Abstract:
The use of aluminum nitride as a substrate material for microelectronics is examined. A brief look at thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of aluminum nitride show that it is a viable alternative material for this use. A study of the interfaces between aluminum nitride and several thick film pastes (palladium silver conductor, ruthenium oxide resistor, and gold conductor) was performed with optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy. Results of this investigation showed that the contaminants in the substrate material that affect thermal conductivity do not affect the adhesion of the thick film pastes. However, it was found that the lack of certain elements in the binder of the thick film paste could lead to weaker adhesion, and severe degradation of the thick film's adhesion during thermal cycling.

Integrated resource planning aims to fulfil electricity requirements with supply and demand resources. Least cost resources are optimised as supply expansions compete with measures to modify the load in meeting energy services. A demand side study is conducted to determine representative load profiles for electricity use within South Africa. Analysis of electricity consumption us in g load profiles of each sector ' s end-use electrical loads is essential for determining the appropriate supply technologies as well as the impact of demand side management and energy efficiency measures . A supply side study considers all existing and future power generation options required for expected electricity growth and system load characteristics. Energy model, TIMES, provides time-slices for adequate load profile representation TIMES is a Partial Dynamic Equilibrium Model as constraints are placed on the investment, usage and availability of technologies. All optimisations are for the least cost to the system. Demand and supply options are integrated into a single plan using the TIMES model and the supply expansion plan is changed when demand reduction targets are achieved using DSM and EE. The base case us in g a business-as-usual approach is compared with a low and medium impact DSM and EE scenario. Demand resources are estimated from the industrial, commercial and residential economic sectors. The scope of the plan is 22 years and there is full utilisation of all existing supply capacity with small amounts of decommissioning. Mothballed power stations are recommissioned initially. Peak-load plants are needed from 2007 and OCGT are selected using natural gas or LNG. Intermediate-load capacity is needed by 2011 using CCGT. Base-load capacity demands are met using new coal PF power stations in 2014. FBC stations using discard coal begin operation in 2016. The capacity expansion plan anticipates 2. 93GW of OCGT, 2.5 GW of CCGT, 7. 2GW of coal PF, 2. 8 GW of FBC plants and 2 GW of pump storage stations to be in use by 2020. Imported hydroelectric capacity of0.9 G W and PBMR capacity of3 GW is expected to be commissioned by 2024. Approximately 4 % less installed capacity is needed when a medium impact DSM and EE strategy is implemented. The marginal cost of energy gradually increases from 0. 06 R/kWh in 2002 to 0. 175 R/kWh in 2016 and to 0.325 R/kWh in 2024 as supply capacity is added. Compound load profiles from all national electricity usage provide an effective means whereby appropriate supply technologies are selected whilst incorporating load modifications due to DSM and EE.

Our generation of computational scientists is living in an exciting time: not only do we get to pioneer important algorithms and computations, we also get to set standards on how computational research should be conducted and published. From Euclid’s reasoning and Galileo’s experiments, it took hundreds of years for the theoretical and experimental branches of science to develop standards for publication and peer review. Computational science, rightly regarded as the third branch, can walk the same road much faster. The success and credibility of science are anchored in the willingness of scientists to expose their ideas and results to independent testing and replication by other scientists. This requires the complete and open exchange of data, procedures and materials. The idea of a “replication by other scientists” in reference to computations is more commonly known as “reproducible research”. In this context the journal “EAI Endorsed Transactions on Performance & Modeling, Simulation, Experimentation and Complex Systems” had the exciting and original idea to make the scientist able to submit simultaneously the article and the computation materials (software, data, etc..) which has been used to produce the contents of the article. The goal of this procedure is to allow the scientific community to verify the content of the paper, reproducing it in the platform independently from the OS chosen, confirm or invalidate it and especially allow its reuse to reproduce new results. This procedure is therefore not helpful if there is no minimum methodological support. In fact, the raw data sets and the software are difficult to exploit without the logic that guided their use or their production. This led us to think that in addition to the data sets and the software, an additional element must be provided: the workflow that relies all of them.

Poor rural communities of South Africa frequently face shortages of convenient, affordable energy services. Sub-sectoral energy interventions that are not properly coordinated with each other and with the development context are unlikely to address the problems effectively. The methodology of 'integrated rural energy planning' (IREP) is a possible means of achieving this coordination. This process encompasses a new paradigm which is an improvement on the supply-driven thinking of the past. It seeks to overcome anomalies in the rural energy system in a way that places the final users of energy services at its centre, that coordinates planning between different energy sub-sectors, and integrates energy planning with economic planning processes. It emphasises continuity, efficient utilisation of resources, and genuine participation of rural people. Although originally designed for the energy sector as a whole, the theoretical methodology is applicable to rural regions of developing countries with only small modifications. International and local experience in IREP is not extensive, but it nevertheless provides valuable lessons regarding methodological and institutional requirements. The current trends in the institutional framework in South Africa show that while there are many obstacles to implementing an IREP process, there are also many unique aspects which suggest that an IREP process could be very effective. It seems clear that an appropriate way forward would be to launch a well-resourced and strategically-located initiative that would investigate, with care and foresight, the potential and relevance of an IREP process in South Africa.

