Abstract:
Integrated marketing communication (IMC) is an effective marketing practice in the age of social media. IMC builds customer relationships and enhances brand value by integrating information from multiple channels and strengthening user interaction. The purpose of this study is to present the development process, current hotspots, and future trends of IMC research. Moreover, it explores the characteristics and patterns of IMC research. First, this paper shows the annual literature volume, leading countries, journals, and authors in IMC research through bibliometrics. Then, five hot research topics are identified through keyword co-occurrence analysis, namely IMC theory and models, brand communication, media research, customer research, and marketing strategy. From 1991 to 2020, IMC research is divided into five phases, each of which is related to the enhancement of user interaction. Future IMC research will continue to be user-centered, and IMC research will continue with social media and branding, as well as research on other topics that can further enhance user interactions. This paper also finds that the characteristics of the concept of IMC itself lead to a constant renewal of its connotations, which is one of the reasons why scholars cannot reach a consensus on the concept of IMC. Subject area Marketing, strategy, and integrated marketing communication. Study level/applicability The case is suitable for analysis in an MBA level marketing communication course where the theories of hierarchy of effects (HoE) models, push vs pull strategies as well as positioning strategies can be introduced. The case is suitable for analysis in an MBA level marketing course for the module on marketing communications/advertising and promotions. Case overview Sanjay, the regional head of PepsiCo India (eastern region), had been tasked with the preparation of a support plan for a new communication campaign of Mountain Dew, a yellow-coloured drink in PepsiCo's soft-drink portfolio. He had attended a meeting at the headquarters where he had been briefed on the new national campaign roll-out for Mountain Dew – for the first time with celebrity association. While Mountain Dew had been growing its market share in other regions of the Indian market, the Eastern region had been unresponsive to the mass media image building campaigns. During the meeting, the various aspects of Mountain Dew's performance were discussed and Sanjay was asked to prepare a support plan for the national campaign that will help to increase revenues and market share of the brand in the Eastern region. Expected learning outcomes To understand the complexities of differential impact of integrated nation-wide communications on various segments of the market due to cultural variations, to understand the role of push strategy vs pull strategy in marketing communications, to understand the role of consistency in image between the trade and consumers perception, to understand the impact of celebrity endorsements, an introduction to the HoE communication models and their applications, to understand limitations of the HoE and Think-Feel-Do models in objective setting and understanding the uses of alternative models, to build a communication plan based on pull vs push strategy. Abstract:
Industry 4.0, or the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is driven by innovative technologies that have profound effects on both production systems and business models. This revolution is characterized by the addition of disruptive technologies and methods. These aspects of Industry 4.0 have a significant impact on marketing, and have led to an evolution to ensure that marketing activities align with technological advancements and address consumers’ current needs. The purpose of this paper is to formulate and discuss future research avenues for marketing considering the changes brought about by Industry 4.0. The approach taken in the paper is to review the relevant literature and focus on the key themes which are most important for future research on Industry 4.0 and marketing. Therefore, a Systematic Bibliometric Literature Review was conducted based on the SCOPUS indexing online database of scientific articles, the most important peer-reviewed journal database in the academic world. The paper finds that there are a number of research avenues for marketing researchers to conduct investigations in, but the most important areas are five marketing principles in Industry 4.0: cooperation, conversation, co-creation, cognitivity, and connectivity. Future research should focus on the quantitative study of these five principles.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to help researchers and practitioners to understand and respond to consumer complaining behaviour (CCB) by developing a taxonomy that addresses the inadequacies of previous consumer complaining taxonomies and models, simplifies the terminology and covers both traditional and new ways of complaining. Design/methodology/approach Based on a systematic review of 210 studies, a concept-centric analysis of CCB literature was conducted. Seminal taxonomies and models of CCB are revisited and a critical evaluation of these is presented. Findings An integrated taxonomy of CCB is proposed which enhances the understanding of complaining in the twenty-first century by clarifying the ambiguities and overlapping constructs in the previous taxonomies. Research limitations/implications The integrated taxonomy of CCB eliminates the ambiguity of previous approaches and introduces more coherent constructs in relation to the theory of CCB. The taxonomy comprehensively defines and describes the range of complaining actions to provide a complete framework. As a result, the authors’ understanding of CCB is developed through a focus on complaining actions, their characteristics and what these actions afford companies in their attempts to deal with complaints (i.e. audience and amount of information available). Practical implications Practitioners can use the integrated taxonomy of CCB to structure their complaint handling processes to obtain maximum customer feedback, to improve their product/service and to retain customers through satisfactorily addressing their complaints. Originality/value Although the literature on consumer complaining is mature, this is the first paper that offers a comprehensive taxonomy that explains CCB while addressing new developments in computer-mediated communications.

