Abstract:
The problem of joint optimization of inventory and transportation in agricultural logistics and distribution is a typical logistics problem, but agricultural logistics and distribution also have their own characteristics, such as uneven distribution of outlets, complex road conditions, very many outlets, a single order with few goods but high frequency of ordering, centralized distribution, and unified channels. To promote the sustainable development of the economy, it is necessary to save energy and reduce emissions, and eventually enter a new era of “low consumption, low pollution, and low emissions.” Modern logistics vehicle-scheduling process is complex and changeable, and the existing mathematical methods are not perfect in solving this problem, lacking scientific theory as a guide. The joint optimization problem introduces the inventory change factor on the basis of periodic vehicle path optimization and optimizes the inventory decision and path planning in an integrated manner. As a system to support the logistics industry, the visualized logistics information system is capable of video viewing and querying logistics information. In order to reduce gas emissions and save costs, it is necessary to optimize the transportation link, and the focus of optimization is the route optimization of distribution vehicles. Ant colony algorithm (ACA) is an emerging search and optimization technique, which emerged from the research of ACA. In this study, we study the joint optimization and visualization of inventory transportation in agricultural logistics based on ACA. In addition, the experimental results show that the inventory cost/total cost of improved ACA is 0.006 when the unit mileage transportation cost is 10, and the IBM ILOG CPLEX is 0.031, which is reduced by 0.0025, that is to say, in the case of high inventory cost per unit product, the use of improved ACA can lead to a significant reduction in inventory costs. Therefore, it can realize the whole process of control, traceability, and dynamic optimization to ensure the timeliness of emergency finished food security and provide real-time information for decision-making in command as well.

Abstract:
In view of typical many-one distribution network in the modern distribution logistics system, the mathematic model on the inventory-transportation integrated optimization problem with stochastic demand and diversified products was established by using a bi-level programming method. Both decisions of inventory control and transportation arrangement were made at the same time. An improved heuristic algorithm was proposed to divide the integration problem into both problems of the inventory and the transportation: the cost were distributed by the former according to different products and the optimized cost was sought out by the latter according to different periods, thus the inventory-transportation integrated optimization problem was solved through the repeated iteration between the former and the latter. The mathematic description and the heuristic algorithm to the massive practice of the modern distribution logistics system are realized.

Abstract:
Currently, there is still a strong trend in research and in the market connected with the role of 3PL (third-party logistics) companies and the trend of developing and creating coordination in logistics networks. The most important issue for the following paper is the examination of the 3PL enterprise, which is able to create the demand forecasts to gain the functions of logistics coordination in the fields of inventory management and transportation planning. This research paper focuses on showing the demand forecasting tool results for 29 chosen distribution networks (in this paper, the traditional forecasting methods were used based on time series exponential smoothing, ARIMA, machine learning and neural-network-based methods, created in the R programming environment). In the next steps, the forecasting results were compared in the conditions of transportation planning and inventory management (in the conditions of “future” dynamic ABC analysis). The forecasting function supports the inventory management and transportation planning activity of 3PL as a key element of logistics coordination in distribution networks. The proper way to transfer the results of forecasting to an ABC analysis and transportation planning concept is to create a cloud-based system supported by data from the WMS (warehouse management system), while providing the possibility of results visualization by using some BI (business intelligence) solutions or different tools to create managerial information dashboards. Currently, one of the most efficient models connected with logistics coordination is the centralized network with 3PL responsible for planning and executing logistics processes with the creation of additional value. As such, 3PL is able to create a similar forecast for different types of DN and with different aggregations (per SKU or per recipient). It could support coordination in DN from the point of view of inventory management and transportation planning.

Abstract:
This paper presented a formal analysis for the alternative of logistics centralization and decentralization policy in a two-echelon distribution system. First, functions of transportation and inventory costs under different policies in the system were developed. Second, the differences between transportation and inventory costs were compared, and the relationship between transportation and inventory cost difference was analyzed through a balance ratio. At last, some indicators were derived to measure the level of demand uncertainty, the amount of retailers and the size of customer orders. It shows that the optimal logistics policy can be determined as a tradeoff between transportation and inventory costs. And the indicators can provide a basis for selecting the optimal logistics policy.

