Abstract:
Islamic economics as a doctrine recognized in Islam and a science Islamization project in the 21st century has shown astonishing progress.Throughout the history, there have been many Islamic-based financial institutions. On this stand, various higher education institutions have competed to launch such majors as Islamic economics and Islamic finance. However, there have been many criticizing, especially the geneology of the term "Islamic economics."This study aims to answer the questions: 1) when does the term "Islamic economics" appear according to Timur Kuran, the pioneer of Alternative-Critical School? 2), when does the term "Islamic economics" appear according to the Mainstream School in Islamic economics thought? This research is qualitative-descriptive while the unit of analysis is thematic one. In addition, the analysis technique used is taxonomy and critical discourse analysis. The source of data in this study is primary and secondary ones. The result of the research shows: 1) According to Alternative-Critical School, the genealogy of the term "Islamic economics" emerged in the 1940s at the end of colonial India. The term is first coined by Abu al-A'la Maududi. Other seminal contribution to Islamic economics literature is propagated by Sayyid Qutb (Egypt), and Mohammed Baqir Sadr (Iraq). The term "Islamic economics" is used by fundamentalist Islamic groups. 2) According to the Mainstream School, Maududi never coined the term "Islamic economics". The term "Islamic economics" no doubt emerged in the 20th century, but the idea has come into being since the early days of Islam and especially in the writings of Abu Yusuf, al-Mawardi, Ibn Hazm, and other Muslim intellectuals.Geneology

Abstract:
Thailand is one of the most famous kingdoms in Southeast Asia that still exists today. The Kingdom of Thailand comes from the original name “Muang Thai” (formerly called Siam). Islam grew in Thailand is the fruit of a long process. Since the 9th century, Islam has entered Thai society with limited conditions. Islamic teachings have grown and existed in Thailand through various historical events from the classical period (9th century) to modern times (early 21st century). This study aims to explore the history of the development of Islam and the conflicts that occurred in Thailand. The research method used in this article is a critical historical method with a literature study approach. The description of the conflict and its accommodation process that occurred in Thailand is expected to be used as an additional academic reference and an example for relevant stakeholders to stimulate inter-religious harmony in Indonesia, given the issues of tolerance and radicalism that had surfaced.

Verousi, Christina, and Chris Allen. "Problematising the Official Athens Mosque: Between Mere Place of Worship and 21st Century ‘Trojan Horse’." Religions 12, no. 7 (June 29, 2021): 485. http://dx.doi.org/10.3390/rel12070485.

Full text
Abstract:
This article investigates the ‘problematisation’ of the recently inaugurated mosque in the city of Athens, the capital’s first ‘official’ mosque since the country was liberated from the Ottoman Empire almost two centuries ago. Building on and developing the existing scholarly literature on the problematisation of mosques in the contemporary European setting, this article generates new knowledge by focusing on the Greco-specific context of that same problematisation: an amalgam of history, geography, religion and culture, that asymmetrically shape and inform how and why the new Athens mosque is—and indeed continues to be—a site of conflict and opposition. Presenting new empirical data, this article uses an innovative and original approach to bring together two separate pieces of fieldwork undertaken first-hand by the authors in 2001/2 and 2019/20. Analysing the two sets of data, a threefold thematic structure is employed that focuses on Greece’s history, Christian Orthodoxy and global terrorism. This article first explores the existing scholarly canon relating to the contemporary problematisation of mosques through a focused overview of Greece’s history, religion and culture appropriate to mosques and in part, Muslims and Islam. From there it sets out the findings from the two periods of fieldwork to illustrate and evidence discourses of opposition towards the mosque and how these serve to function both symbolically and tangibly. Using the thematic analysis, theories relating to the ideological processes of Islamophobia are deployed to elucidate a better understanding of the Athens mosque. In doing so, this article makes a timely contribution.

