Abstract:
Religious moderation is part of the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). Religious moderation is a form of government effort to counteract violent extremism. This program must be supported by all elements in Indonesia, such as society, government, and interfaith organizations such as the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB). The city of Salatiga is a portrait of diversity because of its diversity of cultures and religions. Communication is vital in the organization's center, uniting and integrating all elements to achieve organizational goals. This study aims to determine the communication the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB) uses in developing religious moderation in Salatiga City. This study uses a qualitative method with an interpretive approach and data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that there are five communications carried out by the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB) in developing religious moderation in Salatiga City, namely (1) social services, (2) counseling/socialization, (3) mock studies/work visits, (4) intensive involvement in the activities of other agencies and (5) building religious tourism sites. Abstract:
Extremes in religion are a serious problem when looking at the country's heterogeneity and multiculturalism level. The results of extremes tend to give birth to religiously labeled conflicts, which require religious moderation to be embodied, one of which is through educational channels. Education is considered a path with potential because it is an educational forum for producing a moderate generation of the nation, one of which is Islamic Religious Education. Learning that is an aspect of education can be used as a path to implement religious moderation. Moreover, this study aims to reveal the concept of religious moderation according to M. Quraish Shihab and its application to learning Islamic religious education. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of research library research. Data collection techniques are documentation and content analysis as analytical techniques. From this study, several findings were found that religious moderation is a middle position (balance) in religion, meaning that it stands between two opposing sides of the extreme, while the purpose of religious moderation is to create a just, consistent, firm, and balanced perspective on both worldly and ukhrawi affairs. Moreover, religious moderation can be applied through learning methods such as discussions, group work, and tourist work.

Abstract:
I provide a narrative of the emergence of an expressly articulated “political science” in the Scottish Enlightenment. Political science was designed by Hume, Smith, and others to advance both a Newtonian method for the study of politics and a politics of moderation whose tasks included a critique of enthusiasm. In this way, political science, moderation, and (anti)enthusiasm were conceptually connected. The emergence of political science, understood in this way, required a number of conceptual changes in a structure of argument shaped largely by Locke. These conceptual changes, in turn, fixed a rhetorical framework for persistent debates over the methodological and political identity of political science, even as ideology literally replaced enthusiasm. These persistent debates reveal the relevance of the history of political science as a forum for remembrance, reflection, and critique.

Abstract:
Online discussion forums engage learners in higher-level thinking, allowing them to explore topics in much greater depth. One such formal online professional discussion platform is the two-year Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) Fellowship offered by the Christian Medical College Ludhiana (CMCL) - FAIMER Regional Institute (CMCL-FRI). In this study, we report the results of a survey conducted among FAIMER fellows after attending online discussions on Simulation-based teaching (SBT) to evaluate their change in knowledge levels on the topic. This was a retrospective analysis of pre-moderation and post-moderation questionnaire responses. The questions/statements were designed to cover the entire range of topics planned to be discussed during the moderation month.: While the median score between the pre-moderation and post-moderation month questionnaires remained the same, the average score showed an increase from 9.5 to 10.37. The number of fellows who scored the maximum possible score of 12 showed a significant increase from 2.94% to 23.33% between the pre-session to the post-moderation month questionnaires (p-value=0.015). The percentage of respondents who answered the questions correctly in the post-moderation month questionnaire showed an increase over the pre-moderation month questionnaire in 10 out of 12 questions, with the increase being highly significant in 2 out of these 10 questions. Attending online ML web discussions leads to an increase in knowledge levels among participants and is an effective way to introduce medical educationists to essential concepts in medical education.

Abstract:
Myanmar is in an important phase of its political transition. The opportunity for substantive federal reform, which is central to peacebuilding and democratisation, is present and being progressed through parallel elite level forums. However, these elite negotiations have serious limitations, as they fail to reach out to citizens, and contribute to polarisation and the perpetuation of extreme views regarding federalism. To address the absence of public deliberation on federalism in Myanmar, we organised five deliberative events based on the Deliberative Polling® methodology. This paper discusses some of the key findings and demonstrates how they can contribute to federal constitutional reform in Myanmar. It shows that when debating fundamental issues relating to identity and national sovereignty, public deliberation has moderation effects even in conflict-ridden deeply divided societies. Indeed, questions that related to the institutions associated with identity and religion had the highest quality of deliberation, opinion change and moderation. These more moderate and considered deliberated perspectives are of great value for dealing with the polarisation issue that Myanmar faces and demonstrate the potential of deliberative democracy tools to supplement and moderate electoral democracy and elite-driven constitutional change processes.

