Abstract:
<p>ABSTRACT</p><p><br />The objective of the experiment was to investigate the physical and chemical characteristic of eight genotypes of papaya i.e. IPB1, IPB 2A, IPB 3, IPB 3A, IPB 4, IPB 7, IPB 8, and IPB 9 on two stages of ripening period based on percentage of the yellow area of fruit peel (75% yellow and 100% yellow). The fruits were <br />picked at 25% yellow of fruit peel colour. The experiment was conducted in split plot wi th completely randomized block design. The main plot was ripening periods of 75% and 100% ripe, while the genotypes were taken at subplot. There was no significant different on physical and chemical characteristics between papaya at stadium 75% and 100% yellow. Flesh firmness of IPB 9 was better than IPB 1, IPB 4 and IPB 8. Ascorbic acid content of IPB 4 (107.36 mg/100 g) was higher than that of IPB 2A and IPB 3A. Carotenoid content of IPB 4 (29. 73 mg/100g) was higher than that of the other genotypes.</p><p><br />Key words: Carica papaya, physical characteristic, chemical characteristic, ascorbic acid, carotenoid</p>

Abstract:
O objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho de clones de batata-doce cultivados em diferentes períodos. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos casualizados, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com três repetições. Foram testados nas parcelas três períodos de cultivo (3, 5 e 7 meses), e nas subparcelas, cinco clones de batata-doce (acessos IBP-007, IBP-038, IBP-075, IBP-079 e IBP-149), e a cultivar comercial Brazlândia Rosada. As variáveis analisadas foram sobrevivência, danos causados por insetos de solos (notas de 1 a 5 onde 1= sem danos e 5= muitos danos, sem valor comercial), massa fresca e seca de parte aérea, produtividade total de raízes. Os maiores danos causados por insetos de solo observou-se no clone IBP-007 (4,29), e menores danos nos clones IPB-038 (2,84), IPB-075 (3,01) e IPB-149 (2,88), que apresentaram resistência no cultivo durante sete meses. O clone IPB-007 apresentou elevados valores de massa fresca (14,07 t/ha) e seca (2,81 t/ha) de parte aérea, em todos periodos de cultivo, apresentando também, alta produtividade de raizes (33,16 t/ha). Recomenda-se cultivar a batata doce durante um período de cinco meses.

Abstract:
Inorganic phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (IPB) are an important component of microbial populations in lake sediments. The phosphate that they decompose and release becomes an important source of phosphorus for eutrophic algae. The IPB strains were screened and isolated from the sediments of Sancha Lake using National Botanical Research Institute’s phosphate (NBRIP) plates. Their taxonomy was further determined by the 16S rDNA technique. The tricalcium phosphate-solubilizing ability of obtained IPB strains was evaluated using NBRIP- bromophenol blue (BPB) plates and Pikovskaya (PVK) liquid medium. Then, the ability of IPB strains to release phosphorus from the sediments were investigated by mimicking the lake environment. In this study, a total of 43 IPB strains were screened and isolated from the sediments of Sancha Lake, belonging to three phyla, eight families, and ten genera. Among them, two potentially new strains, SWSI1728 and SWSI1734, belonged to genus Bacillus, and a potentially new strain, SWSI1719, belonged to family Micromonosporaceae. Overall, the IBP strains were highly diverse and Bacillus and Paenibacillus were the dominant genera. In the tricalcium phosphate-solubilizing experiment, only 30 of the 43 IPB strains exhibited clear halo zones on plates, while in the liquid culture experiment, all strains were able to dissolve tricalcium phosphate. The phosphate-solubilizing abilities of the strains varied significantly, and the strain SWSI1725 of the Bacillus genus showed the strongest ability with a phosphate-solubilizing content of 103.57 mg/L. The sterilized systems demonstrated significantly elevated phosphorus hydrochloride (HCl–P) decomposition and release from the sediments after the inoculation of IPB strains, whereas no significant effect was demonstrated on the phosphonium hydroxide (NaOH-P). Thus, the IPB strains in the sediments of Sancha Lake possessed rich diversity and the ability to release phosphorus in sediments.

Abstract:
TURP is performed in 80% of cases of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), but one of the alternative methods, which uses the photocoagulating energy of the laser beam and in particular the Nd-Yag, seems to be very promising. Used in prostates with a suitable weight (< 40 g) and in particular in high-risk patients with myocardiopathies and/or coagulative troubles, this source of energy, through fibres at right angles or in contact or interstitial, permits the photocoagulation or vaporisation of the prostatic tissue. Association of this technique with the usual TURP has been suggested in heavier prostates, for a quick return to spontaneous micturition. The absence of bleeding, retrograde ejaculation and more serious complications, plus the reduced time of hospitalisation make this a safe technique in selected cases.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to develop a protocol for thein vitroconservation of sweet potato genotypes using the slow growth technique. The first experiment was conducted in a4×5×2factorial scheme, testing four genotypes (IPB-007, IPB-052, IPB-072, and IPB-137), five concentrations of abscisic acid (ABA) (0.0, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0, and 8.0 mg·L−1), and two temperatures (18 and 25°C). The second experiment was conducted in a4×3×3factorial scheme at 18°C, testing four genotypes (IPB-007, IPB-052, IPB-072, and IPB-137), three variations of MS salts (50, 75, and 100%), and three concentrations of sucrose (10, 20, and 30 g·L−1). Every three months, we evaluated the survival (%), shoot height, and shoot viability.In vitroconservation of the sweet potato genotypes IPB-052 and IPB-007 was obtained over three and six months, respectively, using MS medium plus 2.0 mg·L−1of ABA at either 18 or 25°C. Genotypes IPB-072 and IPB-137 can be kept for three and six months, respectively, in MS medium without ABA at 18°C. It is possible to store IPB-052 and IPB-072 for six months and IPB-007 and IPB-137 for nine months using 30 g·L−1of sucrose and 50% MS salts.