Abstract:
There can be no peace without democratization and intercultural dialogue, which due to their importance lead to the ultimate result of what is called the union of civilizations among nations. In this regard, it is interesting to consider the issues of democratization and intercultural dialogue in Turkey in 21st century. In order to reach a high level of democratic development, any state needs a strong society and political will. At the beginning of the 20th century, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (1881-1938), the founder of the Turkish Republic, took the course of state development of the country to the West and declared the path of Europeanization as the main principle of unchanging domestic and foreign policy. The current events in Turkey in the first decade of 21st century have shown that the country is developing as a strong state. So, it is interesting to observe how the Republican Turkey will continue to pursue democratic and European values and to support the state rule of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. For Turkey and its leader, Islam is a tool that helps to stabilize the political system and transform Turkey into a traditional, conservative society with fewer opportunities to generate protests related to social, ethnic and other civil rights. The coming decades will show whether the country with a Muslim culture will be able to adapt to a democratic Western civilization and what the consequences will be.

Griffel, Frank. "What Do We Mean By “Salafī”? Connecting Muḥammad ʿAbduh with Egypt’s Nūr Party in Islam’s Contemporary Intellectual History." Die Welt des Islams 55, no. 2 (September 1, 2015): 186–220. http://dx.doi.org/10.1163/15700607-00552p02.

Full text
Abstract:
In contemporary academic literature, the word “Salafī” has a variety of meanings. Most importantly, Western academic literature of the 20th and 21st centuries applies the word to (1) an Islamic reform movement founded by Jamāl al-Dīn al-Afghānī (d. 1897) and Muḥammad ʿAbduh (1849–1905) in the last decades of the 19th century and (2) to contemporary Sunni reform movements that criticize manifestations of Sunni Islam which are based on Sufism, Ashʿarism, and traditional madhhab-affiliations to the Shāfiʿī, Ḥanafī, and Mālikī schools. In a 2010-article Henri Lauzière argued that the use of the word “Salafī” to describe these two movements is an equivocation based on a mistake. While the movement of contemporary Salafīs may be rightfully called by that name, al-Afghānī and ʿAbduh never used the term. Only Western scholars of the 1920s and 30s, most importantly Louis Massignon (1883–1962), called this latter movement “salafī”. This paper reevaluates the evidence presented by Lauzière and argues that Massignon did not make a mistake. The paper describes analytically both reform movements and draws the conclusion that there is a historic continuity that justifies calling them both “salafī”. The paper draws an analogy from the use of the word “socialist” in European political history, which first applied to a wider movement of the late 19th century before its use was contested and narrowed down in the course of the 20th.

Abstract:
Aim. The paper analyses the Islamic revival in Russia in the late 20th century and early 21st. This was reflected in the registration of religious communities, the publication of periodicals on Muslim literature, and, in my opinion, most importantly - the construction of mosques and madrassas. It highlights the roles of mosques and madrassas built in the North Caucasus, which later became the theological centers for the spread of Islam and educated youngsters according to their propaganda. Methods. The study mainly uses an analysis method based on the study of historicism, documents and empirical material. The basis of the source are books, scientific articles, research works conducted by Russian and foreign experts. Results. The post-Soviet wars (1994-1996 and 1999-2000) in Chechnya contributed to the politicisation and realisation of Islam in this region. In 1996-1999 there were 26 Sharia courts, numerous Islamic parties, charitable foundations and organisations in the republic and, most importantly, structures of Wahhabi organisations (Akaev, n.d.). The process of politicisation gradually turned into organisational formations in Russia in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Conclusion. The constructive transformation by reinforcing the modernist potentials of Islam has contributed to the real renewal of Russian Muslim societies, which led to the radicalisation of the whole region. The described events have shown that for the last 20 years, the revival of religious Islam was a revival of political organisations and activities, where religion is connected to politics and criminal activities. A small North Caucasian republic immediately turned up at the center of Russia's recent history. Key Words: Islam, politics, revival, radicalization, Russia, North Caucasus

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to examine the growth and development of Islamic Boarding Schools in Bengkulu. This study is important considering its very rapid development and high public response, especially at the beginning of the 21st century. Using library research methods, namely by researching available literature, related to relevant themes. Both off-line and on-line sources are widely available. The results of the study reveal that first, Islamic education in Bengkulu started from the school model pioneered by the Islamic modernist movement Muhammadiyah and other Islamic organizations from pre-independence until the end of the 20th century. Second, pesantren is a relatively new phenomenon, compared to the history of the birth and development of Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia. Third, the first Islamic boarding school that was established in Bengkulu was precisely at the initiative of President Soeharto who wanted Bengkulu to have an institution such as a pesantren, so that the Pancasila pesantren was born in 1973. Third, starting in the 2000s, pesantren emerged in the Bengkulu City area and its surroundings with a modernist style.