Abstract:
The supercritical water-cooled reactor (SCWR) is one of six reactor concepts under development in the Generation-IV International Forum (GIF). As a member of GIF, Canada is developing a pressure-tube type SCWR, which has the potential to fulfill all major GIF goals on enhanced safety, sustainability, economics, and proliferation resistance. The system thermalhydraulics code CATHENA will be used in the safety analyses for the Canadian SCWR. Based on the current conceptual design of the Canadian SCWR, a CATHENA idealization has been developed. This model includes all 336 fuel channels with a detailed model of heat transfer in the reactor core. Also modeled are the main pumps, inlet plenum, outlet plenum, turbines, and heavy water moderator. In this paper, the CATHENA idealization of the Canadian SCWR conceptual design is described. Simulation results for steady-state normal operations are also presented for the current Canadian SCWR conceptual design.

Abstract:
Background: Environmental deterioration is the alarming situation that results from rapid urbanization and development. The rising temperature and climate volatility are accounted for by the massive carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The research on climate-change mitigation is trying to curtail the situations before they become irreversible and unmanageable. This study explores the role of institutions in mitigating climate change by moderating the impact of environmental quality on climate change risk. Methodology: Global data sets have been collected from world big data depositories like the World Economic Forum (WEF), the World Development Indicators (WDI), and the International Country Risk Guide (ICRG). Countries that are listed in WEF were used as the sample of the study. An analysis was based on 114 countries that are based on the availability of data. For estimation, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, change effects, and a Panel Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS) model were used for estimating the results. Results: The global assessment indicates that CO2 emissions increase the climate risk, but its impact can be reduced by increasing the quality of institutions. Additionally, an increase in renewable energy consumption and economic growth reduces the climate risk. Implications: It is an instrumental study that empirically investigated the role of institutions in reducing climate risk by moderating CO2 emissions. The results of this study will help policymakers to formulate policies regarding environmental protection.

Abstract Incels (short for “involuntarily celibate”) have recently gained notoriety for their aggressive, often violent, misogyny, yet incels were not always an antidemocratic social group. They thus pose a challenge for thinking about democracy and identity in (anonymous) digital environments: how can we create spaces for marginalized social groups while ensuring the resulting identities remain democratic? While many scholars point to technological affordances or corporate content moderation policies as providing some solutions, in this article I propose a more democratic approach. Drawing from incel wikis and archived forum posts from two early incel communities—IncelSupport and LoveShy—I argue that a community's social norms, and the moderation practices required to sustain them, are user-directed interventions that have outsized effects in shaping group identities in democratic ways.

Abstract:
As evidenced by the events that occurred in 2021, extremist ideology is still prevalent among religious devotees in Indonesia. Many groups working under the leadership of the government have made efforts to reduce this radical ideology, one of which being the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB). Aside from that, the Religious Harmony Forum was tasked with conducting a research to develop a strategy for defeating radicalism based on religious moderation. In this qualitative study, data mining was done through in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies on the management of FKUB Ciamis and the community. The research findings indicate that each representative of the religious assembly at FKUB has a reasonable religious understanding, which is evident in their attitude of respecting each other's religious beliefs and giving comfort for diverse persons in worship. To combat the ideology of radicalism, two techniques can be used: first, educate the public by conducting outreach on the importance and operationalization of moderate views in social relations. Second, the operation of religious organizations such as FKUB, which play a significant role in promoting religious unity.

Abstract:
Participatory formats in online journalism offer increased options for user comments to reach a mass audience, also enabling the spreading of incivility. As a result, journalists feel the need to moderate offensive user comments in order to prevent the derailment of discussion threads. However, little is known about the principles on which forum moderation is based. The current study aims to fill this void by examining 673,361 user comments (including all incoming and rejected comments) of the largest newspaper forum in Germany (Spiegel Online) in terms of the moderation decision, the topic addressed, and the use of insulting language using automated content analysis. The analyses revealed that the deletion of user comments is a frequently used moderation strategy. Overall, more than one-third of comments studied were rejected. Further, users mostly engaged with political topics. The usage of swear words was not a reason to block a comment, except when offenses were used in connection with politically sensitive topics. We discuss the results in light of the necessity for journalists to establish consistent and transparent moderation strategies.