This thesis presents the design of a vision framework integrated into a robotics research and development platform. The vision system was implemented as part of the software platform developed by the Personal Robots Group at the MIT Media Lab. Featuring representations for images and camera sensors, this system provides a structure that is used to build robot vision applications. One application shows how to merge the representations of two different cameras in order to create a camera entity that provides images with fused depth-color data. The system also allows the integration of computer vision algorithms that can be used to extract perceptual information from the robot's surroundings. Two more applications show detection and tracking of human face and body pose using depth-color images.

Abstract:
A novel experimental facility for the testing of modern high pressure nozzle guide vanes, the Annular Sector Heat Transfer Facility, is described in this thesis. Non- dimensionally similar conditions to a thermal paint test are reproduced, in a warm flow field, by the use of actual engine hardware, contoured sidewalls, and an innova- tive system of deswirl vanes in a five-passage annular sector cascade. External Mach and Reynolds numbers, inlet turbulence intensity, and coolant-to-mainstream pres- sure ratio are all matched to engine conditions. The test vanes are heavily cooled both internally (by convection and impingement) and externally (by film cooling). Detailed aerodynamic measurements are discussed, which demonstrate that a peri- odic, transonic, and highly engine-realistic flow is established in the cascade. High resolution full coverage maps of overall cooling effectiveness are presented, acquired on the vane surfaces at steady state conditions by wide-band liquid crys- tals and infrared thermography. Experimental measurements are then scaled to en- gine conditions by a new theoretical procedure, argued from first principles, which extends the principle of superposition to fully-cooled compressible flows. A newly- defined recovery temperature is proposed, which accounts for the redistribution of heat between the internal and external vane flows in a fully-integrated manner. This technique makes the results analogous to those of a thermal paint test, but allows for fundamental research and early and inexpensive cooling system validation. Overall cooling effectiveness measurements are complemented by those of the re- quired cooling flow capacity to achieve them, conducted in a second test rig commis- sioned during this research: the Flow Testing Facility. To conclude, the approach developed is applied to the global thermal assessment of the dendritic geometry, an innovative turbine cooling system. Experimental results show promising benefits over the baseline vane, especially in regions of low coolant-to-mainstream pressure margin.

Mathematics permeates almost every aspect of human life and it is a skill much needed by the increasingly complex technological world. It is necessary that this essential skill must be properly developed among students to prepare them for future academic and professional careers. An assessment of the research-based instructional strategies blending with old traditional methods with the modern technological development is a must. Due to the complexity of mathematics learning and the varied learning styles of learners, an integration of appropriate multiple instructional strategies into mathematics education will positively impact mathematical achievement of students. The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of the use of Integrated Technologies Instructional Method (ITIM) as a supplement to the traditional lecture method on mathematics achievement of the Integral Calculus students at the College of Engineering, University of Ha'il, Saudi Arabia. The ITIM includes the four instructional strategies such as the use of the Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning, the collaborative learning, the bilingual support and the study support. Different types of academic supports have been used to examine their effects on students achievement in mathematics. Mathematics, the bedrock of science and engineering, is considered a very important indicator of a student's academic success in professional higher education. Undergraduate engineering students' low achievement in the first year mathematics is an issue demands much attention. The study was undertaken to address students' weak background in mathematics and particularly their high failure rates in this particular course. A total of 218 undergraduate engineering students, comprising of both the experimental and the control groups, were involved in this experimental design study. The control group was taught by the traditional lecture method whereas the experimental group was exposed to the ITIM as a supplement to the traditional lecture method. Apart from the effects of the use of ITIM, students' performance in the previous courses (covariates) such as mathematics, computer, and the English language were compared with their final grades of the Integral Calculus course. The final grades of students were taken as the dependent variable and the ITIM and students' scores in the previous courses as the independent variables. It has been noticed from the literature review that the application of only one instructional strategy does not address the needs of the diverse learning styles of students. A mixed mode method, quantitative and qualitative, was used to collect and analyse data. The quantitative data instruments included students' final exam grades and the student questionnaires. Interviews with students were used as qualitative tools of data collection. An independent t-test, ANOVA, univariate analysis and the stepwise multiple regression analysis were performed to determine the overall statistical significance. The study concluded that there was a statistically significant difference in the performance of the experimental group of students' in terms of their end-of-course grades compared to that of the control group. The regression model revealed significance of covariates on the dependent variable. However, no significant relationship was found between the mathematics achievement and attitudes towards the use of ITIM. The study was an attempt to demonstrate the suitability of the instructional strategies on the bilingual Arab undergraduate engineering students; however, they can probably be applicable to other bilingual students.