Abstract:
The relationship between religion and poetry is a complex and dynamic subject that requires consideration of many factors, including theological, cultural, historical, and personal contexts. The relationship between these two spheres throughout history was motivated differently, which is why various questions were raised on the theoretical level, such as: is literature a part of theological discourse and/or is theology a part of literary discourse? It is possible that literature and theology intertwine and influence each other in different ways, but accepting their definitive affiliation with each other remains a matter of theoretical debate. In the Eurocentric circle, the most pronounced relationship between theology and literature continues intensively in medieval literature, when the Bible becomes the paradigm according to which all other forms of human and cultural activity are determined, while in the Balkans (from the end of the 15th to the end of the 19th century) the Qur'an will also be literature of the oriental-Islamic circle. Based on several shorter theses that we presented from the Islamic theological aspect, we concluded that Islam allows, even praises, poetry, but does not give it complete autonomy. These restrictions are depicted in the form of the necessary respect and adherence to the norms of Islamic belief and religious laws, which the poet must not renounce, nor express himself poetically in terms of content, while the form of the poem itself is left to the poet's full freedom of choice. The beginning of the 21st century was marked by several literary-critical works that point to the problem of naming and classifying Islamic religious poetry in our speaking area, which indicates the necessity of forming the principles of Islamic theological aesthetics and literary theory.

Abstract:
Radical Islam as a political phenomenon has undergone significant changes during the first decades of the 21st century. This process was accompanied, firstly, by the strengthening unification trends in the ideological field, and secondly, by the development of a specific “Jihadi Cool” subculture that combined the features of the consumer society (modern music, stylish clothes, Islamic merch, youth magazines, etc.) and jihadist agenda. These factors, in combination, form a new version of religious radicalism - post-industrial Islamism, which poses a significant threat to international security. Questions regarding the degree and the nature of post-industrial Islamism in the Russian Federation have not yet been scrutinized in academic literature. The article is the first attempt to understand this problem, which exists in a complex socio-economic and ethno-confessional environment of Russia. The theoretical framework of the study was the works of leading domestic Islamic scholars dealing with the problems of Islamic radicalism. In the indicated paradigm, the authors made an attempt to give their own definition of radical Islam, to identify the characteristic features of the phenomenon, to separate religious extremism from fundamentalism. Work with the empirical base was carried out through the methods of descriptive statistics, as well as the use of qualitative and quantitative content analysis. It was made on the basis of Google Trends data, cross-checked through the Wordstat.yandex system. In conclusion, the team of authors came to conclusions regarding the spread of post-industrial Islamism in Russia. There is an increase in the activity of radicals in the Internet space, their work to expand the base of support for the movement, based on knowledge of the algorithms of social networks. Also, elements of the ‘jihadi cool’ have been identified too. It is important to note that all the trends listed above originated outside the Russian Federation and were borrowed by the radicals. In general, this only confirms the idea of the peripheral nature of Russian Islamic radicalism, which throughout its history has been an alien element on the national ethno-cultural environment.

Since John L. Esposito edited The Oxford History of Islam (Oxford University Press, 1999) there has not appeared a comprehensive reference book covering Islamic history with regional studies from the classical to contemporary eras and throwing light on contemporary challenges. This team-edited volume An Introduction to Islam in the 21st Century provides an overview of the Islamic tradition for Western readers which captures its diversity, interpretive debates, and regional differences. It begins with the social and political realities informing 21st century Islamic practice, and examines varying interpretations and debates over hotly debated issues such as the phenomenon of militancy, Islamophobia, and the teaching of Islam in the West. The central approach is that the “image of Islam (particularly in the West) is very different from the lived reality of over a billion adherents around the globe” (p.4). An accessible introduction to Islam, An Introduction to Islam in the 21st Century announces itself as a western-oriented contemporary product.

