Abstract:
The following review article analyzes an array of scientific studies dedicated to the Russian population of the neighboring countries. This article considers the works dealing with quantitative, spatial, and settlement dynamics of Russian communities; scale and direction of migration; shifts in indicators of natural reproduction and sex-age structure. Analysis of the scientific literature shows a widespread trend of depopulation, reduction in geography, a noticeable gender imbalance and increase in the average age among Russians across the entire near abroad. But there are also significant cross-country differences in these trends. This article also identifies main directions of research on the ethno-social dynamics of the Russian population, including analysis of the problems of its ethnic self-identification and interethnic marriage, the related assimilation processes, which, depending on the country and region, could contribute to both replenishment of Russian communities, or growth of their demographic losses. The studies dedicated to sociocultural processes, to position of the Russian language and Russian culture in the post-Soviet space, show multidirectional nature of the changes. A significant reduction in the scale of Russian-language education and other spheres of sociocultural infrastructure was combined in the post-Soviet space with dominance of the Russian-speaking Internet and keeping Russian as the language of interethnic communication. The scientific literature also reveal significant differences in the strategies of the Russian people themselves, in some regions of the neighboring countries they are predominantly focused on complex socio-cultural integration, in the others — on preservation of their cultural and linguistic specifics.

Abstract:
The article reveals some results of a sociological study on the features of religious identity of spouses and social practices of children's inclusion in interethnic families (on the example of the Republic of Bashkortostan). This topic is most relevant for multi-ethnic regions, where interfaith marriages are quite common, despite the presence of isolationist attitudes among a part of the population. Marriages between representatives of various religious movements lead to the formation of a special cross-cultural environment of interaction, which requires the spouses to make many decisions, including on the confessional affiliation of children, on the choice of mechanisms for the formation of religious identity. Based on the author's research, the article analyses the state of religious identity of a resident of a multi-ethnic region in a dynamic aspect. Special attention is paid to spouses who are in an interethnic marriage. The author studies variants of religious communications, among which the dominant one is the co-existence of religions in variations from "common / unified religion" to "equality". Most of the families studied are classified as egalitarian and democratic in terms of their power structure and upbringing model. The article provides data on the state of religious identity of children raised in multi-ethnic families. The authors call traditional, psychological and educational motives for introducing children to religion the predominant ones. Based on the presented material, the authors come to the conclusion that there are two most common models of introducing children to religion in interethnic families: passive (indirect) and active religious socialization. The first model is the most popular among residents of large cities, while traditional families choose the second one.

Abstract:
The article analyzes plot forms of African tales related to the concept of snake-man and his function as a marriage partner. The author uses the intertextual approach, which allowed placing texts of fairy tales in interethnic cultural context, as well as the interdisciplinary approach (i.e. a combination of folklore and ethnographic material from Sub-Saharan Africa). These approaches allow tracing the geographical distribution of the studied plots on the continent, as well as to understand the semantics of individual fairy tales motifs, which are completely divorced from their cultural context in parallel plots of Eurasian folklore, where they exist within the framework of the “fairy tale” genre. The paper demonstrates existence of a close connection between tales and myths, ritual complexes, practices of initiations and social institutions, which make up a single semantic field, individual aspects of which exist in close interconnection.

Abstract:
The article deals with the factors ensuring interethnic stability in the modern Dagestan society, the assessment of the interethnic tension potential as the characteristics of (stable/conflict) interrelations among peoples, the ground for the formation of disintegrating processes, the causes of interethnic confrontation and exacerbation of interethnic relations, the base of the development ofattitude towards interethnic tolerance and intolerance, “cultural detachment”of the Dagestan peoples. The problem of harmonization of interethnic relations is one of the most important at the present stage of the development of the Russian society, and it is especially relevant in administrative territories characterized by diversity of ethno-social structure. Against the background of socio-economic stabilization of the noughties, the state-civil (Russian) and republican (Dagestan-wide) identities, gradually gaining weight, have significantly strengthened their positions in the structure of social identity. Moreover, republican identity now prevails over ethnic one,it allows to conclude that the importance of interethnic harmony in the Dagestan society is growing. Basing on the results of the sociological research, the author considers the reasons for exacerbation of interethnic relations, including territorial disputes, peculiarities of land reform, low level of socio-economic development of the republic, competition for land and workplaces, low culture of interethnic communication, migration of people from mountainous regions to flat land, employment issue, side effect of education and loss of principles of international education. Despite the existence of a latent form of interethnic confrontation and “social detachment”, in the mass consciousness of the respondents there is a positive perception of the Dagestan peoples, an orientation toward maintaining close interethnic communication in almost all spheres of social contact, except for family and marriage sphere.