Abstract:
This thesis comprises three essays and investigates complex effects of integrated marketing communications, using advanced statistical and econometric models. The first essay focuses on the measurement of complex multi-media communications effects such as thresholds, saturation levels and cross-media synergies. We use, MARS, a non-parametric regression method based on multivariate adaptive splines, and show that it, successfully trading-off the bias reduction and variance increase, performs superior to parametric and non-parametric benchmarks in model fit and predictive validity. The results provide compelling evidence to one or more threshold points, saturation levels, early saturation for newspaper advertisements and support for possible supersaturation for certain media. Moreover, we quantify the observed threshold and saturation levels using non-parametric derivatives and find that majority of the media perform in inefficient spending ranges. The second essay examines the dynamic effects of direct-to-consumer advertising (DTCA) in a market where regulations impose restrictions on the type and content of prescription pharmaceutical advertising. We identify three research questions that should be of great managerial interest: Whether DTCA is a reasonable option to choose under these regulations. If so, which type of DTCA is more effective, and when? We pursue these questions by examining data on new and refill prescriptions for a novel pharmaceutical through the implementation of an Augmented Kalman Filter with continuous state and discrete observations (AKF(C-D)). Our findings suggest the presence of complex DTCA dynamics for the two types of regulation-induced advertising messages. We discuss implications and provide extensive validation tests that confirm the superiority of our modeling approach. The final essay investigates the influence of market heterogeneity on the consumer and physician directe

Abstract:
The Thesis consists of three interrelated parts, which study Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC): the antecedents and consequences of the IMC concept from the company point of view, the IMC concept as a mediator and factors influencing on its implementation effectiveness, and, IMC based on the customer perception. Enhanced by advancement in technologies, the growth of competition and uncertainty in the market, the concept of IMC evolved from a simple instrument of tactical coordination to a dynamic marketing capability. Its evolution and deeper involvement in managerial processes determine the need for the review and better understanding. Based on the dynamic capabilities theory, IMC, when combined with the right strategy, can bring a competitive advantage to the firm and positively affect its performance. However, previous researchers suggest that companies may face barriers while implementing the IMC. First, endogenous factors, enclosing the effects related to internal business management. Second, exogenous factors, related to the external environmental effects. Additionally, taking into consideration the existence of a direct relationship between the strategic antecedents of IMC and company performance, we suggest the mediation effect of IMC. Finally, in spite of the customer-centric approach to the IMC concept, researchers have been mainly focused on analysing it from a managerial point of view, overlooking the understanding of customer opinion about IMC. Thus, we address three interrelated objectives. Chapter 1 focuses on analysing the strategic antecedents of the IMC concept and its consequences for company performance (customer, marketing, financial) under the moderating effect of the economy type. Chapter 2 aims to analyse the existent moderating and mediating effects in the IMC theoretical model. Chapter 3 studies IMC customer-based perception, its strategic antecedents and consequences on post-purchase customer behaviour (satisfaction, word-of-mouth recommendations, repurchase intention) from an inter-country perspective. To test theoretical models, we conduct companies and customer surveys in Belarus and Spain. Drawing from institutional and cultural dimensions theories, for the data collection process we selected two economical and culturally different countries, a transition economy (Belarus) and a developed economy (Spain). The data analysis suggests that market orientation positively influences on IMC in both transition and developed economies, but the effect of technology orientation on IMC is only significant in the developed economy. IMC directly affects customer and market performance, but the direct effect of IMC on financial performance is not significant in any of the two economies analysed. The moderating effects analysis shows that company size and manager's profile moderate the relationships in the theoretical model, whereas the economic system does not. The moderating effect of the organisational structure is only significant in the developed economy. In addition, in a transition economy, IMC mediates only the relationships between market orientation and customer and market performances. In a developed economy, both marketing and technology orientation have indirect effects on company performance through IMC. The results of customer survey analysis suggest that technology orientation positively affects the IMC customer-based perception, but customer orientation has no effect. However, customer and technology orientations have indirect effects on post-purchase behaviours through IMC, but only in Spain. Furthermore, IMC positively affects customer satisfaction, which in turn positively influences WOM and repurchase intention. However, WOM has no impact on repurchase intention. In addition, the cross-cultural comparison reveals differences, indicating that only in a more market-oriented economy as Spain IMC affects WOM and repurchase intention. These relationships are fully mediated by customer satisfaction in Belarus and partially in Spain. Implications of these findings for researchers and managers are further discussed, as are the limitations.