Abstract:
This multidisciplinary study addresses a host of issues facing Iran. Througha comprehensive study of political, economic, cultural, social, and securityrelatedquestions, seventeen Iranian researchers tried to create a book that is, as Katouzian states in her preface, “likely to become a standard text for therelevant academic courses.”In an elaborate introduction, the editors paint a quick picture of eventsendured by the Iranian people during the twentieth century up to theadvent of the Islamic Republic in 1979. Farideh Farhi examines the questionof crafting a national identity as a national preoccupation in modernIranian history. She points to the central role of a narrative reference thatbrings together and connects all Iranians. The second main point of heranalysis is the ongoing tension between what she calls autocratic/theocratic/arbitrary rule and democracy/chaos and Iran’s relationship with theoutside world. Farhi studies three sets of discursive transformations toillustrate her main points: the transformation of the national question intoan ethnic challenge, of the Islam/pre-Islam dichotomy into a confrontationbetween popular sovereignty and patrimonialism, and of how “Iran” seesitself in the world...

Abstract:
In our work, we attempt to describe the events that impacted the life of the Muslim community in the multi-confessional republic of North Ossetia-Alania at the end of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century; to analyze their causal link, the influence of Caucasian and global trends on them. During the study, we applied descriptive-narrative and historical-genetic methods. We have come to the conclusion that at the end of the 20th – early 21st century the Ossetian Muslim community turned out to be receptive to global trends, while the Ossetian “neophytes” – to the ideas of radical Islamic movements. However, by now the split of the Muslim community of Ossetia into supporters of moderate Islam and supporters of radical views has been overcome. The terrorist attack in Beslan in 2004 had unprecedented consequences for the Muslim community in Ossetia and noticeably changed the attitude towards Islam within the Ossetian society. It has also become evident that if in the first decade of the 21st century tension between the Islamic clergy of Ossetia and representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church were dominant, then in the second decade of the century the conflicts of Muslims with passionate adherents of the traditional Ossetian religion were actualized.

Abstract:
A B S T R A C T The research aims to find out the history of literature in the Umayyad era, the Abbasid era, and find out how the relationship between this Islamic library network is. The method used in this study is to use historical research methods. Historical research also has stages of research methods. The first is finding the topic first, the next is the heuristic stage which means finding and gathering sources to be able to find out all past historical events or events, and the next stage is interpretation. The conclusion of this study is that during the Umayyad Daula period a breakthrough was made by developing private libraries, but also developing public libraries. Not a few from this era there are figures who are writers or authors of works in certain fields. Meanwhile, during the Abbasid period, it became the pinnacle of Islamic civilization. Muslim scholars who were experts in various sciences, both religious and non-religious, also appeared at this time. The development of civilization that was so rapid was also supported by the economic progress of the empire which became a link between the eastern and western worlds. Relatively good political stability, especially during the early Abbasid period, also became a trigger for the progress of Islamic civilization. Scientific relations in relation to Islamic literature is a complex relationship. From a historical point of view, this relationship has been established between the West and the East and vice versa, long before the appearance of Islam in the Arabian Peninsula, when the influence of Hellenism had spread to the eastern regions of Persia, Alexandria, Iraq. Keywords: Islamic Literature; Abbasid Daula; Umayyad Daula A B S T R A K Penelitian ini berusaha memahami hubungan antara jaringan perpustakaan Islam ini dengan sejarah sastra pada masa Bani Umayyah dan Abbasiyah. Abstract:
Abstract Nationalism is an ideology that has taken different forms in different times, locations, and situations. In the 19th century, classical liberal nationalism depended on the ties between the nation state and its citizenship. That form of nationalism was accompanied by “the state- and nation-building” processes in Europe. In the 20th century, nationalism transformed into ethnic nationalism, depending on ideas of common origin; it arose especially after World War I and II and after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Finally, at the beginning of 21st century, nationalism began to integrate with religion as a result of global political changes. The terrorist attack on the United States, and then the effects that the United States and its allies have created in the widespread Muslim geography, have added new and different dimensions to nationalism. The main aim of this study is to investigate the intersection points between religion and nationalism, especially in the case of political Islam.