With the advancement of technologies, earth observation data could be obtained with finer spatial and spectral resolution. However, the increasing volume and complexity of those high resolution data presents new challenges in geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) research, such as heterogeneous distributed data handling, efficient parallel data processing algorithms, and easy manageability of the underlying cyberinfrastructure, new collaboration model and lower computation costs. Geospatial cloud computing is leveraged in GIS/RS research to address the challenges of heterogeneous distributed data and its processing. Although the early experience has proven it is a great success to utilize cloud computing in GIS/RS research, the manageability of the cyberinfrastructure cannot be neglected. To be manageable, I argue that cloud computing must handle domain specific problems in GIS/RS, manage privacy of data, ease of use, and be inexpensive. In thesis I propose IHC3—integrated hybrid cloud computing cyberinfrastructure for advanced scalability and easy manageability in GIS/RS cyberinfrastructure research. IHC3 is designed to seamlessly integrate the computing resource of local hardware with public cloud providers, and it can dynamically adjust the boundary of private and public cloud with respect to the variable workload. A set of functionalities to simplify the image data processing, analysis, and visualization in GIS/RS research are also implemented in IHC3. I use MODIS data re-projection experiment with IHC3 to evaluate IHC3's performance, and compare the execution time and computation costs with single desktop, private cloud and Amazon EC2. The experiment proves that IHC3 is an effective platform for GIS/RS research, and it can offload the onerous system administration work from GIS/RS scientists, providing them with a tool for enhancing their research.
Avec l'avancement des technologies, des données d'observation de la terre pourrait être obtenu avec une résolution spatiale et spectrale plus fine. Toutefois, le volume et la complexité croissantes de ces données à haute résolution présente de nouveaux défis en matière de système d'information géographique (SIG) et télédétection (RS) de recherche, tels que la manipulation des données distribuées hétérogènes, parallèle efficace des algorithmes de traitement de données, la gestion facile des cyberinfrastructure sous-jacente, nouveau modèle de collaboration et de coût de calcul inférieur. Géospatiales cloud computing ont un effet de levier en matière de SIG / RS de recherche pour relever les défis de données hétérogènes distribués et son traitement. Bien que les premières expériences ont prouvé qu'il est un grand succès d'utiliser le cloud computing dans les SIG / RS recherche, la gestion de l'cyberinfrastructure ne peut pas être négligée. Pour être gérable, je soutiens que le cloud computing doit traiter les problèmes domaine spécifique en matière de SIG / RS, de gérer la confidentialité des données, la facilité d'utilisation, et d'être peu coûteux. Ainsi, dans cet article je propose IHC3 intégrée cyberinfrastructure hybrides de cloud computing pour l'évolutivité de pointe et maniabilité facile dans la recherche cyberinfrastructure SIG / RS. IHC3 s'intègre de façon transparente les ressources de calcul du local de matériel avec les fournisseurs de cloud public, et il pourrait ajuster dynamiquement la limite de cloud privé et public à l'égard de la charge de travail variable. Un ensemble de fonctionnalités pour simplifier le traitement des données d'image, l'analyse et la visualisation de SIG / RS de recherche sont également mis en œuvre dans IHC3. Je utilise des données MODIS re-projection expérimenter avec IHC3 pour évaluer la performance IHC3, et de comparer les temps d'exécution et les coûts de calcul avec le bureau unique, nuage privé et Amazon EC2. The value of Internet is to improve the utility generated by users using the Internet, to mutually share and exchange the information to save costs. The Internet possesses diversity and high expansion. Its history of development is from wireless, narrowband to broadband, and changes human lifestyles. Its features are freely mobile, diversified, real time, continuous and interactive, and it also reflects the real world, resulting in null time lag for communication. With constant innovations and evolvements, it started a practical information science. This study aims at the Internet development, and has used the secondary data for explorative study. It tries to predict the future by using the past experience. The result of study analysis obtains three significant changes: "Information Internet", "Mobile Internet" and "Internet of Things (IoT)". The connections of these 3 generations are starting from Point (every terminal equipment of IoT), connecting to Line (Internet Cable/Line), then expanding to Plane (Service Platform). The 3 main structures in innovation application are Safe Healthy, Intelligent Commerce and Life Education/Recreation, and also extend to 6 applications, including Safety, Medical Treatment, Payment, Logistics, Recreation and Transportation. The dynamic evolutions among the internet and every kind of mobile devices eliminate the differences in time and space. With the opening and constant innovations and applications, it drives every consumptive issue to predict the blueprint of internet future development. Multi-functional integration in digitalization and visualization will cause next new information revolution along with overall communications and connections. Therefore, Internet, Mobile Internet and IoT (Internet of Things) will be combined as one. New communication methods allow mobile devices to connect the internet in every means. Personal information and privacy are exposed due to the Internet. The information safety must be taken into consideration, so every road to connect digitally in future is necessary to be built upon the basis of information safety.

The purpose of the study is to develop a low power laser machining device system, using independently-developed laser driver to control the 5W 445nm diode laser to achieve 256 level and linear power control. It can also be compatible with a lot of open source controllers and I/O modules to do laser driver control and further improves a previous problem that the low-power laser diode drive control is difficult to integrate with the peripheral system. In addition, in order to do 8bit gray scale image engraving and confirm the effectiveness of the software and hardware system integration, we used PC Based frame to do multi-system integration and control the laser and servo motor drive system. In our study, to improve the problem that the depth of the engraving image is not obvious at the 8-bit power control of the laser, we use the power, time and engraving spot distance as the processing parameters and import laser power in time control. Our research has revealed that we can achieve the best engraving image quality with 5W 256 power level control of the pulsed laser reaction control, at engraving spot distance 0.6mm, and pulse time 50ms - 255ms combined together.

