Abstract:
This article reveals the relevance of the study of intrapersonal constructive conflicts, as well as the essence of the socio-psychological approach to understanding this type of conflict. It analyzes the difficulties that occur in defining the concept and structure of intrapersonal constructive conflicts. This type of conflict is associated with a positive model of success, career growth, and personal development. If an intrapersonal constructive conflict, its positive model is associated with an honest model of success, career and development, rather than a deformed one, then we can talk about success, career and development. The value of conflicts is related to their role in professional activities in science, medicine, judicial practice, sports, etc. Indeed, truth is born in a dispute, i.e. in the course of constructive conflicts. It is impossible to imagine scientific activity outside of discussions, discussions, and opposition. Constructive conflicts help to make a diagnosis during medical consultations, prove the truth in court competitions, and set records in sports competitions. It is not by chance that the most important task is to create a full-fledged theory of intrapersonal constructive conflicts. Without this, it is impossible to talk about effective settlement and resolution of social conflicts. The theory of intrapersonal constructive conflicts is an integral part of social conflictology. There is still a lot of work to be done, both in theory and in application, for its full implementation. At present, there is an urgent need to develop conflict-related competence not only for professionals, but also for various groups of the population.

Abstract:
An essential characteristic of pedagogical activity is its conflict potential. Such specific features as high social and normative expectations and significant overloading of roles in combination with individual psychological characteristics of teacher's personality lead to the emergence or exacerbation of various intrapersonal conflicts. Unsettled conflict usually becomes a constant source of discontent with yourself and the environment, causes a high level of anxiety, starts devastating processes of emotional burnout. Therefore, it is important to provide timely assistance to teachers in situations of intrapersonal conflicts. The purpose of the article is to highlight the results of empirical identification of intrapersonal conflict factors of primary school teachers. To achieve this goal it is necessary to solve the following tasks: 1) to investigate the factors of teachers conflict behaviour at the empirical level; 2) to determine the specifics and nature of the relationship between the level and characteristics of conflict and creativity, between the motivation of achievement and development of subjective qualities of a primary school teacher.Research tools: adapted methods of K.Thomas (N.Hrishyna) on the diagnosis of the style of behaviour in a conflict situation; methods of diagnosis of personality motivation for success (T.Ehlers); methods of studying frustration reactions (S.Rosenzweig); methods of diagnostics of interpersonal relations (L.Sobchyk); A.Rukavyshnikov’s methods for the definition of mental burnout; Drawing Apperceptive Test (DAT); methods of self-actualization A.Maslow adapted by Gozman, Kroz & Latinskaya. The total number of respondents - 32 primary school teachers of secondary schools in Drohobych, Lviv region. The analysis of the obtained results showed that: 1) there are specific characteristic connections between the level and features of conflict, creativity, between the motivation of achievement and development of subjective qualities of a person; 2) internal conflict as an interpersonal phenomenon is both a personal characteristic and a determinant of social interaction. It has been found that rivalry, low verbal creativity, lack of communicative competence in combination with extrapunitive type of reactions cause increased conflict. According to the results of the researches, a significant number of primary school teachers under study (32%) have increased intrapersonal conflict. Of course, this alarming indicator prevents the establishment of optimal pedagogical communication and provokes conflict among children of primary school age.

Abstract:
Working mothers who just had their first child face major changes in aspects of their life. Workingmothers have two roles that must be fulfilled in their daily life, being a mother and a worker. Thedemands of these roles often create pressures that cause conflict within the mother herself.Conflicts that occur within herself are called intrapersonal conflicts. This study aims to overviewintrapersonal conflicts and perceived social support in mothers who return to work after havingtheir first child. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with semi-structuredinterview methods involving two participants who work professionally and have their first childaged 0-18 months. The results of this study indicate that there is an intrapersonal conflict in theroles of mother and worker. The type of conflict that arose in the two participants was the type ofmultiple/double approach-avoidance conflict in which the two alternative choices, working andcaring for children, both had negative and positive values for the participants. Both participantsstated that the existence of social support from people around them, can help participants dealwith intrapersonal conflicts when they have to work leaving their children.

Abstract:
Athletes* success and failure have often been linked to certain personality characteristics. Although previous results in this area were equivocal, many researchers concluded that athletes often drop out of competitive sport because of conflicts of interest, or because they fail to demonstrate high ability in sports. This investigation assessed the importance of intrapersonal conflicts to athletic performance and to dropping out. Swimmers competing at three different levels of performance filled out a conflict questionnaire. Some had indicated that they planned to discontinue their swimming career soon. High performers showed less conflict and a more intensive use of cognitive conflict reduction mechanisms than did medium performers and low level swimmers. Dropouts, on the other hand, had higher conflict scores in areas directly related to athletic performance than did continuers. Intrapersonal conflict was interpreted to be an important mediating variable in sport and personality research.