Women's leadership has always been a discussion of controversy, especially in explaining, interpreting and determining the law of a woman's leadership. This study aims to: (1) Review the interpretation related to the concept of leadership with the interpretation model of maudhu'i Al-Qur'an letter An-Nisa verse 34 and Al-Mujadalah verse 11 according to some classical and contemporary commentators including Ibn Abbas, Imam Jalaludin, Ibn Kathir, Mustafa Al-Maraghi, Muhammad Hasbi and Quraish Shihab, (2) Assessing the relevance of the concept of female leadership in an Islamic perspective with the concept of leadership in the 21st century. This type of research is literature study using descriptive-analytic method, historical-philosophical approach, carried out with documentation techniques, analysis, interpretation, checking the validity of the data to obtain the results of the study according to purpose. The results of the study show that there are differences between the thoughts of classical mufassir and contemporary mufassir on women's leadership based on An-Nisa verse 34. It is the differences in times, conditions, situations and civilizations that influence it. The 21st Century is no longer a century where women cannot join in politics, government, social affairs, education, and so on. Contemporary mufassir allow women to be leaders as long as they do not violate the sharia and do not ignore the main task of being a wife. Relevance is related to the realization of the Constitution of 1945 article 27 concerning equal rights and obligations of Indonesian citizens, and Article 31 related to the right of education for all citizens of Indonesia relevant to the letter of Al-Mujadalah verse 11. The relevance is related to the realization of Article 27 of the 1945 constitution concerning the equality of Indonesian citizens' rights and obligations, and Article 31 concerning the right of education of all Indonesian citizens relevant to Al-Mujadalah verse 11. Abstract:
The complicated process of the Pashtun tribes’ conversion to Islam is indirectly reflected in tribal genealogies, which bear traces of artificial Islamification. Recorded in the early 17th century, these genealogies are poorly consistent with apocryphal Hadiths and hagiographies intended to prove that Pashtuns had steadily adhered to Sunni Islam since the times of the Prophet Muḥammad. The politicised concept of the primordial adherence of Pashtuns to Islam was likely to have been released for wide circulation during the reign of the Lodī sultans in the late 15th century. By the mid-17th century, it became an integral part of Pashtun ethnic identity. However, written sources in Pashto and Persian dating from the same period and originating from tribal areas are unanimous in describing Pashtuns’ religious beliefs and practices as a motley assemblage of Pīrī-murīdī and Pīrparastī customs conforming to the tribalistic ideology of a segmentary Islamic society. More sophisticated forms of Pashtuns’ tribal Islam emerged with the progress of literature in the native vernacular.

Abstract:
The agenda of the global Islamic discourse of the 15th century of hijra (third quarter of the 20th – early 21st century) is formed under the influence of both endogenous and exogenous factors. The transformation of social, political, and religious determinants, as well as changes in the interpre-tation of local and global history, caused a rethinking of a number of doctrines and strategies that dominated the world's theoretical space and socio-political practices. An in-depth analysis of the re-alization of the theory of modernity and the doctrine of secularism raised the question of finding adequate interpretation tools in highlighting the current tendencies of world history. The search for a model of “Islamic modernity” in the Islamic intellectual space is a responce to the changes in the global world order. Understanding global challenges has contributed to the evolution of an Islamic spiritual and legal tradition ensuring its return to the public space in the era of post-secularism in a renewed quality, without excessive sacralizing the symbolic capital of Islam. On this basis, the so-called “New Islam” has taken shape representing new approaches to the issues of self-identification, political leadership, gender, etc.

The learning strategy applied by the history teacher basically affects the process and learning outcomes of students. Moreover, in the 21st century, various challenges arise so that the concept of 21st century education is needed to face these challenges. One of the efforts that history teachers can do in facing the challenges of 21st century education is to promote critical literacy. This article is a theoretical study written using the literature study method. The purpose of writing this article is to try to embody the two discussions. First, provision of critical literacy for prospective history teachers. Second, the strategy of history teachers in promoting critical literacy to students. Based on the results of the study of literature, it can be concluded that history teachers basically have the potential to promote critical literacy to students through the concept of historical thinking skills and controversial historical discourses. Considering that, in the education process at the tertiary level, prospective history teachers are very familiar with critical literacy so that they have the opportunity to transmit the implementation of critical literacy to students in secondary schools.

