present paper, the author discusses the solutions that Karl Philipp Moritz (1756–1793) proposes in his Englische and Italiänische Sprachlehre für die Deutschen, textbooks for German learners. The author analyses to what extent Moritz’s grammar descriptions were influenced by the Latin model as well as by the traditions of English and Italian grammar writing that he encountered in his sources. It will be demonstrated that he translated extensively from the works of other authors: For his English textbook (Moritz 1784), he mainly used James Greenwood’s (1683?–1737) The Royal English Grammar (1737), and for Italian (Moritz 1791), he profited especially from Benedetto Rogacci’s (1646–1719) Pratica, e compendiosa istruzione circa l’uso emendato, ed elegante della Lingua Italiana (1711).

ABSTRACT: Internationalization is assuming an increasingly important role in education, since it is posed as an essential process and a challenge for universities. However, for universities to successfully perform this action, they need to be trained for this. From this requirement arises the development of projects and agreements that aim at the teaching-learning of foreign languages contemplated in the internationalization edicts, see Capes PrInt, and partnerships with international segments, see Memorandum of Understanding between the Italian Embassy and Brazilian universities participating of the Rede Andifes Idiomas Sem Fronteiras. In addition, the growing demand for calls and research grants in Italian universities has given rise in the Rede Andifes IsF of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) to the desire to expand the action and impact on the academic environment, and considering the current context and the possibilities of distance learning, the course Preparazione agli esami di competenza linguistica was developed. In this article, in addition to reporting the experience from the structuring of the course and its applicability, we will share the experiences in the development of the activities to implement the valutazione a distanza, the path taken and the challenges encountered, which provided the authors with a great learning experience, reinforcing how much this type of course and the commitment of the teachers can contribute to the expansion of the Rede Andifes IsF and the internationalization process between Brazilian and Italian universities. Keywords: Italian language teaching/learning. Abstract:
This article questions the definition of a fascist organization settled abroad: the Casa d'Italia - House of Italy -, analyzing its institutional and constitutional development. The author reviews the political affair which brought to the creation in the '20s of the fasci all'estero - Fascist abroad - and to the elaboration of the "Case d'Italia" in the '30s. She focuses on the creation of the "Direzione degli italiani all'estero" - Directions of Italians abroad - at Foreign ministry, that institutionalized and gave definition and centralization to the "Case d'Italia". In France (country of the analysis), more than fifty "Case d'Italia" were built from 1928 to 1938. But most of them were not achieved in terms of organisation, services and structures. The most complete ones are located along the Italian border and in the areas of Italian high emigration. The Casa d'Italia was not only a place where Italian expatriates could looking for assistance, but it also became the symbol of Fascist Italy abroad and reached a new dimension that transformed it into a "temple" of fascist ideology through decorations, architectures, symbols and festivities.

Being Italian is not as simple or as straightforward as one might assume. For an Italian from the territories that Italy ceded to Yugoslavia in the wake of the Second World War, identifying as Italian, or to be seen as an Italian, was problematic, if not even dangerous. During and after the Second World War, most Italians from these territories abandoned their hometowns and became refugees in Italy. Some then emigrated overseas, where, for the most part, they continued to self-identify as Italians. This article looks at the Italian-Canadian author, radio personality, and activist Gianni Angelo Grohovaz, originally from Fiume (Italy), to determine what being Italian meant for him and how it conditioned his life and work.