In this thesis, we focus on the coordination mech- anism of a computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW) system. To proceed the communication among multiple users, the collaboration relationship and interaction analysis of a CSCW system are designed to integrate several works, including privilege management, floor control, concurrency control, and consistency control. In the analysis of the coordination works of a CSCW system, this thesis utilizes coordination model, Petri Net, and collaboration analysis diagram. After these analyses, group management and token control are used in the coordination work. For the general coordi- nator mechanism, an integrated architecture is proposed under the distributed environment. This coordinator is able to control system resources and to manage group activities of this CSCW system. An experimental system, Expert-Based Emergency Medical Service (EBEMS), and its integrated coordinator is constructed to prove our ideas. This integrated coordinator undertakes all the designated coordination works. This Expert-Based Emergency Medical Service is an experiment about telemedicine. This system is built on a distributed environment and its user interfaces possess multimedia displays.

Due to the importance and need of giving managers an overall tool for supporting the decision making process from a more general perspective, the present research introduces integrated multi-criteria approaches for decision making problems and applications. The aspect of this dissertation is to address two key studies. One of studies relates to the performance evaluation of the multiple manufacturing plants. This study develops an integrated approach that combines the voting method based on modified DEA and the fuzzy TOPSIS method to evaluate the performance of multiple manufacturing plants in a fuzzy environment. Fuzzy TOPSIS helps decision makers carry out analysis and comparisons in ranking their preference of the alternatives with vague or imprecise data. Since the evaluation result is often greatly affected by the weights used in the evaluation process, the voting method is used in this study to determine the appropriate criteria weights. The other study relates to the identification of key factors in improving the service quality of nursing homes. This study looks at improving the service quality in nursing homes as well as the intricate relationships between various factors. We use two research models herein. First, Interpretive Structural Modeling establishes the criteria for the inter-relationship structure, categorized according to their driving power and dependence. This methodology provides a means by which order can be imposed on the complexity of such criteria. Insights from this model can help top managers in strategic planning to improve the service quality in nursing home care. Second, because ISM does not provide any weighting associated with the criteria, we employ the Analytic Network Process approach to calculate the weighted importance of the key factors and to identify those factors impacting the service quality of nursing home care.

Chaos theory is one of the most important discovery of science in this century. It cover all area of science, and govern allover macroscopic behavior of various dynamic system. The scientists and engineers of different area including no matter astronomy, aerography, geography,physics , chemistry, biology, medicine, applied engineering, or economy, and so on, are trying to re-explore the truth of nature by the new concept. However, It's often necessary for the use of computer to simulate and analyze chaotic phenomena or chaotic theory. Therefore, it's very needed a useful software package for chaotic research and education. But the function of present software we collect are deficient and not perfect. The researcher can't use them to simulate arbitrary dynamical system model who want to study. So we decide to develop a integrated research package supporting Windows operating system for the use of research and education. When user input differential or difference equation system, the software can plot time waveform, phase plane, power spectrum, Poincare map, basin of attraction, fractal dimension, Lyapunov exponents, etc., at the screen. In this thesis, the process and consideration of developing such a package is presented. Also note that the limitation of simulation─unavoidable error introduced in simulating continuous-time systems. So simulation data must be interpreted carefully. The subject of chaotic dynamics is boundless and full of stimulation and challenge. We hope that the success of developing such software can introduce more and more people into the beautiful world of chaotic dynamics.

This thesis tries to implement the Chua’s circuit in the environment of the integrated circuit with TSMC 0.18um CMOS process. We perform the analysis and simulation of Chua''s circuit. We also use the memristor to replace the nonlinear resistance of Chua''s circuit. We perform the simulations voltage and current waveforms to investigate the Chua’s circuit characteristics by using simulation software tools, such as Virtuoso, Laker and HSpice. Finally, we compare the results with chip measurements. The main contents of this paper are as follows: The second chapter describes the architecture of passive components in integrated circuit environment using "0.18um 1.8V/3.3V 1P6M Virtual Mixed Mode/RFCMOS" process. We implement the resistor, the capacitor, the inductor and diode. We explain the composition of those passive components and their basic characteristics. The third chapter describes the basic structure of the Chua''s circuit and circuit equations. We implement the NMOS to form astable oscillator. We finish the pre-simulation and post-simulation. In addition, the chip results are measured. In chapter four, we use the Chau’s circuit in chapter 3. But, the nonlinear negative resistance in chapter is replaced with memristor. Then, we explore the memristor circuit. It consists with the operational amplifier (OPA), the multiplier, in addition with the appropriate ratio of resistors and capacitors. We design the operational amplifier with two-stage structure in CMOS. We also design the multiplier. Finally, measurements results are performed.

The cable TV media has been rapidly changed, therefore, the marketing strategy turned from the integrated ways, the traditional 4Ps--product, place, price and promotion to 4Cs (consumer, cost, convenience, communications), that is, taking the audience as the operational focal by ‘understanding consumers’ demand and their willingness to pay’, and ‘communication with the consumer’ as well as ‘pondering the convenience for consumer to purchase.’ This kind of Integrated Marketing Communications concept has already gradually utilized in the domestic media marketing strategy. However, domestically, this kind of strategy research is rarely used in finance channel. This research will aim at the use of Integrated Marketing Communications concept for finance channel, and analyze it. Moreover, under the competition of the cable TV market, cable television must establish conforms segment concept, by the way of the professionals’ medium management and vertical development to maintain program quality and control audience’s receiving behaviors. Therefore, channel segmentation and the content’s quality have been the important way to attract the audience, and become the way to survive. How the finance channel separates the localization to enhance the quality is also precisely one of reasons which this research wants to discuss. On the other hand, in the marketplace where both foreign and domestic channels are under fierce, the way that Taiwan’s domestic finance channel to use the marketing strategy to stay alive and to make any impact, is also the focal point of this research.

