Abstract:
Objectives: The evidence on utilization of immediate postpartum intrauterine contraceptive devices (IPPIUCDs) and its associated factors are limited in Ethiopia. Hence, this study intended to assess IPPIUCD utilization and related factors among women who gave birth in Adama town public hospitals, Ethiopia. Method: A facility-based cross-sectional study was done among 493 postpartum mothers at selected government health facilities in Adama town from January 20 to February 20, 2021. All women who gave birth in selected government health facilities and within 48 h of postpartum were included in the study. Data were collected using an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Logistic regression models were used to identify the factors associated with IPPIUCD utilization. Adjusted odds ratios (AORs) with 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated to measure the strength of association and statistical significance was declared at p < 0.05. Result: In this study, 22.1% (95% CI: 17.3–25.2) of the mothers used IPPIUCDs within 48 h of giving birth. Having three or more children (AOR = 4.18, 95% CI: 1.79–9.79), having no desire to have another child (AOR = 3.9, 95% CI: 1.86–8.17), counseling after delivery (AOR = 3.1 95% CI: 1.52–6.34), and having good knowledge about PPIUCD (AOR = 3.82, 95% CI: 1.94–7.49) were significantly associated with IPPIUCD utilization. Conclusion: The utilization of IPPIUCD in this study was low. Strategies to raise pregnant mothers’ awareness of IPPIUCD through mass media, and integrating standard counseling on immediate postpartum intrauterine device (IPPIUD) during antenatal care, and the immediate postpartum period are required to improve IPPIUD utilization.

Abstract:
The progressive iterative approximation (PIA) plays an important role in curve and surface fitting. By using the diagonally compensated reduction of the collocation matrix, we propose the preconditioned progressive iterative approximation (PPIA) to improve the convergence rate of PIA. For most of the normalized totally positive bases, we show that the presented PPIA can accelerate the convergence rate significantly in comparison with the weighted progressive iteration approximation (WPIA) and the progressive iterative approximation with different weights (DWPIA). Furthermore, we propose an inexact variant of the PPIA (IPPIA) to reduce the computational complexity of the PPIA. We introduce the inexact solver of the preconditioning system by employing some state-of-the-art iterative methods. Numerical results show that both the PPIA and the IPPIA converge faster than the WPIA and DWPIA, while the elapsed CPU times of the PPIA and IPPIA are less than those of the WPIA and DWPIA.

Abstract:
The study aimed to investigate whether serum sFlt-1 (soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1) at 11-13 weeks’ gestation in pregnancies that subsequently developed preeclampsia was different from those without preeclampsia and compare screening performance of the International Prediction of Pregnancy Complications (IPPIC) reported models, which include various combinations of maternal factors, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, PlGF (placental growth factor) and sFlt-1 and the competing risk (CR) models, which include various combinations of maternal factors, mean arterial pressure (MAP) and PlGF for predicting any-onset, early-onset, and late-onset preeclampsia. This was a prospective multicenter study in 7877 singleton pregnancies. The differences of the predictive performance between the IPPIC and CR models were compared. There were 141 women (1.79%) who developed preeclampsia, including 13 cases (0.17%) of early-onset preeclampsia and 128 cases (1.62%) of late-onset preeclampsia. In pregnancies that developed preeclampsia compared to unaffected pregnancies, median serum sFlt-1 levels and its MoMs were not significantly different ( p >0.05). There was no significant association between gestational age at delivery and log 10 sFlt-1 and log 10 sFlt-1 MoM ( p >0.05). The areas under the curve of CR models were significantly higher than the IPPIC models for the prediction of any-onset and late-onset preeclampsia but not for early-onset preeclampsia. In conclusion, there are no significant differences in the maternal serum sFlt-1 levels at 11-13 weeks’ gestation between women who subsequently develop preeclampsia and those who do not. Moreover, the CR models for the prediction of any-onset and late-onset preeclampsia perform better than the IPPIC reported model.

Abstract:
Background. Immediate postpartum intrauterine contraceptive device (IPPIUCD) is a lucrative postpartum family planning method which provides effective reversible contraception to women in the delivery setting. Our aim was to study the clinical outcomes of IPPIUCD insertions and compare them as a factor of route of insertion (vaginal versus caesarean).Methods. This is a retrospective analytical study done in a tertiary care teaching institute. A Cohort of 593 vaginal and caesarean deliveries with IPPIUCD insertions, over a two-year period, was studied and compared for follow-up results. Outcome measures were safety (perforation, irregular bleeding, unusual vaginal discharge, and infection), efficacy (pregnancy, expulsions, and discontinuations), and incidence of undescended IUCD strings. Descriptives were calculated for various outcomes and chi square tests were used for comparison in between categorical variables.Results. Overall complication rates were low. No case of perforation or pregnancy was reported. Spontaneous expulsions were present in 5.3% cases and were significantly higher in vaginal insertions (p=0.042). The incidence of undescended strings was high (38%), with highly significant difference between both groups (p=0.000).Conclusion. IPPIUCD is a strong weapon in the family planning armoury and should be encouraged in both vaginal and caesarean deliveries. Early follow-up should be encouraged to detect expulsions and tackle common problems.