Abstract:
Neorrealismo italiano. Elio Vittorini. Alimentazione. Cibo nella letteratura. ABSTRACT: This work analyses the presence of food among the symbols and images of Elio Vittorini’s novel Conversazione in Sicilia. The Italian author uses the act of talking about food, as he does with other subjects in the book, to “say without asserting”. He metaphorically transforms the act of eating (or not being able to eat) in a political and social critic to that historical moment in Italy when the country was governed by the fascists. When it lacks, food becomes even more alive in the mind of Italian poor people, like an obsession. Food also offers a trip to a lost time, the mythical time of childhood, as the flavors, the textures and the smell of food allow the character to recover the memory of his past and, doing so, regain the ability to feel. These symbols, on the one hand political and social, and on the other psychological and subjective, “overlap and repeat [throughout the book] gaining new nuances”, as writes Samy Ramez in the article Simbolo e immagine in Conversazione in Sicilia di Elio Vittorini. Keywords: Italian literature. The article examines the role of food in shaping the Italian national identity based on the example of Italian football language in the most-read Italian newspaper entitled “La Gazzetta dello Sport” (www.gazzetta. it). At first, the concept of identity is analyzed and then its particular shades in the case of Italy and the attitude of Italians toward food, its importance and widespread occurrence within the entire country will be discussed. In fact, the food is a factor which seems to be a bonding element for all Italians and a means of expressing the current Italian national identity. The author identifies it as the Italian culinary identity. The phenomenon can be observed in such presently existing Italian culinary terms as cioccolatino, brodino, biscotto, spezzatino, mangiarsi un gol and the like that are used in Italian football news.

Abstract:
The authors examine the social grounds for the formation of a positive image of Russia in the public opinion of Italy. The purpose of the study is to measure how the attitude of the Italians towards Russia has changed after 2022. The research is based on a secondary analysis of the representative results of sociological surveys of EU citizens and also on the authors’ analysis of political public discourse, where the source was the Italian media and the statements of political actors. The stability of the positive image of Russia in Italian public opinion is determined by the stable economic, political and cultural ties between Italy and Russia. The results of the discourse analysis of an extensive database of documents - election programs, materials from the leading social and political media in Italy and statements by Italian politicians - demonstrated a high level of interest of members of the Italian political elite in maintaining stable relations with Russia in various fields. They are representatives of the Italian populist parties among opinion makers and leaders, who influence the formation of a positive image of Russia. The attitude towards the Russian Federation in Italian public opinion has remained positive for a long period of time. The special military operation has significantly changed the perception of Russia, but the Italians still remain its sympathizers compared to citizens of other EU countries.

Abstract:
The article is an analysis of national stereotypes formed in Italy regarding the Chinese people. Italian anecdotes containing the lexemes “China”, “Chinese”, “Chinaman/Chinese woman” are selected as materials for the study. The author identifies the general characteristics of Italian anecdotes about the Chinese, studies the linguistic features of these texts and makes their thematic classification depending on the stereotype involved in them. The main themes of the anecdotes are peculiarities of gastronomic traditions and food habits of the Chinese; highly developed industry and a wide range of consumer goods; anthropological features of the Chinese people; copying of foreign brands by the Chinese; the number of Chinese in relation to the world population; personal qualities of the Chinese people; the influence of native language norms on the pronunciation of Italian words. The author concludes that the comic effect of Italian anecdotes is based mainly on the hyperbolisation of certain character traits of the Chinese, their patterns of behaviour and certain cultural and linguistic norms inherent in this nation, but not causing understanding among Italians. At the same time, it is noted that the humorous discourse does not contain aggression or insults, which makes it possible to conclude that Italians have a friendly perception of the Chinese people.

- The Author, in this paper, first of all reconstructs the essential historical phases of the theoretical and practical renewal process which preceded and accompanied the 180 law approval, that established the psychiatric hospitals closing. He then describes the Italian psychiatric reform characteristics, underlining how it produces the emerging of needs of new interpretation and intervention methods about psychic sufference: in this perspective psychotherapy has a crucial role and the italian law in psychotherapeutic training regulation is a further support. Particularly systemic psychotherapy proposes common basic principles with regard to the psychiatric reform and can represent an useful instrument for developping innovative concepts and practices. Finally the Authors put critically in evidence the problems still unresolved, not only concerning the need of a full application of the reform law, with the creation of territorial services and structures where they are still lacking or insufficient, but, over all, promoting the diffusion into the public services of a psychotherapeutic culture and practice.Key Words: Italian Psychiatric Reform, Law 180, Systemic Psychotherapy, Psychotherapeutic Culture, Public Services, Mental Health Workers Formation.Parole chiave: riforma psichiatrica italiana, legge 180, psicoterapia sistemica, cultura psicoterapeutica, servizi pubblici, formazione degli operatori.