Design for social interaction is a major challenge in multi-user systems, large-scale service and social platform development. However, established user experience methodology and sociological theories applied in computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW) and human-computer interaction (HCI) currently are narrow in scope. Both researchers and designers systematically overlook macro-level socio-cultural issues that may have significant implications for how well a system is received by its final users. I argue for the necessity of an integrated viewpoint, which considers both micro-level and macro-level phenomena in design research. Through three case studies covering different cultures and topics, this work presents what benefits can be gained from having an integrated viewpoint in social interaction and service design, and also shows that the multi-level social activity model (MLSAM) is capable of complementing the established methods with such a viewpoint. The improvements to the model to increase its utility are also discussed. In addition, based on reflections of three cases, a more effective approach for identifying use types and portraying users in iterative design cycles is discussed in this study.

Abstract This research aims to construct a theory for integrated arts curriculum through analysis and exploration of relevant literatures review such as Issues of Contemporary Art Education, The Current Thoughts and Directions of Art Education Reform in Taiwan, The Relationship between Community and Art Education, and The Designs of Integrated Art Education. The theory that developed was used in the design and implementation of the Tian-mu Community-Based Integrated Art Curriculum, which was developed to guide students in the exploration of the environment and characteristics of the place they live in, as well as the understanding of the culture of their community. Its aim is also to reinforce the students’ participation in their community, in the expectation of bringing the students to value and develop the cultural resources of their community. This study adopts the Action Research Method to integrate the teaching research, which is further supplemented by the Literature Review Method to explore the rational of the theory. The design of the research project is based on the Tian-mu Community as implemented through its integrated art curriculum. The whole teaching process was recorded and the results were analyzed and explored through the Content Analysis Method. This research starts from the exploration of art-related educational theories. The objectives in developing a community-based integrated art curriculum are as follows I. To explore the possible role and meaning of community-based integrated art curriculum in primary education through the exploration of the Issues of Contemporary Art Education and the contents of the Integrated Nine-Year Curriculum. II. To evaluate the structure and implementation model of community-based integrated art curriculum and transform it into a school-based integrated art educational program. III. To explore the interactive and mutually influencing relationships among the teachers, students, and instructional materials through the design and implementation of the community-based integrated art curriculum; the results will serve as a reference for the development and structuring of an integrated primary art curriculum. Based on the above objectives, this research made the following conclusions and suggestions: I. A community-based integrated art curriculum is helpful to students in developing their self identify and a sense of caring for the environment and the culture of their community. II. Replacing misconceptions produced by medium and consumerism, the integrated curriculum should present the diversity of contemporary arts. III. The design and teaching of the integrated art curriculum should depart from the myth of “integrating for the purpose of integration.” IV. Teaching theories should be closely linked to actual teaching and program planning; teachers should be able to utilize action research to improve the effectiveness of teaching

Action Research of First Graders’ Integrated Activity Curriculum Abstract The purpose of this research is to explore the issues of integrated activity curriculum in the first year of implementation, which includes the process, difficulties encountered, and reasons of difficulties. Through action research, the researchers’ findings, listed as the following, were obtained through observation, self-introspection, interviews, and document analysis. 1. It is difficult to achieve student-focused learning objective with integrated activity textbooks. 2. The teachers become over-reliant on textbooks, which over-emphasizes the authority of a textbook, thus making the focus of “co-constructive curriculum” difficult. 3. The focuses of the curriculum, “experience, introspection, and meaning constructions”, are difficult to observe with the implementation of integrated activity curriculum makes. 4. The textbooks are used to implement integrated activity curriculum, and the results reaches fidelity perspective rather than enactment perspective. 5. The integrated activity curriculum composed by teachers tend to be more relevant to students’ life and environment, which can enact students as learning focuses. 6. The integrated activity curriculum composed by teachers according to school features can better approach enactment prospective for implementation.。 7. Currently in Taiwan, industrial chemicals are regulated by different government authorities according to their applications and properties. However, effective chemical substances management is highly challenging due to large quantities of existing and new chemicals, wide scope of chemical use, and complexities for regulating the import and export of chemical substances. This study attempts to develop an integrated management scheme and approach to achieve effective management of industrial chemicals to prevent harms to the general public and the environment in the life cycle of high-risk industrial chemicals. Basis for this study are international chemical management systems or directives such as SAICM (Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management), REACH(Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances), GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals), ILO Convention, IPCS (International Programme on Chemical Safety), OECD (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, OECD), RC (Responsible Care), and regulations on chemical substances of developed countries such as America, Japan, Germany, New Zealand, and Australia. The proposed integrated management scheme of industrial chemicals is designed after careful comparision of national industrial chemicals management regulations, chemicals registration and database requirements, chemical risk assessment management, workplace safety rules on the use of chemical substances and competent authorities for chemical management in Taiwan. A case study, using the chemical substances management practices of a world class chemical company, is conducted to outline the basic principles of the proposed management system. It is expected to provide the experience of the established integrated industrial chemicals management system and approach to industrial chemicals enterprises by its characteristics of the international chemical management tendency compliance. It is believed that objectives of integrated industrial chemicals management can be achieved through registration and a chemical substances database, risk assessment and management, regulations, implementation of chemicals self-management system, establishment of chemical hazard analysis labs and a centralized chemicals management organization, etc. Implementation strategy, benefits and limitations of the proposed integrated industrial chemicals management system are also presented.