Abstract:
The authors analyze legal regulation of interethnic relations in the sphere of criminal law and the problems of implementing legal norms in modern law enforcement activities. It is noted that the condition of interethnic relations in a multinational country determines a substantial part of the migration policy and has a great influence on the economic, political and criminogenic situation. The authors describe the modern condition of interethnic relations in the Russian Federation, trace the historical connection with the national question in the Russian Empire and the USSR, analyze the State Strategy of National Policy of the Russian Federation till 2025 approved by the Decree of the RF President of December 19, 2012 № 1666. It is shown that Russian legal regulation of interethnic relations lacks a unified framework of concepts and categories; for example, there are no clear boundaries between the concepts «ethnic», «national», «racial» and their derived categories. All of them are used in a chaotic manner with different mutual correlations. The article describes the contents of the compared concepts, determines their converging and differentiating features. The fundamental difference in the understanding of the concept of «national» in Russian and foreign legislation and law enforcement is stressed. The authors prove the necessity to unify terminology, bring examples from Russian court practice and the position of the European Court of Human Rights, establish the criminalistic significance of ethnic information. It is suggested that the specific framework of concepts and categories should be the basis for the development of practical instruments for using ethnic information about the participants of a crime event — a mechanism of practical implementation of the legal regulation of interethnic relations, and for determinig its goals, tasks, and key directions of work. Besides, the authors examine modern social interethnic situation in the area of identifying, investigating and detecting crimes.

Abstract:
The paper presents some results of the research that is aimed at revealing the mechanisms of discursive construction of international and interethnic relations in different types of discourse. The object of study in this fragment is the legal discourse, which is viewed within the paradigm of social constructionism. The author consolidates studies of law as discursive practice and outlines an appropriate methodological perspective, which presupposes the interpretation of legal discourse in social and axiological context, participation of society in legal-discursive practices, and the essential role of legal discourse in power relations. To perform the analysis of the ‘Strategy of State national policy of the Russian Federation’, the author applies the categories of social actor, implicature, specifying and vagueness, which are typically exploited in Critical Discourse Analysis. The results demonstrate that the document in question categorises the participants in interethnic relations and constructs a few pairs of interacting parties. The state is represented as a key actor in interethnic relations. The document also operates the discursively opposite mechanisms of specifying and vagueness to problematise certain aspects of the relations. Axiologically laden abstract categories and implicature also construct interethnic relations.

Abstract:
This study characterizes several aspects of emerging ethnic identity in childhood and its associations with interethnic group social preferences. Understanding these processes is important, as early interethnic group social practices may form a foundation for later interethnic group attitudes and behaviors in adolescence. Children of Cambodian, Dominican, and Portuguese heritage (aged 6—12 years) consistently and accurately identified with labels of their family's nationality of origin across the three study years, and reported strong ethnic pride. In support of existing developmental models of ethnic identity in adolescence, older children demonstrated greater ethnic identity exploration than younger children. Importantly, for second-generation children, a positive sense of ethnic identity was not only associated with ingroup social preferences, but also ethnic outgroup social preferences. Findings are discussed with regard to existing models of ethnic identity development.

Abstract:
Introduction. The relevance of the study of cross-cultural marriages in Russia and Iran is due to the fact that Russia and Iran are characterized by both attention to the observance of cultural needs and the desire for innovative development. These contradictory manifestations are also manifested in family and marriage relations. There is a shortage of empirical studies that reflect the range of opinions of various social strata in Russia and Iran, allowing a comparative analysis of attitudes towards cross-cultural marriages to determine the prospects for state policy to support the institution of marriage in a cross-cultural environment. The purpose of the public research is to analyze the relationship with cross-cultural marriages in Russia and Iran against the background of the proposed family model. Materials and Methods. Sociological research is carried out by the method of a quantitative survey. 153 people were interviewed in total, urban residents of Russia and Iran aged 18 to 60 who are in cross-cultural marriages or an interethnic, interfaith environment. To analyze the results, descriptive statistics methods, frequency distributions, and a tabular data visualization method were used. Results. The survey results have revealed the presence of different ideas about the desired model of family and marriage both in Iran and Russia (both traditional and modern). The study has revealed a friendly attitude towards interethnic marriages in both countries (primarily for urban residents). In many ways, the success of cross-cultural marriages is determined by the attitude of relatives and the local community towards them. Discussion and Conclusion. The results obtained can be used to develop strategies for the development of socio-cultural interaction between Russia and Iran. It is essential to consider the study’s conclusions when supporting cross-cultural families in the process of adaptation and acquaintance with the norms, traditions, and customs of a new culture spouse. It is necessary to conduct a study on a more representative sample to assess the differentiation and determinants of people’s opinions in interethnic marriages living in Iran and Russia.