Abstract:
Introduction. Based on empirical research, the author makes a qualitative analysis of the relationship between students' leadership qualities and interpersonal conflicts as well as discusses the features of student intrapersonal conflicts and their relationship with students' leadership potential. Aim. To explore the relationship between the humanities and engineering students' leadership qualities and intrapersonal conflicts. Methods. The study of the impact of intrapersonal conflicts on the development of humanities and engineering students' leadership qualities was conducted using the Lauterbach Intrapersonal Conflicts questionnaire. Results. According to the structure of leadership qualities proposed by the author, intrapersonal conflicts are a personal leadership potential development factor, which is a personal psychological characteristic. The author discusses in detail four types of intrapersonal conflicts (the conflicts between the needs for dominance and subordination, the conflicts between the need for achievement and the fear of failure, the aspirations-and-achievements conflicts, and the trust-and-self-sufficiency conflicts), which affect the development of the humanities and engineering students’ leadership potential. Conclusions. Intrapersonal conflicts indicate the presence of contradictions between the individuals' leadership qualities such as purposefulness, motivation, integrity, confidence, developed personality, and adequate self-esteem. Intrapersonal conflicts can both promote individuals' leadership skills and decrease them. Therefore, further research into personal leadership skills development is necessary to create developmental and training methods to control intrapersonal conflicts, which could help students in their future careers.

Abstract:
The effect of intrapersonal conflict is investigated with respect to an initial choice among alternative strategies for management of interpersonal conflict. In this study 140 members of an academic institution were asked to consider an hypothetical situation in which a candidate for a position has to be selected and their personal preference among the candidates is in opposition to that of another senior member of the organization. The choice of a strategy for management of interpersonal conflict was affected by inner conflict associated with one's own preference among the candidates. When the set of available candidates induced inner conflict, the respondents were more inclined to use avoidance, accommodation, collaboration, and compromise, and less likely to use competition.

Abstract:
Silverman, Yehuda. "Uncertain Peace: An Autoethnographic Analysis of Intrapersonal Conflicts from Chabad-Lubavitch Origins." NSUWorks, 2017. http://nsuworks.nova.edu/shss_dcar_etd/71.

Full text
Abstract:
This research focused on a micro-analysis of intrapersonal conflicts that originated from an upbringing of Chabad-Lubavitch, a spiritual branch of Judaism. The cultural stress and uncertainty of how to be labeled within a Chabad-Lubavitch framework is also explored from an insider’s perspective through autoethnography, which provided unrestricted access to intrapersonal conflicts, and reduced the risk of psychologically harming other Lubavitchers. Field theory, human needs theory, uncertainty-identity theory, culture-stress theory, and communication accommodation theory provided an interdisciplinary theoretical foundation to analyze the manifested intrapersonal conflicts. The collected data consisted of culture and family diagrams, recorded intrapersonal conflicts, archival materials, and a supplementary reflexive journal. This analytical autoethnography expands social science research through the data analysis and findings, which discusses how originating from a culture of Chabad-Lubavitch has impacted the past, present, and potential future of intrapersonal conflicts. Cultural customs, private and public life perceptions, historical trauma, and environmental stressors were noted as significant factors that contributed to intrapersonal conflicts. The recommendations of this study include possible approaches to reframing intrapersonal conflict that may contribute to cultivating internal peace for members of this community experiencing cultural stress.

Abstract:
Cognitive responses to identity crisis can influence inner harmony, behavior, and decision making while negatively affecting interpersonal relationships. The emotions associated with identity crisis establish the conditions that lead to various forms of conflict. Identity-related conflicts are often intractable and characterized by high levels of stalemates, counterproductive responses, posturing, or one-sided resolution expectations. Furthermore, the onset of dual conflicts brought about by competing internal and external demands has a deleterious impact on conflict strategies and resolution attempts. The purpose of this study was to explored the relationship between the pursuit of the ideal self and intrapersonal conflict as a means to further the understanding of the role identity in conflict. The researcher utilized a mixed-method approach to determine associations between variables. During the quantitative phase of the study, a Pearson’s bivariate correlation was used to establish statistical significance. Research results reveal a strong significant negative correlation between the pursuit of the Ideal Self. A Transcendental Phenomenological inquiry was conducted to explore the essence of the participant’s experience. Participants described the phenomenon as an unachievable, continuous, and emotional maturation process that fosters reflection, restraint, and inner peace. Additionally, the qualitative phase of the study revealed a connection between the pursuit of the ideal-self and an individual’s conflict management style.