Abstract:
Islamic Banking and Finance (IBF), both in theory and practice, has made great strides over the last 40 years. However, it is not spared from criticism, much of it relating to issues of ‘Islamicity’ and ‘originality’ of mainly IBF practice. One major reason underlying these issues relates to the quality of human resources related to IBF. This article first presents some of the tensions that exist in contemporary IBF. These tensions include debates within the theoretical discourse regarding preferred instruments in IBF. The article also highlights some problems that occur due to the divergence between the theory of IBF and with its practice, leading to a general perception that IBF merely duplicates conventional finance rather than offering any true alternative. The article argues that to resolve these tensions, greater emphasis must be placed on creating qualified human capital at all levels of the IBF discipline and industry. In addition, IBF would be better served if Islam and its shari’ah were viewed as a civilisational framework, rather than a narrow fiqh/law focus. Having a civilisational understanding of Islam, its shari’ah and the Islamic heritage on the one hand, as well as a genuine understanding of modern economics and finance on the other, are necessary pre-requisites to enable IBF to play its role in serving the ummah more effectively in the twenty-first century. Genuine Islamisation of knowledge would produce the human capital desired.

This paper is a comparative study of two works- Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie and Antigonie by Sophocles. This paper aims at intertextual analysis of the selected texts to unearth the issue of fundamentalism and fear of Islam in the modern world. The West is in the grip of Islamic phobia which is quite haunting for it. Their arts and literature, particularly after the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers of World Trade Center abound in themes of fundamentalism and extremism as it is associated with Islam. Kamila Shamsie deals with the issue of fundamentalism in Home Fire so does Sophocles centuries ago in Antigone. There is no single text in literature rather every text is a mosaic of previous texts. One fine example related to this is The Waste Land (1922) by T. S. Eliot. Likewise, Home Fire bears handsome intertextuality with the previous texts, particularly Antigone.

Many world issues are faced and then become challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to define these challenges and how to overcome them as alternative solutions in architecture, with the context of sustainable architecture from an Islamic perspective. The methods used are literature review and logical argumentation. The results show that the challenges of the 21st century in the context of sustainable architecture include fundamental issues, namely nature conservation, related to humanity and technology as specific objectives, and several other objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals. Challenges can be faced by integrating the handling of each aspect, focusing on humans. In the view of Islam, integrated solutions are carried out within the spirituality framework, where humans act as caliphs. Through education, a means of accelerating human knowledge is obtained; through a spiritual approach, humans will think twice about destroying the universe and its contents.

Abstract:
Democracy is being pushed aggressively on a global scale as the best and final form of government without even an alternative offered to the opposing views by the champions of the system in the 21st century. The main arguments presented by the apologies of democracy is its feasibility of providing and guaranteeing freedom of speech, liberty of choosing a leadership, accountability and transparency. However, this view is being perceived with cynicism in other parts of the world particularly the Islamic world where the absolute sovereignty and laws are referred to from a divine source. Most of the contemporary Islamic scholars are not against democracy except where its principles such as man-made laws are regarded as supreme over the Shari’ah law. But, Rached Ghannouchi, a Tunisian activist and a political leader believed that there is a perfect way to synthesise between the Western liberal democracy and Islamic governance through the side line of political Islam and the full Islamisation of democracy in practice. Ghannouchi’s combination of ideology, philosophy and activism earned him a status of an Islamic democratic philosopher in the 21st century. This study critically examined the efforts made by Ghannouchi in Islamizing democracy using a rhetorical analytical approach of linking and comparing the early Islamic philosophy on democracy and Ghannouchi’s ideas to arrive at a position of policy implication for democratic governance in the Muslim world.