<p>ABSTRACT</p><p><br />The purpose of this study was to estimate the narrow sense heritability (h2ns), broad sense heritability (h2bs), heterosis, and heterobioltiosis, coefficient of genetic variances, coefficient of phenotypic variances, additive and dominant variances. Pepper population used in this study consisted of IPB C2, IPB C9, IPB C10, IPB C15 and half diallel hybrid. To estimate the effect of reciprocal IPB C10 x IPB C2 hybrid was used. Accelerated aging method was used to test the vigor using methanol 20% in five periods of time 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours. Observations consisted of: (1) germination rate, (2) the length of radicle, (3) the length of hypocotile, (4) dry weight of normal seedlings, (5) speed of growth, (6) electrical conductivity and (7) moisture content. Genetic parameters were estimated using affinity analysis. Reciprocal effect indicated that there was no maternal effect. Parents with high combining ability was IPB C15 and that with high specific combining ability was IPB C2 x IPB C5 and gave positive heterosis.</p><p>Key words: pepper, genetic coefficient, heterosis, seed vigor, specific combining ability</p><p> </p><p>ABSTRAK</p><p><br />Penelitian ini bertujuan menduga nilai parameter genetik untuk viabilitas dan vigor benih cabai menggunakan metode persilangan setengah dialel untuk mendapatkan informasi nilai<br />heritabilitas, heterosis, koefisien keragaman genetik, varians aditif dan dominan, sehingga diharapkan dapat mendukung keberhasilan program pemuliaan yang mengkombinasikan karakter tanaman dengan viabilitas dan vigor benih yang baik. Empat genotipe tetua cabai yang digunakan adalah IPB C2, IPB C9, IPB C10, IPB C15, dan enam genotipe cabai hasil persilangan antar tetua adalah IPB C2 x IPB C9, IPB C2 x IPB C10, IPB C2 x IPB C15, IPB C9 x IPB C10, IPB C9 x IPB C15, IPB C10 x IPB C15. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Kelompok Lengkap Teracak (RKLT). Pengamatan untuk pengujian vigor dan viabilitas dilakukan pada genotipe tetua dan persilangan dengan tolok ukur yaitu (1) daya berkecambah (2) panjang akar, (3) panjang hipokotil, (4) bobot kering kecambah (5) kadar air benih, (6) kecepatan tumbuh (Kct), dan (7) daya hantar listrik (DHL). Pengujian vigor daya simpan benih cabai pada genotipe tetua dan persilangan menggunakan metode pengusangan cepat methanol 20%. Setelah pengujian vigor daya simpan benih dilakukan analisis varian dan analisis regressi dan analisis statistik biometrik. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa genotipe cabai IPB C15 mempunyai nilai daya gabung umum yang tinggi untuk vigor daya simpan benih sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai tetua untuk perakitan varietas F1 hibrida vigor daya simpan benih tinggi. Kombinasi persilangan tetua IPB C2 x IPB C15 menghasilkan benih yang memiliki vigor daya simpan benih tinggi.</p><p>Kata kunci : cabai, daya gabung khusus, heterosis, koefisien genetik, vigor benih</p>

Abstract:
High genetic diversity in chili is the basis for a chili breeding program. One of the methods to increase diversity is through crossing. There are several crossing designs in order to produce new varieties, such as diallel crossing. Diallel analysis is a method for studying the inheritance of characteristics from various crossings. The aim of this research was to estimate the genetic parameters, the general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) of six inbred lines of chili. The research was conducted in November 2008-May 2009 at the Experimental Farm Leuwikopo IPB. Genetic materials used were six inbred lines of chili (IPB C2, IPB C9, IPB C10, IPB C14, IPB C15 and IPB C20) and the F1s of the combination of six inbred lines. The experimental design was Randomized Complete Block Design with a single factor, namely genotype. The number of genotypes were 36 with three replications, so there were 108 units of experiment. The crossing design used was diallel crossing design. The results showed that there were no interaction between genes on the dichotomous height and fruit weight, significant additive effects, the control genes spread unevenly, and relatively high heritability values. Genotype which carried recessive genes the most was IPB C14 and genotype which carried the most dominant genes was IPB C10. IPB C10 showed the highest GCA for dichotomous height and IPB C2 showed the highest GCA on fruit weight. The crossing between IPB C2 x IPB C10 showed the highest SCA for dichotomous height. For fruit weight, crossing of IPB C2x IPB C14 had the highest SCA. Crossing combination of IPB C2 x IPB C14 was the best hybrid.

Abstract:
<p>ABSTRACT</p><p>Commercial varieties of chili is still susceptible to anthracnose disease. Anthracnose is one of diseases which caused yield loss about 10-80% in rainy season and 2-35% in dry season. One of the disease control method is to develop new varieties resistant to anthracnose through gamma-ray irradiation. This research was aimed to determine radiosensitivity level and heritability of chili which generated by mutation inductions of three genotypes: IPB C2, IPB C10, and IPB C15. Seed of the three genotypes were irradiated by gamma rays at dosages of 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 and 1,000 Gy. The LD50 in IPB C2, IPB C10, and IPB C15 were 317.9, 591.4, and 538.8 Gy, respectively. The character of IPB C2 mutants ranged between very susceptible to resistant against anthracnose disease, IPB C10 tended to very susceptible to highly resistant, and genotype IPB C15 tended to susceptible to highly resistant. Genotype IPB C2 had high level in heritability for disease resistance character, while medium level in heritability value was obtained on genotype IPB C10 and IPB C15.</p><p>Keywords: genotype, LD50, mutant, mutation, seed</p>