This dissertation shows that the engineering information system (EIS) is the primary integration mechanism in computer integrated manufacturing. The EIS has been defined by creating a functional as well as an information model. These models are the initial steps in the process of implementing an EIS by means of a database management system. The modelling of the EIS is defined within a work brealcdown structure for CIM acquisition which is applicable to any CIM project. The impact of the scope CIM of and the changes this requires are also defined. It is also shown that for an enterprise involved in the manufacture of complex systems it is more beneficial to introduce CIM in those areas outside the area of factory automation, The complexity of the EIS information model is such that it has not been possible to construct it manually. Automated tools should be used to create the EIS information model.

The main objective of this research is to put CAL into a simulated usage of Multitester for studying the learning process of science integrated skills.A courseware,based upon the situated learning theory,for instruction hypermedia is designed to carry out this program. 10 subjects are randomly adopted from freshman physics students of National Kaohsiung normal university.Two of them are for pretest,the others for formal testing individually. The learning process were recorded down with computer and videotape through the whole period of testing. Three patterns of learning style and two kinds of misconception are derived under data processing and analyzing. Three patterns of learning style are: (1) whole comprehensive learning,(2) glanced comprehensive learning,(3) serial operational learning. Two kinds of misconception are: (1) Multitester operational skills,(2) Multitester electric cognitive concept. Three conclusions are found as follows: 1.The electric knowledge schema of learner will effect his learning style of integrated science process skills in Multitester. 2.The electric misconception are due to the reason that students couldn''t bring electric theory into practice for an electric circuit. 3.The courseware,developed in this study,surely assists students to achieve the objective of learning integrated science process skills of Mulitester.

With the increasing circuit complexity and IC density, testing has played a more and more important role for the semiconductor industry. Testing has shifted from the final fabricated IC stage to the design stage. In any event, test engineering is an indispensable part of the IC manufacturing process. What is testing? Testing means a standard or criteria by which the quality of the chip conforms to. The objective of testing is to check whether the device meets the design specification or not. As the complexity of IC increasing, the cost of testing usually takes up a relatively high percentage of the total IC manufacturing cost. “How to test the device cheaply and accurately?” becomes one important topic. This paper performs a detailed view of the testing process and discusses different types of testing methods including DC test, function test, and design for test systematically. Finally experimental results present two cases study. Case 1 performs the detailed practical flow of one test program development from the first load board design to the final test program implement. Case 2 presents the device characterization under different temperatures.

Research on the nonlinear monolithic microwave integrated (MMIC) circuits using injection-locking technique is presented in this dissertation. A broadband class-E power amplifier (PA) using a reactance compensation technique is proposed using a 0.5-m GaAs enhancement/depletion pseudomorphic high-electron mobility transistor (E/D-mode PHEMT) process in Chapter 2. By using the reactance compensation technique, the bandwidth of the proposed class-E PA can achieves 87%. This is the first fully integrated microwave class-E PA with the reactance compensation technique, and also this work demonstrates the highest figure-of-merit (FOM) with the 3-dB bandwidth among all the reported fully integrated PAs. To further mitigate the input driving power, a two-stage broadband injection-locking class-E PA using a 0.5-m GaAs E/D-mode PHEMT process are also presented. The PA works as an oscillator whose output voltage is tuned at the input frequency. The proposed injection-locking PA achieves high power added efficiency (PAE) and high power gain. Besides, an autonomous circuit is also employed for nonlinear stability analysis, and the design procedure is summarized for the circuit implementation. Moreover, the proposed PA with Gaussian minimum-shift keying (GMSK) and 64-QAM modulation signals still demonstrates good performance, and it is suitable for the digital modulation schemes. A 2.5-GHz class-E power oscillator (POSC) using a finite dc-feed inductance is proposed using a 0.5-m GaAs E/D-mode PHEMT process. The analysis of the class-E load network using finite dc-feed inductance is presented, and a systematic design procedure for the class-E POSC is developed. The class-E load network can be further operated above the class-E maximum frequency (fmax,E) as the core device is operated in the saturated region. Moreover, a 24-GHz class-E POSC using a 0.15-m GaAs E/D-mode PHEMT process is present in Chapter 3. The measured results of the two proposed class-E POSCs compared with the recently reported state-of-the-art POSCs are also summarized in this dissertation. With a ring self-injection technique, an eight-phase voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with eight reflection-type modulators is presented in Chapter 4. The amplitude and phase errors can be easily and accurately evaluated using the proposed topology, because the reflection-type modulators can be performed as a switch or an amplitude-phase modulator. This technique will be further applied to the characterizations of other multi-phase VCOs. A self-injection-coupled quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator (SIC-QVCO) using a standard bulk 0.18-m complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process has been successfully demonstrated. The proposed QVCO using a modified SIC method has a few advantages of low dc consumption and low phase noise. As compared with the previously reported state-of-the-art QVCOs, this SIC-QVCO features the lowest FOMs and phase noise. Besides, to further test the potential of the SIC technique in millimeter-wave (MMW) band, a 60-GHz SIC-QVCO using a 90-nm CMOS process has also been successfully designed and implemented. From these demonstrations, we can see that the proposed SIC method is suitable for the circuit designs of high performance QVCOs and multi-phase VCOs. In Chapter 5, design and analysis of a two-stage cascade low noise amplifier (LNA) and bottom-series self-injection quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator (BS-QVCO) using a 65-nm CMOS dual-gate device are presented. A small-signal equivalent circuit of the dual-gate device is investigated for bandwidth. Besides, a mechanism of the quadrature signal generation using the dual-gate device is presented for the proposed QVCO design. By using the dual-gate device, the two-stage cascade LNA achieves wide 3-dB bandwidth with high gian and low noise figure, and the BS-QVCO also demonstrates good phase noise and good quadrature accuracy. The dual-gate CMOS device is suitable for the circuit design of high performance LNAs, QVCO, and other RF circuits above 20 GHz, especially for MMW applications. Finally, we summarize the concolusion and the future works in Chapter 6.