Abstract:
Inventory ensures stability of the production technical system. Production facilities have warehouses for workpieces to create final output parts, and warehouses for finished products to meet customer demand. Stocks of workpieces avoid manufacturing downtime. Stocks of finished products make it possible to meet demand in a timely manner and avoid penalties for late deliveries of finished products to consumers. On the other hand, the objects that make up the inventory are «dead» material resources that do not bring profit and negatively affect economic efficiency and competitiveness. According to published data, in economically developed countries, such as the USA, Japan, Germany and others, up to 30–40 % of production is in stocks. All this indicates the relevance of the issue of optimising the level of reserves, of solving the problem of establishing and maintaining the optimal level of the stock, its timely replenishment, considering time required for execution of applications of end users. The objective of the work is to propose a solution to a stochastic logistic problem of inventory management with a random time delay and random demand, obtained by the authors using the methods of mathematical statistics, mathematical modelling, and production logistics for unknown and arbitrary form of distribution functions of demand and time delay. The work provides specific examples of approaches to implementation of suggested solution.

Abstract:
One of the main directions of logistic support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is medical support which is aimed at life safeguard and health of military personnel, well-timed and efficient provision of medical care in the event of injuries, injuries and diseases, fast renewal of combat power and ability to work in different conditions of its handling and at different period of time. The readiness of medical service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the medical support of the troops depends on the well-timed organization of medical supplies and the refilling of medical supplies full and complete. The qualitative and efficient allocation of medical equipment and medical supplies is a determining factor in this process. The aim of the work – reasoning of the irregularity of distribution logistics in the unified logistic system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the study of the main aspects of management of the distribution of medical supplies from the position of military pharmaceutical logistics. To get the purpose of the research, the analysis of domestic scientific sources and the current normative and legal base of Ukraine have been carried out. Research methods are: information search, comparison, systemization, semantic analysis, synthesis and modeling. In the conditions of logistic support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the security and defense forces of Ukraine, the logistic function of the distribution of logistical equipment, inventory, military equipment and services (food, bath and laundry services, etc.) should ensure the activity of troops (forces) in peacetime and war time. It is the guarantee of the ability to ensure the defense of the state and appropriate response to military threats to the national security of Ukraine, efficiently using available potential and resources. Distribution logistics from the position of military pharmaceutical logistics is the management of all functional subsystems of the medical supplies and health services of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in order to optimize the distribution of the material flow (purchased medical supplies) from the supplier to the final consumer (according to the applications of the Military Medical Clinical Centers of the Regions). Same, distributive logistics in the structure of a unified logistic support system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not carry a commercial component, and its functions consist in planning, organization of distribution, control and regulation of the logistic process of distribution of material and technical means (including medical equipment and supplies), inventory, military equipment, services (catering, bath and laundry service, etc.). According to the authors, the term «marketing logistics» is not possible to use as a single system of logistic support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in its subsystems. To sum it up, it was suggested to use the term «distributive logistics». On the basis of theoretical generalization of the data of scientific literature and normative legal acts, the main aspects of management of the distribution of medical equipment and supplies from the standpoint of military pharmaceutical logistics are studied. The functions of distributive logistics are defined, the model of the current logistic chain of distribution of medical equipment and supplies in the medical service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is constructed. It is noted that in order to ensure the qualitative and efficient distribution of medical equipment and supplies, a regulatory and legal framework which regulates the division of powers between institutions and units of medical supplies and defines the responsibility for their implementation in the current conditions of the reformation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Abstract:
With the popularization and application of emerging Internet technologies such as big data and cloud computing, the traditional B2B and B2C warehousing logistics management modes have not achieved synergy between various distribution stations and suppliers, achieving “one-to-one” means a distribution station is supplied by a manufacturer, and a customer is also supplied by a distribution station. The traditional logistics industry model can no longer meet the individual needs of customers. At present, the logistics industry has a series of problems such as slow delivery, slow turnover, high cost and poor service. Based on the theoretical basis of pipeline network and smart logistics, this paper proposes a pipeline network model of intelligent logistics, and improves the ant colony algorithm to improve transportation efficiency, which provides a guarantee for the efficient operation of the intelligent logistics platform.