Abstract:
Isotactic polybutylene-1 (iPB) has lots of advantages and is best used as hot water pipe. However, to transform into stable crystal form I, the iPB needs as long as 7 days. In this process, the irreversible damage brings great difficulties to the use of the iPB. The method which convert it directly into crystal I has shortcomings such as being requiring complex operation and being expensive. In this study, an innovative idea was put forward, not paying attention to the crystal transformation of iPB but only focusing on reducing the time it can be applied. In this study, bamboo powder was modified by the silane coupling agent KH570 (KBP) to prepare iPB/KBP composite. The infiltration test and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis showed that the hydrophilicity of KBP is greatly reduced, which can greatly improve the compatibility of the iPB and KBP. The tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural strength, and flexural modulus of the composites storage for 3 days is equal to the pure iPB with storage 7 days with the KBP additions of 3%, 3%, 7%, and 5%, respectively. The heat deformation temperature (HDT) of the composite with 3% KBP after 1-day storage reached the value of pure iPB storage for 7 days. This provides more space and possibilities for the industrialization of the iPB. The crystallization behavior of iPB/KBP composites proves that the addition of KBP accelerates the crystallization rate of iPB, but the crystallinity of the iPB/KBP composites is not changed. The SEM photograph of iPB/KBP composites showed that when the KBP addition was low the compatibility between KBP and iPB was good. When the KBP addition was increased the agglomeration of KBP in the iPB was very obvious, which leads to the poor mechanical properties of the composite.

<p><em>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh dari tipe-tipe media tumbuh pada semaian benih dan perkecambahan genotipe-genotipe benih pepaya IPB 3, IPB 4 dan IPB 9 serta mengetahui media pertumbuhan yang sesuai untuk pertumbuhan semaian pepaya yang baik dan memiliki bobot yang ringan dalam memudahkan pengangkutan. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret hingga September 2011 di rumah kaca FATETA IPB, Leuwikopo Bogor dan kebun percobaan PKBT IPB, Tajur Bogor. Penelitian terdiri dari 15 kombinasi dengan 3 ulangan sehingga ada 45 unit percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perkecambahan pepaya yang tertinggi pada media dengan campuran tanah, pupuk kandang dan arang sekam (M5) sebesar 70% dan genotipe IPB 3 (G1) sebesar 70.91%. This research used by descriptive analysis and Analysis Hierarchy Process (AHP) for analyzing internalization organization’s culture in Bogor Agricultural University. According to the survey, dept interview and literary analysis, the organization culture in IPB is including in power culture, person culture, and achievement culture. The application of organization’s culture in IPB is not maximal practice yet. The barrier of organization culture did not legitimate by Academic Senator, so the program that implementation organization culture is not yet. The factors that support organization culture in IPB is support from institution and human resource in IPB. The factor most influence in organization culture internalization in IPB is leadership. The actor most influence in organization culture internalization in IPB is head of university in IPB. The most influence objectives in organization culture internalization are actualization vision and mission organization. The alternative scenario in organization culture internalization is implementation learning organization in IPB.

<p>ABSTRACT</p><p>Center for Tropical Horticulture Studies (CTHS) have conducted melon breeding to meet the need of the expanding melon production in Indonesia. Four melon genotypes of IPB Meta 3, IPB Meta 4, IPB Meta 6, IPB Meta 8H exhibit superior performance during selection. Prior to release or to register, these melon genotypes need to be evaluated for their main characteristics. Four potential genotypes along with two control varieties of Action 434 and Sky Sweet were evaluated under a single factor Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications. The results revelaed that CTHS melon genotypes exhibited good performance. IPB Meta 4 has larger stem diameter and leaf size compared to Action 434 and Sky Sweet, subsequently flesh color of IPB Meta 3, IPB Meta 6, and IPB Meta 8H are oranges, where as both control varieties are green. Genetic information plays an important role in plant selection. This research was aimed to obtain genetic information on pattern inheritance of yield and yield component characters of two crosses population of birds chili. The research used biparental mating design consisted of 40 plants of parents population (P1 and P2), 40 plants of first generation (F1) and reciprocal (F1R) populations, 100 plants of backcross populations (BCP1 and BCP2), and 300 plants of second generation population (F2). Scaling test and joint scaling test indicated the presence of gene interaction (epistasis) in two crosses population. Estimates gene effect also showed that fruit weight character in crosses population of IPB C145 x IPB C174 was controlled by duplication epistasis, while yield per plant character in crosses population of IPB C145 x IPB C291 was controlled by complementary epistasis. All characters of both crosses populations had high broad sense heritability, but the characters in crosses population of IPB C145 x IPB C174 had medium to high narrow sense heritability, while the characters in crosses population of IPB C145 x IPB C291 had low to medium narrow sense heritability. Genetic difference between parents seemed to affect gene action of a character, in which yield per plant, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight, and fruit length characters in crosses population of IPB C145 x IPB C291 with small genetic difference were more controlled by the action of non additive gene than crosses population of IPB C145 x IPB C291 with large genetic difference.Keywords: epistasis, gene action, genetic difference, heritability, yield

Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) Mengetahui hubungan antara frekuensi kunjungan mahasiswa ke Perpustakaan IPB dengan IPK; (2) Mengetahui hubungan banyaknya buku Perpustakaan IPB yang dipinjam mahasiswa dengan IPK; (3) Mengetahui manfaat Perpustakaan IPB dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran dan penelitian mahasiswa; (4) Mengetahui peran pustakawan IPB dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran dan penelitian mahasiswanya; (5) Merumuskan strategi Perpustakaan IPB untuk meningkatkan manfaatnya terhadap proses pembelajaran dan penelitian mahasiswanya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif, menggunakan uji korelasi untuk melihat hubungan antara frekuensi kunjungan mahasiswa ke Perpustakaan IPB dan banyaknya buku Perpustakaan IPB yang dipinjam mahasiswa dengan IPK. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan metode survei dengan kuesioner disertai wawancara kepada tiga orang dosen IPB. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak ada korelasi antara frekuensi kunjungan mahasiswa ke perpustakaan dan banyaknya buku perpustakaan yang dipinjam dengan IPK mahasiswa. Namun demikian, persepsi mahasiswa terkait dukungan Perpustakaan IPB pada pembelajaran dan penelitian mereka sangat baik, rata-rata persentase responden yang setuju akan kemanfaatan perpustakaan dalam proses belajar dan penelitian mereka di atas 90 %. Persepsi responden terhadap dukungan pustakawan dalam membantu mahasiswa belajar sangat baik, namun untuk dukungan pustakawan pada penelitian mahasiswa dianggap kurang. Strategi peningkatan manfaat perpustakaan pada proses pembelajaran dan penelitian mahasiswa perlu disesuaikan dengan perilaku generasi milenial. Oleh karena itu disarankan Perpustakaan IPB segera mengimplementasikan konsep-konsep berbasiskan revolusi industri 4.0. Pustakawan IPB perlu ditingkatkan kompetensinya terkait keterampilan literasi informasi dan penguasaan pada teknologi informasi dan komunikasi.

<p>ABSTRACT</p><p>An experiment was conducted to study the germination and storability of papaya pollen IPB 6 and IPB 9 stored for 4 weeks at 3 levels of low temperature. The experiment was conducted at the Laboratory of Microtechnic and Laboratory of Biophysics and Reproductive Biology, Bogor Agricultural University in the month of April to June 2014. Three variables were observed in this experiment: the germination rate, pollen diameter, and length of pollen. The experimental results showed that storage temperature affected the three variables observed. The best germination for IPB 6 was indicated by pollen storage at 10 0C (23.1%) while for IPB 9 was indicated by pollen stored at 5 0C (30.7%). The longest pollen tube of IPB 6 after storage for 4 weeks was indicated by pollen stored at -20 0C (63 µm) while for IPB 9, indicated by pollen stored at 10 0C (47.72 µm). The experimental results showed that there was no corellation between pollen diameter and length of pollen tube with pollen germination in papaya pollen of IPB 6 dan IPB 9.</p><p>Key words: diameter pollen, pollen tube, germination, storability</p><p> </p><p>ABSTRAK</p><p>Percobaan dilakukan untuk mempelajari daya simpan dan daya berkecambah polen pepaya IPB 6 dan IPB 9 yang disimpan pada suhu 5 0C, 10 0C, dan -20 0C dengan waktu penyimpanan 0-4 minggu. Percobaan dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Mikroteknik dan Laboratorium Biofisik dan Biologi Reproduksi, Institut Pertanian Bogor pada bulan April-Juni 2014. Tiga variabel yang diamati pada percobaan ini adalah daya berkecambah, diameter polen dan panjang polen. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa suhu penyimpanan mempengaruhi ketiga variabel yang diamati. Daya berkecambah terbaik untuk pepaya IPB 6 ditunjukkan oleh polen yang disimpan pada 10 0C (23.1%)sedangkan untuk IPB 9 ditunjukkan oleh polen yang disimpan pada 5 0C (30.7%). Tabung Polen pepaya terpanjang setelah disimpan selama 4 minggu pada IPB 6 ditunjukkan oleh polen yang disimpan pada -20 0C (63 µm) sedangkan untuk IPB 9 ditunjukkan oleh polen yang disimpan pada 10 0C (47.72 µm). Maleic anhydride (MAH)–divinyl benzene (DVB) multi-monomer melt-grafting onto isotactic polybutene-1 (iPB-1) was carried out in a torque rheometer. The effects of dicumyl peroxide (DCP), MAH, and DVB concentrations, and temperature, on the reaction, were investigated. The optimized conditions were 170 °C, DVB/MAH = 4:6 (mass ratio). DVB as a comonomer enhanced the grafting degree (Gd) and grafting efficiency (Ge) of iPB-g-MAH better than styrene. The initiator DCP had little effect on Gd as its concentration over 0.2 phr, but the grafts’ melt flow rate (MFR) increased significantly, and relative molecular weight decreased remarkably with increased DCP concentration. With increasing Gd, the contact angle of grafts with water decreased, and there was a larger crystallization rate. The study of iPB-1 and iPB-g-MAH (Gd = 1.5%)-modified polyamide 6 (PA6) showed that iPB-g-MAH had an obviously toughening effect on PA6. With increasing iPB-g-MAH concentration, the blends of impact strength and elongation at break increased obviously, tensile strength decreased slightly, and MFR decreased prominently, which greatly slowed the processing degradation of PA6. The properties of iPB-1/PA6 blends deteriorated. Both DSC curves and SEM micrographs confirmed that PA6/iPB-g-MAH blends had much better compatibility than PA6/iPB. The reason was that the anhydride group in iPB-g-MAH reacted with amide group in PA6 to improve the compatibility between two phases, and iPB-g-MAH is an excellent modifier for PA6.