Abstract:
The paper deals with the legal institution of dissolution of marriage in the context of creating conditions for the marriage preservation. It is concluded that it is necessary to change the procedure of dissolution of marriage in order to ensure the possibility of reconciliation of spouses, for example, to determine the powers of the court to refer the case to a specialist, who performs conciliation (mediator or psychologist), if this procedure is free of charge for spouses. Given the importance of preservation of the family when there are minor children in the family, the possibility of reconciliation must also be extended. The second approach to changing the existing law in the area of marriage dissolution with regard to the grounds, may include the transition to the concept of “divorce/ sanction” (including its flexible application). This approach is widely used in foreign legislation, it has long been traditional for domestic law and is approved in legal consciousness. The third approach may involve the modification of law enforcement practices relating to post-divorce upbringing of children, which indirectly motivates one party to divorce, even though this practice does not correspond either to the law or to social expediency. As a possible option, we recommend the use of the foreign institution of “joint guardianship” adapted in our system of law as determination of the place of residence of the child on a parity basis.

Abstract:
Lampung’s patriarchal customary law faces severe challenges from the millennial generation, who constitute more than 29% of the total population of Lampung. This challenge is based on the fundamental character of the millennial generation, who are open-minded and obtain the opportunity of having an interethnic marriage. This article maps the dialectic of the public sphere vs. private sphere in millennial families in the Lampung customary law community and how women’s strategies survive the confines of patriarchy. This article explored data from a millennial married couple who live in four districts/cities in Lampung using a qualitative, socio-legal study approach standing with ten principles of marriage on happy family (SMART)’s Khoiruddin Nasution. The findings: The boundaries between the public and the private were no longer tight because husband and wife could work collaboratively, even though there were some challenges due to the dominance of patriarchal mindset in extended families, which was sometimes affirmed, even enjoyed by the husband. However, the subconscious of the millennial family was still patriarchal even though it no longer applied strictly at the practical level. Meanwhile, women survived passively by taking advantage of the economic conditions of their families or changing environments. In addition, the active strategy is to improve formal education; live separately from the extended family; have a stable job (before marriage), and manage working time

Abstract:
Since its democratic revolution was set in motion, Poland has enjoyed tremendous progress in its degree of democratic consolidation. For example, significant institutional changes have taken place in the status of Poland's ethnic, national, and religious minorities. Yet, institutional protections alone do not fully capture the extent of openness to diversity. More comprehensive depictions of the quality of democracy need to encompass investigations of the democratic citizens' “hearts and minds.” In this article, using data from a recent nationally representative survey, the author examines the extent and sources of Poles' tolerance of ethnic and religious difference. She focuses on social tolerance of difference, using questions about acceptance of interethnic and interreligious marriage as the dependent variables. As part of the inquiry, the author compares and contrasts the levels and sources of tolerance of interreligious marriage over time and discusses the political implications of the findings and future research directions.