Abstract:
Logistics network includes regional logistics network and urban logistics network. In this paper, the urban logistics network is taken as the research object. With the improvement of the consumption level of the residents, the attention to quality has become an important reference standard for consumers to choose e-commerce, which makes the electric business shift from "price war" to "service war". Compared with past purchases in physical stores, most consumers prefer to choose convenient and fast online shopping. As a result, the size of the online shopping market has increased rapidly. According to statistics, the growth rate of the online shopping market in the past five years is over 100%, and the growth rate will slow down in the next few years, but it will still maintain steady growth. The importance of logistics for an e-business enterprise is obvious. The improvement and perfection of logistics distribution network is imminent. Scholars at home and abroad have studied this aspect for a long time. This research is based on the optimization of ecommerce logistics distribution network. By summing up the ideas and solutions proposed by researchers at home and abroad for this problem, and combining with the actual situation, a method of optimizing the B2C e-commerce logistics distribution network is designed. Considering the special traffic situation and the actual order demand in the city, the distribution area division, the distribution site stratification, the vehicle routing optimization and the logistics network optimization model are set up, and a combination of various methods is used to solve the problem.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to manage the demand uncertainty considered as lower and upper levels for a medium-scale industrial distribution planning problem in a biobjective inventory routing problem (IRP). In order to achieve this, the grey system theory is applied since no statistical distribution from the past data and incomplete information.Design/methodology/approachThis study is investigated with optimizing the distribution plan, which involves 30 customers of 12 periods in a manufacturing company under demand uncertainty that is considered as lower and upper levels for a biobjective IRP with using grey demand parameters as a grey integer programming model. In the data set, there are also some missing demand values for the customers. So, the seven different grey models are developed to eliminat the effects on demand uncertainties in computational analysis using a piece of developed software considering the logistical performance indicators such as total deliveries, total cost, the total number of tours, distribution capacity, average remaining capacity and solution time.FindingsResults show that comparing the grey models, the cost per unit and the maximum number of vehicle parameters are also calculated as the new key performance indicator, and then results were ranked and evaluated in detail. Another important finding is the demand uncertainties can be managed with a new approach via logistics performance indicators using alternative solutions.Practical implicationsThe results enable logistics managers to understand the importance of demand uncertainties if more reliable decisions are wanted to make with obtaining a proper distribution plan for effective use of their expectations about the success factors in logistics management.Originality/valueThe study is the first in terms of the application of grey models in a biobjective IRP with using interval grey demand data. Successful implementation of the grey approaches allows obtaining a more reliable distribution plan. In addition, this paper also offers a new key performance indicator for the final decision.

Abstract:
One of the basic problems of sustainability in modern society is the reduction of waste, particularly when it comes to food. Food waste has negative impacts on different dimensions of sustainability: social (hunger), economic (resource costs), and environmental (resource consumption and waste generation). This paper focuses on waste reduction through improving the inventory management system in the dairy distribution chain by the application of modern information and communication technologies (ICT). The approach is tested and verified in a case study by application of simulation modelling. Two inventory management models are created, and their impact on waste in the distribution part of the supply chain is examined. Model 1 represents the current dairy inventory management system in the supply of retail stores. Model 2 is based on a higher level of information connectivity between participants (RFID product labelling and the appropriate level of information technology), enabling automatic product ordering and changes in inventory management policy. The obtained results confirm that coordinated inventory management, supported by the application of modern ICT, can significantly contribute to the improvement of the sustainability of the food supply chain, and provide an exact quantification of the given contribution in the case of the dairy industry.

Abstract:
Compared with the ordinary merchant ship building, the concentralized distribution in cruise building is more complex. Plan change is a common phenomenon in cruise building, and it is easy to lead to mismatch between production and logistics, resulting in risks such as production schedule delay and inventory backlog. In order to reduce the adverse effects of plan change on the shipyard, it is necessary to conduct an in-depth study on the risks of a centralized distribution logistics plan. Based on the analysis of the composition of the centralized distribution logistics planning system, risk factors in different plan links are identified in this paper. A system dynamic model is constructed to simulate the propagation of five basic types of planning risk, including procurement plan, warehousing plan, pallet concentralization plan, distribution plan and production plan. In the case study of HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) materials, the values of risk factors are estimated though consulting experts with questionnaire. The weight of each risk factor in each subsystem is calculated by a method combined with analytic hierarchy process and coefficient of variation method. Through the simulation experiments carried out in Vensim, it is found that both inventory backlog risk and cruise construction schedule delay risk increase with the increasement of estimated values of risk factors, which is an effective proof of the rationality of the model, and that the most sensitive risk factor for both the two kinds of risk is production planning risk.