Abstract:
The reasons behind Mussolini's decision to join Hitler in the invasion of the Soviet Union and the subsequent behavior of the Italian troops have sparked lively controversy in the historical literature. In this historiographical essay, the author initially poses the question: was the Duce driven to intervene by sound, or warped, Realpolitik, or by ideological conviction? The author then turns to the nature of the Italian occupation and examines the extent to which Fascist ideology permeated the minds and influenced the conduct of the Italian soldiers fighting along side the Wehrmacht. Did they believe in the Fascist definition of anti-Communist crusade, or were they fighting more out of duty, honor, and country? Next, the author tackles the thorny question of racism and anti-Semitism in the Italian ranks. In his treatment of these questions, the author discusses the important writings of recent historians on the subject. The author then addresses the nature of the relationship between the Italian and German soldiers. Did they, as «good Italians» forge closer ties with Soviet citizens, thanks to a common outlook and experience, than the socalled killer Wehrmacht warriors? Again, the writings of eminent historians who have recently written on these questions are analyzed. In conclusion, the author evaluates Mussolini's decision to send a large contingent of his military to fight on the Eastern Front.

Abstract:
Italian has for many years been considered somewhat of a specialist language when studied as a second language (L2) and this is perhaps due to historical and cultural factors. Its footprint worldwide compared to such languages as English, Spanish and French is therefore somewhat limited. Surprisingly, however, there is a considerable body of research in applied linguistics and second language acquisition (SLA) in which Italian features as the language being studied. This review sought to identify the extent to which the research provided specific insights into how Italian as a second or foreign language (L2 Italian) is learnt as opposed to the ways in which it has contributed to SLA theory-building more generally. In addition, it sought to assess how well Italian is holding up as a language being learnt in formal instructed contexts. The author suggests that insights into the learning of Italian and uptake by Italian students may be inter-related. The present review summarises and categorises nearly seventy empirical studies conducted in a variety of educational contexts and offers suggestions for future avenues of research.

In this paper, we will examine the connection between the Second World War and Italian-Canadian literature. Many early works from this literature had their roots in the devastation of war in Italy and the resulting mass migration of thousands of Italians to Canada in the 1950s and 1960s. After writing about the initial immigrant experience, most Italian-Canadian authors moved on to other topics and themes. Some wanted to become more Canadian and less Italian in orientation. In later years, some of these authors returned to the topic of the war and its long-term effects on their lives. We will begin our examination by looking at some examples of how war is treated in early works and then we will consider the phenomenon of how the war is revisited in later works.

Abstract:
Race and mestizaje in African literature of Italian expression The last century in France marked the advent of an African literature of French expression which involved the African continent and its diaspora. The movement, known as Négritude, makes its appearance and involves various protagonists. At the center of the themes developed is the reclamation of the black soul. Intellectuals such as Jean Paul Sartre and André Breton espoused the demands of African intellectuals, contributing to their success. This movement continues to fuel various reflections today in an era characterized by a strong identity claim in a Europe populated by multiple cultures and always exposed to the phenomenon of immigration. In the nineties, with the nascent literature in Italy, known as migrant literature of Italian expression, a strong claim to belonging was highlighted. The identity claim is a central theme of some authors in the fight against racism, discrimination and the anti-immigration policies of some right-wing parties. My work intends to explore four points in particular: the racial question, the use of the lemma “black”, the paradigm shift, compared to the Negritude movement, and belonging to the Italian identity, while at the same time affirming one's own black Italianness. Some texts will be examined, in particular:Traiettorie di sguardi - E se gli altri foste voi? by Geneviève Makaping, Prendi quello che vuoi ma lasciami la mia pelle nera by Cheikh Tidiane Gaye e Noi, italiani neri by Pap Khouma, to reflect on the transition from the use of the term “negro” to that of “black”, and on the importance of hybridization and multiple identities. Addressing transculturality also means taking into consideration this journey, both in time and space, and highlighting paradigm shifts regarding notions of race and cultural and biological miscegenation.