However the maritime accident's affairs about 80% are either direct or indirect reason from the human factors and the human errors. In addition, physiological and environment situation like weary, external pressure and so on, are the limitations of human behavior. Making mistakes are humanity's universal behavior. Because of the humanity is easy to make mistakes, so that we should discover the factors which cause to make mistakes and isolate them. Hence we should substitute the person's performance as far as possible by the automatic system.The research of this dissertation has two key points: A. Take the current advanced bridge integrated alarm equipment as the foundation. To analyze and discuss what are the merit and shortcoming, then try to develop a set of synthesis for the bridge navigation, the ships condition monitoring, the engine room condition monitoring, and the ship vision monitoring under an integrated control platform. To realize the ships navigation automatically and decrease the crew's work load, then increase the navigation safety and the efficiency with the validity and provides a good environment for “One Person Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm System”. B. Our standard is according to MSC. 128(75) resolution article from Marine Safety Committee of International Maritime Organization. Making the analysis with a discussion to “One Person Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm System” and study and develop a set of automatic and a feasible Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm System. This research of this dissertation is collected as follows: ◎To analyze the current used integrated alarm system and “One Person Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm System”, then finds out the benefit and disadvantage. ◎To analyze and collect some kinds of alarm units and detectors, then makes a connection with maritime accident/disaster. Make a priority list in the jointed equipments for “Ship Condition Monitoring and Integrated Alarm System”. ◎Using the face detection & recognition method and infrared human body temperature detection method to replace the present used timer or buzzer alarm which is a passive method. ◎The experiment proved that the infrared human body temperature detection method has the advantage in higher feasibility than the face detection & recognition method. ◎To analyze the present vigilance monitor function in “One Person Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm System” and find out what's good & what's bad, then develop the voice identification technology for carries out vigilance monitor on bridge. ◎The experiment proved that the ships arrangement supervisory system(Closed Circuit Television)is helpful in the ships security protection and reduces the ship crew patrol burden and decrease the security dead space. T0 solve the problem for large amounts alarm units on bridge, we use an automatic detection method to monitor the bridge navigation watching. The activity and the awareness of duty officer are monitoring, we hope to create a better environment for “One Person Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm System” and by this way in this research to reduce the occurrence of maritime affair accidents.

The cost management and control are the important topic that most of enterprise operators have to confront with. Facing the increasing competition in enterprise environment, it is, in active respect, necessary to control the cost effectively in order to gain niche in keen market competition; in positive respect, it is to avoid any error policy decision because of inaccurate cost data. In traditional cost accounting, the allocation method of overhead is incomplete so that it is easier to result a distortion phenomenon in production cost structure. For the past years, the management academic world has proved through detailed study and real application that using the Activity-Based Costing (ABC) System can improve the defect of traditional cost accounting. The reasonable operation analysis and the exact cost driver allocation of ABC System will enhance the accuracy of the cost data. This case study company is a sole integrated steel producer in Taiwan. Due to the diversity of products, the company’s production processes are extremely complicated and varied. The existing cost management system is unable to provide an actual cost under the different processes. Therefore, there is a room for improvement in analyzing the cost sharing of product expenses. This report takes the case study company’s BOF plant as an example to research, by means of the process analysis, how to allocate the cost exactly, and to make a new cost system which can match the spirit of ABC. Meanwhile, this report makes a comparative analysis between the original cost system and ABC one. The result of the research revealed that the ABC cost system may truly improve the phenomenon of distortion of the product cost structure in the case study company. Using ABC cost system may not only promote the accuracy of the cost information, but also enhance the working performance under the activities analysis and control and reduce the waste of resources.

The fast growing market on color screens or panels makes the large demanding on backlights for cellular phones, PDA or pocket PCs. Among the backlight sources such as CCFLs, Els and white LED, white LED is the best solution due to the low DC driving voltage, low cost, long lifetime, less pollution problem and easy for mass production. Therefore, the research and development on a small size, high efficiency and low cost white LED driver IC will be a good lift on this highly competitive business. The solutions to drive white LEDs are discussed and how they relate to the main power supply requirements. Another hardware design and implementation are presented in this paper using current-limited, Pulse Frequency Modulation control architecture, which is capable to drive 6 white LEDs for 20mA including over-voltage protection and soft-start functions. It achieves 90% of efficiency in 1400μm by 960μm of die size.