The author developed a model (using an electronic spreadsheet) in order to calculate the economical efficiency in the micro and macro dimensions in order to find the distances on which distribution using one central warehouse is more profitable than decentralized distribution. The results of the simulations show that the strategy of centralized inventories can be in many cases an economically effective strategy although not for deliveries on very long distance. The results confirm that the benefits of centralization are lower inventories, although the simulations do not confirm the applicability of the square root law to calculate the level of inventories. However, they confirm a positive impact on the level of logistic customer service, measured by the availability of stocks. Better service is probably the main benefit of this strategy. In order to investigate the impact of individual parameters on the total costs of logistics processes 1300 simulations were carried out for various cases: The volume of annual sales, fluctuations in demand, the value of distributed goods, the number of warehouses in a decentralized system and the width of the product range, costs of warehousing, and maintaining stocks, and the distance of transport and in deliveries to customers.

Abstract:
Consignment sales are a special case of supply chains, as the products are never the property of the seller, so the distribution logistics network and the logic of the structure of the products are radically different from those of normal supply chains. Another problem is that the products have a shelf life. The inventory mechanism (qmin; qmax) is most often used for the commissioned stocks of companies producing food supplements and when checking the central inventory, i.e. replenishment to the maximum stock level when a certain stock level is reached. There are several factors to consider when filling up commission stocks and reviewing them by period. With the mathematical correlations of these factors, it is possible to distribute the commissioned finished products optimally. The paper deals with this problem.

The hospital are the places of business that produce services, so that the logistic of hospital is not the logistics of goods distribution, but it is only about material goods inventory management and equipment needed to produce those services. The most aplicable inventory services for hospital are the ABC classification model.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a decision support system to consider geographic information, logistics information and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission information to solve the proposed green inventory routing problem (GIRP) for a specific Taiwan publishing logistics firm. Design/methodology/approach A GIRP mathematical model is first constructed to help this specific publishing logistics firm to approximate to the optimal distribution system design. Next, two modified Heuristic-Tabu combination methods that combine savings approach, 2-opt and 1-1 λ-interchange heuristic approach with two modified Tabu search methods are developed to determine the optimum solution. Findings Several examples are given to illustrate the optimum total inventory routing cost, the optimum delivery routes, the economic order quantities, the optimum service levels, the reorder points, the optimum common review interval and the optimum maximum inventory levels of all convenience stores in these designed routes. Sensitivity analyses are conducted based on the parameters including truck loading capacity, inventory carrying cost percentages, unit shortage costs, unit ordering costs and unit transport costs to support optimal distribution system design regarding the total inventory routing cost and GHG emission level. Originality/value The most important finding is that GIRP model with reordering point inventory control policy should be applied for the first replenishment and delivery run and GIRP model with periodic review inventory control policy should be conducted for the remaining replenishment and delivery runs based on overall simulation results. The other very important finding concerning the global warming issue can help decision makers of GIRP distribution system to select the appropriate type of truck to deliver products to all retail stores located in the planned optimal delivery routes depending on GHG emission consumptions.

Abstract The carried out studies show that from the point of view of the issue of efficiency increase of logistical systems, there are several key aspects. Firstly, choice of methods for managing the triad of logistics functions ‘inventory management - warehousing – transportation’, where the inventory management issues are considered as the most relevant ones. Secondly, there is recognized the need to move the studies of multi-level systems within the framework of the concept of supply chain management. Nowadays, supply chains, which are represented by the distribution system, are widespread in practice. The most common of them are two-level ones with a central supplier at the second level and a certain number of companies at the first level; and multi-level systems of the distribution configuration network in which multi-nomenclature stocks are located. The article is devoted to the design and enhancement of analytical platform for inventory management in such distribution systems.

Abstract This article proposes a model of systems dynamics for the analysis and study of physical flows in a distribution logistics chain. The proposed model is a decision support tool that allows testing several scenarios in order to study the behavior of physical flows within a supply chain depending on the inventory and transport costs and taking into consideration the environmental issues through the integration of a CO2 tax in transport costs. The developed model can be used to analyze various scenarios and perform various “what-if” analyzes, as well as to answer questions about the long-term operation of distribution chains. The results show that logistic decisions and strategies taken at the supply chain level influence inventory and transport costs. They show also that the model is a well decision-support tool for calculating and analyzing transport and inventory costs. We first expose the methodology and the literature review. Next, we present in detail the structure of the model consisting of the causal loops diagram and stock and flow diagram. Finally, we discuss the results of the model.