The phenomenon of interpersonal conflicts in the student environment has recently aroused increasing interest among scholars and practitioners, as evidenced by the rapid growth of research and publications on conflict, violence and aggression of young people. Since modern civilization not only did not overcome such manifestations, but also, to a large extent, modified and expanded their range, the problem of interpersonal conflicts is of great interest to science in a broad fundamental and applied aspects. This situation requires radical changes in the educational process. Therefore, the problem of finding universal and latest technologies and methods of preventing and overcoming interpersonal conflicts in the student environment deserves special attention. The urgency of the problem of master's work is insufficient research of theoretical and practical level of prevention and overcoming of interpersonal conflicts in the student environment in the conditions of in institution of higher education, existence of the specified contradictions, and necessity of their decision, all this has caused a research choice: «Prevention and overcoming of interpersonal conflicts in the student environment». Section 1 examines the theoretical approaches to the issue of interpersonal conflicts in the student environment in the conditions of free economic analysis, analyzes the concept of "interpersonal conflicts" and analyzes the youth and the causes of interpersonal conflicts in the student environment. Section 2 examines the occurrence and causes of interpersonal conflicts in the student environment in the conditions of in institution of higher education. Section 3 defines the features of the work of a social worker on the prevention and overcoming of interpersonal conflicts in the student environment and offers an author's program for the correction of interpersonal conflicts.

Abstract:
Abstract This qualitative research explores creative movement processes such as dance/movement therapy (DMT), authentic movement (AM), and creative dance (CD) as possible tools for transforming sexual trauma for women. Eleven movement professionals were interviewed in a semi-structured research format. My direct experience and knowledge of sexual abuse, sexual trauma, and creative movement processes are interwoven with the research question: do creative dance/movement therapy processes contribute to the dynamic of healing for women transforming sexual trauma? These findings are inconclusive for the greater population of survivors of sexual abuse and sexual trauma. However, there are indications that DMT, AM, and CD may be potential tools for recovery. This research contributes to a dialogue about sexual abuse and recovery from sexual trauma.

Ouzounian, Nicole Marie. "A Phenomenological Research Study on the Treatment Experience of Opioid Addicts: Exploring the Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Conflicts that Opioid Addicts Face During the Treatment Process." Diss., NSUWorks, 2018. https://nsuworks.nova.edu/shss_dcar_etd/118.

Full text
Abstract:
Opioid addiction is a physical, mental, and social issue. The insidious habits and behaviors acquired while living an addictive lifestyle are more powerful than human comprehension, and the training required to release these strongholds are extreme to say the least. Capturing the lived experiences of this process is needed to increase understanding of the development that leads to transformation from active addict to addict in recovery. This phenomenological research study on the treatment experience of opioid addicts used a qualitative approach to gain understanding of this phenomenon. For this study, 15 research participants were selected. Their ages ranged from 21 to 30-years-old and they all successfully completed an adult substance abuse treatment program. All participants must have been in active recovery for a minimum of one year. The central question for this study is: what are the intrapersonal and interpersonal conflicts opioid addicts are presented with during their treatment process? By means of conducting and analyzing interview questions and utilizing the conflict resolution theories of human motivation, social identity theory, coordinated management of meaning theory, and relative deprivation theory, this study revealed that the overall essence of the treatment experience is the journey of identity transformation from active addict to addict in recovery through conflict management. The need to manage conflict in five specific areas was uncovered. They include identity formation, stigma, interpersonal relationships, group structure, and conflict styles. The participants’ shared experiences provide insight into identifying conflicts that need to be managed and resolved so recovery is achieved and sustained.

Abstract:
This study explores the world of human conflict in the workplace, the workplace (in this case) being a South African university. Using the academic tools of ethnography and autoethnography, I investigate the dimensions of human conflict management, which include intrapersonal, interpersonal and intra-group conflict management, from a psychological perspective. In this thesis I refer, in particular, to examples and extractions taken from case studies that focus on conflicts between employees. In doing so I used an eclectic, psychodynamic theoretical frame of reference. The data was collected and processed over a period of fourteen years. Another focus of this thesis is my reflections on my personal development as a counselling psychologist specialising in intrapersonal, interpersonal and intra-group conflict management within an institutional organisation. The participants‟ stories revealed intense emotional experiences and I have put forward suggestions on how these experiences could be explored and dealt with by means of psychologically orientated techniques and interventions within the boundaries of the ethical codes and values of counselling psychology. My eclectic choice of brief psychotherapy, strengths-based counselling, and psychodynamic-based intrapersonal, interpersonal and intra-group interventions are included in my personal narrative. This study serves only as a guideline to other counselling psychologists who deal with human conflicts in similar situations. I have not tried to present a generalised theory. In this study, I argue strongly that there is indeed a place for counselling psychologists and the application of psychological knowledge in the world of human resources departments in organisations. I believe that counselling psychologists can operate, alternatively, as individual counselling psychologists, workshop facilitators and co-facilitators, as consultants, and as members of multidisciplinary teams to address, among other, conflict management in a tertiary institution.

