Abstract:
The monograph reveals the features of vestimental, i.e. related to clothing, a person's choice that determines the nature of his communication with other people. These actions may be dictated by a person's national, social, professional, gender, or other group affiliation. At the same time, clothing that has its own fashion language can help decipher the most intricate social and political symbols and thus clarify complex situations in international relations. Many meanings of power and subordination, war and peace, labor and celebration are transmitted through clothing. Times change, and with them not only mores change, but also the understanding of the purpose of fashion. Today, it is able to Express environmental values and implement charitable projects. It is intended for specialists in the history of international relations, geopolitics, sociology, and cultural studies. It will also be of interest to a wide range of readers.

Abstract:
This chapter provides a panorama of the community of scholars in France who work on political communication broadly understood and situates that body of work in the fundamentally interdisciplinary international field of political communication. The study of political communication in France, largely conducted by political scientists, has had to struggle to have its scientific credibility acknowledged both inside and outside France, arguably more so than other disciplines. While the scientific community, dominated by US-based scholars and often using the electoral persuasion paradigm, has become increasingly institutionalized at the international level, French scholars have been quite resistant to this international work. Recently, the electoral persuasion paradigm has been embraced to a certain degree and the emerging French research agenda includes experimental approaches, some critical sociology, and, as with all countries, a focus on new media. There has been little evidence of the ‘French touch,’ however, in the international political communication community.

Abstract:
Two recent changes in the political arena should prompt a rethinking of our theories and definitions of political communication: the emergence of trans-national and non-national actors on the international political stage and the enhanced ability of individuals to convey messages to large scale audiences. For example, the entity called IS, ISIL or ISIS has demonstrated that it can set the agendas of both legacy media and elected leaders with evocative messaging that reaches a mass public while at the same time bypassing traditional media gatekeepers. This chapter argues that our theories about the altered relationships among leaders, media, and publics should forsake key assumptions in the “transmission” model, are amendable to a focus on message, and reconsider concepts such as the two-step flow. This changed environment requires as well that a definition of political communication include a concept of power not predicated on top-down models of understanding.