Abstarct The Political Direction of Islamic Education In the 21st century, history has noted that Islamic education in Indonesia has taken root since the entry of Islam into the archipelago, that Islamic education is perfectly upright and perfect is inseparable from the role of the sultans, scholars, and Muslims continues to try to carry out the study of science majors , discussion, writing in the context of jihad fi sabillilah tafaqohu fiddien for the glory of Islam. It is also supported by Islamic political policies that are very beneficial for the interests of the world of Islamic education. Since the destruction of the Caliphate of the Ottoman Turkish Islamic government and the destruction of the Islamic kingdoms in Indonesia and the world. Then the condition of Islamic education experienced ups and downs and the lack of support from the Indonesian government. Therefore, after Indonesia's independence and the increasingly open world of globalization and modernization, it is necessary to look for ideas and ideal forms that are integrally holistic for the world of Islamic education. As well as being able to influence the policies of the Indonesian government and master the political policies of 21st century Islamic education for the future of Indonesian Muslims. Departing from the challenges and demands of the need to generating heredity who are creative, innovative, productive and able to contribute to building society, to form a better world civilization, the administration of education requires a new perspective — that is, a transformative perspective. Using this type of literature review research, it was found that the transformative perspective in education was introduced by Mezirow in his theory of transformative learning. Through this theory, the theory of transformative learning develops towards the theory of transformative education in the context of facing globalization and the development of the 21st century. The implication for Islamic educational institutions is the need to focus on quality to become transformative educational institutions.

Abstract:
The spread of Islam in Taiwan is inseparable from the history of Islam's entry into Tiongkok, which began with the migration of Chinese Muslims to Taiwan in the 17th century and was followed by subsequent migrations. This research analyses the phases and influences brought by Muslim migrants to Taiwan. The method used in this research is the historical research method, including heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. The results of this study show that there are four phases of Muslim migration to Taiwan: the first phase occurred in the 17th century, the second phase 1952-1961 which occurred in two waves, the first wave 1952-1954, the third phase occurred in 1961, this phase is also known as the evacuation phase of KMT Veterans from Burma and Thailand. The fourth phase occurred in 1989, with the influx of migrant workers from Tiongkok, Burma, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia; these immigrants positively impacted the development of Islam in Taiwan. Evidence of the development of Islam in this fourth phase is the existence of halal certification, halal restaurants and hotels, Muslim-friendly neighborhoods, the establishment of the Indonesian Mosque (Masjid At-Taqwa), the emergence of Muslim communities (FORMMIT, Chinese Muslim Association, Indonesian Student Association) and the presence of Indonesian Muslim organizations (Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah).

Abstract:
Research on about the Islamic religious doctrine and theology an extremely important role in Islamic studies. After the introduction of Islam to China, it gradually evolved into its own unique sectarian system, known as the "three major sects" and the "four menhuan". The research in the fields of doctrine and theology gradually progressed after the reform and opening up, and its research methods and many other limitations were not fully developed. Since the beginning of the 21st century, there have been new changes in the research in this field, not only a number of new achievements have emerged, but also a relatively systematic disciplinary system has been formed. Furthermore, Jingtang Jiaoyu (religious education) as an important component of Islamic religious education in China, the initiation of scripture education was carried out by Hudengzhou, in Shaanxi during the Ming Dynasty. This education has gone through the early development of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, as well as before and after the Xinhai Revolution, and has a history of over 400 years. Jingtang Jiaoyu (religious education) is constantly improving at different stages of development, adapting to the trend of the times. However, since the 20th century, it has basically not been improved or developed, especially in the northwest region, where medieval conditions have been preserved and it is difficult to be accepted by the mainstream education system. In this paper, the research history of Islamic teaching in China by the Chinese academic community is taken as the research object, and a detailed introduction is given to the evolution of this research field.

Abstract:
Islam has been interpreted by individuals since its birth and Political Islam is one of them. Moderate Muslim Scholars have identified some of its interpretations as extreme due to their consequences and negative effects on Muslims and others. Political Islam has a long history and the Justice and Development Party (the AKP) is a new face of it in 21st Century. The purpose of this paper is to explore the defining political Islam, especially in the characteristics of the Ruling Party (Justice and Development Party) and compare its Islam to Hizmet (service) Movement. Although the AKP has long benefitted from the valuable support of Fethullah Gülen and his followers in the way of democratizing the state and its institutions the two allies have clearly separated from each other since 2013 maybe a little bit earlier. This separation has created a massive impact on Muslims as well as on other people. Due to a great polarization, hatred and enmity between the two groups and its huge effect on society it has become a necessity to analyze the interpretation of Islam by these two groups.