Isotactic poly (1-butene) (iPB) has excellent properties which are recognized as a green and energy saving product. However, the most stable and valuable crystal form I had a spontaneous transformation that took as long as seven days to complete. As a special solid waste, the herb residue (HR) is rich in cellulose which has great potential to accelerate the crystal transformation of the iPB. However, the polarity of HR results in the interface compatibility with non-polar iPB. In this study, the HR was modified by silane coupling agent (KH570) to obtain KHR and the iPB/HR composite was prepared. The FTIR spectrum was indicated that the organic functional groups of KH570 successfully graft onto the surface of HR and the water contact angle test was indicated that the hydrophilicity of the KHR was greatly decreased. The complete crystal transformation time is 7 days for iPB, 6 days for iPB+5% HR but only 3 days for iPB+5% KHR. The addition of the HR and KHR improve the thermal stability of the composite and this beneficial effect is more obvious for KHR. After annealing for 5 days, the physical properties value include tensile strength, flexural strength, and HDT of iPB+5% HR reach that of pure iPB after annealing for 7 days, but only 3 days for iPB+5% KHR. The TG analysis and SEM photographs give clear evidence that the beneficial effect of KH570 modified HR on improving the interface compatibility with iPB.

Percobaan dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari-Juni 2012 di Teaching Farm Tajur dan Laboratorium Pasca Panen Baranang Siang, PKHT-IPB -Bogor. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui karakter morfologi bunga, buah dan kualitas buah tiga genotipe pepaya hibrida, yaitu IPB H91, IPB H93 dan IPB H39. Parameter yang diamati yaitu karakter kualitatif dan kuantitatif bunga serta buah, uji kualitas fisik dan kimia buah, serta uji organoleptik. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan ketiga genotipe pepaya hibrida memiliki keunggulan karakter yang berbeda-beda. IPB H91 memiliki keunggulan tangkai bunga yang panjang serta jumlah bunga per buku dan buah yang banyak, bobot daging buah, persentase bagian yang dapat dimakan dan ketebalan daging buah yang besar, daging buah yang keras dan asam tertitrasi total yang rendah. IPB H93 memiliki keunggulan jumlah bunga yang banyak, jumlah biji per buah yang sedikit dan nilai padatan terlarut total yang tinggi. IPB H39 memiliki keunggulan jarak antar ruas bunga yang pendek, kulit buah yang keras dan kandungan vitamin C yang tinggi. Hasil uji organoleptik juga menunjukkan genotipe IPB H39 memiliki bentuk dan rasa yang lebih disukai oleh panelis. Genotipe IPB H91 dapat dijadikan alternatif untuk memperoleh pepaya hibrida karena memiliki banyak karakter unggul pada fase generatifnya daripada kedua genotipe lainnya.

We hypothesize that sweet potato genotypes can influence the bacterial communities related to phosphate mineralization and nitrogen fixation in the rhizosphere. Tuberous roots of field-grown sweet potato from genotypes IPB-149, IPB-052, and IPB-137 were sampled three and six months after planting. The total community DNA was extracted from the rhizosphere and analyzed by Polymerase Chain Reaction-Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) and quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR), based on the alkaline phosphatase coding gene (alp gene) and on the nitrogenase coding gene (nifH gene). The cluster analysis based on DGGE showed that plant age slightly influenced the bacterial community related to phosphate mineralization in the rhizosphere of IPB-137, although it did not affect the bacterial community related to nitrogen fixation. The statistical analysis of DGGE fingerprints (Permutation test, p ≤ 0.05) showed that nitrogen-fixing bacterial community of IPB-052 statistically differed from genotypes IPB-149 and IPB-137 after six months of planting. The bacterial community of IPB-137 rhizosphere analyzed by alp gene also showed significant differences when compared to IPB-149 in both sampling times (p ≤ 0.05). In addition, alp gene copy numbers significantly increased in abundance in the rhizosphere of IPB-137 after six months of planting. Therefore, plant genotype should be considered in the biofertilization of sweet potato.

Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Wawancara mendalam dilakukan kepada Kabid Humas IPB dan Ketua Bem IPB, observasi dan studi pustaka .Teori yang digunakan adalah Kontruksi Atas Realitas, teori Stakeholder, teori Relationship Management dan konsep Komunikasi Publik. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pihak IPB mengkonstruksi esensi dari PTNBH yaitu otonomi, keleluasaan dalam penyelenggaraan rumah tangganya untuk menghasilkan pendidikan yang bermutu, ke dalam program-program yang dapat mendukung kemajuan mahasiswa. IPB dapat membangun hubungan menejerial yang alamiah dengan mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa strategi komunikasi publik yang dilakukan lembaga dapat membentuk kesepahaman dalam upaya menjaga relasi yang saling menguntungkan antara pengelola atau menejemen IPB/PTNBH dengan mahasiswa. Method used is qualitative with case study approach. Deep interview is done with Public Relations Head of IPB and Head of BEM (Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa or Students Executive Board). In addition, this research involves observation and literature study. Theories used in this research are social construct of reality, stakeholder theory, relationship management, and public communication. Result shows that IPB has constructed the PTNBH’s essence of autonomy, freedom in managing its own administration of high quality education, programs in supporting students’ activities. IPB has the capabilities of developing a natural managerial connection with its students. The result also shows that public communication strategy implemented by institution would be able to create understanding and beneficial relationship between administrator/management of IPB and its students. The aim of this research was to study estimation general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability(SCA) of six bird pepper inbred lines (Capsicum annuum L.), heterosis and heterobeltiosis of fifteen bird pepper hybrids in half diallel crosses. The experiment were conducted from November 2013 to April 2014 using a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications at Leuwikopo University Farm, IPB. Analysis of GCA and SCA were based on the Griffing’s model of diallel design method II. Heterosis values were predicted based on the average values of their parents and heterobeltiosis were predicted based on the average values of the highest parents. Genotype IPB C174 had the highest GCA for fruit weight, fruit length, fruit width, and yield for each plant. Hybrid IPB C160 x IPB C291 and IPB C291 x IPB C293 had positive SCA, heterosis, and heterobeltiosis values for some variable observed. Hybrid IPB C174 x IPB C291 had better advantages than the commercial varieties which were Santika, Bhaskara, Sonar, and Nirmala on fruit weight characters.Keywords: bird pepper, combining ability, half diallel, heterosis

Inositol compounds with three to five phosphate groups (IP3–IP5) were produced by hydrolysis of phytate (inositol hexaphosphate, IP6) and their binding affinities for calcium and zinc investigated at neutral pH with relative concentrations that had been found in a range of students' meals. Zn solubility was negligible at many of these concentrations, with less Zn bound to precipitates of Ca-IP6 than Ca-IP5. The capacity to precipitate Zn at these ratios fell between IP5 and IP3. Zn was partially desorbed by soluble chelators (histidine and picolinate), especially when it had been adsorbed to preformed Ca-IP precipitates. A lower proportion of Zn was accessible to soluble chelators from Ca-IP4 than the other compounds. IP3-IP4 were hydrolysed. by phytase more readily than IP5–IP6.