Abstract:
This paper discusses the current language situation among the Italian minority in Slovenian Primorje in Koper. During the fi eld research conducted by the authors’ team, narratives in Italian were recorded from informants. Using discursive and structural-typological methods of analysis, the authors reveal that the linguistic reality of modern Koper is perceived as constantly changing, and the Italian spontaneous speech of respondents is intertwined with borrowings from the surrounding South Slavic languages. The modern language situation is the result of historical changes in the Istria region during the twentieth century. In addition to insertions and quotations in Slovenian, items from the Croatian language are found, refl ecting the linguistic situation of the Yugoslav period and the border position of the Slovenian Primorje. Special attention is paid to analysis of the language competence of Italians in the Slovenian language, among representatives of both the older and younger generations of students. In the Slovene language of Italians, a number of features peculiar to Slavic dialects in Italy are found, which allows us to discuss the same linguistic factors. It is possible to reconstruct the language competence of older people only partially on the basis of indirect evidence. There is a discrepancy between the rights guaranteed under the law (the use of the Italian language) and the linguistic reality faced by informants, which may be the result of both a decline in the prestige of Italian and of the small number of the Italian diaspora, part of which is subject to language assimilation, including as a result of mixed marriages. The paper also discusses the role of the media and the linguistic landscape in the region.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the functioning of personal and deictic pronouns in comedies of Italian authors of the 16th century. It is believed that main changes in comparison with the italiano standard that have occurred at the present stage of language development concern the system of pronouns. However, when analyzing comedies of natives of the central, northern and southern regions, phenomena characteristic of the current stage of the development of the Italian language and considered innovative were found: the use of pronouns lui, lei and loro in the syntactic functions of the subject; double dative; simplification of the threepart system of demonstrative pronouns; the spread of truncated forms sto and sta and some others. The revealed contexts give reason to think that the Italian language at present time does not develop unprecedented phenomena, but rather undergoes a process of restandardization, in which oral and written speech converge and features that were previously characteristic exclusively of informal communication are normalized. The dialect has a substrate effect on the Italian language not only in synchrony, but also in diachrony.

It is necessary to study the article comprehensively to understand its functioning better. For example, it is important to considerate the historical aspect: its formation, as well as the principles and contexts of its using during early stages of development. That's why the subject of the study is the functioning of the definite, indefinite and partitive article in the texts of comedies written by Italian authors of the 16th century. Particular attention is paid to the use of the partitive article in prepositional constructions because this structure, according to F. Sabatini, is considered an innovative trend in the modern Italian language of informal communication. The scientific novelty is in the material chosen for this research. Previously, Italian comedies were not used as a source of value for obtaining new knowledge about the language, in particular, the aspect concerning the functioning of the article. It is important that their texts imitate informal everyday communication, and therefore serve as valuable material for analyzing the language of the 16th century. The examples given in this research give reason to believe that the use of the partitive article with prepositions is not an innovation of italiano neostandard. Thus, at the present moment, the Italian language does not develop innovative structures, but rather undergoes a process of restandartization.