Abstract:
This thesis gains an insight into advertising and integrated marketing communications with an exploration of the relationships between advertisers and consumers at the meso level of interface between the two groups. As an initial investigation into advertising and integrated marketing communications and its relationships to consumers’ behaviour, the inquiry develops by exploring an alternative lineage of interpretive consumer research. The two areas of focus emerging from the literature review are the concepts of manufacturing consent (Herman and Chomsky, 2002) as the macro advertiser/sender level of behaviour and the concept of motivational behaviour research (Tadajewski, 2006) as the micro consumer/receiver level of behaviour. The study utilises a mixed methods research design to explore the interface between advertisers and consumers. From the analysis of the commonalites and variances within the data, a mapping of behaviour between the two groups presented a new and unexpected set of interactions. Interactions that reflect the Foundation Premises within the work of Vargo and Lush (2008) by developing an emergent conceptual model.

Integrated marketing communications strategies are being utilized more and more by practitioners who wish to reach their audiences in different ways at different times. However, the omnipresence that results from these multi-channel campaigns presents a new challenge for marketers, as their message and channel sequences may or may not be experienced in the order intended. Past literature has shown that both message order and channel sequence do matter. However, existing literature has not examined intended message sequences where the first channel “teases” the more comprehensive information available in the second channel. Therefore, the aim of this study was to bridge some of the gaps in past research by exploring message content order effects and channel sequence effects across intentional sequences for both high- and low-involvement product categories through the lens of the Elaboration Likelihood Model. A 2 (message content order: tease-to-answer versus answer-to-tease) by 2 (medium sequence: print-to-online versus online-to-print) by 2 (product involvement: high- versus low-involvement) mixed factorial experimental design was conducted to explore how message content order, channel sequence, and product involvement level affected evaluations of brand and message, as well as perceived behavioral intent. The findings indicated that message content order had significant influence over brand and message evaluation, with the tease-to-answer order producing the highest evaluations of brand and message. The findings also indicated that the online-to-print sequence was only effective for increasing behavioral intent under high-involvement conditions. Implications for marketing practitioners and future research are discussed.

Abstract:
Brand awareness and its establishment among consumers has been a central theme in previous research on marketing as it is proven to indirectly induce purchase. It is thus seen as crucial for marketers to establish brand awareness. However, a research gap is apparent in regard to creating brand awareness among Generation Z. More specifically, this study focuses on which communication channel that is best suited for establishing brand awareness for this generational cohort. Hence, the purpose of this study is to explicitly analyse the linkage between these variables and provide a guideline for companies targeting Generation Z. To obtain a deeper understanding, previous research has been reviewed and an extensive data collection has been conducted including two methods; interviews and a survey to obtain empirical evidence and valuable insights. The qualitative data was of main focus with the quantitative data gave more of an overview. By combining and evaluating the empirical findings in relation to previous research and theory we could identify patterns and relationships that eventually led to the conclusion and final results of this thesis. The initial results concluded from this study underlined the importance of brand awareness since it was the first step for the purpose of inducing purchases. In addition, the results also highlight the importance of building upon brand awareness to establish brand liking as it will provide for the increase of purchase intention. For establishing brand awareness when targeting Generation Z, Instagram is a means of preference and should be considered as part of a mix of various communication channels in using integrated marketing communications.

Abstract:
Organizations through various forms of marketing communications strive to increase brand awareness and create a brand image in the market. Through these communications, relationships between consumers and companies are developed, to build customer loyalty. Correlation relations showed that there is a great dependence between the variables of marketing communication and the variables of brand building and business performance. The regression model found that marketing communications have the greatest impact on brand recognition in the market, highlighting the impact of public relations and direct marketing. It has been confirmed that economic propaganda, sales promotion and internet marketing are the best predictors of market participation as business performance of an organization. The results of the research indicated that the impact of marketing communications on brand building is greater if the organization is ready to conduct adequate marketing research and to the greatest extent satisfies the needs and requirements of consumers.

Abstract:
Considering that digital technologies have become an essential element of everyday consumer life, modern marketing has shifted to new, digital models that provide different possibilities for marketing mix development. The advent of the Internet, and particularly Web 2.0. technologies have significantly influenced all elements of the marketing mix, regardless of whether organizations are directly involved in e-commerce or not. The paper analyses the strategic frameworks of the marketing mix from the context of consumer behaviour, and their user experience in the digital environment. The research aim is to indicate the opportunities of digital technologies for marketers when deciding about product differentiation, price strategies, online communication tools and distribution channels to deliver value to consumers. In addition, the paper provides an insight into current literature dealing with the implications of digital technology and media on the digital marketing mix.

Abstract:
Given the fact that we are in a time of uncertainty, when we cannot predict how a coronavirus-induced pandemic will affect community life, socially responsible behaviour as well as the impact of socially responsible marketing come to the fore in particular. The goal of socially responsible marketing is to educate and take actions that will positively affect the change of behaviour, and all participants from business entities to individuals must be aware of their responsible behaviour towards themselves and others in order to improve well-being and benefit the society we live in. The paper presents models of socially responsible marketing communication in the "new normal" as well as their impact on raising awareness of responsible behaviour and the adoption of new habits among consumers.