Abstract:
IntroductionIn 2013, the Pediatric Association of the Netherlands launched an evidence-based guideline ‘Palliative care for children’. To promote implementation in daily practice and hereby improve quality of paediatric palliative care, we aimed to develop a functional individualised paediatric palliative care plan (IPPCP) that covers physical, psychological, spiritual and social functioning, with great emphasis on the guideline’s recommendations, advance care planning and patients’ and parents’ preferences and desires.MethodsA Dutch working group (28 individuals) with a strong multidisciplinary character developed a draft IPPCP, which was piloted retrospectively and prospectively. In the pilots we completed, the IPPCPs for patients who were recently diagnosed with a life-threatening or life-limiting condition and evaluated completeness, usability and user-friendliness.ResultsThe final IPPCP comprised five domains: (1) IPPCP data, (2) basics, (3) social, (4) psychosocial and spiritual and (5) physical care. Each domain covered various components. In both pilots, the IPPCP was considered a comprehensive document that covered all areas of paediatric palliative care and was experienced as an improvement to the present situation. However, the current form was regarded to lack user-friendliness.ConclusionWe propose a set of essential components of a comprehensive IPPCP for paediatric palliative care with extra attention for advance care planning and anticipatory action. Patients’ and parents’ preferences and desires are included next to the recommendations of the evidence-based guideline ‘Palliative care for children’.

Abstract:
AbstractThe analogy between virtue and crafts is the core of Socratic ethics, whose fundamental principle is that virtue is a kind of knowledge similar to technical skills. Moral knowledge, however, is on a superior level and is different from other crafts since it concerns the ends of human action. This article aims to show that the main purpose of Laches, Charmides, Lesser Hippias and Protagoras is to bring out this distinction. More specifically, all the four dialogues follow a similar pattern, i.e. they lead to the conclusion that virtue is moral knowledge by means of preliminary argumentations which consider the opposite view, supposing that it consists in technical knowledge. Thus we are shown the difficulties arising if we fail to distinguish moral knowledge, before the dialogue reaches its positive conclusion.

Abstract:
The crystallization behavior of random propene-octene isotactic copolymers (iPPC8) prepared with a homogeneous metallocene catalyst has been studied. Samples of iPPC8 with low octene content up to about 7 mol% were isothermally crystallized from the melt at various crystallization temperatures. The samples crystallize in mixtures of the α and γ forms of isotactic polypropylene (iPP). The relative amount of γ form increases with increasing crystallization temperature, and a maximum amount of γ form (fγ(max)) is achieved for each sample. The crystallization behavior of iPPC8 copolymers is compared with the crystallization from the melt of propene–ethylene, propene–butene, propene–pentene, and propene–hexene copolymers. The results show that the behavior of iPPC8 copolymers is completely different from those described in the literature for the other copolymers of iPP. In fact, the maximum amount of γ form achieved in samples of different copolymers of iPP generally increases with increasing comonomer content, while in iPPC8 copolymers the maximum amount of γ form decreases with increasing octene content. The different behaviors are discussed based on the inclusion of co-monomeric units in the crystals of α and γ forms of iPP or their exclusion from the crystals. In iPPC8 copolymers, octene units are excluded from the crystals giving only the interruption effect that shortens the length of regular propene sequences, inducing crystallization of the γ form at low octene concentrations, lower than 2 mol%. At higher octene concentration, the crystallization of the kinetically favored α form prevails.

Abstract:
AbstractThis study aims to address the utilization level of The Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA) and Indonesia-Pakistan Preferential Trade Agreement (IPPTA). The level of FTA utilization for exports was measured by the ratio of trade value recorded in the Certificate of Origin (CoO) to Indonesia’s export value to the related country. While the level of utilization of imports was defined by the ratio of the import value of eligible products to Indonesia's total imports from the related country. The study found IJEPA’s utilization during 2012-2016 tended to decrease. In 2016, the level of utilization was about 47.2%. While IPPTA utilization for exports to Pakistan experienced a significant increase since it was implemented in 2013 with a rate of export utilization was 72.0% in 2016. On the import side, the level of utilization under IJEPA reached 67.7% while IPPTA was only 18.8% at the same period. In terms of the imports utilization level of both IJEPA and IPPTA, it was relatively stagnant, while the number of companies utilize IJEPA’s CoO was saturated. In contrast, IPPTA’s CoO users still grew at 18.2% per year. This study concluded PTA provides more positive impact on increasing Indonesia's exports to related countries than comprehensive FTAs. Thus, establishing an FTA in the form of an Economic Partnership needs to be followed with the cooperation that guarantees trade balance within the parties.

Abstract:
The present study examined the factor structure of the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA; Armsden & Greenberg, 1987) in a US sample of 282 clinic-referred anxious Latino youth (48.9% girls; M = 10.5 years). The IPPA is a self-report questionnaire that assesses youths’ perceptions of attachment to parents and to peers and contains a three factor structure with items measuring Trust, Communication, and Alienation. Both confirmatory factor analysis and exploratory factor analysis were performed to test the factor structure of the IPPA in a sample of anxious Latino youth. Results showed that a two factor structure best accounted for the data in the present study. These findings are inconsistent with prior research concluding that the IPPA contained a three factor structure (Armsden & Greenberg, 1987). Results suggest that the IPPA may not capture the intended constructs among ethnically diverse clinic-referred populations. Implications of the findings are further discussed.