Giulio Bertoni and neolinguistics in the Enciclopedia Italiana This essay studies Giulio Bertoni’s collaboration on the first edition of the Enciclopedia Italiana (1929-1937). As early as 1925, Giovanni Gentile called Bertoni to direct the Linguistics section, for which the scholar prepared the lemmary and drew up an initial list of collaborators. Through the analysis of Bertoni’s most significant articles, this essay highlights the neolinguistic perspective characterising his management of the section. His encyclopaedic articles become an opportunity to reflect above all upon the debts of neolinguistics towards the 19th-century linguistic debate, and in particular towards authors such as Humboldt, Schuchardt and Gilliéron. At the same time, this essay examines the ties of neolinguistics with Italian philosophical idealism and attempts to draw a balance on the weight that the ideas of Croce and then of Gentile had on Bertoni’s linguistic theory.

Abstract:
Since its description the taxonomic status of the Italian Sparrow Passer italiae (Vieillot 1817) has changed repeatedly according to the speciation concepts applied. Due to external similarities with hybrid sparrow individuals the hypothesis that italiae is a stabilised hybrid form between Passer domesticus (L. 1758) and P. hispaniolensis (Temm. 1820) has deeply influenced the discussion although some authors do not even accept hybrid forms as taxa. Based upon a comprehensive review of the literature it is shown that the postulation of a hybrid origin of italiae is inadmissible, being based on a methodologically circular argument. There is no convincing proof of stabilised hybridisation. Therefore Passer italiae is a real taxon and not a hybrid form. Applying the Biospecies Concept according to current knowledge of distributional facts and the lack of reproductive isolation between italiae and hispaniolensis I argue that these two forms are conspecific. Passer domesticus is not conspecific with them. According to the rules of zoological nomenclature the taxa have to be designated as Passer italiae italiae (Vieillot 1817) and Passer italiae hispaniolensis (Temminck 1820).

It is possible to say that Giro d’Italia, the road cycling race through Italy, has had a huge popularity mainly, but not exclusively, among the Italians since it was held for the first time in 1909. Some authors even mention, Giro d’Italia did for the formation of the common Italian identity more than the political representatives of the state, which was born in 1861. The fact that the 100th edition of the race took place in 2017 is the proof of its popularity. In the context of this anniversary, its organizers wanted to prepare the wholly Italian race where it would be clearly observed the legacy of the Italian history and of the local cycling, including the presentation of the most famous cyclists from Italy in the history. The aim of this article is to analyse the route of Giro d’Italia 2017 and its presentation as a space that could help to Italians to recognize their Italian identity, even if the local cyclists were not as successful during the 100th edition of the race as the organizers would have wished. Also I would like to mention that in the second decade of the 21st century this cycling race is definitely a popular sporting event all around the world. Not only it has a potential to present itself to the foreign public, but also to promote whole Italy in the most positive way. I think, it is certainly possible to use Giro d’Italia as a tool of the Italian sports diplomacy.

These books offer rich material for studying the ways in which important figures in Montenegrin history and culture, such as Njegoš, were presented to an Italian readership, as well as for determining the function that these representations had. Abstract:
The article examines the reception of M. Gorky in Italy in the late 19th – early 20th centuries, and the process of his becoming mythologized. Right from the beginning, Italians’ idea of Gorky gets woven into the European myth about Russia, with him epitomizing the Russian soul and blending with the stereotypical Russian landscape. Early Italian reception of Gorky’s autobiography never distinguishes between his life story and creative work: both critics and common readers draw their idea of the Russian author from biographical sketches as well as his own writings, seen as a proof compelling enough to influence critical reviews and biographies devoted to Gorky. On Gorky’s arrival in Italy, his image becomes more nuanced, more details about his life and work come to light, and the press starts printing personal accounts of meetings with him. But the key elements of the Gorky myth survive and keep shaping Italian perceptions of him. It wasn’t until much later that Italians stopped interpreting Gorky through the myth about Russia and the Russian soul.