Abstract:
Child marriage in Pakistan is associated with social, economic, and juridical aspects rather than mere religion. It is an exception to general Islamic law for the best interests of the child. The determination of the legal age of marriage for a child is discussed, but no efficient steps are taken in Pakistan. Marriage is still regulated by an old ambiguous colonial law. Furthermore, penal amendments are introduced with zero implementation. Although child marriage is covered by penal clauses, the courts recognise such marital contracts. Recently, FST (Federal Shariat Court) and IHC (Islamabad High Court) discussed this matter in detail and equalised child marriage as a crime clearly. These courts confirmed the determination of the legal age for marriage according to sharia. Moreover, several contemporary legal principles of Islamic jurisprudence are stressed on this issue. Abstract:
Traditional marriage is actually a bond between men and women who are united through traditional marriage rituals by going through various stages in the custom, as a legal customary marriage process between husband and wife. Customary marriage is not only a bond between husband and wife, but involves the entire extended family of both parties, relatives and tribes or clans who are part of the members of the couple legalized in the customary marriage. Through traditional marriages, kinship and kinship relations are increasing and increasingly displaying a social relationship that creates a familial bond between the two parties. This kinship and kinship relationship is a sign that customary marriage is not only legalizing husband and wife but more than that, embracing the big family and the relationships in the social life of the community become full of brotherly bonds with each other. With traditional marriages that are structured in an area, it is proof that the community is able to maintain and preserve the value of the traditional marriage in social life and is able to provide education to the community and the younger generation to maintain the elements and values ??contained in the traditional marriage. In the midst of increasingly rapid developments, the role of indigenous peoples has become more active in maintaining the nobility of these customary values. Therefore, the participation of all parties in social groups is important because without the involvement of all parties from within the family, community, tribal/clan members, local government and customary stakeholder institutions as well as society in general in social groups, so that cultural heritage cannot be lost. only belongs to individuals but belongs to all people in social groups, because it is a sign and identity of every community in social life.

Abstract:
The Crimea and Sevastopol are considered to be multinational regions, and within them – especially in the Crimea region – such an issue as interethnic and interreligious accord has been relevant at various points in history. With new subjects having joined the Russian Federation, this issue has not become any less relevant. On the contrary, due to new challenges of the modern world, such as extremism and terrorism, this issue has acquired new aspects. On the one hand, there exists the internal matter of the Crimean Tatars in the Crimea and Sevastopol, which needs to be examined within the context of starting an interethnic and inter-confessional dialog, while on the other hand the presence of external challenges prompts to consider developing interethnic and inter-confessional accord among the youth, primarily among college students, them being the most well-organized youth group. In light of this fact, the study conducted in 2017-2019 with financial support from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research within the framework of research project number 17-06-00440/19 and titled “Interethnic and interreligious unity among Crimea and Sevastopol college students: monitoring and analyzing the development level” allows to determine mechanisms for achieving such unity. According to the authors of this work, interethnic unity includes ethnic attitudes, willingness to partake in interethnic contact, which, among other things, develops national and territorial identity. The value component was examined during the course of empirical analysis: traditional values are in fact present in students’ consciousness; professional growth and self-fulfillment were identified as being important, while values attributed to general religious and ethnic interests were deemed insignificant. Also observed were deviations in the process of identity development among young Ukrainians. Observed within this youth group was a low degree of satisfaction with social provisions, the importance of such values as freedom, independence and religious unity; they feel that they belong to their own Ukrainian culture, which differs from Russian culture; for the most part Ukrainians assume that the Russian government cannot effectively protect their sovereignty. The results of this study allowed for determining the structural elements of interethnic and inter-confessional unity within various ethnic youth groups, with regards to components of young people’s national, territorial and cultural identity. The process of developing interethnic and inter-confessional unity within various ethnic groups of Crimea’s youth should be based on principles of regional patriotism, on creating common cultural codes, developing a positive image of Russia, enhancing young people’s economic and social standing, creating opportunity for professional growth together with social lifts, consolidating young people based on generational interests aimed at self-expression and self-fulfillment.

Abstract:
The article considers the legal aspects of socio-economic development of national districts and village councils in the Ukrainian SSR in the 1920 s and 1930 s.It is established that during the 1920 s and 1930 s the legal policy on the socio-economic development of the territories of compact residence of the national minorities of the USSR had different tendencies and different intensity of implementation. At the stage of the establishment of Soviet power, the essence of the national policy of the Bolsheviks was mainly to equalize the rights of representatives of different nationalities. At the same time, national equality in the USSR was enshrined at the constitutional level and proclaimed in all social spheres: political and legal, socio-economic and cultural-national. It was found that the equal redistribution of landholdings of foreign colonists in favour of Ukrainian or Russian peasants led to the liquidation of national parishes and economic decline of national minorities, as well as increased emigration among colonists and laid the groundwork for worsening interethnic relations. It is proved that the policy of indigenization initiated in the mid-1920 s, which extended to the socioeconomic sphere, contributed to the more active involvement of national minorities in productive activities, improving their socio-economic situation, increasing their political activity and culture, overcoming tensions. Sphere of interethnic relations. The refusal of the Soviet leadership in the early 1930 s from the achievements of the national policy of the 1920 s led to growing dissatisfaction among national minorities and protests, as well as aggravated interethnic relations in the USSR. The necessity of taking into account socio-economic factors in the process of legal regulation of interethnic relations is substantiated