Abstract:
This chapter considers Cohen’s relationalism and Kalderon’s pluralism. An overarching point is to challenge the assumption that we should employ the same strategy for dealing with intrapersonal, interpersonal, and interspecies variation in color experience. Against this assumption, the chapter argues that intrapersonal variation in color appearances can be analogized to intrapersonal variation in shape appearances; different perspectives yield different appearances, with no suggestion that just one of the appearances is the uniquely correct one. But the same is not true for interpersonal variation in color appearance, which is better explained by the vagueness of objective colors. And in the interspecies case, since the varying color appearances are taken from different color spaces altogether, we need not hold that there is even a prima facie conflict in appearances that needs to be resolved by Cohen’s relativizing strategy. Rather, in this case Kalderon’s pluralism provides the best solution.

It may imply fulfilling and satisfying the needs of one another. In a more altruistic tone, the relationship is giving and receiving. Others see a relationship as a social exchange. In contrast, others may see it as a social and ethical contract that ought to adhere. Others see a relationship as an instrument as a means to self-actualize or as a process of reaching the self-potential. There are many types of relationships. While others have a formal set of rules, there are interpersonal relationships that have loose code of affair. Among the dimensions of relationship, intimate interpersonal relationships are complicated. In contrast to business affair, marriage and in other intimate partnership, sanctions, roles and rules are not clearly defined. The ambiguity of interpersonal relationships reflects the dynamisms of its elements. Since its fluid, contextual and multi-faceted, there is no exact point of analysis. In this article, awareness, dialog, groundedness, embodiment are discussed in the light of intimate partner conflicts that are amplified using fictional case vignettes that are adopted from real cases of intimate conflict. This article concludes with the assertion that cultivation of relationships starts with the person.

Abstract:
The article discusses the problem of conflict, highlighted the large role of human self-regulation in resolving the conflict. The approaches to the problem of self-regulation presented in Russian psychology are considered. We took the following approaches as a basis for considering the problem of self-regulation: E. A. Golubeva, A. B., Leonova, V. I. Morosanova et al. Understanding the problem of self-regulation is carried out by us in the context of the humanitarian paradigm (M. M. Bakhtin, N. Ya. Bolshunova, N. I. Nepomnyashchaya, T. A. Florenskaya). The technology is based on the possession of the practical principles of human self-regulation in resolving conflict situations. It is assumed that the technology of selfregulation in a conflict is more effective if it is based on the sociocultural foundations of human life. In the modern world, many conflicts (national, interpersonal, intragroup, intrapersonal, school, etc.) are often resolved destructively with aggression, cruelty, etc. The destructive nature of conflict resolution in many cases is affected by the inability of people to regulate themselves, to perceive the other, his “friend”. A feature of the Russian mentality is peacefulness, the value of achieving peace and harmony. Conflict resolution in the context of Russian mentality is associated with forgiveness. At the same time, forgiveness is understood as a complex spiritual and moral phenomenon associated with a system of values that a person is guided by in his life, in his choices and actions. The ability to forgive is based on the “dominant on the other”, the recognition of the other by the other, the right of the other to “friend”, which actualizes the possibility of a dialogue between the forgiving and the forgiven. It is shown that the dialectic of “interrogation” and “responsiveness” lies at the heart of the dialogue. A dialogue made in the context of sociocultural patterns, updated by means of text (fairy tales, parables, etc.), initiating leading activities (in preschool — games, elementary schools — creative and productive, etc.) determines a person’s readiness for forgiveness. Dialogue — forgiveness contributes to the perception and understanding of another person in a conflict situation, makes it possible to resolve the conflict in a peaceful way. The technology of self-regulation in conflict resolution through a dialogue of forgiveness can reduce the number of conflicts between children, children and parents, teachers, etc. For three years, on the basis of the educational institution, we organized the service of “forgiveness and reconciliation”. This service includes: children, parents, teachers, administration. The technology under consideration for the self-regulation of a person in conflict through a dialogue of forgiveness has shown its effectiveness in building the value of the relationship “I and the Other”.
