Abstract:
Forestmodellers have long faced the problem of selecting an appropriate mathematical model to describe tree ontogenetic or size-shape empirical relationships for tree species. A common practice is to develop many models (or a model pool) that include different functional forms, and then to select the most appropriate one for a given data set. However, this process may impose subjective restrictions on the functional form. In this process, little attention is paid to the features (e.g. asymptote and inflection point rather than asymptote and nonasymptote) of different functional forms, and to the intrinsic curve of a given data set. In order to find a better way of comparing and selecting the growth models, this paper describes and analyses the characteristics of the Schnute model. This model has both flexibility and versatility that have not been used in forestry. In this study, the Schnute model was applied to different data sets of selected forest species to determine their functional forms. The results indicate that the model shows some desirable properties for the examined data sets, and allows for discerning the different intrinsic curve shapes such as sigmoid, concave and other curve shapes. Since no suitable functional form for a given data set is usually known prior to the comparison of candidate models, it is recommended that the Schnute model be used as the first step to determine an appropriate functional form of the data set under investigation in order to avoid using a functional form a priori.

Abstract:
Stand growth and yield models include whole-stand models, individual-tree models and diameter-distribution models. In this study, the three models were linked by forecast combination and parameter recovery methods one after another. Individual-tree models combine with whole-stand models through forecast combination. Forecast combination method combines information from different models, disperses errors generated from different models, and then improves forecast accuracy. And then the forecast combination model was linked to diameter-distribution models via parameter recovery methods. During the moment estimation, two methods were used, arithmetic mean diameter and quadratic mean diameter method (A-Q method), and arithmetic mean diameter and diameter variance method (A-V method). Results showed that the forecast combination for predicting stand variables outperformed over the stand-level and tree-level models respectively; A-V method was superior to A-Q method on estimating Weibull parameters; these three different models could be linked very well via forecast combination and parameter recovery.

Abstract:
This study benchmarks South African Excellence Model (SAEM) against selected similar models in developed economies. The primary research question is: Why are South African small and medium enterprises (SMEs) not performing well in comparison to similar businesses in developed economies? The objectives of the study are to compare SAEM against worldclass best practice business excellence models, measure and rate SMEs management performance criteria. Random sampling was used to select SMEs in the construction industry. The findings revealed SAEM as equally a good model as worldclass best practice models. Empirical results revealed low management performance scores in comparison with those of worldclass best practice. Recommendations included aggressive marketing of SAEM and introducing continuous performance management improvement strategies on poorly rated criteria. Keywords: benchmarking, business excellence models, developed economies, management performance, small and medium enterprises. JEL Classification: L26, O1, L25

This research was This research aims to produce, develop, and describe the feasibility of teaching material product in the form of discovery learning-based procedure text learning module in SMP class VII. This research used the Research and Development (R&D) method by Borg and Gall. The product research results in the form of modules which consists of four modules containing learning materials, learning activities, practice questions, summaries, and formative tests. Each module has learning activities by implementing the steps in the discovery learning model, namely providing stimulation, identifying problems, collecting data, processing data, verifying data, and drawing conclusions. The module feasibility test was carried out by material expert and educator of Indonesian subject. The results of the validation test by material expert obtained an average percentage of 81.25% in very feasible category. The results of validation by Indonesian language educator obtained an average percentage of 82.5% in very feasible category.

Abstract:
The research presented in this paper is aimed at defining a model that enables the management of the relationship between private vehicles and public transport applying the available instruments of city transport policy such as parking policy and public transport policy measures. Statistical data used for modelling is sourced from the database in a wide range of EU cities. The target model was developed in the form of stepwise regression analysis. Very favourable statistical results were obtained, and the subsequent tests on the city of Novi Sad (250000 inhabitants) led to the conclusion that the obtained results were suitable for implementation in practice. The results of the implemented procedure are of great importance for the enhancement of the existing transport policies in cities, as they enable the development of strategies for finding combinations of instruments that would bring the transport system and urban environment into a desired-viable rather than consequential condition.

Abstract:
The design and development of cities is the most complicated phenomenon in the domain of shaping space. It is the result of planned human activities related to land parcellation, building infrastructure, establishing safety rules, creating a friendly scale and aesthetics of public spaces. It is also the result of spontaneous processes that take place without strict control. It is influenced by economy, demography, environmental factors, as well as wars, conflicts, and competition between entities. In architecture, it is possible to build knowledge and competences by performing tests on a 1:1 scale. Although expensive and difficult, it sometimes brings the desired results and opens the perspective to new design techniques. In urban planning, the subject of creative activities is too complex to test final solutions. The time from design to implementation is too long to use your own experience even indirectly. The only way to test urban ideas in the conceptual phase is to create models. Both geometric and social features could be represented. The most perfect contemporary models attempt to comprise many processes of city functioning, including spontaneous activities conditioned by external and internal factors.

Abstract:
Genetic counselling is a complex process that helps people to understand and adopt medical, psychological and genetic aspects of the disease and enable them to make an appropriate decision. In this framework, we revisited all the existing models for decision-making and suggested their use in the process of genetic counselling, which may lead to more equitable and more favourable outcomes. Also, Donabedian's (Structure-Process-Outcome) model for the development of key performance indicators was applied to assess the quality in the process of genetic counselling. Quality indicators at SPO model in the process of genetic counselling were proposed. The social, economic and humanistic outcomes have also been identified. All defined quality indicators together represent a framework for monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement of the process of genetic counselling. Although the new medical services of genetic counselling tend to be developed as a powerful multidisciplinary field, the implementation of quality management model will certainly help the development of collaborative practice.