Abstract:
The article is an attempt to comprehend the current publications of the Russian media space in the context of various aspects of national and ethnic identity, harmonization of interethnic relations. The authors consider the images of external labor migrants constructed by the media (hereinafter referred to as the media), and the negative attitudes that have developed in society towards them.Aim. The aim of the article is to show the problems of objectivity in the presentation of information about interethnic relations in the Russian media, to determine how publications in the media form the level of tolerance in society, and also to identify the role of the media space in countering the spread of xenophobia, nationalism and neo-fascism.Tasks. To achieve this goal, the article solves several key tasks: the concept of “interethnic relations” is analyzed, the factors determining their state and conflict potential are identified, the mechanism of discursive construction of interethnic relations is revealed, differences in approaches to covering interethnic conflicts in various Russian print and electronic publications are shown.Methods. The methodological basis of the work was the scientific methods of comparative system analysis, aimed at a comprehensive study of the media as a mechanism for regulating interethnic relations. The main method was content analysis of texts of print and electronic federal and regional media, articles, messages, Internet editions, bloggers’ comments, messages on social networks and text messages from various sources reflecting the problems of interethnic relations. Intent analysis of publications made it possible to determine a set of lexemes, the purpose of which is to create a negative image of the subject of the story.Results. Based on the results of the content analysis, the main substantive and evaluative characteristics of interethnic relations in society, the contradictions in the formation of the image of external migrants present in the modern media space and a description of possible interaction strategies that Russian society is ready for at present were identified. The mechanism of discursive construction in the form of texts that provoke emotional perception of external migration over texts that contribute to its rational comprehension has been determined.Conclusions. The analysis showed the weak role of the media in reflecting the problems of interethnic relations. Functionally, the activities of the media are aimed at ensuring interethnic harmony and regulating interethnic relations, however, to a greater extent, negative rhetoric towards foreign migrants prevails in the Russian media, which increases the level of migrant phobia among the population.

Abstract:
Currently, cross-cultural communications actualize the problems of multi-level dialogue, including ethno-cultural, linguistic and psychological aspects. The aim of the study is to study the cultural space of the North Caucasus in the context of the development of intercultural communications. Cross-cultural relations are caused by the interaction of cultures of different ethnic groups, which directly affects the development of social relations. Political, social and economic problems that have emerged in modern Russian society have negatively affected interethnic relations, in particular, in the North Caucasus. Armed conflicts have caused interethnic contradictions and caused great damage to interethnic and intercultural relations. Currently, everything necessary is being done to resolve conflicts. Thus, it is necessary to study modern communication processes, as well as the peculiarities of intercultural interactions in the North Caucasus. Currently, mutual intercultural communication in the dialogue of cultures sometimes leads to conflict situations. Its development leads not only to social peace and harmony, political agreement, but also to the settlement of inter-ethnic relations. Ways to resolve them will be more successful if ethnic groups have a social and national culture, the main task of which will be the settlement of various conflicts, the maintenance of peace and harmony. In the study of cross-cultural communications, the problem of preserving cultural identity is actualized. Among the peoples of the North Caucasus, a special role is played by socio-cultural communication, in particular, at the intercultural, intergroup and interpersonal levels.

This study analyses the timing of first entry into marriage of Hungarian men and women born between 1916 and 1967. Marriages take place at a considerably earlier age than the West European average, and at the same time show significant differences between cohorts. In the course of the analysis we consider the social and economic circumstances which affect the timing of entry into marriage, and we connect the variables of men and women's educational attainment with their age at marriage. In each cohort we examine the sociological characteristics of those who marry significantly earlier or later than the average for their generation, i.e. than the “normal” age.