The pepper is very important horticultural commodities. The purpose of this research was to study the advantagesof Anies IPB varieties and develop the description. Anies IPB was the result of the selection of segregating populations from the crosses of IPB C120 (as the female parent) and IPB C5 (as the male parent). The experiments were performed in four locations namely Boyolali (Central Java), Sumedang (West Java), and Bogor (West Java). The experimental used the randomized complete block design (RCBD) two factors with three replications. The replications nested within the locations. The first factor was 9 lines and 2 open pollinated varieties, and the second factor was the three locations. Each lines on each replicate in each location were planted 24 plants. The results showed that the superiority of Anies IPB varieties were (1) The productivity of Anies IPB was higher than the check varieties. Productivity can reach 18.6 tons ha-1. (2) Anies IPB has fruit that was longer than the Tit Super and Trisula. (3) Anies IPB has early-harvesting time, ranged between 76.67 - 84.67 days after planting. <p>The research aimed to identify the level of intention and analyze the influence of personality, motivation, brand image, and environment on intention of the top 15 grade of 11 Science students from 14 high schools in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi to choose IPB and its managerial implications. Questionnaire with Likert scale was used as a method in collecting data. Descriptive and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used in analyzing data. The results showed that one of three students intended to apply to IPB as a sequence of first choice and second choice. Brand image and motivation significantly influenced the students’ intention in choosing IPB. Environment and personality did not influence the intention. Environment significantly influenced brand image and students’ motivation. Personality did not influence the motivation, brand image, and intention. Abstract The nonisothermal crystallization behaviors of virgin isotactic polybutene-1 (iPB-1) and iPBn (iPB-1 containing a nucleating agent that owns acid amides structure; iPB/Mult920=100/0.5, mass ratio) were studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Modified Avrami theories (Ozawa method) and Mo method were used to analyze the DSC date. The results show that both methods are suitable to describe the crystallization process of iPB-1 and iPBn. Addition of 0.5% (mass ratio) nucleating agent can give rise to the nucleation effect, which increases the crystallization temperature (Tc) and the rate of crystallization of iPB-1, decreases the activation energy of crystallization (ΔE), and increases the crystallization rate of iPB-1 under the actual conditions.

<p class="Default">This study aims to analyze the internal and external factors that influence the development of SB-IPB, analyze SB-IPB strategic foresight and designing SB-IPB strategic architecture. This research is a descriptive research in the form of a case study. Respondents in this study are experts from inside and outside of IPB who are policy makers, alumni users, competitors, and alumni. Based on the internal environment analysis, it is found that SB-IPB internal resource advantages will still have the quality of competitive parity, the curriculum will have a temporary competitive advantage, and the reputation will have a sustained competitive advantage. In the external environment analysis, it is indicated that changes in the external environment provides great opportunities to the development of SB-IPB. Important issues that affect the development of SB-IPB in the future will be institutional change, change of mindset in the curriculum, internationalization, and changes in the business world. Five focus strategies will be compiled in 2015 until 2019, they are: development and strengthening of the institution and the curriculum in the first year, strengthening in networking and benchmarking in the second year, internationalization in the third year, and strengthening SB-IPB excellence in the fourth year to achieve its goal to be a first class business school in the fifth year. </p>

IPB-D1 is a chicken cross between male F1 PS (PelungxSentul) with F1 female (Kampung x parent stock cobb). The establishment of chicken IPB-D1 aims to produce commercial meat type local chicken with semi-intensive maintenance management. The aim of this research to observe study assesses the performance of egg production and the quality of IPB D-1 chicken eggs and estimates the value of repeatability of production and haugh units of IPB D-1 chicken eggs. The chicken was observed as many as 30 hens IPB D-1 G7 aged 24-36 weeks and eggs as many as 288 eggs. The production and egg quality data were analyzed descriptively and the repeatability values were analyzed with Anova. Egg weight 40 g, Haugh unit value 87 (Very good), egg production 49.22%. The repeatability value of egg production is 0.2 (Moderate) and the repeatability value of the haugh unit is 0.31 (Medium). IPB D-1 Chicken has the potential to be a good dual-purpose chicken.

We previously reported the genes encoding the first three enzymes of the IPB-degradative pathway (ipbA1,ipbA2, ipbA3, ipbA4,ipbB, and ipbC) and identified the initial IPB dioxygenase (IpbA1A2A3A4) as responsible for TCE cooxidation (U. Pflugmacher, B. Averhoff, and G. Gottschalk, Appl. Environ. Microbiol. 62:3967–3977, 1996). Primer extension analyses revealed multiple transcriptional start points located upstream of the translational initiation codon of ipbA1. The transcription from these start sites was found to be IPB dependent. Thirty-one base pairs upstream of the first transcriptional start point tandemly repeated DNA sequences overlapping the −35 region of a putative ς70 promoter were found. These repeats exhibit significant sequence similarity to the operator-promoter region of thexyl meta operon in Pseudomonas putida, which is required for the binding of XylS, a regulatory protein of the XylS (also called AraC) family. These similarities suggest that the transcription of the IPB dioxygenase genes is modulated by a regulatory protein of the XylS/AraC family. The construction of an ipbDNA module devoid of this ipb operator-promoter region and the stable insertion of this DNA module into the genomes of differentPseudomonas strains resulted in pseudomonads with constitutive IPB and TCE oxidation activities. Constitutive TCE oxidation of two such Pseudomonas hybrid strains, JR1A::ipb and CBS-3::ipb, was found to be stable for more than 120 generations in antibiotic-free medium. Evaluation of constitutive TCE degradation rates revealed that continuous cultivation of strain JR1A::ipbresulted in a significant increase in rates of TCE degradation.

