Abstract:
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementiaand mainly afflict people over 65 years of age. AD is characterized by a progressive memory loss that leads to a profound emotional disturbance in later stages. As no safe and effective drug is yet available for the treatment of AD,secondary metabolites from plants may be instrumental in meeting this challenge. From this work, 29 compounds were isolated and fully characterized and six of them:β-isolutéon (11), dehydroferreirin (12),lupiwighteon hydrate (13),Aviprin (24), blumenol A (26)andp-menthane-3,6-diol(27) have never been previously reported from the genus Ficus. This study also reports the complete 1H NMR assignment of lupiwighteon hydrate (13) for the first time. All the isolated compounds were purified through usual chromatographic methods and their structures established by the means of NMR data. Some isolated compounds as well as methanolic crude extracts were evaluated for their inhibitory potential against both acetyl- and butyrylcholinesterase enzymes by Ellman method. None of the crude methanolic extract showed response against tested enzymes. However, the ability of some isoflavonoids and coumarin from Ficus pumila Linn and Ficus thonningii Blume to inhibit cholinesterase has been evaluated.Alpinumisoflavon (5), lupiwighteonhydrate (13), two isoflavones and aviprin(24), a furanocoumarin showed good inhibitory activities against butyrylcholinesterase but not against acetylcholinesterase using eserin/galantamine as positive controle. These results are in agreement with the ethnobotanical uses of these plants and indicated that this activity could contribute significantly to the pharmacological properties of these species.

Abstract:
Mature ‘Hamlin’ sweet oranges (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) were irradiated using light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and ultraviolet (UV) light for six days after harvest. Based on evaluation of the basic ripening parameters of fruits, the contents of soluble sugars, organic acids, and carotenoids were analyzed (in pulps) on the sixth day by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results showed that LED and UV irradiation not only accelerated orange ripening but also caused significant changes in the soluble sugar, organic acid, and carotenoid content. Compared with fruit subjected to dark shade (DS) treatment, the total soluble sugar, fructose, and glucose contents increased significantly in UV-treated (UVA, UVB, and UVC) fruits, while the sucrose content increased remarkably in white light, UVB, and UVC-treated fruits (p < 0.05). UV treatment was associated with inducing the largest effect on the total soluble sugar content. Except for UVB, other types of light notably induced an accumulation of the total organic acid content, none but blue light and red light markedly induced citric acid accumulation (p < 0.05). Interestingly, only the red light and dark shade treatments had markedly positive effects in terms of inducing carotenoid accumulation, including the total carotenoid, isolutein, zeaxanthin, lutein, neoxanthin, all-trans-violaxanthin, phytofluene, cis-ζ-carotene, and β-carotene concentrations. Other light treatments had significantly negative effects on carotenoid accumulation (p < 0.05). Therefore, soluble sugar, organic acid, and carotenoid accumulation in sweet oranges vary depending on the levels of UV and LED irradiation. Appropriate light irradiation is a potentially effective way to maintain or improve postharvest fruit quality.

Abstract:
Testing is very essential in Data warehouse systems for decision making because the accuracy, validation and correctness of data depends on it. By looking to the characteristics and complexity of iData iwarehouse, iin ithis ipaper, iwe ihave itried ito ishow the scope of automated testing in assuring ibest data iwarehouse isolutions. Firstly, we developed a data set generator for creating synthetic but near to real data; then in isynthesized idata, with ithe help of hand icoded Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) routine, anomalies are classified. For the quality assurance of data for a Data warehouse and to give the idea of how important the iExtraction, iTransformation iand iLoading iis, some very important test cases were identified. After that, to ensure the quality of data, the procedures of automated testing iwere iembedded iin ihand icoded iETL iroutine. Statistical analysis was done and it revealed a big enhancement in the quality of data with the procedures of automated testing. It enhances the fact that automated testing gives promising results in the data warehouse quality. For effective and easy maintenance of distributed data,a novel architecture was proposed. Although the desired result of this research is achieved successfully and the objectives are promising, but still there's a need to validate the results with the real life environment, as this research was done in simulated environment, which may not always give the desired results in real life environment. Hence, the overall potential of the proposed architecture can be seen until it is deployed to manage the real data which is distributed globally.