Abstract:
The article examines the role of debates on the definition of a national oral language in Italy, where the divergence between the written, literary language and oral dialects has historically been very significant. The decisive contribution to the definition of the oral language, by choosing the Florentine language as the model of the oral Italian language was made by Alessandro Manzoni along with Graziadio Isaiah Ascoli, who suggested that the adoption of the Florentine language would lead to a formal cult of “popular purity” instead of the ideal of “classical purity”, and that the linguistic would be the result of a deeper action with the aim of spreading culture and bridging the gap, separating a small circle of intellectuals from the rest of the population. In conclusion, the author considers that the convergence of written and spoken Italian has led to the fact that, today, the proficiency in written language among Italians is lower than the average in European countries, and Italians still perceive the spoken language as an unnatural language.

Abstract:
This article is the Polish version of the introduction to the Italian translation of the treatise by Father Józef Maria Bocheński OP (monastic name: Innocent) entitled: On patriotism. The author of the treatise, an outstanding Polish logician, lecturer at many universities in Europe and around the world, published his text originally intended for soldiers of the Polish II Corps fighting in Italy during the Second World War. The context of this edition, as well as the contemporary edition of the text in Italian (in the book: Alla guardia dello spirito e della fede. Il patriottismo polacco sulsuolo italiano neitestiripropostin el centenario della Battaglia di Varsavia (1920) e nel 25° anniversario della morte di padre Józef Maria (Di Innocenzo), a cura di M. Lenart, Opole University Press, Opole 2020) prompted the author of the article to show the value of patriotism in the context of Italian culture, in which this topic, and even the concept itself, is currently being eliminated from the public sphere. Thus, conducting discussions on topics related to patriotism encounters many difficulties despite the widespread belief in close cultural relations between Poland and Italy.

Abstract:
Based on the case of Alojz Gradnik (1882–1967), this article deals with previously unresearched Slovene-Friulian-Italian literary connections that occurred during the last years of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the first years after WWI along the border of today’s Slovenia (Goriška Brda) and Italy (the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia: the Provinces of Gorizia, Udine and Trieste). The article highlights the parallels in motifs, themes, ideas and form, as well as the connections between Alojz Gradnik and select Friulian and Italian authors from this region. These links are the consequence of living in a joint cultural space and Gradnik’s Friulian family ties, especially with his cousin Maria Samer. The research uncovers certain differences in motifs, themes and ideas stemming from different national identities. Gradnik’s poetry is closest to Friulian lyrical poetry in their descriptions and experiences of a rural setting, predominantly the deep bond felt between the farming people and native land coupled with their terrible social strife. Gradnik and his contemporary Friulian authors also coincide in works with a nationalist theme – on the threshold of WWI both Slovene and Friulian authors infused their work with their personal vision for the future of their own community. They shared a negative literary depiction of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the wish to secure a better economic future, to protect and solidify their cultural heritage. Gradnik’s poetry and that of the contemporary Italian (irredentist) authors share a similar literary technique that depicted the national identities of today’s border between Italy and Slovenia; they were ideologically opposed however: while the Italians depicted the Italian view of the region, Gradnik highlights the presence of a Slavic element within the region.

Abstract:
The author asks whether and to what extent neuroscientific evidentiary techniques can be considered admissible in Italian criminal procedure to assess the mental state of the accused or to verify the truthfulness of a statement, analyzing the national jurisprudence on the subject. First, the author asks whether neuroscientific techniques can be used to determine whether the defendant was totally or partially insane at the time of the crime charged and to determine whether the defendant is a socially dangerous person. The answer is yes, although great caution must be exercised. The main risk is to theorize the existence of a real biological basis for antisocial behavior, which could even justify the adoption of restrictive measures praeter delictum against the biologically vulnerable person. Secondly, the author asks whether the techniques called A-IAT (Autobiographical Implicit Association Test) and TARA (Temporal Antagonistic Response Aletiometer), used in Italy in some criminal proceedings to verify the truthfulness of a statement, are compatible with the Italian law of evidence, which prohibits the use, even with the consent of the person concerned, of methods and techniques that are likely to impair his freedom of self-determination and his ability to recall and evaluate facts. The answer is certainly no if it is believed that these techniques can function as "memory detection" techniques, i.e. they are capable of detecting in the mind of the person concerned even memories that he or she has erased. More controversial is whether a-IAT and TARA are to be considered admissible if they are believed to be simple “lie-detection” techniques, aimed at revealing whether or not the declarant is truthful in reporting his or her memories.

