Abstract: Dental anxiety is feeling of fear when visiting a dentist for a dental procedures. Dental anxiety can be caused by many factors such as previous traumatic experience at the dentist, lack of understanding of the dental and oral care procedures, and unpleasant experiences of those around him/her about dental and oral care. Indicators of anxiety can be evaluate with the modified dental anxiety scale (MDAS) and the patient's systemic reaction, namely blood pressure. Reducing anxiety and blood pressure can be overcome with pharmacological and non-pharmacological techniques, one of which is instrumental music. This study aimed to determine the effect of instrumental music on patient anxiety in dental and oral care procedures. This was an experimental study conducted on 63 adult patients. Subjects filled out the MDAS questionnaire to evaluate their level of anxiety and were checked their blood pressure before and after treatment. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and one-way ANOVA to determine the effect of instrumental music on anxiety. The results showed significant differences in patient anxiety before and after being given instrumental music based on the MDAS questionnaire (p=0.000), systolic blood pressure (p=0.000), and diastolic blood pressure (p=0.000). In conclusion, instrumental music can reduce the patient's anxiety level. Abstract:
Although resources exist to help instrumental music teachers assist learners in inclusive settings, students’ voices may be absent from those resources. As such, music teachers may struggle to honor the needs and experiences of students with physical differences. Students with physical differences may be steered away from instrumental music or toward an instrument that may not be the student’s preference. The purpose of this study was to understand the stories of students with physical differences and their teacher to examine how participation in instrumental music was enabled in this setting. Data were generated through examining artifacts and completing interviews with the instrumental music teacher, students, and students’ parents. Interview data were analyzed using process/action coding. Main themes that emerged were (a) previous experiences and prior knowledge, (b) recognizing strengths and challenges, (c) perseverance toward desires in the face of uncertainty, (d) help and support from others, and (e) materials. Implications for future research and possible applications to music teaching and music teacher education are discussed.

Abstract:
This striking insight is already underlying Adam Smith’s aesthetics of music, but it should not be misunderstood as an economic determinism on music. Rather, Smith’s economic theory itself is subject of aestheticisation. Both levels, aesthetics and economics, are structurally coupled. This is particularly evident in Smith’s musical-aesthetic considerations. He distinguishes clearly between vocal and instrumental music. While vocal music is characterised by the communication of relations of sympathy, instrumental music communicates only itself and is therefore autonomous. Thus it corresponds to the figure of the invisible hand, which actually has its most precise expression in instrumental music.

Abstract:
Although speech and vocal music are consistently shown to impair serial recall for visually presented items, instrumental music does not always produce a significant disruption. This study investigated the features of instrumental music that would modulate the disruption in serial recall. 24 students were presented sequences of nine digits and required to recall the digits in order of presentation. Instrumental music was played either forward or backward during the task. Forward music caused significantly more disruption than did silence, whereas the reversed music did not. Some higher-order factor may be at work in the effect of background music on serial recall.

Abstract:
During the 20 years that followed the completion of his first vocal work, The sayings of Páter Boniemisza op.7 (1963–68), György Kurtág established himself as a composer with an exceptional aptitude for vocal writing. His compositions for voice outweigh those for instruments alone in both quantity and substance throughout this period, during which his second string quartet, Hommage à Mihály András (12 Microludes) op. 13 (1977), is a ravishingly beautiful anomaly.