Abstract:
The paper analyzes Russian and foreign experience in studying the problems of interethnic and interreligious tolerance. Special attention is paid to the essence of the sociological approach to the concept of "tolerance". Different approaches to this term by domestic and foreign scientists make it possible to determine the multidimensionality of this concept and differentiate it by the problem principle, highlighting the social, interethnic, interreligious, gender, cultural components, which are associated with political, ethnic and cultural spheres of social interaction. The author focuses on the need for an interdisciplinary approach to the study of interethnic and interreligious tolerance, involving the coordinated application of modern methods of sociology, social psychology and philosophy. The article deals with interethnic and interreligious tolerance as a social value, which serves as a strategy of interaction in a multicultural region (on the example of the Volgograd region). This strategy can not only prevent the development of conflicts on ethno-religious basis, but also become a consolidating idea of interaction of different social communities. The article also analyzes the results of the study of the level of tolerance in the Volgograd region within the framework of the scientific project of 2019 "Preservation and transmission of regional values as a condition of modernization of the sociocultural landscape of the modern Russian region", which is devoted to the study of different aspects of life of the Volgograd region residents. The standard method "Sociocultural landscape of the region", developed by a group of sociologists of Volgograd State University under the guidance of the author of the article, was used as the fundamental one. Based on the data from the formalized interview with residents of the region, the specifics of the Volgograd region as an integral sociocultural landscape in the context of the sociocultural space of Russia are analyzed. Special attention in the study is paid to the level of tolerance of the population to representatives of other nationalities and religions. The author concludes that joint conflict-free and tolerant attitude towards each other can become a new value in the region under study.

Abstract:
Child marriages are one of the most improtant reasons of gender inequality in the family in Turkey, as well as a widespread social problem we face is seen all over the world. This situation increases the need for child marriages to be viewed from a different dimension to the phenomenon and to reveal all aspects of this problem. The issue of child marriages are being addressed in the literature in recent years has been the subject of research in different disciplines, but most of the work is focused on a single dimension of child marriage or depending on the specific area it seems they are trying to identify child marriage. In current study, although carried to contribute to the debate on the concept of child marriage, legal issues, medical, economic, social and political dimensions are presented with an integrated approach. In present study, it has been found that child marriages are an important result of observed gender inequalities in social, political, and economic life and child marriages have been found to cause to continue the gender inequality on women’s lives. However, the cultural codes, values and inequalities, the deterioration of the family structure, social movements, and migration are seen to have an impact on child marriages. In this study, many suggestions are offered to solve the problem of child marriages such as ensuring gender equality in childhood, abandoning conditioning on gender roles, and increasing education level and the law enforcement.

Abstract:
Every social phenomenon has its own "life" cycle from origin and development to termination. It's the same with marriage. However, the termination of marriage should not produce negative consequences primarily for children, as subjects who did not decide on the formation or termination of marriage, but also for the family as a community of special social interest. That is why the institution of mediation has been established in the legal order, as a kind of "therapeutic" institute that should help overcome all the negative consequences of the end of a marriage, both on the part of the children and the spouse. The paper, therefore, emphasizes the constitutional foundations of marriage and the family, with a special focus on mediation before divorce, intending to analyze normative solutions and their application in practice, and offering de lege ferenda proposals in the existing constitutional and legal frameworks to help people when solving possible misunderstandings that can weaken marital bonds and destabilize the entire family system with their negative consequences. We focused special attention on the advantage of mediation in resolving marital disputes, and the most common contents of mediation during divorce are also listed. If problems arise in the marriage due to which it cannot survive, thereby losing its function, the spouses initiate a divorce case before the competent court. Before making the final decision on divorce, the spouses are obliged to turn to a competent mediator who will provide them with the necessary assistance to determine the possibility of survival of the marital union. To collect the highest quality data, empirical research was conducted in cooperation with centers for social work throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, which we used when analyzing the current situation and synthesizing conclusions to improve it.

Abstract:
This literature review examines the psychosocial aspects involved in parenting a child with autism. Parenting a child with autism not only has an impact upon the parents' psychological well-being, but the family and marriage systems as well. Research suggests that depression and stress levels are significantly higher in parents of children with autism than in parents of typically developing children. The literature available also shows that there is a negative correlation between stress and marriage quality for parents of children with autism. Financial stress is also common as treatments for autism are typically expensive. These findings suggest the importance of rehabilitation counselors in assessing the social networks and social supports of parents of children with autism, as well as providing them with professional and educational support.