Abstract:
The article is an attempt to supplement the knowledge of Italians' ideas about Ottomans during the 15th and 16th centuries, using the preserved antique textiles of both cultures, as well as fabrics' mentions in written and visual sources. Modern technological research methods of ancient textiles make it possible to clarify their attributive data, which in turn contributes to more definite conclusions about artistic exchanges in the field of decoration of expensive textiles. Thus, for example, it turned out that two fabrics from the collection of the Khanenko Museum, which were considered Italian, are the work of Ottoman masters. If the structure of the Italian and Ottoman fabrics of the period under the study are quite different, visually – they are often almost identical. Despite the fact that the trade in Ottoman fabrics was not widespread in Italy during the 15th and 16th centuries, Italian painters and weavers still actively imitated the textile products of the Middle East. Written sources, especially epistolary and inventory, are also filled with references to Ottoman fabrics and "turkish-style" textiles. Since there were few authentic silks from West Asia in the secular space of Italian cities at the time, it is likely that citizens could even associate Ottoman culture with certain types of local textiles that looked like "Turkish". The number and peculiarities of their description in written sources suggest the Italians' enormous interest in Ottoman culture, "cautious concern" for the growing Ottoman Empire, and recognition of its dominance over many Asian peoples. All this took place in spite of the permanent wars between the Venetian Republic and the Ottomans. The entry into Italian fashion of fabrics "in the Turkish style" was lightning fast. However, local authors emphasized the antiquity of this fashion tradition, to some extent rooting the idea of kinship between the two cultures.

Abstract:
In April 2023, the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Italy launched the Italia. Open to Meraviglia (Italy. Open to Wonder) campaign with the intention of promoting the beauty of Italy abroad. The Ministry introduced Botticelli?s Venus as a virtual and modern influencer at Lake Como, in front of the Colosseum, and on St. Mark?s Square in Venice. The first advertisements sparked controversy in Italian society, and Eco characterized such phenomena as divisions between apocalyptic thinkers and integrated intellectuals as early as 1964. The aim of this work is to uncover the reasons for such polarization through the content analysis of more than 3000 public comments on the Ministry?s Instagram profile?s most popular posts/images. The study establishes connections between audience reactions and the posts, as well as between the audience and the Ministry (as the senders of this advertising campaign). The analysis also includes a study of the news discourse of the campaign author?s responses in Corriere della Sera, the most circulated daily newspaper in Italy. The harshest criticisms tend to lean towards Eco?s apocalyptic view of popular culture and Hall?s (2017) oppositional reading. On the other side, the authors responded that there was no such thing as bad publicity and pointed to Italian identity as a global phenomenon.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to identifying the causes of anti-religious sentiments in Italy at the turn of the 18–19th centuries. The authors point to the reasons for the apologetic writings of Italian theologians. Their views had a very beneficial effect on the mental and in particular on the religious movement in Italy. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the situation in Italy in the 18–19th centuries. Based on this analysis, the authors conclude that because of the constant confrontation with the Italian government for power and their interests, apologists for Christianity, who belonged to the clergy of the Catholic Church, caused hostility towards the Catholic Church among ordinary Italians. In the course of the study, the idea of a significant impact of this situation on the spread of anti-Christian ideas in Italy at the turn of the 18–19th centuries was substantiated. And the national liberation movement for the unification of Italy, which was gaining momentum at that time, opened up a free field for the dissemination of various anti-church and atheistic teachings.