In order to study the special production, distribution, transportation, and sales of short-lived and short-lived multimedia products, this paper studies the cost and benefit optimization of a three-level supply chain network consisting of a supplier-producer-distribution center. Simultaneously, to effectively describe the actual inventory level of the retailer’s multimedia products, this paper introduces a new nonlinear function to define the real-time inventory of multimedia products to establish a biobjective nonlinear mixed-integer programming model to estimate the inventory. The research results show that the model established in this paper can not only provide the overall cost and optimal decision-making plan for the short-lived dairy supply chain but also the design method is better than the standard constraint method. Relevant research results have important potential guiding significance for research and design of supply chain network structure, measurement of multimedia product inventory levels, and improvement of customer satisfaction. Abstract:
In order to better manage the supplier’s inventory and formulate a reasonable distribution plan, based on the existing research, taking the two-level supply chain system composed of one supplier and multiple retailers as the research object and VMI mode as the background, this paper studies the inventory path optimization problem with the goal of minimizing the total cost in the planning period. Taking the retailer’s inventory capacity and vehicle capacity constraints as constraints, this method constructs a mixed integer programming model with random demand in multiple cycles and the goal of minimizing the total cost in the planning period. When building the model, the distribution cost is refined. In addition to identifying shipping-related start-up costs and travel costs, processing costs are associated with additional delivery time, which is close to reality. In the algorithm design, the genetic algorithm is combined with the C–W algorithm, a similar hybrid genetic algorithm is used to solve the model, and the sample model is used for estimation; that is, the expected value of the random sample is taken, which is used as the target value for each chromosome. In addition, when optimizing roads, the C–W algorithm is used to divide vehicle capacity according to truck capacity as much as possible, thereby reducing the number of vehicles used and saving the overall total cost of preparation time for certain projects. Facts have proved that the optimized and improved inventory path is more conducive to help enterprises reduce logistics costs and provide theoretical support for enterprise management decisions.

Abstract:
Reasonable logistics distribution network structure can not only effectively reduce the cost of logistics enterprises themselves but also reduce the social cost. Through effective supply chain management, enterprises can significantly reduce costs, improve competitiveness, and enhance their ability to resist risks. Because the single-level distribution network structure of production enterprises is not suitable for large-scale logistics distribution, this paper proposes a distribution network structure design that accords with economies of scale and establishes an enterprise supply chain optimization model based on the fuzzy clustering algorithm. Using this optimization method to optimize the inventory of enterprise logistics supply chain, the operation is fast, the result is correct and reasonable, and it can provide good decision support for the distribution network of logistics enterprises. Through information technology and modern management technology, we should effectively control and coordinate the logistics, information flow, and capital flow in the production and operation process and organically integrate the internal supply chain with the external supply chain for management, so as to achieve the goal of global optimization.

The competitive environment of global markets has forced many manufacturers to select the most appropriate logistics for the optimisation of total logistics costs, time and inventory. Cost and time are the two important factors in the competitive market that are often not addressed comprehensively by the researchers. In this study, the genetic algorithms (GAs) and the fuzzy logic techniques are used for optimising a novel mathematical model of the logistics network. The objective of the proposed model is to minimise the costs of production, distribution, holding and backorder. In addition to the optimization of logistics costs, the model can also determine the economic production quantity (EPQ), and with help of the GAs and the Fuzzy logic solver with probability parameters and various dimensions for validation of the studied model in real-life situations, and we compared the outputs to demonstrate the performance of the two optimization techniques . Using Genetic Algorithm and fuzzy logic, the optimized value of the logistics cost, and volume of the logistics network were obtained.

Abstract:
The sustainable combined location-inventory-routing problem (CLIRP) based on demand forecasting is studied in this paper. Based on the construction of a multi-stage demand forecasting model, five parts of total logistics costs: the costs of trunk transportation and regional transportation, the fixed costs of distribution center construction, the inventory holding costs, shortage costs, and salvage, are comprehensively considered. The existing CLIRP model does not consider the environmental influence. Thus, a sustainable CLIRP model considering carbon emission is established with minimum logistics costs and emission as the objective function. A heuristic algorithm gives the initial solution, and then a hybrid heuristic algorithm combining the tabu search algorithm with the simulated annealing algorithm is proposed to find the global near-optimal solution. Finally, a numerical example of a garment chain enterprise is given to illustrate the solving process of the model. The results show that using the proposed algorithm determines the optimal locations of RDCs, and the transportation routes with each region are obtained with the minimum total logistics costs and carbon emission. The model realizes the combination of location, inventory, and routing problems of the large garment enterprises and finally realizes the goal of optimizing the sustainable logistics distribution network of the garment industry, which verifies the effectiveness of the model. Moreover, a comparison is made to show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm; the results show that the proposed algorithm in this paper optimizes the route and selections of RDCs.