Abstract:
Arguments opposing same-sex marriage are often made on religious grounds. In five studies conducted in the United States and Canada (combined N = 1,673), we observed that religious opposition to same-sex marriage was explained, at least in part, by conservative ideology and linked to sexual prejudice. In Studies 1 and 2, we discovered that the relationship between religiosity and opposition to same-sex marriage was mediated by explicit sexual prejudice. In Study 3, we saw that the mediating effect of sexual prejudice was linked to political conservatism. Finally, in Studies 4a and 4b we examined the ideological underpinnings of religious opposition to same-sex marriage in more detail by taking into account two distinct aspects of conservative ideology. Results revealed that resistance to change was more important than opposition to equality in explaining religious opposition to same-sex marriage.

This article studies social dynamics in the Catalan region of Girona during the second half of the eighteenth and the first half of the nineteenth centuries, using marriage contracts signed before a notary. The analysis of this source reveals the existence of important social and economic changes, especially among the lowest groups of rural society. Among these transformations, the increase in the real value of dowries – especially in the case of treballadors (literally labourers) – stands out particularly, as does the appearance of new labels applied to new social groups. However, these changes occurred without altering the basic aspects of marriage patterns of the different social groups, as indicated by the strong stability of levels of social and geographical endogamy.

Greater numbers of persons will enter retirement outside of marriage or with a checkered marital history. Given the traditional health benefits of marriage, these changes in the population's marital life course may foretell changing demands for eldercare in addition to adverse health consequences. Here, the authors provide new evidence on the specific aspects of health associated with marriage for a nationally representative survey of retirement age adults. An important aspect of the authors' analysis is the assessment of whether the benefits of marriage hold equally for women and men, major race/ethnic groups, and persons with different marital histories. Data from the Health and Retirement Survey are used to evaluate how marriage is associated with major chronic illnesses, functional limitations, and disability. Findings document that marriage benefits health across a broad spectrum of fatal and nonfatal chronic disease conditions, functioning problems, and disabilities. Moreover, benefits of marriage are widely shared across demographic groups.

Abstract:
AbstractHow does segregation along ethnic boundaries emerge in social networks? Human evolution resulted in highly social beings, capable of prosociality, mindreading, and self-control, which are important aspects of the “social brain.” Our neurophysiologically “wired” social cognition implies different cognitive goal frames. In line with recent developments in behavioral theory, the present study defines network ties as episodes of social exchange. This dynamic definition can account for shifts in goal frames during an exchange episode: whereas deliberate choice and hedonic or gain goals drive the initiation of a tie, given the opportunity structure, the normative goal frame activates a strong dynamic effect of reciprocity, which limits actors’ choice set and appears as “self-organization” at the network level. Longitudinal analyses of 18 birthday party networks comprising 501 students support the definition of network ties as exchange episodes, as well as the relevance of humans’ inherent tendency to reciprocate. However, reciprocation is much stronger in dyads of the same ethnicity than in dyads of different ethnicities. Network segregation along ethnic boundaries results from deliberate decisions during the initiation of an episode, but also from different commitments to reciprocity during the ongoing exchange process, depending on intra or interethnic dyadic constellations.

Abstract:
Marriage is one of the oldest universal micro social institutions which are established by human society as an essential social structure for gaining more benefit in the social and functioning aspects. It provides the legal rights of regular sexual intercourse, producing of the offspring socially, religiously and legally. Abstract:
Marriage guidance in Islam starts with an explanation of how to choose a potential mate before knitting a marriage bond. Many people observe that the guidance given by Islam is only oriented to the fulfillment of the spiritual aspects and ignores the material aspects which are the means of human life, especially the fulfillment of mental or psychological aspects. This study seeks to analyze the criteria for choosing prospective marriage partners in Islam through the perspective of the psychology of Islamic families. As a new theory, Islamic family psychology has considerable urgency in interpreting the Shari'a rules on family law in a more humane manner, and at the same time to identify mental phenomena that affect the achievement of the objectives of Islamic marriage law. The results of this study state that from a psychological perspective, criteria for choosing a potential partner in an Islamic marriage are still quite relevant and truly influence one's personality in the course of a married life. Actualization of the candidates to choose the candidate pair includes judgments: (1) material aspects in the form of wealth ma> liyyah), social status (h {asabiyyah), beauty or good looks (jasadiyyah); (2) spiritual aspects in the form of a prospective partner's religion; and (3) aspects of comparability or kafa>, especially the perspective and life mission of the prospective spouse.