Abstract:
Problems of literary translation from Italian into Arabic in an applied didactic model This article analyzes the semantic-lexical problems in t literary translation by 7 groups of Egyptian and Arabic-speaking students in the fourth year in Italian Language and Literature course, a. a. 2019/2020, at Ain Shams University, in Cairo. The analysis regarded the translation, whole or in part, of: Favole al telefono e Le avventure di Cipollino (G. Rodari), Racconti sardi (G. Deledda), Fiabe Italiane (I. Calvino), I racconti (I. Svevo), Novelle per un anno (L. Pirandello), Il grande Belzoni, Romanzo a fumetti (W. Venturi). The article focuses on the analysis of the translation difficulties regarding idiomatic expressions, polysemy, puns, anthroponym and onomatopoeia. Most bilingual Italian-Arabic dictionaries do not collect idiomatic expressions. When translating polysemic words/expressions, the student must look for clues in the context to choose the appropriate meaning. Consulting the dictionary is not enough. Choosing an inappropriate translation of a polysemic term could be due to misunderstanding between the native language and Italian SL. With puns, students were able to formulate assumptions assimilated by the childish public and adapted to the arrival culture. Sometimes it was possible to reproduce the puns identically, sometimes they were replaced with another Arabic pun. These are “supertranslations”; the translator overlaps the author by adapting the style and values of the original text to the arrival language. With invented words, it was necessary to create a neologism, especially when it came from a lemma of cultural background that did not have a correspondent in the arrival language. However, there was no shortage of examples where it was mandatory to renounce the pun in translation. In Le avventure di Cipollino, the students had to keep the connotations of the names. The strategies adopted in the translation of anthroponym aimed to facilitate the reading of the translated text in the target culture. In Il grande Belzoni, the students faced the problem of the translation of onomatopoeia. There were two strategies: opting for the equivalent derived onomatopoeia or reusing the onomatopoeia of English origin. This course, almost a translation lab, students launched themselves into territories never explored and experimented with new strategies that affect young and receptive readers, and they developed a certain inclination for etymology and the search for lexical and structural similarities and differences between Italian SL and Arabic L1.

Abstract:
In the last decade, an increasing number of analyses of accounting history literature have been undertaken to classify historical research paths and to “map” the variety of approaches and issues of the discipline in different geographical settings so as to make international comparisons. The paper develops these topics in the Italian context by studying the development of accounting history research (AHR) in the last 15 years. Contributions by Italian authors have been published in international and national specialist journals as well as in more general accounting journals. Other papers have been presented and published in the proceedings of the biannual SISR (Società Italiana di Storia della Ragioneria) Congress and in the Congress celebrating the 500th anniversary of the publication of Pacioli's Summa held in Venice in 1994. The findings chart publication trends during the period 1990–2004 from a quantitative and qualitative perspective, based on different dimensions, the dynamic of change in Italian AHR, and its possible limitations. The paper is informed by an international perspective and causal interpretations are attempted.

Abstract:
While Italian colonialism in Africa is an aspect of Italy’s history that has started to receive academic attention in the last three decades, it remains outside the collective memory of many Italians. In opposition to this lack of mainstream cultural awareness, a proliferation of literary works has been produced, predominantly by female writers with origins in Italy’s former colonies in East Africa, filling in the historical omissions and, importantly, providing a transnational voice to gendered experiences of colonial trauma. Many of these authors foreground the female corporeal experience of colonialism and its legacy. My PhD thesis explores the representation of gendered colonial trauma and its intergenerational transmission through the female body. I examine a range of literary texts by women writers with origins in Somalia and Ethiopia, dating from 2007 to the present. Their work ranges across contexts and languages (Italian and English), yet each narrates colonial history in a highly embodied way, providing an alternative discourse to the nostalgic, mythologising historiography offered by mainstream Italian literature from the post-war period to the present.