Abstract:
The world we live in today is pervaded by digital, the net is increasingly present and mixes the dimensions of the physical and the virtual, changing the way we understand, decide and evaluate things and also the way we do business. Artificial intelligence (AI) and related technologies are transforming the way we think and do marketing and the way companies relate to consumers and society.Internet has assumed a key role in nurturing innovation within business ecosystems. AI, big data and Internet of things (IoT) are key drivers of the current revolution in the way of communicating and relating among both individuals and products. This change is mainly due to the impact of algorithms’ mediations on the creation of value and customer engagement.Recent years, growing attention has been devoted to consumer brand engagement through emerging technological platforms (e.g., social media/artificial intelligence-based). However, despite important knowledge advancement, much remains unknown regarding the effect of Consumers’ Technology-Facilitated Brand Engagement (CTFBE) on individuals’ wellbeing, thus determining an important research gap (Hollebeek and Belk, 2021). CTFBE comprises a vital social facet. Hollebeek and Belk (2021) define CTFBE as a consumer’s bloodedly volitional resource investment in technology-mediated brand interactions (Kumar et al., 2019; Hollebeek et al, 2020). Online behavioral customer engagement occurs because of the rise of the new media and the advancement of technology, which have changed the way customers connect and interact with firms (Jahn and Kunz, 2012). One of the most active channels for such an aim are social media (Gummerus et al, 2012) where customers share their own experiences, information, review brands and manifest enthusiasm, delight, or disgust about a brand with others (Hollebeek and Chen, 2014).Digital transformation has totally transformed the value creation process (Reinartz et al., 2019) revolutionizing the way of doing business using the large mass of available data and information, through sophisticated service platforms that increase both effectiveness and efficiency in the value creation processes. AI has been a key component of digital transformation, substantially affecting consumer decision-making (Duan et al., 2021).AI, big data and the IoT are supporting and / or automating many decision-making processes: product, price, channel, supply chain, communication, etc. The customer experience is also redesigned starting from new value creation objectives and can become a stimulus for the creation of new business models. This, in turn, can provide a customized experience that is highly valued by consumers (Lemon and Verhoef, 2016). While new technologies have brought more ways for customers to interact with brands and companies, digital technologies have similarly enabled the automation of company’s interactions with customers (Kunz et al., 2017).According to Kumar et al (2010), AI represents the enabling technology for the transformation of marketing theory and practices: the enormous availability of data, the explosion of the possibilities to reach and interact on the markets and an increased speed of transactions. AI-enabled digital platform helps organizations to attract their customers (Bag et al, 2021; Chawla and Goyal, 2021).An increasing number of marketing decisions already use artificial intelligence in some way, and with the rise of big data is becoming easier to incorporate AI into business practices. Marketers may develop a more effective and personalized communication approach (Mogaji et al., 2020). For this reason, today AI is adopted in all activities where classification, forecasts and clustering are useful or necessary to solve problems and support decisions (management of anomalies in processes, logistics and optimization planning, customer service and customization). In the contemporary world the ubiquity of digital has made fluid the distinctions between channels and has integrated two dimensions of reality (physical and virtual one in phygital), the management of complex processes has become agile and adaptive, the advantages of integration and dynamic use of resources condition the operation of entire businesses. Well, what influence all this changes, new technologies and brand algorithms will have on social engagement?Prior studies on artificial intelligence in service and marketing research have not addressed customer engagement (Kaartemo & Helkkula, 2018). Perhaps, even Kaartemo & Helkkula (2018) specifically called for more research to answer the question: “How can we improve customer engagement through AI?”The article proposal is theoretical/conceptual in nature and starts from an updated review of academic literature on the aforementioned topics, mainly within marketing and business management disciplines, to achieve an interpretative attempt of Brand algorithm and social engagement (role) in digital era. Abstract:
In this paper, we present a single-stage class-E power amplifier with multiple-gated shape as well as 0.18μm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process for 2.4GHz Industry-Science-Medicine (ISM) band. This power amplifier is able to be easily integrated into the system-on-chip (SoC) circuit. For the competition of lower cost and high integration in marketing concern, CMOS technology is fundamentally better than GaAs technology. We adopt the Advanced Design System software in circuit simulation coming from Agilent Company through the Chip Implementation Center (CIC) channel plus TSMC 0.18 μm device models. The simulation results with temperature effect, show the good performance such as an output power achievement of +22dBm under a 1.8V supply voltage; the power-added efficiency (PAE) is over 30%; the output impedance (S22) and the input impedance (S11) are fully lower than −15dB; the power gain (S21) is +11dB; the inverse isolation (S12) is below −26dB. This amplifier reaches its 1-dB compression point at an output level of 16.5dBm related to the input power 6.5dBm position. The output power with temperature variation from 0°C to 125°C depicts an acceptable spec. range, too.