The purpose of this study is to explore the implementation of social work into church services and to make recommendations on the implementation of social work in the churches. The research method is using qualitative interviews and snowball sampling. This study interviews with five social workers with social backgrounds and has worked in churches. The results include following. First, church work was socially relevant, and that the subjects served are vulnerable groups. Church services can contain every corner in the community, and were suitable for the community social work. Second, social workers can help the church get the resources, enhance the church and the government's cooperative relations, so that the church can become a place to serve the public. Third, there is a lot of challenges and conflicts of the cooperative relationship between the church and social workers; such as ethical issues, social workers at the same time is the church member and workers, resulting in dual role pressure. Finally, according to the results of the study, provide the recommendations and suggestions for follow-up study and the church's social work.

With a diverse natural resources and rich culture assets Taiwan possess a strong potential for tourism development which is, therefore, regarded by the government as one of the key growing areas in recent years. In the annual forum of International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism (IFITT) in early 2014, utilizing the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the Visitors Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation won the first prize of “Tourism Innovation Award” by the intelligent mobile navigation services designed specifically for the international travelers. Integrating the “Information Technology” and “Tourism Service” by downloading the travel information via internet platform or smart mobile devices, the “Intelligent Tourism” will become the new trend of promoting tourism. The Madou area in Tainan City is well known for growing Madou Pomelo and gained the reputation of “Pomelo Town”. With more than 400 years of development history and rich cultural resources including the ancient port ruins of Dao-feng lagoon, the hundred years old sugar refinery and old streets, the thriving incense of Royal Lords faith, the Twelve Nursing Goddesses art parade, and the famous agriculture products, Madou is a small town with distinguishing features and worth an in-depth tour. In this research, based on three main themes of history, religion and industry, nine electronic books are made on “Madou Ancient Port Culture Park”, “Madou greeting Royal Lords DaiTianfen”, “Madou Pomelo Meaningful Prompting” and three videos are filmed and edited on “Exuberant Green Touring Tsung-Yeh Arts and Culture Center”, “Pomelo Primary”, “Here Comes Pomelo! Here Picks Pomelo!” Develop a "Pomelo-Town‧Madou" App which integrates smart mobile devices and utilizes digital storage technology, for innovative value addition on Pomelo Town culture. From the aspects of intellectual humanities, religious tourism, natural hAppy living, distinguishing festival and specialty gourmet food, the Google Maps network platform is utilized to integrate the tourism information, marketing and propagation of Pomelo Town in order to provide more convenient tourist navigation. Combining cultural assets and digital technology to develop the intelligent tourism for Pomelo Town and therefore promote its tourism benefits.

The value and spirit of publishing lies in the content and distribution, so as to the core value of digital publishing. However, along with the era of digital publishing, the stakeholders in publishing industry should concern not only the issues of digital technology but also the differences between traditional and digital publishing such as instantaneity, variety, mobility, and quantity . According to those characteristics, how to design a logistic model of digital publication to meet customers, needs is the goal in publishing industry. Integrated marketing communication is dissemination model built up by the circle of customer, enterprise, and media. Even so, can digital publisher make the best profit by using this model? In this research, we are going to realize the business operation of digital publishing nowadays, and to view how the digital publishing using integrated marketing communication, finally, we collect knowledge and information which are related to integrated marketing communication using by digital publishing industry. We collected interview data to compare and analysis the general situation of seven digital publishers which use integrated marketing communication, and to compare if any differences while they conduct it as their marketing tools. Besides, we propose suggestions and analyses according to our research results. Our research shows that the operation model of digital publishing is still in development and we also found out few phenomenons as following: First, the development of digital industry is not mature. The quantity, format, and the consumers, using habits of digital publication are not reach the expected standard. Second, digital publishers, best tool of integrated marketing communication is online marketing since its consumption model is built up by Niche market and small numerous markets. Third, digital publishers control the demand and investment in the marketing by using KPI (Key Performance Indicators) of online marketing which is built up by integrated marketing communication. Only with its restrictions on the products, application is still in the learning stage for the consumers, and also the difficulties in using multiple marketing tools. There are few suggestions for the development of digital publishing in the future. First, digital publishing should not only put the emphasis on its technology and format, but also on the content and consumers, needs which publishers commonly lack of. Second, authorization and protection for intellectual property rights play a key role in the development of digital publishing. The protection and management for paper, digital, internet, and software should efficiently secure the rights of related-enterprises and consumers.

Humans have long recognized the "hot" treatment of the disease has long been the "hot" applied to the way medicine is quite exquisite. Today, people "hot" to master and use, technically quite mature, but the use of traditional health care is quite rare. This paper presents a new film by electrical heating cup moxibustion, moxibustion and cupping with a double effect. Analytical method using ANSYS software, the numerical calculations to simulate the moxibustion heat transfer conditions inside the cup. The results showed the moxibustion cup insulation materials should be used so that heat will not transfer through the cup body, can be avoided When doing moxibustion Cup experience skin burns, thermal efficiency can be increased to at least 48.9% or more. Because the heating plate is located in the cup body above the cup body of air will show steady state, heat conduction heat transfer into the main body.