Social interaction determines the development of a social change. The existence of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) with various activities considered to provide significant social changes in the surrounding villages, it is interesting to observe the dynamics of social change that occurred in Cikarawang. The existence of IPB in Dramaga Bogor for more than a decade is believed to have an impact and influence on people in Cikarawang village. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the social changes in Cikarawang village in relation to the presence and activity of IPB? How can communication conflict cause social change in Cikarawang village? The method used is qualitative approach. Data collection by observation, interview and documentation study. The results showed that for the community of Cikarawang village, the existence of IPB gave positive contribution especially on the aspect of labor, as well as agricultural and fishery extension. However, from the aspect of formal education, the villagers of Cikarawang who are studying in IPB are still very few. In addition, some campus policies intersect directly with the interests of Cikarawang villagers causing conflict. Through negotiation and mediation, conflict generates social change in the region. Eksistensi IPB di Dramaga Bogor selama lebih dari satu dekade diyakini memberikan dampak dan pengaruh terhadap masyarakat di desa Cikarawang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis bagaimana gambaran perubahan sosial yang terjadi di desa Cikarawang atas kehadiran dan aktivitas kampus IPB? Bagaimana konflik komunikasi dapat menimbulkan perubahan sosial di desa Cikarawang? Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dengan observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bagi masyarakat desa Cikarawang, keberadaan IPB memberikan kontribusi positif terutama pada aspek tenaga kerja, serta penyuluhan pertanian dan perikanan. Namun demikian, dari aspek pendidikan formal, warga desa Cikarawang yang menjadi mahasiswa di IPB masih sangat minim. Selain itu, beberapa kebijakan kampus bersinggungan langsung dengan kepentingan warga desa Cikarawang sehingga menimbulkan konflik. Abstract:
The aim of this study was to examine semen characteristics of IPB-D1 roosters. A total of 15 IPB-D1 roosters were used in this study, healthy, aged between 6 to 9 months, body weight between 1.2-2.0 kg and placed in individual cages 50 cm × 50 cm × 90 cm. Semen were collected using massage techniques on the back and cloaca rooster. Before collection, cloaca is cleaned using tissue that has been moistened with physiological NaCl solution. The evaluation parameters of semen are macroscopically including volume, color, consistency and pH and microscopic include mass movements, spermatozoa motility (%), spermatozoa morphology (%), concentration and number of spermatozoa per ejaculate. The results showed the semen volume of IPB-D1 was 0.10 ± 0.07 mL, milky white in colour, moderate and dense in concistency and pH 6.97 ± 0.27, Microscopic characteristics of IPB-D1 roosters showed mass spermatozoa movement of 2.73 ± 0.46, spermatozoa motility and concentration were 75.00 ± 6.27% and 3257.50 ± 1303.141×106/mL respectively. It was concluded that IPB-D1 roosters produced good semen quality.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik sivitas IPB terkait keputusan penggunaan software berlisensi, menganalisis respon sivitas IPB terhadap program promosi IMOVSES, serta menganalisis efektivitas penganggaran biaya program promosi IMOVSES. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik sivitas IPB adalah chi square, untuk menganalisis respon sivitas digunakan EPIC Model dan Direct Rating Method, sedangkan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penganggaran promosi digunakan analisis regresi. EPIC Rate yang dihasilkan adalah sebesar 3,15, yang menunjukkan bahwa promosi berada pada rentang cukup efektif. Nilai direct rating (ǧ) diperoleh sebesar 64,14, yang menunjukkan bahwa promosi masuk dalam kategori baik. Persamaan regresi yang diperoleh adalah “Jumlah sivitas = 27,2+0,000027 Biaya promosi” yang menunjukan bahwa apabila biaya promosi ditambah sebesar Rp100.000,- akan menambah jumlah sivitas sebanyak 3 orang. Dibutuhkan setidaknya biaya sebesar Rp127.300.000,- untuk menjadikan program promosi efektif secara penjualan.

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidetifikasi dan menganalisis hubungan antara karakteristik anggota, karakteristik kelompok, dukungan kelembagaan, kepemimpinan FP4L, kohesivitas kelompok, dan adopsi teknologi IPB Prima. Penelitian ini menggunakan 30 orang anggota KEP Mekar Kesuma Tani yang dijadikan sampel. Analisis hubungan menggunakan korelasi rank Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kohesivitas kelompok adalah kepemimpinan F4PL dan frekuensi pertemuan kelompok dan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan adopsi teknologi IPB Prima di antaranya adalah karakteristik anggota, dukungan kelembagaan, kepemimpinan FP4L, dan ketertarikan terhadap fungsi dan kegiatan kelompok. A key element in phage therapy is the establishment of large phage collections, termed herein “banks”, where many well-characterized phages, ready to be used in the clinic, are stored. These phage banks serve for both research and clinical purposes. Phage banks are also a key element in clinical phage microbiology, the prior treatment matching of phages and antibiotics to specific bacterial targets. A worldwide network of phage banks can promote a phage-based solution for any isolated bacteria. Herein, we describe the Israeli Phage Bank (IPB) established in the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, which currently has over 300 phages matching 16 bacteria, mainly pathogens. The phage bank is constantly isolating new phages and developing methods for phage isolation and characterization. The information on the phages and bacteria stored in the bank is available online.