Abstract:
Abstract The World Trade Organization (WTO)-Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) agreement allows countries to use different standards and different methods of inspection for products. To achieve the targets, international standards need to be developed and the WTO-SPS agreement has assigned responsibilities to the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) to develop standards for plant health and International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM). This chapter describes the IPPC as the international standard-setting body for developing international standards, guidelines and recommendations with respect to phytosanitary measures related to trade in food and agriculture. It also discusses the ISPMs, which are the standards, guidelines and recommendations recognized as the basis for phytosanitary measures applied by members of the WTO under the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (the WTO-SPS Agreement). Details of ISPMs related to plant-parasitic nematodes, how to determine their invasiveness and the subjects dealt with in this chapter are summarized.

Abstract:
In this work we study the model checking problem for probabilistic multiagent systems with respect to the probabilistic epistemic logic PETL, which can specify both temporal and epistemic properties. We show that under the realistic assumption of uniform schedulers, i.e., the choice of every agent depends only on its observation history, PETL model checking is undecidable. By restricting the class of schedulers to be memoryless schedulers, we show that the problem becomes decidable. More importantly, we design a novel algorithm which reduces the model checking problem into a mixed integer non-linear programming problem, which can then be solved by using an SMT solver. The algorithm has been implemented in an existing model checker and experiments are conducted on examples from the IPPC competitions.

Abstract:
By nature, oil and gas operations are sensitive to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements. Within the Norwegian Continental Self (NCS), it is mandatory to implement the Best Available Techniques (BAT) guidelines as required in the European Union’s Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) directive. The directive provides guidelines for selecting BAT in industrial activities while protecting the environment as a whole. One of the major challenges for an oil and gas operator is to satisfy the guidelines while confirming fitness for purpose with respect to the different technologies applied. Hence, the concept of technique qualification is paramount to reveal opportunities to improve system design, to minimize schedule risk and to reduce cost risks during operations by reducing uncertainties and increasing reliability. In this paper, we are concerned with the process of selecting a technique for supplying power from shore to an offshore unit. This paper discusses how we can give priorities to HSE concerns, while also satisfying financial objectives, in the context of implementing the BAT guidelines. The analysis aims to qualify the technique as a whole, considering the capability of satisfying the underlying objective of controlling environmental pollution.

Abstract:
In order to reduce emission of pollutants, regulations such as Clean Air Act in the United States of America or the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) and the Industrial Emission Directive (IED) in Europe have been voted. On sites like refineries, the end users have implemented systematic control of Volatile Organic Compounds (COV) in the atmosphere, on their equipments (valves, flanges, pump, compressor…). These controls involve methods of detection such as sniffing with a Flame Ionization Detector (FID) managed by an operator according to EPA21 method. This method is time-consuming and exposes operators to hazardous situations when statistical counting shows that the global emission are often connected with few equipments in refineries. Thus, the use of specific IR imaging with a camera as a remote control method sensible to selected organic gases seems a very attractive alternative, even if this method does not able to quantify very accurate leakage rates. This study presented here investigates the influence of several parameters on the detection of COV with IR camera, under controlled laboratory conditions. External parameters such as distance of view, type of gas, wind, and camera configuration parameters are investigated. The measurement enables definition of the limits of the IR imaging method. If the study shows that the camera must be operated by skilled and trained personal to camera tuning and image analyzing, it remains a very interesting alternative method to sniffing in many cases. The next step of the study will involve the use of the camera on various kind of sites using organic gases.

Abstract:
The present discussion on environmental impact leads to the need to reduce fugitive emissions in the processing industry. In Europe, the IPPC requires national governments to put standards — such as VDI-guideline 2290 [1] — into place that force plant operators to meet the best available techniques. In this study, an approach is presented, to estimate the effects of inhomogeneous gasket stresses, geometry changes and combinations of different gasket materials to improve the sealing performance and reduce fugitive emissions. Compression and leakage tests according to DIN EN 13555 [2] formed the basis to characterize the gasket pressure-closure behaviour and permeability of a homogeneous stressed sheet gasket material. Provided that linear pressure dependency is applicable, transport-theory according to heat conduction can be applied to calculate the effects of inhomogeneous gasket stress distribution or variation of gasket geometry such as gasket width. The method implies a two-stage procedure. In the first step, the local gasket stress distribution and thus the corresponding permeability in a flange connection is calculated. The local permeability is allocated for each element in terms of a unique material definition. Solving the steady state in the second step under inner and ambient pressure-constraint leads to the internal pressure distribution, local leakage flow and the overall leakage rate. The approach is applied and verified at an inhomogeneous stressed sheet gasket and enables us to predict the reduction in the leakage rate by factor 3000 of an prestressed PTFE-sheet gasket due to the decreased gasket width.
