Abstract:

Abstract:
With the Lisbon 2000 Strategy, the focus of education systems has shifted from contents to competencies and due to the constant update of new technologies, education has to be considered as a lifelong process. In this context, online technologies play an increasingly crucial role. While research on learning software has mainly focused on the contents and digital medium in teaching, this study examines aspects of the digital artifacts that have been rarely investigated but are fundamental to increase the learner’s motivation, including system, interface, navigation, and graphics. Specifically, this work develops a new framework to analyse user experience and sustainability strategies that have been implemented in the case study JaLea. The analysis of primary data, collected with surveys and interviews, allows determining whether these strategies are effective for the creation of e-learning systems that are useful for the learner’s personal study, as well as investigate possible developments for teaching environments.

Abstract:
Professionology is a scientific and applied discipline of professional knowledge, the subject of which is the problems of human interaction with the world of professions, and its semantic factor is psychological content. An important place in the textbook is occupied by the professionology of education: the trends in the development of continuing education, the interface of professional and educational standards, the design of individual educational trajectories of students are reflected. Particular attention is paid to the professionology of the individual: its development and self-determination in the professional educational space, destructive development trends, the formation of transprofessionalism and the prediction of the professional future of a person in a modern post-industrial society. Meets the requirements of the federal state educational standards of higher education of the latest generation. It is addressed to students of higher educational institutions, trainees of advanced training institutions, teachers of secondary vocational education, as well as graduate students and researchers of vocational pedagogical education institutions.

Abstract:
Abstract This book contains 4 chapters that discuss in the context of both the One Health concept and the SDG initiative, remote sensing can provide solutions to the priority of assessing and monitoring public health risks, and it can play an important role in supporting decision making to reduce health risks within our shared ecosystems. The growing awareness of complex but causal interactions among these realms has motivated professionals in a wide range of sectors to adopt the One Health approach, which promotes intersectoral collaboration to address health issues at the human-animal-environment interface. In its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the United Nations specifically identifies "strengthening the capacity of all countries, in particular developing countries, for early warning, risk reduction and management of national and global health risks" as part of their Good Health and Well-being Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). As examples presented in this book reveal, the risk of infectious disease emergence increases with a wide range of conditions and variables, including those associated with humans, animals, climate, and the environment. This book examines several priority themes to which EO and geomatics can make important contributions: mosquito-borne and tick-borne diseases; water-borne diseases; air quality and extreme heat effects; geospatial indicators of vulnerable human populations.

Abstract:
This chapter offers a new reading of Pindar’s Nemean 8. It investigates the ways in which Pindar frames consciousness about art, cult, and the material world with the language and imagery of desire, vision, and physical contact. Discussion is built around the encounter with the Aeginetan cult hero Aiakos, and the potential for interfaces with contemporary art and ritual through contextual allusion to his Aeginetan shrine. This forms the basis for a broader treatment of the poem’s visual and haptic metaphors, and a wider-ranging musing on epinician poetry’s potential to grant special access: to the mythical; to ritual; to heroes; to the deceased and to the past; to context. These findings are then built upon to offer a fresh interpretation of the encounter with the hero Alcmaeon in Pindar’s Pythian 8.

Abstract:
The vocabulary of the modern Gulf Arabic dialects contains many items of ancient Mesopotamian origin; there is also evidence of early south Arabian influences. Historically, three dialect types existed in the region: Najdi, coastal (these two are ‘A dialects’), and Baḥārna (‘B’ dialects). There must long have been contact between these three, but the main interface was between the Najdi and the coastal type. The (Shīˁī) Baḥārna lived in separate settlements, pursued livelihoods specific to them, and did not marry with the other two groups. All of this preserved their dialect. This sociolinguistic division was most evident in the state of Bahrain. In recent decades, changes in employment and increased urbanization have brought about increased interdialectal contact, resulting in the loss of B dialect features and a homogenization of the A dialects to the point that one can now speak of the emergence of a Gulf koine.

Abstract:
This article examines the behavior of superconductivity in mesoscopic type-I superconductors based on micromagnetic measurements on two electrochemically grown mesoscopic superconductors, namely lead and tin. It first provides an overview of the basic properties of mesoscopic superconductivity and the interface between two different superconductors that are in close contact with one another. It then describes the electrochemical preparation of β-tin samples in a variety of shapes and sizes in the mesoscopic regime. It also presents the results of micromagnetic measurements, carried out using micro-Hall probes, including observations of the vortex states in mesoscopic tin and lead triangles and of proximity effects in lead/tin core–shell structures.

Abstract:
Plains-Pueblo research typically examines issues of culture contact, culture history, and social evolutionary trajectories leading up to European colonization. While previous approaches have shaped current understandings of Plains-Pueblo exchange, they fail to appreciate the role of Athapaskans in prevailing models of regional interactions in the American Southwest during the Protohistoric period (1450–1700 ce). This chapter discusses the social institutions and practices that enabled the Athapaskans to dominate southern Plains bison economies and trade with eastern frontier Pueblos. A reconceptualization of Athapaskan-Pueblo interaction draws attention to the deep history of the Plains-Pueblo interface based on trade, kinship, and residence during the pre-colonial to colonial transition.