The aim this study to improve description characters in Ayesha IPB variety, both qualitative and quantitative characters. The testers are 4 released varieties and 5 the other genotypes in randomized complete block design for 4 replication in green house at Leuwikopo field reserch in Darmaga, Bogor. Ayesha IPB variety showed early flower in 13-16 days after planting, harvesting for commercial bucket in 65-70 days after planting, medium plant high that is 25.218 cm, medium canopy width that is 46-53 cm, good performance in canopy, round shape on fuit tip, various fuit colors that are yellow green for young fruit, orange for intermediate fuit and orange red for mature of fruit. Those description characters could be ornamental chili for Ayesha, so it is important to protect the plant for ornamental plant commercialization.Key word : fruit, color, red, round, orange, ornamental

Purpose To get a calculation of the effectiveness of bus services outside the Dramaga IPB route Jl.Raya Sukasari, Jl.Raya KH Sholeh Iskandar and Jalan Pancasan ciapus in the year Conducting an analysis of the effectiveness of off-campus bus services in Dramaga IPB using the Likert scale method. The limitation of this research problem includes security , safety, comfort, affordability, equality and order. The method used in this study is the linkert scale. Based on the results of the discussion with the Likert scale method the results obtained in the form of a presentation score answer variable bus transportation services outside the campus Dramaga IPB of 67.87% and included in the class interval 60% -79.99% which means it is included in the Good category.</p>

Ayam IPB-D1 merupakan jenis ayam lokal dari hasil persilangan antara jantan F1 PS (Pelung x Sentul) dengan betina F1 (Kampung x Ras pedaging paren stock Cobb). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi performa, kualitas semen, dan freezability spermatozoa ayam IPB-D1 pada konsentrasi Immunoglobulin Yolk (IgY) berbeda. Materi yang digunakan yaitu ayam IPB-D1 jantan sebanyak 20 ekor, terdiri atas 10 ekor ayam dengan konsentrasi IgY rendah dan 10 ekor IgY tinggi dengan ayam umur 8 bulan. Variabel yang diamati yaitu performa yakni konsumsi pakan, pertambahan berat badan, morbiditas dan mortalitas, kualitas semen segar dan kualitas semen beku (freezability). Data dianalis menggunakan uji-t menggunakan program SAS dengan membandingkan antara konsentrasi IgY tinggi dan IgY rendah. Hasil analisis performa ayam IPB-D1 tidak berbeda (P>0.05) terhadap IgY yang berbeda. Hasil kualitas semen menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap konsistensi semen dan motilitas, viabilitas, konsentrasi serta konsentrasi spermatozoa per ejakulat. Ayam IPB D-1 pada dua konsentrasi IgY tidak berbeda nyata (P>0.05) terhadap motilitas semen segar dan recovary rate, namun Ayam IPB D-1 dengan konsentrasi IgY tinggi memiliki motilitas spermatozoa pasca thawing lebih baik daripada (P<0.05) Ayam dengan konsentrasi IgY yang rendah.

Study on the effect of heterosis is important in order to find potential parent for creating a new superior variety. This research was aimed to study the phenotipic expression of F1 and heterosis on agronomics characters some crossed red rice. Experiment was done at a paddy field in Nyurlembang, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara during August–November 2016, and it was arranged in a randomized block design of 12 genotypes as treatment with five replications. Genotypes evaluated were Fatmawati, IPB3S, G9(F2BC4P19-36), F1-Fatmawati/Inpago Unram-I, F1-Fatmawati/G9, F1-IPB 3S/Inpago Unram-I, F1-IPB 3S/G9, F1-Inpago Unram-I/Fatmawati, F1-G9/Fatmawati, F1-Inpago Unram-I/IPB 3S, and F1-G9/IPB 3S. The results showed that based on the F1 phenotipic performances and heterosis on grain weight per hills, yield, 1000 grain weight, number of grain per panicle, length of panicle, number of productive tiller per hill, and time of flowering, there were three genotypes that had a semi ideal type of red rice with high yield potential. Pertanian merupakan sektor utama ekonomi masyarakat di Kecamatan Panyabungan Barat Kabupaten Mandailing Natal Provinsi Sumatera Utara, salah satu yang lagi populer dikalangan petani saat ini adalah usaha budidaya pepaya calina IPB 9. Pada umumnya para petani belum pernah melakukan analisa Keuntungan dari usaha budidaya pepaya calina IPB 9, mereka hanya mendengar dan melihat hasil dari petani yang terlebih dahulu melakukan usaha budidaya pepaya calina IPB 9 tanpa ada analisa perhitungan keuntungan langsung mengikuti jejak petani tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keuntungan usaha budidaya pepaya calina IPB 9 di Kecamatan Panyabungan Barat, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. Metode penentuan daerah penelitian ini dilakukan secara sengaja atau metode purposive. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode sensus yaitu mengamati individu dari suatu populasi, atau pengamatan keseluruhan dengan populasi sebanyak 22 Petani secara keseluruhan petani dijadikan responden. Dari hasil penelitian didapat rata-rata modal usaha budidaya pepaya calina IPB 9 per hektar dengan hasil panen yang didapat selama 1 priode (36 bulan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam 11 bulan sudah Break Even Point (BEP) dan pay back priode didapat pada saat tanaman berumur 13 bulan dengan nilai R/C Ratio sebesar 1,57. Dengan demikian untuk masa sekarang ini usaha budidaya pepaya calina IPB 9 di Kecamatan Panyabungan Barat masih menguntungkan.
